There are a huge number of VR companies all vying to create ever more unique experiences for consumers – and one of the biggest growth categories has been travel. And what better time to get a taste of exploration and adventure from the comfort of your living room, equipped only with a VR headset, than now, when travel is a luxury that many just can’t stretch to? We’ve picked out 10 of the best virtual reality travel experiences currently on the market.
So which VR headset should you go for? Our favourite is the Meta Quest 3, which launched onto the market in mid-2023 and is the successor to the Meta Quest 2. For immersive games and travel experiences, we believe the Meta Quest 3 is destined to become the leading VR headset over the coming years. It’s pretty affordable, too, and unlike other headsets, doesn’t require cords or a computer. You can purchase the Meta Quest 3 at Amazon.com.

Created by Flyover Zone, an American company specialising in virtual travel applications that present the world’s most important cultural heritage sites and monuments, Rome Reborn is one of five applications that present different areas of ancient Rome. This particular one transports users over the entire ancient city, focussing on the Pantheon, perhaps the best-preserved building from antiquity. In the company of two virtual guides, you’ll get to explore the exterior forecourt and interior sanctuary of the reconstructed complex as you listen and learn about the Pantheon’s design and decoration, as well as the nature of the religious cult once housed within it.

Monte Fitzroy is Argentina’s most famous mountain landmark and is even used as the logo for outdoor retailer, Patagonia. It is a place that immediately evokes a sense of adventure. At the foot of the mountain is a beautiful and remote glacial lake known as Laguna Sucia. Most people who visit Monte Fitzroy view it from a location that is much easier to access. Laguna Sucia requires a much tougher hard-to-access trail that culminates in one of the most beautiful and remote glacial lakes in existence. You are rewarded with a sense of almost meditative stillness as you approach this untouched natural amphitheatre. This VR experience utilises Pterovision, a 3D technology that integrates computational photography, 360 Video, and gaming and allows you to take off like a bird, fly around the lake, visit the waterfalls along the edge, and fly over glacial formations beneath the mountain peaks. Numerous narrations will tell you about the challenges we faced when filming in this location, as well as educate you about the geology, culture, and history.

The best virtual tours to explore the world from home

We live in an age of unprecedented access to digital technology – and with it, brand new ways of exploring the world around us.
While it's not quite the same as seeing, say, the Mona Lisa or Christ the Redeemer in person, some of the world’s most popular and remote destinations have created libraries of online images and video, as well as 360 degree virtual tours that let you virtually explore museums, galleries, world wonders and even national parks.
Here a just a few of the best digital tours that let you wander the world from wherever you may be social distancing.
See the seven wonders of the world
If there’s anything capable of whetting your appetite for world travel, it is the new seven wonders of the world: the Great Wall of China , the ancient city of Petra , the Taj Mahal , the Colosseum , Machu Picchu , Christ the Redeemer , and Chichen Itza . Thankfully there are impressive virtual tours of each from The New York Times , AirPano , Google , and Panoramas .
With modern technology, you can even see the last standing wonder of the ancient world— The Pyramids of Giza . There are a few other wonders that might not make it into to the top seven but are still worth a digital peek, like the Alhambra , Seville's La Giralda , and even Easter Island.
Best virtual museum tours
In recent years, Google has partnered with over 2,5000 art museums to upload high-resolution versions of millions of pieces of art. Highlights include New York’s MoMA , DC’s National Gallery of Art , Chicago’s Art Institute , the Casa Battl ó, and Amsterdam’s Van Gogh Museum to name a few.
In addition, The Louvre offers a virtual tour , as do The Vatican Museums , many of the Smithsonian Museums , the Russian Museum , the top-rated British Museum , the Minneapolis Museum of Russian Art , and the Palace Museum in Beijing.
You may not be able to kiss the Blarney Stone right now, but you can tour the Blarney Castle from afar. You can also visit the Museum of Flight, the Museum of Science, the Museum of Natural History, the National Women's History Museum and Boston's History of Science Museum .
While museums are often an inherently visual experience, there's a lot to be learned from archives of past lectures and tours like the ones preserved online by Nashville's Frist Museum , the Hunter Museum of American Art in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Frick , and others.

Explore national parks
While travel to National Parks is best avoided for the time being, you don't need to miss out on the scenery. Virtual Yosemite is absolutely stunning and one of the best, replete with audio. Both Yellowstone National Park and Mount Rushmore offer virtual tours as well.
Google has similar 360 degree audio-visual tours of five select national parks, including Kenai Fjords, Hawai'i Volcanos , Carlsbad Caverns, Bryce Canyon , and Dry Tortugas, as well as 31 more on Google Earth . You can also get an up-close look at almost 4,000 pieces of artwork, artifacts, and other treasures related to the history and culture of the national parks, and view online exhibits .
Digital safaris
Wildlife is a big draw for travelers, whether it's sighting some of the Big Five in Africa, glimpsing whales in North America, or introducing your children to new animals in person on a family safari . But if you're forays into the bush are grounded for now, many zoos and aquariums have created digital access to their habitats.
You can easily watch several live webcams of some of the nation’s greatest zoos and aquariums, including the San Diego Zoo , Houston Zoo , Zoo Atlanta , the Tennessee Aquarium , and the Georgia Aquarium . Additionally you can see Canadian farm animals doing their thing , or you could watch Stella the Dog jump endlessly into huge piles of Maine leaves.

