This year will be both challenging and exciting for us here at Western Montana Chapter of Safari Club International. We’ll be preparing for a long-term future and creating a plan for projects across a wide spectrum of objectives and activities.

We envision a future of better collaboration with our members and we’ll be addressing the issues that matter most, to all of us. Wildlife Conservation , Hunting Rights , Education and Advocacy are the key priorities for our Chapter...

We are a 501(c)4 organization. The Western Montana Chapter of SCI has funded wildlife conservation, hunter education and youth programs for over 15 years. It's through your generous support and donations that we're able to continue our work. Our focus is aimed at hunters rights and wildlife conservation here in Montana.

Safari Club holds banquet this week

The Montana Chapter of Safari Club International (SCI) will hold its 22nd annual banquet and fund-raiser celebrating the "Year of the Moose" on Saturday, May 4, at the Holiday Inn Grand Montana Ballroom.

The emcee of the event will be David Berg. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. with a silent auction and raffle followed by dinner and a live auction by auctioneer Rick Young.

Proceeds from the event benefit a wide range of activities that help hunters and nonhunters, according to Randy Hall, Montana Chapter president.

The group is active at the local, state, national and international level, working to protect hunters' rights, conserve wildlife and conduct educational outreach programs.

This benefit also helps fund the American Wilderness Leadership School (AWLS) in Jackson, Wyo., where SCI is teaching the values of conserving wildlife and wilderness lands. And it helps fund SCI's Sportsmen Against Hunger program to provide wild game meat to the needy and to help feed the homeless and hungry.

This year's live auction includes bear hunting in Alaska, hunting alligators in Louisiana, dove hunting in Mexico, weekend pack trips in the mountains, an elk hunt for a disabled hunter or a youth, mule deer or whitetail hunts in Eastern Montana, catfishing in Canada, fishing on the Yellowstone, plus jewelry, artwork and bronzes.

Safari Club International is the leader in protecting the freedom to hunt and promoting wildlife conservation worldwide. These primary missions are supported through the many arenas of the organization.

Advocate: Since 2000, SCI has spent $140 million on protecting the freedom to hunt through policy advocacy, litigation, and education for federal and state legislators to ensure hunting is protected for future generations. Through direct involvement and partnerships with like-minded organizations, SCI has become a political force in Washington, D.C. and other world capitals.

Connect: When you become a member of SCI, you join a network of over 55,000 like-minded individuals all over the world. SCI members make a difference through conservation efforts in their communities and voicing their concerns to representatives who take them to the floors of Washington.

Educate: Through our publications, Safari Magazine and Safari Times, we keep you up to date on events and board actions as well, teach you some tips and techniques, and stories about other membersˊ hunting expeditions.

Represent: SCI members help shape and promote the image of the hunter to non-hunters through their words and actions. In addition to practicing ethical hunting while in the field and around others, members can give back by participating in humanitarian efforts taking place across the globe through the affiliated charitable organization, Safari Club International Foundation.

SAFARI CLUB GREAT FALLS

The Great Falls Chapter SCI was stablished in 2001 and our main purpose is to promote conservation and the right to hunt. We are currently the second largest chapter in the world for SCI. The chapter has a board of 11 volunteers and we hold four membership meetings a year as well as an annual Banquet and Fundraiser. The banquet is held on the second Saturday of March with an attendance between 350 and 400. We have grossed over $2 million since we started and over $1.1 million has been used for local projects.
