“No boring weekend”: How Wilson Tours attracts Rwandans to home adventures

Elias Hakizimana & Desire Muhire.

Some Rwandans are said not to be tourism friendly and admiring people, which is, according to Wilson Habimana, a negative and common stereotype to reject.

Wilson Tours is proving that Rwandans are willing to engage in touristic activities, and it is a matter of time and instructions.

In 2013, Wilson realized that many Rwandans are surrounded by countless touristic opportunities and explored in vain, that is when he decided to found “ Wilson Tours and Travel Agency ltd”

“Some Rwandans have negative approaches that they cannot pay to see animals while they can watch them on TV, that is totally false. Tourism is a huge area, we are always hearing our youth screaming out and claiming about unemployment or lack of job opportunities, they never realize surrounding opportunities such being acquainted with Rwandan ecosystem and culture to sell to tourists who are ready to recompense them,” he observed.

“But, unfortunately, they come, sleep in hotels and return with their spend-supposed wealth as they lacked professional guides during their breaks” Habimana said, urging every single Rwandan to explore the beauty of Rwanda.”

Habimana told The Inspirer that his firm is always looking for ways of raising awareness and improve the mindset of Rwandans about domestic tourism at the same time creating more jobs for Rwandan people especially youth.

“We are very motivated to create more jobs for Rwandans; no boring weekend was set to help Rwandan avoid being bored during their weekends. We do everything possible to offer them effective tour guide so that they know the history, the culture and the beauty of their country,” he noted.

Tourism as source of money

As a pioneer and expert in this field, Habimana explains that Tourism is the sector that brings money to a mass of people and contributes to unemployment reduction.

“Tourism raises the welfare of people and makes a lot of income to the country,” Habimana said.

Incepted on December 3 rd , 2013, the firm struggled at its beginning but now has a hope to make effective tour guide where many Rwandans can understand the importance of knowing the beauty of their nation.

In line with creating more jobs to Rwandans, Wilson Tours offers short-time training to youth and employs them after one month. “We need to see Rwandan youth on duties in tourism so that we collect all foreign money to Rwanda. I found that our tourism can improve our welfare and plan a bright future of our descendants.” Habimana added.

Wilson Tours is led by three main pillars which are: Relax, discover and get connected.

Hope Hostel in Rwanda says it's ready for first migrants from UK

  • Published 3 days ago

Sudanese asylum seeker Daniel Diew

Hope Hostel in Rwanda has been ready to receive Britain's unwanted migrants for 664 days.

Now, after the UK parliament approved the legislation, the Rwandan government wants to fill these echoing rooms and halls within a matter of weeks.

Rwanda has largely stood back and watched the legal wrangling in Britain over the controversial plan to deport asylum seekers to this East African country.

UK courts have put Kigali's human rights record in the spotlight by demanding more protections for those sent here.

In the meantime, Rwanda has meticulously prepared for their arrival since June 2022, two months after the deal was agreed.

I got a tour of the eerily empty hostel in the capital, Kigali, from the manager, Ismael Bakina. Its bedrooms are laid out with care, furnished with details like prayer rugs and toiletries.

  • What is the UK's plan to send asylum seekers to Rwanda?

Gardeners trim the hedges of the lushly green grounds that boast a football pitch and basketball court, while cooks and cleaners busy themselves in a surreal performance of their duties.

There is also a tent with rows of chairs waiting to process the migrants' applications for asylum in Rwanda. If they don't qualify they'll still be eligible for residence permits. Or they could try to go to another country, but not back to the UK.

Mr Bakina tells me the hostel is ready to start operations at a moment's notice.

"Even if they arrived now, today not tomorrow, we are able to accommodate them," he says. "We are keeping our readiness 100%."

Apartments at the Hope Hostel

Through the windows of the hostel you can see the rolling hills of Kigali's tidy neighbourhoods. It is a beautiful city with streets that are orderly and safe from crime. "Rwanda works" is the country's motto.

Some of the new arrivals may seek jobs here, but there are mixed views about whether Rwanda needs new workers.

"I think it will be good economically for the nation," says Emmanuel Kanimba, the owner of a restaurant in Kigali.

