What You Need To Know!
Please read before booking
Our farm tours are relatively simple:
Our tours involve riding or walking through hilly terrain, gravel pathways, or into pastures. Participants must be capable of navigating uneven terrain.
We have 7 different paddocks or fields that create a horseshoe shape. This gives our visitors the opportunity to see, and interact with the Scottish Highland cattle no matter what field they are occupying. Some of the fencing is electric, so please do not touch the wires.
During the winter/early spring months our weaning fields will be light. During the summer months adults are typically in the shade by 10am-4pm. To try and ensure you get the date you want, we recommend booking as soon as you can!
Payment is due at the time of booking online.
We do not have public restrooms. This is our personal farm, please be respectful in all areas.
Children aged 18 and under must be under the supervision of an adult.
The VIP experience tour is the only tour where we go inside any of the paddocks with our adult highlands. This is for the safety of both you and our Highlands.
On your tour, we will make every effort to let you feed treats to the cows, have hands on interaction with the calves *when available*, and take lots of selfies and videos. We cannot control the mood of the animals, so no guarantees on the level of interaction they will allow.
xpect to depart from this experience a bit disheveled, with traces of slobber on your pants, a smudge of poop on your shoes, and your heart brimming with affectionate memories!
Photos and videos doing our non-business tours are encouraged, for your enjoyment and personal use only. No commercial use. Selling any prints or digital files of any animals or area of Cyrus Ridge Farm property is strictly prohibited. We enjoy seeing our farm through your eyes, so don't forget to tag us in your shares!

Field Trips
The Gentle Barn teaches children about animals in a way that will change their perspective about themselves and the world around them. We want to show children that even though we all look different, we are all the same inside. Every living being has language and needs food, water, shelter, and love. Our programs follow the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) to make sure that we support teachers' curricula.
We teach the children a wide variety of things including what animals eat, where they sleep, how they have families, why roosters crow, why pigs love mud, why goats chew, and how each species communicates through body language. Here at The Gentle Barn, kids gain an understanding of animals, see how much we all have in common, and get to expand their empathy for all living beings.
After a presentation that is geared to age and grade level, the children get to brush the horses, hug the cows, give the pigs tummy rubs, talk to the turkeys, play with the goats and the sheep, and so much more. It is an educational, hands-on experience that they will never forget. Our school program is appropriate for kids K-12.

Words we live by, as farmers ..
These beliefs guide us day in and day out, from sunup to sundown. If you have a moment, please read. Who knows? Maybe they’ll inspire you to go out and live off the land like we do.
I believe a man’s greatest possession is his dignity, and that no calling bestows this more abundantly than farming.
I believe hard work and honest sweat are the building blocks of a person’s character.
I believe that farming, despite its hardships and disappointments, is the most honest and honorable way a man can spend his days on this earth.
I believe farming nurtures the close family ties that make life rich in ways money can’t buy.
I believe my children are learning values that will last a lifetime and can be learned in no other way.
I believe farming provides education for life and that no other occupation teaches so much about birth, growth, and maturity, in such a variety of ways.
I believe many of the best things in life are indeed free: the splendor of a sunrise, the rapture of wide-open spaces, the exhilarating sight of your land greening each spring.
I believe true happiness comes from watching your crops ripen in the field, your children grow tall in the sun, your whole family feel the pride that springs from their shared experience.
I believe that by my toil, I am giving more to the world than I am taking from it, an honor that does not come to all men.
I believe my life will be measured ultimately by what I have done for my fellowman, and by this standard I fear no judgment.
I believe when a man grows old and sums up his days, he should be able to stand tall and feel pride in the life he’s lived.
I believe in farming because it makes all this possible.
Cabot Creamery Co-op
Liberty Hill Farm is one of the voices representing the family farm owners of Cabot Creamery Co-operative. We take great pride in spreading the word about the great Cabot products to whoever will listen. Fortunately for us, the products speak for themselves. Cabot Cheddar Cheese has won every major award for taste and our Cabot Butter is a blue ribbon winner too.
