From there your adventure will begin as we hop in one of our 4x4 adventure vans and take a scenic ride into the mountains above Kaanapali. REQUIREMENTS

AGE: Guests must be 10 or older, and all guests ages 10-14 must have an adult zipping in their party. A legal guardian must sign a release and waiver to allow kids under 18 to zip.   WEIGHT: Must weigh between 80-260 pounds. This requirement is strictly enforced and all participants will be weighed during the check-in process. 

SCUBA DIVING: For your safety, we ask that you schedule your zipline tour more than 24 hours after any scuba diving excursion. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Able to hike 2-2 1/2 miles at elevation over uneven surfaces
• Free of chronic heart problems
• Not pregnant - unfortunately, it's unsafe to zip while pregnant 
• You should not have had recent surgery; especially on ankles, knees, or back. If you have serious neck, back, or joint injuries, you should also check with your doctor.
• The inherent risks of walking on unimproved hiking trails and joint impacts associated with zipline landings should be considered before going on a zipline tour

CLOTHING AND EQUIPMENT

SHOES: For your safety, we ask that you wear shoes with a fully-enclosed toe and heel, like an athletic or hiking shoe. Shoes must be snug. (No water shoes. No Teva or Keen-type sandals with open sections or 5-finger shoes.)  CAMERAS: Cameras and cell phones are welcome, however, we recommend you securely strap them to yourself. Additionally, GoPro cameras are available to rent.   DRESS APPROPRIATELY: For your comfort, we recommend wearing shorts and a t-shirt.

Kaanapali Zipline Tours

High above Kaanapali Beach on the slopes of the West Maui Mountains lies a hidden adventure you can't see from the resorts below. The Kaanapali Zipline adventures begin with check in at the Kaanapali Skyline storefront location in the Fairway Shops along Highway 30 in Kaanapali. From there you will be transported on an exciting off road vehicle into the rugged foothills of Mount Kahalawai (the West Maui Mountains).

From the zipline tour site you'll enjoy sweeping views of West Maui, and the islands of Lanai and Molokai. The Pacific Ocean looks bigger from up here than it does down at the beach, and it provides the perfect backdrop for each of the Kaanapali zipline crossings.

8-line Zipline Adventure

$189.95 per Adult, $189.95 per Child (14 and under) (plus 4.712% Hawaii sales tax)

The original Kaanapali Zipline course has 8 lines ranging from 350' to 1000' feet in length. Zipping high above a seasonal mountain stream and over two different valleys, guests get to experience an otherwise inaccessible area of Maui (and soar above it)! Halfway through the tour, check out the panoramic 1000 foot overlook. Then it's on to the second half of the tour as the lines get longer and faster! Tour duration is approximately 3.5 hours. Available daily. Tour times are currently 8am and 12pm. Water stations with cups are located throughout the course, and you will get Aloha Maid juice at the end of the tour.

11-line Zipline Adventure

$0.00 per (plus 4.712% Hawaii sales tax)

On this tour participants do the regular 8 line zipline course, plus three additional lines they have added! The ultimate Kaanapali Zipline experience! Tour duration is approximately 4.5 hours. Available daily at 8:00am and 12 noon.

Minimum age for these tours is 10; anyone under 18 must have a legal guardian present at checkin. All participants must sign a waiver of piability prior to taking this tour. Minimum weight is 80 pounds and maximum weight is 260 pounds. No one who is pregnant may participate and anyone with a history of neck, back, or joint injuries or chronic heart problems should use their own discretion about their capabilities to safely participate in these tours. Guests who are zip lining must be in good enough health to hike for two miles. No smoking on these tours. All tours go out rain or shine; a minimum of 48 hours notice is required for cancellations or changes. No scuba diving within 24 hours of the start of these tours.

Hiking boots or athletic shoes are required (no Tevas, Keens, Crocs, etc). Shorts and a short-sleeved shirt are recommended. White clothing is NOT recommended.

Cruise Ship Clients

NCL cruise ship passengers are able to do this tour on Sunday afternoon or Monday morning; drive time is almost an hour from the dock so we recommend a rental car which we can arrange for you.

