Trekking Season in Nepal

Nepal is the best destination for the tourism activities throughout the year, however; there are four distinct trekking seasons in Nepal. Each season has its distinctive attractions to offer. The seasons can be classified as follows:

Autumn is the best time to experience the trekking in the Himalayas, which offers an excellent weather and exhilarating mountain views and one can experience the the festival and culture of Nepal as the biggest festival of Nepal fall in this season, such as Dashain and Tihar (Deewali) which occur in October and November.

Winter season is noted for occasional snowfall only at higher elevations. Hence it is ideal for trekking at lower elevation, generally below 3000 meters and it is good time for the having adventure activities such as mountain bike, Bungee Jumping, cycling tour, paragliding, river adventure and jungle Safari.

Different varieties of wild flowers, most exceptionally the rhododendrons, make the hillside above 3000 meters a haunting paradise during this season. It is mildly warm at lower elevations, and at higher elevations over 4000 meters, the mountain views are excellent and temperature is quite moderate. This season is the best time to have the mountain expedition, peak climbing, trekking and hiking in Nepal.

Summer season which represent the monsoon season in Nepal, as it rains almost every day during this season. So this season can be the best time for river adventure as the level of river in Nepal become higher. You also can have Agro tour as Nepalese farmer farm in their land in this period. This season also would be the best for those who are keen to know about the vegetation as a botanist as the higher valleys and meadows blossom with flowers and lush vegetation.

Gateway to the Wild Atlantic Way

The best way to appreciate the magnificence of the Old Head of Kinsale is from the air. On your Gateway to the Wild Atlantic Way Air Experience flight, you will have the best view of this narrow headland bordered by steep cliffs and a lighthouse which is located on its most southerly point. This is a truly unique chance to get a birds-eye view of the world-famous Old Head Golf Links. Your flight will take you over the harbour town of Kinsale, the start/end point of the Wild Atlantic Way, Courtmacsherry a small village surrounded by several beautiful beaches, and fly over Clonakilty, Bandon taking in the best views of the world famous Inchydoney beach.

Cork Harbour & Islands:

Cork Harbour, the second largest natural harbour in the world, an international gateway for trade, a site of strategic military importance for centuries, supporting industry and recreational activities is our destination for this flight. You will have the best vista from the air to take in the harbour steeped in history and its many islands including Great Island, Fota Island, Little Island, Haulbowline island, Spike Island and Rocky Island. The architecture of Cobh Cathedral, Ireland’s largest church and many of the visiting cruise liners can truly be appreciated from the air. Fly over the star shaped Fort Mitchell on Spike Island along with the impressive Camden Fort Meagher and Fort Davis Carlisle both built to defend Cork Harbour, and onwards to Roches point lighthouse at the entrance to Cork harbour. You may also have the opportunity to see Blarney Castle from above, home of the Stone of Eloquence, better known as the Blarney Stone and view the extensive gardens before returning to our base.

Lee Valley Tour

The world-renowned Lee Valley is one of the most beautiful landscapes that Ireland has to offer. Our destination is the source of the River Lee in the Shehy mountains. In this wild and beautiful scenery of Gougane Barra, the Lee flows from the lake of Gougane Barra and St. Finbarr the patron saint of Cork first founded his early Christian monastery in the 6th century. The legend says that he left to walk the river valley, at the mouth of which he established a monastery, which is now the site of St Finbarr’s Cathedral in Cork City. This route is steeped in Cork history and you will pass over Béal na Bláth, the site of the ambush and death of the Irish revolutionary leader Michael Collins in 1922. You will track the river Lee as it meanders into the Inniscarra Lake, a man-made reservoir formed in the 1950s and on to Macroom and the Gearagh,a submerged glacial woodland and nature reserve, where the river Lee descends from the mountains. Time permitting you may fly over Cork city, where the Lee splits in two for a short distance, creating an island on which Cork’s city centre is built before it empties into the Celtic Sea.

Fastnet Lighthouse

Truly appreciate the rugged beauty of the West Cork coastline with a birds eye view of on our Wild Atlantic Way flight from Kinsale Lighthouse to Baltimore, once famed as a pirate base in the 1600s, now more synonymous for its sailing, fishing and culinary delights. Travel in our Diamond DA42 Twin Star one of the most advanced light aircraft in the world to Ireland’s most southerly point Fastnet rock, where the tallest and widest rock lighthouse ever constructed in Ireland and the UK is located.
