Take That's biggest career moments through the years

Everything changes but you...

Take That started their chart domination back in the early 90s including their 1993 Number 1 hit 'Relight My Fire' with Lulu - and despite a hiatus and various line-up changes, Gary Barlow , Mark Owen and Howard Donald are as popular as ever. With their latest album called ' This Life ' out now, it is supported by ' This Life on Tour ' in 2024 - and Gary's even fronting a new travel show .

Past dubious hairstyles aside, they're one of the most beloved pop groups in the UK. We've taken a look back at how they went from a teen-orientated boyband to a mature, three-piece group...

Scroll through to see Take That's biggest career moments through the years...

Starting with a line-up of five young men, Take That consisted of Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, Mark Owen, Jason Orange and Robbie Williams, with the original (short lived) name of Kick It.

Take That's original line-up of Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, Mark Owen, Jason Orange and Robbie Williams. Thankfully they changed their name and after a few unsuccessful songs in the early 90s Take That's breakthrough hit 'It Only Takes A Minute' was released. The song was a cover of a 1975 song by Taveres and reached number 7 in the charts.

In 1992 Take That had hits with 'A Million Love Songs' and 'Could It Be Magic'. The boys' follow-up single 'Could It Be Magic' quickly propelled them to super-stardom with a string of number 1s not far away.

Take That had huge success in 1993 with 'Pray', 'Relight My Fire' (featuring Lulu) and 'Babe'.

The band's success continued in 1994 with 'Everything Changes' and 'Sure'. Here they are performing at The BRITs 1994.

However, in July 1995 after countless hits, fans heard the devastating news; Robbie Williams would be leaving the band following friction with other band members. Robbie later admitted in a TV documentary in 2005, that he did some "stupid stuff" after parting ways with the band over 20 years ago, but said he didn't regret it because he was young.

The remaining members of Take That continued to perform as a quartet.

Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, Mark Owen and Jason Orange performed at The BRITs in 1996. The remaining group of four continued to tour and release songs for another year, releasing 'Never Forget' and the Bee Gees cover 'How Deep Is Your Love', finally announcing they would be disbanding in February 1996. 'How Deep Is Your Love' became the band's final number 1 before they reformed 10 years later.

Late 90's

During the late 90s three of the band members, Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Robbie Williams, enjoyed solo singing careers with varying degrees of success. Jason Orange went into acting and Howard Donald, despite being the lead singer on a number of Take That songs, made a name for himself as a club DJ across Europe.

Skip nearly a decade and ITV reunited the group for a documentary called Take That: For the Record in which the former members of the boyband were interviewed, discussing how they were discovered and looking back at their experiences in the band.

Following the successful reception of the documentary by fans and the press, the decision was made to reunite with the 'post Robbie' line-up and a 2006 tour titled the 'The Ultimate Tour' was announced. After a break of nearly 10 years, Take That members Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, Mark Owen and Jason Orange reformed in 2005.

Take That performed on The X Factor in 2006. In 2006 they had a Number 1 single with 'Patience'. Gone were the cheesy pop tunes of the 90s, Take That had grown up with their fans and the men, now in their 30s revealed a much more mature sound, with their 2006 comeback single 'Patience'. The song quickly hit the top spot in the UK and around Europe becoming the eighth best-selling single of 2006 spending a massive 11 weeks in the top 10.

In 2007 Take That embarked on their 'Beautiful World' tour. Since their reunion as a four-piece, it was clear that they hadn't lost the momentum they had in the 90s with another string of hits including 'Shine', 'Rule the World' and 'Greatest Day'.

After the release of fifth album 'The Circus' in December 2008, the boys headed out on their 'Take That Present: The Circus Live' tour to promote it - and what a spectacle it was! Tickets to the entire tour sold it in less than five hours, making it the fastest-selling tour in UK history.

Robbie Williams made an unexpected return to the group in 2010, joining forces with Gary Barlow - the first time since 1995 - writing a song that would feature on both Take That and Robbie's albums. Then, later that year, the news that all Take That fans had been waiting for was confirmed, the original line-up would be reforming for the wildly successful album, 'Progress' and its live tour. Their lead single 'The Flood' was released and peaked at number 2 featuring both Gary and Robbie as lead vocals.

Following the band's 'Progress Live' tour in 2011 they then decided to take a break.

A couple of years later Take That reformed as a group to record their seventh studio album, but it was short-lived, in 2014 both Robbie and Jason decided to leave. Robbie had recently become a dad for the second time and saying he would find it difficult "logistically". The band continued as a trio made up of Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Mark Owen.

Take That returned earlier this year with their new album 'Wonderland' and their single 'Giants' which peaked at number 13. 'Giants' was written by the remaining three members of Take That along with some co-writers and the lyric video can be seen below.

After celebrating Take That's 30th anniversary in 2019, the band put out a Greatest Hits album called 'Odyssey', which featured song "re-imagined with new arrangements and production". It debuted at Number 1, and the group embarked on a huge UK tour in 2019.

Take That reunited with former member Robbie Williams for a very special performance in May 2020 during the lockdown amid the global pandemic of Coronavirus, performing a 40-minute set.

The band's musical film Greatest Day was confirmed in June 2020! Although it had been in the pipeline for a couple of years, things started to get in motion in the summer, which is based on the jukebox musical The Band, containing Take That songs.

November 2020

Gary released his fifth solo studio album on 27th November, 'Music Played By Humans', which debuted at Number 1 in the UK! It features singles 'Elita' featuring Michael Bublé and Sebastián Yatra, 'Incredible' and 'This Is My Time'. Other album tracks feature vocals from the likes of Beverley Knight, Alesha Dixon and James Corden among others.

On 7th October 2021, Gary surprised fans with the announcement that he was launching his own wine company. He shared photos from his new company Gary Barlow Wines on his social media.

