Royal Caribbean Announces 2022 Alaska Cruise Season Schedule
It's never too early to start planning for an Alaska cruise and Royal Caribbean International is gearing up for its most adventure-packed Alaska season in summer 2022. The cruise line will be introducing new itineraries that tout four ports of call and others that showcase twice the glaciers. With a variety of destinations and four unforgettable cruise ships to choose from, including two of the most innovative in the region – Ovation, Quantum, Radiance and Serenade of the Seas – thrill-seekers can experience the breadth of Alaskan nature and culture. The diverse beauty of America’s last frontier will come to life in the culturally rich towns of Haines and Sitka, Seward’s wild natural beauty, and the majestic vistas of the Inside Passage and Hubbard Glacier.
Informed by guest feedback, travel advisors and local partners, the robust vacation offering will be part of a longer summer program, offering 7-night cruise vacations departing from Seattle ; Seward, Alaska; and Vancouver , British Columbia. Royal Caribbean’s 2022 Alaska cruises open for bookings on Wednesday, Nov. 11; Crown & Anchor Society loyalty members are able to book today.
Quantum Class Goes Bolder & Bigger in Alaska
Ovation of the Seas – the first of the cruise line’s game-changing Quantum Class to sail the Last Frontier – will be joined by sister ship Quantum of the Seas to sail 7-night roundtrip itineraries from Seattle. The Quantum Class ships will bring guests to more scenic cities and towns along the Northwest coastline, including Victoria, British Columbia; Sitka, Skagway, Ketchikan and Juneau, Alaska. Travelers will feel a warm welcome in picturesque towns, where native tradition and original Russian architecture are folded into daily Alaskan life, and the awe of the region’s lush landscape, wildlife-filled fjords and gigantic glaciers like the 30-mile-long Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier – best viewed from the North Star, a glass observation capsule unique to Quantum Class that rises 300 feet above sea level.
The adrenaline rush will continue with onboard activities, including a collection of indoor and outdoor pools, the FlowRider surf simulator, RipCord by iFly indoor skydiving experience, and SeaPlex, the largest and most revolutionary indoor active space at sea. When vacationers need a break, they can enjoy Two70, a cutting-edge and transformative venue that offers 270-degree views of the ocean by day and transforms into an unparalleled theater by night with the help of the cruise line’s signature Roboscreens – a troupe of six agile screens that fuse performance art and technology for immersive, live theatrical productions.
Radiance Class Dazzles with Views
A popular choice among vacationers for their ocean-facing glass elevators and floor-to-ceiling windows that provide breathtaking views, two Radiance Class ships will return to the region to round out the summer season. Radiance and Serenade of the Seas will further expand Royal Caribbean’s reach with a fresh take on 7-night itineraries anchored by visits to Haines, Sitka, Ketchikan, Juneau and Seward, Alaska.

Sailing alternating, open-jaw itineraries between Vancouver and Seward, Radiance will introduce a second northbound itinerary that includes a visit to Icy Strait Point – a port owned and operated by native Alaskans – celebrated for its genuine native Tlingit hospitality, diverse landscape and active wildlife. Southbound sailings will introduce an evening call to Haines, among the Inside Passage’s most scenic towns and home to a thriving arts community. Paired with a day spent in Skagway, guests can take advantage of the long, summer daylight hours in the state’s adventure capital that is located along the continent’s longest and deepest fjord.
Sister ship Serenade, departing roundtrip from Vancouver, will similarly hero Haines with a full-day visit to the destination known for whitewater rafting and spotting the North American brown bear. Guests can also enjoy twice the ice with an itinerary that features both the Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier, and the Hubbard Glacier, the largest tidewater glacier in North America.
Guests on board Serenade can extend their stay with Royal Caribbean’s signature CruiseTours, a series of 2- to 6-night pre- or post-cruise land tours led by local experts. Travelers can witness the notorious American Brown Bear hunting as part of the Katmai Bear Trek, or learn more about “The Last Great Race” and the team of sled dogs on the Family Tundra Express experience. Royal Caribbean also offers 5- to 6-night Canada CruiseTour options with visits to Banff, Calgary and more.

