If you only have 24 hours or less in Dallas you will have one busy day. Sleeping in and calling room service is not an option. The city is home art-filled plazas, presidential memorials, and incredible museums where you can take in various art and cultures.

Since Dallas is so large, it’s hard to see most of it in just one day. If you’re fixing to see the whole city and as many of its neighborhoods as possible, there are all kinds of ways to do it, from Segways to tour buses (you can even tour the best bars in town on a party bike), which I highlight at the end.

However, my recommended Dallas itinerary will mostly focus on an easy-to-follow self-guided walking tour.

Where to Stay in Dallas

First, let’s discuss where you should base yourself while in Dallas.

A lot of thing things to do that you’ll find on this One Day in Dallas itinerary are located in the West End Historical District in downtown Dallas. Therefore, I recommend staying the night there.

And if you’re driving and just doing a day trip to Dallas from elsewhere, find a good spot in the West End to park your car and then explore on foot!

Hyatt Regency: Located right by the Reunion Tower (where I recommend you end your day at sunset), it makes it easy to finish up the sightseeing portion of your 24 hours in Dallas and quickly head to your room to change for dinner and drinks.

Aloft Dallas: A budget-friendly option in downtown Dallas that is located right across the street from Pioneer Plaza, which you’ll see in itinerary below is where I recommend you start your day in Dallas.

Omni Dallas: Located in between Reunion Tower and Pioneer Plaza, you’ll be in a great spot for starting and ending your sightseeing journey in Dallas. Morning in Dallas: Spend it in the West End Historical District

Now here is my recommended itinerary for the top things to do in Dallas if you have just 24 hours to spend there.

As I mentioned above, I recommend starting your day and spending most of your time in the West End Historical District of Dallas. Get up early and be ready for a cultural and history-filled day in this vibrant and interesting section of Dallas.

These morning sights are easy to be walked between as you can see from this map. Also, zoom out and you can see in the bottom left where the Reunion Tower is located, which I where I recommend you end your day before dinner and the nightlife portion of your 24 hours in Dallas.

Cattle Drive Sculptures

Wake up early and beat the crowds by starting your day at Pioneer Plaza in the West End where you’ll get to see an impressive work of art called the Cattle Drive Sculptures.

The larger than life Cattle Drive Sculptures consist of three cowboys and a herd of cattle…running right through Pioneer Plaza in Downtown Dallas! It’s definitely a cool sight to behold and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Dallas, making it a fun way to start your day in Dallas.

Dealey Plaza and the Grassy Knolls

Dealey Plaza is known for two things: being the “birthplace of Dallas” and being the site of JFK’s assassination in 1963.

Dealey Plaza is referred to as the birthplace of Dallas because it where the first home and trading post in Dallas was built.

To see the exact site of JFK’s assassination, head to the Grassy Knolls part of Dealey Plaza.

The Sixth Floor Museum

One of the most defining moments in American History happened when John F. Kennedy was shot by Lee Harvey Oswald. The tragedy sparked a never-ending slew of conspiracy theories and dogged pursuit of the truth by investigative minds for over half a century.

At the Sixth Floor Museum, you can discover more about the assassination and even take a tour that includes a guided trip down to the Grassy Knolls and the JFK Memorial.

John F. Kennedy Memorial

Just one block from Dealey Plaza is the John F. Kennedy Memorial, which was dedicated in 1970. Even if you don’t do the above mentioned tour, it’s worth going here on your own after you tour the Sixth Floor Museum.

The memorial consists of square blocks made of cement that you can walk among. In the middle is a large plaque with Kennedy’s name on it.

Separate the facts, stories and theories behind that pivotal day in 1963

Join this JFK Assassination and Museum Tour with Lee Harvey Oswald Rooming House and put evetything in a right place.Visit both the Grassy Knoll in Dealey Plaza and the John F. Old Red Museum of Dallas County History and Culture

The Old Red Museum is located in a gorgeous red-hued building that was built in 1892 and once served as the courthouse (aptly named the Old Red Courthouse). The building is designed in the Richardsonian Romanesque style.

After you’re done appreciating the architecture of the building, head inside the museum to learn more about Dallas’s past and how it has impacted the culture and vibe of Dallas today. You’ll see some of Dallas’s most prized artifacts, and families will enjoy the interactive features of many of the exhibits.

Afternoon in Dallas: Culture and Art

After lunch, I recommend spending your time at one of the below listed places. If you have just one day in Dallas, it will be hard to do more than one or two, but that gives you a reason to return to Dallas one day!