In October 2021, Gary announced his first Christmas album 'The Dream Of Christmas' would come out on 26th November. The album includes new songs like 'How Christmas Is Supposed To Be' as well as Gary's take on some classic tunes. 'Sleigh Ride' and 'The Dream Of Christmas' were released on 28th October ahead of the album.

In January 2022, Gary Barlow announced he would be putting on a theatre performance show called ' A Different Stage ', with dates being added throughout the year.

However, the band have teased fans with some photos from a recording studio in New York City , saying they are working on something special.

Take That (formed in 1990) is the most successful English boy band in UK chart history, specialising in their own style of pop balladry, the band hails from Manchester, England.

Band manager Nigel Martin-Smith in 1989 had a vision to create a youthful and highly appealing male singing group based on New Kids on the Block. Introduced to young singer Gary Barlow, Martin-Smith decided to design the group around Barlow’s talents, subsequently inviting Howard Donald, Jason Orange, Mark Owen and 16-year-old Robbie Williams. Originally performing under the moniker Kick It, Take That’s breakthrough came with a cover of the Tavares hit “It Only Takes a Minute”, followed by “I Found Heaven” and “A Million Love Songs”. Take That later released the album “Take That & Party” in 1992 which featured all of the hit singles theretofore released.

In 1993 the band released their second full-length album “Everything Changes” garnering generous amounts of popular appeal. The album peaked at No.1 and spawned six singles including “Pray”, “Relight My Fire” and “Babe”. Nominated for the Mercury prize the band saw some international esteem however wasn’t enough to break into the U.S. market.

On the wake of Take That’s third studio album “Nobody Else”, Robbie Williams came under some criticism from other band members for his drug use and was offered an ultimatum: sort himself out or hit the road. Williams chose the latter and Take That embarked on their first worldwide tour and released the album “Nobody Else” in America with Williams removed.

Sensing an opportunity to continue his solo careers in the shadow of artists like Elton John an George Michael, Gary Barlow and the group disbanded in 1996. Barlow’s debut solo single reached the No. 2 spot in the UK chart and Mark Owen began working on a solo album influenced by Paul Weller and Radiohead. In 1997 Robbie issued his solo album “Life Thru a Lens” which topped the charts as did his sophomore release “I’ve Been Expecting You” a year later.

In 2005 a new compilation of Take That hits “Never Forget - The Ultimate Collection” arrived which led to an ITV documentary where the band discussed things past. In late 2005 the post-Williams line-up announced they would tour around the UK in 2006 and released the album “Beautiful World”. The album shot straight to the No. 1 spot, sold over 2.8 million copies and is the UK’s 25th best selling album in chart history. The album was led by the single “Patience” which hit the No. 1 spot, the group’s ninth single to do so.

In 2008 Take That released their new single “Greatest Day” ahead of their fifth studio album “The Circus”. Like its predecessors the album broke many records and earned many awards, afterwards the band embarked on their Take That Present - The Circus Tour Live”.

Robbie Williams returned in 2010 with the single written by both Barlow and Williams entitled “Shame”. Subsequently the band released the single “The Flood” ahead of the group’s 2010 album “Progress”. In 2014 the group released the album “III” led by the No. 1 single “These Days".

Live reviews

Take That was A M A Z I N G! We had seats in Block 420, Row C, and had the BEST view we've ever had at the O2! The support band, All Saints, were quite good and a great introduction to how the stage in the middle worked and what our view would be like for the main act. We found by watching them that Take That wouldn't be little ants like we thought they would, we could in fact see them clearly. I cannot fault the start of the main act as it was just so good. The visuals were superb, and my mind was blown as I watched. As someone who is a die hard Take That fan and loves all of the new songs as well as the old, I stood up for nearly every song and got goosebumps all the time. The visuals again, throughout, were especailly good in the songs Giants, relight my fire and shine. Take That also did a medley of old or obscure songs in the middle, which was amazing for me, even though I was the only one standing up in Block 420! Their new dance song called 'Cry' really got the crowd hyped, as it was amazing to witness. Never forget and rule the world were beautiful, with phone flashlights illuminating the whole arena.

I also cannot fault the secruity, as it was like being in an airport and I felt very safe. However, we had to go to level 1 to get chips as there is not much vareity on level 4 and we do not like going to a big resturant on the ground floor before a concert.

My favourite songs live were: Cry, Shine, wonderland, it's all for you and rule the world.

Back in 2011 Take That played a stint of gigs at London’s Wembley Stadium. They were certainly impressive shows. Since their 2005 comeback the English pop group (it no longer seems fitting to describe them as a boy band) have been famed for the dramatic scale of their arena performances.

Take That drew upon their by-now vast repertoire of work. They had released no less than three studio albums since their much-anticipated comeback n 2005. Of course, the latest album and tour had been particularly exciting because it marked the belated return of Robbie Williams. The largely female crowd was an excitable screaming mass throughout the evening, letting out deafening yells, whoops and screams as the Take That four-piece opened with ‘Rule the World.’ Five songs later, Robbie Williams took to the stage to perform five of his own solo tracks. And then it was time for what we were all waiting for. THE ORIGINAL TAKE THAT LINE-UP PERFORMING TOGETHER. They began with ‘The Flood,’ the leading single of their 2010 album, ‘Progress’. Soon the reunited five-piece were transporting us back to the nineties with a fine rendition of ‘Want You Back’. Take That delivered an impressive spectacle of a performance. And with an encore featuring ‘Relight My Fire’ it would have been difficult to please their audience any more!

A nation went into mourning when boyband Take That announced their breakup in the mid 90s. However they delighted the devoted fanbase announcing a reunion in 2006 as they reappeared as a more mature, grown up band with a new approach to pop music. The tours have also changed with age, there and no more cheesy dance routines of the 90s videos and instead they have been replaced with more considered, sophisticated production values.

