Jane’s Addiction is an American alternative rock band formed in 1985. Formed in Los Angeles, California, Jane’s Addiction was one of the first alternative rock bands to garner mainstream attention.

Formed amidst the rock and roll glamour of the 1980s, Jane’s addiction has released four studio albums since 1988, with the band’s first two albums being certified platinum, and being hailed with extensive positive reviews from critics and fans alike. Before releasing any of their albums, though, Jane’s Addiction built their fan base in bars and clubs around Los Angeles, impressing patrons with their fresh rock sound wherever they went.

Jane’s Addiction has cultivated an extensive cult following, which has continued to grow since the late 80s. This following has ensured that the band’s first and second albums, “Nothing’s Shocking” and “Ritual de lo Habitual”, have both been certified platinum. The band’s most successful album, though, was 2003’s “Strays” which reached the number 4 spot on the US Billboard chart and was a top 30 album in almost every other chart worldwide. The album’s biggest hit single was “Just Because” which went to the number one spot on the US Alternative chart.

Jane’s Addiction has toured extensively across the US and beyond since the close of the 1980s. They are famous for being the first band to headline at Lollapalooza in 1991 with their first farewell tour. Thankfully the band regrouped in 1997 and along with their new material came new tours. Jane’s Addiction is considered to be one of the most influential acts of the alternative rock scene and the band has been named as an influence for Korn, The Smashing Pumpkins, System of a Down and Limp Bizkit, amongst others.

With their own star on the Hollywood walk of fame, there is no way that Jane’s Addiction could now be erased from music history. Nonetheless, even without the physical reminder of their importance, the band’s legacy will live on forever in the music they have inspired.

Live reviews

Jane's Addiction has got to be one of the most iconic alternative bands ever. I would rank them somewhere in the same standing as Blink 182 and Green Day, who probably wouldn't have existed if it weren't for Jane's Addiction.

They have been cranking out solid punk music since the late 80s and haven't stopped yet. Their whiny vocals in the early part of their career made you listen to what they were saying, and most of their lyrics shaped the listener and their mood. I had the opportunity to see them in a recent concert up in New York, and it exceeded any expectations I had. Even though I grew up listening to them, and remember seeing their video for "Been Caught Stealing" over and over again, nothing could compare to the mature version of them rocking it out at Station 5. The audience was jumping, singing, dancing, clapping, even slam dancing to the tunes that were anthems to my youth. The dress code for the concert was non-existent, as was the age requirement.

People from everywhere and every age jammed to the tunes of Jane's Addiction without being self-conscious. I was (and am) proud to have been loyal to the band for nearly 30 years.

Report as inappropriate

Californian rock outfit Jane's Addiction are well known globally and despite having taken numerous breaks during their career, since 2008 they have been noted to be performing stronger and more consistent than ever. It is perhaps due to the confidence they have within their material and the adoration that the fans show for almost every track chosen for the setlist tonight.

The whole show is about those gigantic instrumentals that the group is known for and many of the punchier songs have been adapted to feature more opportunity to show off their musical capabilities. Lead singer Perry Farrell taunts the crowd to give more energy and to be far louder before they begin the hits including 'Three Days' and 'Jane Says'. The audience does not need any encouragement for 'Chip Away' as they raise their hands high in the air and mosh along whilst the band dissect this modern day rock anthem and once again amaze with these impossible guitar riffs and huge bridges whilst the fans take over vocal duties during the chorus. The fans are well and truly addicted to Jane's Addiction.

I have been looking forward to this show for some time. Jane's Addiction live has been a fantasy of mine. Walked into Warfield, one of the best venues ever, with people from all over. The energy from the fans was electric, until Perry Farrell started performing. He seemed oblivious that we, the audience, were present. He seemed perfectly content with himself and his monitor with the lyrics to his songs. Dave Navarro, who is a guilty pleasure of mine, was amazing to listen to, but also seemed to be quite disconnected. Who could blame him, his front man was forgetting lyrics left and right. The dancers looked as though they had just seen the routine 10 minutes before curtain, and many awkward moments followed. I will say the musicians were fantastic. Navarro and Perkins are stellar musicians, and Farrell has such an intoxicating voice, I wish I'd seen them years ago and wish I hadn't attended this concert, so my fantasy could still live in my head of what it would feel like to watch these gods live. Now I know....

The show was amazing. All members were on point. They preformed "Nothing Shocking" in its entirety and did it WELL! I felt like I was fourteen again. They also did live suspensions on stage. Two gorgeous women hanging two stories above the stage only by the hooks imbedded in their flrsh. AWESOME! Not shocking, just perfect. Thank you, Jane's Addiction.