The Dallas Arboretum

While in Dallas, you should take some time to experience the differences in the sights and sounds at the beautiful Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens.

Get an education on history, nature, art, and horticulture all in one with a visit to this world-famous destination.

Dallas Museum of Art

Five millennia and over 25,000 pieces span this impressive open-access museum in Dallas. After nearly 120 years of collecting, the DMA is one of the ten largest art museums nationwide. If you love art, this is the place to head so make sure it’s on your Dallas itinerary.

The best view of Dallas is from the indoor and outdoor observation decks of Reunion Tower. The geosphere at the top of the tower provides a sweeping 360-degree view. You’ll see for miles in any direction.

The Reunion Tower is a great place to go for sunset viewing before getting ready for your night on the town.

Dinner and Drinks in Dallas

By finishing off the sightseeing part of your day in Dallas at Reunion Tower, you’re also finishing up back in the West End. After you get your sunset pics, head to one of the many restaurants located in the West End for some delicious Texan cuisine.

Getting out of town can be the best way to spend a day, and past those highways, it's all scenery. Try out these off-the-beaten path options for some of the best scenic drives near Dallas-Fort Worth.

Distance: 35 miles from downtown Dallas

A photographer's dream, April is ideal for the schlep from south Dallas down the Texas Bluebonnet Trail, but I45 and nearby country roads offer beautiful scenery and access to sparkling reservoirs year round. Take a driving tour of more than 40 miles of blue-blanketed trails during the Bluebonnet Trails Festival April 21 and 22. The official celebration dedicated to the beauty and symbolism of the bluebonnet brings live music, bluebonnet art and souvenirs.

Distance: 17 miles from downtown Dallas Price: $5 per day, per person 13 and older Hours: Sun to Mon – 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

This stint of 1382 winds and flows all the way to Cedar Hill State Park, where the trees are thick and the hikes are refreshing. Outdoorsy types will enjoy the foliage, walking trails, camping and even water sports as much as the postcard snapshots along the way. Although this stretch of 1382 is only about 10 miles in distance, it is filled with Texas terrain including winding roads, green grassy knolls and trees spotting the landscape. At the intersection with I-20 going east, a large Texas is nestled on a hill, giving the bluebonnet fields a little competition for seasonal photo opportunities.

Distance: 38 miles from Fort Worth Hours: 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Driving through downtown Granbury's historic square is a scenic road trip in itself. The route is filled with historical markers, boutiques and shops, and eye candy from the past. Cruising speed is the best way to take in the sights from a rolled down window. Down U.S. 377S, enjoy the view of the plains, green fields and Americana on the path to the countryside. Make this scenic trip for a taste of old town Texas. The Historic Granbury Gunslingers bring the wild West back to the streets when they reenact western-style gun battles in the town square, so bring the cowboy hats and the cameras and be ready for a fight.

Denton, known for live music and Texas Women's University, is home to an equine community as well. Denton County pastures feed several farms full of majestic horses of various breeds. Denton County horse tours will take guests to these farms to learn more about the horses and how they are raised. White picket fences, barbed wire and ranch houses with magazine-beautiful lawns stretch across the country roads. Spring is usually the best time to make this drive because the foals will be out and in view, romping about near their mothers. Self-guided driving tours are also an option here around horse country on U.S. 377. From car to horseback to car, this scenic option brings drivers full circle.

Although most scenic drives are found outside city limits, Swiss Avenue is the exception. Enjoyable as both a walking tour or a driving self-tour, either way voyeurs and those who appreciate architecture and Victorian style will find plenty to gaze upon. Green grass on manicured lawns, vintage roofs and colorful, festive decor make this a great city drive. The properties along these Swiss Avenue and Wilson blocks date back to the earlier days of Dallas from 1880 to about 1910. Most of these homes have now been adopted by the Preservation Society and are serving as elegant offices to local businesses. A friendly and fun area, this is the best city drive within Dallas.

Epic Texas Hill Country Road Trip – A Complete Guide and Itinerary

Fancy a road trip? The Texas Hill Country has your answer. My Texas Hill Country road trip has a little something for everyone. Whether you want to jump into swimming holes, taste fine wines, craft beer, and spirits, or hike at beautiful State Parks – my guide has everything you need to know for an epic Texas Hill Country road trip.