Travel | bob graham, former florida governor and u.s. senator, dies at 87, things to do, subscriber only, travel | cruise demand leaves pandemic in rearview with record passengers, more construction on tap.
MIAMI BEACH — The COVID pandemic drove the cruise industry to a standstill, but numbers released Tuesday signal the years of comeback are officially over with more expansion on tap.
More than 31.7 million passengers took cruises worldwide in 2023, said Kelly Craighead, Cruise Line International Association president and CEO, speaking at the annual Seatrade Cruise Global conference at Miami Beach Convention Center.
CLIA is the lobbying group for member cruise lines, including Royal Caribbean, Disney Cruise Line, Carnival, Norwegian, MSC and most other major brands.
The pandemic shut down sailing from March 2020 with only a small number of ships coming back online 18 months later in summer 2021. Cruise lines didn’t return to full strength until partially through 2022, so it wasn’t until a full year of sailing in 2023 that the industry could get a real handle on just what the demand had grown to as people returned to vacation travel.
“We are an industry that’s resilient and thriving all around the world, breaking records in ways we might never have imagined,” she said.
The 2023 total is 2 million more than the industry had in 2019. CLIA projects 34.1 million in 2024 growing to 34.6 million in 2025. It’s still a miniscule chunk of the overall travel pie of more than 1.3 billion, but cruise’s share is growing.
She noted that surveys of travelers who would consider a cruise for a vacation are at an all-time high, noting that 82% who had previously cruised said they would cruise again, but more importantly, among those who had never sailed, 71% would consider it.
The youngest generations — Gen X, Millennials and Gen Z — are the biggest drivers.
The fleet for the growing demand continues as well, including the introduction this year of the world’s largest cruise ship, Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas.
She said CLIA member lines had more than 300 ships sailing globally for the first time in 2023, with 14 new ships that began sailing in 2023 and another eight expected before the end of the year. They have 88 new ships on order through 2028.
Already this year, both Royal Caribbean Group and Carnival Corp. announced major new ship construction deals, and Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings added to that this week with its order of eight more vessels across its three brands.
The heads of those groups were on stage to discuss where the industry is headed and enjoy their recent success.
Carnival Corp.’s president and CEO Josh Weinstein put it in a way that gained plaudits from fellow panelists and others at the conference.
“The concept of pent-up demand for cruising is gone,” he said. “We have been cruising for three years, right? It’s over. This is natural demand because we all provide amazing experiences. We delivered happiness to literally 31 million guests last year. And people see it, they feel it.”
A big part of what cruising missed during the pandemic he said was that word-of-mouth promotion that is needed to convince people to try their product.
“We now have 31 million people getting off our ships and going home and telling their friends and family who have never cruised before, ‘You don’t know what you’re missing.’ ‘This is amazing.'”
All of the leaders echoed the industry line that they offer a much better value than land-based vacations, but that the experience gap between the two has now shifted in their favor coming out of the pandemic.
“The appreciation for building memories with your friends and family coming out of COVID is at extraordinarily high levels,” said Jason Liberty, president & CEO at Royal Caribbean Group. “Also wealth transfer, right? Grandparents wanting to see that wealth transfer live, watching their kids and their grandkids experience that is also at an all-time high. … We have the secular trends of people buying less stuff, they want experiences. We’re in the experience business.”
Another bright aspect to the industry has been the spillover effect of all of the new ships since the pandemic, said Harry Sommer, president & CEO at Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd.
“Their new products are so extraordinary, and so much better than what was delivered back in ’15, ’16 and ’17, that it’s driving additional excitement for the entire industry,” Somer said. “When any new ship is delivered, no matter whether it’s part of our portfolio or the other portfolios, demand improves for all of us because it adds excitement to the industry.”

Value Investors: Screen with the PEG Ratio
Welcome to Episode #364 of the Value Investor Podcast.
(0:30) - Finding Strong Investments Using The PEG Ratio
(5:40) - Tracey’s Top Stock Picks
(18:20) - Episode Roundup: JD, OC, RCL, TM, PPC
Every week, Tracey Ryniec, the editor of Zacks Value Investor portfolio , shares some of her top value investing tips and stock picks.
