Brazil is perfect for spending a week or so in complete oblivion of what the rest of the world is upto. Enjoy staying on the fringes of the rainforest, or spend time on the beaches, Brazil is great for people from all walks of life. Take a look at what makes Brazil such a great place to check out on your vacations:

Things To Do In Brazil

  • Visit the Vale da Lua: This is a magical, almost ethereally beautiful place. After years of erosion by rainwaters that washed away sand, mud and polished the stones here, Vale da Lua actually looks like something out of a space expedition.
  • Explore the Gruta Do Lago Azul: Getting here might be a little on the tough side, given the rough terrain, but it is definitely worth the trouble. This almost azure blue cave system is littered with bones and other relics of prehistoric flora and fauna, and is a must visit for those interested in archaeology or paleontology.
  • Spend time at the Crypt of the Sao Paulo Cathedral: The underground crypts of the Sao Paulo Cathedral might not seem like a very touristy place to visit, but it has a charm of its own. Its palatial area houses crypts of saints, important parish members and church superiors.
  • Check out the graffiti: The Olympic Boulevard in Rio de Janeiro, created by Eduardo Kobra is a 32,300 sq ft graffiti, with bright colors and painstakingly created artwork. It is the largest street art mural in the world.
  • Wander around Cidade Albanoel: A creepy place to be, this abandoned Santa-themed adventure park is a lesson in exploring the scary side of Brazil. It is the perfect fit for adventure and thrill seekers.

All these attractions of Brazil ensure that there is never a dull moment here, whatever might be your preference when enjoying a vacation. Make sure that on your Brazil vacation tour you get to enjoy all the above activities as part of the itinerary.

1. Florianópolis: In our Brazil Tour Packages one of the top places to visit is the island of Florianópolis. Its one half is situated on the mainland and the other half on an island. ‘The Magic Island’ of Brazil is known for its open and uncluttered beaches like Praia dos Naufragados which can be only reached after a bit of hiking. Enjoy gorgeous views of pastel-hued sunsets at any one of the 60 beaches at Florianópolis. Tourists can hike and explore the island to find lovely waterfalls and bright blue lagoons on its coast. You can stay at an authentic Brazillian beach house in the more northern part of the island, which is more touristy. If you want to surround yourself in nature, there are more quiet beaches in the South of Florianópolis. - Location:  State of Santa Catarina 2. Chapada Diamantina: Our Brazil Tour Packages take you into the wilderness of National Park Chapada Diamantina. The landscape is riddled with spectacular hidden treasures such as the Cachoeira da Fumaça, one of Brazil's gargantuan waterfalls of which turns into mist. One of the most striking features of the region, however, are the two vast underground cavities known as Poço Encantado and Poço Azul. The water in the two pools is so pure that they seem to be empty, and the sunshine that enters gives the pool a startling electric blue shade. - Location:  Av. Barão do Rio Branco, 80 - Centro, Palmeiras - BA, 46900-000, Brazil - Timings: Open 24 hours 3. Pantanal: Our Brazil tours will take you to Pantanal, the world’s largest wetlands. The natural marshes encourage the viewing of animals and the untouched Pantanal area has no significant human population that ensures the wildlife thrives. The wetland provides spectacular scenery and the opportunity to see a wide range of wildlife and birds. Spotting the South American jaguar is the highlight of the trip; the Pantanal is the only location on the continent to catch sight of the mysterious beast. - Location:  Mato Grosso do Sul 4. Porto de Galinhas: Eight years in a row, readers of the Brazil journal Voyage & Tourism elected this wonderful spot to visit in Brazil as the "Best Brazilian Beach." The town was an isolated fishermen's settlement, located in the south of Recife, and is now open for anyone who would like to relax and enjoy the stunning beaches that Recife has to offer. A few hundred meters out in the water, you will find a reef. You snorkel and see them up close. In the beaches behind these reefs, natural pools form when the tide is low, and you will find a variety of fishes in these natural aquariums. - Location:  State of Pernambuco 5. Lençóis Maranhenses National Park: Actually, the word 'Lençóis' means bedsheets. This name instantly makes sense as you stand on the top of a sweeping white sand dune in Lençóis Maranhenses National Park. Lençóis, situated in northern Brazil, has a stunning view that will leave you gasping for breath. The rain collects in the alleyways between the sand dunes, which leads to the desert becoming a place where the sand dunes vary in sight, with cerulean lagoons. Many different species of fish live in the lagoons, and one of them hibernates in the wet areas of the sand during the dry season, only to resurface when the lagoons revive. Price:  56 BRL per day Location:  Barreirinhas - State of Maranhão, 65590-000, Brazil 6. Iguazú Falls: Our Brazil Tour Packages take you to see the Iguazú Falls, they are Mother Nature's most eloquent representation of beauty in our world. At the bird park, you can rejoice at the exotic feathered birds who are part of many ongoing conservation programs. - Location:  Paraná State 7. Fernando de Noronha: Fernando de Noronha is a Brazilian chain of islands. It is a paradise for those interested in animal life and diving and consists of 21 reefs, Islets and rocks of volcanic composition and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Island. This protected area provides a range of opportunities for leisure on golden sands and for watching tropical fish, sharks, turtles and dolphins in the shallow waters of jagged shorelines, unspoiled scenery. The environmental sanctuary caps visits annually, which is why it always features some of Brazil's most amazing natural scenery. Location:  Pernambuco State 8. Blue Lake Grotto, Mato Grosso do Sul: The Blue Lake Grotto is one of the world's biggest submerged cavities. It is not clear precisely how deep the waters of this lake are.You wouldn't believe that this cavern has a stunning, blue lake from the inside because it's entrance is modestly covered. This grotto is thought to be flooded by an unseen underground stream. A 3 metre tall sloth and a sabre-toothed cat were found with several other animal bones from the Ice Age in this cave. Book an itinerary out of our Brazil Tour Packages to see and experience a cave that is thought to be about ten million years old. - Location:  Bonito 9. Sugarloaf Mountain: The peak of the Sugarloaf Mountains overlooks the landscape of Rio de Janeiro and Guanabara Bay. Named after its conical shaped peak, Sugarloaf is one of popular spots for tourists in Rio. You can reach the mountaintop by a cable car. Every 20 minutes, a cable car leaves for the summit. Roundtrip tickets can be brought from the cable car station on Avenida Pasteur. - Location:  Rio de Janeiro - Timings: 8am-9pm 10. Mount Roraima National Park: It sweeps up the borders of Venezuela and extends to Brazil and Guyana. It is remote and difficult to reach in the far north of Brazil, making it much more attractive for explorers and campers alike. Those who make the effort to visit will be met with isolation and nature in its purest form, with pristine mountainous landscapes, mind-boggling peaks, and breathtaking sights. Much of this is without a single human being in view. Location:  Roraima Best time to visit: December to April

Most popular brazil tour packages, popular things in brazil.

