Review of B-Bakery Afternoon Tea Bus Tour in London

Pin for B Bakery Afternoon Tea Bus Tour

Having afternoon tea in London is always something I’ve wanted to check off my list! After loads of research, I was so excited to try the afternoon tea bus tour offered by Brigit’s Bakery. Not only did we get to have afternoon tea but also ride on a vintage double-decker bus all around London. Such a fun and exciting way to spend our first afternoon in the city!

Booking Process & Cost

Booking online is super easy.

The process was easy and straightforward. Bookings are quickly completed online through the  company’s website.  During the booking process, you can select which table you’ll be sitting, which menu you require, or if you’d like any of their available add-ons such as champagne or a souvenir.

The traditional afternoon tea bus tour starts at £45 per person plus any additional items you decide to add on. We added on a half bottle of champagne for £28 extra.

Time to get on the Bus!

What a gorgeous vintage double-decker bus.

We chose Victoria Coach Station as our departure point. When you first arrive, check the screens by the main doors to see which gate the bus will depart. The bakery asks that you arrive twenty minutes before your scheduled departure time.

After a long day of travelling, we were excited to get going on the bus. But we ran into a bit of a speed bump when we didn’t board the bus for almost thirty minutes later than our scheduled departure time. We sat waiting for nearly forty-five minutes at the bus station waiting. And if you’ve ever been to Victoria Coach Station, I’m sure you’ll agree it’s not exactly somewhere you’d like to hang out. I was a bit annoyed.

Table with tea tray on B Bakery afternoon tea bus tour

Once we got on the bus, my mood quickly lifted. I was so pleased with everything I saw. The decor is so cute. I loved the retro look! The tables were set, and the food looked delicious! The tea tray was filled with tasty looking sandwiches, muffins, desserts and pastries all ready for us to dig in.

The Afternoon Tea Bus Tour Starts!

Here we go.

During the afternoon tea bus tour, you’ll cruise by some of the most famous tourist sites in London, such as the London Eye, Buckingham Palace, St.James Park, Harrods, and Westminster Abbey to name a few.

Bus Tour Route from B Bakery guidebook.

But if getting a tour of London is your main reason for booking this bus tour you may be disappointed. With the general ambient noise from the other guests chatting and eating plus the sounds of the bus and surrounding traffic, it was pretty hard to hear the tour all the time. If you are looking for an informative tour of London, I would not recommend the tea bus for this reason.

Once you’re whizzing through the crazy London traffic. Bouncing and bumping around on the bus, with the din of the other passengers. Plus, all the yummy food in front of you, the tour becomes the last thing on your mind

And you still do get to see some of the sights. For first-timers to London, the general splendour and craziness of the city are fascinating!

Food & Drinks

Tea Tray on B Bakery Afternoon Tea Bus Tour

Once the bus tour has started on its way, the staff stops by each table and takes your drink order. You can choose from a long list of teas, or if you’re not a tea drinker, they have coffee, cappuccino, lattes, hot chocolate and water. One of my favourite things was the spill-proof cup that they gave us our hot drink in (which we got to take home!).

Alcoholic drinks are available but must be pre-purchased when you complete your booking. They are unable to sell any alcohol during the bus tour, so if this is something you’d like, make sure to add it to your cart during your initial booking. We purchased a half bottle of champagne to drink during the trip. It was the perfect amount for us for the time available after we had our cup of tea.

Champagne on B Bakery afternoon tea bus tour

There were two staff members on board with us plus the bus driver. They were super friendly and accommodating. They were happy to provide us with tips and advice for travelling in London as well as just a friendly chat.

There are so many  different afternoon teas  available in London, so once we narrowed it down, it was pretty easy to choose this company on its uniqueness alone. The idea of having a tour of London while having tea sounded like a lot of fun! And it was!

  • The food was delicious, especially the desserts!
  • The staff was friendly and helpful.
  • The rush of the city passing by created a fun backdrop to our first British afternoon tea experience.

Our bus tour left Victoria Station and toured around the city for about an hour and a half, and we enjoyed every minute of it! I would do it again for sure and recommend it to anyone travelling to London!

Review of B Bakery London Afternoon Tea Bus Tour

Even after exploring London on a few visits one thing I hadn’t checked off my England bucket list was enjoying afternoon tea. When Rick and I went in June 2018, that was the one thing I wanted to make sure we slotted some time for. This was Rick’s first visit to London so I wanted to make sure he saw all the sights and so when I found a sightseeing tour of London that was combined with a delicious afternoon tea, it was the perfect activity to add to our itinerary.

