Since then, the nation has been gripped by Taylor Fever.
Swifties flocked to Melbourne's AC/DC Lane to pose for a photo in front of posters welcoming the singer to the city.
Sienna Sims and Bianca and Georgia Carrocci flew in from Perth on Wednesday morning and said they were "very excited" ahead of Friday's show.
They spent their time in Melbourne shopping and making friendship bracelets at the Taylor-themed Queen Victoria Night Markets during the week.
All the way from Wellington, New Zealand, Sirma and Helen had tickets to Swift's Saturday night show but were taking the opportunity to have a "girls' weekend" in Melbourne.
"Just the idea that you can go away with some friends, wear costumes and have fun, have a good weekend away," Helen said.
"[Taylor Swift] is really phenomenal I think. She's a great songwriter and a good role model."
The Eras Tour is not stopping in New Zealand so Kiwi fans had to fork out and travel to Sydney or Melbourne to see the show.
Merch Lines
Queues for the Eras tour merch tents fluctuated throughout the day on Friday. At some points, Swifties were waiting for more than an hour and a half, and at other times there was no line at all.
Paige from the Sunshine Coast and Minni and Shally from Sydney lined up at 10am for Eras Tour merchandise outside the MCG.
The merch stands opened half an hour early at 11.30am with massive queues already forming.
With flights, accommodation, tickets to two shows and merchandise they estimated the weekend cost $2000 each.
But the longtime Taylor fans (since 2008) say it's all worth it.
"We're really excited to hear the old music because it's been a while since we've heard it live," Minni said.
"It'll be great - we're very excited."
Taylor's blue crew neck sweater was one of the more popular items at Melbourne's merch stands. Its resale value spiked to two or three times the price on sites like eBay.
Swifties from far and wide travelled to Melbourne to see their idol, and there's no doubt the star's string of Sydney shows this weekend will attract the same amount of international fans, if not more.
Tragedy struck one Queensland family on their way to see Taylor Swift last week when a road collision left a 16-year-old dead and a 10-year-old girl in a critical condition.
About 300,000 fans are expected to make their way to Accor Stadium over four nights, and Transport NSW recommends catching public transport to avoid major traffic to and from the concerts.
To get there from Central Station, you can catch express and limited-stop trains to Olympic Park, which is a ten minute walk from the stadium.
There will also be major event buses running every five to 20 minutes between 2.42pm and 6.33pm, depending on the route on Friday and Monday.
On Saturday and Sunday, the buses will run between 3.05pm and 6.38pm.
The last return bus leaves Olympic Park at midnight on all four nights.
There is a designated drop-off zone along Australia Avenue and a pick-up area in the P6 car park off Australia Avenue. Entry is free after 10.30pm.
There are also taxi ranks on Herb Elliott Avenue near Park Street.
Parking at Accor Stadium is already booked out on Friday and Saturday and spaces are limited for Sunday and Monday nights.
Find all the details on the Transport NSW website .
In Melbourne, it was a chaotic start to the day for those travelling from country Victoria, with industrial action shutting down trains on all regional lines.
If you're flying into Sydney, expect a few Taylor Swift singalongs while in the air.
Friendship Bracelets
Judging by the crowds of Swifties who gathered around the MCG hours before the concerts last weekend, the grounds around Accor Stadium will be the prime location to swap friendship bracelets .
Patyn and Asya from Tasmania and Kylah and Amy from Melbourne bonded over their love of Taylor while swapping friendship bracelets outside the MCG last Friday.
Emily from the Bega Valley made 2000 to swap with other fans and ended up giving away 1500 to others who couldn't make their own.
"I sent a bunch to people who couldn't make them, so I've kept about 500 for myself for the shows," she said.
Some fans made their Eras Tour costumes from scratch , like Southern Highland News reporter Briannah Devlin.
Others carefully curated their outfits with sparkly purchases.
Mega fans Kim Malizon from Canberra and Jake Wagenfeller from Adelaide are going to all seven shows. They met through a Taylor Swift Facebook page in 2018 and travelled around Australia for Swift's Reputation tour that year.
Jake's costume was inspired by King Of My Heart while Kim's t-shirt has a photo of her meeting Swift.
"It's been five and a half years since she was last here, so it feels like I'm seeing her for the first time all over again," Jake said.
"To experience a show of this scale at the MCG... it gives you goosebumps. It's really exciting."
Kim said it meant a lot to continue to support Swift.
"I've been a fan since 2007 so to still be here and as a bigger fan means everything," she said.
Melbourne's Nathan Tagle and Kim Talent were sparkling bright in the sun outside the MCG.
