Bring Me the Horizon, live

Bring Me the Horizon at London’s O2 Arena: everything you need to know

The legendary Sheffield band is playing two shows in Greenwich this weekend

Ed Cunningham

Bring Me the Horizon’s symphonic, anthemic sound is especially well-suited to massive shows – it’s no wonder that the legendary Sheffield metal and rock group has such a solid live rep. Two of the band’s previous London shows – at Wembley and the Royal Albert Hall – were so stonkingly good that they were even officially released as live records.

In other words, when BMTH are in town, you don’t want to miss ‘em. And that’s exactly what’s happening this weekend. Oli Sykes, Matt Kean, Lee Malia and Matt Nicholls are at London’s O2 Arena for two shows. From support and doors to any remaining tickets, here’s everything you need to know.

When is Bring Me The Horizon at London’s O2 Arena?

The band are playing this weekend on Saturday January 20 and Sunday January 21.

What time do doors open?

Doors on Saturday open at 5:30pm, while doors for the Sunday gig open at 5pm.

What time will the band come on stage?

Judging from previous shows on this tour, expect BMTH to come on stage at around 9:15pm on Saturday and 8:45pm on Sunday.

Who is supporting Bring Me The Horizon?

Support for both shows comes from Bad Omens, Cassyette and Static Dress.

Any news on the setlist?

There’s no official setlist. However, according to Setlist.fm this is what Bring Me the Horizon played at an earlier tour date in Liverpool .

  • Empire (Let Them Sing)
  • The Best Is Yet to Come (Aoife Ní Fhearraigh song)
  • Shadow Moses
  • Itch for the Cure (When Will We Be Free?)
  • Diamonds Aren't Forever
  • Parasite Eve
  • Can You Feel My Heart

Can you still get tickets to Bring Me The Horizon at London’s O2 Arena?

Some tickets are available for both shows, though more are still for sale for the Sunday gig. Tickets start from £45 and you can find them on AXS here .

World dominating, multi-award nominated Bring Me The Horizon's long awaited POST HUMAN arena tour will stop at The O2 on 26 September 2021. This will be their only live shows in the UK for 2021.

Continuing to push their creative boundaries, even during lockdown, the band have created a body of work in POST HUMAN: SURVIVAL HORROR that is arguably one of their most exciting, diverse, intricate pieces of music to date.

About Bring Me The Horizon

BRIT and Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum-selling quintet Bring Me The Horizon is one of the most electrifying and successful rock bands to emerge from the UK. The group released their sixth studio album,  amo,  in 2019, which debuted at Number 1 in 17 markets and was named “one of the most anticipated albums of 2019” by Billboard, with NME describing it as “bold, brilliant and boundary-pushing.”  amo  garnered the band their second Grammy nomination for ‘Best Rock Album’ after the LP’s first single, “MANTRA,” earned them a nod for ‘Best Rock Song’ in 2018. The Sheffield 5-piece also received their first BRIT Award nomination for ‘Best Group’ this year. Bring Me The Horizon has sold over 4 million albums globally to date, played sold-out shows in over 40 countries, including two sold out nights at London’s The O2, one night at The Forum in Los Angeles, and wowed a traditionally non-rock crowd at Glastonbury Festival in 2016 and 2018, and stole the show at high profile festivals across Europe all summer 2019.  amo  followed 2016’s critically acclaimed, Platinum-certified  That’s The Spirit , which entered the UK charts and the US Billboard album chart at Number Two. They have now also amassed over 1 billion video views on YouTube.

Bring Me The Horizon are vocalist Oli Sykes, guitarist Lee Malia, bassist Matt Kean, drummer Mat Nicholls, and keyboardist Jordan Fish.

LIVE REVIEW: Bring Me The Horizon, O2 Arena, London, 26/09/2021

bring me the horizon tour london

“I haven’t seen a mosh pit in two fucking years. So, you know what I’m going to ask you,” demands Oli Sykes , commanding ringleader of mosh pits and Bring Me The Horizon vocalist, as the band rip roars into the closing night of the Sheffield five-piece’s POST HUMAN: SURVIVAL HORROR Tour at O2 Arena on Sunday Night. Adorned in sophisticated rock style in matching Bring Me branded suits, backed by cyber cheerleaders and hazmat wearing dancers, illuminated by a production set up that gave a rock ready masterclass in the art of visionary illusions, trickery and symbolism. This is the spellbinding story of Bring Me The Horizon’s biggest headline show to date, done to spectacularly thrilling effect.

