Just a stone's throw from the main road and you will find yourself in a quiet little valley with a murmuring brook, surrounded by forests, where the Šeruga family will offer you their warm hospitality.

You will be dazzled by their enthusiasm for their work, by the enchanting natural setting, by the natural materials used throughout the property, by lovingly prepared food that follows the tradition of our ancestors. All the food is grown in a way that is nature-friendly and also friendly to people. This is the true attraction of the farm: the Šerugas live their lives with love towards nature, towards their guests and towards themselves.  

The biggest reward for the owners is the satisfaction of their guests, but the farm has also received several prominent awards for architecture, gastronomy and maintaining tradition. In 2001 the farm was accepted in the elite association of Houses of Tradition and is recommended in all major tourist guides.

Šeruga Valley is charming in all seasons. In the Spring, chestnuts blossom at the front of the house; in the Summer, there’s always freshness wafting up from the stream; in Autumn, the forest is dressed in a thousand and one colours; and in the Winter, you’re dreaming awake of snowy fairy tales huddled up near a warm baker’s oven. Nature is like a girl: sometimes capricious, other times friendly, but always beautiful. “We are so lucky to live in its embrace and share this beautiful piece of the world with you. During your vacation’s walks, you’ll be able to rest in the shade on the banks of a rippling stream; you’ll find numerous beautiful places, and on return, you’ll enjoy the delicacies of our always fragrant cuisine.”

Farm access:  Access: from the highway Ljubljana-Zagreb you turn to Otočec where waymarks lead you. When driving on the road Novo mesto-Šentjernej drive to Ratež and then to the village Sela.

Seruga Tourist Farm

To describe Seruga – stunning, authentic, beautiful, natural, welcoming and comfortable – all are words which spring to mind. Run for many years by Lili and her husband and their son and daughter, there was originally a mill on site which provided bread to the nearby area. The mill was burned down during WWII and later the farm was totally rebuilt. It sits close to the rolling hills of the unspoilt Dolenjske region, yet is just over an hour from Ljubljana.

Rooms are spacious and comfortable and the Granary Cottage is in true ‘Hansel and Gretel’ style.

The family dogs and cat will be seen around the grounds and a little stream with trout trickles through the woodland where deer can often be spotted.