The Texas Hill Country is vast. You can spend a full week in the region and only just scratch the surface. So, if you only have four days, use my guide at your leisure to find what works best for you. Choose from the many fun things to do in the Texas Hill Country and create your epic road trip.

Best Time to Take a Texas Hill Country Road Trip

The best time to take a Texas Hill Country Rod Trip is during the spring and the fall because the weather is perfect! Moreover, springtime brings beautiful wildflowers and bluebonnets along the road for a scenic drive. Surprisingly, you can also find a little fall foliage in the Texas Hill Country.

During the summer, Texas is very hot! However, the summertime is also a great time for a Texas Hill Country road trip because you can cool off in one of many swimming holes.

Texas Hill Country Road Trip Itinerary

As a born and raised Texan, the Texas Hill Country is all about the smaller cities, State Parks, craft breweries, distilleries, wineries, and hidden gems that make this region special. This is why I will be focusing on all of the above in my Texas Hill Country road trip itinerary.

This 4-day Texas Hill Country road trip itinerary includes: chasing four waterfalls, hiking at three State Parks, exploring a cavern, swimming in natural pools, drinking wine, craft beer, and spirits, and more.

The most central location for this itinerary is Marble Falls. So I recommend finding a hotel in this city as your Texas Hill Country hub. Another fun option is to stay in an epic treehouse in the Texas Hill Country .

On the third day, I recommend checking out of your Marble Falls hotel and checking into a hotel in Fredericksburg. That way you can wake up and easily begin your day of wine-hopping in Fredericksburg!

Please remember to book and reserve your tickets for all of the parks and places below ahead of time.

Texas Hill Country Road Trip – Day 1

Colorado bend state park.

Colorado Bend State Park is well known for its beautiful 70-foot Gorman Falls – a true Texas hidden gem. People travel near and far just to hike to this waterfall.

Ideally, you want to save two hours to complete this hike and admire its rewarding scenery. The 3-mile hike to Gorman Falls is considered moderate because of the steep and slippery descent at the end of the trail. However, a majority of the hike is fairly easy because the trail is flat in a desert-esque setting.

Please note, due to the fragile ecosystem surrounding Gorman Falls, you will have to admire the waterfall from a distance. Nevertheless, it is an awe-aspiring waterfall that you would never imagine existed in the middle of the hill country.

I suggest taking your time in this majestic landscape with a small picnic lunch while admiring the landscape.

Longhorn Cavern State Park

After a long hike in the heat, cool off inside one of the most spectacular and cool (no pun intended) caves at Longhorn Cavern State Park. I have visited several caves in Texas and around the world – this cave is by far the BEST. No wonder why it is named the National Cave of Texas. Be prepared to be amazed and feel like you are on the set of an Indiana Jones movie.

Longhorn Cavern State Park has two different tours for guests to enjoy – a cavern walking tour and a wild cave tour. The cavern walking tour takes guests on an incredible 90-minute journey through several “rooms” of different geological features. Whereas, the wild cave tour takes guests on a 3-hour adventure deeper into the cavern by using special equipment to crawl through undeveloped areas.

Estimated driving time: Colorado Bend State Park → Longhorn Cavern State Park → Marble Falls = 1 hour and 36 minutes

If you have more time:  Inks Lake State Park is another wonderful Texas State Park just a few minutes from Longhorn Cavern State Park.

Texas Hill Country Road Trip – Day 2

Krause springs.

Start your day fresh by making a big splash at Krause Springs’ crisp natural pool. I mean this literally because there is an epic rope swing! Additionally, it’s also advised to arrive early because as the day progresses it gets very busy here.

Krause Springs is a wonderful natural wonderland for several reasons. There is a beautiful butterfly garden, at least 32 springs that feed into a manmade pool, and a natural pool with a waterfall. The manmade pool is best-suited for families with young children, whereas the natural pool is more for advanced swimmers.

As you can see, there are so many fun things to do at Krause Springs, and it’s the perfect destination for all ages.

Iron Wolf Ranch & Distillery

Iron Wolf Ranch & Distillery is one of the best distilleries in the Texas Hill Countrybecause it has several different types of crafted spirits. From vodka, gin, rum, bourbon, or whiskey – Iron Wolf Ranch & Distillery has a drink for everyone.

Guests can enjoy a tasting tour which includes ALL of the spirits, order specialty made cocktails or both!