Nathan's outfit was inspired by Taylor's Reputation bodysuit and took him five weeks to make, costing $250 in materials.
He's not seeing Taylor in Melbourne, instead heading to Sydney this weekend.
Meanwhile Kim's look is Lover inspired and they're both "very excited" for the shows.
Taylor-gaters
MCG CEO Stuart Fox asked 'Taylor-gaters' , those without a ticket, to steer clear of the stadium last week.
That didn't stop tens of thousands of fans from gathering outside during the concert, singing along and dancing outside the stadium.
Some desperate Swifties were also trying to find last-minute tickets.
Michelle and Swift were sitting outside the MCG on Friday afternoon holding signs that read 'manifesting a miracle - 2 tickets'.
"We've been trying [to get tickets] since last year," Michelle said.
"It's been really difficult getting on Ticketek and all that, but we're going to keep trying."

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour hits Australian stadiums
The Australian leg of The Eras Tour is underway, with Taylor Swift playing the first of three sold-out Melbourne concerts on Friday night, to be followed by four in Sydney.
The crowd was reported at 96,000 for Taylor Swift's first concert at the MCG, making it the biggest crowd she's ever performed in front of at any stadium in the world. The remaining two shows at the MCG are back to back, on Saturday and Sunday night at the iconic Melbourne stadium.
Taylor Swift mania then heads north to Sydney to play four concerts at Accor Stadium at Sydney Olympic Park, with her first show on Friday 23rd February , followed by shows on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. See the full schedule below and click through to see further event details including times, maps, directions and accomodation.
The Eras Tour 2024 Australian Schedule
The tour is one of the most anticipated in Australian concert history, with more than four million people attempting to purchase in excess of 450,000 tickets to her five concerts when they first went on sale. An extra show was added in both Melbourne and Sydney and they too sold out in no time, with prices ranging from $79.90 for GA to VIP packages at $1249.90. Across the globe, the tour has now grossed more than one billion dollars.
The Eras Tour Crowd Capacity
It was initially reported that each of the three concerts at the MCG were expected to be attended by about 86,000 fans, however the figure was announced as 96,000 for the first concert. While this is still short of the almost 110,000 that attended each of the two Ed Sheeran concerts last year, the MCC likens Taylor Swift’s concerts to three consecutive AFL Grand Finals.
Sheeran played his Mathematics Tour concerts ‘in the round’, meaning the stage was in the middle of the stadium with every seat able to be filled, plus seating across most of the arena. The Eras Tour’s large stage is set at one end of the stadium with a long runway, meaning seats behind the stage are unavailable and less of the arena can be filled.
The Eras Tour is believed to be one of the biggest operations the MCG has staged. Brunton Avenue is closed for more than a week as 70 trucks bump in Swift’s stage and then bump it out afterwards. More than 12,000 sq metres of turf is on hand to repair the damage to the ground ahead of AFL season, while more than 5,000 MCG staff will be working at each concert.
There will be no official activations around the MCG in Yarra Park for ticketless fans, however an additional 30,000 fans are still expected to be in the precinct during the concerts each night. The MCG concerts are the biggest crowds she’s played to in her career.
At Sydney’s Accor Stadium, there will be around 75,000 per night at each of the four Taylor Swift concerts, with a total of 300,000 fans attending the shows at the Olympic stadium.
Across all seven The Eras Tour concerts to be held in Australia, a total of almost 600,000 Taylor Swift fans are anticipated to be in attendance. See more concert attendance figures here .
The last time Taylor Swift toured Australia (in 2018), she played four concerts across the country - one each in Brisbane (the Gabba), Sydney (Accor Stadium - then ANZ Stadium), Melbourne (Marvel Stadium), and Perth (Optus Stadium). They were attended by a total of 230,630 fans - see more concert attendance figures here .

Impact on the MCG's playing surface
After AFL players noticed the MCG's playing surface to be “slippery and inconsistent” following Ed Sheeran's two concerts last year, MCC CEO Stuart Fox is confident in the stadium's groundskeepers ability to go ahead and repair in time for the footy, even if it was “quite confronting”.
“Running concerts are always complicated, but running a Taylor Swift concert is going to be even more complicated,” shared Fox in an interview on SEN radio.
“It’s just massive. Building the seating plan, we obviously have people on the turf, but it’s really around the stage production. Seventy semi-trucks coming onto your ground is quite confronting, and you’ve got six days of set-up, three concerts across Friday, Saturday, Sunday evening, two or three days of pack-down.”