Virtual hiking
Thanks to panoramic video, you can get a really good idea of what a hike looks like well before you arrive at the trailhead. For example, you can experience all of the following top-rated hikes right now from your computer or tablet: Bryce Canyon , Grand Canyon , GR20 , Inca Trail , and the death-defying Angel's Landing . For even more great hikes, simply YouTube one of Lonely Planet’s top 10 treks or any other hike that suits your fancy. Bonus points if you follow along during a workout to enhance the realism.
Famous landmarks
You can visit many wonders of nature, including the Amazon Rainforest , Iguazu Falls , the Komodo Islands , or Table Mountain , using virtual tours. Or you can explore the Statue of Liberty , the Sahara Desert , Niagara Falls , or even a guided tour of the Eiffel Tower . For even more virtual tours, search your bucket list of adventures with AirPano , Google Earth , or YouTube .
Travel to outer space
The moon hasn't made it to Lonely Planet's Best In Travel list (yet!), and even without self-isolation and shelter-in-place measures for COVID-19, many of us may never travel to space. But thanks to technology, now is as good of a time as any to do so virtually. Before blasting off, considering touring some of NASA’s offices first. Then relive the last lunar missions and moon walks in stunning HD. Or take a virtual tour of Mars with the help of Google.

Who says you can't see the world if you stay home? Virtual reality (VR) tourism experiences let you see places all over the world without ever leaving your couch. These aren't games; they're experiences, so the pace may be slower than you expect, but they are worth your patience. Here are some of the best VR tourist destinations to help you decide on your next virtual adventure.
Make sure your computer is beefy enough to handle the demands of virtual reality technology.
The Grand Canyon VR Experience
Very relaxing experience.
Excellent visual and sound quality.
Impressive attention to detail.
Predefined with little control.
Requires powerful hardware.
Short experience.
In The Grand Canyon VR Experience (by Immersive Entertainment), you sit in a virtual motorized kayak ride through the Grand Canyon. Tailor the tour to your preferences by selecting either a sunlit or moonlit experience and controlling the ride's speed.
While you cruise along, you'll enjoy the sights and sounds of procedurally generated, artificially intelligent wildlife. Attract and feed the virtual fish as you navigate the waterways.
The ride is on rails, so you can't steer the kayak. However, you can stop at various points and enjoy the scenery by using the throttle speed controls of your motorized kayak or by exiting at scenic rest stops.
The tour is short, and there's no historical background information for history buffs. Still, it is a fun ride perfect for someone new to VR.
This tour requires one of the following virtual reality headsets: HTC Vive, Oculus Rift , or Valve Index .
Explore amazing places.
Impressively detailed.
More locations are added to the library regularly.
Not updated recently.
Realities is a VR travel app that allows you to explore scanned and modeled real-world environments. The environments aren't just 360-degree photos; these locations were captured with specialized scanning equipment, allowing for immersive rendering in virtual reality.
The user interface is a giant globe you rotate with your VR controllers. Once you decide on the place you want to visit, tap the area on the virtual globe, and you are instantly whisked away to the exotic locale.
One interesting destination is a cell in the infamous Alcatraz prison. When you arrive, you're greeted by an unseen narrator, presumably a former prisoner in the cell next to you, who recalls their experiences. It's museum-like and an educational adventure worth having.
There are other destinations of varying size and complexity, and the experience is updated with new realities regularly.
This experience is compatible with the HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Valve Index, and Windows Mixed Reality .
Titans of Space PLUS
Great soundtrack.
Detailed 3D visuals.
Impressive sense of scale.
Flying through space makes some users feel nauseated.
No improvements since late 2019.
Do you like planetariums? Have you always wished they were more realistic? If you've ever dreamed of riding in a spaceship and exploring the solar system and beyond, Titans of Space PLUS (by DrashVR LLC) helps make this a reality—at least a virtual one).
The original Titans of Space was one of the first polished virtual reality experiences available; it created a lot of buzz about all the potential VR had to offer.
This app provides a theme park-style ride through the solar system and beyond, allowing you to control the pace of the experience. Factoids about the planets and moons are provided throughout your journey, as are distances and other measurements of interest.
The sense of scale of the planets and moons is truly awe-inspiring and gives a unique perspective only astronauts usually get to have.
This title runs in both standard and VR modes. It does not require a VR headset. It is compatible with HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Valve Index, and Windows Mixed Reality.
Impressive rendering technology.
Auto-tunes for your GPU.
Stunning visuals.
Can feel slow.
Mostly narration with little hands-on time.
Everest VR (from Sólfar Studios ) is an interactive Mount Everest VR tourism experience.
You'll experience Mount Everest in five iconic scenes. Prepare for your expedition at Basecamp, traverse the terrifying Khumbu Icefalls, spend the night at Camp 4, ascend the perilous Hillary Step, and finally conquer the summit of Everest.
After completing your first summit attempt, unlock God Mode to reach a unique vantage point of the Himalayas that's only possible in VR. Towering over the mountain range, this is a stunning VR diorama.
EVEREST VR is a must if you're into mountain climbing but don't like its possible death and frostbite aspects.
Requires one of the following virtual reality headsets: HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, or Valve Index.
The VR Museum of Fine Art
Lots of content.
Educational experience.
Hasn't been updated since its initial release.
No voice narration.
Only takes about 20 minutes to experience.
If you've ever wanted to peruse a museum at your own pace with no limits on how close you can get to the artwork, then The VR Museum of Fine Art (free from Finn Sinclair) is for you.
This free app holds amazing educational value with incredibly detailed scans of some of the world's most famous paintings and sculptures. Look at the brushstrokes of Monet's Water Lilies or take a 360-degree tour of Michelangelo's David. This is an art lover's delight.
The experience makes you feel as if you're visiting a museum, complete with a pamphlet map to help you navigate your way around the exhibits.
Great VR experience.
Incredibly realistic.
Contains three episodes.
theBlu (from Wevr INC .) is a collection of virtual reality-based underwater experiences that make you feel as if you're literally in the tank of a huge aquarium exhibit.
Stand on the deck of a sunken ship while a gargantuan whale swims by and looks you straight in the eye or swim in a sea of bioluminescent jellyfish. There's no need for expensive scuba equipment or diving classes, or even to leave your living room, for that matter.
The level of detail in this app is amazing, and the sense of scale (especially during the whale encounter in the first episode) is jaw-dropping.
Compatible with HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Valve Index, and Windows Mixed Reality.
Google Earth VR
Amazing street view VR.
Travel the world virtually.
Impressive, vast experience.
Can be slow to load.
Lacks a search feature.
May cause motion sickness.
When Google Earth was released many years ago, everyone marveled at the novelty of finding and viewing their house from satellite imagery. Now, Google Earth VR (free from Google) lets you see your house from space and virtually fly to it and stand in your front yard or on your rooftop.
Change the sun's position, scale objects to any size you like, and fly around the world. The detail levels depend on what you're trying to view. For example, tourist destinations are likely to have more detailed geospatial imagery than rural areas. There is so much to see, and Google offers virtual tours to help you get started.
Google has even added several comfort features to prevent virtual travel sickness in this must-see virtual reality app.

