A welcome return following our sold-out concerts there in 2009 & 2011. This is a lovely little theatre. It is very quaint - like a cross between Leeds Varieties Theatre and a dolls house! In March 2016 we return to nearby Masham Town Hall .

This sold out show was a brilliant way to finish off the tour before our 30th Anniversary gig at Sage Gateshead. 400 enthusiastic people gave us a standing ovation. What is more they helped us raise GBP275 for Cancer Research UK.

The first unplugged gig by Mike Hall and Adam Howells was a terrific success, with a great response from the SOLD OUT Irvine audience. They return to Irvine in September 2019. Future Classic Clapton unplugged shows are planned eg Kinross in December 2019.

Music lover Tom Mccrorie posted this comment on Facebook:- Brilliant acoustic concert last night at The Harbour Arts Centre in Irvine.  Mike Hall not only looks like Eric Clapton but can play guitar like him. His sidekick on the gig was Adam Howells who was superb. All the old favourites from across Eric's albums. "After Midnight" is the acoustic duo from the full "Classic Clapton" tribute group and for my money, they sound more like Clapton.  Mike's voice is amazingly similar to Clapton's and seems to be getting better with age. Adam's backing vocals were perfect and he also fronted a couple of numbers himself.  Great show and I will definitely book up for the next one.

Mike Hall and Adam Howells undertook a short Tour of Scotland in April. Their show wa s based around Slowhand's multi-million selling album ''Eric Clapton / unplugged''. It included many of the best tracks from that album, including Tears in Heaven, Running on Faith, Alberta, Old Love and of course Layla.  The concert also featured new acoustic versions of other Clapton Classics such as Wonderful Tonight, Lay Down Sally, Promises, Change the World and While My Guitar Gently Weeps.  They made a welcome return to Orkney after a gap of 6 years.  The full band performed there in 2012.

Another incredible reaction from a capacity crowd. The Stables must be one of the best venues of it's size in the UK. There are video clips from this show & Worcester available to watch on the classicclapton Facebook page.

Although this concert sold out, a number of people didn't attend the show because of the Covid situation.  However the atmosphere was terrific and it was one of our best Christmas parties ever!

Legendary guitarist Eric Clapton announced 8 tour dates in the United States for 2021. The 76-year-old musician will begin his tour in Fort Worth, Texas next September 13. Eric Clapton’s band for these shows will include Doyle Bramhall II, Paul Carrack, Nathan East, Sonny Emory, Steve Gadd and Chris Stainton with Sharon White and Katie Kissoon on backing vocals. The show will feature Jimmie Vaughan as special guest.

These shows will precede his European tour, which was recently rescheduled to Spring of 2022 due to ongoing COVID restrictions in Europe.

Also fourth in Gibson’s “Top 50 Guitarists of All Time”.

Eric Clapton Reveals Five-Date 2023 North American Tour

Days before his 78th birthday on March 30, Eric Clapton has revealed a five-date tour. He says the shows will be his only dates in North America in 2023.

Featuring special guest Jimmie Vaughan, Clapton’s short run of shows is set to kick off on September 8 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Additional stops will be made in Ontario, Canada; Missouri, and Minnesota before wrapping up in Denver, Colorado, on September 16.

Clapton’s current band joining him on tour features Sonny Emory, Chris Stainton, Doyle Bramhall II, Paul Carrack, and Nathan East, with backing vocalists Katie Kissoon and Sharon White.

In 2022, Clapton released his 21st album, and first-holiday release, Happy Xmas . He also dropped a number of singles since the pandemic, including his most recent, “ Pompous Fool ,” which he said was inspired by former U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s retirement announcement.

Clapton, who has been outspoken against the Covid vaccine and the policies surrounding the pandemic lockdown, and Van Morrison collaborated on another anti-lockdown song “Stand & Deliver” in the midst of the pandemic in 2020. By 2021, Clapton also released the song “ This Has Gotta Stop ,” which was followed by “ Heart of a Child ,” a song he co-wrote with vaccine skeptic Robin Monotti.

The guitarist said that he suffered severe reactions to the AstraZeneca vaccine, which left his hands and feet numb for weeks, making him question whether he would ever be able to play guitar again.

On his previous tour in 2022, Clapton tested positive for COVID-19 shortly after his second concert at Royal Albert Hall in London and was forced to cancel several dates on his European Tour.