B Bakery has a physical location, but I was drawn by their variety of themed tea tours, both on a bus or on a Thames cruise! We opted for an afternoon tea tour on their outfitted double decker bus and had a great time. Below is our review of the afternoon tea bus tour with B Bakery.

London Tour

The afternoon tea bus tour is about an hour and half – can be longer if traffic is a bit congested. The seats are comfy and when you’re stuck at a traffic light you’re easily distracted by all the goodies and hot tea in front of you. They have commentary on the bus to describe what you’re seeing but the commentary could be hard to hear at times but was still useful when you picked it up.

Some of the icons you see on this London sightseeing tour:

  • Buckingham Palace
  • Royal Albert Hall
  • Trafalgar Square

Customer service & booking

The online booking process was easy and you pick out your menu, seats, and purchase any add-ons at the time of your booking.

The tour started right on time and the staff was nice. The food was already waiting at your table and then they come around ask what type of tea you want to drink during your tour. Our server asked if we wanted our prosecco first or at the end of the tour and we had it at the beginning. She asked if we were celebrating anything and it was a few days before my birthday, which I told her, and then she served me an extra chocolate cupcake later on the tour, which was a fun surprise!

Food & drink

We booked the traditional tea menu which had a variety of savory sandwiches and sweet treats. Some of the finger sandwiches included a cucumber and mint sandwich, watercress and egg on a pretzel bun, and a ham and cheese with mayo and mustard. There was also a mini quiche and smoked salmon blini. The sandwiches were tasty and flavorful and the serving size was just right for the tour’s duration.

We knew the desserts were going to be amazing (it is hosted by a bakery after all), but the mouthwatering cakes and tarts included a mini chocolate cupcake, a passionfruit, mango, and coconut tart, and a vanilla cream pastry. They also come through during the ride to serve a hot scone with clotted cream and jam. They met our expectations for the desserts as they were delicious and we could have easily eaten another six chocolate cupcakes or those mango tarts.

For teas, they offer a variety of leaves from Betjaman & Barton: Earl Grey, English Breakfast, darjeeling, green, jasmine, rooibos jardin rouge, and peppermint. If tea isn’t your cup of tea, they also serve water, coffees, and hot chocolate. They serve your tea in a to-go souvenir mug, so no worrying about spilling your hot drink on the bus.

We booked their traditional menu but I also appreciated the variety of menus they offer, including nut-free, dairy and gluten-free, vegan, vegan and gluten-free, and a Celiacs-friendly menu.

The starting price for this bus tour of London is £45, though we did spend a bit more as we added a glass of prosecco each and bought dedicated seating at the front of the bus on the top deck – totally worth it, but only works for couples. I thought the price for the tour and all the yummy goodies was appropriate.

Overall, the experience of having tea on the go was really fun and let us kill two birds with one stone when we had limited time in the city. I’d recommend it if you’re looking for afternoon tea in London with a twist!

B Bakery Bus Tour: The Best Afternoon Tea Tour in London

B Bakery bus tour - Best afternoon tea tour London - Inside Bus

All aboard! Hold onto your glass. It’s the Brigit’s Bakery Afternoon Tea bus tour. Enjoy London’s iconic sites from the comfort of a beautifully restored 1960s vintage double decker bus with a glass of Prosecco in hand and scrumptious scones in the belly. Nom nom!

Whether you live in London like me, are visiting for the first or umpteenth time, joining a B Bakery Afternoon Tea Bus London Tour is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon with friends or family.

The Brigit’s Bakery specialises in Afternoon Tea. But they take things a step further so you can actually pick where you want it. Choose from dining in their luxury bakery in Covent Garden, cruising along the thames on a B Boat Tour or hopping aboard a B Afternoon Tea Bus London Tour –  like I did.

But that’s not all.

Brigit’s Bakery also provide themed Afternoon Tea tours, from Gin to Halloween. With Christmas around the corner, I was invited to join their Christmassy Afternoon Tea.

Here’s everything you need to know about Brigit’s Bakery Afternoon Tea bus tour.

What to expect on a Brigit’s Bakery Afternoon Tea bus tour?

