North Shore Circle Island Adventure Tour, by Hawaii Turtle Tours, Honolulu - highlights: Halona Blowhole lookout, Kuala Point, Dole plantation, Diamondhead, snorkeling on North Shore Good tour to some of Honolulu's main sightseeing spots & beach time for snorkeling. Convenient pick-up spots in downtown Waikiki. Devin, the tour guide, was knowledgeable & friendly, a native of Honolulu, he added some local flavor about various spots & recent history/politics. This could be dubbed the "eat snacks around Honolulu" tour - along the route, we stopped for macadamia nuts, fresh fruit, rice & shrimp (lunch), shaved ice & Dole whip (ice cream). Bring cash for lunch & other stops where you might want to pick something up. It was about 7 hours, hitting some of the natural "must-see" sightseeing spots on the island. As several really are just stop-and-see type spots, the tour was a good way to catch them all in 1 day. But note on Diamondhead - this stop is on the outside of the mountain/crater, if you want to get to the top, make time to come back later for a hike; tourists have to make reservations in advance. The highlight was the swim/snorkel with the sea turtles stop. I imagined more of a swim among a school of turtles (its probably not called a "school") kind of thing, although maybe that would've been a little scary, as they are kinda big. (Note - the sea turtles are protected by federal law so if you see them, leave them alone.) We did see turtles, very close - but they were actually easier to spot when we were out of the water than while swimming. The little bay area is a nice, cool sheltered area to swim & snorkel and was a fun swim break in the middle of the tour. Small bus, about 18 people on the tour, mostly family groups. I went solo on this tour and it was fun - so if you aren't sure about going alone - go for it!

Had a great time, Charlie our driver was funny, professional and very knowledgeable. Received a call the night before with our details and was very friendly. They picked us up by our hotel so easy, got us to the tour Early! and was very thorough with what we needed to do and what time to be back. He turned the air conditioner while we waited for the others to return so we were comfortable. He took us around the island and showed so many points of interest and gave us suggestions on where to eat. Would definitely work with them again!! Thanks for the great time!!!
Liars! We signed up to be picked up at our hotel. After we paid. They told us we had to go to them, adding an Uber fee.
I booked a coffee cruise on The Viamia in Waikiki through Trip Advisor. Immediately upon booking, $214.20 was withdrawn from my account. 2 days later, on the morning of my booking it was cancelled with no notification. I contacted the operator who would not issue a refund, said I needed to contact Viator. Contacted Viator via phone and email. I forwarded copies of cancelled tour. I received zero resolution, asked to speak to a supervisor and I was hung up on. I called back and they said they couldn't locate the reservation after the agent told me she had it on front of her when I informed her that she had said that, and that I had recorded our conversation, she miraculously found it and said they were waiting for confirmation it was cancelled. When I informed her that confirmation was sent, she hung up on me. Then I received an email to expect refund on 3-7 business days. So, they had my money ($214.20) for over a week. Mo ry that I did not have access to while on vacation and for which I received no goods or services . I DO not recommend booking with Trip Advisor or Viator. It is a scam.
Volcanoes National Park, Rainbow Falls and Highlights Tour on Hawaii Big Island Our guide, Gio, took us to a Hawaii Natural grocery store to eat, and majority of the food was for vegan. Most of the passengers didn't eat or ended up buying snack. Gio kept insisting it's a wonderful place. He said he was vegan. Gio was very informative, but his presentation sounded like he memorized it the best he could. Plus he told us his depressing story about his hardship when he lost his house to the last volcano eruption. His presentation was not very upbeat. I think he thought it was. Plus my niece became very ill that morning and could not come. I was denied a refund for her. Saddest experience I ever had.
We used visitor to boom Paradise Cove Luao and it was a two star experience start to finish. The good - round trip transportation on a nice large bus with AC to and from paradise grove/Waikiki downtown resort area; the meat (both the pork and chicken were actually really good; the dancers/fire show and singers). The bad - the location itself was severely run down - it was like someone had dropped buildings from the 1950/ (that hadn't been well maintained at all) into an idealized setting and were charging you $165/pp to be there...the buildings were old and run down, the "activities" were cliche and you had to wait in HUGE lines to do anything (including getting drinks). The seating was uncomfortable af (very old plastic chairs). The staff was friendly for the most part but the whole thing felt very icky, cheap tourist trap. I'm not sure if this is how the other Oahu luaos are but viator did NOT do anyone any favors by advertising it as a top pic. We will NOT use their services again and if you're expecting something authentic and classy, do NOT go to paradise grove.

