Stadium tour.
Very good stadium tour taking in the changing rooms, entrance lobby, Royal box, hospitality box with good info from our guide. The tour lasts about 75 minutes and is well worth it, unfortunately we couldn’t go through the tunnel onto the pitch due to building works so that is an added bonus when the work is finished.
The tour guide, Stevie, was simply amazing. Great sense of humour, very witty and entertaining. 5 stars for the guide. 15 people group managed well. Not too crowded. The stadium itself is beautiful, I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 because due to works we were not allowed on the pitch like others stadiums tour, which is the most exciting part of these kind of tours, in my opinion. I understand that this is for safety reason, obviously. But it should be mentioned before booking so that I can either accept this or reschedule for a different time when visiting Wales again. Overall a very nice experience. Write about the pitch on the booking page so nobody can complain about it.
The tour guide was excellent but we were really disappointed for our children as we couldn't go 'out' into the stadium due to the work being done to create the new attraction walking across the roof....what stadium tour do you go on where you don't get to go 'out' in the stadium....we couldn't go into any seats or pitch side down the tunnel.....very disappointing when it is a present for your 10 yr old Welsh rugby fan....we would have booked for a different time if we'd known.
You've managed to ruin the best stadium in the world, with the gentlest and most emotional crowd, with crap canned music. Go away and let us breathe, you can hear us rolling our eyes after every cheesy chorus ends! Friends telling me so on text, and I'm proud of that :)
The tour was very informative and interesting for all the family, seeing the dressing rooms, press room etc. Our tour guide was fantastic, enthusiastic and entertaining! The only negative, which unfortunately was a biggie for the kids, was that we couldn’t walk pitch side due to works on the stands and pitch. This wasn’t advised before hand, if it was, as we’re local, we would have visited on a different day. Such a shame as would have been 5 stars otherwise.
The tour was amazing! The tourguide was very friendly! We learned more about hoe it is to play rugby professionaly.
Wales Millennium Principality Stadium Tours and Tickets
Last Updated on May 11, 2023
As part of my world stadiums tour, the most recent visit was to the Wales Millennium Stadium (now renamed the Principality Stadium ). So let’s take a look at the Millennium Stadium tours and show you what’s to expect.
Table of Contents
Why Do the Millenium Stadium Tour?
This is an extremely unique and special stadium when you consider the fact that the stadium is the only one of its kind in Europe, which is built in the middle of a city centre.
Every other major sports stadium in Europe is on the outskirts or outside the city it is in.
With the Millennium Stadium, it is placed smack bang in the middle of the city centre, placed between the train station and the castle.
From Cardiff Central train station it is literally a one minute walk to the stadium! In other words, it’s very accessible and very easy to find.
Is It Called the Millennium Stadium or the Principality Stadium?
The original name is the Millennium Stadium and in reality, a lot of people still call it by this name. In recent years though, the name officially changed because it is now sponsored by the Principality Building Society, hence the name change.
From having lived in Cardiff for 10 years myself, I found that more people tend to call it by its original name, the Millennium Stadium, but this might perhaps change over time.
Our Experience
Rugby and Football at the Millennium Stadium
The stadium was built and finished in 1999 and is now home to the Welsh national rugby team .
The Welsh football (soccer) team do not use this stadium and play their home games at the Cardiff City ground, because it is believed that not enough fans would fill and use the stadium for football games, given the stadium’s capacity of just under 75,000 fans.
The stadium tour itself is fascinating, one example being the definite differences in design between the home and away changing rooms.
The home changing rooms have been designed to create a den-like atmosphere so that players can psyche themselves up.
The away changing rooms, on the other hand, are quite different in design and somewhat more basic in style, designed to give the away team less comfort.
Speedway at the Stadium
The stadium hosts a number of different events annually and, on the day we visited, the stadium was set up ready for the annual British Speedway Grand Prix .
The stadium also hosts the Wales Rugby 6 Nations home games, concerts and the Monster Jam big truck series.
Brief History of the Stadium
The stadium itself had to be turned around to fit in between the existing buildings, making the job of making this sizeable stadium very costly and a complex project.