On the day of the tour, head to the Victoria Coach Station where the tour departs. I recommend you aim to arrive roughly 20-30 minutes before departure as to allow plenty of time to get your name checked off the list and settle into your seat.

When you board the bus, you’ll be led to your table which you chose at the time of booking. Seating is available upstairs or downstairs so book early if you know you want to sit up the top.  All tables are already arranged and beautifully dressed and on each seat you’ll find your own tote bag of goodies. No spoilers!

Shortly after everyone is seated, the tour leader will give a welcome message while the servers come around to fill up your glass with Prosecco.

It’s time to depart. Off we go!

For the next hour and a half you’ll drive through the heart of London passing by iconic landmarks and historical buildings with soft background music. As you approach each attraction, the music is briefly interrupted with an audio commentary.

Keep an eye out the window to see Big Ben, The Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, St James’s Park, Hyde Park, The Royal Albert Hall, Marble Arch, Nelson’s Column, and Downing Street just to mention a few.

For Christmas Afternoon Tea I was on, the B Bus Tour followed a unique route along Regent’s Street so we could see the beautiful Christmas Lights.

Throughout the tour, our glasses were constantly topped up without us needing to ask. Roughly half-way through the tour, after most of us had finished eating the savoury food, the servers came around with warm scones with clotted cream and took our tea orders.

B Bakery bus tour - Best afternoon tea tour London - Scones with jam and clotted cream

By the end of the tour I was feeling a little tipsy, but very content.  We were each given a little fold up cardboard box to take any left over cakes and sandwiches home.

Once back at Victoria Coach station, anyone who hadn’t ordered tea on board were each gifted a lovely Brigits Bakery themed travel mug to take home. I received mine earlier with my order for a Lemon and Ginger tea. With a few more snaps outside of the bus, the B Afternoon Tea Bus was sadly over.

Who is the B Afternoon Tea Bus London Tour for?

Unfortunately, their tours aren’t suitable for accessible patrons and children under 5 are not allowed on board.

Do I recommend joining a B Bus Tour?

Essential tour tips

  • Let them know your dietary requirements – Are you vegan,  follow a gluten free or Halal diet? No problem. Just let the servers know and they’ll provide you with diet friendly sandwiches.
  • Hold onto your glass – I wasn’t kidding when I said to hold onto your glass. The ride can be bumpy at times and the London traffic can be unpredictable with sudden stops so hold onto your class of bubbly to avoid and sudden accidents.
  • Got to the toilet before you board – There are no toilet facilities on board so make sure you use the restrooms either at Victoria Station (these are free) or at Victoria Coach Station (costs 30p) before departing.
  • There’s not a lot of wiggle room – Remember, this is a vintage bus so it’s going to be quite cosy inside. There’s not a lot of space either, so leave any bulky items and shopping bags at home. There is space under your seat but just enough for a handbag or small rucksack.
  • Allow plenty of time to arrive – If you’re not familiar with the Victoria area, be sure to allow an extra 5-7 minutes to walk to the Victoria Coach Station which is completely separate from Victoria Train Station.
  • Flexible departure times – The B Bakery Afternoon Tea Bus London Tour has multiple departure times. For example, there are five daily departures for the Christmas Afternoon Tea Tour at 12:00, 12:30, 14:30, 15:00, 17:00 & 17:30. The tours at 17:00 & 17:30 are the ones that will take your along Regent’s Street to see the Christmas lights.
  • Limited seating –  There might be plenty of departure times but each bus can only dine up to 28 guests. So if you want a spot on the top deck, book early to avoid disappointment .

This experience came highly recommended and was something I wanted to do the other times I've been in London, but only now finally got around to doing, which was fortuitous since I had my 17-year-old daughter with me. We absolutely loved the whole thing. It was the perfect way to kick off our Eight days in London. I am an afternoon tea fanatic, and I love traveling so combining both things in one experience is perfect. The food was excellent and I loved the route that we took through London which gave my daughter a general idea of the layout in the area. Also, I have to give a huge shout out to the three people who took such outstanding care of us! Thank you, Svet, Anna, and Maria for making the experience even more wonderful with your care, knowledge, and friendliness!