This was a good show and a great place to see a show. I haven't been to this venue before, but I really liked how there was a good line of sight wherever you stood and that getting a drink was easy with all the bars.

Jane's Addiction was great!

Perry, Dave and the rest of the crew always put on one hell of a show.

Living Colour were also great!

Both of those bands I would go see anywhere anytime.

Perry Farrell of Jane's Addiction

Jane’s Addiction have announced details of a UK and European tour, set to kick off next year. Find dates and ticket details below.

The run of live shows will mark the iconic alternative rock band’s first headline dates across the UK and Europe in eight years, and will follow on from their huge tour with Smashing Pumpkins last year.

The 2024 gigs will span across May and June, and launch with a series of UK tour dates. These kick off with two stops at the Roundhouse in London on May 27 and 29, and will be followed by shows in Glasgow (May 31) and Manchester (June 2).

From there, Perry Farrell and co. will embark on their run of shows across Europe – opening with an appearance at the Große Freiheit venue in Hamburg on June 6. Other headline shows in Europe throughout the summer include stops in Cologne, Paris, and Luxembourg, and a series of festival sets are also planned for the summer.

“Tonight the Jane’s camp is over the moon, as we’re finally able to announce UK, European headline, and festival shows. It has been far too long- my Jane’s Addiction family,” said Farrell of the new tour dates. “We can’t wait to see your faces again, (well look at you).. singing songs, and soaring to the moon in a new rocket. Togetherness- roll on 2024!”

Tickets go on sale this Friday (December 8) and 10am local time. Visit here to buy tickets and find a full list of UK and European shows below.

As well as being some of their first shows since their mammoth tour with Smashing Pumpkins last year, the new 2024 tour dates will also be the first run of European shows since Eric Avery rejoined the line-up last August .

The news came as the frontman teased that new music was on the way last year, and the classic line-up was reinstated for the first time since Avery left touring in 2010.

If the new music turns out to be a full LP, it will be their first new music since the 2011 studio album ‘The Great Escape Artist’ . In the 12 years since the album was released, the band have shared a number of live records in recent years, as well as the standalone single ‘Another Soulmate’ in 2013.

Earlier this year, the band debuted a new song called ‘True Love’ during a live show in California.

As well as the headline dates next spring and summer, Jane’s Addiction will officially mark their return to the UK with a headline slot at Bearded Theory festival .

The event’s 15th-anniversary edition is due to take place at Catton Hall in Derbyshire between May 23-26, and the band will appear alongside other acts on the bill including Future Islands , Amyl And The Sniffers , Sleaford Mods , Orbital , Dinosaur Jr (UK-exclusive) and Bob Vylan .

Their first dates here in eight years

Jane’s Addiction have announced a short headline UK tour for May and June 2024.

Singer Perry Farrell enthuses: "Tonight the Jane’s camp is over the moon, as we’re finally able to announce UK, European headline, and festival shows.

“It has been far too long - my Janes Addiction family! We can't wait to see your faces again, (well look at you)... singing songs, and soaring to the moon in a new rocket. Togetherness - roll on 2024!”

2024 European Tour: Jane’s Addiction Tour Dates

' src=

The band Jane’s Addiction has announced their first headline tour of Europe in eight years.

The journey will begin with a run of performances in the United Kingdom in late May, which will include two performances at London’s Roundhouse on May 27 and 29. Hamburg, Cologne, Paris, and Luxembourg will be the next stops on the tour. The group will also play several festivals throughout Europe.

“Tonight the JANE’S camp is over the moon, as we’re finally able to announce U.K., European headline and festival shows,” frontman Perry Farrell of JANE’S ADDICTION said in a statement.

“It has been far too long, my JANE’S ADDICTION family. We can’t wait to see your faces again (well look at you).. singing songs, and soaring to the moon in a new rocket. Togetherness- roll on 2024!”

Tour dates:

May 23-26 – Bearded Theory Festival, UK May 27 – London, UK – Roundhouse May 29 – London, UK – Roundhouse May 31 – Glasgow, UK – Barrowland Jun. 02 – Manchester, UK – O2 Apollo Jun. 06 – Hamburg, Germany – Große Freiheit Jun. 13 – Nova Rock– Austria Jun. 20 – Azkena Rock– Spain Jun. 23 – Pinkpop – Netherlands Jun. 25 – Cologne, Germany – Carlswerk Victoria Jun. 26 – Paris, France – L’Olympia Jun. 28 – Dublin, Ireland – Summer Series at Trinity College Jul. 3 – Luxembourg, Luxembourg – Rockhal

This Friday, December 8, at 10 a.m. local time, tickets go on sale.