The fully reformed lineup took to Wembley stadium to delight fans with a barrage of dancers, lights, video interludes and an infamous illuminating elephant. With so much to focus on, you could review a Take That show without having to mention the incredible track list which includes mega-hits such as 'Relight My Fire' 'Never Forget' and 'Could It Be Magic'. The original reformed four piece also perform modern hit singles including 'Rule the World' and 'Patience' before Robbie arrives to play a number of his solo tracks including 'Rock DJ'. This show really is a masterclass in pop majesty.

What an absolutely wonderful time we had at Take That's Thursday night concert at Take That Arena.

Rick Astley was brilliant a trip right back to the 80s. I'd quite forgotten how many hits there were. Then bang up to date with some of his contemporary work. Great voice great music!!!

Then the boys landed!!!

The set and special effects were incredible. The lads worked so hard for over 2 hours and treated us to a catalogue of hits and routines from their previous tours. Even the outfits were authentic.

It was so fantastic to see such a show and be able to sing along to of the music.

Very hoarse today !

And a final surprise guest Lulu.

The little pocket rocket with the huge voice. Hasn't lost any of it!!

If you get the chance to see the tour my advise just do it.

We celebrated our wedding anniversary in style xxxxxx

I am a heavy metal fan who goes along with his wife to Take That concerts. Joy!

To be honest, Joy is the correct word to use. Take That always put on an excellent show and even thought it is so different from let’s say the upcoming Rammstein concert at the same venue I am so looking forward too in July, these guys show is exciting and so well presented that I found myself bopping like a 16 year old kid out on the kip for his first conquest. Loved it. I would say that of the 5 TT tours I have been to, this one rates second after the Circus show at Wembley all those years ago.

Well done lads. Loved it!

Yet again, a fantastic show. Take That never fail to entertain. They sounded fabulous, the stage was a masterpiece and Lulu was amazing! Rick Astley was the perfect set-up for the boys, getting everyone dancing and singing. The crowd were all in good spirits with everyone being friendly and polite to each other. It was an amazing tribute to the past 30 years with a real mixture of old and new songs. The guys may be 30 years older now but they ooze energy! Certainly my favourite gig since The Circus tour in 2009!!

The concert was stunning and amazing *-*

It was huge, even it was only the 'little' show of them.

Me and my friend both got a plec from Kevin, the best tour manager ever! And we never thought that Howard, Mark and Gary would look at us that much! All three of them looked at us several times and grinned when we grinned or laughed or winked or what ever. We botj saw that they have really much fun with that what they do! :)

This concert was just awesome! <3

Thank you for the great night! <3

Fabulous show!!. A million costume changes, loads of stage props and pyrotechnics fireworks ldancing girls and flames. All the hits were covered and appeared I went. Rick Astley is still as fab as he ever was though he did say" I'm 53 and knackered" lol. Surprise guest was Lulu . "Rule the world" a little tear ran down my face. All had our torches on and my dad's dear face on my phone was lit up like he was there. The stars are coming out tonight...for you Dad. He'd have loved it ❤

Take That will return on tour in two years, but which members will making a comeback with Gary Barlow?

Listen to this article

Gary Barlow has confirmed that Take That are getting back together and will go on tour in 2023.

He said that he will reunite with bandmates Mark Owen and Howard Donald for a series of live dates in a year's time.

  • Inside Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow's feud and friendship over the years
  • Take That's 6 most historic moments, from their 2006 reunion to Jason Orange's final performance
  • Where is Jason Orange now?

However, he had hoped to get Jason Orange back on board, but despite the group's attempts to convince him, the band are returning as a trio.

Robbie Williams will also likely be absent from the line-up, He returned to the group in 2010 and for some sporadic appearance here and there, but a full-time reunion is not on the cards.

Take That as a five-piece in 2011

Speaking to The Sun , Gary said: “Jason isn’t coming back. Take That is Mark, Howard and me for the next few years.

“By the time Christmas comes, it will be the end of a big chapter for me. I’ll have toured two albums and it’ll be the end of this solo chapter for me and I’ll be getting ready for the next wave of Take That.

“We’ll have a nice planning year in 2022. I don’t think we’ll release anything or tour, but the following year – 2023 – will be a big year for Take That.

"It’s been a while since 2019. I’m ready to get back to my day job now. That’s my thing, being in the group."

The last time Take That performed together was back in 2019, during their sold-out Odyssey: Greatest Hits Live Tour. Jason and Robbie also did not appear during that campaign.

Take That will return as a trio

After parting ways in 1996, Take That reunited to great fanfare in 2005, minus Robbie. Five years later, Robbie returned to the fold for the Progress album and tour, but they have not performed with Jason since their Olympics Closing Ceremony show in 2012.

Gary Barlow is currently on tour in support of his new festive album The Dream of Christmas , released this Friday (November 26).

Earlier this week, Gary unveiled his latest single - 'How Christmas Is Supposed To Be' - a duet with actor Sheridan Smith.

Speaking of the LP, which has a 2023 release date, he tells The Sun’s Bizarre column: “We’ve kind of started already. We’ve learnt to work remotely because we live in different parts of the world.

“So I’ll send off a chorus and say, ‘Let me know what you think, lads’, then it will be back a few days later and it’s had a little more written on it.

“You’ll hear a single just before the summer next year and the album will be released around October. And the following year we’ve put the whole of it aside for a world tour.

“We haven’t done a world tour for years. So we will take this new record everywhere and there will be a few surprise places that we haven’t toured before.”

In addition to the new music, Take That have a movie coming out, ‘Greatest Days’, and Gary insists the trio have a lot left they want to achieve together.

He adds: “We’re feeling ambitious and ready for hard work. Music isn’t about repetition, so we always want to feel like we are moving forward and chasing new dreams.

“We’ve done a lot as Take That but we haven’t achieved everything we want to achieve. I believe we have years to go yet.”

Event Details

Iconic British band Take That has announced 4 shows at The O2, taking place in April 2024 on Thursday 25, Friday 26, Saturday 27, Sunday 28 May, Tuesday 30 and Wednesday 1 May.

