Forecast for Mallorca

Action-packed trails in the island’s north.

The Serra de Tramuntana stretches across the north-western part of the island. In the past, the tracks through the mountains were used by pilgrims. Today, the pilgrim paths have turned into mountain bike trails. However, if you decide to bike here you should be a confident mountain biker as the tracks are often blocked by boulders. Steep ascents lead through impassable terrain and require a good condition. If you want you can visit the Barranc de Biniaraix, which is considered to be one of the island’s most beautiful canyons.

In the east you can explore the hilly Serra de Llevant. One of the island’s most popular scenic roads runs in-between the jagged coast and the Serra. The hilly region and its bizarre rocks, barren hills and humid areas is ideal for adventurous mountain bike trips. Don’t forget your swimming equipment, because it is almost impossible to resist the beautiful sunny beaches.

A special characteristic of Mallorca’s trails is that some that a few of them ask for tolls as they lead through private terrain. If you don’t want to pay the toll or want to avoid biking through the maze of fences and barriers, you should take an experienced guide with you.

Mountain bike activities in mallorca.

Mountain bike (MTB) or (BTT) is the perfect combination of exercise and fun, and Mallorca has the ideal environment to practice mountain bike at whatever level. We offer the best guided routes all with local guides who know the most fantastic hidden routes in Mallorca. You can find from an initiation route with MTB visiting markets and beaches to a technical descending, all including the option of our picnics.

We rent all kind of bicycles depending on the routes, the activity, your necessities or your preferences; from a rigid frame BTT for an easy route to a MTB with double suspension or full suspension with 27’5” to 29” wheels for more demanding routes. All mountain bikes have normal pedals, automatic clip pedals as shimano SPD, time, etc or without pedals so you can add your own and feel like it’s your personal mtb.

No matter your level or knowledge, in Karakorum Adventure we organize activities for all levels so you can discover Mallorca on two wheels, enjoying the environment, having fun and doing exercise which is healthy and beneficial. Mallorca’s weather is ideal for mountain bike. Anytime of the year is good to enjoy the island. Winters allow you to practice mountain bike every day, in spring and autumn you can enjoy magnificent days with very agreeable temperatures and scenery of a range of colours. Summer days, although very hot, allows us to get to marvelous beaches and bays to swim and refresh ourselves and regain strength after going through a great amount of BTT paths near the coast

3-5 days intermediate mountain bike in Mallorca

Even if this program is an intermediate level, Mallorca’s roads and paths are really demanding not only for mountain bike lovers but also for the more professional bikers. This MTB week tour through the rural east of Malllorca will let us discover secret and hidden paths, which are full of charm and will transport you to the rural side of Mallorca only known by local MTB guides.

Bike-Ballooning.

A very special and complete activity that lasts all day. We will start with a fantastic excursion on mountain bike through off roads paths, tracks and asphalted roads with an incomparable beauty of the rural Eastern area of Mallorca. At midday we will have a mallorcan picnic with local, traditional and fresh products. We will continue to the field where the balloon will be waiting for us to take off to enjoy a wonderful evening trip and to see the roads we have done by bike from a bird’s eye view.

In the summer months of July and August, we adapt the tours to the warmer temperatures. Individual route planning means that there is no fixed tour programme, such as in spring or autumn. Increased drinking breaks and the search for shady spots allow us to optimise our MTB tours in summer. Let's ride together. Join now!

All our tour prices include:

• guiding by professional trained guides speaking English and German in s mall groups with max. 8 riders (check our guiding philosophy here )
• sqlab gear (saddel and grips, pedals only on request)
• helmet if desired (obligatory on tour), backpack, gloves and knee protection ( gform ) if wanted

  What to bring: Please make sure you wear sun cream and take sun cream with you if necessary. Have enough water (we provide 1.5 litres/participant) and be aware that mountain biking at an average temperature of 35°C can be more strenuous than in your usual home environment.

Nach einer kurzen Anfahrt auf Asphalt kommen wir in den Pinienwald vom Playa de Muro in dem wir auf Single Trails direkt zum sensationellen Naturstrand fahren wo sich die Möglichkeit für einen kurzen Bade-Stop im kristallklarem Wasser bietet. Weiter geht's über Single Trails die uns langsam in das Naturschutzgebiet Albufera bringen. Dort angekommen erwartet uns Savannen Feeling und mit etwas Glück können wir Flamingos und Wasserbüffel sehen. Nachdem wir den Albufera Park verlassen haben bietet sich die Option den Singletrail am Puig St Marti mitzufahren, ansonsten geht es direkt zurück zur Station.