  • Caipirinha: It is a Brazilian alcoholic drink made with cachaça, lemon, sugar, and ice. It originated in São Paulo. It has two variations—Caipiroska, made with vodka instead of cachaça, and Caipirissima, made with rum. Caipirinha is an ideal drink for a hot summer night and the perfect fuel to help you dance all night.
  • Carnival: This is one of the most well-known carnival festivals in the world. You can enjoy Samba dance performances, a diverse menu of food and beverages, brightly coloured costumes, and a festive atmosphere. The Carnival began in the 1830s as a Portuguese tradition to commemorate Lent. Over time, street musicians and dancing were introduced. The Rio Carnival features over 300 bands and 100 parades.
  • Soccer: Soccer is Brazil's most popular sport, with the national team consistently ranking among the best in the world. They have won five World Cups! If you're a soccer fan, you must be aware that Brazil is home to some of the world's greatest soccer legends, including Ronaldinho Gacho, Neymar, Ronaldo, and Pelé. For Brazilians, football is a passion, and they frequently refer to their country as “o Pas do Futebol” (the country of football).
  • Coffee: Brazil produces one-third of the world's coffee, making it the world's largest producer. It has held this position for 150 years. Most coffee plantations are in the southeastern states of Minas Gerais, So Paulo, and Paraná, where the environment and climate are ideal for this plant.

Souvenirs to Shop for in Brazil

  • Cachaça: If you want authentic Cachaça, you must buy it from Brazil. This sugarcane-based drink is widely available, thanks to many local distilleries. Paraty, a small coastal town in Rio de Janeiro with several excellent distilleries, is the best place to buy cachaça.
  • Gemstones: Minas Gerais is well-known for its gems, particularly emeralds. It is the best place in Brazil to find exquisite necklaces, bracelets, or rings set with local emeralds. Brazil produces roughly 65% of the world's coloured gemstones, and all major cities have specialised shops where you can buy genuine precious and semi-precious stones.
  • Cangas: These vibrant and colourful beach towels are another famous Brazilian gift. They can be found almost everywhere in Brazil, including nearly every local store. Cangas and beachwear come in a variety of styles and colours.
  • Brazilian flip-flops: Havaianas, a well-known flip-flops brand, is also based in Brazil. These slippers are widely available in Brazil at a low cost. They come in various sizes and shapes and are one of the best souvenirs you can buy.
  • Divino Espirito Santo: In some parts of the country, particularly Minas Gerais, dove carvings are extremely common. They come in various sizes ranging from a few inches to several feet. These carvings depict the Holy Spirit and are placed over doorways to provide protection and good luck to those who enter. They are affordable and an easy find.

Best time to visit Brazil

How to reach brazil from india, most popular and must-visit destinations in brazil.

  • São Paulo: Also known as the concrete jungle, São Paulo, a city of over 12 million people, is considered Brazil's business capital. However, that tag doesn't do justice to this exciting city. It has some of the country's best art galleries and museums. You can try delicious dishes at one of the many international restaurants known for their haute cuisine. Head to Praça Roosevelt for hipster bars and a change of pace. And remember to save some stamina so that you can enjoy São Paulo's nightlife. After all, it is known as a city that never sleeps.
  • Rio de Janeiro: Rio de Janeiro is known for its stark contrasts, it perfectly blends golden shores and lush forests with a bustling urban life. It is home to 6 million people and an exotic holiday destination for millions of tourists each year. Aside from prominent sights such as Christ the Redeemer, Sugarloaf Mountain, and Copacabana check out the unforgettable TransCarioca hike that stretches 180 kilometres (112 miles) and you can experience a mesmerizing sunset at Arpoador.
  • Fernando de Noronha: You can take a break from all the travelling by spending time on this island. Fernando de Noronha is a volcanic archipelago 350 kilometres (217 miles) off the coast of Brazil that can only be reached by plane from Recife. This protected area provides several opportunities to relax on golden beaches and get close to wildlife. It has jagged coastlines, untouched scenery, and shallow seas teeming with tropical fish, sharks, turtles, and dolphins. The ecological sanctuary limits the number of visitors per year, which helps to preserve some of Brazil's natural landscapes.
  • Pantanal: If you are looking for an adventure that will take you into the heart of the wilderness, a visit to the Pantanal is a must. The world's largest wetland, located in the centre of Brazil, has spectacular natural landscapes and is home to one of the world's most unique and complex ecosystems. Explore this preserved natural habitat on a guided tour, keep an eye out for caimans, capybaras, hundreds of bird species, and even the occasional shy jaguar.

Best Beaches in Brazil

  • Copacabana: It is a crowded crescent-shaped beach in Rio de Janeiro that stretches over 4 kilometres. It is located in the heart of the city. Here you can participate in watersports such as surfing. You can spend time at cafés, restaurants, hotels, and even visit two historical forts, one of which houses a military museum. These are all located along the boardwalk.
  • Buzios resort town: Armaço dos Buzios, locally known as Buzios, is loved by many international personalities. It is located north of Rio de Janeiro. Ferradura Beach and Geribá Beach are two of the most popular beaches among the town's many beaches. Ferradura Beach is great for snorkelling. And if you want a great surfing experience, head to Geribá Beach, which also has a host of restaurants. Situated around the town's south end, Praia de Tucuns is quite windy, making it ideal for people seeking a picturesque spot with fewer people.
  • Jericoacoara: If you're looking for a private slice of paradise, look no further. The area around Jericoacoara did not have electricity until 1998. Even now, there are no street lights around here. Tourists flock here searching for virgin sands and quiet windsurfing spots. You will be able to see a sky full of stars once the sun sets.
  • Praia de Pipa: Locals who want to rest in a peaceful atmosphere frequent this quiet place. Since this area falls under a protected region, there are laws preventing any major structures from being built here. Here you can sit on the golden sand and enjoy the view of surrounding pink cliffs. You might even spot a dolphin if you're lucky. The Praia do Madeiro beach is just a few minutes away, and you can do many activities there such as kayaking, surfing, swimming, etc.

Best Honeymoon Destinations in Brazil

  • The Amazon: If you are planning a honeymoon in the southern part of the country, you must go to the Amazon . The name itself denotes a remote location, and going on a luxury cruise allows you to have a good time on your honeymoon. You can spend some alone time with your loved ones in the Amazon river by paddleboarding or canoeing. Couples can hire a guide and go on a short trek through the forest to spot endangered animals.
  • Paraty: Another popular honeymoon destination, Paraty is located a few hours from Rio de Janeiro. Paraty is a seaside colonial town and is famous as one of Brazil's most romantic places to visit. You’ll get to experience a blend of culture and architecture here. You can see many national parks and go island hopping. The bay is full of countless spectacular islands and untouched beaches. You can explore these in a single day or a week, depending on the pace of your holiday. If you're feeling particularly adventurous, you can trek through parks and nature reserves as well. If not, you can go for romantic walks along the cobblestone streets lined with well-preserved architectural structures and boutique shops.
  • Florianopolis: Florianopolis, also known as Floripa, is one of the best honeymoon destinations in Brazil. It is also known as Brazil with a European flavour. This location is perfect for couples who want to spend time together on a beach. Couples who enjoy water sports can sail or windsurf in the sea. Couples looking for a romantic getaway will appreciate the city's romantic fine dining options, shopping malls, and resorts.
  • Iguazu Falls: Iguazu Falls , located on the border of Brazil and Argentina, is one of the world's most beautiful natural wonders. Couples can take in breathtaking views of over 240 waterfalls. It is sure to be an unforgettable experience for you. Couples can take a helicopter ride over the waterfall or get wet in a boat. They can even go on a short hike to a nearby forest and spend some quality time there.

