Specs, prices, features: Everything you need to know about the new Mitsubishi Xpander Cross

The new Mitsubishi Xpander Cross has finally landed in the Philippines. After its global debut back in August 2022 , we knew it was only a matter of time before the refreshed subcompact MPV arrived here.

The Xpander Cross has its work cut out for it, though. It now enters a segment stacked with the likes of the Honda BR-V , Hyundai Stargazer , and Toyota Veloz . How will Mitsubishi Motors Philippines’ newest offering fare against the competition? If you want to learn more about the new Xpander Cross, then read on through.

Variants and prices

The Xpander Cross technically sits at the top of the Xpander range, so it is a variant. Spec it with either a Blade Silver Metallic or Graphite Gray Metallic monotone finish and you’re looking at a  P1,328,000  price tag. The two-tone Sunrise Orange Metallic and Quartz White Pearl options come with an added  P10,000 and  P25,000  on top of the SRP.

The refreshed Xpander Cross basically has the same design as the facelifted Xpander both up front and out back. The difference, of course, is with all the added plastic trim underneath and the optional two-tone looks for this one. The Cross also gets 225mm of ground clearance and 17-inch alloy wheels.

Three rows, seven seats. Again, it’s the exact same as what the base Xpander gets, only this one has more leather to go around the cabin. There are various storage compartments up front, with a center console big enough to store four 600ml bottles. At the rearmost part of the cabin, there are underfloor organizers that can store up to two pairs of shoes.

Engine and specs

It’s the same story yet again under the hood. The Xpander Cross is powered by a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with 104hp and 141Nm of torque paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Nope, still no CVT for this one, folks.

Extra features

The refreshed Xpander Cross gets a new eight-inch digital instrument cluster that’s paired with a seven-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. USB-A and USB-C ports are found in the second row, as well as multi-function pockets behind the front-row seats.

Other amenities in the Xpander Cross include cruise control, a reversing camera, an electronic parking brake with auto-brake hold, and safety tech such as active yaw control.

If there is any radical-looking MUV which has been launched in recent times, it has to be the Mitsubishi Xpander. The frontal view of the Xpander looks super stylish with the sleek daytime running LEDs and grille, as well as unique vertical headlamps, positioned slightly upper on the front bumper.

The Mitsubishi Xpander keeps form and function on an equal priority, as the vehicle feels very practical on the inside as well, apart from having a tremendous visual appeal on the outside. The Mitsubishi Xpander feels comfortable for all the seven passengers on board with enough room for all of them.

Keeping its targeted audience in mind, the suspension setup of the Mitsubishi Xpander has been tuned on a softer side, which do make the overall ride quality plush and comfortable.

The 1.5 liter petrol engine under the hood of the Mitsubishi Xpander is good enough in returning a fuel economy of 22.9 kmpl, which is simply excellent for a seven seater MUV

The Mitsubishi Xpander looks very attractive and futuristic as far as its exterior design is concerned. However, the interior cabin of the Xpander falls short on expectations. The dashboard looks tad too boring, and the staid looking fonts in instrument console and boxy looking center console could have styled a bit better.

Apart from the presence of cruise control and a touchscreen infotainment system, there are no other special and prominent comfort and convenience features in the Mitsubishi Xpander.

The Xpander Cross is not only a pleasure to drive, it’s convenient too. Outside the vehicle, you’ll find several SUV touches – one of which is roof rails. These not only add to the rugged looks, any extra luggage can go up top.

The Xpander Cross has 17-inch alloys wheels. Alloys make the car look sporty and the wider rims means larger tyres can be fitted, which creates a more stable ride.

A strong, geometric face

The face of the Xpander Cross incorporates a geometric design concept called the ‘Advanced Dynamic shield’. This creates a bold look and forms a protective zone for both the driver and occupants. The strong, sculpted look continues at the back with a prominent skid plate for extra underbody protection.

Lighting up more of the road

In the Xpander Cross, the headlamp cluster is embedded within the front bumper. By positioning them lower – at the vehicle’s edge – the beam illuminates more of the road ahead.

We wanted the Xpander Cross interiors to reflect our deep held belief of ‘Omotenashi’, the Japanese word for ‘hospitality’. So as well as Japanese craftsmanship, there are lots of other touches, like clever storage areas and a superior climate control system.

Making hill starts easy

Hill Start Assist makes starting on a steep slope really easy. It holds the brake on for up to two seconds until you press the accelerator. So you need never worry about rolling back again.

More stable on slippery surfaces

If wheels lose their grip on slippery surfaces or while turning, ASC automatically adjusts engine output and applies braking force at the appropriate wheels to help maintain control and prevent skidding.

Greater control when braking

The anti-lock braking system (ABS) helps prevent the wheels from locking up during emergency braking so you can maintain greater steering control, even on slippery roads.