So fun! You get to see all the popular spots while enjoying a scrumptious tea in an old school double decker bus. No air so beware. Our tour guide and waitress were adorable and so knowledgeable. Treats were delicious and got a souvenir coffee cup. Loved it

This experience was wonderful, for a one-time thing. You're on a beautiful double-decker, getting a tour of London's main sites while noming on some small bites & drinking tea (or other beverages). Overall, it was a nice way to spend a couple hours & you cant take pretty bomb pictures, but I don't think I would do it again. You can easily book your package online for your food & drink options (they have a lot) and also choose your seat (which floor, which booth specifically). Your drinks comes in one of those plastic cups (with a cap) & you get to keep it a the end of the tour. The staff on the bus were all super nice & very attentive. However, unfortunately, the bites were just okay. Not bad, but not impressive. It's a lot though! You'll definitely be full, & if you don't finish it, they can give you a box to take out. Moreover, it was kind of hard to hear the person announcing all the sites - more of a visual tour than anything.

My brother and his wife did this tour last year and kept raving about it, so of course I had to check it out for myself. We made sure to book well in advance to get a great seat on the upper level and at the very front. Wow, what a spectacular view! Despite the rain, we loved seeing all the sights from a vintage double-decker, and the tea and snacks were scrumptious. I made sure not to have breakfast before the tour (and I typically eat quite a bit), but at the end of the tour I was stuffed! The bus was well-maintained, the interior was clean and inviting, and our tourguides Coralie and Sarah were fantastic! Very knowledgeable and professional in every way. I would highly, highly recommend this amazing experience to everyone. You get to kill several birds with one stone: double-decker busride, guided tour of London's landmarks, afternoon high tea. Next time we're in London, we'll definitely check out other tours that the company offers.

bb bakery bus afternoon tea tour review

My family and I took the tea bus tour last month and overall...it was just okay. Service: The service is great, and everyone is very friendly. Ambiance: The bus itself is nicely decorated and is clean, but it was also FREEZING COLD. When I inquired about the heater I was told it was on as high as possible. Tour: Was just okay. It was difficult to hear some of the recording, and the information I did hear wasn't anything too fascinating. Food: The food is unimpressive at best. The tea is very heavy on the sugary aspects and light on the savory ones, so don't assume you can forgo lunch for this! Also, the quantity was lacking, especially for the price. And finally, while the tea selection was good, I was very disappointed to see they were making me instant coffee. For the price I definitely expected more than a packet of Nescafe (sp?). Overall: There are far more enjoyable, and affordable places to have a better afternoon tea. Save yourself the $$ and book a tea and then get on a Hop On Hop Off Bus Tour.

Dear Ameena, Firstly I would like to thank you for your message. Your comments are extremely important as they provide a motive for continuous improvement. We have taken note of your comments regarding our heater on board, after investigation it appeared that it was a misconnection between the panel control and the heating system. We do not advertise our tours as guided, the voiceover is experimental so we thank you for your feedback as it will help to improve the quality of our audio guide. Regarding the high tea, our menu is available online, we happily add extra sandwiches or anything else to your taste upon booking as we do not cook or bake on the bus. Thank you again for your feedback, we are delighted to read you enjoyed the service. Best regards, B Team

Save your money . In a nutshell because I don't review a lot . stifling hot bus - no AC , LOUD , saw zero major landmarks , it simply is not their route . We saw an apartment building where some employees lived . Food horrid . Also , we had one daughter Sick ( with urgent care ) note in hand and simply said , too bad , can't refund , can't change date , can't get credit " because we made the food already " - a roll with cream cheese . Sooooooo many other activities in London .

What a great way to tool around London and have high tea at the same time. Recommended to sit up top of the double-decker for best views. Was a gray misty day so we really enjoyed getting to see the sights and having a pretty authentic high tea experience. One can order glasses of bubbly if you desire otherwise tea and hot chocolate are replenished as often as one likes. The pastries were delicious. If I were to recommend a perfect group to do this with, it would be familes(children from about 8 up). The family sitting next to me was delighted, the kids at one table, parents at the other. All having a great time. A shout out to Misha, the guide, he was so accommodating and personable. Loved it, a bit touristy, but hey, that's what I am.

Pricey, but a nice way to tour the city. Tea and desserts were also lovely. Paying extra for an upper front seat is worth it for the better view. Book early!

This was amazing. Really something for everyone. Afternoon tea and tons of good food. Prosecco. History and sightseeing. A vintage Routemaster. The driver even let me look under the hood at the end. You even get a souvenir commuter mug.

