What's the best travel coffee mug?

Travelers need mugs that keep their drinks piping hot. If you're one of them, you should get a travel coffee mug that would allow you to enjoy and savor your beverage without having to rush to drink it before it goes cold. Whether you choose to start your day with a freshly brewed coffee from home or you stop by your favorite coffee shop, you're going to appreciate a good reusable travel mug. We've tested several of them and the $29 Zojirushi stainless steel is our pick for best travel coffee mug for 2024.

While a travel coffee mug isn’t necessarily a huge investment, it can cost up to the $45 mark, which can feel like a lot to pay. To help you pick the right travel coffee mug and not feel like you wasted money, we tested several of the most popular travel coffee mugs to see which ones keep liquids hot longest, protect against leaks and feel nice to hold -- and look at. These are the seven best travel coffee mugs of 2024.

Best travel coffee mugs

Best overall travel mug, zojirushi stainless steel mug.

Admittedly, sometimes choosing the "best" model of a given product is a matter of extreme nuance, but in this case, it wasn't even close. Zojirushi's sleek travel mug was the top performer in every possible metric. After 5 hours, the liquid was still piping hot. The screw-on lid was infallible and yet easy to drink from, with a spring-loaded button that opens the lid, and a lock feature to prevent it from being jostled open when in the closed position. (Let it be a testament to my faith in these mechanisms that I put the Zojirushi full of coffee in an overnight bag along with my clothing for a train ride out of town.) Regardless of this additional measure of security, the slim design made it easy to operate one-handed while not risking control of the mug. For the aesthetically conscious, the Zojirushi stainless mug comes in a variety of sizes, colors and patterns.

A close second for under $30

Miir flip traveler.

Along the same metrics, the Miir Flip Traveler was the clear runner-up to Zojirushi. After 5 hours, it only had lost 10 degrees beyond what the Zojirushi had maintained, but this was a solid 10 degrees hotter than almost any other model on this list. Its screw-on lid also kept all the liquid inside the mug, even when given the roller coaster treatment. The "flip" mechanism is basically a plastic flap that covers and plugs into the opening for sipping. Because the modest flap is so successful at managing leaks it wasn't as easy to flip open one-handed, but then again there's a lot less lid in your face when you go to take a sip. At half the cost of the Zojirushi, with several size and color options, this would be an excellent choice for those looking for a solid travel mug on a smaller budget.

Miir Travel Coffee Mug in Green

Best variety of sizes, colors and features

Yeti rambler.

Yeti is a trusted brand in insulation, making everything from large coolers to picnic wine tumblers . It's no surprise that its travel coffee mug offering is also a worthy investment. Its Rambler series mugs are shatterproof, and double-walled, with a twist and press-on lid which includes a sliding piece to allow you a sip.

While not as hot as the above models, the liquid in the Yeti was decidedly still quite warm after 5 hours. Overall, screw-on lids tended to be more leakproof in this lineup, so Yeti's lid wasn't perfectly leak-proof, although little more than a dribble escaped. (I wouldn't be packing it among my clothing, just in case.)

Yeti has the widest variety where size and features are concerned, offering hot mugs in 10, 14, 20, 24 and 30-oz options, in about a dozen colors, and being among the only brands here to offer travel mugs with handles. Yeti's 20-oz Rambler also offers a tapered bottom with a high handle, formatted perfectly for your car's drink holder.

Yeti Rambler

Best budget travel mug

Contigo west loop.

