Our Uncorked Wine Tour was incredible. The wineries they chose based on our wine preferences were incredible and made it an incredible experience. Our driver, Art, was professional, friendly, and fun; he ensured our experience at each tasting was the best it could be. We also really enjoyed the artisan box lunch option. Would highly recommend this company!

We used Uncorked for a family wine tasting day. Capt Clint was our driver and he did not disappoint in any way! Clint was very knowledgeable about the area and the wineries, not to mention just plain easy to talk to. Thank you for the fabulous time!!! It was our (adult) children's first time tasting and they both had a great time!! We all commented on how Clint made the experience better! Would highly recommend

Thanks so much the review!!! So glad you had a great time and we can't wait to uncork wine country with you.

Clint was fabulous. He clearly knows the area and he's very knowledgeable about different wines. We visited 3 wineries and enjoyed all of them (Caliza, Linne Calodo and Calcareous). The views at Calcareous are amazing! Clint has a great personal disposition. We would highly recommend Uncorked Wine Tours and we would specifically ask for Clint. Sent from my iPhone

Michelle was a great driver for our girls wine tasting trip. She picked us up on time in Morrow Bay and drove us all day. We opted to add the boxed lunch for an additional $25 each and it was worth it. Lunch was from a local deli. Michelle checked us in at each winery and let us know when we needed to start wrapping up for the next stop. Looking forward to using Uncorked Wine Tours in the future.

Uncorked was fabulous! Katie was very helpful every step of the way from my initial request to book all the way through follow up after our tour. As a frequent Paso traveler, I chose to book the wineries myself although I did go with Katie's suggestions for reservation times which was much appreciated! Our driver, Clint was AMAZING! He was so personable and friendly. He seemed like a friend right from the get go. My parents were along for the trip and he made sure they were helped getting in and out of the vehicle and into each winery. Normally, I'm always driving when we visit Paso wineries but no more! We will make sure to book with Uncorked each time we go up to pick up our wine club wines. I only wish we'd done this sooner! If you are thinking about booking with Uncorked, please don't hesitate. You will not be disappointed!

The weekend of April 20 6,27 2024. Mario was our driver and he was outstanding! We all felt safe. He showed up on time as we went to several wineries out to dinner and went to Sensorio at the end of the night. Thank you for providing such a fantastic employee.

I was part of a group of four that visited the Paso Robles area back in early April. We had the pleasure of Clint's company for a day of wine tasting. Terrific experience with Uncorked. Clint was knowledgable, agreeable, and flexible in creating a memorable experience for us. Recommend Uncorked very highly and Clint as well!

Awesome Kevin! Thanks so much for the review :) and we are very thankful to have Clint on the team. We can't wait to see you next time! Thank you again for Uncorking with us.

I can't say enough good things about this company. Katie, the owner put together an outstanding Itinerary. I knew which wineries I wanted to visit but she made all the arrangements and was very easy to work with. I made a huge mistake but Katie fixed it for me. Our driver was Art. He was accommodating on time and went out of his way for me. I absolutely would use this company again. This was a birthday weekend for me and I brought along two friends. The wineries of choice were Eberle, Copia, LXV, and Bushong which we did on our own but wanted to recommend them. With Uncorked we did Onx, Monochrome, Barton for lunch and Caliza, Mc Price Meyers, Le Cuvier with the food pairing, Bodga de Edgar, and TOP. I chose all the wineries but Katie scheduled them for us. Outstanding. Everything on my list I would recommend and have Katie schedule for you, it makes it much easier she did a great job.

Thanks so much Jo! So glad you enjoyed your itinerary driver and all the things through your Uncorked experience. We can't wait so show you more of wine country next time!

A quick note of appreciation and gratitude for Uncorked Wine Tours! We used Uncorked Wine Tours for 5 days (2 for airport transfers and the rest for Wine Tasting.) Hugh was an exceptional driver/guide!  A true professional that took care of our needs/wants and kept us on schedule (and hydrated). Hugh was also easy going and personal!  He was flexible with our crazy group and had a great play list going too, so we could really enjoy ourselves! We also added their box lunch option one of the days....and it was delicious. This is the second time utilizing their services and we will look forward to next time.

We appreciate you Cathy! Thanks so much for the review and we are so happy you enjoyed you Uncorked expreience and your driver Hugh :) We are very thankful to have him on the team.

Highly recommend Uncorked wine tours. My friends and I were blown away from their level of service. The ride was comfortable and clean. Hugh, our driver, was friendly, courteous, played music we wanted to hear, provided water and checked us in each winery. That was a nice touch. Definitely recommend their service and will be using them again in the future.