"I know they will provide human capital, they will also produce goods and services and also consume. [Then there are the] new ideas they might bring to our economy."

"But where are you going to find the jobs for these people?" asks another man. "We ourselves have graduated but we have not yet secured jobs. We are out there searching for jobs."

He did not want to be identified talking about a view that opposed government policy, reflecting an undertow of fear in the country.

A critic of the scheme

There are widespread allegations that the authorities suppress dissent. The critics include human rights agencies, the political opposition, even assessments by the UK's Foreign Office as recently as 2021.

Victoire Ingabire , the outspoken opposition figure once jailed on charges of threatening state security, has used her case to argue that the asylum seekers are getting a bad deal.

"They are people who fled their country, because of poverty, because of war, because of the dictatorships they have in their country," she told the BBC.

"And they will come to a country where they will face the same problems, where they cannot express themselves for free, where they will not have the wellbeing they are looking for in the UK.

"I don't understand why the British government wants absolutely to send these people to Rwanda."

The Rwandan government strongly denies this.

And its parliament has passed a law to address the concerns of Britain's Supreme Court. This involved approving ratification of a recent treaty with the UK to strengthen protections for asylum seekers, including guarantees that they would not be sent back to the countries they'd fled.

Doris Uwicyeza Picard, Director of the Rwandan government’s Migration and Economic Development Partnership Coordination Unit

Our national laws are very clear about the right to protest, it is protected under specific circumstances Doris Uwicyeza Picard Director of Rwanda's Migration and Economic Development Partnership Coordination Unit

I asked the top official in charge of the UK deal, Doris Uwicyeza Picard, whether the migrants would be able to criticise the government and hold protests if they wanted to.

"Our national laws are very clear about the right to protest, it is protected under specific circumstances," she said.

"If they do wish to protest peacefully within the confines of the law, they're welcome."

But, she added, "you have to remember that refugees in general, and with regard to the political activities of refugees, they're restricted by the Refugee Convention".

Rwanda has welcomed other asylum seekers, and often points to a transit centre south of Kigali as proof that it can take care of them very well.

This is a camp that houses Africans who were stuck in Libya, trying to get to Europe, and is administered by the UN's refugee agency.

It is a temporary haven for vulnerable people while they sort out next steps. They could choose to settle in Rwanda. None have, says the camp manager, Fares Ruyumbu.

'I'm not able to get a job here'

Daniel Diew is grateful to be here after harrowing experiences. He is a tall thin young man from South Sudan with 11 brothers and sisters, and left his village to find work so he could help care for the family.

Mr Diew tried seven times to cross the sea from Libya to Italy, and says he landed in prison each time he was sent back.

He has his sights set on North America now.

"I'm not able to get a job here," he says.

"There aren't plenty of jobs as I see because I've spent five months here. But I always pray hard to get the chance to get out of Rwanda."

When I ask him how he would feel if he had been sent here after making it to Europe, he lets out a heavy sigh and says hopefully God would protect him from that.

For the migrants at the transit centre, and for those still to come, this is all about seeking a better future. Will Rwanda be a detour for them, a dead end or a new home?

Gary Wilson stands holding his cue in front of a snooker table with green backlighting at his North Shields club.

‘I thought I’d be a taxi driver for a long time’: Gary Wilson’s dream ride to Crucible

The ‘Tyneside Terror’ on his journey from child snooker prodigy to losing his tour card, before returning to the top at the Crucible

G ary Wilson was no longer folding crispy pancakes at the frozen food factory but he was a taxi driver when his long struggle to establish himself as one of the world’s best snooker players seemed an impossible dream. “That was the point where I started thinking: ‘It might never actually happen’,” Wilson says 13 years later. “I knew deep down it should and that, given the right circumstances, I would be good enough. But life doesn’t always work out as you want, does it? I was 25 and I thought I might be a taxi driver for a long time.”

There were times when Wilson was reduced to tears and, as he says, “generally, I’m not very emotional but that’s one area in my life where I’m very passionate. It’s my career and it’s been my dream for such a long time.”

