Hello and welcome to Orbit World Travel. To find out about our background we need to take a look all the way back to 1994, when our Founding Partner and Director, Lisa Story, took a calculated leap purchasing what was then a Westpac Travel office in Sydney’s Double Bay.

This modest single office was where Orbit World Travel (formerly World Travel Professionals) was established. The business quickly grew with offices opening in Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and the Gold Coast.

So successful was this venture that in 2013 the House of Travel Group saw an opportunity to expand their Orbit Travel corporate brand in Australia and invested in the business. In 2016 Orbit Travel in New Zealand and World Travel Professionals rebranded to form Orbit World Travel, becoming the largest privately owned corporate travel company in Australasia.

Our growth didn’t stop there, in 2019 we joined the Travel Leaders Network, further expanding our global reach… and then the pandemic hit. We’re using the valuable lessons learnt during this time to build an even stronger business for our people, clients, suppliers and shareholders.

Orbit Groups & Events are looking for a group travel consultant, specialising in sports.  The successful candidate will work on a variety of sporting codes, both domestic and internationally. The successful applicant will require experience in this specialised sector and have the ability to liaise with our preferred travel providers (airlines, hotel and rental car providers etc.).

You will be dynamic, motivated, and share the company's commitment to delivering outstanding customer service every time.

The portfolio is diverse with a combination of corporate, association and leisure groups.    While fulltime is preferred, part-time applicants will be considered (as will remote candidates).

What we are looking for:

• At least 2-3 years group travel experience
• A flexible work approach
• Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines as required
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Exceptional time management and attention to detail are essential
• High level of administration and computer skills
• Proven GDS Experience – Amadeus preferred
• Previous experience with Tramada an asset

World Travel Protection’s local arm bolstered by Zurich integration

Zurich Insurance Group will utilise World Travel Protection’s assistance and advisory services to enhance its offering.

World Travel Protection said the move would help to bolster its Australian arm, with parent-company Zurich set to leverage the former’s services through its business travel solution.

Zurich announced it will now offer what it describes as “comprehensive business travel solutions”, including a larger international servicing network, broader insurance coverage and new capabilities to support travellers and risk managers through technology.

“Over the last 12 months, despite the challenges of a global pandemic, the World Travel Protection team, with the support of our parent company Zurich, have invested heavily in our technology and capability to build a global, leading, full-assistance service from our operations in Brisbane, Toronto and Shanghai,” WTP’s Australian-based CEO, Adrian Leach, said.

“Being integrated into the Zurich offering to support corporations in navigating their travel risk management obligations marks another milestone for WTP.”

According to Zurich’s global head of accident and health, Drazen Jaksic, implementing a multinational business travel solution is now more important than ever to prevent employees from being harmed and subsequently protect the business from the financial consequences.

“Risks associated with business travel are changing and becoming more complex as exemplified this year by the COVID-19 pandemic, a rise in civil unrest, as well as extreme weather events and related catastrophes,” Zurich said in a statement.

“As employees become increasingly exposed to such risks, companies have a greater obligation to ensure the health and safety of their workforce.”

Jaksic added: “It also gives companies and their employees the knowledge that, as business travel returns, the safety and well-being of all employees is at the forefront of business and travel decisions.”

Zurich Business Travel Solution is supported by WTP’s technology and data, including a mobile application with country risk information and geolocation alerts for business travellers, and a travel portal for risk managers.

Riley originally world premiered at September’s Calgary International Film Festival. Additional festival selections have seen the young adult drama travel to San Luis Obispo where it won an honorable mention for Best Narrative Feature, BFI Flare in London, and the forthcoming Bentonville Film Fest where it plays in competition. Riley is a Windsor Film Company production in association with Charterhouse Films. Tommy Anderson and Laura Scarano produce alongside Howard.

Riley completes a trio of young adult titles for Rapt Films alongside Corey Sherman’s US comedy Big Boys and Gabriel Carrubba’s Australian drama Sunflower .
