The poster for Disney Wish’s Avengers: Quantum Encounter show

Avengers: Quantum Encounter is the newest Marvel team-up, but it’s not going to be easy to see. The new story will be an experience exclusive to the new the new Wish cruise ship , Disney announced on Tuesday .

As you may have guessed from the name , Quantum Encounter focuses on Ant-Man and The Wasp , who are giving a presentation on new Pym Tech that gets crashed by Ultron and an army of Robots. The story will star both Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly, who will team up with Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel and Anthony Mackie in his first group outing as Captain America. Ross Marquand ( The Walking Dead ) will voice Ultron. There will also be a special surprise cameo from another hero, but we don’t know who that is just yet.

Avengers: Quantum Encounter will be an integral part of Disney’s new Wish cruise ship. The show will take place during dinner and will include interactable sections for diners, as well as hundreds of screens and specially designed effects to enhance the show and the dining experience. The show also includes a full CGI re-creation of the Wish’s upper decks, which is where most of the battles in it take place.

Avengers: Quantum Encounter has apparently finished filming and will be ready for the Wish’s launch in summer 2022.

All About 'Avengers:' Quantum Encounter, Disney Cruise Line's New Marvel Dining Experience at Sea

Disney Wish passengers will enter the Marvel cinematic universe at this immersive dinner attraction.

Over two months after unveiling their ambitious plans for the upcoming Disney Wish ship , Disney Cruise Line has released more details about one of the most-buzzed-about features on board: An immersive Marvel-themed dining concept called Avengers : Quantum Encounter.

Part of the ship's Worlds of Marvel restaurant, the experience promises to be an attraction in itself, with a Disney Imagineer-crafted storyline featuring Ant Man and The Wasp, who will host a "special presentation of the most powerful Super Hero technologies." Captain American and Captain Marvel are also set to make an appearance at the height of the show.

Dinner will be interactive for all guests, with each table getting its own Quantum Core, "a brand-new device that can cause objects to shrink and grow remotely." Once they're activated, "the entire venue will become supercharged as energy pulses through the power channels in the walls and ceiling," according to Disney's press release.

While the exact menu for Worlds of Marvel hasn't been revealed, the restaurant will aim to have a "worldly menu," with dishes inspired by African Wakanda, Eastern European Sokovia and the Avengers' home base of New York City.

Other restaurants that will be exclusive to this ship include Arrandale, a Frozen theatrical dinner experience featuring Nordic-inspired cuisine, and 1923, an old Hollywood-themed spot designed to "pay homage to the golden age of animation."

Additionally, adult passengers can grab an intergalactic cocktail at Star Wars : Hyperspace Lounge, a bar designed to look like a space ship that will "travel" to different planets from the Star Wars universe.

While Disney Cruise Line has still not announced when sailings out of the U.S. will resume following suspension of all itineraries in March 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic , the Disney Wish is still on track to make her maiden voyage in summer 2022.

Disney's Newest Cruise Ship Will Feature an Epic Marvel-themed Dining Experience

Introducing Avengers: Quantum Encounter.

avengers cruise ship movie

Dinner and a show will get a major twist when Disney debuts its new cruise ship next year.

Passengers aboard Disney Cruise Line's Disney Wish ship will be able to take part in an interactive "cinematic dining experience" based on the Marvel universe when the ship makes its maiden voyage in Summer 2022.

Referred to in a blog post shared this week as its "most ambitious dining experience ever" the Avengers: Quantum Encounter restaurant in the ship's Marvel World, puts diners right inside their favorite action films.

As guests sit down Ant-Man and The Wasp will greet them while screens around the restaurant will get the audience in on the action, showing them holographic models and field reports from the Marvel universe. And, because Ant-Man is in charge of the action, diners can expect everything in the restaurant to start changing sizes.

The experience will feature some hijinks, interactive opportunities for the audience and a villain who must be stopped. The show will call in superheroes like Captain America and Captain Marvel — and, of course, the diners in the restaurant — to help save the day.

And throughout the entire meal, diners can order food inspired by some Marvel locations, like Wakanda, Sokovia, and the Avengers' home base of New York City. The menus are still being developed and Disney will announce more information about the food aboard Disney Wish at a later date.

Diners aboard Disney Wish will also have several, more casual dining options .

The Marceline Market will be a food hall, featuring 10 food stalls and a cafe-style beverage bar. The stalls are based on Disney films like "Tangled," "Ratatouille" and "Alice in Wonderland" and will serve up a variety of food, from classic American to international plant-based fare. And the "Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods" will serve up quick bites like pizza, barbecue, or ice cream.

Brie Larson, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie and More to Star in Marvel Dining Adventure on Disney Wish Cruise Ship

Avengers: Quantum Encounter will be aboard the Disney Wish, setting sail in 2022.