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Mitsubishi Xpander jadi salah satu mobil di segmen Low MPV yang memiliki cruise control. Dengan fitur ini, perjalanan jauh jadi terasa lebih santai dan bikin konsumsi BBM cenderung hemat.

Hal inilah yang dirasakan redaksi Kompas.com saat menjajal Xpander tipe Ultimate di Tol Trans Jawa pada momentum Mudik Lebaran belum lama ini.

Melalui fitur cruise control, pengemudi bisa memilih kecepatan yang diinginkan secara konstan tanpa harus menahan pedal gas secara terus-menerus.

Untuk dapat menikmati cruise control pada Xpander pun terbilang mudah. Cara mengaktifkannya hanya perlu memacu kendaraan di atas kecepatan 40 kpj.

Setelah memacu kendaraan pada kecepatan yang diinginkan, selanjutnya tekan tombol berlogo jarum dengan tanda panah di sebelah kanan kemudi terlebih dahulu.

Kemudian, colek tuas ke bawah yang bertuliskan SET (-) untuk mengunci kecepatan konstan sesuai keinginan. Setelah itu, fitur cruise control sudah benar-benar bekerja.

Apabila fitur cruise control ini sudah aktif dan bekerja, maka akan muncul indikator bertuliskan SET CRUISE berwarna hijau pada layar Multi Information Display (MID) pada meter cluster.

Pada mode ini,  untuk menambahkan kecepatan konstan cukup dengan colek tuas RES (+) ke atas. Adapun untuk mengurangi kecepatan tinggal pencet tuas SET (-).

Sementara untuk menonaktifkan fitur cruise control terdapat dua cara, yakni dengan cara menginjak pedal rem atau menekan tombol Cancel di setir.

Lantas, apa yang terjadi ketika Anda menginjak pedal gas saat cruise control aktif? Mobil akan melaju selayaknya Anda berkendara biasa, sementara fitur cruise control-nya masih aktif.

Namun, ketika melepas pedal gas, kecepatan mobil akan kembali turun ke posisi kecepatan semula, sesuai yang diatur ketika menetapkan kecepatan konstan saat pertama kali mengaktifkan fitur cruise control.

Untuk mendapat pengalaman yang menyeluruh, kami sengaja berkendara hingga lebih dari 100 Km dengan fitur cruise control.

Ketika dikombinasikan dengan fitur cruise control, laju mobil cenderung santai tidak menggebu-gebu di jalan tol.

Meski begitu, ketika fitur cruise control akfif, pengemudi harus tetap berfokus pada kondisi dan situasi lalu lintas.

Jangan sampai terlena dengan kenyamanan fitur ini, karena mobil harus selalu menjaga jarak dengan kendaraan di depan.

Tercatat usai menempuh jarak 104,3 Km, dengan kecepatan rata-rata 91 Kpj, konsumsi BBM yang tampil di layar MID menghasilkan 15,7 Km per liter.

Iritnya konsumsi BBM sedikit banyak juga didukung transmisi CVT, yang bisa menjaga putaran mesin di sekitar 2.000 rpm saja ketika melaju pada kecepatan 100 kpj.

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Memasuki April 2024 yang menjadi momen perayaan Hari Raya Lebaran, rupanya sudah ada perubahan harga di segmen low multi purpose vehicle ( LMPV ).

Berdasarkan pantauan, ada dua merek yang sudah mengerek banderolnya pada April 2024, yakni Suzuki dengan Ertiga biasa maupun versi hybrid, serta Mitsubishi Xpander .

Suzuki Ertiga versi biasa, yakni GA MT saat ini menjadi Rp 232 juta dari sebelumnya hanya Rp 228,4 juta. Sementara versi GL baik AT mapun MT mengalami kenaikan sebesar Rp 3,6 juta.

Demikian juga untuk versi hybrid yang ikut mengalami revisi harga, termasuk Ertiga varian Cruise yang diluncurkan dalam gelaran IIMS pada Fenruari 2024 lalu.

Sementara Mitsubishi Xpander, kenaikan harga pada momen Lebaran berlaku untuk semua tipe yang dipasarkan. Versi GLS yang jadi varian terendah saat ini dipasarkan Rp 263,2 juta dari sebelumnya Rp 261,2 juta.

Untuk varian tertinggi, yakni Xpander Ultimate CVT, terkerek sebesar Rp 2 juta atau saat ini menjadi Rp 317,9 juta dari banderol sebelumnya di Maret 2024.

Selain kedua merek tersebut, LMPV merek lain seperti, Toyota Avanza, Daihatsu Xenia, Hyundai Stargazer, Wuling Confero, Nissan Livina, dan Honda Mobilio, masih masih mempertahankan banderol yang sama dengan bulan lalu.
