3 Easy Ways To Check Travel Ban In Qatar (2024)

Doha Guides Team regularly reviews this article to ensure the content is up-to-date and accurate. The last editorial review and update were on 16 January 2024.

Like all other countries, Qatar imposes travel bans against citizens and residents who are involved in pending criminal cases, financial disputes, or immigration violations. If you are a resident or citizen of Qatar and are planning to travel abroad, it’s important to ensure that you are not under any travel ban imposed by the government.

In this article, we will provide step-by-step guides on how to check travel ban in Qatar using the Metrash mobile app, the Ministry of Interior e-services portal, as well as through the SJC telephone helplines.

By following these steps, you can easily determine if you have any travel bans in place and take the necessary actions to lift the ban if required. In addition, we have also included a guide on how to request removal of travel ban in Qatar.

Understanding Travel Bans

How to check travel ban in qatar on metrash, how to check travel ban in qatar on moi website, how to check travel ban through phone, how to request removal of travel ban in qatar.

A travel ban is a legal restriction imposed on an individual’s ability to leave the country . A travel ban could be in place for a variety of reasons, including:

  • Financial Matters: Instances involving financial cases in Qatar.
  • Unpaid Debts: Situations where there are outstanding debts in Qatar.
  • Absconding: Cases where individuals have absconded.
  • Child Custody Disputes: Involvement in child custody cases.
  • Criminal Involvement: Being linked to a criminal case in Qatar.
  • Ongoing Investigations: Cases where an investigation is currently underway in Qatar.

Travel bans are often put in place to ensure that individuals facing legal or financial issues remain within the country’s jurisdiction until the issues are resolved. It is crucial to check your travel ban status before booking a flight ticket to avoid any inconvenience or legal issues at the airport.

Recently many residents faced travel bans due to violation of Qatar’s mask policy during Covid-19 pandemic. In March 2022, the Supreme Judiciary Council of Qatar has advised citizens and residents to check “circulars of travel ban orders” on the “Metrash 2” app before leaving the country.

Checking your travel ban status in Qatar is a simple process that can be completed online. By following the below steps, you can ensure that you have a hassle-free travel experience and avoid any legal issues at the airport.

Metrash2 is a mobile application that allows users to access various government services and complete transactions online. Here is how you can check the travel ban on Metrash mobile app:

Step 1: Open the Metrash app and login

The first step to check your travel ban status in Qatar is to open the Metrash2 application on your mobile phone. If you haven’t downloaded the application yet, here is our detailed guide on how to install and activate Metrash mobile app .

Once you have downloaded the application, login using your Qatar ID number and password.

Step 2: Click on the person icon on top right

After logging in to the Metrash application, you will see a dashboard with various options. Look for the person icon on the top right corner of the screen and click on it.

Check Travel Ban in Qatar Metrash Step 2

This will take you to a drop-down menu with several options.

Step 3: Select “Travel Ban” from the drop-down menu

From the dropdown menu that appears after clicking the person icon, select the option labeled “Travel Ban.” This is the feature that allows you to inquire about any travel bans associated with your profile.

Check Travel Ban in Qatar Metrash Step 3

Step 4: View the results

After selecting “Travel Ban,” the app will process the information and display the results. If you have no travel bans or circulars against your name, you will see a message that reads “No data found for this search.”

Check Travel Ban in Qatar Metrash Step 4

This means that you do not have any travel bans in place and can proceed with your travel plans.

If you have a travel ban in place, the Metrash application will display the details of the ban. In case you have a travel ban, you should take necessary steps to lift the ban before making any travel plans.

Qatar residents who have access to Ministry of Interior’s (MOI) e-services portal (with smart card) can also check travel ban on the MOI website. Here are the steps:

Step 1: Login to the MOI E-Services portal

Start by accessing the Ministry of Interior’s e-services portal . Use your smart card credentials to log in securely.

Step 2: Select the transaction type

Depending on your role, choose the appropriate transaction type:

  • If you’re the smart card owner, select “Personal.”
  • If you’re an authorized representative, choose the relevant company name.

Step 3: Access “Travel Ban Inquiry”

  • Within the portal, locate and click on the “General Services” section.
  • From the options presented, select “Travel Ban Inquiry.”

Step 4: View the circulars

On the “Travel Ban Inquiry” page, you’ll find the “List of Travel Ban Circulars.”

Here you can view the circulars recorded on your ID number and the commanding entities. In case of no recorded circulars, the system will display a message stating so.