“Are you fucking ready London? Go!,” screams Sykes on setlist opener Teardrops , the first of seven songs to be played from the bands sonically innovating EP POST HUMAN : SURVIVAL HORROR, including the dystopian post-apocalyptic atmosphere of Dear Diary, the chaotic on-stage collaborations with Nova Twins on 1×1 and YUNGBLUD on Obey , the latter sending the tent into a mosh-pit filled frenzy. Alongside 20,000 people sneezing in synchronised unison to the unintentional virus anthem Parasite Eve , a cathartic moment of unity that would be frowned upon a year ago even keeping your two-metre distance amongst the many POST HUMAN songs making the new music dominated setlist. Ascending The O2 out of pitch-black darkness into a full-on rapturous nu-metal rave, on opener Teardrops however, Bring Me The Horizon bring a flavour of a futuristic glimpse into a glitchy technological future, with star-studded production to stimulate the senses and kick the adrenaline levels into overdrive and that’s just the opening song on the eighteen track setlist.

Continuing his command as ringmaster of pits, Sykes says: “I hope you remember what circle pits are out there. The mosh pits have been like a 5/10 so far, London you can improve your skills. All you have to do is move around in a circle like a fucking mad head.” A song you definitely do want to be moshing to, Bring Me The Horizon break out into the first dose of mainstream breakthrough album Sempiternal with the post-hardcore heaviness of The House Of Wolves, alongside the latter atmospherics of Shadow Moses. “I can’t fucking hear ya,” beckons Sykes in the direction of the packed-out floor filling The O2 and willingly wanting to obey to Sykes singing and mosh pit demands, the standers and the entire arena bark back “Brick by brick by brick” singing along a little fucking louder indeed.

Making music to take them into arenas, Bring Me The Horizon have been peoples gateway to get into rock music, with their cleverly constructed crossover into the mainstream on recent records like 2015’s That’s The Spirit and 2019’s amo . Even new extreme emo pop anthem DiE4u bridges the gap between the two and gains a singalong seal of approval from the audiences on its first even run of live outings. A sentiment echoed by Sykes on its lyrics of toxic relationships that make you realize who’s truly important in life, something Sykes emotionally nods to preceding the track’s performance:  “I heard a quote the other day that I thought was so true. Broken people fix broken people. And you lot have saved me more than you will ever fucking know. You save my life everyday. I’d die for you, you know.”

“What kind of song would you call this? I guess you could call it a happy song” continues along the lines of the more modern Bring Me material making up the setlist, with That’s The Spirit’s monstrous slice of cathartic chant worthy rock Happy Song amping up the spectacular stage production to thrilling effect once more, with pom pom dancing cyborg cheerleaders and promises of “You will die if you stand in the middle of this mosh pit” only riling up the crowd to earn their stripes, upgrading the pits from a 5/10 to a 10/10 in the space of a few songs. “Now that’s the spirit. 10/10 London you did yourselves proud, fucking legends,” The O2 finally getting the top tier seal of approval from the master himself. An acoustic take on Follow You follows, stripping back the band to a three piece of a visibly emotional Oli Sykes reduced to the point of tears during the simplistic take on the track, Lee Malia on the guitar and Jordan Fish on the keys, calming down the chaos for just one moment in time, that was before the epic electronic pulses of the almighty Throne during the encore kicked this Bring Me show back into action.

“We’ve been a band for 16 fucking years now, we are old. All that matters is that you are here for our band, I don’t care if there is 100 or you or 16,000 of you, the fact that you relate to what we do on this level is fucking mindblowing. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting Bring Me The Horizon throughout all these years,” is Sykes final heartfelt speech that comes before setlist closer Can You Feel My Heart. Barely making it to the song’s bridge, tears choke Sykes up, the crowd taking on vocal duties he is too overwhelmed with emotion to temporarily do. Sykes has no hollow shell for a heart here, and BMTH just rocked 20,000 people’s fucking world.

Bring Me The Horizon might be one of the biggest modern-rock bands around, but there was no rockstar ego attached to this show. A thrilling glimpse into a glitchy technological cyber future of live music on Bring Me’s biggest headline show to date, this will not be the biggest show Bring Me put on. This band will be back to ascend to even higher tiers of mainstream rock royalty, headlining Download and Reading And Leeds Festival doesn’t seem like a pipe dream to these “nobody kids” any more, but a reality that is bound to be a “dream come true” in the near future after that life affirming masterclass.

Bring Me the Horizon have established themselves as one of the most enduring metalcore groups to come out of Sheffield, UK with their brooding mix of deathcore rock and dabbling in other styles such as electronica and classical.