It’s time to look at a basic value investing screen. But this week, Tracey skipped classic value to go straight for the value investor’s secret weapon: growth and value.
Finding good value stocks might seem easy, but combining the value with growth, is very difficult. It’s a rare combination.
What's the PEG Ratio?
Benjamin Graham, the “father” of value investing and former boss of Warren Buffett, invented the PEG ratio as a way to not only get a cheap stock, but to also get growth.
What is the PEG ratio? It is the P/E ratio (price over earnings) divided by the growth rate.
For value investors, you want to look for a PEG ratio under 1.0. That means a company is both cheap and has growth.
Screening with the PEG Ratio
Zacks has a PEG ratio screen which includes the Zacks Rank of #1 (Strong Buy) and #2 (Buy) along with the current average broker recommendation.
It also looks for stocks over $5.
The screen is even more demanding of the PEG ratio, however. It looks for stocks with a PEG of 0.55 or less. That’s going to have a lot of value.
This is one of Tracey’s favorite stock screens for value investors.
This screen returned 19 stocks.
5 Value Stocks with Growth for Your Short List
1. JD.com, Inc. JD
JD.com is a Chinese Internet retailer. Shares of JD.com are down 12% year-to-date and have sold off over the last 5 years, falling 16.9% during that time.
It’s cheap, with a forward P/E of just 8.5 along with a PEG ratio under 1.0. But Chinese stocks have struggled over the last 2 years.
Is JD.com too cheap to pass up?
2. Owens Corning OC
Owens Corning manufactures building and construction materials. This is a hot area of the economy right now. Shares of Owens Corning are up 10.5% year-to-date and it recently hit new 5-year highs. Owens Corning is up 216% over that period.
Yet Owens Corning remains cheap. It trades with a PEG ratio of just 0.3. Owens Corning also pays a dividend yielding 1.5%.
Should Owens Corning be on your short list?
3. Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. RCL
Royal Caribbean Cruises operates cruise ships. Cruising struggled during the pandemic but has made a comeback four years later.
However, shares of Royal Caribbean are down 1.8% year-to-date. And even over the last 5 years, they are up just 4.3%.
Royal Caribbean is cheap and has growth. It’s forward P/E is just 13.3 and Royal Caribbean is expected to grow earnings by 48% in 2024.
Should you add a travel and hospitality company like Royal Caribbean to your watch list?
4. Toyota Motor Corp. TM
Toyota Motor is a Japanese auto manufacturer. Shares of Toyota have soared in 2024, adding 32%. It has also hit 5-year highs, up 94% during that period.
Despite the big rally, Toyota remains cheap. It has a forward P/E of just 10.7. It’s expected to grow earnings by 73% in fiscal 2024 but what will come next? Can it keep this growth rate?
Should an auto manufacturer like Toyota be on your watch list in 2024?
5. Pilgrim’s Pride Corp. PPC
Pilgrim’s Pride produces chicken and pork products. Shares of Pilgrim’s Pride have soared this year, adding 28%. But over the last 5 years, they’ve lagged the S&P 500. Pilgrim’s Pride is up 52.5% during that period while the S&P 500 is up 76.2%.
Pilgrim’s Pride is cheap. It trades with a PEG ratio of just 0.4. Earnings are expected to soar 75.4% this year.
After such a big rally, it too late to buy Pilgrim’s Pride?
What Else Do You Need to Know About Using the PEG Ratio to Find Top Value Stocks?
Tune into this week’s podcast to find out.
Why Haven’t You Looked at Zacks' Top Stocks?
Since 2000, our top stock-picking strategies have blown away the S&P's +7.0 average gain per year. Amazingly, they soared with average gains of +44.9%, +48.4% and +55.2% per year.
Today you can access their live picks without cost or obligation.

6 Best Cruises Out Of Port Canaveral
By Zachary Laks | Published on April 9, 2024
It's time to start planning your next big vacation. Whether you're looking for a weekend getaway, a family-friendly vacation or an extended voyage, you'll find cruises out of Port Canaveral, Florida that tick all your boxes.
