How to add Favorites in Safari on iPhone, iPad and Mac

This tutorial shows you how to add websites to the Favorites section of your Safari browser on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. The sites added to Favorites appear on Safari Start Page, making them quicker to open.

Safari Bookmarks vs Favorites

Using bookmarks is handy for saving websites that you visit regularly or want to reference in the future. But Safari also offers a Favorites feature that lets you visit your most loved websites with a tap or a click.

Your Favorites will show up when you open Safari, a new tab, or a new window. You can change this in Safari’s settings. However, using the Favorites feature lets you go directly where you want to each day.

If you’re new to this feature, here’s how to add Favorites in Safari in iOS, iPadOS, and macOS.

How to add Favorites in Safari on iPhone and iPad

It’s very easy to add a website to your Safari Favorites on your iOS device. Open the website you want as a favorite, and then do the following:

• Tap the share button on the bottom.
• Select Add to Favorites .
• On the next screen, you can change the display name for the site if you like. Finally, tap Save .

Manage your Favorites on iOS

To manage your Favorites on iPhone and iPad, open Safari and tap the Bookmarks button . Go to the Favorites folder and tap the Edit button. From there, you can delete or rearrange Favorites. To edit a specific site, tap it, and you can change its display name or move it to a different folder.

How to add Favorites in Safari on Mac

Safari favorites sync among all your Apple devices . So, if you added a favorite on your iPhone or iPad, it will show up on your Mac, too, and vice versa.

That being said, you have four different ways to add websites to your Favorites in Safari on Mac. Use whichever is most convenient for you.

Use the share button

• Open the web page you wish to add to Safari Favorites and click the share button .
• Click Add Bookmark .
• Click the Bookmarks dropdown menu and choose Favorites .
• Finally, click Add .

Use the one-step add button

Put your cursor over the left side of the address bar until you see the plus sign (+) . Click and hold the plus sign and then choose Favorites from the dropdown list.

Drag the URL to Favorites

• Click the show sidebar icon and click Bookmarks > Favorites .
• Place your mouse pointer on the website URL in the address bar and drag it to the Favorites section in the sidebar.

Use multitasking window to add to Favorites

• Open Safari and visit the desired site. Now, press Command + N to open a new Safari window.
• Open both Safari windows in Split View . To do this, press your mouse pointer on the tiny green button and choose Tile Window to Left or Right of Screen .
• Once you have two Safari windows in Split View, place the mouse pointer on the URL in the address bar and drag it to the Favorites section of the Start Page in the second Safari window.

Manage your Favorites on Mac

You can manage your Favorites on Mac in the Favorites folder in the sidebar, your Favorites toolbar, or your Favorites page. Drag to rearrange, right-click or hold Control and click to rename, delete, edit the address, or create a new folder for a favorite.

• Open  Safari  → Visit a website that you want to save as a Favorite.
• Tap the  Share  button → Swipe the share sheet and choose  Add to Favorites .
• Optionally, adjust the name of the site as you want it to display in your Favorites list.

As shown above, if there’s a website that you visit often, maybe a preferred news page, your blog, or a site you need for work, you can add it to your Favorites for fast access.

When you want to visit a website you’ve added to your Favorites, you have a few ways to do so. The one you use can depend on if you use the Safari Start Page and also have your Favorites on that page.

On iPhone :

Open  Safari  → Do one of the following to see your Favorites list:

Open  Safari  and do one of the following:

• Tap inside the Safari  Search   bar and select a Favorite site.
• Choose the  plus sign  to open a new tab with your Start Page and pick a Favorite .

As you continue to add websites to your Favorites, that list can grow and easily become unmanageable. To keep your Favorites neat and clean, you can move, rename, and even place them in folders.

• On iPad, open the sidebar and select  Bookmarks .

• Choose  Done  at the bottom when you finish.

Tip : Did you know you can sync your Safari Favorites just like your Bookmarks for easy access on all your Apple devices? 

Just like adding sites to your Safari Favorites over time, you may want to remove one or two. You can delete Favorites in Safari you no longer visit or simply move the site out of your Favorites list.

Open  Safari  and access your Favorites as described above. Then, do one of the following to remove a Favorite:

Note that you won’t be asked to confirm, so be sure you want to delete the site before you remove it.

How to Move Safari Favorites to your preferred location on iPhone

If you have a website that you don’t want in the Favorites list, but don’t want to delete either, you can simply move it to your Bookmarks .