Once you’ve completed your inquiry, make sure to log out of the service.

Apart from the Metrash app and MOI website, individuals can also inquire about travel ban orders using Supreme Judiciary Council’s helpline numbers: 5578 8372, 4459 7769, and 4459 7777 .

Citizens and residents can seek the removal of their Qatar travel ban by submitting a petition through the Al Mahakem E-Services Portal . Al Mahakem is the official website of Qatar’s Supreme Judicial Council.

NOTE: If you are not fluent in Arabic or unsure about the reason for travel ban, it is recommended to seek legal assistance from a lawyer.

Below are the steps to initiate a request for the removal of a Qatar travel ban through a petition. You or your legal representative can apply online for this.

  • Log in to the Al Mahakem E-Services Portal .
  • Enter the activation code that has been sent to your registered phone number.
  • Next, select the appropriate entry type, either “lawyer” or “personal.”
  • Opt for the “Motion Trials Services” category.
  • Within the service options, choose “Request Cancellation of Travel Ban.”
  • Fill in all the necessary details, including applicant information, case details and number, application particulars, attached documents, and your signature.
  • Complete the process by submitting your cancellation request.
  • If required, proceed to complete the payment on “Electronic Payments”.

It is important to note that you can only request the removal of a travel ban if the charges against you have been settled or revoked . If there is an active violation or case in place, this appeal may not be effective.

By following the steps outlined in this guide and using the official channels, you can ensure a smoother travel experience. Remember, accurate information is key to a successful inquiry, and staying informed helps you make well-informed decisions.

Pakistan repays $1 billion in Eurobonds, says central bank

Business banking & insurance.

The bond, launched in 2014 and repaid on Friday, was maturing this month

Stock - IMF

Islamabad: Pakistan's central bank has repaid $1 billion in Eurobonds, it said on Saturday, a scheduled payment ahead of the South Asian nation seeking a long-term bailout from the International Monetary Fund.

The bond, launched in 2014 and repaid on Friday, was maturing this month.

"The payment was made to the agent bank for onward distribution to the bond holders," the central bank said in a statement.

Islamabad has been struggling with a balance of payments crisis, record inflation and steep currency devaluation since an IMF standby arrangement averted a sovereign default.

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb is due to leave on Sunday for Washington to attend the IMF-World Bank spring meeting, where he will start negotiations for Pakistan's 24th long-term IMF bailout.

Aurangzeb briefed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif about the new IMF programme on Friday, the government said in a statement.

The IMF standby arrangement of $3 billion Islamabad secured last summer expired on Thursday. Its final tranche of $1.1 billion is expected to be released after the multilateral lender's board meets later this month.

The two sides have spoken in recent weeks about negotiating the longer-term bailout to continue with necessary policy reforms to rein in deficits, build up reserves and manage soaring debt servicing.

Pakistan is in discussions with the IMF for a potential follow-up programme, the IMF chief Kristalina Georgieva said on Thursday.

Middle East latest: Iranian commandos hijack Israel-linked cargo ship by helicopter - Israel vows 'consequences'

Iranian forces have seized an Israel-linked cargo ship with 25 crew members on board, steering it towards Iran. Israel has vowed there will be "consequences" for the hijacking, and demanded the EU sanction Iran and deem its Revolutionary Guards terrorists.

  • Live reporting by Jess Sharp

Canada has warned its citizens to avoid all travelling to Israel, Gaza and the West Bank.

The country has upgraded its risk assessment of the region due to the increased threat of attacks on Israeli territory.

Foreign Minister Melanie Joly posted a statement on X, saying Canadians already in the area should consider leaving by commercial means.

"With a heightened risk of attacks on Israeli territory, the regional security situation remains highly volatile and could escalate without notice," she warned.

The federal government had previously advised Canadians to avoid non-essential travel to the region.

A British-Palestinian surgeon who volunteered in Gaza hospitals during the first weeks of the war said he was denied entry into Germany for the duration of a pro-Palestinian conference this weekend.

Dr Ghassan Abu Sitta was due to take part in the conference, but when he arrived at Berlin airport yesterday, he was held for several hours and then told he had to return to the UK, he said.

Police at the airport refused entry due to "the safety of the people at the conference and public order," Mr Abu Sitta told the AP.

The gathering, entitled the Palestine Congress, was to discuss a range of topics including German arms shipments to Israel and solidarity with what organisers called the Palestinian struggle.

Police at Berlin airport could not immediately be reached for comment.