When considering one of the cruises out of Port Canaveral, plan extra time before and after your sailing to soak up all the fun that the area has to offer. There's so much to do in Orlando that you could stay for several days and never get bored — music to your ears if you're traveling with children. One of the best things about Orlando cruises is that you have your choice of theme parks to round out your vacation. They're expansive and immersive escapes into playful worlds, not unlike a great cruise. I love tacking on an extra day or two at an Orlando theme park, usually before my cruise departs. I always appreciate the days of racking up thousands of steps traversing a theme park before boarding a cruise, where I know I'll be able to lounge on a deck or relax in a hot tub.
Not far from Port Canaveral, the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is a great place to spend a day admiring the vast scope of NASA. The center offers one-of-a-kind immersion into space exploration, including the chance to strap into a rocket launch simulator for an adrenaline-pumping thrill.
For those seeking a more peaceful retreat before boarding their cruises out of Orlando, Port Canaveral is near the white sands of Cocoa Beach. Spend the day enjoying calm, low waves — great for year-round swimming, learning to surf and kayaking alongside manatees and dolphins. Or take a seat on an airboat ride through the wetlands for encounters with alligators and, depending on the season, bald eagles, herons and osprey.
Ready to book a cruise to Port Canaveral? Here are the six best cruises from Port Canaveral.
1. Best For A Long Weekend
Set to launch in the summer of 2024, Utopia of the Seas ℠ will be the sixth Oasis Class ship, Royal Caribbean's class of ships packed with adventure and entertainment. The new ship will focus on three- and four-night cruises from its year-round home port in Port Canaveral, with onboard upgrades that include reimagined pool decks, a Giovanni's℠ Italian Kitchen that spans two decks (try the osso buco!) and the new Pesky Parrot tiki bar, serving fruity cocktails on the Royal Promenade. This itinerary to the Bahamas on Utopia of the Seas ℠ is the best for a long weekend exploring the highlights of The Bahamas, with a day in Nassau followed by a day at Perfect Day at CocoCay , Royal Caribbean's private island destination.
2. Best For Beach Lovers
This exquisite itinerary to the Southern Caribbean on Adventure of the Seas ® routes you to the farthest corner of the Caribbean for some of its best beaches. Sailing on the Adventure of the Seas ® for eight nights from Port Canaveral, you'll stop in ports such as Oranjestad, Aruba; Willemstad, Curaçao; and Kralendijk, Bonaire. Each port will welcome you with easily accessible, powdery sand beaches primed for world-class swimming, snorkeling and diving. You'll have your pick of 86 dive sites at Bonaire National Marine Park with more than 350 recorded fish species known to frequent the waters.
3. Best For A European Adventure
Transatlantic sailings make for such a special vacation, and this 13-night Transatlantic Azores itinerary on Adventure of the Seas ® packs four remarkable ports into the crossing. You'll cruise the Atlantic for the first nine days, living it up on a ship that is packed with ways to play and relax. You'll arrive in idyllic Tenerife in the Canary Islands on the tenth day. Immerse yourself in the local Spanish culture by spending part of your day exploring the Museum of Nature and Archaeology or the Basilica de Candelaria shrine. The cruise continues to Lanzarote, Canary Islands, where picture-perfect colonial mansions line cobblestone streets, then on to the adventurous mountain island of Madeira, Portugal before completing your journey in the charming streets of Lisbon, Portugal.
4. Best For Private Island Getaways
This unique Port Canaveral cruise itinerary to Bermuda and Perfect Day at CocoCay on Adventure of the Seas ® visits both of Royal Caribbean's private destinations, where paradise is just steps away from the ship. On an eight-night journey, this ship will first cruise to Labadee, the cruise line's private peninsula adventure park and beach. Soak up this private spot by relaxing on the beach, enjoy the destination's signature cocktail specialty, the Labadoozie (a fruity rum cocktail) or opt for a zip line ride that will send you soaring over the ocean. The next private island destination is Perfect Day at CocoCay, Royal Caribbean's oasis in The Bahamas. Here you'll port within short distance of pristine beaches, a thrilling water park and countless ways to unwind beneath the palm trees. There's also a stop in Bermuda, home to pink-sand beaches and rum swizzles.