A new song called “True Love” by JANE’S ADDICTION was premiered during the band’s March 5 concert in Bakersfield, California.

The song “True Love” was apparently written by Farrell, bassist Eric Avery, and drummer Stephen Perkins with help from touring guitarist Josh Klinghoffer. It is currently unknown if it will be included in the upcoming studio album by JANE’S ADDICTION.

As previously mentioned, Dave Navarro, the guitarist for Jane’s Addiction, is missing the band’s performances because of his ongoing fight with long-term COVID. Klinghoffer, a former member of RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS who also records with Eddie Vedder and plays with PEARL JAM, will take his place at the gigs.

Before the band participated in the South American Lollapalooza festivals, the Farrell-fronted group announced a run of West Coast dates in January. The group had just finished a fall 2022 U.S. tour with SMASHING PUMPKINS.

Because he struggled with extended COVID, Navarro missed the fall 2022 tour. Troy Van Leeuwen of QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE took his place at the shows.

“Spirit On Fire” was the first JANE’S ADDICTION tour with original bassist Avery backstage in over ten years. Before this most recent tour, Avery had only performed briefly with the group in the 2000s before leaving once more in 2010.

It wasn’t simple, according to Farrell, to find Navarro’s temporary replacement in the fall of 2022. “At first, there was a lot of weight on my shoulders,” he said. “This was our return tour right after COVID, and we didn’t have Dave. JANE’S is a unique band, and you can’t just grab any guitar player and they’ll pick it up. That’s Dave Navarro we’re talking about — those are big shoes to fill.”

Farrell was hurt during the tour, so JANE’S ADDICTION had to postpone a few shows, but he still called it “one of the best tours of my life. I just loved at the end of the show seeing how many happy people there were,” he told. “We got to them, and that’s the best feeling in the world.”

The tour, which is scheduled for May through July of next year, will take the venerable American rock group throughout mainland Europe and the UK. It will culminate with a headline show at the Bearded Theory Festival at Derbyshire’s Catton Park.

Following their massive tour with Smashing Pumpkins last year, the run of live performances will be the legendary alternative rock band’s first headline dates throughout the UK and Europe in eight years.

The 2024 performances will begin with a run of tour dates in the UK and run through May and June. These begin on May 27 and 29 with two shows at the Roundhouse in London and then go on to Glasgow on May 31 and Manchester on June 2.

Following that, Perry Farrell and the company will start their tour of Europe, which will begin on June 6 at Hamburg’s Große Freiheit. Several festival sets are also scheduled for the summer, in addition to other headline shows throughout Europe, such as appearances in Cologne, Paris, and Luxembourg.

The new 2024 tour dates will mark not only their first performances since their massive tour with Smashing Pumpkins last year but also their first run of European dates since Eric Avery returned to the lineup in August.

The news was revealed last year when the frontman hinted at new music being released, and the original lineup was reunited for the first time since Avery stopped touring.

It will be their first new music since the 2011 studio album “The Great Escape Artist” if the new material proves to be a full album. The album was released 12 years ago, and in that time the band has released several live albums and the stand-alone single “Another Soulmate” in 2013.

‘True Love,’ a new song by the band, was unveiled live in California earlier this year.

In addition to the spring and summer headline dates, Jane’s Addiction will formally announce their comeback to the UK with a headline performance at the Bearded Theory festival.

This year’s 15th-anniversary edition of the event is scheduled for May 23–26 at Catton Hall in Derbyshire. The band will be performing with Future Islands, Amyl And The Sniffers, Sleaford Mods, Orbital, Dinosaur Jr. (exclusive to the UK), and Bob Vylan.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Announces 2024 Inductees: Cher, Jimmy Buffett, Mary J. Blige, Dave Matthews, Peter Frampton, Foreigner and More

Cher, Jimmy Buffett, Mary J. Blige

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has revealed the names of 16 artists or other musical figures who will be inducted in 2024. It’s a diverse list that stretches from R&B/rock pioneer Big Mama Thornton to pop superstars Cher and Dionne Warwick, and from ’70s-rooted rockers like Peter Frampton, Foreigner and Ozzy Osbourne to ’90s icons the Dave Matthews Band , Mary J. Blige and A Tribe Called Quest.