Top 7 Must-visit Places in Brazil

  • Christ the Redeemer: Christ the Redeemer is the most famous statue of Jesus Christ in Rio de Janeiro. It is located on the 700-metre (2,300-foot) Corcovado mountain peak and offers a panoramic view of Guanabara Bay's interior to the north and Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas to the south. The Christ the Redeemer statue, which stands 39.6 metres (130 feet) tall, including its 9.5-meter (31-foot) pedestal, has become an icon of Rio de Janeiro and Brazil.
  • Lencois Maranhenses National Park: When people think of Brazil, an image that immediately pops into their minds is beautiful beaches and lush jungles, not sand dunes. Massive dunes can be found in Lencois Maranhenses, one of the country's most impressive national parks. However, this is not a desert. During July, torrential rains create beautiful clear lagoons that can reach depths of 3 metres (10 feet) in some areas. Interestingly, although these pools are only temporary and disappear during the dry season, you can find fish swimming in them.
  • Bonito: Bonito is the starting point for ecotourists who want to visit some of Brazil's most unique natural attractions, such as spectacular waterfalls and caves. Its most remarkable feature is its crystal-clear waterways, where you can swim with the fish. Abismo Anhumas, which caters to the more daring, offers visitors the opportunity to rappel to the bottom of a cavern and walk among stalagmites and other cave formations. Snorkelling or diving in the cavern's waters, which contain even more strange structures, is also an option.
  • Curitiba-Paranagua Train Ride: The Curitiba-Paranagua Train Ride, also known as the Serra Verde Express, is one of Brazil's most scenic train journeys. It cuts through the Atlantic rainforest and crosses 30 bridges on its 84-kilometre (52-mile) route connecting modern Curitiba with the historic Paranagua in Parana state.
  • Cathedral of Brasilia: Brasilia's Cathedral is unlike any other in the world. It comprises 16 concrete columns weighing 90 tons each, and it looks more like an Indian teepee than a church. The Four Evangelists statues, by Dante Croce, grace the front of the church, which was completed in 1970.
  • Museu de Arte Contemporânea: Museu de Arte Contemporânea (Modern Art Museum) appears to be an upside-down light fixture, a UFO, or an elegant serving bowl, depending on one's perspective. The museum, designed by Oscar Niemeyer, opened in 1996 in the Niteroi suburb city of Rio, and it overlooks Rio and the bay.
  • Sugarloaf, Rio de Janeiro: Sugarloaf is a well-known symbol of Rio de Janeiro. It is a rounded rock peak that rises 394 metres above the beaches and city. It juts out of a tree-covered promontory. Tourists flock to its summit for views of Rio de Janeiro and the harbour, as well as the thrill of riding in a cable car suspended between Sugarloaf and the Morro da Urca, a lower peak from which a second cableway connects to the city. One of three early forts that can be visited below these peaks, near the long Praia da Urca beach, is the star-shaped Fort São João.

Five Must-try Foods in Brazil

  • Moqueca: More than just a fish stew, moqueca is served with a theatrical flourish. Clouds of fragrant steam rise from the piping hot clay pot as it is uncovered on the table. Both Baianos and Capixabas claim to be the inventors of the dish and serve equally delicious variations. Fish and other seafood are made into a stew with diced tomatoes, onions, and coriander. The Capixabas use annatto seeds for natural red food colouring, while the Baianos use palm oil, peppers, and coconut milk in their version. Moqueca is served with rice, farofa (toasted cassava flour), and Piro.
  • Feijoada: Feijoada is a well-known Brazilian dish and is eaten all over the country. This hearty stew is made with black beans and various cuts of pork. Tomatoes, cabbage, and carrots are added to enhance the flavour. Traditionally, slow-cooked offal such as trotters and ears have been used. Brazil's national dish consists of fried kale with bacon bits, rice, farofa, and an orange slice.
  • Vatapá: Vatapá is a thick Bahian stew with shrimp as its core ingredient. It is mixed with bread, herbs, ground peanuts and coconut milk. It goes well with rice as well as acarajé. Instead of shrimp, tuna can also be used to prepare this dish. Sometimes you’ll find alternatives like chicken or vegetables being used to prepare variations of this popular dish.
  • Acarajé: Acarajé, a well-known street food, is another Bahia favourite. This crispy, deep-fried fritter is made from mashed black-eyed peas with chopped onions.
  • Empadão: It's a flaky pie filled with chicken casserole and vegetables such as corn, hearts of palm, and peas. Chicken is occasionally replaced with beef or shrimp. It is served for family lunches and dinners on weekends and public holidays in Brazil.

Top 3 Things to do in Brazil

  • Wildlife watching in the Pantanal: It is a one-of-a-kind destination because it is a massive swamp. Not only can you see beautiful macaws here, but also piranhas, jaguars, caimans, and other animals.
  • Snorkel in Bonito: Due to its striking natural beauty and unique wildlife, Bonito is one of the best ecotourism destinations in Brazil, if not the world. Tourists come here to snorkel with colourful fish in crystal clear waters. You might even spot alligators and snakes here! Various locations in Bonito are suitable for eco-snorkelling, but the Prata River and the Sucuri River are the favourite choices.
  • Sail in the Poti river canyons: According to experts, Poti Canyon is about 400 million years old. Its spectacular fauna and flora, as well as prehistoric rock carvings, make it a must-see. The canyon, which is about 197 feet (60 metres) high and hidden in a desert wilderness, creates an oasis in the region where visitors come to kayak or sail in a tour boat.

Best Places for Shopping in Brazil

  • Rua Oscar Freire: Many national and international boutiques fill the streets of Jardin. Here you can find various fashionable items. You can even eat something at a number of gourmet food shops while shopping. The restaurants specialise in international and traditional cuisines and are a wonderful treat. If you're interested in purchasing accessories, you can visit the many high-end jewellery stores here.
  • Visconde de Pirajá: This commercial area in Ipanema is one of Brazil's most well-known markets, with plenty of places to shop. Forum Ipanema, Galeria Astor, Esquina de Ipanema, and Galeria Beco de Ipanema are some of the shopping malls in the area. Here you will find fantastic designer collections, and it is a must-visit if you enjoy all things fashionable.
  • Feira do Rio Antigo: Feira do Rio Antigo is a must-see for anyone obsessed with antique collections, crafts or music. Every first Saturday of the month, there is an antique fair, and if you plan a trip to Brazil, you should definitely stop by.
  • Rua 25 de Março: It is a famous market in Brazil if you want to buy things at low prices. There are many small markets and shops in the Centro neighborhood of São Paulo that sell toys, textiles, and other small trinkets. However, be careful and keep an eye on your belongings when shopping here because the streets are pretty packed.