In April, Clapton will also perform six nights at Budokan in Tokyo, followed by two Jeff Beck   tribute concerts at the Royal Albert Hall in London on May 22 and 23. The tribute show will also feature guests including Johnny Depp, Rod Stewart, Billy Gibbons , and Gary Clark Jr., among others.

Clapton, who was replaced by Beck in The Yardbirds in 1965, paid tribute to Beck in the wake of his death, posting a photo of the late guitarist with the caption “Always and ever.” 

A percentage of the proceeds from the two concerts will be donated to Folly Wildlife Rescue located in Tunbridge Wells in Kent, England.

Eric Clapton will return to the road for a new set of US dates in September. His special guest on the shows will be blues-rock favorite and Fabulous Thunderbirds co-founder Jimmie Vaughan.

Clapton’s band for the eight-date itinerary is comprised of many A-list musicians with whom he has a long history. They include Doyle Bramhall II, Paul Carrack, Nathan East, Sonny Emory, Steve Gadd, and Chris Stainton, with backing vocalists Sharon White and Katie Kissoon.

In early March, the guitar giant announced that his 15-date European tour for 2021, which had been scheduled for June 5-23, was being postponed due to coronavirus restrictions. Those dates have been rearranged for May 17-June 22, 2022. These will be preceded by two nights at London’s Royal Albert Hall on May 7 and 8. The new American concerts are thus Clapton’s only confirmed shows of 2021, and tickets will go on sale on Friday (June 18).

Clapton has also announced that, like his friend Mark Knopfler , he is supporting the Streets of London charity’s #ComeOnHome campaign and its prize draw. Fans have the chance to win two tickets for his Royal Albert Hall show on May 8, 2022, with entry into the draw costing £3 for one entry. The more entries, the greater the chance of winning, and you can enter as many times as you like . The more you donate, the cheaper the cost per entry, so for example a donation of £15 will receive ten entries rather than five. The closing date for entries is Friday, June 25.

Eric Clapton Kicks Off U.K. and European Tour: Set List, Videos

Eric Clapton made his return to the stage on May 7, kicking off a U.K. and European tour with the first of two consecutive nights at London's Royal Albert Hall.

The legendary guitarist opened his set by honoring Gary Brooker, the founder and lead singer of Procol Harum who died in February. Clapton performed “Lead Me to the Water” -- the title track from Brooker’s 1982 solo album -- while a picture of the deceased rocker was shown on stage.

From there, Clapton rattled off some more familiar tunes, including renditions of the Wailers “I Shot the Sheriff” and Cream ’s “White Room.”

A third of the way through the show, Clapton switched things up for a series of acoustic numbers, including “Tears in Heaven” and “Layla.” Surprisingly, the latter track would be performed again later in the evening when he returned to his full electric sound.

With the exception of a March 19 performance in Bahrain, Clapton has not performed live since last September, when he embarked on a brief tour of the southern United States. The trek made headlines at the time because Clapton, an outspoken critic of COVID-19 vaccines and vaccine mandates, vowed to not to play at venues that required proof of vaccination, though he ultimately reneged on that promise.

Over the past year and a half, Clapton has criticized the United Kingdom's lockdown measures in a series of songs written with fellow vaccine skeptic Van Morrison , including " The Rebels " and " Stand and Deliver ." He also co-wrote his recent solo single " Heart of a Child " with prominent Italian vaccine skeptic Robin Monotti.

Clapton insists he is not an anti-vaxxer, though he claimed he's been " ostracized " by friends, family and  fellow musicians because of his polarizing views. He also accused Rolling Stone of running " slur campaign " against him last year because of his vaccine skepticism and lockdown criticism. Nevertheless, the embattled guitarist said his protest songs helped him to feel " socially involved " again and lit a fire in him that had been "dormant" for a long time.

Eric Clapton Band Lineup and Tour Support 2024

Eric Clapton will kick off his 2024 Tour on May 9 at the Utilita Arena in Newcastle, England. Concerts are then scheduled across the UK, Europe, South America, and North America through mid-October, wrapping up with a concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. The UK leg will include four nights at London’s Royal Albert Hall, a venue Eric has played well-over 200 times.

Eric’s band for 2024 is Nathan East (bass / vocals), Doyle Bramhall II (guitar / vocals), Sonny Emory (drums), Chris Stainton (keyboards), Tim Carmon (Hammond / keyboards), Sharon White (backing vocals) and Katie Kissoon (backing vocals).

Joining Eric as support will be Andy Fairweather Low & The Low Riders in the UK and Ireland, Rover in France, Gary Clark, Jr. in South America and Mexico, and Jimmie Vaughan in the US.

