With content being removed at an increasing rate from sites like YouTube, Video DownloadHelper can help ensure that you save your favorite clips to your hard drive and in the format of your choice.

The purpose of Video DownloadHelper is to make the download and conversion process as quick as possible. When installed, Video DownloadHelper installs a multicolored icon, which appears next to your URL bar. When your browser detects a video, the icon animates indicating that there is content available to download. A drop-down item next to the icon indicates the videos on the page you can download.

The great thing is that you can configure the format that you want it to download it in and it works for just about any site with Flash video. To change the format downloaded, just go to preferences, which can be accessed by right-clicking on the icon and choosing 'Preferences'. If there are several videos, you can download more than one at a time, or just one by one to save bandwidth.

I've been using this plug-in for some time now and there is little to fault in it - it's definitely one of the best video download plug-ins I've ever used. However, I've noticed that occasionally, when watching videos in full-screen mode, Firefox has crashed and the error reporter has labeled this plugin as one of the culprits, so I do deactivate it from time to time.

Overall though, Video DownloadHelper is one of the best video download plug-ins you could wish for in Firefox.

4.9.22 broken. This has always been a useful tool however the new version, 4.9.22 is broken. I can no longer download uTube videos. I tried uni nstalling and re-installing the old version but I can't get that to work now as well. déçu par récente mise à jour. Mes téléchargements sur sites streaming s'arrêtent systématiquement au bou t de 19 mo (environ) sur une vidéo de 150mo par exemple  Plus

Excellent. J'ai essayé plusieurs programmes de capture / conversion. Download helper est de loin le plus convivial et le plus efficace. Il suffit de se laisser convertir à firefox et tout est sous la main. Chargez la page souhaitée cliquez pour lancer la video souhaitée et le petit logo de download helper se met à pivoter sur lui même pour vous indiquer qu'il est pret à télécharger le fichier.Mon seul problème actuellement est la configuration du module de conversion des fichiers video capturés sous mac ... là je bloque un peu.  Plus

Any video on any site from YouTube to well...any video. Look, on Firefox, you can download a video download helper for free. The add on become those three revolving rain color balls. Next to it is a symbol, that when you start a video, and click on that little inverted triangle, shows the name of the video, then a menu appears asking if you want a regular download, a quick download etc. It's a very simple way of downloading videos onto your desktop or anywhere else you choose. So....and thnk you for your time....is there an equilalent download helper for Safair?

There is the Free iTube Grabber which can capture almost any audio and/or video stream (it says here) but only works with Intel Macs.

As soon as the movie starts, pause it and add 'pwn' in front of the youtube part of the url so it looks like this:

I think he needs it for any video rather than just Youtube only, as these are now quite easy to come by. Video Helper is for all sites 😉

You may download videos directly on Safari without extension or other tools. Open up Safari and forward to "Windows" tab, and then click "Activity". Keep the activity window opening and navigate to the video page. You will quickly notice the list on activity window has changed, you then look into the item with largest size which is supposed to be the source video. You can then simply double-click on it to download it (source: http://goo.gl/BmyNGY )