Good news for the travel-mug curious, or those with a tendency to lose things like travel mugs, Contigo's inexpensive West Loop model was also among the best performers on this list and might be something you just find on the shelf at your local department store or pharmacy. Utterly leakproof, the West Loop was on par with heavy-hitters Yeti and S'well in its ability to keep coffee relatively hot. Its contour is also especially user-friendly, with a narrow neck that makes for both a solid grip and easy one-handed operation with an auto seal function that includes a button at the back of the bottle that reveals the opening for sipping on the lid. A locking mechanism on the lid keeps the hole closed even if the auto seal button gets bumped. Its colorful models are a little more expensive, but a basic black model will cost you little more than $15, making it one of the best value mugs on this list.

contigo mug

Best travel mug for espresso drinks

In the spirit of full disclosure, this KeepCup mug isn't intended for long-term insulation, nor is its simple press-on lid designed to be airtight, but just look at it. For those whose daily coffee beverages top out at 6 ounces, and aren't meant to be sipped indefinitely, this glass number is the perfect vessel for a cappuccino, or other espresso drink, with a built-in cork band to serve as a heat sleeve and an attractive glass cup that still allows you to witness your foam art. Additionally, unlike all of the other models here, it is microwave-safe, which is another good way to keep your coffee hot for multiple hours.

Keep Cup Mug

Best travel mug with top handle

Hydro flask flex sip.

According to legend, the first people to climb to the peak of Denali did so with only a cup of hot chocolate for sustenance. While this move isn't recommended, if your to-go coffee or other hot beverage is likely to be swinging from a backpack, Hydro Flask's model with a top handle is an ideal choice. Hydro Flask is another brand whose products are known for top-performing insulation, and this Hydro Flask model was second to the Zoshirushi in terms of its ability to maintain temperature. The screw-on top creates nearly leakproof conditions. The upper part of the lid twists easily to reveal the slot for sipping, this is also what makes it only nearly leakproof, as the twisting sip mechanism tended to loosen the lid at the base somewhat.

Hydro Flask Travel Mug in Blue

Best design

S'well tumbler.

The S'well line of tumblers looks, feels and operates very similarly to the Yeti Rambler, even coming to within a degree of temperature variation after both 3 and 5 hours: not quite hot, but still quite warm, relying on double-walled insulation and a twist and press-on, vacuum seal lid. Also like Yeti, it is very nearly leakproof and perfectly easy to operate in one hand. While the S'well line of tumblers has far fewer size options than the Yeti, what it has in abundance is a large array of attractive designs, with several marble, geode and wood finishes for a unique touch.

How we tested travel mugs

A travel coffee mug must do at least 2 things extremely well: keep your coffee hot, and keep it from spilling all over your bag/car/desk. Additionally, matters of size, aesthetics, ease of cleaning and one-handed operability may be factors to consider. Our list was assembled based on CNET's previous picks, those that have been well-vetted by other review sites and appear repeatedly on best lists, and best-selling and consistently highly-rated models at major retailers such as Amazon, Bed Bath & Beyond and Target.

Most travel coffee mugs claim to keep liquids "hot" for about 5-6 hours. To test this, I filled each of the models here with 170-degree liquid and measured the temperature after both 3 hours and 5 hours. Lids for travel mugs tend to fall in 1 of 2 camps, either some sort of threaded, screw-on mechanism or else a plastic and rubber twist/press-on lid that creates a vacuum seal. To test for leakproofness, I repeatedly upended each mug while full, looking for even a hint of a dribble.

Best travel mugs compared

Travel mug faqs, are travel coffee mugs dishwasher-safe.

It is mostly recommended to wash travel mugs and their lids in the sink with warm, soapy water. Of the models listed here, only the Yeti and Contigo give their full blessing as being dishwasher safe. Miir suggests that its Flip Traveler is dishwasher safe, but with an asterisk, recommending sink washing as a better practice to not ruin its exterior. Zojirushi, Keep Cup, Hydro Flask and S'well all are marked as not dishwasher safe.

Are travel coffee mugs good for the environment?

All of the travel mugs included here are BPA-free, which is a highly chemically processed form of plastic. To that degree, they are environmentally safe, and to the degree that they reduce the number of paper, plastic and styrofoam disposable cups, they are extremely good for the environment.

St. Petersburg, Florida, is a waterfront city on the peninsula facing Tampa Bay.