Hotels to Stay in Brazil

  • Quality Paulista (São Paulo, Jardins): Quality São Paulo Jardins is located on the charming Alameda Lorena in the Jardins district of São Paulo. Indian Restaurants in Brazil

  • Casa Prema: It is a vegetarian Indian restaurant in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo. Aside from their grilled tofu and onion skewers, they also serve a royal banana lasagna with various salads. They have a peaceful resting area which can be a relaxing experience in the company of their brews, a cup of good old chai or a ginger and mint tea. What's best is that these beverages are available at no extra cost!
  • Bombay Grill: Bombay Grill is an Indian restaurant in Brazil that will remind you of home away from home. Their street food selection is out of this world. You will find it very difficult to choose between their pani puri, bhel puri, and chole bhature. Their butter chicken is as sweet, rich, and creamy as you'd expect.

Adventurous Activities to Do in Brazil

  • Hang gliding in Rio: Running off the edge of a platform with nothing between you and the ground 800 metres (2,624 feet) below takes a leap of faith. However, the view of the rainforest and beaches is very enthralling. You might just forget about the ground until your toes touch the sand at So Conrado beach.
  • Kite-surfing in Jericoacoara: From July to November, kite-surf enthusiasts from all over the world flock to this tiny village to enjoy some of the best and most consistent kite-surfing conditions in Brazil. It is suitable for both beginners and advanced surfers.
  • Diving in Fernando de Noronha: This small archipelago off the coast of Pernambuco has some of the best diving spots in Brazil. You can see dolphins, turtles, manta rays, and numerous underwater caves. Crowds are kept to a minimum because only 420 visitors are permitted on the island at any given time.

Top 5 airlines flying to Brazil

It was a long flight but overall a good one. The one thing that I would comment on is that there is a real problem with disposable plastic products when it comes to the meal service. It would be great for Qatar Airways to find ways to make its meal service more circular and reduce the immense amount of waste.

they give hard time at checking, they not allow computer bag or purse

There’s lots of problem I faced from Bom to Doha that experience was worst I never faced before like this

Overall it was a very good experience. Boarding was efficient and well organized. The cabin crew were excellent. The meals were tasty and quite filling. The warm bread rolls were a nice touch. Seats were comfortable even if they were a little narrow. Entertainment selection was excellent.

This is my first and last flight with Qatar because when we go for boarding pass in Delhi airport the team asked for money charging me for hand baggage which is technically including with my ticket so also we get one our temple pics I ask them to checking in but they tell me I have to pay $500 dollars for that additional which is not make sense than I diseased to throw away because I can’t take with us . For carry in beg also I pay some Indian n currency for the guy who help I already pay 6 passengers ticket cost me $8000 so really I’m not happy . PLUS MY 6 checked baggage was damaged I already claim for four beg at airport but now I’m worried about my stuff inside maybe broken too which is more expensive stuff me really bad experience

My seat that I booked over a year ago and some other passenger was sitting in it. They said they could not walk and they would not move. I was with my young kid and the crew did nothing to accommodate that. Just disappointed that the airline accepts that excuse from a passenger.

They shld improve and provide a lunch or dinner in an international leg

The crew was courteous and efficient. There was no entertainment or liquor service on this short international flight.

Just money making business. This was my fourth journey with Qatar Airways, year by year the quality of service getting poor. Food is very cheap. They have some low quality alcohol beverages. They don’t have any brandy or cognac. No toilet around the gate lounge. We have to wait until getting to the flight for use toilet.very long standing for entering into the flight. We can see the old passenger suffering.

They have misplaced my one checked bag which I have not received in Philadelphia and have lodged complaint with American Airlines, the staff of Indigo was rude with us, at the checking counter, I think she purposely withheld my one of the checked bag, because the American Airlines staff told me that bag was not received at Doha airport. Kindly help me with one of my checked bag to get it. My flight was from Mumbai to Doha and then Doha to Philadelphia.

Cabin crew on our flight showed lack of any customer service gruff and acting annoyed if you asked anything and I mean anything Example a man on the seat over dropped his beer on my husbands blanket We asked if we could switch out blankets cabin crew Said. No we don’t have any extras OK well can you take the wet one Cabin crew looked disgusted and annoyed Took it no OK or yes just a growl

Quick flight. But cabin crew were very noisy and talking too much, especially when we were seated at the back of the plane trying to sleep through the night .

My ticket was for Premium Economy and all the seats were taken, I was placed in Economy class and I’m looking for a refund.

Unfortunately delayed 2 hrs due to faulty tyre.. which had to be changed, but better safe than sorry.

Hi vergin Atlantic service was good but the flight ticket agent travel up charge me extra 57 pounds as a airport charges, actually I refuse to pay but they say if I not pay £57 then they say you will not be able to travel from Heathrow to goa ,so for me there was no option and it was just 3 day before my departure so i paid, so please look in to the matter. And I have a receipt of £ 57 as well .thanks

We were in the last group to be called to the flight - which was 30 minutes late taking off. While we were lucky enough to have been given bulkhead seats (due to a medical condition I’d told them about beforehand) the seats weren’t particularly comfortable. A crying baby for the whole trip made things worse, so the crew managed very well with coping. The final thing I’d say was that there wasn’t enough food served during the flight.

Very good. Glad we had Premium for the flight out.

We flew Upper Class from London to The Turks and Caicos. Check in was amazing. Our ldriver too us directly to a special entrance to terminal 3. It took 10 minutes to check in and clear customs. Amazing! The VA lounge is large and comfortable. Boarding the flight was easy and without a wait. The crew was excellent. But the seats were awful, strange and uncomfortable. Having a comfortable flat bed seat is the reason we pays 1000s extra. The VA 787 uses a reverse herringbone configuration. Look it up. You have your back to the window and are facing the aisle with no privacy. Turning the seat into a bed requires assistance from the crew so not very spontaneous. . The food was ok. A bit tasteless and meager portions. Had to pay for WiFi. I believe VA has other configuration on their dream airbus flights. Lots of stuff about all this on YouTube where you can see what I have been describing. I can not recommend taking VA on a long flight with these seats.

From the start everything was perfectly fine. First meal was fantastic. Breakfast needs a lot of work and food was overcooked and not very nice for breakfast. Staff were fantastic friendly nice they came round and check we need anything else to eat or drink

From the start everything was perfectly fine. First meal was fantastic. Breakfast needs a lot of work and food was overcooked and not very nice for breakfast. Staff for a fantastic friendly nice we came round and check we need anything else to eat or drink

Choice of Vegetarian Food in Economy class needs overhaul improvement

The gate was changed at the very last moment and no one informed us. The flight was one hour late and the screen broken, the remote control not working. One toilet was out of order . the other toilets were also not totally functioning, because the washbasin was plugged and the water couldn't flow away.

