Electronic dance-pop sensation Kah-Lo has unleashed her latest release for the world to groove out to with The Arrival EP on Epic Records.

It’s time to shine a light on the New York City-based, Nigeria-born, Grammy-nominated dance-pop sensation Kah-Lo ! On  The Arrival , Kah-Lo brings a culmination of her influences with five tight tracks that will truly captivate listeners. The songs are very empowering and will charge through your earbuds with vibrant hip-hop and house vibes that will permeate your body and make you want to move. Tasting the touch of her Nigerian roots and feeling the flow from New York in her lyrics, you can easily get lost in the anthemic sound she delivers throughout the release.

Bringing a fresh effervescence into the dance-pop hemisphere, Nigerian artist Kah-Lo offers a sound that is a celebration of self, of culture and of life. Gloriously anthemic, unique yet familiar, the work of Kah-Lo boasts universal appeal in a manner few artists can uphold.

The Grammy-nominated star is releasing her highly anticipated debut album, pain/pleasure , on Friday 8th September via Black Butter Records. The LP looks set to rise her acclaim to new found heights, featuring previously well received singles like “Karma” and “GD Woman”, with her vibrant and well-crafted blend of house, dance and pop a shining sonic gift to her increasingly adoring fan base.

On route to becoming a towering industry presence, Kah-Lo spoke to us about her introduction into the industry, the essence of her artistry, and the creation of her wonderful debut album.

How does it feel to have your debut album  pain/pleasure  almost out in the world? It feels incredible considering I’ve been a front facing artist for close to a decade. It’s nice to have a body of work out that reflects my artistry and what I’m capable of   How are you going to celebrate? By sleeping loads. I was always so eager to release an LP, I didn’t take into account how much work it would take all around. I’m definitely burnt out and could use some rest.   What has been your favourite part of this album’s journey thus far? Seeing how listeners have been responding has been the best part. I poured myself and my vulnerabilities into this project, and seeing people relate and have their own interpretations has been the most rewarding thing.   Is there a track on the album that has the most significance to you? If so, why? The title track, pain/pleasure. It was such a release for me because prior to writing that track, I didn’t know how to write about negative emotions. I think it’s one of the best songs I’ve ever written

How would you define your essence as an artist? As of right now and with this project, it’s turning negatives into positives. There’s a lot to cry about. There’s also a lot to laugh and dance about. I like to combine all three to create my art   Who is your biggest inspiration in life?  God.   What’s your favourite city to live in?  Lagos, London or New York City? This is quite tough, but as of press time, I’d have to say Lagos because I’m very homesick.   You’ve previously mentioned that you were “frustrated with the music industry” and that people were “trying to take advantage of you.” Knowing what you know now, what advice would you have given to your younger self? Lean into and listen to your instincts. They will guide you more than you know.  Also, you are who you think you are.   You initially studied journalism and then went on to work in marketing. What gave you the push to start your music career? I’ve always been drawn to music, but growing up Nigerian pre-afrobeat being a global genre, I wasn’t encouraged to consider it as a career. I didn’t push myself until after I graduated and got a job. It was a great job too, but I celebrated retirements with people, and it was either that or really take a stab at music. So, I created Kah-Lo   We know you’ve only just released an album, but what’s next on the cards for you?  For the first time, I don’t have an answer that question. I’ll take a real vacation and figure it out   What would you say to young women pursuing a career in music?  Trust yourself.

  Today, Grammy-nominated Nigerian singer-songwriter Kah-Lo releases her anticipated debut album Pain/Pleasure via Epic Records. The album arrives following previously released hit singles ‘ Runaway ’, ‘ GD Woman ’, ‘ Karma ’, and ‘ fund$ ’.

The long-awaited debut full-length from one of dance music’s most accomplished singer-songwriters, Pain/Pleasure is the culmination of Kah-Lo’s experiences throughout her career, cataloging everything from extreme bitterness to thrilling gratification. Pain/Pleasure is all about retribution for Kah-Lo; it’s a story about facing those who have wronged her and coming out on top in spite of them, regardless of the obstacles and the pain she’s faced in her quest for pleasure.

Wearing Kahlo's signature crown of flowers and a floral skirt with a Madonna-inspired bustier under a leather bolero, Hayek dutifully held up her "10" flash cards and even got lightly spanked — as one should prepare to be when attending a Madonna show.