With the Sites in VR app, you can take tours around the world using a virtual reality headset or just your phone or iPad. You can choose from cities or countries to visit, or you can go inside famous landmarks, like the pyramids. There are even space panoramas for a little out-of-this-world entertainment.
AirPano is a free site that allows you to wander beautiful locations all over the world. The best features of these virtual tours are choosing to take a helicopter view over the landscape or a walking trail through the area. The site also has articles about the location you are visiting and allows visitors to leave comments. If you really like a tour, you can choose to buy it as a download.
Sometimes you just want to leave this planet behind. That’s where virtual space tours come in handy. The Exoplanet Travel Bureau , powered by NASA, is here for you. You can choose an exoplanet and travel around its alien surface. Of course, the planets are artist renderings, since we haven’t actually traveled there yet, but they’re fascinating just the same. NASA at Home has many more space-themed virtual and augmented reality tours, too.
The Hidden Worlds of the National Parks is a Google project that lets you explore five different U.S. parks, including Florida’s Dry Tortugas, Hawaiian volcanoes, the Kenai Fjords in Alaska, New Mexico’s Carlsbad Caverns, and Utah’s Bryce Canyon. Each tour starts with a little history lesson about the area, and then you can dive into the 360-degree landscape. There are also audio tour guides that help you along your journey, explaining what you’re looking at and a little of its history.
Sometimes you don’t know where you want to go, and that’s OK. The Random Street View generator (powered by Google Maps ) is the answer. It will take you on a virtual stroll down a random street somewhere in the world. Be careful, though. Exploring random locations is a bit addicting. One minute you may be virtually walking down a highway in Michigan, and then with a click, you could be in an alleyway in Romania. The best part is that you get to see places that other virtual tour sites and apps don’t offer.
With Google Earth , you can go anywhere on our planet, from your hometown to the other side of the earth. You can use the website to take your journey, or use the app together with VR equipment to enhance your experience. Other than the awesome street views and ability to travel just about anywhere, you can also enhance Google Earth with your own videos and photos of places you have been in person.
If you’re an animal lover, there are many great virtual zoo exhibits that you can visit from your home. The San Diego Live Cams , for example, let you watch live footage of a wide range of animals, from baboons to penguins. Some other great animal cams can be found at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo & Conservation Biology Institute , The Houston Zoo , and EarthCam .
There are plenty of ways to visit our fishy friends, too. The Monterey Bay Aquarium, The Georgia Aquarium, and The National Aquarium all have fantastic live webcams that allow you to watch sharks, jellyfish, stingrays, and much more.
When it comes to fine art, it’s hard to do better than a virtual tour of the Louvre . The website has a variety of tours you can take throughout the gallery, including The Galerie d’Apollon, Louvre’s Petite Galerie, and the east side of the Sully wing. When you’re finished at the Louvre, check out the virtual tours of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in South Korea , the Musée d’Orsay in Paris , and the Museu de Arte de São Paulo in Brazil .
There are also virtual tours that can take you back in time, sort of. You can see amazing exhibits of curiosities from the past, like dinosaurs, Egyptian relics, Stone Age tools, and more at The Natural History Museum in London , The Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History , and The British Museum .
Longing for a walk in the woods or a tour through habitats that rarely see a human? No problem. There are plenty of virtual tours to satisfy you. Conservation International, for example, has a 360-degree tour through the Amazon that is narrated by an indigenous guide. Other virtual hikes you might enjoy include a trip through the redwoods at Muir Woods National Park , a stroll through the Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve, and a tour of New Zealand’s Great Walks .

