Now there is a new engine on the new Storme but hold your horses. It's the 2.2 litre engine borrowed from cousin Aria that gives it an extra 10 bhp at 148 bhp and 320 nm of peak torque. There is some reason to smile as the engine feels quite responsive and punchy than before especially when you hit that open stretch on the highway. The turbo lag has reduced significantly but not so smooth gearbox is quite a downer. In city traffic, you are likely to feel a bit frustrated driving this heavy SUV and wished your left arms didn't have this workout session with the gearbox.
Prices for the new Safari Storme start at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex showroom Delhi) and will takes on the new Mahindra Scorpio and the Renault Duster AWD. But it will need more of an effort to really create a Storme and blow the competition away. We know Tata Motors now has the Land Rover expertise to give the Storme more teeth, hopefully that will happen sooner than later.

Speaking on the occasion, Girish Wagh, senior vice president, PPPM (programme, planning and project management), Passenger Vehicles Business Unit, Tata Motors, said, “As India’s first SUV – the Tata Safari has constantly evolved catering to varied requirements of the Indian car buyer, inspiring them to not only think big, but to also think adventure with their families. The new Safari Storme launched today is based on Tata Motors Horizonext, having evolved for a more engaging and connected drive, boasting added masculinity, with increased power. The new Safari Storme has a host of integrated connectivity features for a more complete vehicle experience, new design elements to the exteriors and the interiors, for added dynamism, boldness and aggression, along with a superior road presence.”
Performance and safety The new Safari Storme is a refined vehicle, delivering a performance of 0 – 100 km/hr in 14 seconds. The 4×4 variant also features ESOF (electronic shift-on-fly) technology, enabling engagement of the 4×4 or 4X2 mode on the move, with high fuel efficiency at 14.1kmpl.
The Safari Storme’s rigid ladder frame chassis constructed with advanced hydro-formed members for high structural strength, adds robustness, enabling best load carrying capabilities, enhancing rigidity, while simultaneously reducing weight.
Boasting a turning circle radius of 5.4 meters, the new Safari Storme makes driving and maneuvering in tight confines, absolutely easy. The ground clearance of 200 mm, with a gradeability of 32 percent in the 4X2 mode adds to the off-roadability of the vehicle. ABS (anti-lock braking system) and EBD (electronic brake distribution) brings in the reassurance for better control of the Safari Storme on every terrain.
Crumple zones, side intrusion beams on all four doors, dual SRS airbags and the collapsible steering column keeps passengers safe from all sides.
In addition, there are features like the inertia switch and an auto engine immobilizer. In an exigency, the inertia switch automatically cuts off the fuel supply to the engine, unlocks all the doors and also switches on the hazard warning lights, warning other road users. The Safari Storme is also fitted with PES headlamps for better illumination and unwanted glare.
Looks and style An all-new upper and lower front look grill in charcoal grey and ocean grey (variant wise), gives the new Safari Storme a fresh powerful look. A new diamond motif has been adopted, to further create a classier effect, with ‘Storme’ now embossed in black, on the silver cladding of the hood of the vehicle. The roof rails of the new Safari Storme also sport subtle changes, adding to the sportiness of the vehicle.

Pick from popular cities, tata safari facelift: new spy shots show fresh design cues.
Along with Safari, the Harrier is also due a facelift with similar updates, and both SUVs are expected to launch in October.

Tata Motors has begun testing the majorly updated Safari that’s due later this year, and camouflaged test mules have been spotted on our roads once again . The upcoming Tata Safari facelift will take design inspiration from the Harrier EV concept that was previewed at Auto Expo earlier this year. A majorly overhauled interior along with a new turbo-petrol engine under the hood is also expected to be on the cards.
- Safari facelift to borrow design cues from Harrier EV concept
- New 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine could join the line-up at a later stage
- Price announcement expected around Diwali this year
Tata Safari facelift exterior design updates
With the facelift, the Tata Safari will have a completely redesigned front fascia. It will retain a split LED headlamp set-up, but the upper LED DRL will be a full-width light bar stretching across the bonnet. Meanwhile, the main headlamp cluster in the bumper below is now vertically positioned with a new trapezoidal shape. This means the bumper itself has been completely redesigned, while the grille gets new horizontal slats.
There aren’t major changes in profile, however, the Safari facelift can be seen with camouflaged wheels, which means there could be a new design for the alloys. At the rear, the SUV will likely get slimmer and connected LED tail-lamps, and a slightly tweaked rear bumper. These design updates will also make it to the ICE-powered Harrier facelift that’s also due later this year.
Tata Safari facelift interior and features
Although the interior of the Safari facelift has not been spied yet, we expect a major overhaul there too. Tata has already introduced the new 10.25-inch touchscreen on the Harrier and Safari with the Red Dark Edition , but we expect a few more changes to the dashboard design as well. Perhaps the new two-spoke steering wheel that was recently seen on the Nexon facelift test mule could also make it to the Safari facelift.
Tata Safari facelift powertrain
The Safari facelift will continue to be powered by its 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine that produces 170hp and 350Nm of torque, mated to either 6-speed manual or automatic gearboxes. Tata's new 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine which is currently under development could join the line-up at a later stage.
Tata Safari facelift production, launch plan
As we recently reported, Tata Motors will start production of the Safari facelift at its Pimpri plant from September 2023, and a market launch could be expected by October 2023, just before Diwali. Upon launch, it will continue its rivalry with the likes of the 7-seat Mahindra XUV700 , and the Hyundai Alcazar .

4. Snowmobiling To Shunut Mountain
Image Source Shunut Mountain is the absolute highest point of the entire Ural Mountains and can be quite difficult to reach because of all the snow. 6. Explore The Ural Buddhist Temple
This tour not only visits one of the most famous viewpoints in the country, but it could be that the journey would be far more exciting than the destination. Now, you would be thinking why, and the answer is that this tour does not use conventional types of transport. Instead of buses and cars, you will be riding on ATVs, a type of quad bike. Both the journey on quad bikes and the destination- the Bshad Sgrub Gling Buddhist Temple- are sure to be very exciting! Image Source Now, this may seem weird to some people, but one of the most famous statues in Russia is the Giant Lenin Head. Displayed at Ulan Ude, this is the tallest depiction of the leader ever shown, as the head towers 25 feet above the ground. Weirdly, this is one of the most popular places for newlyweds to take pictures, though that logic may be a bit flawed.