Most people refer to this city as St. Pete, and the St. Pete Beach residents were so adamant about shortening the name that they formally voted to change it.

St. Pete and St. Pete Beach are two different cities, as is Clearwater and the nearby larger city of Tampa.

Combined, the Tampa-St. Pete – Clearwater area is one of the largest metro regions in the country.

While this region is home to 2.8 million people, St. Pete is home to nearly 260,000 of them.

Staying in Tampa and St. Petersburg has two different experiences.

If being close to the beach is important, then St. Pete is for you.

If you want a more urban experience, head for Tampa.

St. Pete is also a little livelier than Tampa, with great entertainment districts on the water, while Tampa offers more cultural amenities and a larger landscape to explore.

St. Pete is closer to Clearwater.

Tampa is closer to everything else that isn’t the beach.

This metro region, including Sarasota County, is a popular place for winter snowbirds looking to escape the harsh winters.

They are usually retired people who spend time relaxing in the warm weather and attending social engagements.

While St. Pete has more senior citizens demographically, it’s known for its entertainment districts downtown on the bay and as a party town.

You really can’t go wrong staying anywhere in St. Pete/Tampa/Clearwater region, but let’s explore St. Pete, and you can review our articles on the other two cities to see which works best for you.

  • Warnings & Dangers in St. Petersburg

OVERALL RISK: MEDIUM

St. Peterburg is bucking the national trend of increased violent crime at a concerning rate. While there's still work to be done, violent crime is actually down 68% over the past five years. With so much to do and see here, the risk is worth the reward, but there's not much of a risk if you follow along with the advice in this article.

TRANSPORT & TAXIS RISK: LOW

The Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) runs the local fixed-route bus system. You can also use ferries to get across the bay. For those staying downtown, you'll have a trolley to help you get around. The Sun Runner bus has its own lane to take you to the beach faster than driving. You can also use taxis and rideshares or get your own rental car. All options are low risk.

PICKPOCKETS RISK: LOW

Just 17 pickpockets were reported in 2021, which is a number that surprised me - and I used to live in this area. There are a lot of crowded spaces and busy restaurants, so just use standard safety advice, like carrying only what you need and keeping your purse or wallet close to you when sitting down. Don't hang your purse over the back of the chair at a restaurant.

NATURAL DISASTERS RISK: MEDIUM

You'll need to be vigilant from June through November because that's when Hurricane Season is underway. August through October tend to be the more active months. Summer will bring thunderstorms, with flash flooding and intense lightning being the biggest risk. Winters are usually low-risk.

MUGGING RISK: MEDIUM

One of the more concerning statistics I found was the robbery rate in St. Pete. While the robbery rate is just 13% higher than the national average, 77% of those robberies were in public places - known as highway robberies. Treat this with a medium risk, just out of an abundance of caution.

TERRORISM RISK: MEDIUM

Any metro area this large will get a medium risk, plus with the port activity, there's another increased value risk. There is a lot of security at the local level, from the Coast Guard, Border Patrol, and federal levels.

SCAMS RISK: LOW

Scams in St. Pete focus mainly on locals and the elderly. Watch out for rental scams, too, if you choose to get a condo or home instead of staying at an established hotel. Don't use third-party websites like Craigslist and book through a local travel agency, so you'll ensure the right rental permits and protected payment methods are available.

WOMEN TRAVELERS RISK: LOW

As a single woman, I've been to St. Pete many times by myself. You'll want to use street smarts when enjoying yourself downtown, especially if you are drinking. Go with a buddy, and don't go to a private space with someone you have just met. Of course, use caution when walking around at night and stick to well-lit streets and crowded areas.

TAP WATER RISK: LOW

The 2021 Water Quality Report is a thumbs up with full compliance and no violations. Water quality can be impacted by flooding or tropical weather, so always check the city website if you are there during a significant weather event. Sometimes the beaches can be impacted by Red Tide, which causes a terrible smell to come from the Gulf water, but rest assured that this water isn't part of the drinking water supply.

