Engine [ edit | edit source ]

The engine was a air cooled two cylinder boxer, four-stroke. A 78.0mm bore x 78.0mm stroke result in a displacement of just 749.0 cubic centimeters. The engine featured a 8.6:1 compression ratio . Fuel was supplied via a overhead valves (ohv).

Drive [ edit | edit source ]

The bike has a 4-speed transmission. The final drive was via shaft drive (cardan). Power was moderated via the dry, dual disk.

Chassis [ edit | edit source ]

It came with a 4.00-19 front tire and a 4.00-19 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via single disc. bremo, floating disk in the front and a single disc. single disc on sidecar in the rear. The front suspension was a leading link forks with hydraulic spring shock absorbers - 5 x adjustable while the rear was equiped with a double sided swinging arm with hydraulic spring shock absorbers - 5 x adjustable. The Tourist was fitted with a 5.02 Gallon (19.00 Liters) fuel tank. The bike weighed just 705.48 pounds (320.0 Kg).

2000 Ural Tourist. It has 3186 km which translates to 1980 Miles. I have owned this bike for 6 years and have never had a problem. It is a 650cc motorcycle with a mechanical reverse. The sidecar has a trunk which includes all of the original Ural issued tools including the tire pump. I also installed a seatbelt for when my son was younger so he wouldn't bounce out of the sidecar. Parts are very easy to get. I will include extra oil filters and what ever manuals I have for the bike. There are a couple of small scratches and a tiny dent in the sidecar. This is a cool around town bike that is a blast to drive and gets a ton of attention where ever you go. My beautiful 0ne of a kind Croznyi (Russian for red) is for sale. She started out as a 2000 Knight Sentry. out of Florida. She was a 650 cc then., I had her power train (motor transmission and rear end) changed in 2004 to a 750cc.by Gene at Holepaw in Florida. I also had the custom red paint job done at the same time. Although I got a good motor the power was not enough for the hills etc.I wanted enough power to cruise at 70 and not worry about the hills. I started adding all the chrome I could at this stage. I also found a 50's fairing that came off a BMW that was on ebay (it fit right on). I was lucky as I have not seen one since. Still not satisfied ;I contacted RICHARD WINTER one of the few (and probably the best) to do a BMW engine conversion. I bought a 1978 1000cc with less than 40 thousand miles on it. Then I took every thing to NC and Richard went to work. He had some great ideas as well so they went into the makeover of Croznyi. I took her to Europe and she was the star there with all the other side cars I met. If you notice her license plate is European and goes with her to the new lucky owner. There is no way I can remember all the things that were done to Croznyi in the time that Richard and I worked on her (over a year) Here is what I do remember. 1. Front forks drilled to make drainage holes with bolts so you do not have to take the forks apart to change the oil. 2.Modify the front brake with a Triumph Teflon cable and BMW parts. You can lock up the front wheel since this was done. 3. Add running lights with a separate switch. 4. Recessed the speedometer into the headlight (I think it looks a lot better) and also put LED lights in the it and the dash. 5. Installed warning beeper when the turn signals are used. 6. Installed a 12 volt receptacle and changed the whole electrical system to spade fuses. 7. Replaced the original light switch so now you can turn your headlight off or on etc. 8. Put on handle bar set backs and modified the turn tensioner in the triple tree. 9. Added waterproof speakers and amplifier for music etc. 10. Modify and put on Russian Wolfe gas tank (it not only looks better but holds more gas) 11. Modify and put on HD air seat !! 12. Add triumph turn signals and dual Italian horns. 13. Change all turn and stop signals to chrome. 14. Change the engine to a 1000cc 65 HP BMW !! Then modify the tranny to mate with the BMW and fabricate a custom air intake for the BMW engine. 15. Change the BMW alternator to updated 450 watts (this alone cost more than 500 dollars not counting the installation). 16. Modify the rear drive with four bolts instead of two to handle the extra power. 17. Put on a new brighter headlight. 18. Put on a chrome lockable handle for the side car trunk 19. carpet the complete side car. 20. undercoat the fenders and the bottom of the tub 21. add extra fasteners to the side car so it cannot flip forward in an accident. (check to see if the new ones have it!) 22.illuminated oil pressure gage (Do the new ones have it?) 23.Reverse hand shifter 24. BMW mufflers. 