The band formed in 2004 when lead singer and principal songwriter Oliver Sykes was only 16 some of the group’s members were even younger. The average age of the band during their formation was 15. Apart from Sykes the rest of the band included guitarists Lee Malia and Curtis Ward, bassist Matt Kean, and drummer Matt Nicholls. The line up has not changed much since. “I Killed the Prom Queen” guitarist Jona Weinhofen replaced Curtis Ward in 2009, but eventually left in 2013 and keyboardist Jordan Fish completed the current line up in 2012.

Despite the groups young age the members of the band were already musically experienced. Lee Malia who had a keen interest in melodic death metal was in a Metallica tribute band prior to joining Bring Me the Horizon and Matt Kean had been in several local bands before entering the group. All the members were rooted in metal and hard rock, but it was Matt Nicholls and Oliver Sykes who really pushed the band in the hardcore punk and death metal direction. Before they formed Bring Me the Horizon Nicholls and Sykes would frequent American hardcore shows featuring such bands as southern metalcore act Norma Jean and New York’s Skycamefalling.

Oliver Skyes also wrote and recorded material before forming Bring Me the Horizon. Skyes spent a good portion of his childhood between Adelaide and Perth, but moved back to the UK when he was eight. Skyes was enrolled at the same school as Arctic Monkeys band members Alex Turner, Andy Nicholson and Matt Helders, though he was a year below them. During his attendance their in 2003 Sykes put together a CD compilation under the name Quakebeat. He also found interest in rap and formed a hip-hop group called “Womb 2 Da Tomb” with his brother and now fellow bandmate Nicholls. Sykes went on to pursue his true passion, forming the metal group “Purple Curto” with his school mate. While attending a concert of one of his favorite bands Funeral for a Friend he was granted the incredible opportunity to sing one of their songs on stage. Sykes recalls this as the best day of his life and just a little after this experience he formed Bring Me the Horizon.

The group released its first EP “This Is What the Edge of Your Seat Was Made For” on 2 October 2004 and was signed to UK label Thirty Days of Night Records for a four album record deal. The album was reissued in 2005 and made all the way to #41 on the UK album charts. The band went on to release their 2006 debut album Count Your Blessings. Though the album received mixed reaction from the general public and critics, the band was able to gain some praiseworthy traction, being endowed at the 2006 Kerrang! Awards ceremony as being the Best British Newcomers and opening up for The Red Chord on their UK dates. Bring Me the Horizon saw themselves touring more and more, though they received many of their early gigs through scheming against unassuming concert promoters.

The early iteration of Bring Me the Horizon was rough and unruly. The band would constantly consume alcohol and lose focus in their recording sessions. Their reputation seemed to exceed them on several accounts. When opening for Kill Switch Engaged on a European tour they were met by disgruntled fans who threw bottles at them before they even started playing and during the recording of their second album “Suicide Season” producer Fredrik Nordstrom was often absent from the sessions because of his negative premonitions of the band. However the group showed incredible potential with their sophomore release and delved into a much more focused sound. This release is attributed with introducing several varying stylistic changes opting for a more straightforward metalcore sound and incorporating elements of drum and bass, dubstep and industrial music.

The band continued to experiment with a more pop oriented sound for their preceding records and made a major breakthrough with their third LP “There Is a Hell, Believe Me I’ve Seen It. There Is a Heaven, Let’s Keep It A Secret”. This album appeared number 1 on the Australian Albums Chart, Number 13 on the UK Rock Chart and number 17 on the Billboard 200 in the US. The band left Epitaph records and put out their fourth album “Sempiternal” on RCA in 2013. This album also did exceptionally well on the UK, US and Australia album charts and saw the band playing alongside notable acts such as Rise Against and Bullet for My Valentine.

Bring Me The Horizon live in London: Sheffield icons take their place at rock’s top table

On the first of two nights at london's o2 arena, bring me the horizon show how they played the long game and won..

By Katerina Muszanskyj

bring me the horizon tour london

“We’ve been here since 5.30AM, we are tired and it’s cold, but it’s going to be so fucking worth it,” say Cory and Shelly, two of Bring Me The Horizon ‘s fans who pitched up extremely early at The O2 Arena on Saturday.

READ MORE:  How Bring Me The Horizon saved British rock

It’s testament to how far these these Sheffield icons have come. No longer the preserve of the underground, two sold out shows at this 20,000 arena reflects the fact that Oli Sykes and his band of merry misfits are now true rock royalty.