Lahaina cruise ship passengers can do any of these tours with a 10 minute cab ride from the Lahaina dock if it fits your arrival and departure schedule. Please note that Lahaina is a tender port ... allow ample time to wait for a shuttle boat to take you to shore.

ACTIVITY TIPS

This tour is operated by the folks who started the zipline craze here in Hawaii with Maui's first course on the slopes of Haleakala. This Kaanapali course represents the second generation of zipline tours as there are more lines here and the lines are longer.

There are two different "technologies" used in zipline tours today. The classic zipline tour uses a climbing harness, carabiners, and a single attachment point to a small trolley which rides on the line. The newer and more heavy duty system that has popped up on many courses installed in the last few years uses a paragliding harness that feels like a built-in seat, with two attachment points (one on either side of you) to a much larger trolly. This type of equipment allows for longer lines and higher speeds (think lines that are a half mile long or more), but it feels more like a "ride" than a classic zipline. The Kaanapali Zipline tour uses the classic climbing harness, but has lines that are really long. Both types of ziplines are fun, but this classic type will make you feel more like an action hero in a "Die Hard" or "James Bond" sequel!

Please note the weight limits ... guests must weigh between 80 pounds and 260 pounds. If you weigh 280 and say on the reservation form that you weigh 255, you will regret that decision. All participants are weighed upon check in, and if you fall outside of the range you will not get to do the tour and you won't get a refund. The reason for the weight restrictions? Participants who weigh less than 80 pounds will consistently run out of speed near the end of a zipline and when they fail to reach the other side they will stop and then roll back to the middle of the line. This isn't dangerous at all (as a matter of fact it can be fun to get stuck in the middle), but it takes significant time for a guide to rig up and extract the stuck individual. One or two guests who consistently come up short would throw their tour schedule into disarray. Participants who weigh over 260 pounds would cause a different problem. This one IS safety related. It isn't that the equipment can't handle the weight ... it could handle the weight of a pregnant elephant. But heavy passengers can come in too fast exceeding the capacity of the braking system to safely slow them down. If someone in your party is right on the line at the weight limit, be honest about their weight when making a reservation and take appropriate measures (usually dieting). Then at least 48 hours before the tour stop by their location and get weighed. Anyone can be dropped from the reservation and get their money refunded if it is done at least 48 hours before the start of the tour. This gives them a chance to sell the space to someone else.

Because of the remote location and the four wheel drive transportation required to access this private mountainous area, no observers are permitted to ride along on these tours.

There is a modest amount of hiking on the 8-line tour, but it isn't paticularly demanding as it is mostly downhill. The tour operator says that participants must be able to hike for 2 miles to do this tour; there isn't nearly that much actual hiking during the tour, but they don't want people out there for whom the thought of doing a two mile hike is out of the question. You don't have to be a buffed athelete to do this tour, but you should be in reasonable physical condition and in overall good health. Oh, no upper arm and body strength is required. The harness and lanyard carry all your weight and you are securely clipped in. You wouldn't fall if you let go. The one exception to that rule is the water zipline on the "Zip and Dip" tour where, of course, the ultimate goal is to let go, fall in, and get wet.

• From Kahului and Kihei: Follow Honoapi’ilani Highway 3 miles north past Lahaina. Skyline Eco-Adventures is located in the Ka’anapali Fairway Shops just off the Honoapi’ilani Highway. Drive past the main entrance to Ka’anapali/Ka’anapali Parkway and you will then pass underneath an overhead bridge. The store will be on the left in the Fairway Shops From Kapalua, Kahana and Napili: Follow Honoapi’ilani Highway south to Ka’anapali. Skyline Eco-Adventures is located in the Ka’anapali Fairway Shops just off Honoapi’ilani Highway. Drive past the north entrance to Ka’anapali, and their store will be on the right in the Fairway Shops. If you pass under an overhead bridge, you have gone too far.

We have got a wonderfull time. The two guides Eddie and his workmate are very nice, funny, helpfull and make us feel safe. Thanks for a good time. 8 Ziplines are so amazing.

Everything was safe and organized and they provided plenty of cold water. Be prepared for a bit of tough walking on back roads!

