The first season of the hit BBC series, which is now streaming on Netflix , saw Jamie Dornan’s unnamed man wake up in the Australian outback with no memory of who he was. After plenty of twists and turns, with some fatal consequences, audiences now know that his real name is Elliot Stanley, and he was not the best of dudes.

Now, 2024's Season 2 sees the story go to Ireland, where audiences will hopefully learn even more memories its leading character has forgotten.

Danielle MacDonald - Helen Chambers

After the events of Season 1, Danielle MacDonald’s Helen Chambers decided to leave her former partner (who was rather manipulative) and instead explore the world with Elliot Stanley.

Season 2 picks up on one of their latest stop, Ireland, which is particularly important to Elliot’s undiscovered past. This detour proves to be a little more dangerous than either realized.

Some of MacDonald’s previous credits include Bird Box , Unbelievable , and Dumplin’ .

Greg Larsen - Ethan Krum

Ethan Krum, played by Greg Larsen, is the former boyfriend of Helen Chambers. The two are now separated, even if he is finding that a little hard to accept.

Olwen Fouéré - Niamh Cassidy

Mark McKenna - Fergal McDonnell

Unlike the rest of his family, Mark McKenna’s Fergal McDonnell is not as interested in continuing the bloodshed and revenge as part of this never-ending feud. As the youngest member of the McDonnells, Fergal struggles to find his place in the world.

Francis Magee - Frank McDonnell

Despite being the cold, authoritative voice of the McDonnell family, Francis Magee's Frank McDonnell is the more considerate of the bunch. He is not the shoot first and ask questions later type of guy, but he will do what needs to be done.

Diarmaid Murtagh - Donal McDonnell

Diarmaid Murtagh brings to life Donal McDonnell, the eldest brother of his family and one of the most involved in the feud.

The actor also appears in Vikings , Bloodlands , and Outlander .

Nessa Matthews - Orla McDonnell

Orla McDonnell, played by Nessa Matthews, takes after her brother Donal for being a brutal force on nature when it comes to getting things done.

The Tourist is Matthews’ biggest onscreen role to date.

Conor MacNeill - Detective Ruairi Slater

Conor MacNeill portrays Detective Ruairi Slater, who becomes entangled with Helen amidst the two warring families that the story focuses on. Slater is dealing with some mental health issues of his own and isn’t afraid to bend the rules a bit.

The Man — Jamie Dornan

Jamie Dornan stars as The Man in The Tourist , an amnesiac trying to discover the truth about his past. In a terrifying twist of events along the way, he realizes there is somebody out there who wants him dead but why?

Dornan rose to fame by playing Christian Grey in the Fifty Shades of Grey film franchise and Sheriff Graham Humbert in Once Upon a Time.

He is also well known for playing killer Paul Spector in BBC 's The Fall and most recently, he starred as Pa, in Kenneth Branagh's Oscar-nominated film, Belfast, and as Edgar in Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar.

Constable Helen Chambers — Danielle Macdonald

Danielle Macdonald portrays Probationary Constable Helen Chambers in The Tourist.

She is a police officer assigned to The Man's case but quickly finds herself becoming consumed by his mystery and getting to the bottom of who he really is.

Speaking to Newsweek and other outlets about the character Helen, writer Jack Williams shared: "She's very believable, very relatable and you feel very warm. You just want her, this character to realize herself to be a better version of herself and I think Danielle brings that amazing relatability and warmth."

Macdonald, who is Australian but lives in the U.S. gets to use her native accent in the show, which may stun viewers who know Macdonald best as New Jersey rapper in Patti Cake$ and Texas-born Willowdean in Dumplin'.

Luci Miller — Shalom Brune-Franklin

Actress Shalom Brune-Franklin stars as Luci Miller, who has an unexpected connection to The Man and a very dark past.

Speaking to Newsweek and other outlets about her character, Brune-Franklin said: "She's a waitress. There's a really interesting dynamic going on between the two of them whilst Jamie's character is sort of trying to unveil the truth, she is maybe trying to hide it."

The Tourist is likely about to become one of the next big hit shows on Netflix when it starts streaming in February . The first season will debut on February 1 followed by the second season on February 29 , marking the first time that season 2 will be available to watch in America and many other countries around the world. Max previously carried the show, but has chosen to dump it, so Netflix swept in and picked up international distribution rights for the BBC One series.

Jamie Dornan is the leading star and character in the show, but The Tourist features a very talented supporting cast. Get to know everyone below.

Jamie Dornan as The Man

Jamie Dornan stars in The Tourist and plays the leading character, who we'll refer to as " The Man ," for the sake of spoilers. You'll learn about who he really is as you watch the show, but it's the core mystery so we don't want to ruin it for you before you even begin!

Dornan's biggest claim to fame so far is probably playing Christian Grey in the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise alongside Dakota Johnson, but since then he has really diversified his resume with lots of exciting projects ranging from serious dramas to action to comedy and everything in between. Australian actress Shalom Brune-Franklin plays Luci and is best known for starring in the BBC series Our Girl . She also starred as Estella in the BBC One adaptation of Great Expectations and will next appear in the Max series Dune: Prophecy .

Danielle Macdonald as Helen Chambers

Danielle Macdonald is another Aussie native starring in the series as Constable Helen Chambers. It doesn't take long for Helen to cross paths with The Man, which causes strain in her relationship as her fiancé seems to lament her working and would rather her stay home and spend time with him. Macdonald's most notable roles outside of The Tourist include the drama film Patti Cake$ and the Netflix Originals Unbelievable , Dumplin' , and Bird Box . Greg Larsen Ethan Krum

Speaking of Helen and her fiancé, comedian Greg Larsen actually plays her significant other Ethan Krum. Like the majority of the cast, Greg is an Australian and he has a background in acting, writing, and comedy. He has won several awards for his stand-up comedy routines, particularly at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. The Tourist is his most notable acting role to date.

Victoria Haralabidou as Lena Pascal

Greek actress Victoria Haralabidou plays Lena Pascal, a character that enters the picture a bit later into the season. She also becomes an important part of The Tourist season 2. Netflix came to the rescue, announcing on Dec. 14, 2023 that they will be adding both seasons to the streaming platform. The Tourist Season 2 released in the UK on Jan. 1, 2024 and will be arriving in the U.S. on Feb. 29, 2024.

Upon the show’s initial release, Decider’s Joel Keller praised the cast’s performances and wrote that the first episode “hooked us in with its story.”

With a dash of humor and some Hitchcock-esque directorial flourishes, the film’s scenario could have been fun. But the production takes the lazy approach and leaves the viewer palpably aware of it.

But even with its good-looking cast and locations, “The Tourist” is too shallow, too flat, and ultimately forgettable.

The Tourist is not an absolute debacle, and was able to entertain a tolerant audience. [Full review in Spanish]

The action scenes are sluggish when they should punch, the leads seem indifferent when we’re to believe they’re falling in love, and there’s a sense of burden as the plot twists and turns.

The Tourist had all the elements in place to truly be a thing of beauty. Which makes it such a shame the script is so predictable and ugly.

The chemistry is nonexistent, the supporting roles don't come any more generic, and too many laughable occasions arise from the characters laboring dramatically to be intense.

Jolie, while certainly able to pull off the tall and lanky look, seems to be looking around for a starving child to tend to or adopt.

You have beautiful people doing cool stuff in beautiful environments. If you're into that sort of thing, then this movie is for you.

Despite the star power, the film lacks fireworks. It proves to be a case of big star power with low wattage.

The dreadful dialogues and plot-holes do not help.

HBO Max continues stealth drops of some of the best drama mini-series on television. Last year highlights included “The Head” and “ Station Eleven ,” and they start 2022 strongly with the fantastic “The Tourist,” a twisty tale that plays like an Aussie version of “ Fargo .” With sharp dialogue, clever plotting, and career-best work from Jamie Dornan and Danielle Macdonald , this is a great little thriller, a show that constantly keeps you guessing and entertained in equal measure.

The “ Belfast ” and “ Fifty Shades of Grey ” star plays an unnamed man (at least for a while) who is driving through the very remote Australian outback. He stops at a station to use the bathroom, banters with the guy behind the counter, and hits the road again. Looking in the rearview mirror, he sees a truck gaining on him with remarkable speed. The Man twists off the road to avoid it and the trucker follows, revealing through a POV from his cab that this is very intentional—he’s trying to kill this tourist. They race through the desert until The Man’s car crashes. He wakes up in a hospital with no memory of who he is or how he got there.

Enter a small-town officer named Helen Chambers (Macdonald), engaged to an awful man named Ethan ( Greg Larsen ) and thrust into a mystery about who this handsome Irishman is in a hospital bed. When The Man finds a note with a time and a location in his pocket, he heads to a small town called Burnt Ridge, where he meets a woman named Luci ( Shalom Brune-Franklin ) who might know about his past, ends up crossing paths with a sociopath ( Ólafur Darri Ólafsson ) who clearly wants him dead, and gets a phone call from a man who’s been buried underground. And then things get even weirder.

Created by the people behind the excellent “ The Missing ” (which aired stateside on Starz), the writing on “The Tourist” is a metronomic back and forth between reveals and how those reveals propel the narrative in a new direction. Pushing their way through all the chaos are Dornan and Macdonald, both phenomenal. Dornan finds a quirky, unsettled way to play a man who doesn’t know who he is without resorting to the cliché of the lost soul. If anything, he leans into more of a blank slate interpretation of amnesia, playing a guy who’s more open to what comes next because he can’t remember what came before. And Macdonald is charming and so incredibly likable that she becomes the heart of a show that can be cold at times.

Echoes of “ Memento ” and “Fargo” aside, “The Tourist” also has its own quirky personality. Some of those quirks get a bit extreme in late-season episodes in ways I can’t spoil, but the show is never boring. It’s a reminder that the Dornan who was so great in “ The Fall ” is still out there, and I hope it leads him to more bizarre, challenging roles like this one. There’s an argument to be made that there’s an even-better 100-minute movie in this six-episode mini-series, but that’s not the world we’re in right now. A story like this has a better chance to be told in the TV system than the mid-budget film one, and the writers don’t drag their feet or spin their wheels like so many streaming thrillers. They’re constantly moving our hero forward, keeping us uncertain about his past and even his moral center.

Some will argue that “The Tourist” gets too convoluted and I’ll admit that I enjoyed the playful uncertainty of the first half of the season more than the intensity of the second half. Although the show does get deeper in how it unpacks lies we tell ourselves and those we listen to from other people. It turns out that everyone on "The Tourist" has a secret or two, and almost all of them could use a car accident to reset the hole they've dug for themselves. 

I'm not sure how intentional it is but the show never stopped reminding me of some of my favorite early Coen films—the noir danger of “ Blood Simple ,” the open roads of “ Raising Arizona ” (and a bearded hunter who seems unkillable), Macdonald’s very Marge Gunderson character—and yet these nods to greats are embedded in a breakneck plot that never slows down enough to distract from its own inspired storytelling. Take the trip.

Adapted from a British comedy of the same name, the show recently completed two seasons and has been renewed for a third . 'Ghosts' Season 2 Review: The Spooky Comedy Makes a Wholesome Return

A number of TV shows and films have been affected by the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes , which have caused delays and cancelations of their release dates. Ghosts Season 3 has also been affected by the sudden pause, and hence there is no release date yet. The third season of Ghosts was originally scheduled to air on Thursdays at 8:30 pm ET/PT in the Fall 2023 schedule, but the network has since revised their plans .

Unfortunately, no. Ghosts Season 2 finished its run quite recently in May 2023, and it was renewed for a third season even before its airing in January. Since then there has been no new update about Ghosts Season 3. There has also been no filming done on Season 3 yet due to the strikes, and it might be some time before we can get any kind of information or footage from the upcoming installment of the show. Why Who Got “Sucked Off” on ‘Ghosts’ Season 2 Is Important

Ghosts Season 3 is expected to pick up exactly where Season 2 left off. The ghosts find themselves in a mess when they take it into their own hands to find the person who killed Alberta about a hundred years ago. Everyone is shocked to find out that it was none other than Hetty’s son, who killed Alberta to be with her boyfriend. However, things get even worse when Hetty admits to knowing the truth all along, and it sours her relationship with Alberta. The two do manage to reconcile after a heated debate and a subsequent punishment, but soon a new problem shakes Woodstone.

A new heir, previously unknown to the Arondekars arrives on site and claims that the property belongs to her. She is backed by a piece of fake DNA evidence provided by Dan ( P.J. Byrne ), the deceitful lawyer who represents the Woodstone family estate. However, Sam and Jay manage to wrest control of the Woodstone from his greedy hands after figuring out the self-proclaimed heir’s true identity and seeing through Dan’s lies. As the couple breathes a sigh of relief after saving their precious B&B, they see a glowing light going out of their home up into the sky. It is an indication that one of the ghosts passed onto the other side, i.e., reconciled with their guilt and was able to move on to the afterlife. However, it is not revealed who it is (Jay wishfully hopes that it is Trevor) and the finale ends right there. The identity of who passed on and what happened to them will be a major part of the plot of Ghosts Season 3.

Except for one actor whose identity we do not know yet, most of the original cast from Ghosts Season 2 will return. The charming pair Samantha and Jay Arondekar, played by Rose McIver and Utkarsh Ambudkar, return as the show's stars. Samantha is a freelance writer who experienced a near-death experience and has since acquired the power to see ghosts. Chef Jay, who is unemployed, makes every effort to support his wife. Trevor Lefkowitz ( Asher Grodman ), Pete Martino ( Richie Moriarty ), Susan Montero ( Sheila Carrasco ), Alberta Haynes ( Danielle Pinnock ), Captain Isaac Higgintoot ( Brandon Scott Jones ), Hetty Woodstone ( Rebecca Wisocky ), Sasappis ( Román Zaragoza ), and Thorfinn ( Devan Chandler Long ) are among the ghosts Samantha can see at their new home. Similar to Season 2, Ghosts Season 3 will also have a number of guest actors who will be revealed later on so stay tuned for those updates!

Producer Carol Baum is not feeling so euphoric about her recent jabs at Sydney Sweeney.

The Daily Mail first reported that the film vet, who worked on movies such as “Father of the Bride” and “Fly Away Home,” went after the 26-year-old “Madame Web” actress onstage at the Jacob Burns Center in Pleasantville, NY.

“I said to my class [at the University of Southern California], ‘Explain this girl to me,’ ” Baum told the crowd. “ ‘She’s not pretty, she can’t act. Why is she so hot?’ ” 

She concluded: “Nobody had an answer.”

But according to TMZ, after online backlash Baum now feels “regret” over the remarks she made during a talk with film critic Janet Maslin.

“She wishes she never would’ve made her original comments,” the outlet said , “and that crapping on an actor like that in public usually isn’t her style.”

The Post has reached out to Baum for further comment.

Earlier in the day, the “Euphoria” star’s rep shot back at Baum.

“How sad that a woman in the position to share her expertise and experience chooses instead to attack another woman,” the spokesperson told The Post.

They added: “If tearing down another woman is what Carol has learned during her decades in the business, and she feels it appropriate to pass that on to her students, then that’s truly shameful. To unjustly disparage a fellow female producer speaks volumes about Ms. Baum’s character.”

No matter what Baum’s true feelings are about Sweeney’s acting, the performer is in extremely high demand, having appeared in five films over the past two years. And her rom-com with Glen Powell, “Anyone But You,” was a huge hit, grossing $218 million worldwide. 

She’s also been recognized by awards voting bodies. In 2022, Sweeney was nominated for two Emmys: Supporting Actress in a Drama Series (“Euphoria”) and Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie (“The White Lotus”).