• Tap the  arrow  on the right side of the Favorite you want to move.
• Select  Favorites  below  Location .
• Pick the new location for the website. This places a checkmark next to the location and moves the site to it.

• Tap  Done  to save your change and exit Edit mode.

When you tap the  Share  button while visiting a website in Safari, you’ll see both  Add Bookmark  and  Add to Favorites . The first option lets you save the site in your Bookmarks list, while the second adds the site directly to your Favorites instead.

Bookmarks is a good spot for websites you want to hold onto and visit down the road while Favorites is the ideal location for sites you visit regularly, like daily or even several times per day.

How to customize Favorites in Safari on Mac, iPhone, and iPad

Whenever you open a new window or tab in Safari, you’ll see a view showing a grid of your favorite sites. But what if those Favorites aren’t actually your favorites? What if the default Favorites are useless to you, and you want to have a different set of sites appear in a new tab instead?

That’s why were here today. We’ll see how to customize the Safari Favorites in both iOS and macOS , while leaving everything else, like the bookmarks bar, intact.

What are Safari Favorites exactly?

By default on iOS, the Favorites sheet is populated by your — you guessed it — Favorite bookmark folder. This is the folder that contains the bookmarks you add to Safari’s bookmarks bar. However, it’s easy to change this for a more useful folder.

Why? Well, what if your bookmarks bar is full of fancy bookmarklets that you use to translate pages, add sites to Pinboard, or clear away pesky popups ? Those are perfectly suited to the bookmarks bar, because they’re accessible with one touch, but not so useful in a new tab, where they’ll do nothing.

No, what you want in a new browser window or tab is a page of your most-visited sites: the forums you frequent, the page with the details of class times at your yoga center, the page with the opening hours of you local chiropractor — that kind of thing. I have a folder called Mobile for this, and I use it as my “home page” on Mac and iOS. Here’s how to set it up on both.

Setting your Favorites page on macOS

This one’s easy. Fire up Safari, go to Safari>Preferences in the menu, choose General , and check out Favorites Shows . This is the pop-up menu where you can choose any of your bookmarks folders to use in the Favorites view.

You also need to make sure that the New windows open with: and New tabs open with: are set to Favorites

Now you’re done. Bonus tip: You can rearrange all the bookmarks in the Favorites view just by dragging them with the mouse.

Setting your Favorites page on iOS

On iOS it’s even easier, although instead of opening Safari you open the Settings app, and head to Settings>Safari . In there you tap the line for Favorites , and then select your desired folder in the list.

That’s it. It’s super easy. You can also rearrange icons in iOS Safari in the same way, by dragging them around in a new tab.

Setting a custom Favorites folder can be very useful. Bookmark folders sync between Mac and iOS, so you can have identical Favorites everywhere. But you can also have different Favorites on your iPhone, iPad, and Mac, and you can easily switch Favorites, keeping a set for home and a set for work. If you want to sync your bookmarks to your iPhone or iPad, you'll need to do a few extra steps. This wikiHow article teaches you how to import bookmarks to Safari whether you're moving from Google Chrome, Firefox, or any other browser.

Quick Tips to Move Your Safari Bookmarks

To import bookmarks from another browser in Safari, click File , Import From , and then select a browser. You can also export your bookmarks into an HTML file in Chrome, Firefox, or another browser, and then import it with Safari.

• Use this method if you want to import bookmarks from Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox into Safari on your Mac device.
• If this is your first time opening Safari, importing from Chrome or Firefox can be automatic if you choose Keep your imported items . If you didn't opt for that, continue reading to manually import bookmarks from Chrome and Firefox.

How to hide favorites on safari's new tab page on iphone and ipad.

Tired of Favorites links cluttering up a blank Safari tab or window on iPhone or iPad? Here's how to get rid of them without deleting any Favorites.

The quest for a truly blank safari page, step 1: make an empty favorites folder in safari, step 2: configure safari in settings.

Normally, Safari on iPhone and iPad displays a list of Favorites on its blank pages whenever you open a new window or tab. Unfortunately, Apple does not provide a simple and obvious way to disable this, but there is a way to do it. Here's how to set it up.

Ordinarily, if you have any Favorites saved in Safari on your iPhone or iPad, they will show up on a "blank" page like this after you create a new tab or open a new page.