New napa luxury wine hillside experience with shafer hillside select.

The New Shafer HIllside Select Experience in the Vineyard, Napa Valley

Napa Valley’s famous Shafer Hillside Select wine has been reaping top reviews for more than 40 years now, but this is the first time Shafer Vineyards has created a new experience that allows visitors to tour the legendary hillside vineyard.

“The Shafer Hillside Select wine is only made from the best vineyard blocks on the steep hillside behind the winery, and is always 100% cabernet sauvignon,” explained Elias Fernandez, Shafer winemaker since 1994.

The wine was actually produced as early as 1978 and called Shafer Cabernet Sauvignon , but by 1983 founder, John Shafer and his son, Doug Shafer, realized that the cabernet sauvignon grapes coming from select blocks on the hillside were exceptional. Therefore, they created this special cuvee and called it Shafer Hillside Select .

The current release is the 2019 Shafer Hillside Select (the wine is aged 32 months in 100% new French oak before release), and immediately received 98 point scores from both Wine Advocate and Jeb Dunnuck . The release price was $375 per bottle, but the wine is allocated and only available to mailing list members.

Experiencing the New Hillside Select Tour

Recently I had a chance to explore this unique new experience, and when I arrived at the winery, I was greeted by Ilse Mapes, Hospitality Director, and Andy Demsky, Communications Director.

‘Fallout’ Dethroned In Amazon Prime Video’s Top 10 List By A New Offering

New escape from tarkov arg event adds encrypted flash drive loot, televisaunivision 2024-25 slate touts latino culture, vix growth, juanpa zurita, william levy deals.

“We have just launched this new experience because for years visitors have been asking to explore the vineyards,” explained Ilse. However, due to the steep volcanic hillside of the Stag’s Leap District with its towering volcanic chimneys that rise dramatically over the vines, the winery had to establish safe pathways and a look-out terrace first.

The experience begins in a private room with glass walls overlooking the valley below. Guests are greeted with a chilled glass of Billcart Salmon Champagne and a generous helping of Regiis Ova black caviar on potato crisps. During this relaxed and welcoming interlude visitors can view the vineyard map with the different blocks that make up Hillside Select.

The next phase is a thrilling ride on a Polaris Ranger vehicle, which slowly winds through the twists and turns of the gravel path up and into the hillside vineyard behind the winery. Along the way, visitors learn about the sustainable and regenerative practices that are used to farm, including cover crops, water conservation, no soil tilling, and use of 100% solar power for the winery.

“We have a resident pair of red tail hawks that nest on the property and they just had a baby,” said Ilse. And, as if on cue, two magnificent hawks came sailing over the vines, followed by a baby hawk doing aerial flips as he (or she) enjoyed testing out their new wings.

However, one of the sustainability practices that Shafer is most well-known for is the flock of sheep that they bring into the vineyard each spring to ‘mow’ the grass and provide natural fertilizer.

“The flock arrives with their own Peruvian shepherds and great Pyrenees sheep dogs each March and stay for about a month,” explained Andy Demsky. The company that provides the sheep is called Kaos Sheep Outfit , and Andy said that during the pandemic, a 6-hour video he produced of the sheep eating grass in the vineyards went viral.

“I think that during the pandemic people wanted to see nature, and there was something about the sheep eating grass in the vineyard that was calming and reassuring,” he said. See the video on YouTube below, with more than 460,000 views to date.

Once the Polaris reached a plateau halfway up the hillside, a large rock terrace appeared. In the center was a table where Ilse uncorked a bottle of the latest Shafer Hillside select wine – the 2019 vintage.

It was delightful sipping the delicious wine while standing on the very hillside that birthed the grapes. Rich flavors of cassis, black cherry, and cedar came first, followed by hints of violets, tobacco and black tea leaves, all wrapped in a plush mouthfeel of soft velvety tannins. I found it to be reminiscent of a Margaux Grand Cru, with richness and elegance.

As we relaxed on the hillside terrace, we learned more about the history of the estate, before slowly driving back to the winery for the third part of the 90 minute experience. This comprised an in depth private tasting of three rare library bottles of Hillside Select, along with a clever charcuterie board for each guest.

For this tasting, we enjoyed the 2012, 2006, and 1999 vintages, and it was amazing to taste the evolution of the wines as they aged into even more complex and hedonistic delights.

Shafer Hillside Select Wines - Multiple Library Vintages

The complete Hillside Select Experience is only offered twice a week during the Spring, Summer, and Autumn months and is $500 per person. Shafer Vineyards offers two other 90-minute experiences: the Terrace View Tasting for $125 per guest and the Private Collector’s Experience for $195 per guest.

