The 11th Annual Tour de Cookie

The Tree House Tour de Cookie is The Tree House’s annual non-competitive, family-friendly, fun-filled bike ride. Riders choose among two routes to ride, stopping at cookie stands to collect treats along the way. In addition to the ride, we host a free Bike Rodeo for children of all ages and a Family Expo, where a host of fun activities are available for our riders and non-riding attendees. Please do not forget, helmets are required. The event is designed to raise awareness of the issue of child abuse and the services provided by The Tree House Child Advocacy Center of Montgomery County, MD, as well as raise funds for services provided to children and families impacted by abuse. It is our MAIN fundraiser. All proceeds benefit The Tree House, allowing us to better serve our clients. There are two routes – 10 miles and 34 miles. At each rest stop you get (you guessed it) cookies! Rain date is May 5th.

2nd Annual Tour de Cookie Bike Ride (Video)

Join cyclists of all ages and abilities at the second annual Tree House Tour de Cookie, a 12- or 40-mile bicycle ride on Saturday, May 3 to benefit the Tree House Child Assessment Center. A public-private partnership, the Tree House Child Assessment Center is dedicated to reducing trauma and promoting healing for child victims of physical and sexual abuse, and neglect.

The ride begins at 9 a.m. at the Universities of Shady Grove in Rockville. Participants will ride between cookie stands hosted by local clubs and organizations and collect and enjoy cookies and other sweet treats along the way. Riders will receive a collectible long sleeve t-shirt and a custom medal. Awards will go to the best cookie stand.

In addition to the ride, a community expo will be held with exhibits and activities for children and families. There will be food for purchase and a raffle with prizes including autographed Washington Nationals memorabilia and gift cards from local businesses.

The Tree House Tour de Cookie is hosted by the Universities at Shady Grove. Sponsors of the ride are Rockville Nursery School and Kindergarten, L-3 Communications, Sports Authority, General Dynamics and The Raytheon Company, with special thanks to the city of Rockville’s Bike Advisory Committee. Videotaping of the event will be provided by the Green Buzz Agency.

The Tree House Tour de Cookie is an opportunity for your entire family to take your bicycles and ride from one cookie stand to the next, gathering sweet rewards! The ride is on May 7, 2016. It starts and ends at Johns Hopkins University Montgomery County Campus in Rockville, MD, just off of Shady Grove Road. You may choose to ride a distance of 12, 26 or 42 miles. For our youngest participants there will be a very short children’s ride. Exercise your body and your sweet tooth, enjoy a Community Expo following your ride, and know you are helping abused and neglected children in the process. Come staff our table/booth and help with inflating tires and managing a crowd as needed. No bike mechanic skills needed.  Just bring an smile and cheery attitude!

We invite cyclists of all ages to join us on Saturday, May 2 for this exciting, fun-filled, and delicious bike ride from one cookie stand to the next. Choose between distances of 14 or 40 miles, and enjoy the scenery and the food! The aim of the event is to raise awareness of child abuse prevention and promote the services offered by The Tree House. All proceeds of the Tree House Tour de Cookie benefit The Tree House CAC, enabling us to better serve our clients.