Using a simple trick, we're going to get rid of that group of Favorites links on your Safari's blank page, and you won't need to delete your Favorites to do it. The key is to make Safari display the contents of an empty Favorites subfolder that we are going to create.

Although we've used iPhone screenshots, the following instructions work for the iPad as well.

First, open Safari on your iPhone or iPad and tap the "Bookmarks" button, which is an icon that looks like an open book. On the iPhone, it's located in the toolbar at the bottom of the screen. On the iPad, you'll find it at the top of the screen just to the left of the address bar.

In the menu that appears, select the "Bookmarks" tab (which looks like the outline of an open book), then tap "Edit."

Once Edit mode starts, tap "New Folder" at the bottom of the menu.

In the "Title" text box, type in the name "Empty." Technically, you can name this folder anything you like, but the name "Empty" will help you remember its purpose in the future.

After that, tap the "Location" drop-down menu and select "Favorites." Then tap "Done."

Then tap "Done" again to exit Edit mode.

We're done in Safari for now. Next, we'll go into Settings to make a small change.

Now we need to tell Safari to display the empty folder of Favorites that we just created. When it displays this empty folder, no Favorites will appear, and Safari will generate a truly blank page.

To do that, open "Settings" and navigate to "Safari."

In the "General" section, click "Favorites."

In the list that pops up, choose the "Empty" folder we created earlier.

After that, tap back once, then exit Settings.

The next time you open Safari to a blank page, you will see no Favorites at all.

Simplicity at last! If you want to keep the page blank, remember to never save any Favorites to the "Empty" folder we created. Keep it empty, and you've always see this blank gray page when you open a new tab or window in Safari on iPhone or iPad.

How To : This Hidden Setting Gives Safari's Favorites Bar Better-Looking Shortcuts to Your Most-Used Bookmarks

Apple has a new way to tidy up your favorite bookmarks in Safari , making them easier to access than ever before. This new feature saves space, allowing you to quickly see more of your favorites at the same time.

While you can quickly access any of your iCloud-synced favorite bookmarks in Safari from your iPhone, iPad, or Mac, the newest Safari feature is for macOS and iPadOS only since it's all about the Favorites Bar. The bookmarks bar has been available in Safari on macOS for a while but has only become an iPad option since iPadOS 17 .

To show the Favorites Bar on macOS, go to View –> Show Favorites in Safari's menu bar. On iPadOS, go to Settings –> Safari and toggle on "Show Favorites Bar."

Since the initial release of macOS 14 Sonoma and iPadOS 17, Safari 17 has included an option to hide favicons, or website icons, from bookmarks in the Favorites Bar. It also affects folder icons and works with Safari 17 on the older macOS versions.

With the feature, favicons will still appear on tabs, history results, and Safari's Start Page on macOS and iPadOS, as well as in the list that pops up after you click the "Show more bookmarks" icon (>>) at the end of the Favorites Bar on macOS. However, it will increase the number of favorites you see on the Favorites Bar as a whole.

In the Safari 17.4 update for macOS, released March 7, two days after it became available on iPadOS 17 , there's an even better way to save space in the Favorites Bar. Instead of removing the icons, you can remove the text, freeing up even more room for additional bookmarks to show at once in the bar. Let's see how it all works below, but make sure you're running Safari 17.4 first.

Option 1: show/hide titles per bookmark on mac, option 2: show/hide titles per bookmark on ipad, option 3: show/hide all titles or icons on mac, option 4: show/hide all titles or icons on ipad.

To show only the icon of a specific webpage in your Favorites Bar on macOS, right-click or Control-click the bookmark in the bar and deselect "Show Title." Only the webpage's icon will show. However, if the bookmark gets pushed off into the hidden "Show more bookmarks" list, its name will still appear next to its icon.

To return the name, right-click or Control-click the bookmark in the bar and select "Show Title."

Before Safari 17.4, the only option was "Show Icons," which applied to the whole Favorites Bar. This option showed only the title of bookmarks for everything visible in the bar. There was no option to show only website icons.

To show only the icon of a specific webpage in your Favorites Bar on iPadOS, long-press or tap and hold the bookmark in the bar, tap "Edit," toggle off "Show Title," and hit "Save."

Only the webpage's icon will show. However, if the bookmark gets pushed off into the hidden "More" list (•••), its name will still appear next to a bookmark icon (favicons don't appear in this list).

