Pam Tanowitz
The New York choreographer became hot property with her TS Eliot-inspired Four Quartets in 2018. Linbury theatre, Royal Opera House, London , 4-16 February
Dada Masilo: The Sacrifice
The arresting Soweto-born performer and choreographer has carved out a distinctive niche reinventing the stories of classic ballets (Giselle, Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliet) against a backdrop of 21st-century African society and politics. The Sacrifice combines Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring with the traditional Tswana dance of Botswana. Brighton Dome , 21-22 February; then touring until 12 April
Scottish Ballet
In a busy spring schedule, Scottish Ballet revive the sultry storytelling and heightened passions of Annabelle Lopez Ochoa’s A Streetcar Named Desire, last seen in 2015. Curve, Leicester , 17 May-3 June, then touring until 28 October

It’s a large-scale, Matrix-inspired immersive performance, featuring dancers and hundreds of local performers, choreographed and soundtracked by Kenrick Sandy and Michael Asante from Boy Blue. Factory International, Manchester , 13 October-5 November
A new show from Josie Long is more than just comedy, it’s a heart-on-sleeve update on the personal life and politics of one of her generation’s best loved acts. Ahead of the publication of her debut short story collection, Long now returns to “alternately yell at you and melt your heart” about new babies and the end days of Tory Britain. The Stand, Glasgow , 12 January, then touring until 28 September
From online videos, to Man Like Mobeen , and now to a UK standup tour for the ex-teacher turned TV star. His recent West End stint promised reflections on “what’s going on in my life and a little bit on my childhood”. Touring, he’ll likely stay on similar territory. Lowry, Manchester , 15 January, then touring until 4 February
Maisie Adam
With a debut tour, Yorkshire’s Maisie Adam has plenty to be buzzed about – which is very much the territory of her new show, a joyful confection celebrating her engagement, her sky-rocketing career and England’s victory in the women’s Euros . Komedia, Brighton , 31 January, then touring until 16 March
Catherine Cohen
The New York cabaret artist’s The Twist …? She’s Gorgeous took Edinburgh by storm on the 2019 fringe, and ended up on Netflix. Now she returns with a new suite of lacerating musical comedy, on “entering your 30s as a woman online, in love and [facing] the prospect of freezing your eggs”. Norwich Playhouse , 1 February, then touring until 11 February
Sam Campbell
2022’s Edinburgh comedy award-winner comes to Soho with – well, what exactly? Campbell resists packaging his shows like anyone else. This one looks likely to be best bits from the fringe plus (it says here) “some fresh produce”. What’s certain is it’ll be slacker-ish, silly, and you’ll never know what’s round the next corner. Soho theatre, London , 27 February-4 March
Bassem Youssef
Hounded into exile in 2014 when the government forced the cancellation of his hit satirical show El Bernameg, the “Egyptian Jon Stewart” made a new life in America, featuring in Netflix documentary Tickling Giants , and guesting in Mo Amer’s recent comedy-drama Mo . Now he hits the UK, with a standup and storytelling show relating his remarkable life. Royal Festival Hall, London , 9 March, then touring until 11 March
Nick Mohammed
One of the finest comic alter egos of the last decade is Nick Mohammed’s excitable northern busybody Mr Swallow. The character never quite broke out – but Mohammed did, as a star of Apple TV+ smash Ted Lasso . Hence this first UK tour with “new, old, very old and previously unusable” Mr Swallow routines, sure to include magic, feats of memory and very daft comedy. Duke of York’s theatre, London , 26 March, then touring until 14 May

The best thing about London Comedy is we love to laugh at ourselves!
Embarrassing moments, awkward encounters and clumsiness are all considered funny..
In London (and then UK) you can’t take yourself too seriously. We love to laugh at our own flaws and make light of our failures. It’s this self-deprecating humour that makes us seem more approachable, humble and relatable.
Participant guidelines
Minimum age: 12 (under 16s need to be accompanied by a paying adult, parent or guardian) the tour is unfortunately not suitable for those with mobility difficulties..
The experience content may vary from tour to tour.

Why did we decide to launch London’s History of Comedy Walk & Tour?
Basically, because there isn't one (!) and Soho offers such a rich history and depth of Comedy. We will also strive to make the Tour as interactive as possible and include you, the group (or audience!) as much as possible. WSell even hello you make your best joke funnier!
History of London comedy
British comedy has had its own query identity and charm for centuries. shakespeare incorporated many chase scenes and beatings into his comedies, such as in his play the comedy of errors. .
The quarrelsome couple Punch and Judy made their first recorded appearance in Britain in 1662, when Samuel Pepys noted a “pretty” puppet play being performed in Covent Garden, London. The various episodes of Punch and Judy are performed in the spirit of outrageous comedy — often provoking shocked laughter — and are dominated by the anarchic clowning of Mr. Punch.
In early 19th century England, pantomime acquired its present form, which includes slapstick comedy and featured the first mainstream clown - Joseph Grimaldi.
Comedians who honed their skills at pantomime and music halls across London include Bob Hope, Mr Bean, Joe Lycett, Ken Dodd, Jimmy Carr, Stephen Fry, Sandi Toksvig, Peter Cook, Charlie Chaplin, Ricky Gervais, Joan Rivers, Charlie Chaplin, Laurel and Hardy and even William Shakespeare.
The UK is primarily known for satire and has had many fine examples on both TV and stage. From the 1960’s to Spitting Image and modern day comics, satire is used to criticise those in power, especially Governments and Fat cats. Freedom of speech is used to an extreme within Comedy and in dark times, may be the only form of protest that actually has any effect.
Interestingly, in Poland, the saying "British humour" means "not funny." But us Brits are proud of our humour. Its unique mixture of surrealism, satire and just plain silliness is one of things that define the British character.
Most cities have a particular sense of humour, finding some things much funnier than their neighbours and that is certainly the case with London. We love a sense of irony and enjoyment of sarcasm – often known as ‘banter’ and is a common and often hard-to-interpret trait.
With London having their own unique stamp on comedy that is simply hilarious, and with us being the only London Comedy Tour in town, surely that makes us London’s Funniest Tour!

Riad is a big addition to the Biggest Muslim Comedy Takeover.

Gaza Emergency Appeal
Leave no one behind this winter.
In the ongoing crisis in Palestine, Human Appeal stands united to provide urgent aid. Since October 7, over 20,000 Palestinians, including over 8,000 children, have been killed, with over 53,320 wounded and many missing. Hospitals are on the brink, 27 out of 35 hospitals are non-operational, and 102 ambulances lie damaged. The siege has left 2.3 million people without essential supplies. Gaza's power plant is shut, and hospitals face imminent fuel shortages. Entire neighbourhoods have been wiped out, and families urgently need support for basic necessities. Your donation can provide hygiene kits, water tanks, nutritious food parcels, fuel, waterproof shelters, winter kits, medical treatment, and support for Palestinian families. Human Appeal, in partnership with global UN allies, has been aiding the region since 1991. Our local teams have been actively assisting Palestinians for over 30 years, and we remain committed to supporting them long after media attention wanes, contributing to the rebuilding and empowerment of Palestinian families. Every contribution makes a meaningful impact. Donate now to alleviate the suffering in the holy land.
