We’re looking for dedicated individuals to join our Security team as Security Officer.   

The Security Officer role will be a vital piece to overview the vessel security team and to ensure that all aspects of Company’s Occupational Health and Safety (Oh&S) Policy and Procedures are effectively applied during working activities onboard.  

As part of a part of our Security Team, you will be person assigned to perform all necessary duties assigned by Ship’s Command and/or Chief Security Officer to maintain security and discipline throughout the ship.  

• Implementation of the measures as per Ship Security Plan (SSP) and international, national, corporate and company requirements and the orders of the direct superiors  
• Support the Ship Security Officer (SSO)/Chief Security Officer in delivering of security related familiarization for all crew and for personnel with designated security duties  
• Performing frequent security assessments, including the revision of the SSP (in liaison with the SSO)  
• Undertaking regular security inspections of the ship to ensure that appropriate security measures are maintained  
• Conducting of crime prevention and any crime scene management / investigation on board the ship according to company regulations  
• Management of the security filing system  
• Coordination of the Security Team for daily routine operations  
• Ensuring the proper operation, testing and maintenance of the security equipment  
• Planning and execution of security drills and security exercises  
• Point of contact for port security personnel / security authorities, acting as first first responder in case of physical conflicts and leader of the Active Assailant Response Team, in case of threats involving an armed assailant  
• Responsible for the master key management and responsible for the gangway security set-up and ensuring the standard quality of the security screening, both onboard and shore side  
• Performing body check of persons by using the AMD, HHDM and physical search techniques, responsible for baggage / luggage search / screening at the ships entrances by X-Ray or other means  
• Keeping up good communication and transparency between TMs onboard the ship  
• Any additional assignment at discretion of Captain and/or Chief Security Officer  

Undergo assigned trainings to develop skills & knowledge for the future positions.

Report any equipment malfunction, difficulties & concerns to the supervisor on duty.

Follow additional duties, other than listed in the job description, assigned by management due to the operational needs/shortages/changes.

Ensure beverage stations are full at all times and cleaned daily.

Engage in light conversations with guests always greet them with a smile.

You should have at least 2-4 years of experience in a similar role.

Advanced level proficiency in English is required.

Customer service experience gained in a similar role is required.

You must pass a Seafarers Medical Fitness Examination.

You focus on continuous improvement and collaboration.

Security officer.

Job Description: Responsible for implementing the ship’s security policies and procedures; Train personnel in gangway and security duties; Accident investigation.

Experience and Skills Required: Post secondary education in maritime security; Knowledge of disciplinary procedures, drug trafficking, anti-terrorist tactics, interview techniques, and accident prevention; Managerial experience preferred; Previous shipboard security experience preferred.

Average Salary: $4,000 to $7,000 per month

Security Petty Officer

Other Job Titles: Deputy Security Officer; Security Supervisor

Job Description: Assists Security Officer; Supervises all entry points of the ship; Supervises security personnel.

Average Salary: $1,500 to $3,500 per month

Security Crew

Other Job Titles: Security Patrolman

Job Description: Duties include securing all entry points of the ship; Screen all crew and guests as they return to ship; Perform duties as directed by Security Officer and Security Petty Officer.

Experience and Skills Required: Previous shipboard security experience preferred.

Average Salary: $1,000 to $1,500 per month

Youth Security Officer

Job Description: Monitor wandering and loitering minors; Monitor bar entrances for underage guests.

Keeping problems to a minimum, and even eliminating them before they start is the job of the Security Officer. They provide security for the ship, crew, and passengers, as well as for the property on board.

The Security Officer is given a Security Plan and is responsible to ensure that all aspects of it are strictly followed. In carrying it out, they will:

• Investigate incidents or accidents and create detailed reports of the results.
• Be thoroughly informed of the safety systems and role during emergencies.
• Create list of all crew members authorized to use the gangplank while in port – with Customs & Immigration information.
• Make regular security inspections around the ship, ensuring security of ship’s stores and cargo.
• Train new deputies of their responsibilities.

A candidate for this position needs to have a minimum of four years in police or military training. They must also have a certificate in Safety and other ones as required, and firearms training. Training in screening technology is also necessary, along with training to detect IED threat.

Security Officer Job Description and Duties:

The main responsibility of the Deputy Security Officer is to control and supervise all points of entry to the cruise ship - gangways and tender docking stations. Other duties include, but are not limited to:

- Reports to the Chief Security Officer and to the Staff Captain

- Responsible for direct supervision and on-the-job training of all subordinate security staff aboard the vessel

- Enforces Captain's standing orders and company's rules and regulations aboard the ship - crew members curfew (if applicable), dress code, proper behavior etc.