To bring the name back, long-press or tap and hold the bookmark in the bar, tap "Edit," toggle on "Show Title," and hit "Save."

This was not possible prior to iPadOS 17.4.

If you want to change how the bookmarks and folders look in the Favorites Bar on macOS en masse, right-click or Control-click the Favorites Bar but not a bookmark or folder directly.

To keep the default settings on the Favorites Bar, make sure "Show Icons and Text" is selected. This is also how things appear in the hidden "Show more bookmarks" list. If you choose any of the other options, you won't be able to show or hide titles for individual webpages.

To show only website icons on the Favorites Bar, select "Show Icons Only." Folder names will still appear next to folder icons since you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between them otherwise. And if the webpage's symbol gets pushed to the hidden "Show more bookmarks" list, its name will still appear next to its icon.

To show only text on the Favorites Bar, select "Show Text Only." All website and folder icons will disappear, and only bookmark titles and folder names will remain. Folders will be distinguishable by the chevron symbol next to them.

If the bookmark's or folder's name ends up in the hidden "Show more bookmarks" list, its icon will still appear next to its title.

Your only option before Safari 17.4 was "Show Icons." There was no option to show only website icons.

To change how the bookmarks and folders look in the entire Favorites Bar on iPadOS, go to Settings –> Safari –> Favorites Bar Appearance. The default option is "Show Icons and Text." If you choose any of the other options, you won't be able to show or hide titles for individual webpages.

To show only website icons on the Favorites Bar, select "Show Icons Only." Folder names will still appear next to folder icons since you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between them otherwise. And if the webpage's symbol gets pushed to the hidden "More" list, its name will still appear next to a bookmark icon.

To show only text on the Favorites Bar, select "Show Text Only." All website and folder icons will disappear, and only bookmark titles and folder names will remain. Folders will be distinguishable by the chevron symbol next to them. This text-only setting was available for Safari on iPad before iPadOS 17.4 by disabling the "Show Icons in Favorites Bar" switch in Settings –> Safari.

If the bookmark's or folder's name ends up in the hidden "More" list, a bookmark or folder icon will still appear next to its title.

Since updating 14.5, I can no longer view my favorites or bookmarks always visible in iPadOS Safari. Anyone else having this issue? Is this a known issue Apple is working to resolve?

I just noticed this occurring with my Safari on iPadOS 14.5. I updated yesterday and Safari was fine until a few hours ago. Now I am unable to see my Favorites bar in Safari. I also do not see my favorites listed when I open a new tab or tap in the URL. Have tried restarting and checking my settings. Nothing seems to help so far.

Quick update on a resolution to this. I am thinking the update impacted how bookmarks are handled in Safari on iPadOS. The favorites folder Safari is expecting favorites to be under was different from where my favorites were currently listed. I moved all my bookmarks to the folder Safari wanted and they became visible again on my Favorites Bar. Little annoying, but happy to have everything working normally again.

Best I can tell, it put all of my bookmarks that were previously in my Favorites bar into a folder called “BookmarksBar”. I then had to move all of those back to the ”Favorites” section (only one with a star icon) for them to show up in the bar again. Apparently ”Favorites” is the new “Bookmarks Bar”.

Syncing Microsoft Edge and Safari bookmarks via icloud

With my previous laptop, i could sync my chrome bookmarks on my laptop with the safari bookmarks in my ipad using icloud and choosing 'chrome' in the browser selection in the icloud application in the laptop (there are 3 choices there: internet explorer, Firefox and Chrome). That worked fine.

Now I have a new laptop with Microsoft Edge on it. Suppose I import all the bookmarks from Chrome to Edge, can i now sync the Edge bookmarks with the safari bookmarks on the ipad using icloud in the same way. I am asking because there is no "Edge" entry in the icloud application. What shall i choose (if possible at all..) in this case (IE-?, Firefox-No!, Chrome-No!). Is this doable or shall i stay with chrome on new laptop and safari on ipad ?

It sounds like that you currently need to sync bookmarks to the Microsoft Edge. As Chrome and iClound are not a product of Microsoft, we cannot provide you with more help, but here are some suggestions:

Since there is no option to sync directly to the Edge, it seems like you have to take two steps.Since IE and Edge are the products of Microsoft, you can try to sync IE first and then sync to Edge.And Since Edge and Chrome are the same core, you can try to sync Chrome first and then sync to Edge.