The crew were extremely unfriendly. The plane was dirty and the entertainment system did not work, so they did not even give out earphones to anyone.

it was a nice tripe but they need to work on the serving of soda, they should be abled to serve cain soda not on cup.At least each passenger should be entitled to one cain of soda not serving on cup.thanks.

The entertainment (movies) blockbuster and classics never change. I am a frequent Ethiopian flyer and this should be addressed. Not much changed from my summer flight and my December flight. It is annoying - surely you can update the selections more often. Same with food options. It becomes extremely boring to be offered the same exact meals from Washington to Addis to Maputo every trip, each time. AS

Food was horrible. Our flight was not comfortable due to turbulence, seats was not comfortable, Very tight barely can not move anywhere.

The check in staff was amazing. Best customer service! The plane was old! My entertainment on the first flight didn't work at all, in my seat or in the seat next to me. The bathroom doors were old and troublesome. One of the bathrooms, the whole sink panel was broken. Everything felt old and falling apart. The airline stewardesses were amazing and quite hospitable. When there were delays, they kept us well informed. Transit was GREAT! I wasn't sure how I would make it to my next flight in 1 1/2 hours but the security lines were short and efficient. The C gates in Addis Ababa were CROWDED! That whole space downstairs was too crowded and challenging to manuever. I usually fly Ethiopian within Africa and was interested to see how the experience would be intercontinental. Overall, I would choose it again if it was cheaper than Delta/Air France or Lufthansa/KLM. I wouldn't make it a first choice if the prices were the same because the planes are so old! The food and entertainment also weren't as good. Good selection of movies but as I mentioned, on the first flight they didn't work at all (I slept so it was okay) and the 2nd flight it was glitchy. All in all, I didn't hate it but it would be a first choice only if it's cheaper.

The seats were quite uncomfortable despite having good legroom. The 350s are quite nice but the problem is on the old 777 aircraft. Special meal requests are not catered for as they should. They never had any ice for drinks.

I've never been served three bread courses in a single meal before. Was really impressed by the novelty of that.

The plane seemed very dated. The entertainment was very limited. There was a school group on our flight and the crew seemed bothered by them. They were not overly friendly or welcoming.

Ok, but no entertainment. Left late, but made up most of the time.

May be it is not an ITA issue, but the bags took long time to go out.

Good. But there food was poor quality and 95% of movies didn't have English subtitles

I thought they had rebranded themselves in every aspect but it was quite the opposite. The food was terrible the service was sub-par. Overall it was not a good experience.

Service from staff was poor, food choices were limited. Air plane was not clean or hygienic and seemed like not cleaned for days. Seats were uncomfortable.

service from stAff was barely there , food choices were limited. AirPlane was not clean and seemed like it was not cleaned for days.. Seats were very uncomfortable.

I paid for premium seats and the last minute they changed the aircraft for a bigger one, they bumped me to another seat which was NOT at all comfortable for an 11 hour flight, will fight for a refund!!

The landing was catastrophic. I was very scared. I thought it were my last lminues. Pilotes should be more experienced

ALL services were good. An announcement should’ve been made at the end of the flight that filling out a customs form would not be necessary anymore for USA travelers entering Philadelphia.

Need to update the staff of the airport. They tell luggage weight according to they want.

The Air India lounge in Delhi , was very disappointing! The food was of poor quality and options were limited especially for vegetarians!! Beverages were fine. The in flight crew was excellent! . They helped me with my seat controls - the controls did not work without a hassle or assistance!! A very poor showing for a Business cabin!!! Post flight , the wheel chair passengers ( including Me) were “ shepherded and left waiting twice (an hour or more) before taking us to immigration! I chose to Fly Air India because I want. to patronize our National carrier with the hope that the experience will improve!!! Regrettably, I will have to look at other options for my next trip to India

Mediocre staff, crappy food selections and no entertainment for a 14 hour flight. The only good thing was that it was a direct flight.

Entertainment system was not working and was told I would get a voucher and have not got one. No toiletries were available not even a toothbrush false sweet talk by ground staff

Not comfortable for sitting. Sits are too close to each other and it’s too hard for butt..you need to improve your entertainment section like tv programming, Movies, it’s so hard to kill 15 hrs in long flights .you don’t serve good food like other competitive airlines thats my opinion

Worst International flight I ever had in my whole life time. Boarding is the worst of all and flight experience was also not good. Screens were not working, seats were not comfortable and lot more.

Comfortable seats, on time departures and arrival, and helping staff

Very very impressed with the proactive care and alertness with which ABHISHEK Chowdhary took care of us. Quietl, dignified , very alert, and meticulous. Very impressed. Also with SUNiL Kumar who was there for us in a very helpful way. SHERLY ALEX On Flight 119, BOM TO JFK CUSTOMER ON SEAT 21C, 21ST March 2024

If you are traveling to mumbai -- must try SFO - MUM direct flight. It's a game changer when you are traveling to India. Timings are well designed, optimal and makes the travel enjoyable.

On time boarding, proper information, friendly and cordial approach of staff, particularly crew members and the most important timely available of checked in baggage after arrival.

What a Trip to Brazil Costs in 2024 | Average Prices

It’s hard to sum up the spirit of South America’s largest country in a few sentences. This vibrant country’s wealth includes the world’s largest Carnival celebrations, acres of untouched Amazon forest, long stretches of white sand beaches, and even World Wonders like the Christ the Redeemer statue.

Despite all of this, it remains an accessible and affordable travel destination. Depending on what sorts of lodgings you like and the time of year you choose for travel, Brazil can be a luxury splurge or a penny-pincher’s paradise.

We’ll go over what you can expect to pay in different cities for different experiences. Pick and choose your travel priorities to figure out how much it will cost you to go to Brazil on your next vacation.

Average Trip to Brazil Cost in 2024

Average Brazil Trip Cost Table

A week in Brazil costs around $2,100 for two people:

  • Average Accommodation Cost: $50 per night
  • Average Flight Cost: $550 per person
  • Food, Drink & Activities: $30 per person, per day
  • Transportation: $10 per day
  • Total Cost: $2,100

Of course, how much you are going to spend depends a lot on the time of year you go and what kinds of accommodations you seek out. We’ll break it all down so you can get a better idea of what a trip to Brazil will cost you.

Brazil Trip Cost: Average by Item

When it comes to travel, there’s no one-size-fits-all answer. Your individual needs, preferences, and schedule will all play a part in how much you pay for your trip.

We’ve broken down costs by category so you can get a general idea how much other travelers spend on each. Pick and choose depending on your own priorities to get the trip you want at the right price.

Accommodation Costs

It is possible to find clean, well-located, well-appointed hotel rooms in Brazil for far less than you’d pay in other countries.

In Rio de Janeiro, for instance, your options include the well-reviewed Hotel Atlantico Tower . This three-star hotel is just a fifteen minute walk from Brazil Central Station, and only a couple of kilometers from attractions that include the AquaRio aquarium.

