They don't offer any discounts for seniors or military. I've taken the tour twice no love shown for the above mentioned!
I purchased a private tour for some family members to broaden their knowledge of Los Angeles, and it was great. They came back with new insights and requested that Big Mike start a podcast . The experience booking with Hodari (the owner) was easy, and Big Mike picked them up at a local library nearby. I have recommended the tour to other people, Angelenos who have not been to Watts Towers and other notable places.
Moon gave us a great view of the LA Hood lifestyle while combining rap history. Not your traditional tour, it's filled with personal stories.
The tour with Mooney was great! He went into depth about everything we saw. Definitely a great experience and worth the money. 10/10!
While visiting Los Angeles, we decided to take the LA Hood Life Tour. I was skeptical at first. Big Mike was so knowledgeable, friendly and personable. The tour was worth it. I would recommend this tour to everyone looking for some good urban history. Best part of the tour was the stop at Nipsey Hussle's Marathon Store at Nipsey Hussle Square. Definitely, the highlight of our family trip.

This tour was one of the best things I did in LA. I booked a solo tour and Steve picked me up at my hotel. Our first stop was the liquor store, and immediately I realized that everyone knows Steve. I felt completely safe the whole trip, which I was a little worried about beforehand. I've been a rap fan since my childhood and always wanted to see where Dr. Dre, Snoop, Ice Cube, Eazy E, NWA came from. This was my shot, and I took it. I even hit the blunt after a few beers, it was all good. After hitting the sherm and checking out the sites, me and Steve went to Jameson's on Hollyweird Boulevard after the tour. That's how cool Steve is. Do not miss this tour while visiting LA, or if you just live in LA. P.S. Thanks for teaching me the gang signs!
Excellent tour. Steve was a very knowledgeable and informative guide. Very well organized tour in a new ford transit full size van, with many landmarks, apartment buildings and homes pointed out. Stops at key murals, watts towers, liquor store, etc. so you get a chance to walk around and take photos. Very well done and I would recommend to anyone who wants to see south l.a. firsthand.
Hood Tour..Steve was awesome! I say again Steve was awesome! Extremely knowledgeable, great applicable music, & probably best tour I have ever been on & I travel the globe and take tours everywhere!
This was my introduction to the hood life. We went to South Central La .... Compton, Crenshaw, Watts, etc ... I was in the hood for real. To actually see the area and the people living here was surreal. It's not just colors, gang bangers and low riders that we see and hear about everyday, it's mostly people just like us doing the best they can with what they have . We also went to skid row, it was heart breaking . I had no idea skid row was so large , it was blocks and blocks and blocks of people living in whatever they could make into a home. It was a reality that I felt my son needed to see first hand . Seeing their realities was heartbreaking and eye opening . I most certainly will contact various agencies in the area to provide financial resources for all that is being done to provide support (food, shelter, clothing and medical support) to the people living in this area. No one could believe I wanted to go on the "hoodlife" tour but everyone said this was by far the best tour they've ever been on.

Had the chance to finally take the hood life tour and I will be taking it at least one more time as well. Ex was our knowledgeable tour guide and took us through the many hoods of LA as well as many well known movie scenes. We got to see many good places to eat and it was just an overall great experience, non rushed and enjoyable! Thanks again

If you walk down Hollywood Boulevard on a regular sunny day, taking note of the names of stars you step on along the Walk of Fame, it's likely you'll be stopped at least a few times by people running sightseeing tours of movie stars homes, Hollywood landmarks and film locations, but there's one tour that will take you deep into the heart of one of LA's most famous areas. It's an area that may not have the glitz and glam, but where some of the most influential musicians of our time came from: Compton.
LA Hood Life Tours take you to where Dr. Dre , Kendrick Lamar , Nipsey Hussle and West Coast Hip-Hop started. Founder Hodari Sababu got the idea for the tour when he was given an assignment in a class he was taking to come up with a business.
"On a whim I'm like 'A Hood Tour!' " he recalls. "Nobody does a tour that goes to the hood and there's so much interest in the movies and music and all that. That's why I knew the tour would be successful."
Today, for our Sense Of Place series, join me on a tour of South Central LA.