As rival Apple is rumored to be eyeing an entrance into the metaverse, Microsoft, an early proponent of mixed and augmented reality applications, is criticized for its blurry vision behind the company's own HoloLens strategy. While HoloLens notched big early wins, including scoring a U.S. Department of Defense contract, subsequent delays, project cancellations, and high-profile executive departures may have resulted in the death of the HoloLens 3. Still, despite a scathing profile by Business Insider, it appears that Microsoft remains, at least publicly, committed to its HoloLens endeavors for now. The company has gone on record to refute the publication's reporting that HoloLens 3 has been killed.
There are a number of factors that may be causing Microsoft to pivot from its early bet on HoloLens, but the Microsoft profile cited internal divisions and the lack of a unified strategy among the top reasons for concern. As a result of the chaos, it appears that the largest collateral damage to Microsoft's infighting is the cancellation of its next-generation HoloLens 3 hardware.
Actronika, a startup company known for its HD haptics technology has a futuristic new product. Expected to be on display at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January 2022 is Skinetic, a haptic vest that should make virtual reality experiences feel a lot more realistic.
Skinetic works much as you'd expect. The wearable vest makes VR feel more immersive by bringing life-like sensations and touch-like experiences to areas of the body like the chest when paired with a compatible headset. As reported by Business Wire, the technology "works with 20 patented vibrotactile voice-coil motors, capable of generating a wide range of vibrations that cover 100% of human vibrotactile perception."
It seems that virtual reality may be about to become even more real than ever before -- all thanks to a new VR headset. Pimax, a company that manufactures VR equipment, announced the upcoming release of a new 12K QLED VR headset that will feature technologies such as eye tracking, full-body tracking, and refresh rates of up to 200Hz. The headset, dubbed Pimax Reality 12K QLED, is part of the company's venture into the metaverse and a step toward bringing true realism to using VR.
During today's Pimax Frontier event, the company's representatives talked at length about the goals behind the product -- naturalness, self-awareness, and freedom. Pimax wants to bring these qualities into virtual reality and the metaverse, allowing people from all over the world to interact and explore virtual worlds together. While VR technology already allows for some of that to happen, Pimax wants to take it to the next level with its new invention -- the Reality 12K QLED VR headset.

Virtual Travel Is Here to Stay
For travelers who have various physical impairments—mobile, visual, auditory—virtual tours are a great way to visit destinations that were once off limits. Needless to say, those with financial limitations are equally empowered to visit places they otherwise could not afford.
If you are worried about global warming, traveling via internet is a great way to reduce your carbon footprint and avoid flight shaming while seeing the world.
And of course there are the time savings. You may not have the time to see the world in your lifetime. With virtual travel, you can visit a new continent every day.

Participant Reviews
“I was impressed with the ability of Global Exchange to plug us into a variety of social movements and organizations…I am still amazed at the depth of the experience and how profoundly it has impacted my life and those who shared in the tour.”
"I’ve been with Global Exchange traveling to Cuba, Vietnam, Venezuela and Oaxaca. Lots of learning and delight!"
"I was part of a group that experienced a truly life changing experience. I learned so much on this Reality Tour through the beautiful country of South Africa. It has been many years since myself and my fellow tour members had the opportunity to witness first hand the horrors of apartheid and it’s shocking legacy. The memories are still vivid twenty years later, and I want to thank Global Exchange for this once in a lifetime experience."
"Our trip to Costa Rica was a fantastic trip, from beginning to end! Our guide and driver were both excellent. The visits were so interesting. We learned about so many different, but all very important things. We saw the production of cocoa, sugar, and coffee. We visited several coops, one that sold hand-made goods in a shop made by over 80 different local people, one selling hand-made items by indigenous people, and one who sells coffee from a sustainable farm. We also got to hike, visit a waterfall, a lake, a stream, a hot spring, and zip line through the cloud forest! We even had the opportunity to visit with a local government official about sex trafficking in the tourism industry. Everyone was so knowledgeable and friendly. Based on my experience from this trip, I will definitely be signing up again!"
“This is a wonderful trip to learn about the Days of the Dead and the difficulties the indigenous communities of Oaxaca constantly face. It is not a conventional tour; it is fast paced and focuses on community not tourist sites. Come ready to be a participant in a group experience.”
Create your own Reality Tour with a group of 4 or more. We will work with you to design a journey to any of our destinations examining human rights, community-based development, sustainable alternatives, Fair Trade and so much more.
Reality Tours promote peace and citizen diplomacy by making people to people connections. Our trips challenge you to “Meet the People, Learn the Facts, Make a Difference” and move beyond stereotypes.