We’re sitting in the deserted North Shields Snooker Centre, on the edge of Newcastle, and Wilson has spent an hour telling me his extraordinary back story as he prepares for the world championships which begin in Sheffield on Saturday. Wilson, 38, is the world No 10 and, having won two tournaments this season, he hopes to match or even better his finest performance at the Crucible. In the 2019 world championships he lost to Judd Trump, the eventual winner, in the semi-finals, and Wilson is a far better player now than he was then.

A child prodigy on the snooker table, Wilson was making century breaks at the age of nine and being interviewed by David Vine on television. But the transition to professionalism, at 18, was brutal. Wilson lost his tour card after his second year, in 2006, at a time when there were only six ranking tournaments.

For the next seven years he worked in a frozen food factory and as a taxi driver while dreaming of finding a way back into pro snooker. Wilson returned to an expanded tour in 2013 and now the “Tyneside Terror” is flourishing as one of the world’s best and most engaging players.

He started playing snooker on a miniature table at the age of four and when he was nine he was banned from some senior club matches because men from rival teams were not willing to lose to him. Wilson was already dreaming of becoming world champion. “Absolutely. My first memory of watching proper snooker was the world championship final with Jimmy White and Stephen Hendry in 1994 , which went to the wire. I was supporting Jimmy, but I respected Stephen more as a hero, because he’d done it all and dominated. I dreamt of what it would be like to win and be Stephen Hendry .”

Gary Wilson, wearing a black waistcoat adorned with an oriental pattern, leans on the edge of the snooker table as he plays a shot at Manchester Central

Last month Hendry had Wilson on as a guest on his podcast and they shared fascinating insights into the yips which have stalked them at different times. It was a sign of how far Wilson has come since the crushing disappointment of losing his tour place.

“It was the second day of the 2006 world championship qualifying, and I had to win that match to stay on tour. It was 8-8 but I lost 10-8 to James Tatton who fluked the frame ball in both the last two frames.

“I was devastated as you couldn’t get straight back on the tour like now. I was 20 and the dream was over, definitely for the short term. I was still living with Mam and Dad and I needed a job. I wanted to play snooker but it was time for some real life.”

His mother worked at the Findus frozen foods factory in Longbenton, just outside Newcastle, and Wilson followed her. “I did the 6am to 2pm shift and so I was up at 5.20am every morning. I’m terrible getting up but my mam would be up at 5am. She’d get me up as she was leaving and I’d be on the road by twenty to six. The good thing was that I’d finish at 2 o’clock and, albeit a little tired, practise snooker in the afternoon.”

What did he do in the factory? “All sorts but, mainly, it was folding crispy pancakes. There were wraps as well. The machines would put the fillings in and I would be folding them and passing them on. It was monotonous work and, deep down, I was thinking: ‘This isn’t what I want to do.’ I’m grown-up enough to know that I need to earn a living but, at the same time, it was devastating. Other players I grew up with were doing OK on tour and I’m in the Findus factory, wrapping frozen food for two years.”

Wilson laughs when I say I bet he’s never eaten a crispy pancake since then. “No. I never ate them when I was there either but we had some laughs and I liked the staff nights out.”

At 23, Wilson changed jobs. “In June 2009 I began working as a taxi driver for a company called Blue Line. I did night work at the start but then I thought: ‘If I’m going to play snooker as well, I’d rather go out at six in the morning and finish at three in the afternoon so I can still practise.’ I could make £100 to £120 a day and I was doing five or six days a week while playing snooker in my spare time. I found a proper structure.”

Wilson liked being a freelance driver but there were the occasional passengers who dodged paying him or were sick in the back of his cab. “There was a bunch of Scottish lads at the barracks and they were coming into the city centre for a drink and they were absolutely hammered getting in the car. I turned to the one in the back on the left nearside and saw this purple stuff come out of his mouth. It was all over the seat and the inside of my door.

“I was like: ‘Right, I’m not being funny. We’re stopping at the cashpoint.’ It was the cashpoint next to St James’s Park, and I say: ‘You’re getting £100 out.’ It was 10 o’clock at night and I was planning on another four hours of work. So there was loss of earnings and, obviously, the cleaning of the car. I escorted him to the cash machine and thankfully, he put his card in and I took my £100.