And on the first of two nights at the venue, the group’s championing spirit means they’re supported by rock icons in waiting too.

Cassyette warmed up the stage with her powerful vocals and larger than life stage presence, before Bad Omens threatened to blow the roof off The O2 before Bring Me… had even arrived. Frontman Noah Sebastian had 20,000 people bending to his will for the band’s entire set, with his piercing melodies and guttural growls cutting through crazed screams, tears and longing from fans. A band who have already developed a huge audience of their own, it’s hard not to picture their own headline show at this venue in the near future.

But when Bring Me The Horizon finally arrived, it was time for a show that proved why they’re constantly evolving and refusing to sit on their laurels.

Introduced by their EVE-IL avatar on the venue’s gigantic screens, the band burst onto the stage with ‘DArkSide’ and kicked off two hours of unbridled rock showmanship that celebrated their whole career. From 2008’s OG fan favourite ‘Diamonds Aren’t Forever’ to their newest single ‘Kool-Aid’, this was a true celebration of the story so far.

During the night the band were joined on stage by multiple special guests, including Rolling Stone UK’s very own cover star Yungblud for their collaborative song ‘Obey’ and Noah Sebastian from Bad Omens for ‘Antivist’.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Rolling Stone UK (@rollingstoneuk)

Not even a brief stop for security – who tended to an injured fan in the moshpit – could dampen the night. In fact, that moment saw Oli Sykes encouraging fans to make room so the fan could receive care.

Bring Me The Horizon finished their set with their ‘That’s The Spirit’ favourite ‘Throne’. “So you can throw me to the wolves, tomorrow I will come back, leader of the whole pack,” came Sykes’ fitting guttural howl.

After all, this is a band that has survived, evolved, beat the odds and kicked down doors in the rock and metal scene for the last 20 years. Now, they’ve truly taken their place at rock’s top table.

Bring Me The Horizon live review – London, Royal Albert Hall

Sheffield ragers bring me the horizon pull strings for the teenage cancer trust.

Bring Me The Horizon, live at London Royal Albert Hall

You can trust Louder Our experienced team has worked for some of the biggest brands in music. From testing headphones to reviewing albums, our experts aim to create reviews you can trust. Find out more about how we review.

After conquering Wembley Arena in 2014, and breaching the mainstream with last year’s That’s The Spirit , Bring Me The Horizon don’t have anything to prove, but tonight feels like raising the stakes.

This special, one-off show for the Teenage Cancer Trust has been masterminded by programming and keys man Jordan Fish, who has brought together classical musicians (the Parallax Orchestra and choir, conducted by Simon Dobson) to reimagine the quintet’s songs, S&M -style. They are going firmly out of their comfort zone, and in the UK’s most prestigious venue.

Strolling out in front of the 60 assembled musicians tonight, the band are dressed in matching black shirts, covering their tattoos and lending them a mature, uniform identity. Free from backdrops and effects, with crowds rising high on either side of the stage, they look small and exposed.

That is, until the music begins, the swelling strings of Doomed causing everyone to rise from their seats in excitement. Despite its ironic subject matter, Happy Song with a real choir is positively euphoric, prompting a wall of death and the first of many pits. It Never Ends is a frenzied, violin-led, pint-flinging riot, the floor literally bounces to the beat of Throne , and the voices opening Shadow Moses evoke a church-like reverence. These are truly heavy reinterpretations – strings and brass complementing guitars and bass. There are times when Oli doesn’t quite find his voice, but both choir and audience are on his side, always ready to sing along. Of course, everyone knows the bridge of Antivist , and there’s something satisfying about hearing the word ’Cunt!’ screamed inside a Victorian listed building.

Hairs on arms are already raised and emotions are already heightened when Oli pauses the show to remind everyone why they’re here, gesturing to a childhood friend in the crowd who’s overcome cancer. “Cancer is just a word – it’s not a fucking sentence,” the singer declares, to loud, football-style chants of: “Horizon, Horizon, Horizon.” There is a sense of everyone being on the same team, everyone uniting for a cause as well as in a love for music. And after closing songs Drown and Oh No , the chanting continues. “You’re gonna make me cry!” says Oli, but many in the crowd have beaten him to it.