Wir starten bei dieser Tour auf 300 Höhenmeter und fahren direkt auf den alten Schotter Feuerwegen 400 Höhenmeter bergauf. Wenn wir die höchste Stelle erreicht haben bringt uns der erste Teil des ersten Downhills in Black Level Terrain, große Felsen und Felsabsätze mit zum Teil steilen Abfahrten sind hier zu bewältigen, der zweite Teil des ersten Downhills bringt uns auf einem Singletrail mit Hawaii-Feeling zurück auf 400 Höhenmeter. Nun müßen erneut 300 Höhenmeter bergauf auf Schotter zurück gelegt werden. Zwischendurch verzaubert uns die Tramuntana mit einem Blick in das Tal von Orient. Der erste Teil des zweiten Downhills ist verblockt und hat viele Kehren, danach erwartet uns im Mittelteil eine sehr schnelle Abfahrt bevor es im letztem Teil nochmal etwas technischer wird. Auf dem Weg zurück nach Bunyola kommen wir an einem urigem Höhlenhaus vorbei und wenn wir zurück in Bunyola sind wartet dort das Cafe Paris mit Bocadillos und den für mich bestem Cortado von Mallorca. Auf dieser Tour ist Protektoren-Pflicht.

Zuerst fahren wir über die Promenade in den Hafen von Alcudia und weiter geht es auf Schotterwegen zum Playa de San Marina dem Haupt-Kite-Spot im Norden von Mallorca, dann fahren wir immer direkt 5 Meter neben dem Meer über die Küstenstraße 8 Km nach Port Pollenca wo wir mit etwas Glück die Canadair Löschflugzeuge beim Starten und Landen auf dem Meer sehen können. Nun wartet der 2,5 Km lange Anstieg zum ersten Aussichtspunkt von Formentor auf uns. Kurzer Stop um die Aussicht zu genießen. Weiter geht es noch 6 Kurven auf Asphalt bergab bevor wir uns ins Gelände gegeben, erstes High Light hier ist der Blick auf den Strand von Formentor. Es folgt dann die Fahrt durch das Natur Paradies der Finca Cala Murta, wobei die Möglichkeit besteht ein Medium Level Trail mit einzubauen, die uns zur Cala Murta bringt. Dort angekommen lädt das unbeschreibliche türkisfarbende Wasser zu einer Abkühlung ein. Von dort aus geht es die ersten 2 Km bergauf und dann folgt eine 2 Km lange Schotterabfahrt zur atemberaubenden Bucht Cala Figuera. Nun haben einen 4 Km langen Weg auf Schotter auf und ab zurück zum Strand von Formentor. Von hier aus haben wir dann den Asphalt Uphill zurück zum ersten Aussichtspunkt vor uns bevor uns dann der lange Asphalt Downhill zurück nach Port Pollenca bringt wo wir einen Kaffee-Stop machen können bevor wir die letzten 10 Ausroll Km zurück zur Station in Angriff nehmen.

Von der Station aus fahren wir immer direkt am Meer über die Promenade vom Playa de Alcudia in den Hafen. Nachdem wir von dort aus 2 Km über Asphalt zum Strand Sa Marina gefahren sind fahren wir weiter über Schotterwege und Singletrails zur Bucht St Joan wo wir Blick auf eine karibische Bucht haben an der wir bei richtigem Wind Wellenreiter beobachten können. Es folgt ein 2 Km langer Uphill auf Asphalt der uns in das Natur-Paradies rund um Coll Baix bringt. Weiter geht es auf Schotterwegen mit einigen Höhenmetern zum Playa de Coll Baix, dort angekommen machen wir eine kurze Pause um einen Blick auf die karibisch anmutende Bucht zu werfen. Der weitere Weg zurück zum Hafen von Bon Aire führt uns über Schotter und Asphalt. Hier besteht die Möglichkeit von einem 3 Meter hohem Cliff einen Sprung in das erfrischende Meer zu wagen. Nach einer Pause in einem naheliegendem mallorquinischem Cafe fahren wir frisch gestärkt zurück zur Station.