Liberty Hill and Cabot Highlights Liberty Hill Farm participates in Cabot’s Open Farm Events held over the years and our story is available on Cabot’s website, among the online virtual farm tours . Beth and our cow, Larue, were featured in a Cabot Creamery Co-operative commercial that aired on TV. View the Hug a Farmer video here. In December 2013 Beth went with other Cabot Farmers on the Cabot Creamery Co-operative Gratitude tour in New York City to tout the Cabot goods—singing their praises from the rooftops!
The One & Only Robeth Holstein Herd Robeth —a combination of our first two names—is the coined prefix for our registered herd. Robeth Holsteins are known for their excellent genetics and have been honored with the Progressive Breeder Registry Award from the Holstein Association for the past 30 years. While the numbers vary, we generally have 320 head of animals all together: cows, calves and heifers, with 120 of those being the milking cows.
Good Cow Genes When we bought the farm from John Hunt, a premier dairy breeder in the 1920s and ’30s, he had a cow named Pearl—a direct descendent of the famous Maryland dairy herd named Dunloggin. Most of our current herd descends from Pearl. Our cows’ lineage has been traced back to the 1880s when they were imported from Holstein Friesland, an area between Germany and the Netherlands.

Baby Cow Cuddling is a great way to connect to, relax and love a baby cow. Cows are very sweet, affectionate animals that love to kiss and cuddle. Their heart rate is slower than humans, so it tends to help people relax. They love chin rubs. They will often chew their cud while they cuddle with you which is very calming. Cows do this when they are relaxed and happy. Animals have a gift to help humans relax and heal. Most people when in the presence of an animal, especially a new one, tend to be in the present moment - no worrying about anything and oxytocin is released which makes them feel good. Not only is cow cuddling fun, it is also healing and healthy. Age requirement is 7 and older. Thank you
Come enjoy a private session of baby goat and baby pig cuddling! They are both just a few weeks old and absolutely love attention! The baby goats love to jump on your back. When they get tired, they will fall asleep in your arms. The baby pigs will walk over to your lap and love to get belly rubs! It is so important for these babies to get love and attention.
Being with animals can help a child's self esteem and confidence. Taking part in feeding them can give them a sense of responsibility. Interacting with animals has been shown to decrease levels of cortisol (a stress-related hormone) and lower blood pressure. Other studies have found that animals can reduce loneliness, increase feelings of social support, and boost your mood.

Fulper Family Farmstead
Farm Fresh Dairy Products, Farm Events & Farm Adventures
Experience an Authentic Farm Tour
If you’ve never been to a working dairy farm you owe it to yourself – and your children – to visit one – before they are all gone. The family-run small dairy farm is a vanishing breed.
I spent some time recently at the Fulper Farm in West Amwell, NJ, a 5th generation modern dairy farm with 120 Holstein cows. The Fulper Farm is special in a lot of ways. It is over 100 years old, started by Mary Fulper, and it is still run by the family. Today Robert II and his brother, Fred, oversee the farm operations and Robert and his daughter, Breanna, a recent Cornell University graduate in animal science, manage the dairy products from the farm and agritourism. The farm is one of only 65 dairy farms left in New Jersey. Although they grow all their own feed and recently installed solar panels that power the whole farm, the economics of the modern dairy farm are difficult, affected by international commodity markets (corn, soybeans), the price of gas, economic growth in China and the current price of milk, among other things. Many dairy farmers are finding it hard to make a living.