Some guests describe it as old, but say the central location and terrific service balances it out. Rooms run around $30 a night most times of year.

However, expect room costs to increase during big events like Carnival. A room at the Sant’ Matre during Carnival, for instance, may cost around $100. Expect to pay around $150 during that time of year at The Windsor Copa Hotel.

In other parts of the country, you may pay a bit more for your room. São Paulo, for instance, has a number of hotel options between $60 and $150 a night.

At the bargain end is the four-star Novotel São Paulo Jaragua Conventions, a modern hotel with an affordable $64 a night price tag. If you are looking for luxury, consider the Hilton São Paulo Morumbi, a five-star hotel with two restaurants and a spa on-site. Expect to pay a bit over $200 a night.

Flight Cost

Where you choose to land will have a huge impact on how much you will pay for your flight.

A flight from New York to Rio De Janero will cost around $550, depending on the time of year. A flight to São Paulo will cost anywhere from $400 to $900.

Other locations are often more expensive. The average cost of a flight to Salvador, for instance, will run around $750 per person.

Brazil is a large country, so you may wish to fly from destination to destination once you are there. A flight from Rio Di Janero in the south to Salvador near the country’s northern border will run you just under $200.

Food, Drink & Activity Costs

Food costs will depend largely on what sorts of meals you are looking for. A meal at an inexpensive restaurant will typically cost the equivalent of $5 per person.

If you are looking for something more formal, Numbeo says you can expect to pay around $28 per person  for a three-course meal for two at a mid-range restaurant.

When you see a price for a glass of beer, assume it’s for a .25 liter serving, which is about half the size of a pint. The price for this will be around $2. You also may be served a 600 cL bottle, which costs about $3 for an import beer.

Most Brazilians drink bottled water instead of tap water. A bottle of water will run you around 75 cents. Cappucino and espresso are the usual breakfast drinks, and should be around $1 to $2 a serving.

Brazil is mad for soccer, and it’s inexpensive to attend a game. Expect to pay less than $10 for a ticket. Carnival Brazil is one of the biggest attractions and occurs every year just before Lent.

The dates vary, so check your calendar. Carnival festivals are held in cities and towns throughout the country, and prices for attendance vary. Some smaller ones are free. But, if you want to see the parade in Rio de Janiero from the Samadrome, you’ll need to buy a ticket.

Ticket costs start around $30, but can go as high as $300 for VIP seats. Buy tickets early as they tend to sell out. A Sambadrome ticket includes the cost of a subway ticket to the event.

If you are going to be in the southern part of the country, be sure to take in some of the area’s German-influenced culture. One good way to do this is on the hop-on/hop-off bus tour, which highlights local breweries.

A ticket good for two days costs $65 per adult. Botanical gardens and national parks are great ways to see the country’s unique flora and fauna. Admission to the parks ranges from $15 to $20.

One exception is the Tujuca National Park in the mountains that surround Rio de Janeiro. Admission to this national park is free. However, tours that take you to the Christ the Redeemer sculpture may cost around $25.

Good researchers can find many more free activities for their time in Brazil. The Botanical Garden of Curitiba has free admission, and is a great place to observe art nouveau architecture and French-style gardens.

Lago Negro in Gramado offers free admission. Visitors can walk the trail or people watch from the many benches.

You can also rent a swan-shaped paddle boat for under $30. Public beaches can also be entered for free. Either bring your own towel and cooler, or rent one on the beach for a few dollars.

Transportation Costs

Because Brazil is such a large country, many people who are visiting more than one city choose to rent a car. Car rental is fairly inexpensive, with most sites quoting around $10 a day.

Bus service within the cities is considered excellent. Posters on Reddit were particularly impressed with bus service in Salvador. Paved bike lanes are also common in Salvador, making that another feasible option for transportation.

Trains are also available in many large cities. A Metro Card to take the subway in Rio de Janiero will cost about the equivalent of $1 per person per day.

Many cities in Brazil have low-cost bike rentals through services like Bike Rio  for around $5 for 48 hours. The rentals are managed through an app on your phone and bikes can be picked up around town.

Things to Consider

Diego Grandi/Shutterstock

  • During the summer (January) it rains just about every day. The rain usually only lasts a couple of hours, though, so it is easy to plan around it.
  • The country is warm and friendly, but be cautious after dark. Many travelers recommend getting a cab or Uber home if you’re out late.
  • Download a Portuguese dictionary to your translator app of choice. (We like Google Translate.) Many Brazilians learn English in school, but it is not universally spoken, especially outside major cities.
  • Tap water is safe to drink, but is often not palatable. Most locals drink bottled water instead.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a week enough in Brazil?

Brazil is the largest country in South America. A week is the bare minimum to spend in this rich and diverse country. Many travel guides suggest two to three weeks instead. If you only have a week, consider concentrating on a specific city or region.

Is a visit to Brazil worth it?

Travelers who’ve gone to Brazil consider it the trip of a lifetime. If you have the opportunity to visit this country, take it.

What’s the cheapest time to travel to Brazil?

May through September is Brazil’s low season and when you’ll likely find the cheapest prices on flights and hotels. The only exception is July, which is a school holiday month.

What are the best months to go to Brazil?

This all depends on what you want to see. June through December has less rainfall, which makes it the best time to visit the jungle. If your trip will take you to Rio, June to September is the sweet spot for dry, mild weather. However, temperatures are pleasant year round, making any month a good month to go to Brazil.

So, What Is the Average Trip Cost for Brazil?

All in all, expect to spend about $2,100 for a one-week trip for two to Brazil. How much it will cost will depend heavily on when you are going and what you want to do while you are there.

The more open you are to experiencing the country like a local, the more affordable your trip will be.

So, get out of your comfort zone and open yourself up to the largest and one of the most diverse countries in South America for the trip of a lifetime. Happy travels!

Things to Do in Brazil

As South America’s largest country, there are so many things to do and see in Brazil! We encourage travelers to go beyond well-known activities and destinations. After all, with a third of the world’s rainforests, a vast coastline of serene beaches (unknown and practically untouched!), colorful flora and fauna, picturesque colonial towns, and incredible metropoles, there is an abundance waiting to be explored. For nature enthusiasts looking at Brazil vacation packages, consider a scenic train ride through the Atlantic Rainforest, a cruise along the Amazon River, or an exploration of Rio’s Tijuca Rainforest - an easy escape from the city center. For art lovers, head to Belo Horizonte for Inhotim, a large open-air modern art museum, and then stop by some of architect Oscar Niemeyer’s famous works in Sao Paulo . If historically picturesque colonial towns are more to your taste, visit Ouro Preto, Tiradentes, and Congonhas in the Brazilian countryside. There are plenty of things to do in the cities and regions of Brazil - now is the time to start exploring.