“I went straight home and my mam got the cleaning stuff out and I tried to get the worst of it off. First thing in the morning I was straight down to get it valeted. I still lost the whole of that day because, even though it had been valeted, the smell lingered. So a hundred quid was not a lot. But I’ve got some fond memories of my taxi days and I did it for five years.”

Gary Wilson looks across his North Shields club while sitting and holding his cue

Barry Hearn’s return to snooker promotion had transformed the tour and, by then, there were 25 tournaments. Wilson was around £10,000 in debt, having to travel and stay at qualifying tournaments, but the increased opportunities meant he had soon paid off the money he owed. “For the first three quarters of my first season back, I was still taxi driving. But I was getting closer and closer to the top 64 [in the world]. At the end of February 2014 I said to Blue Line: ‘I feel I’m doing well enough to go full time with the snooker. But if things don’t go according to plan would my job still be here?’ They said it would but, thankfully, I’ve not had to go back.”

There were still difficult days and Wilson remembers two specific occasions where he threw his cue in the dustbin and swore that he would never play again. “I was trying to qualify for the worlds at Ponds Forge and after I lost I came straight out and the cue got launched in the bin. I wasn’t putting on a show. I left it and walked up the road. But my dad was following and he picked it out of the bin. It happened another time, around 2016.”

Three years later Wilson made the semi-finals of the worlds after beating Luca Brecel, Mark Selby and Ali Carter before losing to Trump 17-11. “I didn’t play as well as I did earlier in the tournament. The table was heavier, drifting off more, and it got to me. With the fragilities of my cue action at the time, it was great when the tables were playing lovely. But when they weren’t as nice, it affected my game. I’m not blaming the conditions, it was more my fault.”

Last year Wilson lost in the second round to Selby who reached the final. But Brecel became the surprising world champion . The Belgian, who had never won a match at five previous world championships, was a rank outsider and he claimed not to have practised and, instead, said he drank heavily most nights during the tournament.

“I can’t believe it was to the extent he portrayed it,” Wilson says of Brecel. “Maybe he had a couple of drinks out every night. If you start having four, five drinks that’s going to affect you. But I do believe he was hardly practising and that he was going out and enjoying himself. I get that to an extent.”

Brecel has had limited success since becoming world champion and Wilson says: “Naturally he’s enjoyed his lifestyle. But maybe he’ll now think: ‘Let’s knuckle down again.’”

Did Brecel’s victory give Wilson and others on the fringe of the elite the belief that they, too, can become world champions? “He showed it can be done. But you don’t necessarily have to play your best game. You just have to play a good, solid game for a couple of weeks. Anyone near the top 16 knows it can be won.”

It took Wilson 18 years to win his first tournament – the 2022 Scottish Open. But this season he has won both the Scottish Open and the Welsh Open and, as he says with a smile on the eve of the world championships, “I’ve been told I might be a dark horse. I know if I play well I’ve got a chance of beating anyone. But it’s about playing well more times than not and that’s what I’m striving to do in every tournament. I want a bit more consistency.”

That pragmatic approach, forged in a frozen food factory and a taxi, has helped Wilson overcome doubts about his unusual cueing technique. The down-to-earth Tyneside Terror also remains, winningly, rooted in real life. “If I put my cue away now, I’ve got some money in the bank but it’s not going to last long. So you’ve got to remember that you’re doing something for a living that you’ve always loved and it’s a privilege to do so. I’ve always remembered where I’ve come from and what I’ve had and not had. I’m still pushing to have more, because you never know when it’s going to run dry.

“It’s a great season if you win a tournament and you stay in the top 16. I’ve won two this season and if I was to carry on like that every year then that’s a great, great career. You can’t guarantee it but, yeah, that’s the dream.”

Rolling Stones members Ronnie Wood (L), Mick Jagger and Keith Richards rock out in concert.

The Rolling Stones have decided who will “Start Them Up” on tour this year.

However, unlike most tours, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers are mixing things up and bringing different opening acts to each city they’re hitting on the spring and summer  ‘The Stones Tour ’24 Hackney Diamonds.’