Popular on Variety

For the first time, the inductees were announced as part of an “American Idol” broadcast, during a Sunday night episode themed around the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Following is the complete list of inductees for 2024:

Performer Category:

  • Mary J. Blige
  • Dave Matthews Band
  • Peter Frampton
  • Kool & The Gang
  • Ozzy Osbourne
  • A Tribe Called Quest

Musical Influence Award:

  • Alexis Korner
  • John Mayall
  • Big Mama Thornton

Musical Excellence Award:

  • Jimmy Buffett
  • Dionne Warwick
  • Norman Whitfield

Ahmet Ertegun Award :

  • Suzanne de Passe

The eight “performer” inductees are the ones selected by a ballot sent out to the Hall’s voters after the 15 nominees were announced on Feb. 10.

That leaves seven nominees from this year who will have to wait for another crack at getting in: Mariah Carey, Jane’s Addiction, Sade, Sinead O’Connor, Oasis, Lenny Kravitz and the duo Eric B. and Rakim.

One question mark now is how Cher will react to her induction. Just last December, in an appearance on “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” she said, “You know what, I wouldn’t be in it now if they gave me a million dollars … I’m never going to change my mind. They can just go you-know-what themselves.” At that point, though, she had never received so much as a nomination, so the odds favor her changing her tune on that vow, now that she got voted in her first time actually appearing on the ballot.

Five out of the eight voted in this year were first-time nominees: Osbourne, Cher, Frampton, Foreigner and Kool & the Gang.

A Tribe Called Quest got in on the hip-hop collective’s third time on the ballot (and their third year in a row being nominated). Blige and Matthews both got in on their second try (she was previously up for it in 2021; DMB had a prior nod in 2020).

Frampton, for his part, beyond the merits of having had one of the biggest albums of all time, may be a sentimental favorite this year, due to his being in the acknowledged twilight of his musical career. He has been out on a farewell tour off and on since 2019, following his diagnosis with the debilitating disease inclusion body myositis in 2015. The rocker just wrapped up the last round of dates he had scheduled, although he has not said there won’t be more.

Osbourne becomes a second-time inductee this year; his group Black Sabbath was voted in all the way back in 2006. Sometimes there is contention over whether singers who are already in the Hall of Fame, as group members, really need to be pushed to the front of the line as solo artists, too, ahead of other contenders. In any case, voters decided that Osbourne’s post-Sabbath career established him as one of rock’s major icons, even apart from his initial round of influence and success as a frontman.

De Passe is getting her flowers for a career that included a long stint as one of the major players at Motown, developing the Jackson 5 into superstars and signing the Commodores, among other triumphs, before becoming a film and TV executive. She was profiled by Variety about her long and wide-ranging career in 2022.

Motown is also being celebrated with the induction of Whitfield, a songwriter and producer whose astonishing catalog of hits in the ’60s and ’70s included “I Heard It Through the Grapevine,” “Just My Imagination,” “Papa Was a Rollin’ Stone,” “War,” “Ball of Confusion,” “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg,” “(I Know) I’m Losing You,” “I Wish It Would Rain,” “I Can’t Get Next to You” and “Car Wash.” He died in 2008.

Coming on under the “musical influences” umbrella, Alexis Korner may be the name among this year’s inductees that is least known to contemporary music fans. He was a major player in the British blues scene of the 1960s and became a popular broadcaster as well; he died in 1984 at age 55. With John Mayall also being selected by the committee for the same honor, it’s an unexpected banner year for British blues-rockers.

AC/DC 's lineup for the "Power Up" European tour, which will kick off in May and run through August, will consist of singer Brian Johnson , guitarists Angus and Stevie Young , drummer Matt Laug and the latest addition to the group's touring lineup, bassist Chris Chaney .

AC/DC 's first show in seven years took place on October 7, 2023 at the Power Trip festival.

AC/DC recruited Laug to perform with the band at the three-day event.

The 56-year-old Laug is an American drummer who has played with many bands/artists such as Alanis Morissette , Alice Cooper , SLASH'S SNAKEPIT and Vasco Rossi . Matt moved to Los Angeles after graduating from South Florence High School in 1986 and after attending college in L.A., Matt became a sought-after studio drummer.

In 2001, Laug supported AC/DC as part of SLASH'S SNAKEPIT on the North American and European legs of the "Stiff Upper Lip" tour.