But the Fulpers are proud of what they have created. Molly Pfaffenroth, the sales and marketing manager, gave me a tour of the farm. Pfaffenroth is also a Cornell graduate, and she is using her degree in animal science and communications to help more people to get to know the farm and its products. That’s the other special thing about the Fulper Farm. They are one of the very few dairy farms in this area to be selling fresh cheese products – mozzarella, ricotta, mozzarella string cheese (in two flavors: nigella seed and crushed red pepper and parsley), and yogurt and Greek Yogurt (plain and vanilla). Their cheese maker, Jack Torranto, makes the cheeses from the farm’s milk. You can buy the cheeses at the Stockton Market (Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, in Stockton, NJ), at the Stangl Factory Farmers’ Market (Saturdays, 9 am to 2 pm, in Flemington, NJ) and at the farm on Thursdays from 5 – 7 pm. In season, Fulper also sells its cheeses at eight farmers’ markets in NJ. Go online to their website for cheese pricing. You may also see their name on restaurant menus at Triumph Brewing Company and Hamilton’s Grill Room.
But back to the farm. How do you take care of 120 cows and numerous calves? And how do you do it in a sustainable way? The Fulpers have always improved their operations with new innovations and modern methods. They have received the Dairy of Distinction award, which recognizes dairy farms who have attractive, well-kept farms and promote a good dairy industry image. The cows are milked twice a day in a state-of-the-art milking parlor – once at 4:30 am and then again at 3:30 pm. They produce approximately 8000 lbs. of milk a day, most of which is sold to Dairy Marketing Services (“the milk truck”). Molly says a lot of their milk ends up in Wegmans supermarkets. The Fulpers grow their own hay, straw, corn and soybeans on 350 acres to feed the herd. On the remaining 850 acres they grow feed for other local farm animals and area farms. The cows and calves live a good life with plenty of fresh air and feed. The farm also has 0% run-off; all liquid manure is collected in a lagoon that is then used to fertilize the fields. Solid manure is used for cow bedding. Crop rotation and soil conservation practices are also used to treat the land well. In 2011 they installed solar panels on ¾ of an acre that provide all the power that the farm needs.
The farm, which is just minutes from Lambertville, NJ, is all about education too. “People don’t know how a dairy farm runs,” says Pfaffenroth. “Education is a very important aspect of what we do.” They are happy to provide tours to school children and adults alike. This month they celebrated their first Harvest Festival. They also offer a farm camp for kids in the summer, a one week experience of life on a dairy farm. Youth ages 8-13 can come out to the farm and take care of/wash/clip/lead their very own calf for the week. They also participate in farm chores, go on hayrides, and engage in all sorts of fun activities. They will have three 5-day sessions and two 3-day sessions this summer. (You can reach them at 609-651-5991 or [email protected] for more information).
Fulper Farm is located at 281 Rocktown Lambertville Road, Lambertville, NJ. Check out their website where you can also order products online. For general information, email [email protected]. For birthday parties, tours and summer camp, contact Breanna Fulper at [email protected] .

Farm Visits
Book a 90 minute visit to the farm!
Farm visits are self-guided explorations. Follow your interests and enjoy the farm at your own pace. A perfect family farm experience for all ages.
Each session includes:
feed for your new animal friends
access to the petting zoo pen
fishing access (bring your own rod, bait, and tackle)
What does a farm visit entail? We allow up to 30 guests on the farm at a time. If you're looking for a fully-private visit, we offer two-hour sessions starting at $300 for up to 20 guests (adults and children over 2 included). More information is available here.
Farm visits start with a safety orientation and include a bucket of feed for the animals. You'll get to explore our beautiful 17 acre property and spend time in our petting zoo. If you'd like to fish our pond, be sure to bring your rod, bait and tackle! Our floating dock is the perfect spot to cast off and spend some quality time.
What happens after we arrive? You'll check in with 1870 Farm staff at the farm stand in the parking lot. They'll give you the rundown of farm safety, as well as a feed bucket for the animals.
Are masks required?
Updated March 7, 2022 As of March 7, 2022, masks are optional outdoors.
Can I bring my pet?
We are big animal lovers here, but for the safety of all of our guests and our animals, we cannot allow personal pets on the farm.