Alongside the show announcements the band has also announced news of their ninth studio album This Life, set for release 24th November. To celebrate the news further, Take That have also unleashed their brand-new single Windows which is out now. They will be joined on the tour by very special guest, Olly Murs.

Those who pre-order new album This Life from the official store here before 10:00 on 26th September will receive a special code to access pre-sale tickets from Wednesday 27th September at 9.30am

Take That are renowned for their huge productions and incredible live shows, and currently hold the record for the most performances at London’s The O2 with 34 headline shows. 2011’s Progress tour broke box office records by selling over 1 million tickets in less than 24 hours, becoming the biggest tour in the UK and earning them a place on Billboard’s annual ‘Top 25 Tours’ list, placing third worldwide. In 2019, the band celebrated their 30th anniversary with the 38 date sell-out Odyssey tour which saw them play to 29 arenas and 9 stadiums, selling over 650,000 tickets.

Take That’s brand new single, Windows, out today - sees them reunite for their first original composition in over five years. Windows, is a beautiful track which tells the story of emerging from the darkness into the light. As a familiar falsetto rings out across the opening notes of Windows, it signals a new era for one of Britain’s best selling bands, Take That; an era brimming with energy, creativity and a continued desire to challenge and surprise.

The musicality of Windows hints at what listeners can expect from This Life, the band’s ninth studio album and their first since 2017’s Wonderland. Beautiful melodies, soaring choruses, sophisticated harmonies beautifully blending the trio’s voices permeate the new album, due for release on 24th November.

“It’s been a wonderful experience being back in the studio together making this record. It has that feeling of spreading your wings, letting out the old and bringing in the new” commented the band. 'We’re incredibly proud of the new album - there’s a sense of togetherness, whether that’s us coming back together as a band or people wanting connection in their own lives. We’re excited for this new chapter."

Throughout the writing and recording process, the band honed this new sound in some of music’s most hallowed halls, including New York’s Electric Lady Studios and Nashville’s Historic RCA Studio A which between them have hosted David Bowie, Dolly Parton, The Beach Boys, Adele, Taylor Swift, Maggie Rogers and more. Windows and upcoming album This Life continues the legacy of one of the most successful bands in British chart history, with over 45 million records sold worldwide and 12 Number 1 hits in the UK.

For a band 30+ years into their career, Take That are not standing still; constantly evolving, the future looks bright for the trio.

About Take That

Formed as a five-piece in 1989, Take That enjoyed immediate success with their first two albums charting at Number 2 and Number 1 respectively. Third album Nobody Else confirmed their global domination, selling over six million copies and topping the charts in 11 countries. The departure of band member Robbie Williams prompted a break-up in 1996 and nine years in the wilderness before the remaining four members reunited for 2005’s The Ultimate Tour. This sparked one of the greatest comebacks in British music history with Take That going on to release three Number 1 albums in just four years. Robbie’s return for 2011’s Progress saw them break UK records for the fastest-selling album of the 21st century and fastest-selling tour of all time. Williams’ second departure, along with that of Jason Orange, left the remaining three members to release III and 2017’s Wonderland, which were certified platinum and gold respectively.

The band celebrated their 30th anniversary with the release of Odyssey in 2018, a greatest hits album of beautifully re-imagined versions of some of the biggest tracks from their three-decade-spanning career. The album entered the charts at Number 1 and was closely followed by a critically acclaimed UK and European stadium and arena tour in 2019.

Take That tour dates and locations revealed as band announce huge comeback after six years

Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald have delighted Take That fans by announcing a brand-new album, stadium tour, and hopes of playing Glastonbury 2024 after a six-year break

Take That trio Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald have revealed their ninth studio album, and a brand-new single titled, Windows. Avid fans of the nineties boy band have gone wild after the Back For Good hit-makers announced the exciting news after a six-year break.

While Gary, Mark, and Howard have reunited, there's no sign of the former five-piece-band getting back together anytime soon however. Much to the disappointment of some die-hard Take That fans, ex band members Robbie Williams and Jason Orange will be nowhere to be seen or heard on the new album, titled This Life - which is out for release on November 24.

Opening up about the new album amid rumours of a full Take That reunion, Gary, 52, has insisted that the speculation surrounding Robbie and Jason making a comeback are sadly untrue with them having no substance behind them. “The one thing I keep hearing is that Take That are coming back but there’s no Robbie and Jason. Robbie hasn’t been in the band since 2011 and Jason left in 2014," Gary revealed.

“We’ve always said they’re welcome to join us but we’ve done about 600 shows since they were around. “We’re a three at the moment and we’re doing OK," he told The Sun.

Although Robbie and Jason haven't agreed to a reunion just yet, Gary, Mark, and Howard are gearing up for a huge tour for 2024 as they're set to play an array of stadiums across the UK and Ireland. And this year, the trio are hoping to finally secure a spot on the coveted Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury, with Gary insisting that this will hopefully be the year they follow in the footsteps of Elton John.

"You need to be asked to do Glastonbury, you can’t sell yourself into it. It might happen. In the past, we’ve had such big productions but now we do try to be a bit more mobile so I think we’re more prepared to do things like Glastonbury. Elton John did a great job this year. It would be great to experience it," he said.

As they prepare to head out on tour next year, rumours of a Las Vegas residency for Take That are still rife. As Kylie Minogue and U2, are both preparing for huge residencies in Sin City, while Adele is still continuing hers, the Take That trio have said 'who knows' what might happen for them in the near future in the US.

Six years ago, the group were rumoured to be eyeing up a deal which would have seen fans flocking from across the globe to see them in Sin City. When asked if they would still be up for doing a residency, Gary replied: "Who knows what might happen in the next few years ."

Is there parking at the stadium?

There is no parking on the stadium site itself.

However, there are a huge number of car parks across the town where you will be able to leave your car, with options for both short stay and long stay. You can see council-operated car parks in Middlesbrough here .

Is there a fan village again this year?