Fox also highlighted the minimal amount of time to repair the grounds between Tay’s last Melbourne show on February 18, and the MCG’s first match of the 2024 AFL season.
“Then you’ve got to replace half the turf at a significant cost. And then we’ve got an AFL season three weeks later.”
Additionally, Fox shared that the venue plans on continuing to have “the biggest and the best” of concerts take place at the MCG twice or so a year.
“I think holding concerts are really, really important. What I love is the fact that people who don’t normally come to the MCG get to experience it,” he said.
The first game to take place after Swift’s shows will be Carlton v Richmond on March 14 .

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Has Kicked Off Again & Fans Have Noticed A Lot Of Changes To The Show
Soaliha Iqbal
The two-year-long tour began last March, and just resumed by kicking off its European leg in Paris.
As Aussies probably know by now , the performances in each city rarely vary. Though there are “surprise songs” and slight variations of costumes, for the most part Taylor’s sets are the same.
However, with the release of a whole new album just before the European leg of her tour, fans have suspected there may be some changes to the Eras tour — and it looks like they were right.
Taylor Swift’s new Eras Tour looks
Eagle-eyed fans have noticed a bunch of new outfits Taylor debuted during the Paris concert.
There’s footage of a white dress that appears to be made of pages containing lyrics from The Tortured Poets Department , and Taylor wore a new sparkly orange bodysuit for “Lover”.
Keeping on with the sparkly theme, Taylor wore a black dress with gold and white fringes, a glittering pink and blue two piece (very Barbie core), a new navy blue bodysuit for Midnights , and a pink and gold gown for Speak Now .
–a clear pic of the new speak now dress pic.twitter.com/6vifNA0ae2 — Taylor Throwbacks (@ThrowbackTaylor) May 10, 2024
She also wore a long yellow gown, and a pink dress, and changed up the slogan on the tee she wears in “22”: it now says “This IS NOT Taylor’s Version”.
Wow, it’s truly astounding how many outfits one person can wear in one show. Images: Getty.
New Eras Tour setlist
According to @tswifterastour, an unverified fan account that is remarkably accurate in its reporting on all things Eras Tour, the new official setlist for the European Eras Tour is as follows:
- Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince
- Cruel Summer
- You Need To Calm Down
- You Belong With Me
- We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together

Taylor Swift Added Four Looks To Her Eras Tour Wardrobe
All hail queen Taylor Swift, who is not messing around when it comes to her wardrobe for the long-awaited Eras Tour.
While we’ll often see big pop artists opt for a handful looks throughout their set, Taylor has smashed expectations out of the park throughout the tour so far, opting for 13 outfits throughout the evening. A very apt number, Swifties will know.
And now, the European leg of the Eras Tour has officially kicked off in Paris and, with it, Taylor has debuted two dazzling new outfits. Among them, an iridescent orange Versace bodysuit and coat to kick off the concert, a Zuhair Murad Couture custom bodysuit and Christian Louboutin Gael Boots for the Midnights era, a new black and gold fringe dress and black boots for the Fearless era, and a custom Vivienne Westwood gown emblazoned with the lyrics “I love you it’s ruining my life,” to reflect her newest album, The Tortured Poet’s Department.
So in honour of these stellar new additions, we’ve rounded up every outfit Taylor wears during the Eras Tour (so far) — including every detail of the looks.
Debut/Acoustic
The flowy dress reminded us of her more country days.
As fans would know, Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour includes sections dedicated to each of her ten albums, bar one. Her debut album Taylor Swift (also known as ‘Debut’ in the Swiftie community), doesn’t have a dedicated section in her three-hour-plus show… yet.
However, towards the end of the show she is doing an acoustic segment, which will vary from show to show. For her first show she was seen in a magenta flowy dress with ruffle sleeves that was very reminiscent of Debut era, to sing ‘Tim McGraw’ from the Taylor Swift album. Hint: on night two, she wore the same dress in green, and she has another in yellow. There is definitely a pattern here.
She followed ‘Tim McGraw’ with a moving rendition of fan favourite ‘Mirrorball’, and it’s safe to say that we would simply drown in a puddle of tears had we been there to hear Swift sing the bridge, “I’m still trying everything, to keep you looking at me.”
We’re looking TS – we are!
This look was unmistakably ‘Fearless’.
Taylor Swift’s Fearless section brought the audience right back to where she was catapulted into the spotlight, with Swift playing ‘You Belong With Me’ and ‘Love Story’ for her fans.
She donned a fringed, sparkly Roberto Cavalli mini dress, in a classic flapper-style shape with V-shaped neckline and sparkly thick straps.