If direct synchronization does not solve the problem, you can try to export bookmarks from other browsers and then import Edge.

This is easily doable, though not necessarily intuitive. Since Microsoft Edge can install Chrome extensions, you simply need to install the iCloud Chrome extension in Edge ( iCloud Bookmarks - Chrome Web Store (google.com) ) and select Chrome in the iCloud application (you might want to remove the extension from your Chrome application in order to prevent conflicts).

I've just used this setup successfully to sync Edge bookmarks with Safari on iOS (iPhone and iPad); it seems the iCloud application accepts the sync instructions from Edge because it is the same engine (Chromium).

Safari iPad Favorites Toolbar Disappeared

i now have a blank row where the Safari iPad Favorites Toolbar used to be.

Favorites are still in the Bookmark list, but the FavorItes Toolbar is an empty row.

SUggestions?

The Favourites toolbar is enabled : Settings > Safari > Show Favourites Bar 'on',

and you have the correct folder selected as your favourites : Settings > Safari > Favourites ?

If you do then try toggling the 'show' option 'off' and 'on'

You've also tried closing Safari via the iPad's taskbar : Force an app to close in iOS - Apple Support

And done a soft-reset (i.e. a reboot) : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content.

Same thing happened to me. I've tried toggling the bar settings, closing out Safari, and doing a soft reset. No success thus far.

Try choosing a different folder as your favourites and see if that folder's bookmarks show in Safari, and then re-select your original favourites folder

I have the same problem, I found out my favorite bar disappears in safari after the IOS 8.2 updgrade.

Here is my solution.

Go to settings->safari-> Do Not Track ->turn it off.

I got my favorite bar back.

I have the same problem. iPad Air iOS 8.4.1 where Favourites tabs should be is blank grey. Show Favourites Bar is 'on'. Favourites folder is correct.

I have tried the following without success:

• Kill Safari & restart
• Toggle Show Favourites Bar 'off'. Open Safari, display adjusts to remove grey strip. Kill Safari. Toggle 'on'. Open Safari, display show grey strip.
• Toggle Do Not Track...no luck
• Change Favourites folder...no luck.
• Confirm Favourites folder works on iPhone.
• Soft reset on iPad.
• Clear webhistory & data

The hunt for a solution continues.

I had the same problem and tried all of the suggestions without success.

What did help in my situation was checking my iCloud settings.

Settings -> iCloud

Turn on Safari in order to sync with your other Apple devices.

Make sure sure the favorites bar is toggled "on".

This should bring your favorites back. Of course this will only work if your other Apple devices are synced as well.

I tried the iCloud suggestion and my slider was set to on but I slide it off and then back on reloaded safari and got access back. Crazy. Now if I could just get Excel to stop crashing!

Yes, looks like you have to deselect the Safari syncing in the iCloud settings and then re-enable to get it working again.

Do you know where the problem is e.g. if you navigate to the folder (via the bookmarks icon) that you have set as your favourites folder does anything show there (the folder isn't empty) ?

Thanks King_Penguin. Yes, when I go there, my favourites from the missing toolbar are there. I've also signed out of iCloud and signed back in, which has helped with other problems in the past, but not this one.

Most browsers offer a private browsing mode that aims to keep the websites you view off the record. But what exactly does it do in Safari and how do you get the best out of it?

First and foremost, Private Browsing keeps the website pages you visit out of your History . The aim is to prevent someone else from seeing which pages you have visited if they have access to your phone or computer.

In Safari, Private Browsing does a lot more than just hide URLs. It also:

• Prevents recent searches from showing up in your history.
• Stops remembering details you enter in forms for autofill.
• Keeps downloaded items from appearing in your Downloads list.
• Locks private tabs after a period of inactivity.
• Adds tracking and fingerprinting protection.

However, it’s important to note that Private Browsing does not stop you from being tracked altogether. Websites you visit will still be able to use various methods to track you, and will still have access to all data that you send them.

On macOS, iOS, and iPadOS, Safari groups private tabs together, and separates them from non-private tabs. On Mac, each Safari window is either private or non-private, and can have as many tabs as you want.

On iPhone, you can switch between private and non-private modes, each of which shows all tabs belonging to that mode.

You can spot when you’re viewing a private tab with these signs:

• The address bar has a dark background. This may be less noticeable if you’re using Dark Mode .
• On Mac, you’ll see a prominent Private indicator in the title bar.
• On iPhone, you’ll see Private alongside the site URL at the bottom of your screen.