It's been a staple at the first Take That gig, then again at The Killers and the Arctic Monkeys. And this year the fan villages are back - one located at the west and another at the east.

At the fan village, you will be able to purchase food, drinks, and merchandise.

What time does the fan village and stadium open?

All ticket holders will be allowed entry on site to the fan villages at 3.30pm to take in the atmosphere. However, the stadium bowl and pitch area will only be open for fans from 5pm, along with all hospitality areas.

You will only be permitted access at the entrance indicated on your ticket. There will be three entrances on site:

Entrance 1 - (NW corner, adjacent to the River Tees). This is for West Stand seating, South Stand seating, and West Stand accessible seating. All Hospitality package access is via a separate, and closely adjacent gate.

Entrance 2 – (South side, on The Leeway). This is for pitch standing tickets only.

Entrance 3 – (SE corner, on The Leeway) This is for East Stand seating, and East and South Stand accessible seating.

Entrances will be clearly signposted as you approach the stadium.

Remember - once you're in, you're in. Ticket holders will not be allowed to leave and be re-admitted once they have entered

Who is the opening act and what time are they on?

Wrapped Up hitmaker Olly Murs will be the band's opening act - and he's already been getting crowds on their feet at previous Take That gigs across the country. He's sang all of his best hits during the tour dates - from Troublemaker to Dance With Me Tonight - and even covered It Only Takes A Minute and Everybody Needs Somebody to Love.

Olly Murs is due to take the stage at 7.25pm.

What time is Take That on and what is the setlist?

Now time for the main event. Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, and Mark Owen are due to take to the stage at 8.35pm.

In terms of the setlist, while it's hard to pinpoint the exact songs and order the band will sing them, you can look back at some of the tour's previous setlists online to get a feel for what you could be dancing to on the night.

Here is a previous setlist from the band's gig in Leeds on April 18:

Keep Your Head Up

Days I Hate Myself

Everything Changes

A Million Love Songs

I Found Heaven

Forever Love (Gary Barlow song)

Clementine (Mark Owen song)

Speak Without Words (Howard Donald song)

Get Ready for It

March of the Hopeful

The Champion

Greatest Day

Time and Time Again

Relight My Fire

One More Word

Hold Up a Light

Back for Good

Never Forget

Rule the World

Can I bring a bag?

To speed up entry, the stadium has asked that that people do not bring a bag to the event, if possible.

However, if you do need to bring a bag, this must be no bigger than A4 in size and will be searched. Anything listed on our prohibited items list will be confiscated before entry and any bags bigger than A4 will not be permitted into the stadium.

What items are banned?

The following is a basic list of prohibited items. Please view the Event Regulations to see the full list of prohibited articles.

Alcohol, except for hand sanitizer.

Controlled drugs.

Glass, cans, plastic bottles, or thermos flasks of any kind.

Flammable liquids and aerosols (this includes perfume, after-shave, hairspray, etc). If you bring these in, they cannot be stored for a later collection, so leave them at home or in the car.

Laser pens/pointers.

Laptops, iPads or similar electronic tablets, professional cameras/video equipment.

Food and drink, unless for medicinal purposes. Gluten-free food and drink are also prohibited, as these options are available on-site. Please notify the stadium prior to the day of the event if you need to bring items for medicinal use by emailing [email protected]

Umbrellas - even if it rains - and signs, banners, flags, inflatables, and selfie sticks.

Air horns, whistles, or other noise-making devices.

Knives and other weapons, fireworks, smoke bombs, confetti, glitter bombs, or sprays.

Any other items, publicised in advance by stadium management and/or the promoters, or to which they raise objections on the day of the event.

Admission may be refused to anyone carrying one or more of the items listed above. The stadium says: "It will be each ticket holder’s responsibility to dispose of any items that cannot be brought into the venue. Please note it will not be possible for any such items to be stored and collected again after the event."

What food and drink is on offer?

There will be a wide range of food and beverages available to buy from 3.30pm in the fan villages.

Food stalls will include traditional fish & chips, burgers, and pizzas, alongside more specialized catering offers. Alcohol will be available to buy for adults aged 18+, however, you may be asked to provide ID.

The Fan Villages will have cash and card options available for payment, though card is the preferred method. When the stadium bowl opens, all the concourses have food and beverage outlets which will be open throughout the event too.

Also, the fan villages will remain accessible to all until the end of the event. There are no cash machines on site.

I have pitch-standing tickets - where can I buy food and drink in the ground?

Those with pitch-standing tickets will be able to buy drinks from outlets around the edge of the pitch, which is handy for people who want to get right into the action. However, these will be cash only.

Once on the pitch, you will still be able to move freely between the facilities in the concourses and the fan villages. To minimize congestion beneath the stands, Pitch Standing ticket holders will not be allowed to access West Stand concourses.

You can pay cash or card at all concourse units.

Can I smoke at the event?

The Riverside Stadium is a no smoking venue and smoking, including e-cigarettes and vaping, is not permitted indoors, in seating areas, on the pitch, or within the concourses.

However, for this event, smoking will be allowed in the fan villages and all external circulation areas.

Where are the toilets and first aid areas?

There will be toilets situated on all the concourses with additional, temporary facilities located in both the fan villages. There will also be First Aid rooms in the West Stand and East Stand concourses, as well as a large medical marquee at the east fan village.

Can I camp out before the event?

Camping will not be allowed at the stadium or in the fan villages.

Are there taxi pick-ups nearby after the event?

There will be a drop-off and pick-up zone outside the ground following the event, which will operate a one-way system. Any concert-goers booking a Private Hire taxi should arrange to be collected within this zone.

Post-event, temporary Hackney Carriage ranks will also be created inside the road closure footprint on Priestman Road, approximately 0.2 miles (320m) north of the stadium and Shepherdson Way approximately 0.4 miles (600m) south of the stadium.

However, for those organising lifts, there will be no access to the stadium from the A66 towards the end of the concert "in the interests of road and pedestrian safety."