Mr Abu Sitta has worked during multiple conflicts in the Palestinian territories, beginning in the late 1980s during the first Palestinian uprising.

He has also worked in other conflict zones, including in Iraq, Syria and Yemen.

He spent 44 days in Gaza hospitals as a volunteer for Doctors Without Borders.

Protestors have been demonstrating outside the US embassy office in Tel Aviv.

People held placards and stopped traffic during as they called for a deal to release Israeli hostages held in Gaza.

Levels of protest against Benjamin Netanyahu's approach to the war have been steadily increasing in Israel.

Footage shows a barrage of rockets fired toward northern Israel last night.

The IDF said Hezbollah launched approximately 40 rockets into the north of the country.

While some of the rockets were intercepted, others fell in open areas and sirens were sounded to warn of falling shrapnel.

There were no injuries reported during the attack, the IDF said.

Hezbollah - an Iran-backed militant group based in Lebanon - has regularly exchanged fire with Israel since the 7 October attacks.

Israel's "blatant" provocation of Iran means a response was expected, says Yoss Mekelberg, associate fellow at Chatham House's Middle East and North Africa programme.

But the seizure of a commercial ship in the Strait of Hormuz was "not exactly the response we expected, it is a relatively minor one," he said.

Iran either felt that it had to do something but did not wish to escalate the situation, or this is the "first among other acts".

Mr Mekelberg said it was difficult to know what Benjamin Netanyahu's priorities were, having lost much of the support of the international community in Gaza and now "provoking [Iran] to react".

Iran blames an attack on its consulate in Syria that killed senior commanders on Israel - Israel has not said it was responsible.

"It was so blatant there is an expectation... for a response, the question is what kind of response," said Mr Mekelberg.

A total of 33,686 Palestinians have been killed in Israel's military offensive so far, the Hamas-led health ministry has said.

A further 76,309 people have been wounded, it added.

There have been 52 Palestinians killed and 95 injured in the last 24 hours, it said in a statement.

The ministry does not differentiate between civilian and militant deaths.

While some Israeli officials have sought to cast doubt on fatality figures given out by the Palestinian Health Authority in Gaza, a number of independent groups say they have proved to be largely reliable and broadly in line with those later produced by the UN and Israel itself.

Examination of data from previous Gaza conflicts - the health ministry's counts compared with the post-war United Nations analysis - shows that the initial data is largely accurate with, at most, a 10-12% discrepancy.

The Netherlands will close its embassy in Tehran tomorrow as a precaution, the Dutch foreign ministry has said.

It cited rising tensions between Iran and Israel.

The ministry added that it would decide on Sunday whether the embassy would reopen on Monday.

By  Alex Rossi , international correspondent

This was no act of maritime piracy and it was not meant to be. It was a warning from a major state which would have been sanctioned at the highest levels in Tehran.

In daylight, commandos from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps board and takeover a ship in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.

Huge amounts of oil and gas pass through the waterway everyday - if it was closed, it would have huge ramifications for global trade. In short, it would cause chaos.

Why have the Iranians done this? Well, timing is everything.

The ship, the MSC Aries, is Portuguese-flagged but it is linked to Zodiac Maritime, which is part of Israeli billionaire's Eyal Ofer's portfolio.

Tensions between Israel and Iran are extraordinarily high - US intelligence claims an Iranian missile attack on Israel as retaliation for the Damascus consulate strike is imminent.

The taking of the ship is unlikely to draw a military response from the IDF but it sends signals.

It is a provocation to Jerusalem but it's also a message to Israel's allies that Iran can cause mayhem by closing the Strait of Hormuz.

In that sense it is a projection of Iranian power and a warning that standing with Israel can bring consequences.

Earlier this morning, an Israeli human rights group said dozens of settlers stormed a Palestinian village in the occupied West Bank, shooting and setting fire to cars and houses.

Settlers entered the village of al-Mughayyir in search of a missing 14-year-old Israeli boy, according to rights group Yesh Din, before killing a man and wounding 25 others.

The Israeli army has now said the body of the Israeli boy has been found.

Binyamin Achimair was killed in a "terrorist attack", the IDF said.

"Security forces are continuing the pursuit after those suspected of carrying out the attack," the army said.

Footage shows Iranian Revolutionary Guards commandos seizing a Portuguese-flagged commercial ship linked to Israel.

A helicopter used by the Guards to board the vessel can be seen hovering above the containers.

The attack appeared to use similar methods to the Houthis in November, when the group stormed the Galaxy Leader in the southern Red Sea.