The steps to enter Private Browsing mode are nearly identical on an iPhone and iPad. The only difference is that the tab icon is at the bottom of the screen on iOS and the top on iPadOS.

• Long-press the tab icon (two overlapping pages) on the bottom-right (iPhone) or top-right (iPad) of your screen.
• Tap the New Private Tab menu item.
• If locked, enter your passcode to unlock Private Browsing.

You can enter Private Browsing mode on macOS using either a menu item or a keyboard shortcut:

• Open the File menu and choose New Private Window .
• Alternatively, use the keyboard shortcut Shift + Cmd + n .
• Use the browser as you normally would. Any tabs you open from this window will open in the same window, in private mode.

You may want to prevent users of an iPhone or iPad from using Private Browsing mode at all. To do so:

• Open the Settings app.
• Tap on Screen Time .
• Under RESTRICTIONS , click on Content & Privacy Restrictions .
• If not already enabled, press the toggle next to Content & Privacy Restrictions to enable.
• Tap Content Restrictions .
• Change the Web Content setting to Limit Adult Websites .

The option to enter private mode will now be gone.

On macOS, the wording of certain options differs slightly, but the overall process is near-identical to iOS:

• Open System Settings via the Apple menu.
• Click on Screen Time in the left panel.
• Under the Restrictions section, click on Content & Privacy .
• Click Content Restrictions .
• Change the Access to Web Content setting to Limit Adult Websites .

Private Browsing will now be unavailable in Safari, although any existing private windows will stay open.

Of course, anyone can re-enable Private Browsing using the same process, in reverse. However, you can use Screen Time’s Lock Screen Time Settings option to set a passcode and enforce the setting permanently.

How to enable Safari push notifications on iPhone or iPad

iPhone users can add websites to their iOS 17 home screens as progressive web apps, and essentially turn sites into standalone apps. However, there are a few features typically reserved for iOS apps, and one of those is push notifications. If you do want to receive push notifications from a website, there is a workaround in the Settings app that involves flipping a WebKit flag. This gives web apps the ability to send push notifications through Safari, as long as the website natively supports browser notifications. Although Apple announced this functionality in 2022 and shipped it in 2023, it's still considered an experimental feature, so you'll have to follow the steps below to use them.

How to enable push notifications in safari.

If you have a recent iPhone , or an iPad running version 16.4 or later, you can follow the steps below to enable Safari push notifications for specific websites. By doing so, you will receive alerts similar to those of native iOS apps, helping you know when your favorite websites publish timely content.

1. Open the Settings app on iOS 17.

2. Scroll down to the Safari tab, and tap on it.

3. Find the Advanced tab at the bottom of the screen and press it.

4. Tap the Feature Flags tab.

5. You will see a long list of WebKit flags organized in alphabetical order. Look for Notifications and flip the toggle them on.

How to add a website to your iOS Home Screen

After that, you'll need to manually add each website you'd like to receive notifications from to your Home Screen. Here's how:

1. Launch the Safari app and visit the website you'd like to receive push notifications from.

2. Tap on the Share button in the middle of the bottom bar

3. Choose Add to Home Screen .

4. Optionally rename the web app, then tap Add in the top right corner.

5. It will now appear on your Home Screen as a native app. Launch the newly-added web app.

6. Find the website's notifications settings and enable push notifications.

7. iOS will ask for your permission to enable them. Tap Allow to finish.

Now, the web app will be able to notify you as long as you keep it on your Home Screen. If you delete it, then the permission is revoked automatically, and you won't be able to receive alerts from it until you add it again.

Should you use push notifications from websites on iPhone?

As you can see, the process to enable Safari push notifications on iOS and iPadOS is more complex when compared to macOS because you need to add the web app to the Home Screen for it to work. On new Macs , you can just allow or deny website permissions without needing to bookmark them in any way. Regardless, it can be done now on newer versions of iOS 16 or later. It's useful, but be sure to choose wisely which websites you give access to notifications in Safari. If you give permission to the wrong website, your iPhone could quickly be cluttered with spam.

I'm always curious about these Safari Tech Preview posts. Are they just a quick way to add another headline? I suspect so, as I don't see many people trusting these builds as their daily driver. I've tried that in the past, but it never stuck.