Just a few of the big names joining them include Gary Clark Jr. ( April 28 in Houston ), Joe Bonamassa ( May 15 in Seattle ), Tyler Childers ( June 3 in Orlando ), KALEO ( June 11 in Philadelphia ) and Lainey Wilson ( June 30 in Chicago ).

As for their MetLife Stadium gigs, pop-soul outfit Lawrence is slated to kick things off at their Sunday, May 26 concert ; no opener has been announced for the Thursday, May 23 show .

And if you’ve been on the fence about catching Mick, Keith and Ronnie live because you fear exorbitant ticket prices, we’re happy to report that some shows have cheaper seats available than one might imagine.

At the time of publication, the lowest price we found on tickets was just $21 before fees on Vivid Seats.

Yes, you read that right. Just $21. We couldn’t believe it either.

Other nights have seats starting anywhere from $44 to $109 before fees (excluding festival dates).

Curious how much tickets cost and who will be opening for the Stones at the show nearest you this year?

While we can’t guarantee we’ll give you what you want, we promise you’ll get what you need.

Our team has all the details you’re looking for and more about the Rolling Stones’ 2024 ‘Hackney Diamonds Tour’ below.

This 16-concert run will be the group’s first official North American trek since 2019’s ‘No Filter Tour,’ which concluded two years later due to COVID-related postponements.

The Rolling Stones new music

On Oct. 20, the Stones released their 26th American studio album,  “Hackney Diamonds,”  featuring special guests Paul McCartney, Elton John, Lady Gaga and Stevie Wonder.

Comprised of 12 hard-rocking tracks that wouldn’t be out of place alongside their singalong stadium anthems of yore, “Diamonds” shows that Mick, Keith and Ronnie still have their sticky fingers on rock and roll’s pulse.

“We wouldn’t have put this album out if we didn’t really like it,” Jagger, 80, told Jimmy Fallon. “We must say that we are quite pleased with it. We’re not big-headed but we hope you like it.”

If you’re looking to sample the record, we suggest starting with the fierce lead track “Angry” and the wistful ballad “Dreamy Skies.”

Rebel Wilson claims she was offered $2 million to spend a weekend with a Jordanian prince

Rebel Wilson has claimed that a member of the Royal family invited her to a drug-fuelled orgy at the home of a US tech billionaire.

The actress makes the allegation in her memoir, Rebel Rising. She does not name the minor royal in question, but said that the party took place in 2014.

“I got thrown a last-minute invite to a tech billionaire’s party – the guy who invited me, who’s like fifteenth or twentieth in line to the British throne, had said to my male friend, ‘We need more girls’,” she writes.

The party was at a rented ranch just outside Los Angeles and had a medieval theme. Wilson wore a “buxom damsel outfit complete with cone hat. It was a vibe.”

She recalled: “The party was insane. Men were jousting on horses in a field, girls dressed as mermaids were in the pool … The property was massive, and because it was quite a drive, people had been assigned rooms to sleep there overnight.”

Pile of party drugs on a tray

Describing the events of that night, Wilson said: “I watch the British royal flounder around whilst I continuously hike up my boobs … There’s a huge private fireworks display and then all of a sudden it’s 2am and a guy comes out with a large tray piled with what looks like a ton of candy.

“I’m like, ‘Ooooh, is that candy?’ and the guy holding the tray says, ‘No, this is the molly [MDMA],’ and I turned to the screenwriter I’ve been talking with, confused. He says, ‘Oh, it’s for the orgy … the orgies normally start at these things about this time.’”

She writes: “Now the comment by the Windsor about needing more girls started to make a lot more sense. They weren’t talking about a boy-girl ratio like it was a year-eight disco. They were talking about an ORGY!”

Wilson said: “Needless to say, I hike up my damsel dress and run out of there as fast as I can.”

The Australian actress said that, in the same year, she was offered $2 million to spend a weekend with a Jordanian prince. She was “flattered by the offer” but turned it down.

Accusations against Sacha Baron Cohen

Another chapter of Rebel Rising is entitled Sacha Baron Cohen and Other A–holes . The actress planned to publish allegations about Baron Cohen’s behaviour on the set of their film The Brothers Grimsby .