SO FUN! My husband and I went on the BB Afternoon Tea Bus Tour on our recent trip to London and we had a blast! I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for something special, memorable and fun to do in London. I liked this bus 100% more than any hop on hop off bus tour I've ever taken, plus you get tea and snacks! Our tour guides were fantastic, attentive and personable. We got to see all the sights from seats on top of a double decker iconic red bus while we sipped on our tea! My only complaint is that they clearly advertise Gluten Free and Dairy Free as options, but it's NOT Celiac friendly. That being said, they credited us for the price of food and told me to bring my own snacks to eat on board, which worked out fine in the end... it sucked to see all those cute pastries and goodies and not be able to eat any but I still had a blast.

BB Bakery Afternoon Tea Bus Tour of London – Worth the Price?

Our last evening in London we took this unusual city tour – afternoon tea on a bus!

BB Bakery Afternoon Tea Bus Tour

The food was very yummy – five tea sandwiches and a tier of cakes for us both. They are served already before the tour departs, and the plates are suction cupped to the table in case the bus has sudden stops and starts.

bb bakery bus afternoon tea tour review

About 15 minutes into the tour a waitress came around and served us tea in these cute mugs – not the fancy china you’d get at the Ritz but a lot safer when you have boiling tea sloshing around on a moving bus! We even got to keep the mugs after the tour (this is only true for the last tour of each day, which luckily we were!).

bb bakery bus afternoon tea tour review

We munched away and watched the sites of London turn on their lights. It was not quite Christmas season yet, but Harrods was as festive as ever and was already completely decked out in lights! Driving by its twinkling lights and huge, iconic “Harrod’s” sign was one of my favorite parts of the tour.

bb bakery bus afternoon tea tour review

My companion was a bit less interested…

Finally, I’ll also say that I was disappointed with the service. Even though I’d registered gluten free days before, they didn’t have enough GF scones left by the end of the day. So when every other passenger on the bus got served scones, cream, and jam, me and the other GF passengers just had to sit there. And we didn’t get a discount, an extra tea cake, or even an apology. Which in my opinion is pretty poor from a company that charges as much money as BB Bakery  did to start with.

Overall, a quirky and cute experience that I would recommend for any London tourists, although take it with a grain of salt!

That is so disappointing! I saw the title and got all excited, but I think I would prefer a proper tea with nice service and china…that’s all part of the afternoon tea experience, right?

I know it is, isn’t it! It was a really cool experience but the lack of a tour guide (and lack of SCONES!) really put a damper on it.

This makes me rather sad – both as a GF blogger and London wanderer!

I know 🙁 I still want to check out their restaurant in covent garden though, as the GF cakes that they DID have were quite good!

Oh wow, I did this during the daytime but your night photos are amazing! I’ve just shared my post on the vintage bus afternoon tea tour , I’d love to know your thoughts!

Just checked out your post – looks like you had a better time than I did, haha!

Headed over to this post from your most recent gluten-free afternoon tea post … I’ve always been curious about this tour but that’s pretty bad about the lack of scones for you, and no apology/discount either! Makes me think twice about booking, just out of principle …

So while planning our trip to London we decided to do the BB Bakery Afternoon Tea Bus Tour as we through it would be a good way to see a bit more of the city, give the feet a rest and enjoy some food. We were picked up at 1200 on the dot at the new pickup point of Victoria Coach Station. On being seated at our table by the friendly staff we were faced with an array of interesting (and very yummy looking) treats of cakes, finger sandwiches and savouries. As well as this there was a small bottle of orange juice and a fancy mug for the choice of tea (with many to choose from), coffee including latte and cappuccino or even hot chocolate. Once we had left the station and were on our way our drinks orders were taken and it was time to sample the treats. The tour itself takes in a number of sites around London lasting between 1 1/2 and 2 hours and our host was good at letting us all know where we were and what we were looking at. It is useful I think at this point to make a note that this is not a full guided tour with lots of facts and some guy stood with a mic talking. This is afternoon tea with some sightseeing in a relaxed environment with a humorous host telling you a few facts about London (which for me was spot on and a job well done!) Now for the important bit the food ... Simply Delicious!!! There were three different kind of sandwiches, two types of savouries, a small scone served with jam and clotted cream and 5 different sweet treats which were all scrumptious! For those who feel that they can not manage everything on the tour you get a small goody box to take away with you to have your fill later. However being from Yorkshire this was not required for me and I can say having cleaned the plate it was all delicious. Now for those who are not sure and looking thinking is this still a little bit expensive lets put it into prospective. Some of the other bus tours you can do around London can cost up to £26 and lunch in London can also get a little pricy depending where you go. You get to see the sights while drinking coffee/tea and eating sweet treats and on leaving the bus and thanking the staff I can truly say that it was well worth the money. (And from a Yorkshire lass, that's saying something)! Do It you will love it!