What a poorly described tour. They didn't have thier stand/meeting point identified..high cluster trying to get into the Memorial...guards stopping all...no purses or bags...had to pay an additional $8 to check the bags in before entering...lots of confusion if you can or can't take a camera...they don't tell you that the boat ticket $1.50 can't be purchased on line...more cluster Oh and by they way NOWHERE do they say the boats to the memorial are closed from 12 to 1 pm. We never found the tour guide.. $64 down the drain. This is the WORST tour I've never been on.. This is a shame and boarders on disrespect for this honored site.
Worst company ever! We live in Hawaii and our family came to visit. We booked a Kualoa Ranch Tour through Viator. We booked for 11:20am. Then we received an email saying two of our family members had the tour scheduled for 11am. When I called to ask why, the agent was really rude, told me they can't do anything about it because there's no refund and they can't change anything. I said I booked everybody for 11:20am and not 11am. That only two out of 7 people had their time changed. They made me call Kualoa Ranch and the operator said since I booked through Viator, that they are the ones that can make the changes but the 11:20am tour was already full. But there were openings slots for the 12:20pm tour. So I called Viator back and they said they couldn't change the times for 12:20pm tour, and there were no refunds because of their policy. I said I wasn't trying to get a refund and the only reason I wanted to changed the time it was because they made the changes without my consent. And why would I book two of our family members to do the tour without the rest of us. I was put on hold for nearly 55 mins. I stayed a total of 1:30 hrs on the phone with them and they didn't solve the problem. Luckily the staff at Kualoa Ranch accommodated us and put all of us on the 12:20pm tour. Please do not use Viator for anything. They are all about money. They don't care about customers satisfaction and their whole staff is rude and robots. All they kept saying was: we have a policy. But if your company makes a mistake then you should fix it and not keep on saying you have a policy. I don't want to change your policy. I just wanted to fix your own mistake. Very poor customer service. I'll spread the word of how horrible this company is with all the guests I have at my bar (I'm a bartender at a resort in Koolina) and warn them to stay away from Viator. I HAD to give 1 star but this company deserves a minus 5 stars. I have a screen shot of how long I stayed on the phone with Viator and they still didn't solve the issue.
I booked and prepaid for a small group tour of 4 people for a Vatican semi private tour of the Vatican museum, guided visit to St Peter's Basilica, Sistine Chapel, with audio headsets. The day of the scheduled tour the local tour provider did not have a guide available but one of their employees lead us into the arrival area and purchased 4 tickets totaling 68e and said you are on your own. The total cost Viator was $375.40, after I contacted Viator they issued a partial refund of $164.12 indicating the case was final and do not expect an additional refund. Viator made $211.28 and provided no service at all. I expected a full refund of $375.40 although they stood firm with their partial refund, case closed. Not the customer service response was I expecting.
This business is a rip off. We booked for Pearl Harbor tour but had to cancel. This company was going to charge us almost $300. For a tour. When we got to the tour itself, parts of our tour were free and the Pearl Harbor was $44.00. Never use a third party booking company. Call directly to the office you wish to book a tour to or just buy the ticket when you get to your destination.

I hope you get a better answer. And you will want to research further.
I do know that Viator is the arm of Trip Advisor for selling tours and such.
NOoooooooooo.
They are a terrible operation. TONS of complaints about them.
Just try to go stand by.
No way! Tours like that are SO confining ... I bet you'll end up ditching them and taking a cab home.
A “tour” for Pearl Harbor is nothing more than very expensive transportation . Try for the close to the dates for the Navy Launch and the Memorial. You could take http://www.TheBus.org for $5.50/pp round trip. There are many wonderful sites to see at PH even if you don’t get on the USS Arizona. There is a museum with great displays going thru that fateful day. Also you can see the Bowfin, the USS Missouri, the Aviation Museum and many other plaques and stories in the whole area.
We normally never take tours for the reasons you mentioned, but thought that might guarantee my family a "ticket" out to the memorial... that's what I'm trying to get clarification on. Our plan was to ditch the tour after the USS Memorial ;)
Thank you, this is the kind of info I'm looking for... it seems the info on the Viator page about each tour is a bit vague and may not be completely up to date with how the new reservation system works. I don't want to book a tour if actually getting out to the memorial is not a sure thing.
They can't guarantee the launch to the Memorial. It can be cancelled because of winds or other issues.
SW's comment #8 - is so true. Afternoons can be particularly dicey. Take the earliest tickets you can get.
I booked at the website recreation.gov. There is a $1.00 per ticket booking fee. That’s it. The site specifically says that not all tickets are made available at once so keep checking to see if more tickets are released.
Take the bus or a taxi. Much cheaper than a tour and you actually visit the iconic white building in the harbor.
Viator is a tour consolidator. It a website selling other companies tours. Viator does not conduct any of the tours. Viator can give you a lot of ideas but I prefer to book directly with the company actually conducting the tour.