She paired this with long silver Louboutin boots with their classic red bottom, and a red lip.
“This night is sparkling, don’t you let it go.”
While Speak Now didn’t get a major shout out on the set list, she did perform her iconic song from the album, ‘Enchanted’, about halfway through the night. The singer wore a full ballgown style dress, very reminiscent of the Valentino one she wore on the original tour back in 2012.
It’s designed by Nicole + Felicia Couture, featuring a low back, narrow waist, sweeping skirt. It’s also encrusted with cascading sequins and glitter, and was made by the same designer that did the ‘I Bet You Think About Me’ ballgowns for the music video.
At the Tampa, Florida, stop on her Eras Tour on April 13, Taylor wore a new romantic dress for ‘Enchanted’, choosing this floral-adorned Elie Saab number.

Taylor Swift wore a coat to her red ensemble for ‘All Too Well (10 Minute Version)’.
Taylor decided to up the ante on Red , going for four songs from this album ( including the iconic ‘All Too Well (10 Minute Version)’.
She went for a tongue-in-cheek costume for ’22’, with a take on her ‘Not A Lot Going On At The Moment’ T-shirt that she wore in the music video. This time it read ‘A Lot Going On At The Moment’.
On night two she wore a different shirt, reading, ‘Who’s Taylor Swift Anyway? Ew.’
For the rest of her Red set she wore a glittery red-and-black bodysuit that was highly elegant and sent fans into a frenzy. For the ‘All Too Well (10 Minute Version), Swift added an ombre red and black coat that reminded us of the ringleader outfit she wore in the 2013 Red tour.
There IS a lot going on at the moment for fans.
Taylor’s shirt read a different slogan on night two.

Taylor Swift wore a classic 1989 two-piece.
Leading into 1989 , we were certainly not surprised to see Taylor go in for a two-piece set, which was a staple during the original tour. She kept with the A-line mini and crop (although the skirt was a little more fitted than during the original tour).
The pink two piece was designed by Roberto Cavalli and went alongside pink glittery Louboutin ankle boots. She didn’t hold back for 1989 , especially given she won three Grammys during this era, singing ‘Style’, ‘Blank Space’, ‘Shake It Off’, ‘Wildest Dreams’ and ‘Bad Blood’.
At the Tampa show, Taylor switched the pink two-piece for a fire orange two-piece, with matching glittery boots again.

Honestly, a masterpiece.
Given the general ‘badass’ nature of the Reputation album, you will not be surprised that Taylor slayed this outfit.
She wore an asymmetrical body suit (with a short sleeve and short leg on one side and long on the other), emblazoned with snakes constricting around her body and neck. The design is custom Roberto Cavalli.
We loved how the asymmetry really gives way to that idea of duplicity and Machiavellianism, and she used those vibes to belt out ‘Ready For It?’, ‘Delicate’, ‘Don’t Blame Me’ and ‘Look What You Make Me Do’.
“I died dead” seeing this.
We feel that most Taylor Swift fans would have audibly screamed when they saw the Lover house in the background of her set for this era (if you didn’t know each room corresponds to a Taylor Swift album by colour, i.e. yellow for Fearless and grey for Folklore ).
Taylor looked iridescent in a custom Versace sequined silver bodysuit with holographic details and silver, glittery Louboutin heels. She sang six songs from the album, including ‘Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince’, ‘Cruel Summer’, ‘The Man’, ‘You Need To Calm Down’, ‘Lover’ and ‘The Archer’.
For ‘The Man’, she changed into a glittery blazer to match the boots, giving that work-chic-turned- Lover aesthetic that we know and love.
For the European leg of the Eras Tour, Taylor debuted a new addition to her Lover wardrobe, donning an orange and pink bodysuit, also custom made by Versace.
Things got whimsical for ‘Folklore’.
It’s time for Folklore era where we turn away from the glitz and the glamour in favour of something a little more cottage-core. This time, it was a dusty purple Alberta Ferretti custom gown that was embellished with lace detail and flowy sleeves.
Ferretti told Page Six Style , “I think what we have created reflects this journey where the key elements of my style stand out: lightness, femininity, romance, attention to detail and a delicate, gentle seduction.”
Mega-fans will be thanking the lord she didn’t skip over this quieter era, opting for seven songs, including ‘Betty’, ‘The Last Great American Dynasty’, ‘August’, ‘Illicit Affairs’, ‘My Tears Ricochet’ and ‘Cardigan’.
At the Tampa show, Taylor debuted this leaf-adorned green dress for the Folklore section.