22 Renowned Travel Specialists Who Can Make Your Dream Vacation a Reality

Travel Masters 2023
Welcome to the second annual list of Robb Report’s Travel Masters.
Travel can be both profound and transformative. Exhilarating and unforgettable. But not always. The difference between a good trip and a great one—perhaps a life-changing one—is so often about tapping the right people to help plan it. It can be hard to know who to trust to create your dream adventure or even a jaunt back to your favorite destination. There are hundreds of travel specialists, after all, most of whom will argue convincingly that they have contacts and connections to open doors around the globe.
Only a handful of operators worldwide, however, have the expertise, clout and ambition to make the unimaginable real. To celebrate them, and to help you, we have brought them together under this Masters of Luxury banner. There are fewer than two dozen, nearly all of them specialists in certain regions or types of journeys. They come with our endorsement.
We’ve worked closely with the first group on stories over the past year, including asking them to nominate the hotels and suites they consider the greatest places to stay in the world. We’ll continue to partner with them in this way as well as on some exciting new initiatives we’ll soon be able to share (bookmark this page).
As always, if you’re traveling this year, don’t leave home without contacting one of them – and make sure to mention Robb Report sent you.
1. Christopher Wilmot-Sitwell, Cazenove & Loyd
The 25-strong, UK-based agency , steered by the three-decade veteran Wilmot-Sitwell, is known for deftly combining adventure travel—think long-haul jaunts to hard-to-reach Asian and African sites—with no-beat-missed luxury. It was an early champion of sustainability: The firm is committed to offsetting the carbon impact of its own research trips via CommuniTree, a Nicaraguan reforestation project (clients can sign up, too).
2. Henry Cookson, Cookson Adventures
Henry Cookson worked as a horse-riding safari guide in Africa before establishing his London-based firm . He’s carved out a niche that focuses on a small number of elaborate adventures; a few dozen custom itineraries are developed on demand each year. If you want a private trip to Antarctica, there may be no team better to organize it: Henry holds the world record for kite-skiing to the Pole of Inaccessibility, and Cookson Adventures was the first private company to take a submersible to Antarctica. The firm’s also offering Octopus , the renowned 413-foot explorer yacht owned by the late Paul Allen, for charter in the polar reaches.
3. Cari Gray, Gray & Co.
If you’re outdoorsy, ready for anything and prepared to sweat, call Cari Gray. Few manage to design and book high-end active trips with more finesse than the Canadian, who lives in Santa Monica, Calif. Gray combines thrilling, adrenaline-powered programming with much-needed indulgence, whether that’s organizing biking in the mountains of Mallorca or chartering a fishing expedition in the waters off Chile.
4. John Clifford, International Travel Management
John Clifford has almost four decades of experience as a trip designer for high-net-worth folk. Over that time, he’s developed a particular reputation for catering to LGBTQ+ travelers. From his base in San Diego, Calif. , Clifford works worldwide and he can as comfortably score you a last-minute Christmas vacay to Uxua in Trancoso as get you to Iceland’s Hotel Husafell in peak season. “My clients always get the best suite pre-blocked,” he says, “I often handpick it myself.”
5. Gary Portuesi & Jennifer Schwartz, Authentic Explorations
Hungry for Italy? Authentic Explorations is a go-to for any gourmet keen to indulge in truffles, bresaola and Barolo, among other Italian delicacies. Portuesi co-owns an Italian cooking school in NYC and thus certainly knows his stuff. A buyout of Massimo Bottura’s impossible-to-secure Osteria Francescana is easy enough for this team, but they’ll also happily supply a curated list of restaurants to your tastes. Of course, they’ll take care of booking them, too. AE has a headquarters stateside, as well as satellite offices in Florence and Sicily, giving it a head start on the ground in Italy. The company, formerly known as Authentic Italy, has recently broadened to other European vacation spots in recent years, including Croatia, Spain and Portugal.
6. Catherine Heald, Remote Lands
If you’re heading to multiple countries in Asia—from Japan to the Maldives and everything in between—there’s no better counsel than that of Catherine Heald. “I have devoted my life to Asia since moving to Hong Kong in 1987,” she says. Heald and her team have expertise in major cities, but the farthest flung spots are a specialty. Think: Japan’s Yakushima or India’s Sikkim. Heald’s trips often support good causes: Clients who travel to Siem Reap, for example, may dig a water well for a local family as part of their journey. Of course, travelers can expect a good dose of luxury, too.
7. Tanya Dalton, Greaves India
Dalton’s firm , with offices in London, Chicago and Delhi, has a firm handle on all things India. The family business, founded by her Mumbai-born grandfather and later run by her mother, has been around for more than four decades. As a result, Dalton has the ability to grant access to closely guarded sites in Southeast Asia’s largest country. Private palace? You got it. She can also wrangle suites in Rajasthani or program tiger-centric safaris. The choice is yours.
8. Cedric Reversade, Unique Properties & Events
Some call him the villa whisperer, and for good reason. Cedric Reversade, who splits his time between London and Paris, has an unparalleled list of the world’s most exclusive private homes in every must-visit destination, from Saint-Tropez to Capri. Many of the lavish pads are only available (discreetly) via his firm. He and business partner Paul Maxime Koskas don’t simply rent out properties, either. The duo’s point of difference has long been the concierge service that comes bundled with the rental ; it’s like having an ultra-connected EA in any place you vacation.
9. Sandy Cunningham, Uncharted
Sandy Cunningham’s firm Uncharted is aptly named, as it specializes in adventures and safaris in remote destinations. She began her career as a safari operator in East Africa, so she knows the game. Cunningham is adept at creating long-haul trips for large groups, too: She once booked a celebrity family into a private island in Seychelles without publicity, for instance. She has also proved she can safeguard a traveler’s privacy: She whisked the same family out a day earlier than planned, under cover of darkness, to avoid alerting any paparazzi.