The final cost was over GBP £120 million, with around 1/3rd of that cost private funding. It was in September 2015 that the name change came about to the Principality Stadium.
Personally, despite all of the money, this will bring into the stadium, I wonder how much money is lost in not leaving the name as the Wales Millennium Stadium, given how strong that is as a brand name.
Do the tour and you will have a chance to sit in the same seats as the managers and players do for the press conferences.
This normally hectic and crowded room after a match is a part of the guided tour and worth seeing and a great photo opportunity.
The tour overall took approximately one hour and the tour guide was clearly very knowledgeable and very informative. Whatever your mobility, this is a relatively easy tour to do and I would certainly recommend it!

Cardiff City Stadium Tour – Review With Pictures
Cardiff City Stadium is the home of Welsh Football. Reasons to take a Cardiff City Stadium Tour;
- Home of Wales National Team
- Home of Cardiff City FC
- Visit the Kit and Dressing Rooms
- Sit in the Cardiff City FC Boardroom
- See rare Cardiff FC Memorabilia
It’s possible to take a stadium tour however, they don’t run to a schedule. For this reason, you must organise a stadium tour in advance. The cost is £35 for up to 6 people therefore it’s best to visit with friends.
Cardiff City Stadium is in western Cardiff, less than 2 km from Cardiff Central. You can easily walk, alternatively, take the train all the way to Ninian Park station which is a 5 minute walk away. If you’re arriving by car, the A4232 runs beside it. For this reason, when Cardiff City aren’t playing it’s a popular park and ride location.
Cardiff City Stadium Tour Meeting Point
When you organise your tour online, you’ll be given a time to start the tour. The meeting point is main reception of the Grand Stand. Inside is a waiting area beside a small trophy cabinet.
Fred Keenor Statue
In front of the stand is a statue of Fred Keenor. Who is Fred Keenor? Fred Keenor was Cardiff City captain when they beat Arsenal 1-0 to win the FA Cup in 1927. To this day, he is the only Cardiff City captain to lead his team to an FA Cup victory. In addition, Cardiff City are the only Welsh team to have won the FA Cup. As you take the tour, you may also pass through the Fred Keenor lounge. Finally, I visited shortly after the Emiliano Sala tragedy. As a result, there were several wreaths and mementos left in his honor.
Cardiff City Stadium Facts
The stadium has a capacity of 33,280 which is the second largest in Wales after the Principality Stadium . Cardiff City Stadium is home of both the Welsh national football team as well as Cardiff City FC. It opened in 2009 and replaced Ninian Park. The first game played here was Cardiff City against Celtic which finished 0-0. When Wales first played here they beat Scotland 3-0. However, the most famous game to be played here was the UEFA Super Cup between Seville and Real Madrid. Lastly, concerts are also performed here with legends such as Rod Stewart and Bon Jovi past performers.
Yellow Seats
Can you spot the yellow seats in the stadium? Riverside AFC wore yellow and this is the team which went on to form Cardiff City.
Directors Box
As part of the stadium tour you’ll visit the directors box. It’s debatable whether this is the best view in the stadium but what’s certain is that the seats are certainly the most comfortable. You’re welcome to sit where the owner, Vincent Tan sits.
Executive Boxes
What is a VIP Cardiff City experience like? As part of the tour you’ll discover exactly that. As a matter of fact, you’ll visit an executive box as well as see what the view is like from their seats.
Cardiff City FC Museum
In 1927 Cardiff City became the first non English team to win the FA Cup. To this day, no other team outside England has ever won the FA Cup. They beat Arsenal 1-0 in the final at the old Wembley Stadium . You will see memorabilia from this historic victory around the stadium. Original shirts from this game are on display in the directors boardroom.
Of all the stadium tours around the world, Cardiff City is the only one which invites you to the kit room. And what a kit room it is! Did you ever wonder what happened to the shirts players exchange at the end of a game? At least some of them are put on display in the kit room. Additionally, there are a few other types of memorabilia on display. As a matter of fact, the Cardiff City kit room could be the closest thing they have to a museum.