Places to Visit in Brazil

It’s challenging to name the best destinations in Brazil , as there are so many beautiful and unique points scattered throughout the country. While some Brazil vacations solely focus on the well-known cities and areas, such as Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Brasilia , the Brazilian Amazon, and Iguazu Falls, we encourage travelers to explore the many incredible destinations beyond those that have earned iconic status. One great area is Minas Gerais (the countryside of Brazil), where travelers can find some of the most charming colonial towns nestled into the rolling green hills. Three traveler favorites are Ouro Preto, Tiradentes, and Congonhas, all designated as UNESCO World Heritage sites. Each city is full of enchantment with its baroque-style churches, cobblestone streets, and local art galleries. Additionally, Belo Horizonte, the capital of Minas Gerais, is a powerhouse city located about an hour away from one of the most fascinating open-air art museums: Inhotim. For those looking for wildlife, the Pantanal Wetlands is the best destination for you as spotting birds and adventuring on photo safaris gives travelers a better chance to see wildlife compared to the Amazon.

Rio de Janeiro

Often when travelers think of a tour of Brazil, Rio de Janeiro is the first destination that comes to mind, and for good reason. Marvelous Rio de Janeiro always exceeds even the highest expectations of travelers. On any of our Rio de Janeiro tours , see its panoramic views from Sugarloaf and Corcovado, the surrounding opulent Tijuca forest, South America’s oldest botanical garden, Burle Marx’ playful landscaping, and Copacabana and Ipanema’s white-sand beaches. The city leaves explorers with an indelible memory of Brazil’s landscape and culture. Enjoy a traditional Brazilian beef churrascaria, fruity caipirinha, and evening of samba during one of our Brazil travel packages.

Ilha Grande

Travel packages to Brazil don’t have to be all about big cities. If city life isn’t the vibe you’re looking for, head south towards Ilha Grande . You’ll go from bustling city life to serenely quiet beaches. In fact, you’ll be hard-pressed to even spot a car on the island. It’s a great escape for those looking to truly kick back and relax. While enjoying your stay in Ilha Grande, be sure to check out the blue lagoon and Lopes Mendes, one of the most famous beaches in Brazil . If you’re looking for a bit of civilization, you can always pop into Vila Abraão, the main village on the island. Here you’ll be greeted by cheerful locals, local vendors, and quaint outdoor restaurants.

Fernando de Noronha

Vacations to Brazil often include stops or days of relaxation at some of Brazil’s world-famous beaches. From the northeast’s sand dunes and stylish beach towns to Rio’s famed Copacabana and Ipanema beaches, there is a beach for everyone. In northern Brazil, visit Fernando de Noronha – the volcanic archipelago off the coast of Brazil offers ideal snorkeling and diving and is home to over 400 different species.

Atlantic Rainforest & Curitiba

While the Amazon Rainforest is a well-known entity, you don’t hear nearly as much about the Atlantic Rainforest . A UNESCO World Heritage Site and hiker’s paradise, this incredibly diverse ecosystem has more tree species than the Amazon, a whopping 450 to be precise. While exploring the Atlantic Rainforest , you may start your journey from the nearby city of Curitiba, one of the best cities in Brazil. Curitiba itself is encompassed by the Atlantic Rainforest and offers one of the most scenic train rides through the rainforest itself. Aside from taking the train out of Curitiba, you can embark on a hike through the rainforest and camp there as well. When immersed within the forest, you’ll spot exotic wildlife and vegetation you’ve never seen before. It’s utterly enchanting and a must-see aspect while traveling Brazil.

Salvador da Bahia

If you’re looking to dive into the cultural heart of Brazil, Salvador da Bahia is a great place to start. Established shortly after the Portuguese arrival in Brazil in 1500, the city’s center, Pelourinho, is Brazil’s first UNESCO heritage site. On one of our tailored Brazil trip packages, you can explore the once capital of Brazil and it’s distinct historic charm. The streets are always buzzing with activity and you’ll have the chance to indulge in the amazing Afro-Brazilian cuisine. From capoeira street performers to hiking the highlands beyond the city, there’s never a shortage of things to do Salvador da Bahia.

Brazil Travel FAQ’s

Thinking about a Brazil trip? Here’s a list of frequently asked questions we often hear from our guests. Visit our  Brazil Info  page for in-depth Brazil travel tips.

What is the best time to visit Brazil?

Keep in mind that while Brazil is notably a warm destination, it is also a vast country with various regions which may lead to slightly different climates and seasons. However, generally speaking, Brazil’s winter (June – August) is off-season and typically results in fewer crowds in major cities and towns, with less humidity and thus bluer skies. The summer (December – March) is coined as the high-season, featuring lively beaches, events, and numerous cultural festivities, like the famous Carnival. As for Brazil’s other popular regions, including the Amazon, the seasons can have little impact, offering unique tours and experiences throughout the year.

Is Brazil safe to visit?

Is brazil a good destination for honeymooners, what is the food like in brazil is it safe, how do i plan a trip to brazil, what is the best brazil tour, how much does it cost to travel to brazil.

Flights from the U.S. typically range between 500 and 900 USD, depending on the season, with European flights approximately 50% more. Apart from flights, Brazil is a backpacker’s paradise and also a destination for luxury. So, again, your overall cost really depends on what you can budget. It is recommended to stay a minimum of two to three weeks in Brazil as the country is enormous and you’ve already spent good money on the airfare alone.

How safe is flying in Brazil?

Do i need vaccinations for brazil.

Yes, all those you need at home and a few more to stay healthy in Brazil , especially a Yellow Fever vaccination. Without the certificate of Yellow Fever vaccination, you will not be allowed to travel on to some other countries. If you are over the age of 60, or you cannot have the vaccination for other reason, it is likely your doctor will be able to issue you with an exception. Then you bring that exemption instead of the certificate along with you. For visits to the Amazon , malaria prophylaxis is highly recommended as well.

How Much Does a Trip to Brazil Cost (On Any Budget)?

“How much does a trip to Brazil cost?” “Is Brazil expensive for tourists?”

In this article, I answer these and other questions you might have while planning your Brazil trip .

It’s not a secret that Brazil is one of the most expensive countries in South America. Still, for those travelers who earn in dollars, pounds, or euros, the 4-to-1 exchange rate makes the country surprisingly affordable.

It’s important to note that Brazil is a country of extremes.

And because of the wide variance of pricing across the country, one of the most common questions I get about it is also one of the most difficult ones to answer: How much does it cost to go to Brazil?

In big cities, such as Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, food and accommodation are considerably more expensive than in other areas, but that doesn’t mean you can’t travel in the country on a tight budget.

From a basic Brazil travel budget to what to expect when planning a luxury getaway, here’s how much a trip to Brazil costs.

How to use this trip to Brazil cost guide

Unless otherwise stated, the average cost to travel to Brazil mentioned in this post are given in USD.

As for this guide, I’m assuming you’re traveling during high-season, late-December–mid-March, except during the week of Carnival and New Year’s Day .

These are big holidays in Brazil , and prices can vary dramatically.

Keep in mind that every traveler and the cost of every trip to Brazil is unique. This Brazil budget guide is only a reference so that you can plan your vacation .