10. Max Rosenthal & Stacy Fischer-Rosenthal, Fischer Travel
Max Rosenthal (center) is the third generation of his family to join Fischer Travel . The New York-based firm was founded by his grandfather Bill Fischer, but is currently run by his mom Stacy. The 30-strong operation is more like a members-only club than a conventional travel agency, with a $150,000 initiation fee and annual dues of $25,000. For that, the team opens up its little black book to create one-off experiences worldwide. Indeed, it was Fischer Travel clients who were the first to experience Camp Sarika at Amangiri a month before it opened to anyone else. Another client wanted to see Wadi Rum in Jordan, but the local hotel didn’t pass Fischer’s quality control, so the team shipped in 10 staff from the Kempinski in Aqaba to temporarily run the camp at a higher level.
11. Jean Sanz Bernay, JSB Journeys
US native Jean Sanz Bernay of the six-person boutique operation JSB Journeys has an affinity for all things Latin America. “I’ve traveled through, and lived in, every nook and cranny of South and Central America.” She has connections across the continent and continues to cater to all manner of requests. One client, for example, needed a last-minute, after-midnight jewelry store appointment in Lima to pick out his wife’s present, and another requested a strict kosher trip to Argentina with dinner at a local rabbi’s home.
12. Jules Maury, Scott Dunn Private
The elegant, charming Jules Maury grew up globetrotting. She was the daughter of a Dow Chemical exec whose career took him (and his family) all over the world. Maury became a travel specialist by happenstance while living overseas; friends persistently asked her advice due to her insiderish knowledge and fine taste. Now she’s made it her career. Based in London, she runs the ultra-elite offshoot of Scott Dunn. Maury’s team focuses on custom itineraries worldwide, with an emphasis on forging access to the impossible.
13. Deborah Calmeyer, Roar Africa
Zimbabwe-born Deborah Calmeyer is the go-to Africa expert for any ultra-high-net-worth traveler. She has on the ground offices in both Nairobi and Cape Town, plus headquarters in NYC. Roar Africa offers traditional safaris, but Calmeyer has also established a standalone division that ups the ante on the already-luxe trips. Roar Privé ‘s focus is villa exclusive rentals in the bush. It also offers private-jet-based safaris , which have proven so popular that they regularly sell out months in advance.
14. Kevin Jackson, EXP Journeys
When money is truly no object, EXP Journeys comes in. Jackson and his team create bespoke, one-time-only events in extraordinary locations, often with six-figure budgets or higher. Take the dinosaur dig in the southwest, for instance, in which guests helped discover a new species with a well-known paleontologist. Another standout was a dinner arranged in partnership with Navajo Nation that saw travelers break bread with the last living Navajo Code Talker from World War II.
15. Jonathan Alder, Jonathan’s Travels
Florida-based Jonathan Alder is another Africa insider: He once dropped everything to fly to East Africa to scout private aircraft for clients to use on a month-long trip across the continent. He recommends camps like Angama in the Masai Mara: Come for the walking safari, stay for the glass of champagne overlooking the valley. “It’s the exact spot where the movie poster for Out of Africa was taken,” he says. As a bonus, Alder is also an expert in Japan.
16. Stuart Rigg, Southern Crossings
For more than 30 years, Sydney-based Stuart Rigg has helped travelers explore Australia and New Zealand. Logistics and connections of all kinds are tricky Downunder, so his assistance is particularly welcome. There’s virtually no request he can’t find a way to fulfill. In fact, one celebrity tasked Rigg with organizing his 50th birthday at a mansion in Sydney. The manse’s gym had to be fully refitted and the A/C recalibrated to ensure the traveler’s ideal temp. The birthday bash itself was on a private island right in the heart of Sydney Harbour.
17. Julian Harrison, Premier Tours
Julian Harrison was born and raised in South Africa, before working as a guide there. This primed him to run a travel firm focused squarely on the continent. Beyond luxe safaris, Premier Tours offers trips to often-overlooked islands, like the Bazaruto Archipelago. Harrison is also known for working wonders when problems strike; whether that’s commandeering an aircraft to whisk clients from an unexpected flood in Kenya or handling immigration issues when a pet-chewed passport prevented a traveler from entering Johannesburg. (Harrison arranged a special appointment at the US embassy to replace the passport in situ.)
18. Alex Wix, Wix Squared
Longtime luxury travel specialist Alex Wix only launched her firm seven years ago, but she has become a go-to for trips to Morocco (where she’s based), Australia and Asia. Her expertise is in the hard-to-reach spots in those three territories, though it’s in Morocco where her connections are truly unmatched. For example, she can arrange a candlelit canyon dinner near a luxury camp in the picturesque Agafay desert. Wix loves a personal touch, too: She once organized silver and gold Temari (Japanese ornaments) for one couple traveling to Japan.
19. Ashley Isaacs Ganz, Artisans of Leisure
Artisans of Leisure is known for its ultra-luxe private tours of Europe, the Middle East and Asia. The NYC-based firm has previously arranged a visit to a nuclear research lab in France (CERN) and a rendezvous with a well-known Bernese Mountain Dog for some Silicon Valley-based millennials. It has also coordinated a wealthy family’s private-jet adventure to Greece, France and the UK. If you’ve always wanted to score the best room at the Ritz Paris or Claridge’s in London, Ashley Isaacs can guarantee it.
21. Jaclyn Sienna India, Sienna Charles
Jaclyn Sienna India’s clients pay an annual retainer to keep her on speed dial, as she doubles as a lifestyle concierge and travel agent. If a villa on the Côte d’Azur in summer or a yacht in Sardinia’s seas is your focus, consider adding the Beverly Hills-based firm to your contacts. Sienna focuses on villas more than hotels, explaining: “It’s hard to get someone who has three homes worth $30 million or more each excited about a new hotel—hotels don’t offer the level of service they once did.” Another key differentiator when it comes to Sienna’s programming is the fact that all the guides she recommends have been sourced first-hand. That way, she can vouch for their quality without concern.