Über schöne Nebenstraßen durch die Gärten der Fincas im Naturschutz Gebiet Albufereta rollen wir uns auf dem Weg nach Pollenca langsam ein. Nachdem wir nach 12 Km die schöne alte Stadt Pollenca erreicht haben gibt es dort einiges zu sehen. Nun haben wir nochmal 3 Km auf Asphalt und Schotter bevor wir den Pilgerpfad zum Kloster Lluc erreichen der uns auf einem Schottertrail mit 26 Kehren auf 580 Meter in die Berge der Tramuntana bringt. Ein letzter Schottertrail bergab bringt uns dann direkt in das Kloster wo uns einer der besten Mandelkuchen von Mallorca erwartet. Nach einer längeren Pause fahren wir auf Schotter und Asphalt 150 Höhenmeter bergauf zurück zum Refugi Binifaldo von wo aus es dann nur noch bergab geht. Zuerst über den Pilgerfahrt zurück Richtung Pollenca, wobei sich immer wieder die Option bietet einige technische Short Cuts einzubauen, dann erreichen wir die Einfahrt zum Steineichenwald wo es auf einem Singletrails mit vielen Kehren und Anliegern mit wirklichem Bikepark-Feeling bergab geht. Nachdem wir das letzte etwas verblocktere Stück gemeistert haben fahren wir zurück nach Pollenca wo uns gemütliche Cafes zu einer weiteren Pause einladen bevor wir uns auf die letzten 12 flachen Ausroll Km zurück zur Station begeben. Bei dieser Tour gibt es mehrere Optionen.

Relativ schnell erreichen wir von der Station aus Schotterwege auf denen wir an der unterirdischen versteckten Kirche von St Marti vorbei kommen und hinauf fahren zu unserem Hausberg Puig St Marti, wobei die letzten 2 Km auf Asphalt sind. Auf dann knapp 400 Metern haben wir eine sensationelle Aussicht auf die Bucht von Alcudia. Danach wartet ein 2 Km langer Asphalt Downhill auf uns bevor wir in einen 2 Km langen Single-Trail mit vielen Kurven und viel Flow bergab fahren. Nun geht es auf Schotter und Asphalt zur Bucht St Joan an der wir mit etwas Glück Wellenreiter beobachten können. Ein Uphill von 2 Km Länge wartet nun auf uns den wir auf Asphalt zurücklegen. Und nun wird es ein bißchen technischer wenn wir auf die andere Seite der Halbinsel La Victoria fahren. Nun warten Trails mit zum Teil verblockten Passagen auf uns die direkt am Meer enden. Nachdem wir von einem 3 Meter hohem Cliff eine Abkühlung im Meer genossen haben füllen wir in einem typisch mallorquinischem Cafe unsere Speicher wieder auf und fahren über die Felsplatte von Manresa zurück zur Station.

Zuerst haben wir auf Asphalt 15 Km Anfahrt zum Pilgerpfad nach Lluc. Dort warten 26 Kehren Schotter-Anstieg auf uns und wenn wir das Kloster Lluc erreicht haben müssen wir nochmals 2 Km mit 250 Höhenmeter bewältigen bevor wir auf 860 Meter die höchste Stelle des Tages erreicht haben. Nun geht es acht Km bergab, hauptsächlich auf groben Schotter, zwischendurch haben wir auch ein paar verblockte Stellen, wen wir den unteren Teil des Downhills erreichen kommt durch die Farbe der Canyon Felsen ein bißchen Utah-Feeling auf. In Caimari angekommen müssen wir auf Asphalt 8 Km bergauf zurück zum Kloster Lluc wo eine längere Pause auf uns wartet. Von hier aus fahren wir die letzten 150 Höhenmeter bergauf zum Refugi Binifaldo von wo aus es nur noch bergab geht, breiter Schotterweg, kurze technische Short Cuts und ein Bikepark ähnlicher Singletrail bringen uns zurück in die Ebene wo wir dann 3 Km Weg zurück nach Pollenca haben das mit seinen gemütlichen Cafes zu einem weiteren verdienten Cafe con Leche einlädt bevor wir uns auf die letzten 12 Ausroll Km zurück zur Station begeben.