Walt Disney Imagineering has announced via the Disney Parks Blog that some Marvel favorites will be starring in the new Marvel Dining Adventure Avengers: Quantum Encounter on the new Disney Wish Cruise Ship. The show will star Paul Rudd ’s Ant-Man and Evangeline Lily ’s The Wasp as they present some of the world’s most foremost superhero technology from Pym Tech. However, when Ultron and his army of robot sentries show up to take this new technology, Ant-an and The Wasp will have to team up with Captain America, Captain Marvel, and the diners to fight back. Imagineer Danny Handke also hints that one more hero will make a surprise appearance during the show, but that it won’t be revealed until a later date.

As previously mentioned, Rudd and Lily will star. Also appearing will be Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, Kerry Condon as the voice of F.R.I.D.A.Y., and Ross Marquand as Ultron. Marquand previously replaced Hugo Weaving as Red Skull in the MCU, and has recently taken over from James Spader as the voice of Ultron in Marvel’s What If...? It is fairly unprecedented for the actual celebrities who play these iconic characters to appear in theme parks and cruise lines. The opening of Disneyland’s Avengers Campus saw the introduction of Tom Holland ’s Spider-Man to the Disney parks, but this dining experience will be the first of its kind.

The Disney Wish will set sail in the summer of 2022. Avengers: Quantum Encounter is the first-ever immersive Marvel Dining experience Disney has done, but it is only one of the many exciting offerings the Disney Wish will have . The ship will also have an Avengers Academy for children, with no word yet if the actors will be providing their voices for this experience as well.

Also on board will be the adults-only Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge , which Disney described as “a high-end bar styled as a luxurious yacht-class spaceship,” which is sure to excite Star Wars fans. For families, there will be a Frozen -inspired dining experience entitled Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Experience , where diners can meet Elsa, Anna, Olaf, and other Frozen favorites in the world of Arendelle. Lastly, the Disney Wish will feature the first-ever Disney show at sea, the AquaMouse , which will combine ride and show elements that suspends guests over the upper decks of the ship and the ocean.

Avengers: Quantum Encounter promises to be an exciting immersive dining experience for Marvel fans and young families alike, and with the addition of this fantastic cast it is sure to be unforgettable. The Disney Wish’s first voyage will be June 9, with bookings opening to select Disney guests on May 9 and the general public on May 27.

A New Avengers Adventure Will Screen Exclusively On The Disney Wish Cruise Ship

Brie Larson with messy updoinn 'Captain Marvel'

Disney's reach is far and wide across the globe. The company has stakes in pretty much every media-adjacent industry, including broadcast television, video games, theme parks, publishing, and — not surprisingly — cruise ships. The far-reaching magic of the House of Mouse even hits the open ocean with its line of Disney-themed cruise ships.

Onboard Disney's newest ship, the Wish, kids and adults will get the chance to experience the Disney magic firsthand with immersive dining experiences, water rides, and other live entertainment. The Wish, due to set sail in 2022, has been making waves with its completely unique experiences only available on particular voyages such as AquaMouse, Disney's first-ever attraction at sea, and the Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge, a "Star Wars"-themed bar.

Now, the Wish has even more exclusive action on its deck, and it's sure to excite fans of Marvel and attract MCU completists from all walks — even those who might not generally consider a cruise.

Avengers: Quantum Encounter is an interactive dining show

Disney has enlisted several famous Marvel faces to take part in a show exclusive to Wish's cruise-goers. Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Anthony Mackie, and Brie Larson will all reprise their MCU characters in the new show entitled: "Avengers: Quantum Encounter" that is a part of the immersive dining experience at the ship's Worlds of Marvel restaurant.

According to Attractions Magazine, the experience will feature Ant-Man and The Wasp as hosts as they present new superhero technology to diners. The tech is even available at diner's fingertips, with each table having its own "Quantum Core, a brand-new device that can cause objects to shrink and grow remotely." After guests test out the new tech themselves, a familiar foe, Ultron, arrives to try and steal the tech, but Captain America and Captain Marvel are called in to help save the day.

The truly interactive dining experience will also serve food inspired by Marvel locations such as Wakanda, Sokovia, and New York City. With all this exclusive Marvel material, we couldn't be more jealous of those setting sail on Disney's Wish next year.

Disney Announces MCU Cruise Show Featuring Paul Rudd, Brie Larson & More Marvel Actors

Ant-Man, Captain Marvel, Captain America

Marvel Studios is enjoying a great stretch of content releases thanks to Eternals ' imminent debut and the hype building for the Spider-Man threequel and the Doctor Strange sequel , among others. This endeavor is also helping Marvel's parent company, Disney, in a big way too, as Disney theme parks and attractions worldwide are able to use the MCU in new and exciting ways for fans.