- Performs security and safety inspections of the ship on regular basis in order to ensure that appropriate security measures are maintained and all safety equipment is in proper working condition

- Coordinates the ship security measures with the local port security personnel at the various ports of call

- Conducts and supervises random and scheduled searches of crew cabins and around the ship as directed by the Chief Security Officer and the Staff Captain

- Responsible for authorization and issuing of visitor's passes and ensuring that all visitors have left the vessel on time

- Responsible for supervising the search and screening of crew and guests luggage during embarkation and disembarkation of the vessel

- Performs security related briefings and training of all newly joined crew and staff members

- Schedules regular meetings with the heads of the various shipboard departments to discuss security related issues

- Makes sure that all applied security measures and precautions do not interfere with the normal operation of the vessel and cause a minimum discomfort to guests

Deputy Security Officer Job Requirements:

Must hold Basic Safety Course Certificate and appropriate licenses and certificates

Candidates must posses intermediate to advanced level training in all aspects of security, military or police background is preferred

Completion of a recognized security officer course is required

Experience as a Security Officer or Security Guard aboard passenger vessels is preferred, but not required

Very good verbal and written command of the English language

Conflict resolution, coaching, decision making and team building skills

Ability to work in mutlicultural environment

Deputy Security Officer Salary Range:

$2200 to 3800 U.S. per month depending on the cruise line. Possibilities for promotion to Chief Security Officer position.

Casino dealer

Working as a dealer at a cruise casino can be an exciting gig. These workers may oversee poker, blackjack, roulette, and more games.

Hair/makeup artist

On cruise ships, hair and makeup artists may work in spas, providing services to guests looking to get pampered while on board, and may be needed to work with the ship’s performers.

The BLS groups barbers, hairstyles, and cosmetologists together and states an average of $33,400 annual salary for these workers.

Some cruise ships also hire nurses to provide care to passengers and cruise staff.

The amount of money nurses make on average usually depends on the type of nurse. Registered nurses (RNs) make $81,220 annually. Licensed practical nurses (LPNs) make $54,620 a year.

Massage therapist

Many cruise passengers opt to take advantage of spa services. Massage therapists may work in a spa or travel to guests’ rooms with their equipment to provide massages.

Licensed massage therapists make just under $49,860 annually on average.

The average salary for security guards is $33,030 annually.

Eating often and well is a big draw for many cruise passengers. Ships often have several restaurants on board and employ experienced servers to staff them.

Pay for these workers can vary, depending on the cruise line’s tipping policy. The average salary for a server in the U.S. is $29,120 annually.

Sales associate

Part of the beauty of the typical cruise ship is that it’s kind of like a floating mall, filled with gift shops and retail stores galore. Ships often need many sales associates to staff these stores.

Again, depending on the cruise line and the job, the pay for these gigs may vary. However, BLS data puts the average salary for a retail sales worker at $30,750 annually.

That’s not huge money, but perhaps it's enough for students to get ahead financially during breaks between school years.

Bottom line

Working as a cruise crew member is certainly not for everyone — lodging for staff can be cramped, days can be long, and you might be away from home for weeks at a time.

Moscow is a Volga River cruise port, Russia's capital and largest city (population over 12,2 million, metro 17 million). Moscow City covers a total area of approx 2610 km 2 (970 mi2). According to Forbes 2013, Moscow has been ranked as the 9th most expensive city in the world by Mercer and has one of the largest urban economies, being ranked as an alpha global city according to Globalization and World Cities Research Network. Moscow is the northernmost and the coldest megacity and metropolis on the Earth. It's home to Ostankino Tower, the tallest free-standing European structure; the Federation Tower, the tallest European skyscraper; and the Moscow International Business Center. 

Moscow is situated on Moskva River in the Central Federal District of European Russia, which makes it the most populated inland city in the world. Moscow city is well known for architecture, particularly its historic buildings like Saint Basil's Cathedral. With over 40% of its territory covered by greenery, it's one of the greenest capitals and major cities in Europe and the world. Moscow is the seat of power of the Russian Government, being the site of Moscow Kremlin, a medieval city-fortress that is now the residence of the President of Russia. Moscow Kremlin and Red Square are among the several World Heritage Sites in the city. 

Moscow has 2 passenger terminals, North River Terminal (Rechnoy vokzal) and South River Terminal. The regular ship routes and cruises along Moskva and Oka rivers are used mostly for entertainment. North River Terminal (1937-built) is currently the main hub for long-range routes along the river. There are 3 freight ports that serve Moscow.

In late-July 2021 the city announced plans to incorporate a fleet (unspecified number) of fully electric passenger ferries into its public transportation network from summer 2022, the goal being to reduce the dependence on cars.

• The boats are designed with length ~22 m (72 ft), passenger capacity 42, modern amenities (Wi-Fi, USB charging points, tables for working commuters), spaces for storing scooters and bicycles.
• Moscow Transport confirmed that two routes (with max daily capacity ~16,000 passengers) have already been mapped out.
• Passengers will be able to pay via bank cards, the city’s Troika card (smart card for travel by any public transportation) or biometric payment cards. Those with monthly/yearly public transit tickets will use the boats at no extra cost.
• The new electric ferry service is up to 5 times faster (in comparison to other city public transports) and ~2 times faster than by car.

Moscow cruise terminal

Moscow's cruise terminal is called North River Terminal or River Station  ("Rechnoy Vokzal" / "речной вокзал").

The terminal was opened in 1937 and is one of 2 passenger terminals (the other being South River Terminal) of the city's river transport. North River Terminal is the main hub for long-range (including cruise) shipping routes.