However, after Baron Cohen strenuously denied the allegations via his lawyers, HarperCollins was forced to redact a full page of claims.

One of the pages of Rebel Rising containing the redacted claims

Wilson begins to describe a scene being shot at a football stadium in Cape Town. “What followed was the worst experience of my professional life. An incident that left me feeling bullied, humiliated, and compromised. It can’t be printed here due to peculiarities of the law in England and Wales,” she says, before the redactions begin.

In the memoir, Wilson, 44, chronicles her career, weight issues and sexuality.

After starting out in her native Australia, she moved to Hollywood in 2010 and made her breakthrough with a supporting role in the hit comedy Bridesmaids. Her other credits include Pitch Perfect, Jojo Rabbit and the Cats movie.

In 2017, she was awarded a record-breaking A$4.5 million (£2.3 million) in Australia’s largest defamation payout, arguing that a series of magazine articles published by Bauer Media had wrongly portrayed her as a serial liar.

Back on the road, Nancy Wilson of Heart still kicking at 70

Nancy Wilson, at age 70, can still perform her signature kick move while sporting her guitar.

“I can do that and more!” she told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on a Zoom call from her home in Sonoma, California, on the eve of the 2024 Heart tour. “I can’t not dance and move.”

The tour, which will run throughout the year, started April 20 in Greenville, South Carolina. It’s the first time the band has hit the road since 2019.

“I’m happy for us to be together again,” she said. “It’s been a little too long for us to get back out there.”

Wilson said a combination of the pandemic and behind-the scenes management changes delayed Heart’s return. For the first time, the sisters have different managers, resulting in what she called “power grabbing” disputes.

“There were extra moving parts to sort out what was highly unnecessary drama,” she said. “We finally sorted it out and now we’re here.”

The band spent more than a week in rehearsals before the tour began.

“There are a lot of things about Heart songs that are not simple,” Wilson said. “There are intricacies in these songs to get right.”

At the same time, perfection is not the goal: “It will be fun regardless of the mistakes that we make. In my view, it’s definitely a human show.”

Heart uses no prerecorded music. Every note is live.

“Last New Year’s Eve, we had only done our third show with this lineup. We had to start a song over,” she said. “We forgot to transpose the keyboard. People were surprisingly appreciative of the mistake we made. Sometimes, the imperfections are the perfection of it.”

The bottom line is she still gets plenty of joy being on stage performing rock classics like “Magic Man,” “Barracuda” and “Crazy on You,” along with “These Dreams,” in which she sings lead.

The rituals before the concert, though, are far different than they were in the cocaine-addled 1980s . Now it’s a diffuser with calming scents, homeopathic arnica pellets to reduce swelling, vitamin C pills and a yoga room backstage.

“We used to be made out of rubber in our 30s,” she said. “We now have a wellness space for massage and strengthening.”

Over the decades, both sisters have worked in other bands, but they always come back to Heart, which Wilson dubs “the family business.”

“We’ve had a band together since I was like 9,” she said. “We’ve always been tight and soulmates and best friends. We’ve had our ups and downs. Mostly outside influences have made it challenging for us to find our emotional footing with each other. But first and foremost we are sisters. And secondly, we have to steer this business venture.”

Part of the business is doing publicity and she has been entirely game this go around. For instance, earlier this month, she grinned through a cheeky version of Bonnie Tyler’s “Total Eclipse of the Heart” with Jimmy Fallon during the actual eclipse.

“We have been friends with Jimmy for a long time,” she said. “I knew him when he made a cameo in ‘Almost Famous,’” the classic 2000 film from her ex-husband Cameron Crowe to which she contributed original music.

And she had no problem jousting with Howard Stern. “We actually really hit it off,” she said. “I knew him when he was more of an [expletive]. He’s turned into a real human now. He’s become a real masterful interviewer.”

That extensive Stern interview included tidbits like the Van Halen brothers wanting to hook up with the Wilson sisters , which she said did not happen, as well as an extensive discussion of their 2012 cover of “Stairway to Heaven” in front of the living members of Led Zeppelin, who were being honored by the Kennedy Center.