Most prominently, this comes with Avengers Campus at Disney's California Adventure, which gives Southern California visitors a fully immersive experience in a real-world recreation of the MCU's biggest moments.

Park-goers are already raving about the land's big attraction in " WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure," giving riders the chance to go full Spider-Man and stop an army of rogue Spider-Bots with Tom Holland's Peter Parker . Other highlights include Doctor Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum and the Ant-Man Test Kitchen , and that's not even counting the inclusion of material from the MCU's movies and Disney+ shows consistently adding to the magic.

Now, a new experience is on the way aboard the Disney Wish cruise ship in the form of "Worlds of Marvel," a new dining experience in which fans will take a deep dive into various Marvel lands. Additionally, new details are coming to light about some special guest appearances that will come with this attraction.

Ant-Man & Captain Marvel Take the Seas

The Disney Parks Blog revealed that the "Worlds of Marvel" dining experience on the Disney Wish cruise ship will feature multiple MCU stars as part of a real-life Avengers mission.

The show, entitled "Avengers: Quantum Encounter," will include Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, and Evangeline Lilly as the Wasp. Also lending voice talents to their roles are Kerry Condon as FRIDAY and Ross Marquand as Ultron, which Marquand also played in Marvel Studios' What If...? .

The show will feature Ant-Man and the Wasp presenting powerful superhero tech, including a demonstration of new Pym Tech before Ultron and an army of sentries take control of it. The miniature heroes turn to Captain America, Captain Marvel, and fans dining in the restaurant for backup, and there are even rumors of another unknown hero joining the fray as well.

The restaurant is designed with hundreds of video screens and special effects all across the restaurant, which have already been shot and are now in post-production and editing. This is all taking place while the Disney Wish is under construction, and the show will officially debut in Summer 2022.

The release also came with a full poster for the attraction featuring all four heroes and Ultron's eyes in the background, which can be seen below:

Avengers: Quantum Encounter Poster

A New Alternate MCU Timeline from Disney Wish

Marvel Studios has collaborated with Disney brilliantly over the last few years to give fans a new look into the MCU, almost always featuring the stars that built the franchise to what it is today. This experience comes as yet another addition to Disney's growing MCU legacy, as fans get to go to a dinner unlike any ever seen before.

While the specific food menu is still being kept under wraps, diners will be thrown into their own MCU outing alongside Earth's Mightiest Heroes as Hank Pym's technology becomes subject to another one of Ultron's villainous wraths . While the four heroes involved have only shared minimal screen time in the canon MCU, they will work together and find a way to use their powers to defeat one of the franchise's most powerful villains.

It also comes as a huge accomplishment to get four big-name actors from the MCU into this project , especially since all except Mackie are currently confirmed to be shooting their own MCU movies for Phase 4. Paul Rudd and Brie Larson specifically are deep into production on Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and The Marvels , with both set to come to theaters in 2023.

This material was likely planned out the same way director James Gunn and his squad planned for the work on the "Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind" ride before shooting for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 . Now, the wait begins to see just how impressive this new attraction will be when the ship is fully completed.

The Disney Wish will set sail in Summer 2022.

Marvel Day at Sea on the Disney Magic – Our Review And What You Need to Know

avengers cruise ship movie

Every Disney Cruise Line offers guests an amazing vacation experience filled with all the Disney magic you’d expect. However, Disney Cruise Line also offers some very special themed voyages that take an already fantastic vacation to the next level. From January to early March, special five-night Disney Magic sailings include a Marvel Day at Sea featuring encounters with most of the Marvel heroes, several Marvel-themed shows, and more Marvel-themed activities than you can count.

In January 2019, we enjoyed a Marvel Day at Sea Cruise on the Disney Magic. At the time, I considered myself an average Marvel fan. I’ve seen most of the movies, but not all of them. Chad had only seen a few of the movies. We didn’t know what to expect but were absolutely blown away by the events, character encounters, and entertainment throughout the day. So much so that we both left eager to watch all the movies in the Marvel Universe. We actually watched the first movie the night we got home and completely rearranged our Netflix queue. If you have Marvel fans in your family, prepare to lose your mind. Read on for all the details.

1 – Marvel Day at Sea

Marvel Day at Sea combines the thrills of renowned Marvel comics, films, and animated series with the excitement of a Disney Cruise to summon everyone’s inner Super Hero for the adventures that lie ahead during this unforgettable day at sea. To be clear, the entire cruise is not Marvel-themed. The Marvel activities happen on one action-packed day during each of the special Disney sailings. The event features all-day entertainment, including encounters with some of the mightiest Marvel Super Heroes and the menacing foes who oppose them, an extraordinary deck-show spectacular, Marvel-themed youth activities, special merchandise, and unique food and beverage offerings.

