Trek Fuel 80 . . . what do you think?

Had a look at a Trek Fuel 70 today at the LBS, if I was to buy I would be going for the 80 for sure. I was impressed with the frame quality & seemed like a good bike (couldn't test ride as I had the kids with me). The other bike I'm really interested in at the moment is the Trance 3. Thoughts on comparison between the two models? Would the Trek frame quality be worth it over the overall Trance value? Does anyone know actual weights? I'd probably be around the 16" mark in both. A bit more info: I'm looking at a general riding duallie that's not going to need much upgrading (about 2k to spend) and has a bit of versatility. So far have mostly ridden trail / xc style I suppose. My last bike was a 01 Specialized Hardrock Comp.

hdtvkss

i dont ride one personly, but trek fuels are a great little race bike. The Trance is probably more all mountain than the Trek. weigts i dont know, but i would assume they would be similar. I would go a fuel 80 over the 70 based on specs Trek has great warranty to boot.

the trek Fuel 70 and 80 are on the heavy side, The giant trance is better value for money IMHO I think the weight of the Fuel 80 is about 15.5kg forks get a very bad review on mtbr.com

Cannon Fodder

I have been riding a trance for just over a month now. It is the best thing I've ever ridden

Misplaced

The Fuels a great Bike, but as much as I'm a huge Trek fan and own some, I have to say the Trance is much better value. good luck making the choice

The others I was considering are Norco Fluid 2 - may be a bit more bike than I need with a 130mm fork, Specialized FSR XC Kona Kikapu Deluxe - not sure on this one Value for money probably hard to go past the Trance 3 (comes with a years free servicing too), and reviews seem to be real good. I'm looking around the 2k mark or under if possible so the Norco is a tad over budget ($2400) but component wise comes pretty close to the Trance. Havent test ridden any yet as I wanted to narrow the choice down a bit more - was thinking of riding the Trance for sure, the Specialized and the Trek, but if the Trek is going to be 15kg plus I'll probably stay away as I am really after a decent fork that will last for quite a while and around 13kg would be great (that's what my hardtail was, so that would be fantastic!) 2 Mind you I've never been on a dually & would be good to test at least 2-3 bikes to have a bit of a idea comparison wise. Now if the Stumpy was in the same price braket..... (but would have to wait till the end of the year for that!)

I had a hardtail, yep only want a FS bike, where I ride lately just seems too bumpy for a hardtail. sorry to dissapoint.

What's the best disc brake out there?

Bodin said: 1. When asking for opinions on gear, please try and be specific. For instance, the "best" disc brake for DH might not be the "best" disc brake for XC, etc, etc, etc... 2. Please discuss disc brakes in a different thread. This is a specific thread about a specific bike and there are plenty of other threads on disc brakes that you can gravedig by using the search function. Knock yourselves out on those, but don't post disc-brake specific comments here. Click to expand...
Martin.au said: I'm not sure if this will help, but check out Raceline's extreme expert bikes. They have an NRS style suspension and probably come in at around 13 - 14kg at a guess. I haven't weighed or started serious research on them yet, but when it comes time to upgrade I'll certainly be testing one of them. If they're like their hardtails there will be a lifetime warranty on the frame, though I've no idea how well that works in reality. I've never had to claim. Click to expand...

You can install any 165mm (6.5") eye-to-eye shock with around 35 to 40mm stroke. On the real cheap end there's this and this .

9 Places Just Outside Moscow to Experience Rural Russia

Bobur by Nikolay Polissky

Moscow is a buzzing metropolis, but only a short car ride away from Russia’s capital are some tranquil getaways. From a boho art park to a literary museum-reserve to a riverside paradise—here are the best places for a short escape from the city that never sleeps.

Nikola lenivets art park.

Although rural Russia is not the first place you’ll go looking for contemporary art, Nikola Lenivets proves that otherworldly wooden installations scattered on a 650-hectare field can turn an abandoned village into a tourist mecca. Located only 220 kilometers (137 miles) from Moscow , this place is amazing in any season; however, in summer, visitors can test their gardening skills and create art objects.

Abramtsevo Museum-Reserve

In the Abramtsevo Museum-Reserve , you’ll get a chance to see what life in a Russian 19th-century estate was like. The Abramtsevo estate, set against a backdrop of unspoiled nature, rose to prominence in the middle of the 19th century. The place used to have some celebrated owners and equally famous visitors: writer Sergey Aksakov bought the estate in the 1840s, and after his death, entrepreneur Savva Mamontov purchased it, turning it into an artist community. At different times, writers Nikolai Gogol and Ivan Turgenev , as well as artists Ilya Repin , Valentin Serov , and Mikhail Vrubel, among others, frequented Abramtsevo.

Sukhanovo Estate

Ever wondered what the estate of the Bolkonsky family from Tolstoy’s War and Peace looks like in real life? Located near the city of Vidnoe in the Moscow region, this land was the property of the famous Volkonsky family. The magnificent manor used to host dazzling balls; the mausoleum houses the bodies of Prince and Princess Volkonsky, and the overgrown garden is home to an elegant pavilion. Sadly, most structures have deteriorated, but it’s still a great place to explore on a sunny day.

Bykovo Estate

If you take a 40-minute bus ride southeast of Moscow, you’ll find yourself in the blemished but still beautiful Bykovo Estate. Designed by celebrated Russian architect Vasily Bazhenov, the place is known for its spectacular Gothic-style church . Stroll through the forested park, past the charming pondside rotunda and admire the neo-Renaissance Bykovo manor.

Tchaikovsky House Museum in Klin

The nondescript city of Klin would have never become a tourist draw if it hadn’t been for the house museum of Tchaikovsky . Church of the Holy Life-Giving Trinity in Nikitniki, Moscow

No comments · Posted by Sergei Rzhevsky in Architecture , Cities , Religion

The Church of the Holy Life-Giving Trinity in Nikitniki (the Church of the Georgian Icon of the Mother of God on Varvarka) is a great example of the Russian (Muscovite) uzorochye of the middle of the 17th century.

It was built by Yaroslavl merchants in Kitay-Gorod, a cultural and historical area within the central part of Moscow , in 1628-1651. In Soviet times, this part of the city was built up with administrative buildings, but the church was preserved and used as a museum. What is an asn.

Autonomous System Numbers (ASNs) are assigned to entities such as Internet Service Providers and other large organizations that control blocks of IP addresses. This network page, and the organization field that's shown on the main IP address information page and also returned in the geolocation API are based on the ASN.

The ASN details will often correspond to the IP address owner, but for smaller organizations it may be that organization's parent, or their ISP. Find out more about AS25513 at robtex .

Old Trek Fuel 80 value? Saw a used Trek Fuel 80. I think it's a 2006. It has the older rear suspension before they went to the full-floater. Has Fox Float shock and a Manitou fork.