The Cardiff City boardroom features office chairs surrounding a grand desk. For this reason, it’s a top spot to take you photo during the tour. Be sure to view the memorabilia on display. This reminds the boardroom members of the great stadium they play in as well as their successes and star players.
Managers Office
When I visited, Neil Warnock was the current Cardiff City Manager. After the game he would invite the opposition manager into his office for a glass of wine and a chat. A huge picture of Cardiff Bay and the city is displayed on the wall. Finally, did you know Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was once Cardiff City FC manager?
Away Team Dressing Room
The away team dressing room is not bad! You’re welcome to explore the dressing rooms as well as the bathroom section. Of course, if you wish you can take photos.
Home Team Dressing Room
As there is no official tour schedule at Cardiff City stadium, you’ll encounter people working as you take your tour. In fact, the kit staff were organising the home team dressing room when I visited. If I had visited 30 minutes later I could have taken the perfect picture with the shirts on display. Nonetheless, both Cardiff City and Wales have access to a very homely dressing room.
Players Tunnel
As you walk through the players tunnel you know you’re in the home of the Bluebirds, Cardiff City. As well as the blue colors and logos, huge images of the current players are on display to the visiting team.
Pitchside and Dugouts
To stand pitchside is one of the best moments of the tour. This is where Neil Warnock has been so animated for the last 2 years during match days. Make sure you take your Instagram photos pitchside as well as sat in the dugout.
Flash Interview Room
Have you seen the players and managers giving quick interviews after the match? It’s actually a small room with a sponsor board hung up. You’re welcome to take a short YouTube video here. In addition, as you’ll be on a private tour you can spend as long as you want here.
The current Cardiff City manager makes his press conferences from the Press Room. You may sit in the managers seat and pose for your photo.
Cardiff City Football Club Superstore
It’s worth visiting the Cardiff City Superstore as the merchandise is excellent value. As well as selling football merchandise, you can also choose a souvenir of your visit to Cardiff. How about buying something to wear on the tour?
How to get to Cardiff City Stadium from Cardiff Central
Firstly, it’s possible to walk to the stadium which take around 25 minutes. Alternatively, you can take bus 95 from Wood Street in front of Cardiff Central. Alight at Jubilee Park and you’ll see the stadium. Enjoy your visit to Cardiff City Stadium.
Visiting Cardiff? Why not take the Principality Stadium Tour ? Alternatively, head to North Wales and stay in the West Arms Hotel .

Cardiff City Stadium
Club: Cardiff City FC | Opening: 2009 | Capacity: 33,338 seats
History and description
Cardiff City Stadium officially opened on the 22nd of July 2009 with a friendly match between Cardiff City and Celtic. It replaced Cardiff’s old ground Ninian Park, which by the early 2000s had become severely outdated.
Plans for a new stadium had already been approved in 2005, but it had taken until 2007 for construction to begin due to the club’s financial problems.
Cardiff City Stadium has recently hosted various internationals of the Wales national team as the Millennium Stadium was deemed too large for the occasion.
In 2013, following the club’s promotion to the Premier League, Cardiff announced plans to increase capacity to just under 33,500 seats by adding a second tier to the Ninian Stand. Despite the club’s relegation at the end of the season, works went ahead anyway and were completed before the start of the 2014-15 season.
In 2015, Cardiff City Stadium hosted the UEFA Super Cup between Champions League winner Real Madrid and Europa League winner Sevilla (2-0).
How to get to Cardiff City Stadium
Cardiff City Stadium is located slightly more than a mile east of Cardiff city centre and Cardiff Central Rail station. The walk takes about 30 minutes.
The closest rail station is Grangetown, to which regular trains run from Cardiff Central. The journey takes less than 5 minutes and the walk from the station to the stadium a further 5 to 10 minutes.
If arriving by car, leave the M4 motorway at junction 33 and take the A4232 toward Cardiff/Barry. After about 6 miles take the exit toward the B4267. There will be signs guiding you to the stadium.
Address: Leckwith Road, Cardiff, CF11 8AZ
Eat, drink, and sleep near Cardiff City Stadium
The area around Cardiff City Stadium is mainly residential and there is little around in terms of eating and drinking, which can therefore better be done in Cardiff’s city centre.