2 – Marvel Costumes

Like Pirate night, guests are encouraged to dress as elaborately as they like or not at all. We saw most guests, including ourselves, wore Marvel-themed T-shirts. Some went all out and dressed in full costumes. Many landed somewhere in between with some terrific Etsy-worthy outfits. A Marvel Costume Celebration was held in the Atrium to showcase guests in their costumes, and guests could show off their outfits.

3 – Heroic Encounters

There are three different character interactions that you can plan to have during your Marvel Day at Sea. First are the scheduled and ticketed Heroic Encounters, which (like the Disney Princesses) can and should be booked ahead of time. You’ll receive a ticket with a specific time to visit. We started our day with both of these booked encounters. For our first scheduled encounter, we met Spiderman, Black Panther, and Ironman one right after each other. Our second scheduled encounter was and meeting with Groot in a separate area. Each of these interactions was terrific. Spiderman was particularly perfect. He was so spot on. If we didn’t know any better, we would have thought that it really was Tom Holland in the suit!

avengers cruise ship movie

The second option is similar to character encounters guests are likely familiar with from visiting the parks. Throughout the day, other characters were stationed in specific spots throughout the ship allowing guests to line up for pictures and autographs with their favorites. Greeting times were listed in the Personal Navigator (the cruise planner), with most characters available several times throughout the day. For instance, Thor was scheduled for 9:15 am, 11:15 am, 2:00 pm, and 4:00 pm on Deck 4. Loki, Captain America, and Captain Marvel were also scheduled for the day. Captain Marvel debuted on our voyage, and we were the first ones to be able to meet her! She was perfect. These character greetings were very popular, and the lines were very long.

Lines for characters open at their scheduled times and remain open for 15 minutes. Please note we saw a number of guests confused about how this worked. The following was the policy for our cruise; it may have changed, so be sure to ask a Cast Member for your particular cruise. If the character you’d like to meet is scheduled for 2:00 pm, you must be in line by 2:15 pm. As long as you enter the line within that 15-minute window, you are guaranteed to meet the character regardless of how long the line is. However, if you arrive after the 15-minute window, you will not be allowed to meet the character.  To clear the area for the next scheduled character and ensure cast members are able to take breaks, this is strictly enforced.

We waited almost an hour and a half to meet Captain America. Captain America’s posted time was 10:45 am, 12:45 pm, and 3:30 pm. We arrived at 12:18 pm to get in line early. However, because Captain America and Captain Marvel were sharing the same greeting area, the line was crazy long. I had already met Captain Marvel, so I wanted to ensure I could meet Captain America. I spoke with a very helpful Cast Member, and he said they were keeping track of where the Captain America greeting time began and ended. (He knew which family was first for Captain America and which family was last). I was assured that I was in the right spot and would meet him. Sure enough, we did meet him.

avengers cruise ship movie

The Cast Members did a fantastic job handling the crowds, answering questions, and keeping the line together and moving. The guests that we interacted with were also great and understanding. We all get that lines are a part of the Disney experience, particularly for rare characters. We, unfortunately, did not have the opportunity to meet Loki and Thor. There was so much amazing programming for the day, we simply could not do all the activities that were available! Another reason for us to come back!

Another way you may meet characters is simply by bumping into them around the ship. Doctor Strange, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Star-Lord, and Gamora were randomly walking the atrium decks for quick photos and a chat. These lines were much shorter because you couldn’t plan on when to meet them. We were able to run into each of these characters. As we expected, all of them were terrific!

avengers cruise ship movie

4 – Heroes in Training!

If you read any of our cruise recaps, you’ll know that Disney’s youth clubs are amazing. During Marvel Day at Sea, kids in the club get special Marvel programming that will make any adult jealous. Kids were treated to the Marvel Super Hero Academy inside Disney’s Oceaneer Club. Super Heroes like Spider-Man, Black Widow, Thor, and Hawkeye teach kids the true qualities of being a hero. Kids can participate in special secret agent training, learn the path to becoming worthy with the help of Thor, and hone their reflexes, speed, and intellect with Spider-Man. If only I were a kid again!

5 – Getting to Know the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)

After we meet with the Marvel characters, we headed to Marvel Origins. This was a fun and interactive presentation where we learned the basics of Marvel history and the origins of some of its most popular characters. It was very informative and helpful for a not-so-versed Marvel fan!

There were three chances to catch a “Meet the Masters” presentations that were also a great way to learn more about MCU. The first in the morning was with Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) Portfolio Executive Producer John Mauro. In the afternoon, Marvel Creative Director, Brian Crosby, was the presenter at two different times. Both John and Brian shared how Marvel and WDI are bringing the Marvel stories and characters to life. Both gave an in-depth talk on the process and challenges of transforming the Tower of Terror at California Adventure into the Guardians of the Galaxy ride. It was a fascinating look into what it takes to bring an amazing attraction from idea to opening day and the care that goes into every aspect of the guest experience. We were also treated to some peeks at upcoming Marvel-based attractions coming to Disney parks around the world.