Diese Tour startet in Palma, wir fahren direkt auf Schotterwegen bergauf und es wird zum Teil richtig steil. Wenn wir die höchste Stelle erreicht haben kommen wir in den ersten Downhill auf breitem Schotterweg bevor wir abbiegen in einen zum Teil verblocktem Singletrail der uns an eine besondere Abfahrt bringt, in dieser von Locals gebauten Abfahrt befinden sich Steilabfahrten, Drops mit bis zum Teil 3 Meter Höhe, kleinere Sprünge und Singletrail-Passagen mit richtig Flow. Diese Tour eignet sich besonders gut dazu an einigen Techniken wie Sprünge, wie fahre ich Steilstücke usw zu arbeiten und ich kann hier sicher auch einige Schnapsschüsse von Euren Heldentaten für Euch machen. Die letzten Km fahren wir auf Asphalt bergab zurück nach Palma wo wir noch einen Cafe con Leche Stop einlegen könne bevor diese Tour endet.

Diese Tour startet in der Stadt Arta, von hieraus fahren wir auf der Pass-Straße Richtung Ermita de Betlem zum Teil bergauf in den Parc Natural, hier angekommen fahren wir auf Schotterwegen hinauf zum 400 hohen Puig de Tudossa, wo wir während des Uphills schon sensationellen Blick auf caribische Buchten haben. Auf dem Puig de Tudossa haben wir einen Ausblick über die Bucht von Alcudia und wir können die Schwester-Insel Menorca sehen. Nach diesen unvergeßlichen Eindrücken geht es kurz auf Asphalt bergab bevor wir auf einem Singletrail bergab zu einem einsamen weißen Strand fahren an dem man einen Bade-Stop einfach nicht ausschlagen kann. Im nächstem Teil der Tour fahren wir immer hoch und runter auf Schotterwegen und es gibt hier mehrere Optionen wie man zurück nach Arta fahren kann. Kurz bevor wir Arta erreichen machen wir einen Stop in dem Restaurant Son Fang wo es mit einer der besten Paellas von Mallorca gibt. Frisch gestärkt haben wir noch einen Km auf Asphalt zurück nach Arta wo unsere Tour endet.

Is the Trans-Siberian Railway expensive?

Before starting on your Trans-Siberian Railway adventure you naturally want to know what the entire trip will cost. Although this sounds like a simple question, it is pretty difficult to answer. The Trans-Siberian Railway price of travel depends on the following factors:

• Which travel class do I want to use? The price for a first class ticket is about three times the price of a 3rd class ticket
• Am I willing to buy the tickets myself and assume responsibility for the organisation of the trip?
• How many stopovers do I want to make? The more breaks, the higher the total price.
• What sort of accommodation do I want? Will it be a luxury hotel or will a hostel dormitory be sufficient?
• What tours and excursions would I like to go on?
• What is the current exchange rate for rubles?

Basically, everything from a luxury to a budget holiday is available. If you buy yourself a 3rd Class nonstop ticket at the counter, a few hundred Euros will cover the price. All you will experience is a week on the Trans-Siberian train and will see nothing of the cities on the way. There is, however, any amount of room for upward expansion. Everyone makes different choices about which aspects they are willing to spend money on. I personally prefer to save money on accommodation and railcar class, visit as many cities and do as many trips as possible. To enable better classification of your travel expenses I have contrasted two typical traveler types. In the third column you can calculate the total cost of your own journey on the Trans-Siberian Railway. Please keep in mind that these are only rough estimations and not exact prices.

The all-in costs seem fairly high at first. However, they cover everything and it is quite a long journey taking four weeks. Many people forget to consider that when looking at the list. We should also deduct the running costs for food and leisure at home. I think most visitors to this page will classify themselves somewhere between the two categories, that is around the € 2,000 – € 2,500 range. When comparing these prices with other travel packages, you get the impression that it is hardly worthwhile travelling individually on the Trans-Siberian Railway. Please keep in mind that most packages last no more than 14 days and you are herded like cattle through the most beautiful locations.

If you spend less time on the Trans-Siberian Railway you will, of course, pay less. I chose this particular travel length because I prefer not to do things by halves. If you fulfill your dream of travelling on the Trans-Siberian Railway, enjoy it and don’t rush things. But it’s up to you, of course. Try playing around with the form a bit to find the appropriate price for your trip.

The State Tretyakov Gallery

The State Tretyakov Gallery (usually being called Tretyakovka) is an art gallery in Moscow, specialized in Russian visual arts and it’s one of the world’s biggest collections. The Gallery is named after Pavel Mikhailovich Tretyakov, Moscow merchant and patron of arts, and it’s been bearing his name with proud and gratitude for over a hundred years. In 1856 Tretyakov started his collection by acquiring two works by Russian artists, "Skirmish with Finnish Smugglers" by V.G. Khudyakov and "The Temptation" by N. G. Schilder.