Kayla Cardona of ‘Selling the OC’ Opens Up About Selling the Most Expensive Listing in Show History
Netflix’s “ Selling the OC ” is back for Season 3—and raising the stakes by featuring the show’s most expensive listing ever: a $28 million waterfront mansion represented by real estate agent and series star Kayla Cardona .
Ahead of the third season, which premieres May 3 on Netflix, Cardona tells Realtor.com that the five-bedroom, nine-bathroom, Newport Beach, CA , home is also a record for The Oppenheim Group, the Los Angeles-based brokerage where she works under Jason Oppenheim .
“Jason probably won’t like this,” Cardona admits. “But it’s also the biggest listing in the Newport Beach office.”
Excited to hear more about this groundbreaking and gorgeous listing, we got Cardona to fill us in on the final sale price and how she spent her big commission. She also offers up some solid advice for any buyer or seller looking to make the best deal in today’s tricky housing market.
Season 3 begins with you hosting a broker’s open house for the $28 million listing in Newport Beach. By season’s end, will we get to see you ring the famed office bell to celebrate a sale?
The status is that it is sold. I actually closed about a month or two after we got done filming, so I was not able to capture that moment. But if you go on my Instagram, I definitely have that video, and it was very exciting for everybody.
It was listed for just under $28 million, but we sold it for $24.5 [million] , no contingencies. It closed in like 10 days—all cash. It was a quick, smooth sale, and I’m just very excited.
(Realtor.com)
Did you do anything in particular with the commission you earned from that $24.5 million sale?
Honestly, I was able to catch up on my taxes, and I did do a little bit of traveling. But I put most of it back into my business because I also have my life coaching business that I run. It was nice because it gave me room; and then I also invested in a podcast studio, and I brought back my podcast. So that’s been extremely helpful.
Now that you’ve reached this career milestone, what have you learned since your first listing as an agent?
My very first-ever listing was this one-bedroom condo in Mission Viejo for like $400,000 or something along those lines. I was, of course, a newer agent, and I was so excited and so proud of myself with how far I’d come. It was a win for me.
The takeaway really is just you got to keep going, and you got to keep pushing—even though everyone else around you is saying that you’re not good enough. I remember my last brokerage before joining The Oppenheim Group basically said I’ll never make it in luxury, and I sure did—and sold the $24.5 million [listing]. That team that said I couldn’t do it has never sold anything double digits, so [I’m] very proud of myself.
What’s your best advice for buyers and sellers in today’s housing market?
The market is definitely picking up. People are realizing that it’s back to reality. People got spoiled back in 2020 when rates were down to 2-2.5%, so when people see it’s now just over 7% , it’s scary. I think people need to keep in mind that [in] the history of interest rates, the median is 8%.
My advice for sellers is if they want to sell their property for top dollar, they need to do renovations. What I’m finding in the market today is buyers are willing to pay premium for properties that are completely done and turnkey, ready to go. They don’t want to move into a property where they have to do renovations. If you want top dollar, get renovations done, [and] do the maintenance around the home to sell at the best price.
For the buyers, don’t worry about the interest rates. Everybody knows it goes up and down. What you want to do is purchase now and then refinance when the interest rates go down. What you don’t want to face is waiting and then prices are super high, and you still [have] to pay that interest rate anyways. So, buy now, and renovate and sell now.
Do you think a mansion tax similar to the one that’s now in place in Los Angeles County would ever come to Orange County?
OC is very much a bubble. We kind of have our own rules. I personally don’t think it [would] pass if that [was] an idea. We’re a bit more conservative.
What’s your personal home like, and are there any renovations on your to-do list?
I live in Irvine currently, and I don’t have any renovations planned quite yet. I live in an older home, so I definitely want to start opening that up and just kind of [do] fun renovations around the home, for sure. I definitely want to start with my kitchen. I’ve just been so busy with all my other businesses and, you know, [I’m] still a single mama, so it’s very difficult to do everything that I do, wearing all the hats that I wear, and then also try to renovate my home.
Is the luxury real estate market as competitive as reality TV makes it seem?
It’s just as competitive as they show it, but luxury real estate takes up a very tiny percentage of the full picture. The bread and butter is usually the $1, $2, $3 million [listings] and obviously anything underneath. Everyone wants to break into the luxury market, which is great, but it is extremely competitive.
Do you agree with how you’re portrayed on “Selling the OC”?
Season 3 is definitely accurate. Season 1 and 2 [were] not accurate whatsoever. They made it seem like I was a pot stirrer and I was bringing up certain situations in [the] wrong times, which was inaccurate. They made it seem like I cared about certain things that I absolutely did not. Storylines were inaccurate, as well.
It was unfortunate living through that and the aftermath of it coming out because you have tons of fans that are ride-or-die for us, and so they think it’s all 100% real.
Even though the drama is real, it doesn’t necessarily mean how it happened or how people said certain things at certain times is accurate. Some of the storylines aren’t always accurate.
I’m really excited for Season 3 to come out because people are really going to see who I am, how I am, and the growth in my real estate career.
All episodes of “Selling the OC” Season 3 will be available to stream Friday, May 3 on Netflix.