These were very interesting presentations where we learned how Disney is bringing the MCU to life in Disney Parks around the world. Cindy attended John’s presentation, and Chad attended Brian’s. Both presenters brought their own enthusiasm and knowledge to their presentations, making them a bit different than the other. We both left with a greater understanding of Disney’s commitment to offering experiences that are full of fun, humor, and adventure. Their goal is for all guests, from first-timers to life-timers, to be pulled into the Marvel Universe in an engaging way. It really is an exciting time for the Disney-Marvel partnership!

avengers cruise ship movie

6 – Marvel Trivia and Animation Academy

For master Marvel fans, there were challenging games designed to test the knowledge of Marvel’s heroes and foes. There was also an opportunity to learn how to draw popular Marvel Super Heroes—like Spider-Man, Captain America, Iron Man, and Groot. There was also a quiz to determine the perfect Marvel comic for you.

7 – Journey Into the Mystic Arts with Doctor Strange

Offered multiple times in the afternoon, we were able to see Doctor Strange and set forth on a journey of discovery with the sorcerer supreme himself in an interactive new show, “Doctor Strange: Journey into the Mystic Arts,” in the Walt Disney Theatre. In addition to honing their skills in the mystic arts, children played a unique role in the experience as Doctor Strange calls upon young apprentices to put their skills to the test in an epic battle against the Dark Dimension. This one was definitely geared toward the younger crowd, but the show was well done, and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

8 – Fan Favorite Marvel Movies

Also offered throughout the day were exclusive at-sea screenings of fan-favorite films from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The movies during our cruise on Marvel Day at Sea were: Avengers: Infinity War, Venom, and Captain: America Civil War. Marvel films were also shown other days as well including Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 in 3D, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Thor: Ragnarok, The Avengers, and Avengers: Age of Ultron. There were also viewings of the Disney XD show Marvel’s Avengers Assemble, Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy on Funnel Vision, the screen over the family pool. Seeing a movie at sea may not be at the top of your to-do list, but I do want to say that the fact that Disney offers these movies at all is another terrific benefit of Disney Cruise Line. On the non-Marvel days, both Ralph Breaks the Internet and Mary Poppins Returns were playing. Being able to see current Disney movies while at sea is a very nice perk.

9 – Mickey and the Gang

The character greetings didn’t end with Marvel characters. Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, Pluto, and even Chip and Dale joined in the fun as they dressed up to honor their favorite Marvel Super Heroes. There were two times to catch these characters: in the later afternoon before the first dinner and then after the second dinner. Mickey was dressed up as Captain America, Minnie as Spiderman, Donald as the Hulk, Goofy as Ironman, Daisy as Black Widow, Chip and Dale as Thor and Loki, and Pluto with an Avengers scarf! It was a bit of a challenge to meet all of these characters, but we were able to do it!

View this post on Instagram A post shared by DisneyLists.com (@disneylists_com)

Character meeting tip reminder: The characters are scheduled at separate times and share greeting locations. The line is closed after 15 minutes, regardless of how long it is. So, if the posted time to meet Minnie Mouse is 5:45 pm, as long as you are in line by 6:00 pm, you will be able to meet her. This was really helpful to know because a lot of times the line, particularly for Mickey, was very long and we wanted to be sure we met him. Again, the Cast Members were so helpful in helping us understand the queuing process for meeting the characters.

10 – Marvelous Snacks and Dinner

As you might expect, there were plenty of Marvel snacks, drinks, and beverage souvenirs to be found. Dinner was also hero-themed with out-of-this-world dishes and desserts. The entrees were grouped by Marvel Characters. For instance, Hawkeye’s choices were baked buttermilk corn-fed chicken and roasted pork tenderloin “Huntsman.”

11 – Mickey & Friends Super Show

Dressed up as their favorite Marvel Super Heros, Mickey and friends kick off a dance party on deck in “Mickey and Friends Super Hero Celebration.” This was a cute family-friendly deck show that focused on how each character had a value of the hero they were dressed as. Mickey has the value of honor, just like Captain America. Minnie Mouse has the value of responsibility, Donald has strength, Daisy has determination, Goofy has the future, Chip has worthiness, Dale has cleverness, and Pluto has teamwork. The show encouraged kids that anyone can be a superhero by knowing right from wrong, helping out around the house, helping a friend in need—that makes you super too. It was a fun show that was great for all ages.

12 – Marvel Heroes Unite Deck Show

Later that evening there was a second deck show, “Heroes Unite.” This action-packed show brings the largest collection of Marvel Super Heroes and Villains together. They face off in an exciting battle at sea creating one epic finale. The spectacular features incredible stunts, special effects, pyrotechnics and music taking over the upper decks of the ship. The show was fantastic and ended with another round of fireworks! Our cruise got two fireworks at sea, and it was awesome to experience.

