Damien Rice returns to Bangkok this June

The Irish folk singer-songwriter will perform on June 6 in Bangkok’s Union Hall as part of his Asian tour.

Seven years after he last performed in Thailand, Damien Rice will come back to Bangkok as part of his Asian tour.

The 49-year-old songwriter will bring his melancholic folk balladry on June 6, 2023 at Bangkok’s Union Hall.

Fans can expect his popular and emotionally intense songs such as “The Blower’s Daughter,” and “Cannonball,” as well as new hits like “The Greatest Bastard,” and “I Don’t Want To Change You” from new album  My Favorite Faded Fantasy.

The news was announced yesterday by concert promoter Viji Corp, who also booked Rice’s last performance in Thailand on June 2, 2016.

Tickets go on sale March 10 via Ticketmelon , and are available in arranged seats at THB1,900, THB2,500, and THB3,000.

Rice began his career as a member of 1990s rock group Juniper. After leaving the band in 1998, Rice worked as a farmer in Tuscany and busked throughout Europe before returning to Ireland in 2001 to launch a solo career.

Musician You Need to See Live in Concert

Damien George Rice is an Irish musician and singer-songwriter. He began his career as a member of the 1990s rock group Juniper, who were signed to Polygram Records in 1997. The band enjoyed moderate success in Ireland with two released singles, “The World is Dead” and “Weatherman”.

Damien Rice (born December 7, 1973) is an Irish singer-songwriter. He was born in Dublin, Ireland, to George and Maureen Rice and was raised in Celbridge, County Kildare, Ireland. In March 1999 Damien moved to Tuscany, then travelled around Europe, busking the streets. He arrived back in Dublin a year later, with a clear head and full of ideas. Damien started playing and recording music with his first band, Juniper. After a few years he decided creatively it was not for him so he left the band (Newly named Bell X1) to start a solo career.

He approached his music with a new found freshness and decided to put some songs down on record.

Damien Rice announces comeback with 2023 UK and European tour

The Irish singer-songwriter, who last released an album in 2013, also shared a preview of a new song

Damien Rice has announced his comeback with details of a 2023 UK and European tour – see the list of dates below and buy tickets here .

The Irish singer-songwriter last released an album nine years ago with ‘My Favourite Faded Fantasy’ , which itself came eight years after its predecessor, 2006’s ‘9’.

After playing a series of gigs in 2019, Rice will head to mainland Europe and the UK next March and April for his first gigs since the pandemic.

The tour begins on March 15 in Manchester at the O2 Apollo, with a London show at Hammersmith Apollo the following night.

European gigs in Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin and more will then follow, before the tour wraps up in Zagreb on April 2.

Tickets for the tour go on sale on Friday, December 2 at 9am GMT. Buy your tickets for the UK gigs here then and see the full list of Damien Rice’s new tour dates below.

Rice hasn’t released any new music alongside the announcement of the tour dates, but promised that “more dates [are] coming soon” and shared a teaser of him performing a new song and confirmed that new music is set to be arriving.

Speaking in 2013 about the time taken between 2006’s ‘9’ and and its follow-up, Rice said: “Sometimes you have to step away from what you love in order to learn how to love it again.”

Speaking of recording with Rick Rubin in both Los Angeles and Iceland, he added: “I came to Rick mostly based on what I didn’t know about him, rather than what I did.

“For some reason I just had a feeling that I would feel comfortable being open and being me and being vulnerable with Rick.”

There are 2 websites that I came across - (a) https://russiacitypass.com/en/moscow and (b) https://moscowpass.com. It seems to me like the first site is official but I'm not 100% sure.

1) Has anyone tried purchasing their pass from the website (b)?

2) Websites (a) and (b) have varied amounts for 3 day passes. Website (a) quotes $83/- and website (b) quotes $56. I'm tempted to get the $56/- one (obviously! :), but I also want to make sure that I get it from a legitimate site. If it isn't, I can always get it from (a).

Let me know your thoughts.