Bring Me the Horizon, also known as BMTH, is a rock band from Sheffield, England. The band consists of Oliver Sykes as the lead vocalist, Lee Malia as the guitarist, Matt Kean as the bassist, Matt Nicholls as the drummer, and Jordan Fish as the keyboardist. They are signed to RCA Records worldwide and Columbia Records exclusively in the United States. Their debut album Count Your Blessings was released in 2006, which had a deathcore sound that received mixed reviews. However, their second album Suicide Season (2008) marked a creative, critical and commercial turning point for the band. Their third album, There Is a Hell Believe Me I've Seen It. There Is a Heaven Let's Keep It a Secret. (2010), propelled them to greater international fame by incorporating influences from classical music, electronica and pop. Their major label debut, Sempiternal (2013), achieved Gold certification in Australia and Silver in the United Kingdom. That's the Spirit (2015) debuted at number two in both the UK Albums Chart and the US Billboard 200. The band's sixth studio album Amo (2019) became their first UK chart-topper. The same year, they also released Music to Listen To... (2019). Post Human: Survival Horror followed in 2020, which is the first of four projects under the Post Human name. The band has also released two extended plays and two live albums. They have received four Kerrang! Awards, including two for Best British Band and one for Best Live Band, and have been nominated for two Grammy Awards. They have sold over 4 million records worldwide and have topped the UK Rock & Metal Singles Chart with songs such as "Throne", "Drown", "Mantra" and "Parasite Eve". The band's style has evolved from deathcore to a more melodically-oriented direction by combining their approach to metalcore with elements of electronica, pop and hip hop.

In pictures: Bring Me The Horizon’s epic show with Spiritbox in Las Vegas

Ahead of this weekend's Sick New World festival in Las Vegas – headlined by Slipknot and System Of A Down – Bring Me The Horizon thought they'd play a pair of warm-up shows in Sin City at the Fontainebleau theatre.

And last night (April 25), joined by their mates Spiritbox in support, the Sheffield heavyweights unleashed very much a forward-facing setlist that leant heavily into their POST HUMAN era – although they did find time for a crushing Diamonds Aren't Forever from Suicide Season.

In front of a capacity crowd, flanked by a church-like backdrop and stunning lightshow, it was proof that Bring Me The Horizon are still at the very top of their game and one of the greatest live bands on the planet right now. They're doing it all again tonight ahead of the nu-metal megafest.

Watch Bring Me The Horizon bring out Sleep Token’s IV for ‘Antivist’ in Australia

Sleep Token have been opening for Bring Me The Horizon on their current Australian tour

Oli Sykes of Bring Me The Horizon and IV of Sleep Token

Bring Me The Horizon brought out IV from Sleep Token to perform ‘Antivist’ during a show in Brisbane today (April 20).

  • READ MORE:  Bring Me The Horizon on love for Fontaines D.C. and when fans can expect the new album

The Sheffield metallers have been on tour in Australia with Sleep Token as main support, as well as Make Them Suffer and Daine .

During the show, the masked band’s guitarist joined Bring Me The Horizon for a special rendition of the 2013 hit where he got to take a more prominent role vocally. Although he isn’t Sleep Token’s main vocalist, he also provides additional screams.

Amusingly, it appears that frontman Oli Sykes performed the track wearing one of Sleep Token’s old masks, which IV himself was also wearing. Sleep Token unveiled new masks at their Wembley Arena show in December.

Check out fan-filmed footage of their performance of ‘Antivist’ below:

On the UK leg of Bring Me The Horizon’s ‘POST HUMAN: NeX GEn’ tour in January, they were joined by Noah Sebastian, the frontman of their support act Bad Omens, for ‘Antivist’. Meanwhile, for the Liverpool date and the second of two nights in London, Olli Appleyard of Static Dress – who were also opening for Bring Me The Horizon – guested on ‘Diamonds Aren’t Forever’.

In  a four-star review  of the tour’s opening night in Cardiff, NME  described the show as “a blistering comeback statement” that proved BMTH were “still at their best”.

The band’s guitarist Lee Malia has been absent for the duration of the tour as he is “taking some time out with the new addition to his family”.

In February, BMTH won the Best Alternative/Rock Act award at the BRITs 2024 .  Speaking to  NME  at the ceremony , the group gave an update on when fans could expect their delayed next album,  ‘POST HUMAN: NeX GEn’ .

“It’s nearly finished, but it’s not finished,” explained frontman Oli Sykes.

“Every time we think we’ve got it, we get another song. It’s going to be right good though, it’s our best album ever… Worth the wait.”

However, earlier this month, it appeared the release date was coming closer, when the band posted a clip confirming that “it’s time for a new era”. There has been speculation over potential collaborations with Underoath  and  Billie Eilish  on ‘POST HUMAN: NeX GEn’.