Jerry Seinfeld Says 'Movie Business Is Over' and Has Been Replaced by 'Disorientation'
The 'Unfrosted' director and star also pointed to depression, malaise, and confusion as having replaced "the movie business."
Jerry Seinfeld , whose feature directorial debut Unfrosted arrives next month, says the movie business has been replaced by constant "disorientation."
Indeed, in a recent interview with Brett Martin for GQ , the decades-strong comedian reflected on the experience of helming his first-ever feature while praising the "dead serious" hard work of the entire team behind the Netflix film. Per Seinfeld, who last went the film route by starring in and co-writing 2007’s Bee Movie , these individuals "don’t have any idea that the movie business is over."
View this photo on Instagram
Elaborating further, Seinfeld gave his assessment of film’s current moment, arguing that movies don’t "occupy the pinnacle in the social, cultural hierarchy" as they did before. But Seinfeld does have some theories on what may have taken film's place.
"Depression? Malaise? I would say confusion ," he said in the interview, available here . "Disorientation replaced the movie business. Everyone I know in show business, every day, is going, What’s going on? How do you do this? What are we supposed to do now? "
Unfrosted , also starring Melissa McCarthy and Jim Gaffigan, takes viewers back to 1963 Michigan, where a battle for what ultimately becomes Pop-Tarts takes center stage. As Seinfeld himself recently explained, while the battle between Kellogg’s and Post did indeed transpire, the rest of his film " is complete lunacy ." The cast also counts Hugh Grant, Amy Schumer, Bill Burr, Adrian Martinez, Fred Armisen, Christian Slater, and more.

This month, Seinfeld popped in on Curb Your Enthusiasm for the beloved HBO comedy's series finale, which brilliantly brought the shared worlds of Curb and Seinfeld to a close by repeating the latter's finale 1998 finale. It was a move fans had been theorizing about since Curb 's final season began, and one would have a hard time imagining any better or more befitting a sendoff for Larry David 's undeniable classic.
Meanwhile, Seinfeld is set to be on the road through at least October, starting with back-to-back shows at the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts in Santa Rosa later this week. Seinfeld is also set to hit Louisville, Nashville, New Orleans, Perth Sydney, and more in the coming weeks.

What to stream this weekend: Conan O’Brien travels, ‘Migration’ soars and Taylor Swift reigns
This combination of images show promotional art for upcoming shows “Under The Bridge,” premiering April 17 on Hulu, “The Spiderwick Chronicles,” premiering April 19 on The Roku Channel and “Conan O’Brien Must Go,” premiering April 18 on MAX. (Hulu/The Roku Channel/MAX via AP)