The A66 eastbound off-slip will also be closed to all traffic, and traffic exiting from the A66 westbound off-slip will be unable to turn right and drive towards the stadium. Drivers arriving to collect concertgoers are therefore strongly advised to use the dedicated Drop-off & Pick-up Zone or pre-arrange an alternative location.

This closure will not be lifted until approximately 11.30pm, subject to safe pedestrian levels.

If you want to meet friends after the gig, there will be four locations, indicated on the meeting point map. You can find out more details about this and maps of the plans on the Middlesbrough FC website here .

When were Take That last in Middlesbrough - and what did they sing?

Take That graced fans in Middlesbrough on June 1, 2019, when they stopped off on their 30th anniversary Odyssey tour. They played to 29 arenas during the tour across 38 dates.

Tunes on the 25-song setlist included all of their biggest and best hits, such as Relight My Fire, Greatest Day, Patience, Shine, A Million Love Songs, Everything Changes, and Rule the World.

Hit parade from 90’s boyband

Plænen - The Open Air Stage

The British boyband Take That has been melting thousands of hearts with their velvety vocals and loving lyrics since 1990. Take That was one of the first modern boybands from the UK to take the world by storm with their pop, dance, and ballads. Their international hits like Back for Good , Never Forget , and Patience , along with over 45 million albums sold, have cemented Take That as one of the biggest groups from the 90s and 00s golden era of pop. Over the years, the boyband has disbanded and reformed in various lineups, and now the three members, Gary Barlow , Mark Owen , and Howard Donald , are back with their new release This Life . The pop party is guaranteed when Take That takes the stage at Plænen – the Open Air stage and invites the audience to sing along.

Take That fans spot band using cheeky trick to remember lyrics to their ‘worst song’ on tour

Take That - Howard Donald, Gary Barlow, Mark Owen

Take That kicked off their 2024 world tour in Sheffield earlier this week and fans have spotted the way the trio remember their song lyrics on stage.

The veteran boyband, who formed in 1990 , began their first major tour in five years at the Steel City’s Utilita Arena, playing to a sell-out crowd of 13,000 people.

And when it came time to perform a song that’s over 30 years old now, some of the 13,000 fans in attendance noticed a clever but hilarious trick Gary Barlow , Mark Owen , and Howard Donald were using to remember the words.

The trio was singing I Found Heaven, from their 1992 album Take That & Party, when fans spotted a teleprompter spelling out the lyrics for them on stage.

It’s not one of Take That’s best-known singles – only charting at number 15 in the UK – and Gary, 53, himself has previously described the song as ‘f***ing awful’ and the group’s worst ‘by a huge margin’.

Take That using teleprompter during their tour

On the setlist, I Found Heaven was sandwiched between A Million Love Songs and Patience, with the group performing 29 of their hits for almost three hours.

However, fans were forgiving of the decision to use the teleprompter, with one saying that with ‘so many great hits’ that it would be hard to remember the words to all of them.

Some of Gary’s monologues between songs were also typed out on the prompter, with the Cheshire-born singer looking back at Take That’s beginnings in Manchester, describing the city as ‘the place to be’ in the 1980s and 1990s.

The Never Forget hitmakers originally split in 1996 after Robbie Williams left the group to go solo, but reformed without Robbie in 2006 and achieved great success with their comeback album Beautiful World.

Robbie, 50, re-joined the group shortly afterward, forming part of the line-up for their third comeback album Progress, but left once again in 2014, continuing to work with Gary on new music after his second departure.

In the 2010s, Robbie was soon followed out of the group by original member Jason Orange , who insisted there had been no arguments or disagreements between the remaining members.

Take That in Japan 1993

Since then, Take That have continued working as a trio, releasing their latest album This Life in 2023 – this latest tour is in support of its unveiling last year.

The tour will last for 41 dates, visiting several cities in the UK and Ireland before jetting off to Germany, Denmark, Switzerland, Abu Dhabi, and New Zealand.

In preparation for the tour, Take That joined Lulu on-stage at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester to perform their hit single together, Relight My Fire, on the same day Lulu announced she would be retiring from live performances this summer.

The 1960s singer, who broke out with her top 10 hit Shout in 1967, said she would be performing at the Glastonbury Festival in June before calling time on her seven-decade career.

It's Take Our Daughters and Sons To Work Day: How to help kids get the most out of it

For more than 30 years, parents have been bringing their kids to work to show them the ropes of the real world. though it began with daughters, it's now aimed at helping all kids get inspired..

take that tour years

The office may seem a bit younger today.

Thursday is Take Our Sons and Daughters to Work Day , an over 30-year tradition that aims to show children that they can aspire to work in any field.

The theme for this year is "Inspire 2 Aspire," according to the Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Foundation .

"The core message revolves around the idea that each child has the potential to be an inspiration in their own right," the foundation says on their website. "By participating in programs that offer a glimpse into various careers and industries, they not only gain valuable insights but also become catalysts for positive change."

Here's what you need to know about Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day.

When did Take Your Kid to Work Day start?

Take Our Daughters to Work Day began in 1992 in New York City, founded by feminist icon Gloria Steinem as part of the Ms. Foundation. It was "created to help show girls that being smart was something to be proud of, not something to hide, and that their ideas could be heard and had value," according to the foundation.

"By providing girls with real-life adult role models in various professions, the program sought to show girls that gender was not a prohibitive factor to their desired profession," the foundation says.

The day was expanded to include sons in 2003 , "which allowed it to bring a sharper focus to both genders, showing boys that they too could enter any career they choose, regardless of society’s prescribed gender roles," the foundation says.

When is Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day celebrated?

Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day is celebrated on the fourth Thursday in April.

How many people participate?

Over 37 million people at over 3.5 million workplaces participated in 2018, according to Forbes .

Dos and don'ts of Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day

USA TODAY spoke to Dave Olivera, then-interim president and executive director of the Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Foundation, and Jack Kosakowski, president and CEO of Junior Achievement USA, about some best practices for the day in 2023.