“It was such a beautiful moment,” she said. “It connects the feeling of history in rock and roll, the through line that ‘Stairway to Heaven’ brings us to modern-day culture. People are still discovering how significant and emotional that connection can be today.”

Their respect and adoration for Led Zeppelin has never waned and there is a 100% chance they will cover at least one Zeppelin song on the current tour.

“We have to try to not do too many Zeppelin songs!” she said, with a chuckle. “We can’t help it!”

They’ve also come to embrace their legendary status as many of their peers start to retire.

“People say we’re the grandmothers of rock and roll and broke the glass ceiling,” Wilson said. “It’s true. When ‘Dreamboat Annie’ came out in 1975, there were no female role models for us.”

NEW YORK (AP) — Heart — the pioneering band that melds Nancy Wilson’s shredding guitar with her sister Ann’s powerhouse vocals — is hitting the road this spring and fall for a world tour that Nancy Wilson describes as “the full-on rocker size.”

“I’ve been strengthening. I’ve got my trainer,” she says. “You go one day at a time and you strengthen one workout session at a time. It’s a lot of work, but it’s the only job I know how to do.”

The Rock & Roll Hall of Famers who gave us classic tracks like “Magic Man,” “Crazy on You” and “Alone” will be playing all the hits, some tracks from of their solo albums — like Ann Wilson’s “Miss One and Only” and Nancy Wilson’s “Love Mistake” — and a new song called “Roll the Dice.”

“I like to say we have really good problems because the problem we have is to choose between a bunch of different, really cool songs that people love already,” says Nancy Wilson.

Like “Barracuda,” a sonic burst which first appeared on the band’s second album, “Little Queen” and is one of the band’s most memorable songs.

“You can’t mess with ‘Barracuda.’ It’s just the way it is. It is great. You get on the horse and you ride. It’s a galloping steed of a ride to go on. And for everybody, including the band.”

The tour kicks off Saturday at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina, and will hit cities including Atlanta, Boston, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, Cleveland, Detroit, as well as the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado. International dates include stops in London, Oslo, Berlin, Stockholm, Montreal and Glasgow.

The band’s Royal Flush Tour will have Cheap Trick as the opening act for many stops, but Def Leppard and Journey will join for three stadium dates in Cleveland, Toronto and Boston this summer.

Ann and Nancy Wilson will be filled out by Ryan Wariner (lead and rhythm guitar), Ryan Waters (guitars), Paul Moak (guitars, keyboards and backing vocals), Tony Lucido (bass and backing vocals) and Sean T. Lane (drums).

The tour is the first in several years for Heart, which was rocked by a body blow in 2016 when Ann Wilson’s husband was arrested for assaulting Nancy’s 16-year-old twin sons. Nancy Wilson says that’s all in the past.

“We can take any kind of turbulence, me and Ann, and we’ve always been OK together,” she says. “We’re still steering the ship and happy to do it together. So we’re tight.”

The new tour will take them to Canada, which was warm to the band when they were starting out as what Nancy Wilson calls “a couple of chicks from Seattle.” She recalls Vancouver embracing Heart, and touring in one van across Canada in the dead of winter on two lane highways.

The Wilson sisters broke rock’s glass ceiling in the ‘70s and Nancy Wilson says they only had male influences to look to, like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and the Moody Blues.

Now she says she looks out and loves seeing generations of female rockers. “You have boygenius and you have Billie Eilish and you have Olivia Rodrigo and so many amazing women — Maggie Rogers and Sheryl Crow, who calls us her big influence. And then Billie Eilish might have Sheryl Crow as her influence. So it’s a really nice legacy to pass along. I like to say we’re the OG — the original gangsters — of women and rock.”

Heart has made it into the Rock Hall, won Grammys, sold millions of albums and rocked hundreds of thousands of fans but Nancy Wilson has one place she’d still like to shine.

Next year will mark the 50th anniversary of their debut album, “Dreamboat Annie,” which was the same year that “Saturday Night Live” started. “So we’re actually kind of putting it out there — Heart never played on ‘Saturday Night Live.’ But what about the 50th birthday party with Heart?”