  • Safest Places to Visit in St. Petersburg

Visitstpeteclearwater.com is the official tourism website, which includes all the attractions on the peninsula side of the area.

To learn about the Tampa side, go to visittampabay.com.

The statewide tourism website is visitflorida.com.

Using official tourism sites is a safer way to search the website and avoid any fraudsters trying to steal your personal information.

You’ll also have people to talk with if you have questions instead of relying on an unknown webmaster.

The art scene is vibrant in St. Pete, with seven separate areas that blend seamlessly into one stellar downtown.

  • Waterfront Museum District: High fashion and fine art define this district.
  • Uptown Arts District: For those who love locally owned and operated businesses with local flair.
  • Central Arts District: Heavy on the art side with live music options, as well as the Florida Holocaust Museum.
  • The Edge District: Eclectic and Bohemian style region in this district filled with gastropubs and nightlife options.
  • Grand Central District: It feels older because it is, and the cobblestone streets only add to the charm of this area.
  • Deuces Live District: Explore the history and culture of the African American influences in this vivacious neighborhood. Also home to the African American Heritage Trail and the Carter G. Woodson African American Museum.
  • Warehouse Arts District: A place for serious artists to see art being made and the latest works of brilliance.

You can also view an extensive collection by Salvador Dali at the Dali Museum.

The Sunshine Skyway Bridge looks like just another major bridge over beautiful water unless you look a little closer and see the World’s Largest Fishing Pier.

You’ll have to go onto the Skyway to get to the pier.

There is a pier section at each end of the bridge.

It wasn’t built as a pier.

It’s actually the only remnant of the original bridge to cross from St. Pete over to Manatee County.

That bridge collapsed in 1980 after a freighter hit one of the supporting columns.

35 people died.

You don’t have to share that story with other people if they are scared of bridges.

The Skyway is a doozie.

St. Pete Pier is a great place to enjoy the beach and tour the Tampa Bay Watch Discovery Center with interactive and mind-blowing exhibits.

Several restaurants are located on the 26-acre property with water on three sides.

If you’re heading to the beach, the closest is going to be St. Pete Beach, and it’s worth the trip to the end of the barrier island to see what remains of Fort DeSoto and the beautiful views of the gulf.

There are also tour boats that will take you to Shell Key Preserve to find some of the best beachcombing in Florida.

  • Places to Avoid in St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg is developed in a way where the main entertainment districts and tourist destinations are near downtown.

While petty crimes and the occasional violent crime will be your main concerns there, it’s wise not to drive through random neighborhoods on the south side of the city.

Use the main arteries and stick to the areas designed to bring people in for fun.

If you travel anywhere else in St. Pete, it should be to get to the airport, to St. Pete Beach, or to Clearwater.

Avoid the city if a hurricane is headed that way.

While meteorologists can’t predict the exact path of a hurricane, the “cone of uncertainty” generally gives an idea in the week leading up to a storm of where an impact zone could be.

Cities will pre-emptively start closing down businesses, schools, and airports for safety.

Hurricane Ian in October 2022 was expected to be a “worst-case scenario” for St. Pete but took a last-minute turn into Fort Myers.