In its announcement about Laug 's addition to the band's Power Trip lineup, AC/DC offered no explanation for the absence of the band's longtime drummer Phil Rudd , who rejoined AC/DC for the recording of the group's comeback album, "Power Up" , which came out in November 2020.

Rudd was ousted from AC/DC when he was sentenced to eight months of home detention by a New Zealand court in 2015 after pleading guilty to charges of threatening to kill and drug possession. He was replaced on the band's "Rock Or Bust" tour by Chris Slade , who had previously served as AC/DC 's drummer between 1989 and 1994, playing on the album "The Razor's Edge" .

Rudd , who appeared on all but three of AC/DC 's 18 previous studio albums, toured in support of his 2014 solo debut, "Head Job" . It was the release of that album that led indirectly to Rudd 's arrest, with the drummer allegedly so angry at a personal assistant over the way the record was promoted that he threatened to have the man and his daughter killed.

AC/DC postponed the last 10 dates of its spring 2016 North American trek after Johnson was advised to stop playing live or "risk total hearing loss." The band went on to complete the European and North American legs of its "Rock Or Bust" tour with GUNS N' ROSES frontman Axl Rose as a "guest vocalist." At the time, Johnson had been AC/DC 's singer for 36 years, ever since replacing the late Bon Scott in 1980 and making his debut on the classic "Back In Black" album.

To enable him to perform live with AC/DC again, the now-76-year-old Johnson worked with audio expert Stephen Ambrose , who said he could help resolve the singer's hearing problems.

Ambrose , who invented the wireless in-ear monitors that are widely used by touring artists today, claimed to have invented a new type of ear-bud that would allow Johnson to perform without causing further damage to his eardrums. After three years of experimenting and "miniaturizing" the equipment, Johnson previously said the technology could allow him to tour again.

Chaney is best known as the bassist of JANE'S ADDICTION and as a member of Alanis Morissette 's touring and recording band. Chaney was also a member of TAYLOR HAWKINS AND THE COATTAIL RIDERS and CAMP FREDDY , as well as being a prolific and versatile session musician, having played with artists including Joe Cocker , Shakira , Slash and Avril Lavigne to Sara Bareilles , Gavin Degraw , Cher , SHINEDOWN and Celine Dion . Chaney is also a founding member and partner in the all-star supergroup ROYAL MACHINES along with Dave Navarro ( JANE'S ADDICTION ), Mark McGrath ( SUGAR RAY ), Josh Freese ( FOO FIGHTERS ) and Billy Morrison ( BILLY IDOL ).

Bassist Cliff Williams announced his retirement at the end of AC/DC 's 2015-2016 "Rock Or Bust" tour, which also saw Johnson leaving. However, Williams — and Johnson — took part in the recording sessions that resulted in "Power Up" . Both of them were also part of the AC/DC lineup that performed at Power Trip .

During an October 2020 interview with Dean Delray 's "Let There Be Talk" podcast, Cliff was asked if Johnson 's departure from the road was what led to his desire to stop touring. Cliff responded: "It was before then. I spoke to Angus about it initially. I was at a point — and this is at the beginning of the 'Rock Or Bust' tour — that I just felt, for me, it was time to hang it up. I knew that I didn't wanna keep doing these two-year tours, and I didn't wanna hold them back, so I made them aware of the fact that this was gonna be my last go-round. It was a tough tour to finish. God bless Axl for coming in and helping us out, finish it up. He did a great job. And at the end of that, I was definitely — that was it for me. Done — just done. That compounded the whole thing."

According to Williams , he wanted to take part in the recording sessions for "Power Up" as a tribute to Angus 's late brother, founding AC/DC rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young , who died in 2017 from effects of dementia at age 64. Malcolm is credited as a writer on all 12 tracks on "Power Up" .

"If 'Back In Black' has [late AC/DC singer] Bon Scott all over it, for me, 'Power Up' has got Malcolm Young ," Cliff said. "This is for him. And it's the band that we played together with for 40-plus years. And I wanted to do that — I wanted to come back and do that.

"We did some rehearsals earlier [in 2020] before this darn COVID thing popped up, and we had great rehearsals," he continued. "The band was playing really well. So [they asked me], 'Do you wanna do a few shows? 'Sure'. A few shows. We were planning on doing that. Everyone goes home to their respective homes, and bang, we've been here ever since [because of the coronavirus-related shutdown]."

Cliff went on to confirm that his commitment to AC/DC was only for "a few" dates in support of "Power Up" .

"For both [my mental and physical] health," he said. "I definitely have some physical issues, which I won't bore you with the details of. But, yeah, it's tough. I'm very grateful for everything. It's been fantastic. But I just don't wanna do that anymore."