First Timer's Guide to Oahu First Timer's Guide to Oahu
The most popular of the Hawaiian Islands, Oahu is like a Polynesian postcard come to life. From surfing off Waikiki Beach and watching a festive luau to eating your way around Chinatown, here are all the must-do's for visiting this Hawaiian island.
Home to the majority of Oahu’s tourism infrastructure, it’s difficult to avoid Waikiki. And, really, why would you want you? The world-famous stretch of golden sand, Waikiki Beach, is the quintessential image of Oahu and a must-see starting point for your Oahu trip. And you’ll find plenty to do there—shopping, dining, surfing, swimming, and more. This is also the usual departure point for cruises, including whale-watching excursions and sunset dinner cruises.
- Viator: Tours & Attractions Viator View on App Store
That picture-perfect view of Waikiki always seems to feature the volcanic backdrop of Diamond Head. One of Hawaii’s most recognizable landmarks, Diamond Head is also the site of one of the best hikes you can take on Oahu. Head to the 760-foot (231-meter) summit for unparalleled views of Waikiki Beach and the Honolulu skyline. Tackle the hike early in the morning to beat the heat, and consider a guided hike for a more in-depth experience of the place that native Hawaiians know as Lē‘ahi.
One of the oldest Chinatowns in the US, Honolulu’s Chinatown is a vibrant gathering place filled with some of the island’s best places to eat. Trendy restaurants and cocktail bars sit side by side with decades-old hole-in-the-wall noodle shops, dim sum spots, and bakeries where you can get a filling meal even on a tight budget. Take a guided food tour for a deep dive into the local food scene. And if you’re visiting on the first Friday of the month, the streets turn into a festival.
One of the island’s top attractions is the USS Arizona Memorial, where visitors can learn about the attack on Pearl Harbor during World War II. A visit to the Bishop Museum offers insights into traditional Hawaiian culture and the archipelago’s relationship to the rest of the Pacific Islands, while Iolani Palace provides a glimpse into Hawaii’s royal history. At the colorful Polynesian Cultural Center, Pacific cultures come to life through vivid performances, exhibitions, and a luau.
Typically departing from Waikiki, full-day Circle Island tours circumnavigate the whole island and are an excellent way to experience many of Oahu’s highlights, such as the Halona Blowhole, Makapuu Point, the North Shore, Hanauma Bay, and the Dole Plantation, all while getting valuable insights into local culture and history. As it can be a long day, opt for a tour that includes lunch (garlic shrimp on the North Shore is a local favorite).
Sun-worshippers will be thrilled to know that Oahu has enough stretches of white sand to spend each day of a 2-week vacation on a different beach. But don’t go home without getting off the sand and into the water. Consider a snorkeling excursion or kayaking tour, try your hand at surfing, or learn how to stand-up paddleboard with a lesson on the beach. If you’d rather stay dry, head out onto the ocean on a whale-watching tour, a glass-bottom boat adventure, or a relaxing sunset cruise.
One of the most colorful and entertaining experiences to be had on Oahu is a luau, a Hawaiian-style feast featuring music, dance, cultural demonstrations, and performances from around Hawaii and the islands of Polynesia. Visitors have lots of luau options on Oahu, with regular events held in some of the island’s most scenic locations, from Waimea Valley and Paradise Cove to Makapuu Beach.
It’s all about the waves on the North Shore, home to the world-famous breaks of Pipeline, Sunset, and Waimea. But you don’t have to be a surfer to love the North Shore. You can snorkel in turtle-filled waters, hike to Waimea Falls, and refuel with a plate of garlic shrimp and a cone of shave ice from the area’s best food trucks. And those world-famous beaches are perfect for swimming in summer and watching surfers ride monster waves in the winter.
Enjoy a bird’s-eye view of Oahu’s most-famous landmarks—such as Diamond Head, Maunalua Bay, the Ko'olau Mountains, Ka'a'awa Valley, and Pearl Harbor—on a helicopter tour. Taking to the skies provides a unique perspective that most visitors miss out on and many helicopter tour operators offer the option of a doors-on or door-off experience. Some even time the flights to coincide with sunset for an even more scenic experience.
A testament to Oahu’s strong Japanese heritage, the Byodo-In Temple is a lush sanctuary tucked into the foothills of the Windward coast’s Koʻolau mountain range. A scale replica of a temple in Japan’s Kyoto Prefecture, the vermillion red temple was built in 1968 to commemorate the centennial of the first Japanese immigrants in Hawaii. Seemingly a world away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki, it’s a quiet and contemplative spot and surrounded by manicured gardens and koi-filled ponds.

The 23 Best Hawaii Tours
Make the most of your visit to the Aloha State with one of these top-rated excursions.

With so much to explore in Hawaii, it's best to start your trip with a knowledgeable guide.

The best way to see these jaw-dropping sights is with a guided tour. Led by in-the-know locals, these tours will help you experience all of the state's incredible wildlife, scenery, culture and food. Client Reviews
"The staff are super friendly and very informative of the area and give tourist a great time. The will make side stops so you can see extra sights on your way to your destination. They pick you up at or near your hotel and shuttle you to your destination which I recommend you do because many of these site have limited parking and you may not get in if you drive. We went to Diamond head hike and Hanauma Bay and both were worth every penny."
"My son and I loved our tour to Hanauma Bay for snorkeling. Our tour guide was funny and friendly and shared all sorts of information about Oahu, Hanauma Bay, snorkeling equipment, and he even had laminated sheets with all of the fish we could see and their names. Tour guide was from Brazil, I can’t remember his name but he was awesome. Hanauma Bay is the best snorkeling spot on Oahu and is a must see!"
"This tour company was so amazing. We took 3 tours with them and one we were at the wrong pick up place and they called and got us and then on the last tour we were the only ones on the van so they dropped us off right at our condo we were staying at! Great service !!"