  • Safety Tips for Traveling to St. Petersburg
  • Pinellas County includes St. Petersburg, St. Pete Beach, Clearwater, and Clearwater Beach. That’s why downloading the Alert Pinellas emergency notification system is ideal for any tourist exploring this region. If you want to be covered in Tampa’s Hillsborough County, sign up for HCFL Alert.
  • You’ll also need the Pinellas Ready app if you’re visiting during Hurricane Season. This provides all the help you need to prepare for a tropical emergency, including shelters, evacuation zones, and emergency information.
  • Sign up for Alert St. Pete to get emergency notifications from St. Pete Police Department. You’ll want to be aware of traffic accidents, road closures, or criminal activity in popular areas.
  • There are a lot of homeless people in St. Pete. The city is doing ongoing work to help the homeless, but don’t be surprised if you are panhandled or see a large group of homeless people. It’s better to donate to a shelter than an individual if you are so inclined. The homeless usually aren’t aggressive, but it’s best to avoid crossing their path if you can.
  • The Sunshine Skyway Bridge is a massive, tall bridge that will shut down during high winds. This means anyone heading south will have to go “the long way” to get to Manatee or Sarasota counties. The bridge sometimes remains open with a high wind advisory, so it can get a little bumpy on the drive. Keep both hands on the wheel, and don’t speed.
  • The beaches of St. Pete and Clearwater are great, but you’ll have to pay for parking. About 30 minutes south in Manatee County, beach parking is free. Sarasota County also has free beach parking. It uses a little more gas but saves a lot in parking costs.
  • You can read the annual police report on the police department’s website to see the biggest successes and challenges of the previous year. The report is very detailed, with notable cases and arrest rates for all crimes. You can also learn about the use of force and other important safety details.
  • You will have to pay a toll to get to St. Pete Beach or to cross the Sunshine Skyway. The SunPass system will cover the tolls with a device placed in the rental vehicle. Make sure you have one of the devices when you get your car. If not, check the fine print because the toll cost is likely worked into the price of the rental car, and it might be cheaper to pay the tolls one at a time. SunPass.com will give you all the rental car brand details.
  • The Sunken Gardens are a popular place to visit near the water in St. Pete, and it’s full of aging plants that are priceless. Don’t touch or pick the plants during your visit. Stay on the path at all times.
  • Downtown parking can be tricky, especially during big events. Use the Park Mobile app to see parking locations, costs, and time limits. You can also pay through your mobile device and not worry about feeding the meter on the street.
  • So... How Safe Is St. Petersburg Really?

St. Petersburg has a broad scope of feedback when you search for safety in St. Pete online.

If you stay out of the neighborhoods, you’re on your way to a safer trip already.

When you’re in the downtown entertainment areas, don’t let the palm trees and blue water make you forget you’re in a big city.

You need to protect yourself and your stuff.

43% of all thefts in the city are related to car break-ins, so don’t leave doors unlocked or windows rolled down.

Leave the car empty, so there’s no temptation for a thief to do a smash-and-grab.

As of August 2022, the police chief gave a report to the city council and touted a 43% decrease in homicides compared to the prior year.

This is a positive change after 2021 saw increased gun violence.

Car thefts were up significantly, giving more support to my previous statement about locking your car and using the utmost safety measures.

Avoid renting a Hyundai or Kia since those are popular to steal, thanks to a social media trend that showed just how easy they are to get.

Also, 65% of the cars that are stolen are due to people leaving the keys inside.

I’ve never understood how so many people do that.

It’s a problem echoed around the country by law enforcement.

St. Pete is built around outdoor entertainment areas, but if there’s a storm brewing or lightning in the area – head inside.

Florida is the lightning capital of North America, and it’s really intense at times.

Don’t risk it – go inside.

If you are close enough to hear thunder, you are close enough to get hit by lightning – even if it’s not raining right where you are standing.

  • How Does St. Petersburg Compare?
  • Useful Information

You'll need a U.S. Visa or Visa Waiver from the U.S. State Department to get into the country from abroad. As a popular cruise ship launch point, make sure you read the cruise ship policy regarding required documents. The Visa process through the government can take months, so start planning early.

You can only use the U.S. Dollar here (USD), and you'll be challenged to find a place that requires cash. Credit cards are a safer way to protect your money and prevent fraud.

From late winter to late fall, you'll get warm or hot weather here. T-shirts, tank tops, and sundresses are almost a dress code. Winter can get chilly, and people in Florida will dress in winter gear when the temperatures drop below 65°(F). Bring a sweatshirt and jeans for the cooler days. Sunscreen and bug spray are essential items here.