Eric Clapton Opens Tour With Tribute to Robbie Robertson

Eric Clapton began his brief 2023 North American tour on Friday night (September 8) with a pair of songs in tribute to his friend, Robbie Robertson, The Band’s lead guitarist and songwriter who died August 9 at age 80. The two classic rock legends had a long mutual admiration and respect for each other. When The Band were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1994, it was Clapton who gave the induction speech. When Clapton first discovered the group’s music, he was in awe. “When I went to visit The Band in Woodstock, and I really sort of went there to ask if I could join The Band, and I didn’t have the guts to say it!” In the 2019 documentary film, Once Were Brothers: Robbie Robertson and The Band , Clapton said, “ Music From Big Pink changed my life,” later adding, “I was in great awe of their brotherhood.”

At the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, PA—the first of five concerts he’s doing this month, Clapton opened with The Band’s “The Shape I’m In” that included a spirited solo, with the house lights on, and followed it with “It Makes No Difference.” As the latter ended, Clapton said, simply, “Robbie Robertson.”

Clapton then turned to more familiar territory, offering “Key to the Highway” and “I Shot the Sheriff.” A five-song acoustic, seated set followed with such tracks as “Nobody Knows You When You’re Down and Out” and “Call Me the Breeze,” followed by “Layla” and “Tears in Heaven.”

The 16-song concert continued with another electric set that included “Cross Road Blues,” “Little Queen of Spades” and “Cocaine.”

Clapton, who turned 78 on March 30, did a residency at the Budokan in Tokyo, Japan in April and organized a pair of tribute concerts for Jeff Beck that were held on May 22-23 at London’s Royal Albert Hall. Tickets for most of other September shows are available here . Clapton will be hosting a Crossroads Guitar Festival later this month, his first since 2019. Robertson was an occasional guest performer at some of the earlier festivals.

2023 marks Clapton’s 60th year as a professional musician. The legendary guitarist joined The Yardbirds in 1963 and the following years saw him join John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, Cream, Blind Faith, Delaney & Bonnie & Friends, and Derek and the Dominos along with a solo career spanning five decades.

The show is a 2-hour journey through the music of Eric Clapton including all of his hits – ‘Wonderful Tonight’, ‘I Shot The Sheriff’, ‘Lay Down Sally’, ‘Crossroads’, ‘Tears in Heaven’, ‘Layla’ and even an Unplugged segment.

The band was formed in 1985 as ‘ After Midnight’. In 2000 they began touring the UK as an Eric Clapton tribute band . This is likely to be the final concert by the full Classic Clapton band.  This tour also celebrates the 38 th anniversary of their first ever gig. In future Mike intends to continue with acoustic shows and the occasional gig by the ‘After Midnight’ band.

Classic Clapton features front-man Mike Hall who not only looks like Eric, he sings and plays guitar like him too! The band comprises 4 excellent musicians who stunningly recreate Slowhand’s electrifying stage performances. The whole of EC’s illustrious career is covered including Cream, The Bluesbreakers, The Yardbirds, Blind Faith, Derek & The Dominos and the solo years.

Classic Clapton have toured throughout the UK including numerous sell-out shows.  They have appeared at The Royal Festival Hall and Glastonbury Festival where they were a major success.  In the past few years they have played numerous concerts in Europe including Spain, Estonia, Holland & France. In 2009 & 2016 they toured India. In 2017 they appeared in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Second round of Invited Celebrity Classic canceled due to inclement weather

The second round of the Invited Celebrity Classic has been canceled due to inclement weather around Las Colinas Country Club in Irving, Texas.

"Due to the current weather conditions and forecast throughout the greater Dallas-Forth Worth area, competition at the Invited Celebrity Classic presented by Choctaw Casinos & Resorts will be canceled for Saturday, April 20," a statement released by PGA TOUR Champions announced. "Round 2 will be played on Sunday, April 21 and will utilize the same tee times. As a result of today's cancellation, this event will now be contested as a 36-hole competition. There will be no formal cut."

This marks the second time this season that a PGA TOUR Champions event will be official after 36 holes of competition. Stephen Ames was declared the winner of the The Chubb Classic presented by SERVPRO after 36 holes of competition earlier this season as weather caused Sunday's final round to be canceled.

Thomas Bjørn holds the 18-hole lead at 7-under with a pack of four golfers one stroke behind him at 6-under. Bjørn, who has never won on PGA TOUR Champions, finished runner-up at the Trophy Hassan II in February, his only other start this season.