Iron Wolf Ranch & Distillery is a great stop during a Texas Hill Country road trip because it’s family-friendly. As the name states, the property both a ranch AND a distillery. The ranch has a kid’s playground, Bocce ball, corn hole, washers, life-size “Bourbon Pong”, 9 hole PDGA disc golf course, fire pits, scenic hill country views, food trucks on-site, and a stage for live music.

So though you might visit for the crafted spirits, you will stay for the fun atmosphere.

Pedernales Falls State Park

Pedernales Falls State Park is another great place to swim and hike in the Texas Hill Country. The Pedernales River runs throughout the park cascading over slabs of limestone creating several little waterfalls and wading pools.

Visitors can enjoy scenic hiking trails throughout the park, but the one you cannot miss is the Pedernales Falls Trail. This trail will take you to one of the most beautiful overlooks of the river. One glance and you will quickly know why this park is named Pedernales Falls State Park.

After you break a sweat from your hike, cool off by swimming, wading, or tubing in the river at designated areas within the park.

Estimated driving time: Marble Falls → Krause Springs → Iron Wolf Ranch & Distillery → Pedernales State Park → Marble Falls = 1 hour and 48 minutes

Texas Hill Country Road Trip – Day 3

Hamilton pool preserve.

Hamilton Pool Preserve is a Texas oasis. It is one of the best things to do in Dripping Springs and a popular destination in the Texas Hill Country. Rightfully so, it is a true natural wonderland.

Your adventure at Hamilton Pool Preserve begins with a quarter-mile hike on a narrow trail before arriving at paradise. Then you will feast your eyes upon a beautiful 50-foot waterfall plunging into a natural pool surrounded by a box canyon.

After you soak in the majestic waterfall and scenic views, swim in the crisp pool or enjoy a picnic. Please note, swimming at the pool is not always guaranteed!

Reservations are required to visit Hamilton Pool Reserve and they fill up quickly. So I highly recommend booking your reservation at Hamilton Pool Preserve as soon as possible. There are two time slots available per day – morning (9:00 am – 12:30 pm) and afternoon (2:00 pm – 5:30 pm).

Westcave Outdoor Discovery Center

Westcave Outdoor Discovery Center is a beautiful 76-acre preserve with both lush greenery and a savannah landscape. One step on this preserve and you will feel transported to another part of the world.

Guests can enjoy two different guided tours at Westcave Outdoor Discovery Center – the Uplands Trail or a Walk Through the Grotto. Both tours are wonderful and offer a unique experience.

The Uplands Trail is an opportunity to walk through a savannah landscape with wildlife sightings, bird watching, and expansive views of the Texas Hill Country. A Walk Through the Grotto is the most popular tour and provides guests with a breathtaking journey. A guide takes you through a  sheltered canyon to find a beautiful waterfall with a grotto pool below it. 

Jester King Brewery

Finish your day at one of the BEST breweries in Texas, Jester King Brewery. I recommend visiting Jester King Brewery before sunset, so you can enjoy a glass of beer with a delicious slice of pizza and gorgeous views.

Jester King Brewery sits on 165 acres of property, which includes craft beer production, nature trails, a farm, a restaurant, accommodations, an event hall, Texas Hill Country views, outdoor seating, and more. Needless to say, you might visit Jester King Brewery for the craft beer, but you will find yourself staying for much more.

So let’s talk beer. Jester King Brewery is by far one of the coolest craft breweries you will ever visit. They produce several different types of beer – culture IPAs, lagers, stouts, and spon. The beers are fermented in stainless steel tanks or oak barrels and are all mixed with a culture of native yeast and bacteria. Moreover, the spon beers are inspired by Belgian lambic beers and are 100% spontaneously fermented.

Every beer produced at Jester King Brewery is unique. In fact, they have some of the craziest flavor combinations you could ever imagine, but they all work beautifully! Moreover, the master brewers are always working on something new. So the beer menu is always changing. What you find one weekend may not be there the next weekend.

Jester King Brewery is also one of the best kid-friendly breweries in Dripping Springs . Kids can explore the cool wooden fort, play in the open-fields, and hang out with the farm goats.

Estimated driving time: Marble Falls → Hamilton Pool Preserve → Westcave Outdoor Discovery Center → Jester King Brewery → Fredericksburg = 2 hours and 14 minutes

Texas Hill Country Road Trip – Day 4

On the last day, it is time to “wine” down by visiting some of the best wineries in Fredericksburg . Fredericksburg, Texas is the epicenter of the Texas Wine Country and the second-largest wine region in the nation! As one of the fastest wine regions in the nation, it is certainly a destination you cannot miss during your Texas Hill Country road trip.