St. Pete/Clearwater has its own airport, but the Tampa Airport is just across the bay. Either one has plenty of destinations. There's a smaller airport in Sarasota, about 45 minutes south, but it's unlikely you'd choose that over the bigger airports.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is important to protect your financial investment in airfare and accommodations, but you also want to be protected in case of hurricane-related cancellations. You also should get supplementary health insurance since there are a lot of adventures here that could result in accidents.

3 Reviews on St. Petersburg

We had a relaxing, fun time.

Nice place for fishing, sailing or just to hang about on a beach without any worries. Then you can take a stroll and visit some museums, art galleries or craft stores. You’ll have a lot to do for at least a few weeks while here.

Police everywhere

The beach here is breathtaking! I remember going here just for the beach with my friends. Also, there are police everywhere so I think it is safe.

I’ve been living here for a year now and I must say, it is the best decision I have ever made. For safety issues, there are dangerous crimes happening here, so be careful.

St. Pete Greenhouse

1 million cups

Brewing business innovation, 1 cup at a time.

screw on lid for travel coffee cups right handed

A weekly event for local entrepreneurs to meet, present their startups, and gain feedback from the thriving peer network of St. Petersburg’s local business community.

The Greenhouse hosts 1 Million Cups St. Petersburg from 9 to 10 a.m. every Wednesday morning. The format of these caffeinated events is simple; a presenter pitches their business concept for six minutes, followed by a twenty-minute question and answer forum.

The event is free and registration is not required.

We will follow our regular format, where 2 entrepreneurs present for 6 minutes, followed by 20 minutes of Q&A with a short break in between.

Can’t make it in person? No problem! Tune in virtually through the live stream on the 1MCSTP Facebook Page .

The program, developed by the Kauffman Foundation, is intended to “build startup ecosystems” through local networking. Each week, two early-stage businesses nationwide present their companies to a diverse audience of mentors, advisors, and fellow entrepreneurs from their local communities. After a six minute presentation, the startup founders spend twenty minutes engaged in a question-and-answer session, which encourages collaboration, feedback, and conversations that are beneficial to all in attendance.

Entrepreneurs gain insight into possible ways they can improve their businesses, gather real-time feedback, connect with a community that truly cares about their progress, and walk away feeling like they have advanced their business. The audience also learns a great deal from the presentations. Whether this is through passively listening or deeply engaging with the entrepreneurs, there is much to learn every week from these dynamic and diverse communities.

Have questions about attending? We have answers!

WHAT ABOUT THE COFFEE?

Coffee is provided for these events and is fundamental to the design; according to Kauffman, this comes from “the notion that entrepreneurs discover solutions and network over a million cups of coffee.” In St. Petersburg, coffee is been generously sponsored and provided by the locally owned and operated coffee chain,  Kahwa Coffee Roasting Company .

Our communications will be getting a revamp, stay tuned!

Fireplaces and stoves became an integral part of St. Petersburg houses due to the cold and damp climate. Regardless of the place, be it a front door or a palace, the decoration of almost every one of them is an artistic work. In our material we have tried to show the most sophisticated and striking antiques.

Ancient fireplaces and stoves, which can be seen in St. Petersburg

House of the insurance company "Russia"

screw on lid for travel coffee cups right handed

The building was erected in 1905–1907 by the architects A. A. Gimpel and V. V. Ilyashev. The first floor was taken as a retail space, in particular, before the revolution there was a music store “Ya. Becker. Pianos and grand pianos. ” On the second and third floors are located the offices of the insurance company, and above - residential apartments. A spectacular and textured look to the building was given by a combination of black, red and light grayish-pink stone. Experts note the unusual lining of the first floor, for which they used blocks of red gangut granite.