There are neither any hotels in the immediate vicinity of the stadium, but various options on the western side of Cardiff’s city centre or near Cardiff Central, from where one can walk or take a train to the stadium. Click here for an overview of hotels in Cardiff.
Cardiff City Tickets
Tickets for Cardiff City games can be bought online , by phone +44 (0) 845 345 1400, or at the ticket office at the stadium.
If tickets remain available, these can also be bought at the ticket office on the day of the match. Cardiff rarely sells out in the Championship, but does so regularly in the Premier League.
Cardiff have divided their home matches into three pricing categories. Tickets for category C matches, the cheapest, range in price from £27.00 for a seat behind the goal to £38.00 for a seat at the main stand. Tickets for category A matches, the most expensive, range in price from £31.00 to £42.00.
You can find a seating plan here .

Circus Extreme comes to Cardiff this spring on incredible 2024 UK tour
The circus spectacular features impressive performances, awe-inspiring stunts and more from talented performers
- 16:00, 25 APR 2024
This spring, prepare to be wowed as international touring circus show Circus Extreme returns to Cardiff as part of its incredible 2024 UK world tour.
The vibrant circus extravaganza will be at Cardiff City Stadium for a limited time, from Friday, May 10 to Sunday, June 2, 2024.
Featured acts include the Ayala Troupe performing their award-winning high wire act, which has previously been showcased at the world-famous Monte Carlo circus festival.
Joining them is the EXTREME freestyle motocross team, bringing their jaw-dropping stunts to the big top, as pilots fly through the air displaying cliff-hanger stunts including the 'Superman' and 'nac-nac'. Battling for air space, these resident riders are sure to get the adrenaline pumping as they defy gravity with incredible mid-air backflips.
The stunt riding team will also perform the Globe of Death, an incredible death-defying act which will put the performers under G-force similar to that of a fighter pilot. Watch as they loop vertically and horizontally, all while encased in a mesh sphere - it's certainly one for the petrolheads!
Walking the slack wire is Ukrainian performer Tatiana Kundyk, who previously appeared on Croatia's Got Talent. She'll take to the big top to showcase her mind-blowing balancing skills, performed in a distinctive style for this production.
Meanwhile, Henry the Prince of Clowns - a celebrated figure in the circus - will be keeping the audience amused throughout the show.
British legend Laura Miller will also showcase her internationally-renowned aquatic aerial ring act at the circus, uniting the elements of fire, water and air. Witness her fantastic aerial hoop skills, grace and beauty, combined with visually stunning lights and rousing music to transport viewers into a sci-fi world.
On top of all this, there will be thrilling airborne stunts by the unmissable aerial duo Polischuk - one of the few acts in the world to perform such mid-air stunts. Watch in awe as they hold each other by their teeth, high up in the big top.
Finally, the show will see world record holder and juggler Tony Garcia merge his hand skills with energy and fire, together with a troupe of dancers and musicians - all performing with unique twists.
Don't miss this circus spectacular
So, whether you’re a petrolhead, theatre-goer, thrill-seeker, or just want to experience an awesome show, make sure to get your tickets fast.
The show will run for approximately two hours and is housed in one of Europe's largest touring big tops, which is climate controlled and features comfortable theatre-style seating.
It’s time to awaken your soul and stir the imagination of your family!

New York’s quintessential son is one of the greatest musicians of our time. Joel’s songs have acted as personal and cultural touchstones for millions of people across five decades. Joel’s string of 33 Top 40 hits, all of which Joel has written himself, began with 1973’s autobiographical ‘ Piano Man ’. Written while Joel was playing in a Los Angeles lounge. In 2016, the Library of Congress selected ‘Piano Man’ for preservation in the National Recording Registry for its ‘cultural, historic and artistic significance’. The hits have continued for almost five decades, with three of Joel’s Top 40 songs – ‘ It’s Still Rock and Roll To Me ’, ‘ Tell Her About It ’ and ‘ We Didn’t Start The Fire ’ – peaking at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 charts and 23 Grammy nominations awarded to Joel since he signed his first recording contract in 1972.