Here’s what they shared:

  • If you don’t have children but you have the availability to participate in National Take Your Child to Work Day activities, don’t dismiss the opportunity to get involved. Your involvement could make a world of a difference for disenfranchised youth who may not have parents or whose parents may not be employed.
  • Also, while the day can be very inspiring for elementary and middle school aged children, don’t forget about high school students. Exposure to career professionals and workplaces while in high school can help students understand and map their immediate next steps to achieve their career goals.
  • Reach out to your HR team and other colleagues to see if there is already programming scheduled on site or remotely for National Take Your Child to Work Day. Some businesses may already have office tours, virtual meetings, and speakers for your young professional to participate in.
  • Junior Achievement USA and Take Your Daughters and Sons to Work Foundation provide resources , curriculum and learning materials that will supplement the experience that a parent is able to provide. Those include a sample excused absence form and agendas for the day.

Take the opportunity to connect with your child in a new way

  • National Take Your Child to Work Day is a wonderful opportunity to connect with your child in a way that you may have not done before. Don’t be afraid to share the challenges you face and to help your child overcome their roadblocks. As a parent, you know your child’s strengths and weaknesses. If they're not interested in science, and you have a science-focused job, you can make the subject real by showing them the relevance of what they're learning in school.
  • Having people explain what their jobs are and getting a sense of the work environment is a great experience. Be sure to prepare your child in advance so they know what to look for. Then, debrief afterward. Sometimes students’ interpretation of what they see and what you see can be different. Before and after discussions help tie the experience together.
  • If your employer does not have National Take Your Child to Work Day activities, encourage them to get involved. It’s a wonderful opportunity to increase brand awareness and expose students to careers that are available in an industry.

Prince’s ‘Musicology’ at 20: A Look at the Album, Tour and Year That Saved His Career

(EXCLUSIVE, Premium Rates Apply) Prince performs after being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (Photo by Kevin Kane/WireImage)

Prince had been at a crossroads before, but never like he was at the beginning of 2004.

So, as he had with “Diamonds and Pearls” when he was in a similar place in the early ‘90s, he decided to play the game and show everybody just who they were dealing with.

On February 8, he opened the 2004 Grammy Awards with a five-minute medley of “Purple Rain,” “Baby I’m a Star” and “Let’s Go Crazy” — with Beyonce — that may be the greatest opening to a music-awards show in television history. Two weeks later, he announced his first major tour in six years, noting that he’d be playing his hits again. “It’s older music, but it’s going to be played in a newer way,” he said, teasing that it might be the last time he played those songs in concert (it wasn’t). Then in March, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, where he played a different, much longer medley of his hits during the ceremony — but of course what everyone remembers is his show-stealing solo during the all-star George Harrison tribute, which he finished by throwing his guitar into the audience.

Musically, “Musicology” was a return to accessibility. And although it didn’t reach the peaks of his classic ‘80s material — to be fair, not much music does — it was a vivid sampler of his musical styles that marked the return of the Prince that people knew and loved. It also was a genuine hit: The ticket-CD bundle helped loft the album to No. 3 on the Billboard 200, but it was top 5 in multiple countries all over the world without that boost, even though it didn’t have a big hit single. Recorded over several years, “Musicology”’s musical baseline is the brand of lean funk Prince was raised on — he even shouts out Earth, Wind & Fire, James Brown and others in the album’s lead-off title track, which concludes with brief, scratchy recordings of some of his own hits in a mock scanning-the-radio-dial segment. There are a couple of “Do Me, Baby”-styled bedroom ballads, bombastic rock (“A Million Days”), even the new wave pop he hadn’t done since “I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man” on “Cinnamon Girl,” complete with splashes of vintage synthesizers. It winds down with a sultry, slow-burning burst of Aretha on the soulfully bluesy “On the Couch” and concludes with the breezy “Reflection.”

Even though Prince’s musicianship was at a new peak — his blazing guitar work, multi-tracked harmonies, production and arranging show an artist at the top of his craft — he was making music that was easy to like again, which isn’t to say it was simple; but even at its most sophisticated and complex (like the jazzy interlude at the end of “If I Was the Man in Ur Life”), it went down more smoothly. Indeed, the only area where “Musicology” fell flat is in the lyrics, which, like much of Prince’s later material, could be shockingly insipid. In particular, the album’s catchiest track, “Life of the Party,” is marred by lyrics so tossed-off that it sounds like they were written off the top of his head. (“So you’re havin’ a party?/ Goody for you/ All the beautiful people gonna be there/ Yeah, that’s cool.”) Even when he tried gravitas — about politics, war, global warming and moral decay on “Dear Mr. Man” — it wasn’t much better.

Prince was not an artist who’d ever lacked confidence, but by the end of 2004, the full swagger was back in his step. He’d significantly increased his wealth: The tour grossed nearly $90 million, the album was certified double platinum in the U.S. early in 2005, and it spurred sales of his entire catalog in an era when most people still bought CDs. But more importantly, it also marked the return of the Prince people knew, one who wasn’t completely refusing to be who he’d been, and not just musically: The weird outfits and otherworldly hairstyles had been replaced by sleek, classy suits and a short, trim cut.

The year’s creative efforts also gave him a model for how to pursue the rest of his career. Any time he wanted another million (or ten), he’d hit the road in some new and unusual way. Over the following years he played everything from a months-long Las Vegas residency to a premium-price one at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood; from a series of 21 dates at London’s Wembley Arena to a handful of shows in specific regions of the U.S. — even the Carolinas. He played brief “Hit and Run” tours that were announced just days before they launched; and of course he staged what is universally considered to be the greatest Super Bowl Halftime performance of all time in 2007. By contrast, his last tour, shortly before his death in 2016, was just him accompanying himself on piano. He kept finding new ways to keep himself interested.