A large number of ceramic stoves made in factories in Russia, Germany and Finland, and multi-colored floors with various patterns have been preserved in the interiors of the house. According to the legend, the decorations in the parade based on different seasons were created with the personal participation of Nikolai Roerich himself - a Russian artist and mystic philosopher.

After the 1917 revolution, various state institutions, such as the LandRevebumtrest and Snabcontora, were placed in the building. At the moment there is a museum and exhibition center "Rosfoto".

Palace of Grand Duke Vladimir Alexandrovich

screw on lid for travel coffee cups right handed

Since 1920, the palace became known as the House of Scientists. Here it was possible to preserve in its original form all the interiors of the palace, the pomp of the decorations of the ceremonial halls, the majesty of the grand prince's cabinets.

One of the highlights of the place is the Moorish boudoir, where there is an exquisite fireplace with oriental ornaments and decorations. It is made of Italian marble designed by M. Mesmacher in the workshop of E. Ruggia and S. Maderni.

By the way, another fireplace can be found in the Oak Hall, whose interior has remained virtually unchanged. The walls of the dining room are covered with stucco, skillfully imitating oak carving, thanks to which the appearance of the hall reminds of the traditional national art of patterned decoration of village huts. A bright fireplace immediately attracts attention with its patterns and unusual decoration.

Menshikov Palace

At the Menshikov Palace, which is everywhere decorated with Delft ceramics, you should pay special attention.

One of the stoves is in the bedroom of Varvara Mikhailovna Arsenieva, Alexander Menshikov's sister-in-law. The tiled stove has a tiered form, like most of the palace furnaces of the time. But the uniqueness is that each individual tile represents a whole picture, and the tiles are combined into a single composition with frames and rosettes formed by their corners.

St. Petersburg City Palace of Youth

In Anichkov Palace, in the former boudoir of Empress Maria Feodorovna, a painted tiled stove was preserved.

The lining of the furnace is reproduced according to the sketch of M. Mesmacher by his students. Based on the idea of the author, the chimney is decorated with a large panel of tiles, and antique motifs dominate in the painting.

Here, the Renaissance, the Gothic and the Rococo have merged together, and the interior decoration is striking at first sight: Italian marble, refined stucco, carved wood, unique sculptures, bronze candelabra, unusual stained glass windows - and all this in Kelch mansion.

There is also a chic fireplace here: it is located in the White Hall, made of light gray Italian marble, created by Maria Lvovna Dillon - the first woman in Russia to graduate from the Academy of Fine Arts in the class of sculpture. The incomparable bas-relief of the fireplace “Awakening of Spring” emphasizes the sophistication of the whole composition.

The main pride of the House and the most famous majolica fireplace by the artist MA Vrubel - “Volga and Mikula Selyaninovich” - is located here.

The very first version of the fireplace in this story was made in the Abramtsevo workshop for the Paris exhibition in 1900 by M. A. Vrubel and P. K. Vaulin. Kamin received a gold medal at the exhibition. The very first copy, apparently, was sold, its traces are lost. And Muscovites from various museums and employees of the Museum-Reserve Abramtsevo , where there are collapsible panels on this subject, often come to the fireplace in the library. There is a panel in the Russian Museum. But the color scheme, with a general plot, is completely different. The fireplace in the house Bazhanov details in the plot most. You can distinguish numerous variations on the faces of the Sirin birds. They are all different. This is most likely one of the most recent works by Vaulin and it was not made in Abramtsevo, but here near Petersburg in his workshop around 1909.

House of bourgeois society

In addition to palaces, you can find old fireplaces and stoves in exquisite ceramic finishes and in ordinary St. Petersburg ceremonies.

One of the finest copies of the stoves is located in the House of the bourgeois society, built on the Fontanka embankment in 1910 according to the design of the architect N.K. Pryanishnikov.

The front door is decorated with a tiled stove, the decoration is made of dark blue glazed ceramic tiles, and the facade is decorated with a decor in the form of embossed floral ornament.
