  • Getting to Margaret River
  • When to visit

From outdoor adventures and epic surf to top-notch wines and serene beaches, there’s little surprise this small region stands out on the big map.

Margaret River takes the phrase ‘world-class’ to a whole new feat. Bursting with epic experiences and unfathomable landscapes, this truly is the land of luxury. Wander to the sounds of the ocean as gnarly surf breaks and jaw-dropping limestone cliffs meet your eyes. Don’t be surprised if you spot a pro – or a handful of dolphins – riding the waves. Inland lies Margaret River’s premium wine region, home to award-winning wineries perched upon verdant green hills. And further afield are thrills galore, from kayaking to abseiling and the epic Cape to Cape Walk. Not one day is the same in this picture-perfect pocket of Western Australia.

The best way to get to Margaret river is to fly into Perth Airport (PER) and drive 280km (174mi) south to Margaret River. You can also fly directly into Busselton Airport (BQB) from Perth and Melbourne, then drive about 45 minutes to Margaret River.

  • Hire cars are available at Perth and Busselton airports
  • Taxis operate between Busselton Airport and the Margaret River

Public transport is limited in Margaret River, so the best option is hiring a vehicle for your stay or joining a guided tour.

The best time to visit Margaret River is during spring (September to November). The weather is warm enough to enjoy the sunshine, but cool enough to cuddle up by the fire with a glass of wine in hand once the sun goes down.

  • High season: Summer (December to February)
  • Low season: Winter (June to August)
  • Don’t miss: The spring bloom of wildflowers, which peaks around October

margaret river tourist park map

Clean, and good layout for the single room chalet. Came with a queen bed, good working air-conditioning. We had chalet 18 which came with a good parking bay. Staff were friendly, helped with amenities and securing some pong pong rackets for their common area. Good location, 10 min walk or 2 min drive into town, and close to some wineries. The gardens and green surrounds of the chalets are beautiful.

Nice to have a full kitchen to make a homemade dinner. We had a small problem with the stove but the host quickly fixed even though it was after hours.

The one bedroom Chalet was excellent, had everything we needed. Would definitely recommend a start here.

I love the fully equipped kitchen. It was like home. I like the fact that the toilet and bath are separated.

margaret river tourist park map

The room was clean and I liked the cleanliness of the various kitchen utensils/appliances. The location of this Tourist Park is terrific as it is close to the shopping centre and local businesses. I like that there is not too much noise during the night also.

Such a great place to stay. Simple accomodation with everything one needs for a comfortable stay. Spotless chalet, spacious and comfy beds. Great value for money. Staff were super friendly and a great location. A stroll into Margaret River and a good base to explore further afield. Exceeded expectations.

Stayed for 4 nights with my son & dog. Ample space for tent & car, son was occupied with the pool & jumping pillow. Wifi around campsite was good, and showers/toilets clean. Short walk to town for shops, places to eat & coffee. 15 mins drive to beach. Reasonable price ($40 per night, $50 for powered). Perfect spot - would stay again.

Really well kept, friendly staff and a great site overall. Only negative was we couldn’t use the new kitchen and the bathrooms were old.

Great central caravan park which was perfect for exploring the Margaret river. We stayed in both a cabin and an ensuite powered site. Both were good and clean. Kids jumping pillow, playground and pool were awesome for our 3yr old while we used the camp kitchen facilities to cook our meals and eat. Kitchen had an oven which was a treat!! Easy walk into town for coffee and there were some good options over the road too. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