Taylor Swift in this very forest-inspired green dress during the Tampa show.
We’re vibing the cottage core ‘Ivy House’ aesthetic of her ‘Evermore’ dress.
Evermore also got the gold treatment, with a total of five songs played including, ”Tis The Damn Season’, ‘Willow’, ‘Marjorie’, ‘Champagne Problems’ and ‘Tolerate It’.
For this segment she wore a marigold-yellow dress by Etro, that is in the kind of ‘rusty’ and ‘earthy’ tones of the album, with a little peplum frill and lace-front corset.
The vibes were purple on stage.
This Oscar de la Renta number blew our minds.
Next we have Taylor Swift’s album Midnights , which feels almost written for the stage. It’s upbeat, high energy and has a lot to say.
She steered clear of her iconic Midnights: 3am Tracks hits such as ‘Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve’ and ‘Paris’ and opted for the main album songs ‘Lavender Haze’, ‘Anti-Hero’, ‘Midnight Rain’, ‘Vigilante Sh*t’, ‘Bejewelled’, ‘Mastermind’ (isn’t she!), and ‘Karma’ to end the set.
The star performed ‘Lavender Haze’ in a lavender-coloured Oscar de la Renta shaggy coat over the top of a sequinned minidress. She shed the coat to sing ‘Anti-Hero’ and then made her final outfit change for the final five tracks.
She closed the show in a shimmery black bodysuit, that appeared to be dripping with jewels in a ‘Midnight’ blue-ish black colour and matching glittery Louboutin knee-high boots.
In Paris, she switched out this ensemble for a Zuhair Murad Couture custom bodysuit and Christian Louboutin Gael Boots, but stuck to the iconic Midnights colour palette of deep blues and plenty of sparkle.
All we have to say is that this show is giving “best believe I’m still bejewelled”, and she damn sure made the whole room, cough stadium, shimmer.
The Tortured Poets Department
And finally, to the most recent addition to Taylor Swift’s repertoire; The Tortured Poets Department. For this portion of the show, Taylor defied all expectations, in a stunning custom creation by Vivienne Westwood.
Much like the lyrical masterpiece that is her most recent album, the gown was emblazoned with one phrase in particular: “I love you it’s ruining my life,”
If the rest of Swift’s concert is anything to go by, The Tortured Poets Department will be receiving more spectacular outfits as the Eras Tour rolls on.

How Travis Kelce Is Supporting Taylor Swift's Return to the 'Eras Tour'
Travis Kelce is brimming with enthusiasm as his girlfriend Taylor Swift kicks off her Eras Tour in Paris.
The Chiefs tight end eagerly expressed his excitement for the event on Instagram , responding to Swift's guitarist, Paul Sidoti, who posted a snapshot of himself and Swift on stage on May 9.
Kelce commented, "Lfg!!!" (meaning "Let's F---ing Go") and added celebratory hand emojis. Sidoti's post was filled with anticipation for Swift's four consecutive shows at La Défense Arena with the caption, " The Eras Tour Europe starts tonight... Paris you're up first... who's coming?" and the hashtags #TheErasTour and #4inarow.
Kelce's comment swiftly drew attention, receiving over 2000 likes and numerous replies in less than 30 minutes. The NFL star is no stranger to Swift's concerts, having attended her shows in Singapore, Sydney, Buenos Aires, and, naturally, Kansas City, where their romance began with Kelce's smooth attempt to gift the pop star a friendship bracelet with his phone number.
Fans were quick to leave comments noting how supportive Kelce is of his girlfriend. " @killatrav supportive 👑," commented one user, while another chimed in saying, @killatrav heeeey 👋👋👋 thank you for making Taylor happy & treating her like she deserves to be treated, appreciate you ❤️." Other fans were wondering if Kelce himself would be there, leaving comments like, " @killatrav I hope you're there 🙏🏼," and " @killatrav hello be there or be square."
During their consecutive career breaks, the pair has been seen frequently together, enjoying nights out and vacations with both each other and friends. Their most recent appearance was on April 27 at a charity event in Las Vegas to support Kelce's Chiefs teammate, Patrick Mahomes. At the Mahomies Foundation Golf Classic and Gala, Kelce and Swift, both 34, entered hand-in-hand, a moment captured in an Instagram video by Mahomes.
Kelce later took the stage, revealing that he and his "significant other" decided to donate four tickets to Swift's Eras Tour as an auction item. "I think, um, I was just talking to my significant other," he announced. "And, uh, we might have one other auction item that wasn't on the docket. Has anyone heard of the Eras Tour ?" The crowd cheered excitedly in response.