Here, I’ve put together a rough estimate of what a solo traveler can expect to spend at diverse price points on a trip to Brazil, if you’re traveling with another person and can split the costs, you will be able to lower these numbers further.

About flying into Brazil

I intentionally kept the cost of getting to Brazil out from this Brazil budget guide, purely because the flight ticket price varies dramatically based on where you are coming from.

For travelers departing from Europe, flights are relatively affordable when booked in advance. That’s a route I take often.

For travelers departing from Australia or North America, flights are much more expensive, unless you live in Florida, of course, which is the nearest state to Brazil.

Hut at the beach in Bahia state, Brazil trip

Budget trip to Brazil cost: $55-70/day

While the average cost of living in Brazil is relatively high when considering local salaries–that is especially true in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro –the average cost of a trip to Brazil can be very low.

Thanks to the 4-to-1 exchange rate, you can easily travel to Brazil on a shoestring budget.

You will want to book your flights and accommodation well in advance to snag good deals. It takes a little planning, but it’s doable.

Accommodation

You can find accommodation in Brazil at all price points, including the lowest one, with dorm rooms in hostels starting at $5 per person/night.

Many simple hotels offer a private room for a little more money, you just need to find them.

Otherwise, you can certainly find dorm rooms around $10-20 per person/night.

But be sensitive regarding the location. For instance, it’s unlikely a hotel in the Amazon Rainforest will be cheap since there aren’t many options available.

Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo are the most expensive cities in Brazil. Still, you might be able to find good deals if you book well ahead, and preferably not during a major holiday.

Transportation

Transportation within cities isn’t expensive or hard to manage on a budget for a trip to Brazil.

The bus system is always an option and a cheap one too. A one-way ticket costs $1 in most cities.

When available, the metro is also not costly, and even Uber is relatively cheap.

In fact, I would take Uber in São Paulo to go everywhere because I was a bit lazy, and it is cheap.

For sightseeing, you’re better off using public transportation or Uber. Still, for a day trip to another town or to continue your trip within Brazil, buses are the most affordable option.

However, if you want to visit a faraway waterfall , a secluded beach, or a national park in Brazil, you might need to rent a car when a guided tour is not available.

Check rental car prices for your trip to Brazil.

Food in Brazil can be as cheap or expensive as you want.

Most cities have small, family-owned restaurants that offer a full plate with rice, beans, meat, and salad for $5–they’re simple, but the food is usually delicious.

My husband and I once paid that amount for a meal in Arraial do Cabo , and he could not believe it–the plate was so full he didn’t finish it.

Groceries are affordable, especially if you avoid tier A shops, such as Pão de Açúcar. Also, you might want to check out neighborhood street fairs that sell fresh Brazilian fruits and vegetables.

You can also buy street food for lunch. Coxinha and pastel are both delicious, cheap, and fill up well.

Note that most hostels allow full use of their cooking facilities, and some might even include breakfast in the dorm price.

Tours & attractions

Ticket and tour prices vary a great deal based on the attraction and where you are.

Major attractions like the Christ The Redeemer Statue and Sugarloaf Mountain cost a bit to visit—somewhere $20-30—increasing the average cost of a trip to Rio de Janeiro, for example.

However, there are enough free places to visit in Brazil that there’s no reason you should buy a ticket if you’re traveling on a tight budget.

For instance, many museums have free admission or are very cheap.

This way, you can easily keep your trip to Brazil’s cost down and don’t break the bank.

Octavio Frias de Oliveira Bridge in Sao Paulo

Mid-range trip to Brazil cost: $100-120/day

While traveling Brazil on a strict budget is entirely doable, traveling the country on a mid-range budget can be much simpler and more comfortable than you think.

As said, if you plan ahead and book your accommodation well in advance, you can find excellent accommodation in major cities, including affordable hotels in Rio de Janeiro –Brazil’s most visited city.

From big cities to small rural towns, you can easily find accommodation in Brazil well under $90/day, often including breakfast.

Though you don’t want to splurge every night when budgeting your trip to Brazil, you might find room to stay in a nicer hotel for one or two nights.

Traveling Brazil on a mid-budget allows you to take Uber a little more often if you like.

But during peak hours, traffic jams can escalate to a whole new level, and in those cases, you’re better off taking the metro.

I still recommend you avoid renting a car to travel within a city because the motorcycles make the traffic jam chaotic. Again, to travel to other towns, a rental car is the way to go.

On a mid-range budget, food in Brazil will look like a breakfast included in your hotel price and two meals out per day.

Mind you, eating out in Brazil doesn’t have to be expensive. In fact, it can be pretty affordable if you choose the restaurant carefully, instead of simply walking in the first eating venue you see.

Besides, Brazilian food is heavy, and it fills up well, so you might find that having some small snacks in between is more than enough to go through the day.

When budgeting your trip to Brazil cost, you will want to include a small part of it for tickets and tours in the country , such as visiting Christ The Redeemer Statue, taking the cable car to the Sugarloaf Mountain, and a guided tour in the Iguazu Falls.

Naturally, you won’t have to set aside a massive part of your budget for tickets, as some of the best things to do in Brazil , whether you are on a strict budget or not, are free.

Parque Lage and Corcovado at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Luxury trip to Brazil cost: $200/day & up

Like most destinations around the globe, how much a trip to Brazil costs on a luxury budget will be purely based on your taste.

Brazil has plenty of upscale hotels and resorts with top-notch service, and if you’re lucky, an excellent view, like this hotel in Copacabana or this hut in the Amazon Rainforest .

At this price point, you can also consider staying in all-inclusive resorts in Brazil–it’s worth every penny.

Years ago, I stayed at Med Club Trancoso and absolutely loved it. Everything was perfect–the food, drinks, facilities, views, and location.

Again, the sky is the limit.

For transportation in the cities, Uber will be your best option. Again, avoid driving in big cities if you are not used to the way things flow–motorcycles have their own rules.

As for traveling in the country, you can rent higher-end and more comfortable cars, which I highly recommend as the roads in Brazil often lack in maintenance.

Either way, road tripping in Brazil is a complete delight and the best way to see the country.

Traveling Brazil on a luxury budget allows for unique food experiences.

Although you can find delicious appetizers in reputable bars, Brazil has no shortage of high-end restaurants.

For instance, taking cooking lessons, a detailed food tour, eating out every day, and dining in Michelin-rated restaurants are some food experiences to consider.

When calculating your trip to Brazil cost on a luxury budget, you will want to set aside some portion for a few unique experiences in the country.

Think a helicopter tour over São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro, cruise tours in the Amazon Rainforest, the world’s most famous carnival parade in Rio, scuba diving in one of our marine national parks, and spa days in fantastic resorts.

Final words on the cost to travel to Brazil

While Brazil prices are unfortunately very high for residents, the country offers many possibilities for travelers of all budgets.

The average cost to travel to Brazil can vary dramatically based mostly on your accommodation, transportation, food, and tour choices, so choose carefully if you’re on a strict budget.

Either way, I hope you have a fantastic time in Brazil.