Zack Snyder’s “Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver” landing on Netflix and Taylor Swift’s “The Tortured Poets Department” album are some of the new television, movies, music and games headed to a device near you.
Also among the streaming offerings worth your time as selected by The Associated Press’ entertainment journalists : A family of ducks is coaxed into flying south for the winter in the animated movie “Migration” and Conan O’Brien as the brunt of jokes is on full display in his new travel show “Conan O’Brien Must Go” for Max.
NEW MOVIES TO STREAM
— The cautious father (Kumail Nanjiani) of a family of ducks is coaxed into flying south for the winter in “Migration” (steaming Friday on Peacock), the latest animation from Illumination, the maker of “Despicable Me” and “The Super Mario Bros. Movie.” Penned by “White Lotus” creator Mike White, “Migration” is another, albeit more kid-friendly examination of the pros and cons of an exotic vacation. In my review, I wrote that “Migration” “is vividly animated with warm cartoon tones that would do Daffy proud. But it never quite spreads its wings.” With Elizabeth Banks, Danny DeVito, Carol Kane, Awkwafina and Keegan-Michael Key.
— People tend to love or hate the films of Zack Snyder, the maker of brawny CGI extravaganzas like “Man of Steel,” “Justice League” and “Army of the Dead.” If you’re the former, the arrival of “Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver” (Friday on Netflix) is a date you’ve circled since the December debut of the first installment. Sofia Boutella and Djimon Hounsou lead the ensemble cast in Snyder’s “Star War” riff space opera.
– If some films are laden and overstuffed, how about those that pass like a brief encounter? A new series streaming on the Criterion Channel asks: How much can happen in a night? The series collects some of the best films that transpire entirely from dusk ‘til dawn. Evenings may pass in conversation (“My Dinner With Andre”) or bloodshed (“Night of the Living Dead”), but in all of them, the sun eventually arrives to break a nocturnal spell. Among the highlights: Elaine May’s “Mikey and Nicky,” Martin Scorsese’s “After Hours,” Jim Jarmusch’s “Night on Earth” and Agnes Varda’s “Cléo from 5 to 7.”
— AP Film Writer Jake Coyle
NEW MUSIC TO STREAM
— It is Taylor Swift ’s world, and we continue to just live in it. On Friday, the savior of both contemporary pop music and the U.S. economy will release her highly anticipated 11th studio album, “The Tortured Poets Department.” Swift surprise-announced the release in February at the 2024 Grammys after receiving the trophy for best pop vocal album for her tenth LP, “Midnights.” The day after the Grammys, Swift shared the track list, teasing 16 songs and two features: “Fortnight,” featuring Post Malone — who is fresh off a feature on Beyoncé's “Act ll: Cowboy Carter” — and “Florida!!!” featuring Florence + the Machine. At a show in Melbourne, Australia, Swift described the album as “a lifeline,” adding “I’ve never had an album where I needed songwriting more than I needed it on ‘Tortured Poets.’”
— Three decades into their career, and Pearl Jam’s 12th studio album, “Dark Matter,” arrives the same day as Swift’s — but don’t consider it competition; they’re keeping it in the family. Both acts are signed to Republic Records. Produced by Andrew Watt , “Dark Matter” is Pearl Jam’s first new record since 2020’s “Gigaton,” – a hard-rocking collection of songs from the saints of the 1990s Seattle scene that AP’s Andrew Dalton described as “athletic in its speed, aggression, and tenacity, sounding like it would make men of their age sore in the aftermath.” Listen responsibly.
— AP Music Writer Maria Sherman
NEW SHOWS TO STREAM
— Fresh off her Oscar nomination, Lily Gladstone stars in a new limited series for Hulu called “Under the Bridge” with Riley Keough. Based on a true-crime novel by Rebecca Godfrey, “Under the Bridge” tells the story of the murder of Canadian teen Reena Virk in the late 1990s. Gladstone plays a police officer investigating the case and Keough plays Godfrey, who immersed herself in Virk’s world to detail not only what happened, but the social and cultural implications surrounding her death. “Under the Bridge” premiered Wednesday on Hulu and is already garnering Emmy buzz for both Gladstone and Keough.
— Conan O’Brien loves to be the brunt of a joke and that’s on full display in his new travel show “Conan O’Brien Must Go” for Max. Cameras follow the comedian as he visits countries like Ireland, Thailand, Argentina and Norway. When the series was announced last May, Max released the following quote from O’Brien, “My fans around the globe never asked me to visit them, so I did.” “Conan O’Brien Must Go” debuted Thursday on Max.
— “Bridgerton” star Nicola Coughlan leaves the Regency era and steps into the present starring in the British comedy “Big Mood” for Tubi. Coughlan plays Maggie, a young playwright with bipolar disorder who has decided to go off her meds to tap into her creativity. Maggie relies on her loyal best friend Eddie (Lydia West) to get her through her daily struggles, but their friendship is tested as Maggie’s mental health deteriorates. “Big Mood” premieres Fridayon Tubi.
— The popular fantasy children’s book series “The Spiderwick Chronicles” has been adapted for TV. The story follows teenage twins Simon and Jared and their older sister Mallory after they move to an old, family estate called Spiderwick, which is also inhabited by magical creatures. The show also stars Christian Slater, Joy Bryant and Jack Dylan Grazer. “The Spiderwick Chronicles” premieres on Roku Channel on Friday.
— National Geographic’s popular “Secrets Of” franchise has a new installment called “Secrets of the Octopus.” Debuting Sunday, the three-part series details the surprising characteristics of octopuses. These marine animals may look funny, but they have a level of intelligence where they solve problems, scheme and even communicate with other species. Narrated by Paul Rudd and executive produced by James Cameron, the docuseries is inspired by the book and research of Sy Montgomery.
— Alicia Rancilio
NEW VIDEO GAMES TO PLAY
— The second thing you’ll notice about Harold Halibut — after its goofy title — is its distinctive graphics. German indie studio Slow Bros. has built an entire game around hand-crafted models, and the result looks like stop-motion animation. The setting is a city-sized spaceship, the Fedora, that fled Earth 250 years earlier but unfortunately landed at the bottom of an alien ocean. Harold himself is the awkward young assistant to the ship’s chief scientist, who’s trying to figure out how to get it back into space. Will Harold help with that relaunch — or will he find himself drawn into the mystery of this strange planet? Dive on PlayStation 5, Xbox X/S and PC.