Starting out at an elevation of 1800 feet, this half-day Mount Kahalawai adventure is rich with Hawaiian legend, breathtaking views, plunging cliffs, lush valleys, and even waterfalls!  View the islands in a completely different way that no other activity can compare!

This tour includes 8 or 11 Zipline crossings over the course of 3.5-4 hours and each group consists of 4-12 participants.  A delicious snack is served at the edge of a 1,000-foot overlook providing unforgettable breathtaking views of the island!

This tour was voted Hawaii Eco Tour Operator of the Year by the Hawaii Eco Tourism Association in 2004 making it the first Maui-based tour to win this award, and has even been featured on popular Travel Channel shows such as Little People, Big World and The Kids are in Charge: Family Vacation, as well as the Equitrekking Show on PBS in 2007 and 2008.

Requirements and restrictions for all participants:

Description

Hidden from the resorts below lies an adventure on the slopes of the West Maui Mountain and high above Kaanapali Beach. The Kaanapali Zipline tour offers vast views of West Maui, and the islands of Lanai and Molokai. The adventure starts at the Kaanapali Skyline storefront location in the Fairway Shops along Highway 30 in Kaanapali. After you check in here, an off road vehicle will tranport you into the rugged foothills of Mount Kahalawai (the West Maui Mountains). The expanse of the Pacific ocean provides a stunning backdrop for the thrilling Kaanapali zipline crossings!

This Kaanapali Zipline course soars high above a seasonal mountain stream and over two diffrent valleys. The adventure has 8 lines ranging from 350' to 1000' feet in length, and you will fly above areas that are otherwise inaccessible. Take a break halfway through the tour, and gaze over the edge of a panoramic 1000 foot overlook. The next half of the tour the lines get faster and longer!

Duration: Approximately 4 hours

Tour includes: Water stations with cups are located throughout the course. Aloha Maid juice is included at the end of the tour.

Restrictions: Minimum age for this tour is 10; anyone under 18 must have a legal guardian present at check in. Ages 10 to 14 must have an adult with them on the tour. All participants must sign a waiver of liability prior to taking this tour. Minimum weight is 80 pounds and maximum weight is 260 pounds. No one who is pregnant may participate and anyone with a history of neck, back, or joint injuries or chronic heart problems should use their own discretion about their capabilities to safely participate in this tour. Guests who are zip lining must be in good enough health to hike for two miles. No smoking on this tour. No scuba diving within 24 hours of the start of this tour.

What to Wear: Hiking boots or athletic shoes are required (no Tevas, Keens, Crocs, etc). Longer shorts and a short-sleeved shirt are recommended. White clothing is NOT recommended.

Reservations: Advanced reservations required and we recommend booking this a month or more before your arrival. This event is "RESERVE NOW PAY LATER"; we need a credit card on file to finalize your reservation but we do not charge you for this reservation until a few days before the beginning of your vacation!

Minimum Notice for Cancellations / Changes: At least 48 hours before the start of the event. All tours go out rain or shine.

This tour is operated by the folks who started the zipline craze here in Hawaii with Maui's first course on the slopes of Haleakala. This Kaanapali course represents the second generation of zipline tours as there are more lines here and the lines are longer.

There are two different "technologies" used in zipline tours today. The classic zipline tour uses a climbing harness, carabiners, and a single attachment point to a small trolley which rides on the line. The newer and more heavy duty system that has popped up on many courses installed in the last few years uses a paragliding harness that feels like a built-in seat, with two attachment points (one on either side of you) to a much larger trolly. This type of equipment allows for longer lines and higher speeds (think lines that are a half mile long or more), but it feels more like a "ride" than a classic zipline. The Kaanapali Zipline tour uses the classic climbing harness, but has lines that are really long. Both types of ziplines are fun, but this classic type will make you feel more like an action hero in a "Die Hard" or "James Bond" sequel!