The place was lovely it was so sweet. The cakes were amazing and the tea was great, the orange juice was fresh as well as all the cream in the cakes. We had the cake platter with little sandwiches which was amazing really well presented and really filling. We also had the scones with cream and jam which wasn't even needed after the cake platter but it was still delicious! The room was quiet and away from the hussle. The inside was well decorated and had a fantastic theme all the way through.

bb bakery bus afternoon tea tour review

I booked this as a present for my friends birthday and it was really nice . We arrived on time and were seated , we were not kept waiting that long for the afternoon tea and there was a large selection of cakes and savoury options to choose from . I think the decoration is really cute and the bakery clean and comfortable . I think it's a bit expensive at £30 but when shopping around this seems to be the normal price in London . I would go again but possibly just to eat a normal cake and have tea as they look really nice as well . Probably not a place for young children as a few fragile decorations around and seemed like a more adult environment .

We went to BB for high tea for my daughter and her friends early 21 birthday celebration. The food was great with the sweet cakes and especially the macaroons just fantastic. They produced fresh scones after we'd demolished the rest of our tea, and offered to put them in a little box for us to enjoy at home once we were less full. Service was attentive. We had 3 refills of our tea, sampling different teas each time. It's a bit pricy at around £30 per head but well worth it. Would certainly recommend this to celebrate a special Occassion. Note booking is essential.

I booked this afternoon tea as a birthday treat. I wanted a tea that would be able to be taken after a theatre matinee and we booked for 6:00 p.m. It was a little crowded when we got there, but the rush was over by the time we were seated, so if you want more space, go later! Although it was busy it didn't detract from the service, and the afternoon tea is exceptional. Having had afternoon tea previously at The Ritz we thought it was on a par with theirs, and you didn't have to dress up! Others took their left over cakes away in little boxes, but I'm afraid to say we polished ours off with relish. Great selection of savouries and sweet treats, freshly made and beautifully served.... and a reasonable price for Covent Garden.

Case Study: The Beano Afternoon Tea Bus Tour – Summer 2023

Did you know that between the 10th of June and the 10th of September 2023, we ran a Beano Afternoon Tea Bus Tour to celebrate the 85th anniversary of Beano? The tour got fantastic coverage in the Evening Standard and some amazing reviews.

Want to find out more about it?

What is Beano?

Beano needs no introductions. You'd have to be living on the moon to not know about this British icon and national treasure! Created in 1938, Beano is the world's longest-running weekly comic and the original British icon of childhood. As something in between a picture and a chapter book, for many children, Beano represents an important reading stepping stone.

Launched in Dundee (Scotland), Beano is hands-down one of the most recognisable British brands. It's been entertaining the nation for decades and making childhood exciting for multiple generations of children. That's why our grandparents and parents love it, we love it, and our little ones do too!

With fantastic characters such as the iconic Dennis and Gnasher, Roger the Dodger, Minnie the Minx, and the Bash Street Kids, the comic encourages fun, silliness, imagination, mischief, and the odd bit of rebellion too! Aimed at 6-12-year-olds, Beano inspires children to go on crazy adventures, explore the world, make stuff, be original, and use creativity. And isn't that what childhood should be all about?

Let's face it - it's a guaranteed good laugh any day of the week! The physical slapstick is perfect for the youngest ones while the satire is what appeals to the young at heart. In a nutshell, Beano is fun! It teaches us that being a child never gets old. Plus, it encourages everyone to celebrate mischief and embrace the odd, strange, and bizarre. And we're all for it!

Beano fun facts!

Did you know?

  • In 2022 Beano received recognition for its still expanding diverse and inclusive cast by winning the Diversity and Inclusion Award at the PPA Awards 2022.
  • Dennis first appeared in 1951 wearing a shirt and tie! A shirt and tie!!! Can you imagine the sheer horror ? Thankfully, his clothes were soon replaced by the iconic red and black striped jumper we all know and love.
  • Many parents don’t realise that the Dennis of their youth is now the father of today’s even more mischievous Dennis! If that's even possible, right?
  • A Beano is sold every 5 seconds!!! It's the Number One comic in the UK with an average monthly readership of 659,000. Quite impressive, don't you think?