13 – Ravagers Night Club

At the end of the evening, there was special entertainment just for adults. We headed down to Fathoms nightclub, now a Ravager hideout, where we enjoyed an adult-exclusive experience inspired by the Guardians of the Galaxy. We were treated to some dancers who had terrific moves. Then, Ravagers (who don’t dance, by the way), roamed the dance floor screaming, “Ravagers don’t dance,” and expressed their displeasure whenever they were asked to dance by their host. They also praised those of us who chose not to dance! Star-Lord joined in on the fun dancing along, and Gamora just glared at everyone, which is what she does and was perfect doing it! The music, of course, was the perfect mixtape soundtrack of 70’s & 80’s hits. The Disney entertainers were again perfect in their performances. It was a marvelous ending to a Marvel Day at Sea!

What Disney Cruise Ships feature the Marvel Day?

What marvel characters will you see during a marvel at sea itinerary, is the disney cruise fireworks show different on a marvel at sea sailing, what is the avengers academy, from which ports does the marvel day at sea disney cruise originate.

The Marvel Day at Sea is a special day on select sailings of the Disney Magic .

From characters to fireworks to exclusive shows, passengers can immerse in a full day Marvel Cinematic Universe experience on a Marvel Disney cruise.

During this immersive experience, the Disney cruise ship transforms to host special Meet and Greets with your favorite Marvel characters, movie marathons, shows and experiences all related to the MCU and the great set of characters Disney brought to life from the comics.

The Marvel Day at Sea focuses on shows, events, and encounters from the famous Marvel movies for a full day.

Instead of your “typical” Disney character encounters, meet-and-greets and entertainment, you get to see your favorite Marvel characters. For example, on this special day you might meet Captain America or Captain Marvel.

And instead of a fun sing-along with the Fab 4, you get to see a stunt show from the Avengers, where the Marvel Super Heroes and Villains face off in an incredible battle at sea.

Marvel Day at Sea activities, shows, and character greetings are no additional charge, and are included in the normal fare . Themed cocktails and merchandise cost extra.

Disney Magic is the only ship that will feature Marvel day in 2020.

You’ll have to schedule reservations for some characters, while others you will not, but some of the most fun encounters are:

  • Captain Marvel
  • Dr. Strange
  • Black Panther
  • Captain America

The Disney Cruise Fireworks show features fireworks and songs from the Avengers soundtrack. It will occur during the deck party after the special evening show. The evening show features video clips and a live show called “Marvel Heroes Unite” which features a battle between the Avengers and some dastardly villains.

The Marvel evening festivities replace the traditional Pirates night that would take place on regular sailings.

The Avengers Academy is hosted by Spider-Man , Black Widow, Hawkeye and Thor, teaching younger guests (the kids) the essence of being a hero, playing Marvel-themed games, participating in activities and making Marvel-themed crafts. This is all done in the Oceaneers Club.

Miami is the primary port of origination, but the two cruise sets (Caribbean vs. Bahamian) have some different destinations, even within each cruise type, although all of the cruises stop at Disney Castaway Cay .

How the MCU Jumped the Gun with Avengers 5

Marvel may have been a bit too excited and revealed a brand new hero in Avengers: Quantum Encounter, whose main MCU story is yet to finish.

While it's not the fifth Avengers film in the traditional sense, Avengers: Quantum Encounter is currently playing on Disney Wish cruise ships. The mini-movie experience features the likes of Sam Wilson's Captain America, Carol Danvers' Captain Marvel and Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne as Ant-Man and The Wasp, all uniting to take on the returning threat of Ultron. All of these characters have actors reprising their roles from previous Marvel Cinematic Universe projects, including a surprise appearance from a hero whose origin story has still yet to conclude.

That's right! Joining the Avengers to help take down Ultron is Kamala Khan's Ms. Marvel, as played by Iman Vellani. And this is where Quantum Encounter appears to have jumped the gun a bit with regards to the MCU's newest Avenger. At the time of writing, the Ms. Marvel series has yet to conclude. At this point in the show, she has yet to even put together her iconic costume. In terms of the larger Marvel Universe narrative, Ms. Marvel is still a hero in the making .

RELATED: Ms. Marvel May Have Confirmed the MCU’s Favorite Avenger

And yet, here she is in Avengers: Quantum Encounter , weeks before her show has concluded. She is fully decked out in her final costume and fighting alongside Captain America . It would be a bit like if Quantum Encounter had started screening before the finale of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier had aired, similarly jumping the gun on the reveal of the new Captain America . Thankfully, that did not happen with that show, but it's a touch unfair that it should happen with Ms. Marvel.