"Thank you so much @madonna for letting be a part of your iconic Celebration Tour," Hayek wrote on Instagram, along with some pics and vids from the concert. "This unforgettable night goes in my bag of precious treasures. #VivaMexico #VivaMadonna"

Past famous guests to join the "Like a Prayer" hitmaker onstage include fellow pop queens Kylie Minogue and Ricky Martin , Stranger Things star David Harbour who appeared in Madge's 2011 film W.E ., and superfan Kelly Ripa .

Madonna's Celebration Tour has been going strong since October and finally wraps up on May 4 in Rio de Janeiro.

Madonna has just one show left on her current itinerary, a free concert on May 4 at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, that Visit Rio officials said is forecast to bring in two million fans. Entrance to the show, sponsored by Itaú Bank, is on a first-come, first-served basis on the day of the event. Fans who can’t attend will be able to watch the show broadcast live on TV Globo.

Mexico City hosted Madonna for a series of five concerts at the Palacio De Los Deportes. Last weekend, on Saturday, April 20, the singer spoke of her love of Mexican culture and Kahlo, telling the audience how she discovered the painter’s art as a young girl.

“As you know, I have a great history, a long history with Mexico,” said Madonna, who reportedly met with the Kahlo family at their home in the city neighborhood of El Pedregal.

“When I was a girl,” she said, “I discovered Frida Kahlo. I went to the only museum that existed in Detroit, and there were Diego Rivera murals everywhere, but to be honest, I was more interested in a small picture in a corner, of a beautiful woman with her hair gathered in braids and intense eyes.”

The Celebration Tour kicked off in the fall, after a delayed start due to Madonna’s hospitalization for a serious bacterial infection over the summer.

It’s been a wild ride this week for Madonna ’s Mexican fans. After much anticipation and tour postponements, the singer finally arrived in Mexico with her Celebration Tour and wowed her fans with all her hits in five concerts that sold out in minutes. As expected, each of Madonna’s performances was a high-energy spectacle featuring amazing choreography and a setlist that kept the audience on their feet all night. Not only did the Queen of Pop take everyone through her entire career with different acts, but she also surprised the audience with some on-stage guests.

For this tour, Madonna has been inviting celebrities on stage during each night of her shows, and this was no exception in Mexico. Notable appearances included actor Alberto Guerra and influencer Wendy Guevara . However, to close out her series of concerts at the Palacio de los Deportes , the singer invited one of her closest friends: none other than Salma Hayek herself. Hayek surprised the audience by appearing in a Frida Kahlo -inspired outfit, a nod to one of Madonna’s greatest inspirations, delighting the crowd with her presence.

After their touching encounter on Friday, April 26th, in Mexico City, Salma Hayek took to social media to express her gratitude. She thanked the singer of ‘Like a Prayer’ for the invitation to participate in her concert, celebrating the pop icon’s 40-year career. Clearly moved by the experience, the Oscar-nominated wrote, “Thank you so much @madonna for letting me be a part of your iconic celebration tour. This unforgettable night goes in my bag of precious treasures. #VIVAMEXICO #VIVAMADONNA 🇲🇽😍”

After four sold-out shows, Madonna concluded her Celebration Tour in Mexico City with a final performance that was memorable for many reasons. During the “Vogue” segment, which pays homage to ball culture, Madonna invited Salma Hayek to join her on stage. Salma enthusiastically cheered on the dancers as they showcased various runway walks. A highlight of the night was when Salma taught Madonna to shout, “¡Viva Mexico, cabr****!” This moment electrified the crowd at the ‘Domo de Cobre,’ filling the venue with cheers and excitement.

Salma’s look for her special night with Madonna

During her night with Madonna, Salma Hayek channeled Frida Kahlo, a clear nod to the role that earned her an Oscar nomination. She took the stage in a skirt embroidered with Mexican textiles, paired with a contemporary see-through blouse featuring lingerie-inspired details and a leather jacket, which she removed as the show’s energy intensified. Salma also paid tribute to the iconic Mexican painter with her hairstyle, wearing her hair in two braids twisted into a bun and adorned with a floral headband. This look payed homage to the Mexican painter, who is also one of the great inspirations of the 65-year-old artist.

This singer’s visit to Mexico has been deeply emotional. It not only concluded her Celebration Tour but also gave the “La Isla Bonita” singer a chance to express gratitude to her Mexican fans for all the support they have given her throughout her career. During her first concert in Mexico, Madonna expressed her appreciation by saying in Spanish, “Thank you for all these years of unconditional support. As you know, I have a great history, a long history, with Mexico.”