5. Best For Foodies
Foodies will delight in fresh, authentic Caribbean dishes on this itinerary to the Western Caribbean and Perfect Day at CocoCay on Wonder of the Seas ® . In Cozumel, Mexico you'll find lunch specialties featuring locally caught seafood, often grouper and red snapper fried on a plate with rice and a vibrant salad. In Roatán, Honduras, ceviche is the local favorite, along with fried plantains and baleadas — tacos made with soft flour tortillas. The ship's final port is Puerto Costa Maya, Mexico, a charming fishing village where the salbutes (fried corn tortillas topped with shredded chicken) make a great appetizer to the catch of the day, served hot off the grill.
6. Best For Variety
This seven-night Eastern Caribbean itinerary on Wonder of the Seas ® is a top choice if you want to change things up and go on a unique adventure in each port. Your first destination is Philipsburg, St. Maarten, where you can tour the island on an ATV, sample rum from a local distillery or end the day with a sunset horseback ride on the beach. When the ship arrives in the U.S. Virgin Islands at Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, head straight to Magens Bay, often short-listed as one of the world's most beautiful beaches. Or dive into a snorkeling tour to get face time with some sea turtles and coral reefs. On your final stop, Royal Caribbean's Perfect Day at CocoCay, everyone in your group can enjoy a seemingly endless array of activities. If the beach is calling, grab a spot on one of the many cushy beach loungers close to a bar serving up island cocktails that go great with the ocean view. For the adventurous ones, Daredevil's Peak® waterslide is North America's tallest and promises an adrenaline rush.

Port Jan Mayen Island cruise ship schedule shows timetable calendars of all arrival and departure dates by month. The port's schedule lists all ships (in links) with cruises going to or leaving from Jan Mayen Island, Arctic Norway. To see the full itineraries (ports of call dates and arrival / departure times) and their lowest rates – just follow the corresponding ship-link.
Jan Mayen Island is one of Arctic Norway's territories. The island has length of approx 55 km (34 mi) and covers a total area of approx 373 km2 (144 mi2). The island is partly covered by glaciers - around its highest elevation point - Beerenberg volcano (2277 m / 7470 ft). The island is generally uninhabited, with under 50 non-permanent residents.
Jan Mayen is located approx 600 km (370 mi) northeast of Iceland, approx 500 km (310 mi) east of Greenland and approx 1000 km (620 mi) west of North Cape Norway .
The island has two separate parts: bigger (Nord-Jan) and smaller (Sor-Jan) linked by an isthmus (a narrow piece of land) with width of 2,5 km (1,6 mi). The terrain is mountainous, with the highest point being the stratovolcano Beerenberg (located in the north).
The linking isthmus is where are the island's two largest lakes - named Nordlaguna (North Lagoon) and Sorlaguna (South Lagoon). The only inhabitants on Jan Mayen are the stationed personnel working for the Norwegian Army or the Norwegian Meteorological Institute.
Transport to Jan Mayen Island is provided via Lockheed C-130 Hercules military transport aircraft operated by RNoAF (Royal Norwegian Air Force). These planes land on the gravel runway of Jan Mayen airfield. The aircraft fly from Bodo (Main Air Station, 2 hours away) 8 times per year. Cargo ships visit the island during summer, bringing heavy goods. The ships are anchored as the island has no harbours.
As no commercial airline flies to the island, the only way to get there by air is via a privately chartered airplane.
Since 2010, Jan Mayen Island is designated as a nature reserve (under Norway's jurisdiction) to ensure the preservation of this pristine Arctic island, as well as the marine life in the surrounding waters.
The island is also identified as IBA (Important Bird Area) by BirdLife International as a breeding ground for many seabirds, including little auks, thick-billed and black guillemots, Arctic fulmars.
Jan Mayen Island cruise terminal
Cruise ships to Jan Mayen Island anchor near Boat Bay (Batvika).
Landings on the island can be done only by boat (cruise ship tender boat or Zodiaks / large capacity inflatable boats). Landings are permitted only at small part of Jan Mayen, named Boat Bay (Batvika). Admission for landings has to be obtained in advance.