Granted, in order to experience Avengers: Quantum Encounter in its entirety, one would need to book a cruise on a Disney Wish ship. And that is not likely to be the case for the majority of MCU fans. However, camera rips of the movie are already leaking online, showing Ms. Marvel in her entirety. It's just a shame that her reveal should be ruined before her story gets the chance to conclude.

RELATED: Disney's Obi-Wan Kenobi Release Set Ms. Marvel Up to Fail

Ms. Marvel is already proving to be one of the best of Marvel's Disney+ shows, and yet it's been done dirty by the way Disney handled its release. It got awkwardly sandwiched between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Thor: Love and Thunder and is now getting its own reveal spoiled in an unrelated cruise ship movie. It seems the world doesn't want to give Ms. Marvel the chance to shine.

Ultimately, Disney is such a large corporation with so many moving cogs that this was unavoidable. It's not like the Disney Wish cruise ships could go ahead without its premier Marvel cinematic experience on board, and similarly, Ms. Marvel 's release schedule would have been decided on Disney+ months in advance. And yet, the thought can't be avoided that maybe, just maybe, Ms. Marvel deserved better than this.

10 best IMAX movies ever, ranked

Not too long ago, IMAX movies were seemingly reserved for documentary and nature films at museums and science centers with giant dome movie screens that dwarfed anything available in local theaters. But in the last two decades, filmmakers have gravitated towards using IMAX cameras for even greater images, while moviegoers have shifted to watching mainstream releases in IMAX theaters around the world.

Last month, Dune: Part Two  hit theaters, and the critical consensus of the sequel is that it’s best enjoyed on the biggest screens possible. Before you make plans to see the hit sci-fi sequel in IMAX for the second or fifth time, we’re taking a look back at the 10 best IMAX movies ever.

10: Tron: Legacy (2010)

Unlike many of the films on this list, Tron: Legacy was not filmed with IMAX cameras. But it was converted into an IMAX release, and the visuals of the Grid really lend themselves well to the larger format. Despite the disappointing box office returns of Legacy , director Joseph Kosinski established himself as a top filmmaker. His experience with this movie surely helped guide him on his later films, including Oblivion and Top Gun: Maverick .

Legacy is a sequel to the original Tron from 1982. Garrett Hedlund plays Sam Flynn, the son of Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), who disappeared into the Grid decades earlier. After unexpectedly following his father into the living computer world that he created, Sam encounters Quorra (Olivia Wilde, director of Don’t Worry Darling ), a sentient isomorphic algorithm. Sam also discovers that Clu (Bridges), an evil duplicate of his father, has taken over the Grid and transformed it in his image.

Watch Tron: Legacy on Disney+ .

9. Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)

The original Avatar was shown in IMAX during its initial 2009 release, but James Cameron went several steps further with the sequel. Avatar: The Way of Water was filmed entirely with IMAX cameras. That made a huge difference when creating a larger canvas for the visuals of Pandora and the expanded scope of the story. One of the reasons why The Way of Water earned $2.320 billion worldwide is that audiences flocked to see it in both IMAX and 3D.

Avatar: The Way of Water picks up a few years after the original, as Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña) start a family, including their adoptive daughter, Kiri (Sigourney Weaver), who is more than an ordinary Na’vi or an avatar. When humanity reinvades Pandora, Jake discovers that the armed forces are led by an avatar clone of his old nemesis, Miles Quaritch (Stephen Lang). To protect his family, Jake relocates them from the forest and joins a water tribe of Na’vi.

Watch Avatar: The Way of Water on Disney+ .

8. Dunkirk (2017)

You’re going to see Christopher Nolan ‘s name come up a lot on this list, and that’s because few filmmakers have so thoroughly embraced IMAX as he has. Nolan’s World War II epic, Dunkirk , was filmed almost entirely in IMAX. In addition to using IMAX cameras to film vintage aircraft and boats, Nolan was also the first theatrical director to utilize handheld IMAX cameras in a mainstream movie.

Dunkirk is based on the true story of what could have been the premature end of World War II. After British and French forces lost the Battle of France, they were pinned down on the shores of Dunkirk by the enemy. It took an extraordinary effort, including British civilian ships, to rescue the troops and allow them to fight another day.

Watch Dunkirk on Peacock .

7. Avengers: Infinity War (2018)

Almost every superhero movie gets an IMAX release, but Avengers: Infinity War  and its sequel, Avengers: Endgame , have the distinction of being the first major studio movies to be entirely filmed with IMAX digital cameras. Anthony and Joe Russo not only had a larger canvas to fill the screen, they also had the narrative momentum of almost every previous Marvel Studios film to date leading to this crossover event.

Several parts of this movie seem like they were designed to make the audience cheer, especially when Spider-Man (Tom Holland) and the Guardians of the Galaxy show up. But this story belongs to Thanos (Josh Brolin), and his triumph gave the film a truly shocking cliffhanger.