Please note the weight limits ... guests must weigh between 80 pounds and 260 pounds. If you weigh 280 and say on the reservation form that you weigh 255, you will regret that decision. All participants are weighed upon check in, and if you fall outside of the range you will not get to do the tour and you won't get a refund. The reason for the weight restrictions? Participants who weigh less than 80 pounds will consistently run out of speed near the end of a zipline and when they fail to reach the other side they will stop and then roll back to the middle of the line. This isn't dangerous at all (as a matter of fact it can be fun to get stuck in the middle), but it takes significant time for a guide to rig up and extract the stuck individual. One or two guests who consistently come up short would throw their tour schedule into disarray. Participants who weigh over 260 pounds would cause a different problem. This one IS safety related. It isn't that the equipment can't handle the weight ... it could handle the weight of a pregnant elephant. But heavy passengers can come in too fast exceeding the capacity of the braking system to safely slow them down. If someone in your party is right on the line at the weight limit, be honest about their weight when making a reservation and take appropriate measures (usually dieting). Then at least 48 hours before the tour stop by their location and get weighed. Anyone can be dropped from the reservation and get their money refunded if it is done at least 48 hours before the start of the tour. This gives them a chance to sell the space to someone else.

Because of the remote location and the four wheel drive transportation required to access this private mountainous area, no observers are permitted to ride along on these tours.

There is a modest amount of hiking on the 8-line tour, but it isn't paticularly demanding as it is mostly downhill. The tour operator says that participants must be able to hike for 2 miles to do this tour; there isn't nearly that much actual hiking during the tour, but they don't want people out there for whom the thought of doing a two mile hike is out of the question. You don't have to be a buffed athelete to do this tour, but you should be in reasonable physical condition and in overall good health. Oh, no upper arm and body strength is required. The harness and lanyard carry all your weight and you are securely clipped in. You wouldn't fall if you let go.

After a short briefing, you’ll board one of Skyline’s rugged 4×4 vehicles to begin a journey to the tour location, which is situated on private property above historic sugar cane fields near beautiful Kahoma Valley. After a few minutes on the road and a short trek up an old sugar cane road (hold on…it can get a little bumpy!), our expert tour guides greet you at the Ka’anapali gear pavilion. If you haven’t gotten into the adventure mood yet, that is sure to change as you are outfitted with one of our custom harnesses and the rest of the gear you will need to get you through the next few hours.

Following a bit more familiarization by the guides, it is on to the zipping! As you head further up the mountain, the hustle and bustle of Front Street fade away behind you, and a private adventure lies ahead. The incredible coastal views of Maui and the outer islands of Molokai, Lanai, and Kaho’olawe get better and better as the ride continues. A few minutes later you will arrive at your first zipline!

This adventure with Jungle Zipline Maui includes 8 amazing Ziplines, 4 tree platforms, a stunning 85-foot long tree to tree suspension bridge, two swinging bridges, 1 Quick Jump Free Fall Ride (This ride is optional and you can skip this if you like). We provide water and granola bars half way through the tour, and chips and drinks after the tour . After your tour, you can explore our tropical park!

What to Bring:

Must have closed-toed shoes with a heel strap (NO HIGH HEELS). Must be able to walk up a flight of stairs. Athletic or hiking shoes are required. NO OPEN TOE SHOES allowed on the course. Pants or long shorts are recommended. We also don’t recommend wearing white.

Ka'anapali Skyline Adventure

We Keep You Safe So You Can Have Fun

• You'll be fitted with a padded 3-point harness on your shoulders, waist, and thighs, which will give you a full range of movements.
• All of our equipment, including helmets, are certified and meet all safety requirements.
• Then you'll be connected to a Continuous Belay System —from the moment the safety hook is attached to your harness, till you are back on the ground, there is no way it can be disconnected.
• Your guide will do all the braking , so you can relax, admire the views or freestyle your way to the end of the zip with ease!
• Gloves - Although gloves are not a requirement, we supply gloves as an extra layer of safety.

As you know our community on Maui has suffered tremendous loss. NorthShore Zipline Co. itself is safe and we haven’t had any property damage but our staff team is grieving right now as many in our community have lost loved ones, homes and more - everyone has been impacted in some way. Thank you for your offers of help and support.

Many guests are wondering what to do with their travel arrangements and have concerns about cancellations or what they should do. Please know that if you cancel your trip we will refund your tour - but let us know! If you do choose to come to Maui we are 100% open and continuing our operations. We are committed to our staff, our local community and to serving you.