When you wine-hop in Fredericksburg, you can do a self-guided tour by driving yourself or book a wine shuttle . A self-guided experience will allow you to pick and choose wineries you want to visit, whereas a wine shuttle has a route with specific winery stops.

With over 50 wineries in Fredericksburg, it is hard to choose a handful to visit for one day. So I will share my favorite wineries and offer a variety of options for every palate.

Fiesta Winery

Fiesta Winery is one of my all-time favorite wineries in Fredericksburg. This fun winery has a lively atmosphere with live music and plenty of shaded outdoor seating. It is the perfect place to casually enjoy a full bottle of wine with family and friends.

Fiesta Winery is known for its sweet red and white wines, but also produce fantastic dry reds and whites, rose, sparkling, and dessert wines. 

My Favorite Wines:  Skinny Dippin (absolute favorite!), Back Porch Sittin’, and Savannah Rose.

Grape Creek Winery

Grape Creek Winery is the first winery in Fredericksburg, Texas. It is also one of the largest with over 100 acres of land. Guests can enjoy a grand tour of the winery on the tram which also includes a wine tasting.

Moreover, Grape Creek Winery is one of the most beautiful wineries in Texas. When you enter the estate, you will immediately feel like you have left the Texas Hill Country and escaped to Tuscany, Italy.

My Favorite Wines:  Cuvee Blanc, Rose of Malbec, Cabernet Blanc, and Grand Rouge.

The Wine Garage

If you love cars or have a man on this Texas Hill Country road trip, then this winery might be perfect. The Wine Garage is Texas’ best-kept secret because it is not only a winery but a classic car collection too.

So instead of sipping wine with outdoor views, you can sip wine next to a blue 1955 Ford Thunderbird or a yellow 1972 Volkswagon Van. Moreover, you can enjoy a guided tour inside the classic car collection with a progressive wine tasting. Throughout the tour, a guide will pair a glass of wine with a specific car, while also providing its history and significance. How cool is that?!?

My Favorite Wines:  Rat Rod Rust Bucket Red, Apache Pick up Orange Mimosa, and Orange Muscat.

Estimated driving time: depends on how many wineries you visit!

Planning to drive in D-FW during the total solar eclipse on April 8? Here’s what to know

An influx of visitors will bring increased traffic, so be prepared for delays..

Although the weather forecast is bringing uncertainty about viewing conditions, the Texas Department of Transportation predicted last week that as many as one million people could visit the state for the total solar eclipse April 8. More than 480 miles in Texas are within the path of totality, which could bring heavy traffic “before, during and after the event.”

“Texas is a prime spot for viewing the eclipse, not just because of the path but also because of our beautiful state,” TxDOT spokesperson Tony Hartzel said.

Get settled at your viewing destination before the eclipse starts

If you’re heading to a local spot that’s in the path of totality to view the eclipse, try to get there well before it begins. Totality will be visible in Dallas and Fort Worth at 1:40 p.m. and last 1-5 minutes. If you’re on the road when the sky goes dark, keep your headlights on and don’t drive while wearing eclipse glasses.

Keep your sun visor down while driving, Dallas public safety officials caution. Also stay vigilant of pedestrians gazing at the sky instead of watching out for vehicles. It’s also a good idea to keep extra distance between your vehicle and others since drivers distracted by the eclipse could stop suddenly.

Electronic message boards will direct motorists not to stop on the highway to view the eclipse or park on the shoulder. Trying to drive and view the eclipse is just as dangerous as other forms of distracted driving — so avoid it by planning ahead.

Expect more public safety officials, at least in some places

Local law enforcement agencies plan to have officers on standby to help deal with the influx of people out on eclipse day.

“Not only is there coordination between the different divisions within our department, including patrol and specialty units, but also with other law enforcement agencies and city departments,” a Dallas Police Department spokesperson said in a statement. “The public should expect a police presence on our roadways, and across the city, the day of the event.”

Kaufman County officials declared a state of emergency ahead of April 8, predicting that 200,000 eclipse viewers could cause traffic jams and tax public safety agencies. Bell, Kerr, and Travis counties have also issued emergency declarations, while Hillsboro — so-called “Eclipsboro” could see tens of thousands of visitors.