So who's your favourite Beano character?

The Beano Afternoon Tea Bus Tour in numbers

This exclusive, themed tour ran for a limited period of 12 weeks during the summer of 2023. with two tours a day for 5 days a week, we ran a total of 120 tours, entertained over 1,500 guests and covered a staggering 1,320 miles across the streets of london.

The tour was an adventure-filled experience bringing both fun and mischief. We had Beano Entertainers on each tour sharing facts about Beano and London landmarks and delivering fun quizzes and plenty of laughs. The entertainers amused their audience with kaboom Beano jokes and trick questions like… Would you rather eat Olive’s mystery stew with a plate of chips or a burger with a side of Gnasher’s food? Hard choice!

And you know what? In true Beano style, our lovely customers got pranked too! Perhaps chattering teeth and whoopee cushions may have been hidden on the bus. And if you sat down and heard fart noises, we wouldn't happen to know anything about it - honest!

The highlight for many was learning how to draw Dennis, Gnasher, and Minnie like a pro. As well as our exclusive "How to draw Dennis, Minnie, and Gnasher" guide, all our guests got to take home our Beano reusable mug, and a Beano comic.

The Beano Afternoon Tea Menu - a true slap-up feast!

To celebrate Beano's 85th birthday, our chefs created this super fun menu for our tours:

  • This Posh Fish is Smokin’ Smoked Salmon & Cream Cheese Pretzel Roll.
  • The Cheesy Coal as a Cucumber & Cream Cheese Finger on Charcoal Bread.
  • The THC Squishy Tomato's Turkey Ham & Cheese Finger on Tomato Bread.

We even have Minnie Morsels!

  • The Minnie Margherita Pizza Mischief.
  • The Minnie Excuse: Muffin to see here! Feta, Red Pepper & Tomato Savoury Muffin.

And for sweet treats, you can expect:

  • The Bangers & Mash-up Chocolate Cupcake.
  • Bananamania Custard Tart.
  • Dennis’s Red & Black Dunker Macaron.
  • The Gnash Tea Biscuit.
  • The Berry Naughty Jelly Baby.
  • The Billy Whizz (Scone fast!). Freshly baked, chocolate scone with clotted cream & jam.

As with all our tours, drink options included water, coffee, and a fantastic loose tea selection. In true Brigit's Bakery style, we had a range of menus to cater to all requirements and preferences with our Traditional, Vegan, Vegetarian, Halal, and Gluten-free menus.

What some of our customers had to say about the Beano Afternoon Tea Bus Tour

The truth is, our description of the Beano Afternoon Tea Bus tour really didn't do it justice. So let's hear it from those who were lucky enough to experience it.

Zara Merali said:

"What a truly fantastic day out in Central London! I rarely write reviews, but I simply had to express how brilliant this fun-filled family experience is. We all loved every single minute! The entire event was really well organised and we were so impressed with the impeccable attention to detail.
We were all warmly greeted by the fabulous entertainer JP, who was so fun and engaging. We excitedly boarded the bus and we were instantly struck by the incredibly colourful interior and exterior design. The Beano theming was brilliant. All our favourite characters were there and the graphics were wonderful. There were funny jokes on the ceiling, which we all loved, and there was such a party atmosphere on board.
The food was absolutely delicious. There was a fun Beano themed menu, which was really clever. The afternoon tea was beautifully presented and of an extremely high standard. The service was excellent and the staff were so warm and friendly.
The on board entertainment was hilarious. Lots of jokes and quizzes, which appealed to the whole family. Brigit's Bakery gave an outstanding service and we'll definitely book other themed bus experiences with them in the future! All in all, a wonderful and unforgettable family day out. [...] A unique and magical London experience."
We can feel the excitement and buzz from their words, can't you?

Sara wrote:

"We chose the Beano bus tour to celebrate my fathers 80th birthday whose name is Dennis. We were welcomed on board by Brian and Lu and shown to our tables. Wonderful afternoon tea selection and commentary with a few jokes included, which was fun. Brian and his team really made my father feel extra special on his 80th Birthday. Thank you."
That truly warmed our hearts. And we couldn't be more grateful to our customers for choosing Brigit's Bakery tours for all sorts of celebrations.

So, are you as excited as we are to see what fantastic tours might be coming up in the future?