Can I arrive early or stay late? Parking space on the farm is limited - please plan to arrive on the farm no more than 5-10 minutes ahead of your scheduled visit. For the same reason, we ask that you depart promptly when your scheduled visit time is over.
What should I wear when I visit the farm? We encourage you to dress in layers and take the day’s forecast into consideration. Prepare for the possibility of mud and a good amount of walking - the farm is as big as it is beautiful.
What's your weather policy?
Farm visits run rain or shine. In the event of severe weather, we are happy to rebook you for another date.
What animals do you have?
1870 Farm is home to a few different breeds of goats, sheep, alpacas, chickens and pigs. We also have ducks, rabbits, donkeys, a horse, llama, and miniature Highland cow. Our most famous resident is our farm cat, Meowstache.
Is photography allowed? Yes! Our animals are anything but camera shy. Some of them tend to think they're celebrities and we honestly can't argue that point.
Is it okay to bring food? We'd love to picnic on the farm! Absolutely! You are welcome to enjoy a picnic during your session on the farm. We have trash cans available to keep things tidy, and there are plenty of picnic tables available throughout the farm. Please note: for safety, we do not allow glass containers on the property.
What's the bathroom situation? We have a bathroom trailer conveniently located in the parking lot for easy access.

Plan Your Visit
Moo cow farms release of liability.
All participants are required to sign a waiver prior to entering the pasture. Failure to sign the waiver will result in you being denied entry. You may download the waiver by clicking the link above and bringing it with you the day of your visit or you may sign it upon your arrival.
NO SHOW POLICY
Unfortunately, we continue to have a large number of no shows and late cancellations so I am having to implement a new process effective August 2023. Out of respect for my time and others on the waiting list that could have visited during the time you were scheduled, if you do not cancel within 48 hours or are a no-show for your appointment, you will be removed from any further booking emails. If you wish to get back on the list to reschedule, you must pay a $25 rescheduling fee or half the cost of what your group would have been charged (i.e. an 8 person group at 50% cost would be a $40 rescheduling fee), whichever is more.
All interactive visits with the cows are by appointment only to ensure you get your own unique experience and the cows get some time to rest and relax throughout the day.
We are open year round but work full-time outside the farm so appointments are almost always in the evenings.
During the winter (October 1 – March 31), appointments typically will start around 5PM.
During the summer (April 1 – September 30), appointments may start anytime between 5PM and 7PM.
You can expect to spend 60-75 minutes visiting the farm.
Due to the open pasture nature of this experience, no other animals, including service animals of any kind will be allowed for a traditional visit in the pasture. If you have a service animal and wish to visit, please contact us and we can try to arrange a modified visit with one of the cows to give you a safe, personalized interaction. We want everyone to experience the joy of cuddling a cow safely but please recognize that we can’t always accommodate visits with a service animal, especially when there are new calves.
We are located in the heart of Simpsonville at the corner of Standing Springs Rd and Mosley Rd.
***NO TRESPASSING*** The fence is electrified when no one is on site. We don’t want any humans or cows to get injured!

Grass-fed beef, pastured pork, pastured chicken, pastured eggs, pastured turkey..
So You Want To Visit A Sustainable Farm
You are one in a million, a person wanting so much to understand food production that you’re willing to take time out to visit a local farm.
That is exciting, and we are honored to be able to show you our side of the story… the story of a really-pasture-raised, grass-centric, rotational-grazing Crazy Farm, right here in East Texas.
⇓⇓⇓⇓⇓⇓⇓ Keep Scrolling to Buy Tickets to This Season’s Tours! ⇓⇓⇓⇓⇓⇓⇓
We are a truly family-run farm, and pretty much all the time, all hands are on deck! But we feel it’s important to carve out some time each spring and fall to invite you, the consumer, to come and learn about a better way to eat.