Not every city in the path of totality is expecting traffic to cause major disruptions on the day of the eclipse. Arlington police do not have plans to implement traffic controls, but the department will share any major disruptions to their social media channels.

“We’re very used to dealing with massive crowds in Arlington — and so we’re confident we would be able to effectively handle any situations should they arise,” Arlington Police Department spokesperson Tim Ciesco said.

Plan for delays afterward

Major roads and highways could get jammed, TxDOT predicts, with some projections calling for congestion of up to four times normal in certain areas. The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles will prohibit vehicles with oversize or overweight permits from traveling in counties that fall within the path of totality April 8 in an attempt to curb some of the expected gridlock.

The agency is encouraging motorists to delay their post-eclipse return trip as long as possible. Anyone planning to be on the road should prep their vehicles by checking tire pressure and stocking up on snacks and water.

“Stay cool and courteous on the road and embrace the extra traffic as part of the experience,” Hartzel said.

The agency will have staff on standby in maintenance offices ready to assist law enforcement with traffic flow, with crews on hand April 7-9 to monitor traffic.

Delta Authors on Tour brings books, literacy mission to Kansas City

K ANSAS CITY, Mo. — One group of Delta Sigma Theta sorority sisters is promoting literacy and giving readers a chance to find a wide variety of Black authors this weekend.

It’s called Delta Authors on Tour and it helps the sorority fulfill its service mission while expanding representation in published works.

“Without the word, without the written word, everything else pales,” said “Nights Over Egypt” author Barbara Keaton. “You have to know how to read in order to write, to be able to do math, to be able to function. Literacy is not just a book. Literacy is life to me.”

That’s at least partially because Keaton is an author and adult literacy instructor in Chicago, helping other people learn to read to help in all other facets of their lives.

She’s joining five other Delta authors who fall into a variety of genres sharing the black perspective in a way Keaton says is sometimes hard to find in literature.

“We just were not seeing us,” Keaton said. “We were not seeing us depicted in a variety of lights. We were very one-dimensional.”

She writes black romance novels while Ann Champion Shaw penned a memoir that chronicles 40 years of her life while drawing parallels to popular Black TV shows.

“Because I think we find that that’s why we’re drawn to a lot of these television shows because I can see myself in that,” said Champion Shaw.

Her book takes readers through good and bad times of what started as an upper-middle class lifestyle.

“Soon after, things got real,” Champion Shaw said. “Tragedy struck in a sense for a little girl like myself, where divorce happened, where we went from a lifestyle of privilege to a lifestyle of poverty and hardships and struggles and challenges.”

The event is Saturday, April 13, 2024 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at UMKC’s Student Union Theatre.

When is the NASCAR race this weekend in Texas?

The Autotrader EchoPark Automotive 400 at Texas is set for Sunday, April 14, at 3:30 p.m. ET.

Before the race, there will be practice and qualifying sessions. The 38-car field will be split into two groups ( found here ), with each group practicing for 20 minutes on Saturday.

Qualifying will start immediately after practice. Each car from the two groups will make one lap in the first round, with the five fastest cars on single-lap speed in each group advancing to the final round. In the final round, the remaining drivers each get one lap to set the top 10 starting order, with positions 11 through 38 are set based on first round times.

Kyle Busch (4) and Denny Hamlin (3) join Johnson as the only other multi-race winners. The one-time winners include Joey Logano (2014), Austin Dillon (2020), Kyle Larson (2021), Tyler Reddick (2022) and Byron (2023). Additionally, Ryan Blaney won the non-points All-Star Race at TMS in 2022.

NASCAR at Texas favorites, drivers to watch

Texas is different from most intermediate tracks because it has two unique corners – turns one and two are wider and flatter, turns three and four are narrower and steeper.

Since the track was reconfigured in 2017, the 11 races have been won by eight different drivers and four different organizations. Kevin Harvick, who retired after last season, had three wins in Texas from 2017 to 2019.

So with Harvick out of the picture, who could be the contenders on Sunday? Byron is the defending winner, but Larson and Bubba Wallace dominated the race last fall. Wallace led 111 laps and finished third, while Larson led 99 laps before crashing out in the closing moments. Both drivers should be in the mix again this year.

Historically speaking, Tyler Reddick (10.4 average finish in five starts), Erik Jones (11.8 in 12 starts), Busch (12.3 in 33 starts), Christopher Bell (13.0 in five starts) and Chase Elliott (13.1 in 13 starts) have posted solid runs in Texas.