Kendall Jenner recalls having anxiety-induced ‘meltdowns on planes’ during early modeling days

Kendall Jenner’s anxiety issues were once triggered by air travel.
“I remember having these meltdowns on planes,” the “Kardashians” star, 28, shared in her summer 2024 Vogue cover story , which was published Thursday.
“They would come out of nowhere. I’d be like, ‘Oh my God, oh my God,’ something’s wrong with my heart: palpitations, shortness of breath, dizziness, double vision, tingles. The whole thing.”
Jenner said she would call her mom, Kris Jenner, “hysterically crying” and say, “I need them to stop the plane, I need them to turn around.'”
The fashion model has been very open about her struggles with mental health in the past.
In 2018, Kendall shared she didn’t walk any runways in Europe and New York City for the spring/summer fashion week shows that year because she felt she was “gonna go crazy.”
“I was on the verge of a mental breakdown,” she admitted to Elle at the time.
Then, in 2021, Kendall told Vogue that she has been experiencing anxiety since she was a child, and at times it making her feel as if she were “dying.”
“I remember being really young – I’d say 8, 9, 10 – and having shortness of breath and going to my mom and telling her that,” the Hulu star explained.

“I’ve had times where I feel like I need to be rushed to the hospital because I think my heart’s failing, and I can’t breathe, and I need someone to help me. Sometimes I think I’m dying.”
More recently, Kendall confessed on her reality show that she is scared to have children because of her mental health struggles.
”Honestly, the scariest part for me is, am I just going to get worse throughout life?” the reality star said during a conversation with Scott Disick in the October 2023 episode.
“Because I feel like it’s worse than ever right now. The older I get, is it just going to get worse and worse?”

Despite Kendall’s fears for the future, the 818 Tequila founder told Vogue for their latest issue that she has actually gotten her issues somewhat under control, noting it’s been two years since her last panic attack.
Kendall shared that deep breathing, distraction, meditation, journaling and periodic consultations with a spiritual healer have been really helpful — as well as speaking weekly with a psychotherapist.
“A huge thing I work on in therapy is feeling worthy of where I’m at and knowing that I can’t let what’s being said about me on the internet, especially about my worthiness, get in my head too much,” she explained. “I let it get there, and I think that’s what brings me down a lot of the time.”
Kendall shared that her older sister Khloé Kardashian has advised her to not read mean comments on social media to protect her mental health.
The face of L’Oréal Paris also makes an effort to get out of bed, put “one foot in front of the other” and get her “blood flowing” to make her feel better.
She added, “When I say I’m struggling right now, I’m not doing those helpful things. Choosing to sit in my bed and mope all day is setting myself up for failure.”