What to Expect During Our Farm Tour
Our tours are fun, but a bit physically challenging! Wear comfortable, closed-toe walking shoes or boots, and be prepared to cover a good amount of East Texas pasture terrain while observing our methods for raising grass-fed-and-finished beef, rotationally-pastured meat chickens, really-pasture-raised hens, pastured pork, and if you’re especially lucky, you might get to meet our Thanksgiving turkeys and some baby calves and chicks!
Our tours are engaging and educational, and though you won’t get to touch any livestock, (Sorry! They’re not pets!) we do have some farm critters that love a good ear-scratching, such as our friendly farm dogs, Shadow and Long John, and our farm cats, Tiger, Sassy, Attila, and Boudica.
Depending on the particulars of the day you visit, you may get to experience a cow move, observe a poultry shelter move, gobble at the turkeys, toss some veggies to the pigs, and check out the forage crops we’ve planted for the season. This is a real working farm, so you never know exactly what a tour day will hold , but we get wonderful feedback from visitors to our tours, and we know you’ll enjoy it and learn a lot.
A Special Tour-goer Discount
After the tour ends, you are welcome to visit our new farm store. As a thanks for taking the time to come and learn more about your food source, farm tour attendees get 5% off their orders (regular-price in-store items only, and excludes bulk/case purchases, volume deals, and online orders). Bring a cooler along, or occasionally we have leftover shipping boxes you can have to transport your cold goodies home.
Arrival on Tour Day
Please arrive at least 10-15 minutes early to get settled in. When you arrive, park according to attendant’s instructions, then visit our check-in table to … check in! Ha! There, kiddos will receive their scavenger hunt materials and farm sticker for the classic and 2.0 tours, and we’ll check you off the attendance list so we can make sure everyone has arrived prior to setting out to pasture.
What to Bring / Amenities
We request that you plan to bring your own bottled water, but we will provide additional water for those who run out. We do have a restroom in our farm store. We suggest “going” before the tour begins, as we will be quite far from the facilities once we depart.
We strongly suggest dressing for the weather—our weather can go from quite cold to very hot in just an hour, and our hill here in East Texas tends to run a little cooler than surrounding areas–great for summertime tours! Wear a hat, breathable sleeves, and closed-toe shoes. We strongly suggest tall-sided boots to help deter fire ants, thorns, and mud.
You are welcome to bring a camera, but please try to point it away from any project messes you may see! Remember—we’re a real, working farm, and we always have more to do than time to do it! Feel free to tag us on Facebook or Instagram @Shady Grove Ranch.
Hazards and Our Expectations
Pretend you’re a farmer for a day, checking out the beauty of your workplace, but taking care while you do it! Please be mindful of pasture holes, electric fence, thornbushes, fire ants, large equipment, construction zones, and farm critters. We have several varieties of wildflower that have wicked but invisible thorns, so best practice is to ask before you pick! We want your first experience with us to be a wonderful and fun one!
We humbly but firmly ask that you inform your children of the expected behavior on a real farm. There are real dangers on a working farm, and it is important that we all be respectful of those as well as other people around us. Children (and adults) should not touch or enter without first being invited or instructed. Do not feed, pet, chase, grab, or shout at the livestock. Do not throw anything at any time. No smoking on the property is permitted at all. Please put your trash in the proper receptacle.
Advice for Bringing Children
Our terrain may be too difficult for most sidewalk strollers, but a large-wheeled jogging stroller or off-road wagon would be suitable to pull toddler-age children. For very young children, a backpack-style carrier can be a good option. For older children, remind them that God gave them two strong young legs to explore a beautiful farm with. Enjoy getting some exercise! We will also provide a farm scavenger hunt game for children to complete during their visit.
Weaker Walkers
We do not have vehicular transport during tours at this time. If you have issues walking long distances outdoors or up and down hills, our tours may not be a good fit at this time, but you are welcome to visit our farm store and enjoy some time on our large Texas-style porch where some rocking chairs are located. We have some comfortable chairs indoors in the A/C as well.
Purchase Your Tour Tickets Here
We now host ticket sales on our regular online store page. Use the big green button to hop over and view the current tour schedule and purchase your tickets!

