You Am I – ‘The Waterboy’
“Hey punk, we put on our troos one leg at a time just like any dandies, but after we do we know what we’re s’posed to Dü, and that’s make a motherlovin racket,” frontman Tim Rogers said in a press statement.
“After playing songs by the Who-men and before Tapping into the East Coast with Them Darknesses we are hoping to finish writing a new LP whilst playing a lotta toons we haven’t in yonks on the Troos Tour. Bunch from #4 ? Why the frug not. Dress Me ? Hell yes. Picking through the catalogue like 3am Discogging or 4am eBaying for Welcome Back Kotter merch. Dress Slowly and irresponsibly, let us deliver the cream and the crock. Land Ho!”
If you need that translated, Rogers is referring to the fact that You Am I will also be supporting UK rockers The Darkness on their 2024 Australian East Coast tour , while also casually mentioning that the band have got a new album on the way.
As for the headline tour setlist, fans can expect a range of material from You Am I’s early EPs and albums, right up to 2021’s critically acclaimed long player, The Lives of Others .

You Am I will play The Who's Tommy at 12 shows around Australia
- X (formerly Twitter)
You Am I 's love of British rock'n'roll icons The Who is well-established and has been for decades.
The Aussie band have made no secret of the inspiration they've garnered from the band and songwriters and performers, paying homage to the band on stage and on record in countless ways over the years.
They are taking their adoration to a new level this year, setting out on a 12-date tour in which they'll play one of The Who's all-time classic albums, 1969 rock opera Tommy , in its entirety.
"A preposterous proposition of pomp power n pithiness to be performed by our pop group with pals," Tim Rogers said in a statement.
"We promise to plunder deep and perform in full plumage with no panache, just passions. Prost!"
Those pals are mighty talented ones too, with former Jezabels frontwoman and excellent solo artist Hayley Mary , and fellow solo artist and frontwoman of The Superjesus Sarah McLeod both jumping in the bus and joining You Am I on vocals at each show.
" Tommy is like A Clockwork Orange meets Almost Famous in album form; a dark eccentric and cutting critique of fatherlessness and fame and that rings truer now than ever," Mary said.
"I can't wait to sink my teeth into the disturbing themes and help bring some of these colourful characters to life across the country."
"I have always loved You Am I, they are a killer band with such swagger, I’ve always wanted to play with them," McLeod said.
"We’ve talked about all sorts of collaborations for years but playing Tommy in its entirety takes the cake, this is going to be so epic!"
As well as making their way through Tommy , the band and their guests will stuff the set with some key tracks from The Who's career.
Catch this celebration of rock'n'roll history at the following shows. Tickets are on sale from 11am Thursday 20 April.

You Am I Performing The Who’s Tommy
ARIA Award-winning, acclaimed Australian rock band You Am I, will pay homage to one of their greatest influences, The Who, as they play their legendary album, Tommy, as well as a set of Who classics.
You Am I performing the Who’s Tommy with special guest vocalists Hayley Mary and Sarah McLeod.
c They will be fronted by two of Australia’s most accomplished female rock voices, Hayley Mary and Sarah McLeod, who will share vocals with Tim Rogers to bring the songs to life.
Tommy is the fourth studio longplayer from English rock band The Who, a double album released in May 1969. It was largely composed by the band’s guitarist Pete Townshend, and is presented as a rock opera telling the story of Tommy Walker.
Front man Tim Rogers enthuses, “A preposterous proposition of pomp power n pithiness to be performed by our popgroup with pals. We promise to plunder deep and perform in full plumage with no panache, just passions. Prost!”
Hayley Mary explains, “I’m so excited to perform one of rock’s most influential albums, by one of the world’s most revered bands, with some of Australia’s finest musicians! ‘Tommy’ is like ‘A Clockwork Orange’ meets ‘Almost Famous’ in album form; a dark eccentric and cutting critique of fatherlessness and fame and that rings truer now than ever. I can’t wait to sink my teeth into the disturbing themes and help bring some of these colourful characters to life across the country.”
Sarah McLeod is equally excited, saying “ I have always loved You Am I , they are a killer band with such swagger , I’ve always wanted to play with them . We’ve talked about all sorts of collaborations for years but playing Tommy in its entirety takes the cake, this is going to be so epic!”

LIVE REVIEW: YOU AM I – The You’s Pull Up Their Troos Tour
Freo.social , fremantle, wa - 25th november 2023.
27 November 2023 The Rockpit
You Am I managed to hit the west coast of Australia during possibly the hottest November on record pushing out three shows in three days. It was a hot and heavy show at Freo Social last Saturday as the boys gave a full house of loyal followers the rock’n’roll treatment.
Fans filled the pit well in advance, preparing for the shenanigans that lay ahead. Tim Rogers led the charge with a taste of colourful Aussie rock. Andy Kent, Russell Hopkinson and Davey Lane fleshing out all parts of the stage and bringing their well-loved catalogue of hits to life.
The energy transfer from the crowd to the stage was felt around the room as fans sang along to their favourite songs and Davey Lane filled any gaps with his guitar mastery. The 40-degree weather had absolutely knocked the wind out of our sails, but in true You Am I style, they managed to lift the vibe and the temperature, and ripped through their set list to the delight of the crowd.
With thanks to Revolutions Per Minute for the media access.

Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell in "Anyone But You."
Anyone But You finally made its Netflix streaming debut, which is exciting news for rom-com fans everywhere. As you watch the movie, you might be wondering where Anyone But You was filmed and if you can visit the breathtaking beaches, cliffs, and other locations in real life.
Loosely adapted from Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing,” Anyone But You stars Glen Powell as Ben, a finance bro who has an incredible first date with Bea (Sydney Sweeney), a law student uncertain about her career. After spending the night, Bea panics and leaves without telling him. When she realizes she made a mistake and returns to his apartment, she overhears Ben saying that she is a “nothing” to him.
Years later, they unexpectedly reunite at a destination wedding in Australia for Bea’s sister, who is marrying Ben’s friend. When their exes show up, they pretend to be a couple—and the rest is history. The film was directed and co-written by Will Gluck, the filmmaker behind rom-coms like Easy A and Friends with Benefits . It was released in December and had an impressive run at the box office, surpassing $88 million domestically and $219 million worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo .
After its release, the movie went viral on TikTok as audience goers reacted to the film’s credit sequence, which features the cast dancing and singing to Natasha Bedingfield’s nostalgic 2004 hit “Unwritten,” a song highlighted throughout the film. There were also rumors of an off-screen romance between Powell and Sweeney that helped promote the film, as well as the actors’ flirty publicity tour and Sydney Sweeney’s SNL monologue .
Now, Anyone But You is back in the limelight after the film was released on Netflix on April 23, quickly becoming the No. 1 movie on the platform in the U.S. after just one day.

Anyone But You was filmed in parts of Australia around New South Wales and Sydney. Director Will Gluck told The Hollywood Reporter that he wanted the film set in Sydney because he had “really fallen in love with the city” and liked it so much he moved his family there.
“Almost every time you shoot a movie in Sydney, you have to pretend it’s somewhere else and frame out the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. For Anyone But You , I thought, “Why do that?” We actually wrote this movie 100 percent for Sydney — very specific to the destination,” Gluck wrote.
The director continued, “We flew helicopters all over — seeing the city from that vantage point is stunning — and landed one at the Opera House, shut down the Harbour Bridge, filmed at the Queen Victoria Building, and shot for two weeks overlooking Bondi Beach,” he said. “We spent a week on a boat in Sydney Harbour shooting a scene where they’re stranded on a buoy, but you can’t have humans in the water without a shark cage, so we had to have one the whole time. You pinch yourself. It’s so unbelievable we were actually doing these things.”
Here are a few specific Anyone But You filming locations you can visit in person.
Sydney Opera House
The Sydney Opera House is a focal point in Anyone But You. The 20th-century architectural landmark serves as a gorgeous backdrop for big moments, including the end scene when Ben passionately kisses Bea, who is standing at the top of the steps. You can visit the performing arts center for special events and tours.
Marks Park, Bondi
Located in Sydney's northern suburbs, the wedding scene in Anyone But You was filmed at Marks Park overlooking Bondi Beach and the Pacific Ocean. The cliff-top park is open to the public and has fitness stations, a playground, and some shaded areas.

Many of Anyone But You ’s breathtaking beach scenes were filmed around Palm Beach. Director Will Gluck told THR that one of the best parts of filming was on location in Palm Beach, a suburb in the Northern Beaches.
“Our caravans were parked right on the water, and Glen and Sydney and I decided to live there the whole time. We’d shoot all day and all the crew would go home, then we’d jump in the water and have a swim, go to our trailers and have dinner sitting outside,” he said. “It’s one of the most beautiful places in the world, and you normally wouldn’t be allowed to sleep there. It was probably the most fun I’ve ever had filming.”
Jones Bay Wharf

The historic Jones Bay Wharf is another familiar filming location in Anyone But You. The hidden gem in the Pyrmont district is home to fine dining restaurants, charming cafes, and beautiful views the of the city and Harbour Bridge.

While on their way to collect flowers for the wedding, Ben and his friend Pete are seen walking alongside the Queen Victoria Building. The Romanesque 19th-century building is actually a five-level shopping center with fashion boutiques, jewelry stores, cafes, and restaurants.
Anyone But You is now streaming on Netflix.

The weeknd cancels australia and new zealand tour.
The Weeknd has cancelled the Australia and New Zealand leg of his After Hours Til Dawn tour.
Ticketek emailed concert ticket holders on Tuesday stating that full refunds would be made while the company tries to “work through the rescheduling process with the artist.”
The tour was first postponed in November last year due to “unforeseen circumstances”.
The Australian leg of the star’s tour was set to include a concert at Sydney’s Accor Stadium and Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium, with other dates to follow.
But now all dates have been cancelled, with Ticketek recommending fans to sign up to a waitlist in case the dates do get rescheduled down the track.
“The Weeknd ‘After Hours Til Dawn Tour’ for Australia & New Zealand is still in the process of being rescheduled. While we continue to work through the rescheduling process with the artist, tickets for the existing 2023 tour will be cancelled,” Ticketek stated on its website.
“All purchased tickets will receive a full refund.
“Ticket holders of the shows who previously held on to their tickets will be able to access a priority purchase window for the new tour in Australia and New Zealand when announced.
“In order to gain access to the priority pre-sale, please make sure you opt in and join the waitlist here.
“Tickets will be automatically refunded in full (including refundable ticket purchases, if applicable) to the original payment method used for purchase and patrons do not need to take any action.
“Patrons should allow approximately 30 business days for the refund to appear in their account.”
The Weeknd, real name Abel Tesfaye, has yet to post about the Australia and New Zealand cancellation on social media.
His most recent Instagram post was made on April 13, hinting that a new album was dropping soon.
But plenty of Australian fans were also dropping into the comments, hoping for some more information about when he would appear Down Under.
“Bro completely forgot about his Australia tour,” one fan wrote.
“Did you forget Australia?” wondered another.
“Ok cool, release Australia dates?” begged another.
On Tuesday, some fans headed back to that April 13 post to express their frustration at the tour being cancelled.
“So f***ing mad ... just got the email,” one wrote.
“WHAT NO PLEASE NO,” wrote another.
“RIP the aus/nz tour got cancelled 💀💀,” added a third.