Williams previously revealed that a "terrible" bout with vertigo contributed to his 2016 retirement. He also admitted the return of both Johnson and drummer Phil Rudd convinced him to rejoin the group. "It was like the old band back together," he told Rolling Stone . "It was not like starting over again, but as close to the band that's been together for 40-plus years as we can possibly make it. I didn't want to miss that."

The follow-up to 2014's "Rock Or Bust" , "Power Up" was recorded over a six-week period in August and September 2018 at Warehouse Studios in Vancouver with producer Brendan O'Brien , who also worked 2008's "Black Ice" and "Rock Or Bust" .

The Pretty Reckless to Support AC/DC on 2024 PWR Up European Tour

Taylor Momsen and the Pretty Reckless will support AC/DC on the "Hells Bells" band's upcoming 2024 European tour . The news was announced on Monday morning (March 25) when AC/DC shared a poster for their first Euro swing in eight years, which will feature the "Only Love Can Save Me Now" band serving as the only opener on all 24 dates of the stadium outing slated to kick off on May 17 at Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen, Germany.

"It's f–king AC/DC. That's it," the band says when asked to describe their excitement about hitting the road with the "Dirty Deeds" icons.

AC/DC's first European tour in nearly a decade will find the band playing with a line-up featuring singer Brian Johnson, guitarist Angus Young, rhythm guitarist Stevie Young, drummer Matt Laug and Jane's Addiction bassist Chris Chaney replacing longtime bassist Cliff Williams; Williams retired from the band at the conclusion of their 2016  Rock  or Bust tour, returning to the fold briefly for the 2020  Power Up  album. Johnson was temporarily replaced by Guns ‘N Roses singer Axl Rose in 2016 due to Johnson's battle with hearing loss issues.

The AC/DC tour will hit Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria and Switzerland before touching down at London's Wembley Stadium for a pair of shows on July 3 and 7, then moving on to Germany, Slovakia and Paris and winding down at Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland on August 17. The European tour is the first run of gigs since AC/CD's long-awaited return to the stage at last year's all-star hard rock Power Trip Festival in Indio, California.

The Pretty Reckless to Support AC/DC on 2024 PWR Up European Tour

South Star Music Festival announces inaugural lineup

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. ( WAFF ) - Several big-name musicians will be heading to the Rocket City for the first-ever South Star Music Festival.

Gwen Stefani, Blink-182 and Beck are some of the few artists headlining the festival.

The festival will happen on September 28 and 29 at John Hunt Park in Huntsville. There will be two separate stages and a sports bar for football.

The music festival was announced back in March and the festival’s official name was only released a week ago.

The full list of musicians slated to perform at the festival include: Gwen Stefani, Shinedown, Jane’s Addiction, Jimmy Eat World, TLC, Juvenile, Gin Blossoms, Candlebox, Dexter, Winona Fighter, Blink-182, Beck, Sublime, Goo Goo Dolls, Ludacris, Big Boi, Pete Yorn, Vanessa Carlton, Bully Billy Allen and the Pollies.

Huntsville mayor Tommy Battle is looking forward to hosting a festival of this scale. He said it helps establish Huntsville as a burgeoning destination for live music lovers.

“I am excited by the incredible level of talent set to perform in Huntsville this fall,” Battle said. “We look forward to a successful collaboration with C3 Presents on this inaugural festival and future events that enrich our cultural landscape.”

“Huntsville is getting a lot of attention outside of Huntsville in the music industry because of this event,” Huntsville’s music officer Matt Mandrella said. “We have a lineup that comes into a year one festival. It makes people pick their heads up and say ‘okay Huntsville.’ We’re going to keep that going. I think it’s a great day.”

Mandrella said the event will have amenities including multiple stages, food and drink vendors, and a massive sports bar for fans who don’t want to miss the game.

“This year, and every year to come, it’s safe to say that there will be a significant SEC football game on that Saturday, whether you know the schedules,” he said. “In other markets like at ACL fest, they always have Texas and Oklahoma on. It’s always a really fun atmosphere.”

Mandrella said the park is the perfect size for the event to continue to grow, if successful.

“Lolapalooza, C-3′s largest music festival, sells about 115,000 tickets every single day,” he said. “That park is actually smaller than John Hunt Park. We have a lot of potential to grow our festival, but our goal in year one is 30 to 35,000 people in that park having an awesome time. We feel we have a lineup that can deliver on that experience.”