Private tours are fully customizable–tell us what you’re interested in learning about, and we’ll cater to your interest areas and cap the length according to your budget needs. Cows are gentle giants and are as diverse in personality as cats, dogs, and humans! They display a full range of traits including boldness, shyness, sociability, and being temperamental. They are gregarious, preferring to spend their time with other cows, and they form complex relationships, much like dogs in packs. Animal behaviorists have found that cows interact in socially complex ways, developing friendships over time and sometimes holding grudges against other cows who treat them badly!
A cruel reality… In the U.S., more than 29 million cows suffer and die in the meat and dairy industries every year. Cows are clever and have been known to go to extraordinary lengths to escape from slaughterhouses. They mourn the deaths of and even separation from those they love, sometimes shedding tears over their loss. The mother/calf bond is particularly strong, and there are countless reports of mother cows who continue to call and search frantically for their babies after the calves have been taken away and sold to veal or beef farms.

One-Time Monthly
Safe Haven experienced a huge surprise on June 23rd 2022 when one of our rescued cows, Flo, gave birth to a beautiful, bouncing baby boy! Introducing Cole! We welcomed his mother Flo to our sanctuary in February when she was rescued from a dairy farm where she sustained a serious foot injury and was considered no longer of use. Little did we know, she was pregnant! Seeing Cole with his mama Flo is a delight, and Flo is now an ambassador for all cows that never get the opportunity to raise their babies.
Ebb was a dairy cow until she arrived at Safe Haven in November 2021. Until then, Ebb had spent her life on a dairy farm. She was routinely artificially inseminated, gave birth to a baby, then had that baby taken from her after giving birth so she could produce milk for human animals to consume.
Thankfully, someone reached out to us on Ebb’s behalf and we began preparations to welcome her to her new home. She is enjoying the freedom of choosing when to rest, when to explore, when to eat and when to snuggle up with her new cow family.
Ebb is very gentle and vocal and she is always looking for attention. She loves the daily treat we give her. She has a good big sister in Surprise who always gives her space to eat hay.
Flo was living on a dairy farm where she sustained an injury to her foot which resulted in a severe limp. This physical challenge meant that Florence would no longer be impregnated and having no babies meant she could no longer produce milk. To the dairy industry, Flo served no purpose and had no value. She was considered a liability and was scheduled for slaughter. We are grateful we can provide this sweet, gentle girl with her forever home. Click here to watch Florence’s arrival in February 2022 and the warm, friendly welcome she received from her new family – cows and humans alike.
Flo required several vet visits to address her foot. The vet sanded and scraped the layers of dirt and debris off the bottom of her hoof as well as a few small pebbles that were embedded in her foot. As he continued the process, he uncovered a serious hoof abscess. He packed the whole area with cotton covered with zinc sulfate to help draw out the infection and then glued a wood piece to the bottom of her good claw (the vet term for each of the two parts of a cow’s hoof) so she could walk without pressure on the infected foot. Flo was grossly underweight when she arrived and we provided her with extra grain and hay to ensure that she gets to a healthy weight.
In June of 2022, we had a huge surprise when Flo gave birth to Cole! Unbeknownst to us, she was pregnant when she arrived at our sanctuary. Flo is curious, people-friendly, and quite caring towards all of the babies who are now members of our sanctuary family. She is an ambassador for all cows who never get to raise their babies, nurture them and experience the precious bond between mother and child.
This precious calf was born on August 19, 2021 on a dairy farm in Vermont. Luke is a Jersey calf which is a breed of dairy cattle raised primarily for milk production. He was torn from his mother moments after birth and was destined for slaughter. This is the cruel reality of the dairy industry. Male calves serve no economic purpose to dairy farmers. A young intern working at the dairy farm experienced the treatment of calves for the first time. She desperately wanted to save this baby. She sent emails to as many places as possible trying to find him a home where he could live a happy peaceful life.