This is a challenging time and we are honored that people want to help. There are many organizations doing good work to support affected families and we encourage you to find one that aligns with your heart and to give generously.

ZIPLINE REQUIREMENTS

• Chevron down WEIGHT FOR ZIPLINING

Ziplining guests must weigh between 60 and 250 pounds. Weigh-ins are mandatory, and refunds are not provided if you do not fall into this weight range.

• Chevron down AGE FOR ZIPLINING

Guests must be at least 10 years old to zipline. Adults must accompany on tour children ages 10-17.

• Chevron down LIABILITY RELEASE FORM FOR ZIPLINING

Ziplining forms are provided on-site. A parent or legal guardian must sign the release for children under the age of 18 to zipline.

• Chevron down ZIPLINE PHOTOS & VIDEOS

Cameras and cell phones are not recommended on the ziplines due to extreme heights and potential rainfall. A custom photo package of each zipline tour is available for purchase. We offer GoPro camera rentals as well.

• Chevron down CAPACITY & REFUND POLICY

Maximum 10 guests per zipline tour.

For a full refund, cancel your zipline reservation with 48 hours’ notice. After that time, no refunds will be made. Zipline tours run rain or shine.

• Chevron down APPAREL FOR ZIPLINING

Wear comfortable clothes and fully closed-toe and closed-heel hiking or athletic shoes for ziplining. Water shoes and sandals of any kind are not permitted for ziplining. Sunglasses and sunscreen are recommended. Light jackets are recommended and can be provided.

• Chevron down PHYSICAL CONDITIONS FOR ZIPLINING

Ziplining guests should be in moderately good health and be able to hike on dirt terrain. Please bring your medications if you are allergic to insect stings. Anyone under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be allowed to participate in ziplining.

• Chevron down HEALTH RESTRICTIONS

Ziplining guests must not be pregnant nor have heart conditions or have had recent surgeries or injuries that have not healed, or for which their physician has not released them from medical care.

I had the best time ever. I am totally afraid of heights, however this was amazing. The guides were very knowledgeable and a blast to be with. I would definitely do this again and on the longer higher runs.

Our guides Mark, Jonathon, and Ikaika were all amazing. They really made me feel so comfortable. My favorite part about the tour was actually the information Jonathon provided. He gave us great local spots on the island for things to do and places to eat. I wish I had more time here to explore them all but we got to go to a couple of the places he recommended. They really made us feel like we were locals! It was definitely my favorite part of the trip and will be returning with my family.

I would highly recommend booking with Ethan and Mike. Memorable experience. This is our second time doing this and this time was even better than when we first went a few years ago. We made it our first activity for our 10 year anniversary and they made it special for us.

Had the best experience here while on vacation in Maui! I have Ziplined before but this was for sure my favorite experience. Not only were the courses beautiful, the lines were so well kept, the scenery was amazing and it was so exhilarating. We went on a rainy day but it didn't kill the vibe at all, it was amazingly beautiful and there were SO many rainbows! I 100% would recommend coming here for your travel ziplining experience, I really enjoyed this. Worth every penny paid.

My friend and I did the earliest zip line that day, which was a great choice. It was before it got too hot during the day, and there was only one other couple with us, so it was a more intimate group and made it feel special. Jasmine was our guide and she was amazing! Super fun and helpful, and gave us great local tips for restaurants and beaches. Definitely do at least 6 lines, worth the extra dollars.

This was a great way to spend an afternoon in Maui. The runs were unbelievable with great views and exciting course but best of all were the guides who were professional and fun both which are important when ziplining.

My two daughters and I went on the 6 line package. Breathtaking views and exhilarating lines. Justin and Carly were fantastic and really added to the experience. Highlight of our trip to Maui. Safe and exciting at the same time. Would highly recommend this to anybody!

The views were spectacular! Our guides were VERY SAFE! The zips were so much fun. We've zipped several times and this is the first time our gear was COMFORTABLE. The gear has a sort of seat instead of just straps around your bottom. I highly recommend this zipline adventure.