Watch Avengers: Infinity War on Disney+ .

6: Gravity (2013)

Alfonso Cuarón won an Oscar for Best Director, thanks in no small part to his brilliantly executed use of the IMAX format. Sandra Bullock isn’t actually floating above the Earth during this movie, but Cuarón specifically decided to film Gravity like a documentary so that audiences could buy the illusion of space.

Bullock spends most of the movie onscreen by herself because her character, Ryan Stone, is the only survivor after her space shuttle is destroyed in orbit. And without that ship, Ryan’s chances of survival or rescue are slim to none.

Watch Gravity on Netflix .

5. Avengers: Endgame (2019)

How do you top the sheer spectacle of Avengers: Infinity War ? For Avengers: Endgame , the Russo brothers started small as the team was forced to deal with their devastating defeat in the previous film. They also had to dwell on their personal losses as well. With three hours of screen time to play with, there was enough room for those character beats before the Avengers literally dived back into their earlier films for a time heist.

Both Infinity War and Endgame are available to stream on Disney+ in the IMAX ratio. The two films are pretty close in terms of quality, but Endgame gets the edge with its more crowd-pleasing moments and an epic battle between an army of Avengers and Thanos’ forces.

Watch Avengers: Endgame on Disney+ .

4. Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (2011)

The Mission: Impossible movies have been so successful that it’s easy to forget that the franchise was essentially done after Mission: Impossible III in 2006. It took another five years before The Incredibles director Brad Bird made his live-action directorial debut with Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol . That film revitalized the franchise. And for his first time in the big chair, Bird insisted on using IMAX cameras for key parts of the movie, including a sequence where Tom Cruise climbs the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, on location in Dubai.

Ghost Protocol finds Cruise’s Ethan Hunt in hot water with both the American government and the Russians after he’s blamed for a terrorist attack in Moscow. That’s why Ethan and his entire IMF team, William Brandt (Jeremy Renner), Benji Dunn (Simon Pegg), and Jane Carter (Paula Patton), have to go rogue to clear their names and save the day.

Watch Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol on Paramount+ .

3. The Dark Knight (2008)

Nolan’s IMAX journey began in The Dark Knight , which was also the first big Hollywood production to utilize IMAX cameras. Only a few of the film’s sequences were filmed in IMAX, including the opening bank robbery and the thrilling detour to Hong Kong which proved that “Batman has no jurisdiction.” He goes where he wants to go.

The third film, The Dark Knight Rises , featured more IMAX camera work than The Dark Knight . But The Dark Knight earns its place on this list for being one of the all-time great superhero movies, if not the greatest. Batman (Christian Bale) finally met his match in The Joker (Heath Ledger), and the bar was set high for all future cinematic trips to Gotham City.

Watch The Dark Knight on Max .

2. Interstellar (2014)

Nolan significantly ramped up his use of IMAX cameras for Interstellar , his first real venture into science fiction. Space has rarely seemed larger than in this movie or more foreboding. Additionally, Nolan’s preference for practical effects and sets made both the space shuttle interiors and exterior planet shots seem more real.

Matthew McConaughey plays Joseph Cooper, a former NASA pilot who is recruited to join Dr. Amelia Brand ( Anne Hathaway ) and others on a long-term mission in space to find a new home for humanity before Earth becomes unlivable. The price for that journey is that Cooper misses the lives of his children, including his now adult daughter, Murph (Jessica Chastain), who in turn has to figure out a way to get humanity off-world. Late in this film, there’s a sequence where Cooper’s emotional turmoil is joined with spectacular visuals as the solution presents itself.

Watch Interstellar on Paramount+ .

1. Oppenheimer (2023)

It wasn’t a surprise that Oppenheimer won the Oscar for Best Picture as it was a critical hit and a surprising success at the box office, the latter was driven by the collective need to see it in IMAX. Nolan’s latest film once again extensively uses IMAX cameras. Unlike The Dark Knight , Dunkirk , or Interstellar , the story isn’t driven by action or effects. Instead, it’s about the race to build the atomic bomb, as well as more intimate dramatic scenes like senate confirmation and security hearings that don’t often make for riveting viewing. In this film, they are.

Nolan used black-and-white IMAX film during a few sequences in Oppenheimer , which doesn’t unfold in a typically linear fashion. Instead, the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer ( Cillian Murphy ) is shown before, during, and after his part in The Manhattan Project, as well as flash forwards to a disastrous security hearing that was meant to destroy his reputation. Meanwhile, a separate part of the narrative belongs to Lewis Strauss ( Robert Downey Jr. ) as he pays the price for his efforts to strike back at Oppenheimer. It’s a fantastic movie from start to finish and also the pinnacle of IMAX filmmaking to date.