Luke was just a couple of weeks old when he arrived at Safe Haven. We are grateful Luke found a safe place to land at our sanctuary. Our staff welcomed him with open arms and an abundance of love. It is our privilege to provide him with a lifelong home and surround him with the care and respect he deserves. He is a very spunky fellow and is thoroughly enjoying his freedom. He gleefully runs around his pasture! Luke is incredibly friendly and always intrigued by what his human friends are doing! He has developed a deep bond with another rescued calf at Safe Haven named Romeo. They enjoy their days happily exploring and playing together. In the evening, they are cuddle buddies and sleep peacefully knowing they are by each other’s side.
Romeo has faced some significant adversity in his young life. He was born 4 weeks premature and was too small to nurse and too weak to stand. He was tube fed with love and received medical care from a compassionate person intent on saving as many bull calves as possible. Having an underdeveloped immune system, Romeo also suffered a chronic umbilical cord infection. When he was well enough to travel, his temporary caretaker brought him to Safe Haven. When Romeo arrived at the sanctuary in September of 2021, he weighed just 50 pounds. He is in a safe place and receiving all the medical treatment and nutrition he needs to recover. The sweet heart shape on his forehead makes us melt every time we see this precious fella. He is surrounded by mega doses of love and affection from our dedicated staff.

In late summer of 2020, Safe Haven was contacted by a compassionate individual about two calves born on a dairy farm in need of rescue. Male calves born on dairy farms are torn from their mothers on the first day of life and almost immediately sent to slaughter. Not being able to produce milk, they are called “waste product” and viewed as having no value. Like animals of all species, cows form strong maternal bonds with their calves, and on dairy farms, mother cows can be heard frantically crying out for their calves for several days after they have been separated.
We can’t rescue them all but we had the privilege of helping these two calves – the first cows to call Safe Haven home!
We welcomed Owen (left) and Matteo (right) to our sanctuary in September. They are safe and sound and feeling the love every day from our devoted staff.
Ethel & Surprise
In October of 2020, we brought Ethel and her daughter Surprise home to Safe Haven. Tragically, a man who had been caring for these two cows recently passed away after a terminal illness. His wife could not keep up with his care, their cows’ care and the staggering mountain of medical bills from a flawed medical system. She had to make the heartbreaking decision to sell their land and rehome their beloved cows.
Ethel (right) and Surprise (left) are 18 and 11 years old respectively, and are fiercely bonded. Surprise can often be seen licking her mother’s face with affection and adoration.

Meet the Cows - Dairy Farm Tour
Happy Cows make Udderly Delicious Cheese – and now you can finally meet the fabulous “ladies” who provide the milk for our award-winning cheese. During your dairy tour – you’ll also have the chance to observe our robotic milking system – one of the first installed in the Western USA. This unique system allows our cows to be milked “by choice” – whenever they feel the need, up to five times a day. In addition, you’ll love the birdseye view of the barn from our second-floor public observation deck – you’ll get to see just how cows “chillax” when they’re not grazing in the pastures.
Daily hayride to the milking barn departs at 11:00 am sharp.

Barn fire in Coopersville sets hundreds of cows loose
COOPERSVILLE, Mich. — A barn fire in Coopersville sent animals fleeing and pulled in help from everyone in the area Wednesday night.
The Coopersville/Polkton Area Fire and Rescue Department were leading the scene along 56th Avenue, south of Roosevelt St., with Ottawa County Sheriff's Office assisting.
At first, Fox 17 was told there were about 500 cows loose and/or in danger, but Ottawa County Deputies updated us around 3:30 a.m. saying many were rescued and rounded up by first responders, employees, and people in the area who'd stop to help.
Five other fire departments responded; Wright/Tallmadge, Allendale, Ravenna, Moorland, and Chester Fire Departments, along with LIFE EMS.
No injuries have been reported. Emergency crews were investigating the possibility of gas tanks inside the barn, but the cause has not been made public.