25. Custom basket and extra fuel container for touring with a lockable cable to the bike. 26. Croznyi has a new expensive gel battery!! My last one lasted 6 years. I am sure there is more but you get the picture. This is a special Ural that has had a lot of time and money invested to make her as she is. Some one needs to enjoy all of this and show her off. I am 83 now and not doing this anymore. I could go on with more but by now you must realize this is not your average Ural! In fact I don't know of another one quite like it in the country. So if you are looking for a beautiful custom Ural that will OUT RUN A NEW ONE: Here it is! I will need a transfer paypal of 500.00 or a money order within 48 hours once sold. I will not ship but will help. Note: the mileage listed is what I have put on since the conversion. This is a 1995 Ural Solo also known as a Ural Soloist. It’s an early model USA export solo model, kick start only, 650cc, CDI electronic ignition, telescopic forks. Before that, they were either imported gray-market through Canada as Ural-Cossack or thru the UK with the Dnepr model via Neval Motorcycles. The USA sanctioned the USSR after Soviet invasion of Afghanistan so Russian bikes could not be brought in from the USSR but some were brought in from England as Nevals in the early 80s or late 70s complete with troublesome British SU carburetors. The Nevals were said to be assembled in the UK to get around US import laws! Right. Back then I edited a grass-roots newsletter called the Hammer & Cycle. Our club was the Red Menace Motorcycle Register. This was for folks that had bikes built in the Communist block. I posted a copy of our last newsletter on archive.org. For a while, I even had a small parts outlet, ie. parts left over from Red Star Cycle Supply in Oklahoma. Those parts eventually went to Saskatchewan. I have nothing left but a few pieces of communist advertising literature , most of it unrelated to this particular bike, i.e. for Junak, Pannonia, WSK, etc., but all of which will go with this bike. O.K. so you get a small collection of Communist motorcycle sales literature with your vintage Russian bike. Today, you have a fully authorized Ural distributer, many Internet resources and the North American Russian Motorcycle Association club. Times are better! The community is much larger today! This is not one of those old gray market bikes but one directly brought in by Bob Gerend of Ural America in the beginning of sanctioned Urals in the USA. You know, the Berlin wall came down and Russia became free (at least for a while before Putin), investment came in, etc. This bike has a full US EPA sticker and 17 digit VIN. I interviewed Bob for my newsletter as these were first imported. I met him at the bike Expo in NYC. These Urals were built with better chrome, better finish, telescopic forks, front drum brakes, Mikuni style carburetors, CDI electronic ignition and were very much improved that the old USSR version. I believe what Bob said, as the chrome and paint on this bike are still very good after almost 20 years. (See pics) This bike rides like a BMW or Guzzi from the late 60s or early 70s.lt has a claimed top speed of near 80 mph but I've never flogged it. It starts fine, one or two kicks. It runs great and still looks like new. A true solo differs from the sidecar model in that it has upswept mufflers, no reverse, a taller gear ratio and no sidecar lug. There is a blanking piece where the sidecar lug could go, so I believe a sidecar could be added, but there is no reverse. The hand lever on the right side of the transmission is akin to a jockey shift, you can rock it through the gears by hand or easily find neutral. There are probably some other differences likely in the rake and trail, and I don't know about the newest Solos. IMZ-ural.com does not list the Solo for 2014 but it was listed for 2013, so it's kind of a rare bike. I've read they sell less than 20 per year and mostly now on special order! The Ural Solo’s 15 minutes of fame came in the second edition of Ghost Rider, Spirit of Vengeance. Monreau gets his tires shot out on a Ural. He goes off a cliff but still manages to shoot the bad guy as he falls. Classic! This Ural will definitely put a smile on your face and get lots of waves from passers-by. It looks great. Unlike the Ural solo recently offered for sale here on eBay, this one is wholly complete with both side covers and it has not been repainted. The paint is original. All chrome is good. The bike originally came from Mike’s Cycle in Waynesboro, Tennessee and I bought it in Florida, so I am not the original owner. Title is clear and in my name. It has only 11,555 kilometers or 7,180 miles. The speedometer shows both miles and kilometers per mile but the odometer reads in kilometers, so that's 7180 miles. I’m selling it because I have too many bikes. I tend to collect them. This is one of my fun bikes which is not too historically significant, so it goes on eBay to make room.