And although he wouldn’t again reach the upper echelons of the charts in his lifetime and his albums continued to be frustratingly hit-or-miss, his sense of innovation returned with “3121,” the album that followed “Musicology” — on it, fans of “Sign O’ the Times,” which many regard as the peak of his creativity, could find much to grab onto, at least for the first half of the album. Unfortunately, most of the other albums he released in these years were maddeningly inconsistent (and sometimes appallingly bad) but although you won’t find any hidden “Purple Rain”s, there are overlooked gems to be found on many of them — like “Lavaux” and “Laydown” from “20Ten” (the latter of which features the priceless line, “from the heart of Minnesota/ Here come the purple Yoda”), and “Better With Time” and especially “ Ol’ Skool Company ” from “MPLSoUND.” Every once in a while on those albums and others, the Prince you love pops up with something so great it’s as if he’d never gone anywhere. And that’s really the gift of his scattershot, impossibly vast musical output — even though he’s no longer here, there’ll always be something new to find.

“Musicology” was the end of Prince’s wilderness years, and in every way, it set him up for the remaining dozen years of his much-too-brief life.

By the numbers: Statistics confirm Scottie Scheffler's historical dominance

Change Text Size

Is impending fatherhood the only thing stopping Scottie Scheffler? Quite possibly.

His historic run continued Monday when he completed his victory at the RBC Heritage. It was his fourth win in his past five starts, a run that also included victories at the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard, THE PLAYERS Championship and the Masters. The only exception was a runner-up finish at the Texas Children’s Houston Open, where he missed a 6-footer to join Stephan Jaeger in a playoff.

Scottie Scheffler’s Round 4 highlights From RBC Heritage

Scheffler has seemed invincible lately, and the statistics confirm that. Here’s a closer look at some of the key stats that put Scheffler’s historic play into perspective:

  • By winning at Harbour Town Golf Links, Scheffler became the first player since Bernhard Langer in 1985 to win the RBC Heritage one week after winning the Masters .
  • Scheffler is the first player since Tiger Woods in 2006 to win the week after winning a major .
  • With four wins and a runner-up in his past five starts, Scheffler is the first player since Woods in 2007-08 to have five consecutive top-two finishes . Vijay Singh is the only other player to have such a run in the past 30 years (2004).
  • This was Scheffler’s 10th PGA TOUR victory, coming in just his 51st start since he earned his first win at the 2022 WM Phoenix Open. Only David Duval has needed fewer starts after his first win to reach victory No. 10. Duval did it in 33 starts. Tiger Woods is third on the list with 59 starts.
  • In his 51 starts since the 2022 WM Phoenix Open, Scheffler also has 23 top-three finishes (45%) and 35 top-10s (68.6%).
  • All 10 of Scheffler’s wins have come since the start of the 2021-22 season. He is the first player to win 10 (or more) times on the PGA TOUR in the span of three seasons since Dustin Johnson won 10 titles between 2015-16 and 2017-18.
  • This is Scheffler’s fourth win of the season, matching his career-high from 2022. He is the fourth player with multiple four-win seasons since the start of 2000 , joining Woods (10), Singh, (3) and Phil Mickelson (2).
  • Scheffler has now recorded 40 consecutive TOUR rounds at par or better , a streak that began in the final round of the 2023 TOUR Championship. He’s 12 back of Woods’ all-time TOUR mark of 52 straight rounds at par or better (set across 2000-01).
  • In each of Scheffler’s last seven victories, eight or more of the top 10 players in the Official World Golf Ranking have been in the field . His most recent run of four wins in five starts has included two Signature Events (Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard, RBC Heritage), THE PLAYERS and the Masters.
  • Scheffler is averaging 5.38 birdies per round this season, on pace to set the all-time TOUR record for single-season birdie average (since the statistic was first tracked in 1980) . Woods set the current record (4.92) in 2020.
  • In his 39 rounds this season, he has outperformed the field average 35 times . He’s been at least a shot better than the field 30 times, at least two shots better 26 times and at least three shots better 19 times.
  • Scheffler leads the TOUR in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green by nearly a shot per round this season , after finishing atop the category by more than two-thirds of a stroke per round last season. No player had previously led the category by more than four-tenths of a stroke per round since Woods in 2009.

'Don't Be Dumb': Cardinals Take Texans' C.J. Stroud's Advice During 2024 NFL Draft

Houston Texans' C.J. Stroud warned teams about passing on his Ohio State teammate Marvin Harrison Jr., and the Cardinals listened.

  • Author: Coty M. Davis

In this story:

HOUSTON — Pro Bowl quarterback C.J. Stroud knew the Houston Texans had no chance of drafting his Ohio State teammate Marvin Harrison Jr. during the 2024 NFL Draft . But Stroud knew there was a good chance Harrison would be the first wide receiver taken off the board Thursday night and questioned why any team would pass on his services.

"Why shouldn't it be ‘Marv’?," Stroud said. "Put on the tape. He’s done it from really his freshman year, his true freshman year, to now...Don't be dumb."

The Arizona Cardinals took Stroud's advice and selected Harrison as the No. 4 overall pick of the draft. Harrison was the top wide receiver taken and the first non-quarterback selected.

The Graham–George Offensive Player of the Year winner established himself as the top prospect at his position, catching 67 balls for 1,211 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Harrison rose to prominence during his sophomore season while playing alongside Stroud. He registered a career-best 1,263 yards on 77 catches and 14 touchdowns in Stroud's final season at Ohio State.

"That’s what he sleeps, eats and breathes,"  Stroud said. "He’s a worthy talent, but his work ethic and how he gravitates that room. I challenged him that last year when Jaxon [Smith-Njigba] went down, he had to take over as leader, and he did that."

Before Harrison's selection, Caleb Williams was the top selection by the Chicago Bears. The Washington Commanders drafted reigning Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels. The New England Patriots took Drake Maye at pick No. 3.

"For me, I think I would love to play with him again," Stroud said. "I probably won’t get that opportunity for a while, but I’m super proud of him."