Other wines crafted at Shafer Vineyards, in addition to the legendary Hillside Select, include Red Shoulder Ranch Chardonnay, TD-9 Cabernet Sauvignon, 1.5 Cabernet Sauvignon, and Relentless Syrah.

Winemaker, Elias Fernandez, Celebrates 40 Years at Shafer Vineyards

Though winemaker, Elias Fernandez, is not part of the experience, visitors may bump into him on the property as I did. This year he is celebrating his 40 th anniversary with Shafer Vineyards.

When asked, Elias was very happy to share more information about the actual blocks that went into the 2019, and how he selected them.

“The grapes from the Sunspot block are always part of Hillside Select because of their prime location on the hillside,” explained Elias. “As for the rest of the blocks, I find that the vines speak to you when you know their language.”

And Elias should know the language of grapes, because he grew up in Napa Valley and attended U.C. Davis before Doug Shafer offered him the job as assistant winemaker in 1984. Elias moved into the top winemaker position in 1994 when Doug was promoted to winery President.

Neil Young

Neil Young & Crazy Horse

See latest videos, charts and news

Taylor Swift Is Back on the Road: Here's How to Get Tickets to The Eras Tour in Sweden, Portugal…

Trending on billboard.

Young said the band had rehearsed for 23 days leading up to the tour, and it clearly paid off. Musically, Young and Horse were as simpatico and incendiary as ever, stretching out on auditory odysseys like “Cortez the Killer” and “Powderfinger,” chugging through the blunt thump of “Cinnamon Girl” and feeding off each other during the oil industry takedown “Vampire Blues.” (Speaking of “Cortez,” Young and Crazy Horse’s new release, Dume , is a reworked version of 1975’s Zuma using shelved material from those sessions; Young paid tribute to that album’s producer, the late David Briggs, during the show, saying, “We like to think about him — it centers us a little bit.”)

The rain didn’t put a damper on the evening, but unfortunately, a few sound issues did. During Young’s solo acoustic portion toward the end of the set, the sound cut out entirely during “Human Highway”; when it came back, Young gamely restarted the song, only to have it drop out again. He made the right choice to solider on, bring out the full band and tackle “Hey Hey, My My (Into the Black)” — but unfortunately, the audio issues persisted. As the sound faded in and out on that cataclysmic rocker, it was almost like listening to a vinyl record using a sound system on the fritz; one moment the noise level is pummeling you, the next moment all you can hear is the small sound made from the needle raking over the record’s groove.

Undeterred, Young and Crazy Horse returned for a problem-free encore that gave audiences a crackling “Sedan Delivery” and a cathartic “Rockin’ in the Free World.” It’s been a long time since Neil was young, but with Crazy Horse at his side, you can almost believe him on “Powderfinger” when he sings, “And I just turned 22.”

Neil Young reunites with Crazy Horse after a decade, performs double encore

uncorked tours reviews

On Thursday night, magic happened in Tennesseee.

Singer-songwriter Neil Young and rock band Crazy Horse came together to perform their hits over a two-hour show at FirstBank Amphitheater on their first tour together in a decade.

The 2024 "Love Earth Tour" features the now 78-year-old singer alongside the Los Angeles rock band yet again.

Canadian singer-songwriter Young, best known for songs "Heart of Gold," "Harvest Moon" and "Old Man," released the album "Fu##in' Up" with Crazy Horse on April 25, featuring nine rock 'n' roll tracks. The two have released 15 studio albums together.

Young and Crazy Horse kicked off their brief 16-stop tour on April 24 in San Diego and will continue with upcoming stops in Virginia, New Jersey, New York and more.

Thursday's concert in Franklin was originally slated for Wednesday evening, but was postponed by a day due to  inclement weather .

But Thursday night brought the calm after the storm; the evening was serene.

Neil Young returns to Spotify after 2-year hiatus following Joe Rogan controversy

After opener Reverend Billy and the Church of Stop Shopping , a musical performance art experience that draws from religion, Young hit the stage.

The set-up featured a backdrop with a galloping horse and giant speaker cabinets and road cases, the same ones Young took on the road with him for his "Rust Never Sleeps" tour in 1978.

Young appeared in a striped cap, a denim work shirt that featured paint splatters and a Spartan Truck Equipment patch, black pants, black shoes and of course, his guitar, Old Black .

He mentioned the venue's beauty multiple times — a stage nestled in the woods of Graystone Quarry in Thompson’s Station.

"How you doin out there? Nice to see you," Young said to the Franklin crowd.

"What a beautiful place. You guys are very lucky to have this place."

Alongside Young was the band, comprised of 80-year-old Billy Talbot on bass and 80-year-old Ralph Molina on drums. They also have a new member, Micah Nelson on guitar.

Nelson, Willie Nelson 's 33-year-old son, took over for the band's previous guitarist Nils Lofgren earlier this year.

Throughout the show, Neil Young and the band played a 17-song set, full with jam sessions and occasional harmonies. Young was energized and playful, captivating the crowd with his trademark nasally, emotional voice.

The set list was mostly comprised of older hits, like 1969's "Cinnamon Girl" and 1972's "Heart of Gold."

The band didn't play any songs from their recent album; the most recent song was 1996's "Scattered (Let's Think About Livin')." Nelson's big moment came during the tune; he traded his guitar to play a swinging keyboard that descended from the ceiling.

Young's guitar playing—both electric and acoustic—was adept and agile. Though Young shared in January he has been playing guitar with arthritis in his hand for years, audience members wouldn't have guessed.

He played the blues on song "Vampire Blues," hitting guitar licks with a precision like Stevie Ray Vaughan's. He also performed drawn-out, warping guitar solos on songs like "Like a Hurricane" and "Powderfinger."

Between songs, Young would hand his guitar off to his techs (who all wore white lab coats), but was audibly uncomfortable until he had a guitar in his arms yet again.

The night's concert walked the line between a Young that leaned into classic, grunge rock 'n' roll with Crazy Horse and a Young that gently cooed with Crosby, Stills & Nash in '69, strumming an acoustic.

Young pulled off the balancing act.

Here are some of the top moments from the night.

Neil Young opens with 'Cortez the Killer,' sings newly released verse

On a purple-lit stage, Neil Young and Crazy Horse kicked off the show with the 1975 song "Cortez the Killer."

The first lyrics from Young brought cheers from the audience as he sang, "He came dancing across the water / With his galleons and guns."

Young surprised fans at the first concert of the tour by singing unreleased lyrics to the song, ones he said did not record due to a power outage on the recording console in 1975.

Young found the lyric manuscript, he said in an interview mid-April this year.

The verse was lost for nearly 50 years. Young sang the verse again in Franklin.

“I floated on the water / I ate that ocean wave / Two weeks after the slaughter/ I was living in a cave / They came too late to get me / But there’s no one here to set me free / From this rocky grave / To that snowed-out ocean wave.”

Neil Young calls on local non-profits to support his eco-friendly mission

Neil Young has been vocal about his environmental efforts throughout his career .

In 1985, Young helped establish the annual Farm Aid concerts . In 2022, he released album "World Record," an album that focuses on climate change. Later that year, Young said he refused to play venues that are supported by factory farms .

The environmentalism was felt at his Franklin show.

Upon entering the concert, fans saw a series of tents and tables from local environmental organizations all hand picked by Young, including Tennessee Local Food . The organizations attended the concert and chatted with fans about their missions.

Young calls it the "LOVE EARTH Village."

At different stops on the tour, hundreds of non-profits working for sustainability and social equity will join to chat about issues like organic farming, wildlife protection, Native American rights and climate change solutions.

According to a venue employee, Young also changed the menu for the venue's offerings on Thursday, opting for more eco-friendly options (Coke products were nowhere to be seen).

On a handout at the venue, Young wrote, "Support your friends, support your land, and support the people that want to care for the land.

"The revolution starts with us. The revolution starts with you."

Neil Young goes acoustic mid-show, takes stage alone

At one point, Young took an empty stage, traded Old Black for an acoustic, and donned the harmonica around his neck.

He sang songs, "Comes a Time," "Heart of Gold" and "Human Highway" onstage alone, leaning into his folk singer-songwriter roots.

Despite the occasional hoot or holler in the audience, a hush crept over the amphitheater as Young sang, played plucky guitar and showcased his harmonica skills between verses.

It was a gentler, softer and more intimate side to the evening.

"Heart of Gold" stood out among the acoustic section.

Young sang his biggest hit: "Keep me searching / For a heart of gold / I've been a miner / For a heart of gold."

An encore and...another encore

Before the encore, Young ended his set with song "Hey Hey, My My (Into the Black)," leaving the audience with the classic and singing, "Hey hey, my my / Rock and roll can never die."

And it didn't die just then, Young and the band returned to the stage to play "Roll Another Number (For the Road)" as their encore.

After the song finished, the audience didn't stop cheering. Young and company came back to deliver a second encore, this time three songs long.

For encore two, they performed "Danger Bird," "Don't Cry No Tears" and "Sedan Delivery," ending the night on a grungy rock 'n' roll note that included pink lights and plenty of reverb.

Afterwards, the band and Young gathered arm-in-arm in a single spotlight and gave their final bow.
