Absolutely incredible!! Khalid was only my second concert ever and it has inspired me to see as many as I can. It felt like every song was played at 250% and it sounded incredible. The band was phenomenal and I could really feel the music. The crowd was happy and everyone was having a good time. I'd see him again if I could.

Absolutely the best concert I was ever at, honestly I don't think any other artist could top this. She had such an incredible presence on stage, every eye was on her and her wonderful team. Dua and her dancers moved gracefully and fluidly, with bursts of power and energy. Her vocals were insanely beautiful, every word was sung with such passion and love. Her grand finale of IDGAF and New Rules was simply amazing, with breathtaking choreography and stunning visuals behind her. The band sounded great and the backup vocalists and dancers were on point for every minute. Without a doubt in my mind it was the very best live performance I have ever seen, and I don't think anything in the future will ever compare to it. Dua Lipa, Olympia Theatre, Dublin. Monday 9th April 2018.

Julia Jacklin

Julia’s assertive charm comes across in both her music and her on stage presence, the only difference being she is funnier in between her songs in which she contemplates what it means to be a woman viewed through her own lens, that of the men she’s loved, and of a perspective that shift as time goes on. Her voice is powerful and note perfect and especially enjoyable when she closed the show with an April Lavigne cover.

alexandra-rocheste-1’s profile image

What can I say? This woman is simply a force of nature. Her sheer energy just washes over the crowd. So much positivity, and talent! That voice, the moves, the smile. Do yourself a favor and go see her show!

Maggie Rogers

I'm so glad I got to see her in a small venue; what a magical and powerful experience. This girl radiates happiness and joy and on top of all of that, she sounds great live! There was confetti, a disco ball, Neil Young, and lots of dancing. I don't think it would have had the same effect in a large or open space, definitely jump on any chance you have to see her before she really blows up! So much love!

The War on Drugs

Grace is a highly underrated quality for a rock band to possess. When compared to other, more universal assets like rawness, volume and ability it might seem a little forgettable, but a band playing to the absolute best of their ability and making it look as natural as breathing can be the genesis of some truly unforgettable moments of live music. Not one band that I’ve seen sums this sight up as well as Philadelphia indie rockers The War on Drugs, and when it comes to their sold out show at the Koko, Camden’s most ornate venue, most traditional phrases describing a well played gig seem too violent to sum it up. They didn’t “smash it”, they didn’t “blow the roof off”, they didn’t “destroy the place”, they were far better than that. Make no mistake, Adam Granduciel and co played up a storm, their psychedelia inflected country-rock filling every inch of this beautiful venue but the atmosphere was unlike any gig I’ve been to in a very long time. The crowd lost themselves in the music in a way that didn’t lead to mindless moshing and crowd-surfing, the 1400 people were enraptured, moved by the music, not to the music. It was an experience as beautiful as it was exciting and anyone with a passing interest in this life affirming lunacy we call Rock and Roll should seek it out as soon as possible.

Music artists

For new users looking to follow their favorite bands and performers, our Artists pages are often the best place to start.

Whether you're on our site, or using our free app for iPhone and Android, the Songkick artists search engine is the fastest and simplest way to keep track of who's doing what right now. Be the first to learn which acts are touring, when they might be playing a venue near you, and how to get tickets for any future shows you like the sound of.

Looking to discover someone new? Hey, you’re our kind of music fan. That's why we've also included upcoming Live Stream Concerts alongside our artist searches, meaning you can easily schedule a more casual drop-in from the comfort of your couch.

Since launching our first app back in 2007, you guys - the fans, the concert-goers, the musical explorers - have been at the very heart of everything we do here. Our dream and our drive was always to bring Songkick members closer than ever before to the sounds they love, and the people who create them. Simply put, we pride ourselves on being your direct link to the greatest music artists on the planet.

Who are they, exactly? Well, according to our members, that changes almost by the hour...so let's talk about how Songkick keeps you in the loop.

Best live artists

A quick glance at our Most Popular Artists chart might tell you a few key things about the sorts of music fans we vibe with. For starters, it shows just how varied our members' tastes are. Pop, rock, dance, hip-hop, indie/alt and R&B all feature heavily, alongside a whole bunch of underground genres and rising scenes.

No two of you are quite the same - and frankly, we love to see it! Any time you check in, our 'most popular artists worldwide' and 'trending artists this week' leaderboards always read like a line-up for the greatest, most diverse live festival on Earth.

Among the top searches and best-selling music artists on our global roster, you might find anyone from Rhianna, Coldplay, Eminem and Ed Sheeran, through to Drake, U2, Kanye West,

Maroon 5, Beyoncé, The Midnight, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Taylor Swift, Calvin Harris, Imagine Dragons, Justin Bieber - and that's barely looking outside the top 20.

After all, if the weekly race for a spot on our most popular charts tells us anything, it's that the whole concept of 'best live bands' is a tricky one to pin down. Everybody's looking for a completely different type of experience, every night of the year.

That's another thing we love about our users: you're incredible at keeping us on our toes. In return, we’ve made it our mission to help keep you on yours.

Find and follow your favorite artists on Songkick

When people talk about the 'best live bands in the world', a few big names will reliably come up time and time again. Just as crucially, there'll always be a good handful of newcomers, hot tips and total curveballs in there too.

For us and our members alike, that's a huge part of what keeps the live concert scene so fresh and exciting. There's nothing quite like the thrill of discovering a new favorite artist you'd previously never even heard of - and when that discovery involves a performer blowing you away with an incredible live show or streamed concert, the feeling is enhanced tenfold.

Songkick started out with the goal of helping you capture that moment as often as possible. Now, more than a decade into this, it's 100% what we're still about today.

New members visiting our site or downloading the app can use our powerful search tools to stay ahead of the game. Simply log in with a user profile to keep tabs on more than 6 million bands, shows, festivals and live streams. Artists Who Are Going On Tour In 2024: The Rolling Stones, Drake, Olivia Rodrigo & More

The year is just getting started, but 2024 is already stacked with exciting tours. Open up your calendar and start planning with this sprawling list of announced 2024 tours.

Just a couple of years ago, live music still looked uncertain — would variant X, Y or Z derail the train for the umpteenth time? But in that regard, 2023 felt almost totally in the clear — and that's why it feels like the rubber band is stretched back for 2024, and it's ready to launch.

Sure, compiling every musical act who's touring in 2024 might be impossible. But GRAMMY.com's stylistic purview is far and wide: country, hardcore, soul, R&B, rap, indie rock, you name it. As such, we're giving it our best shot — and will continue to update the list as more tours are announced.

Without further ado, here's a major cross section of the 2024 touring landscape as currently announced — from Alvvays to Adam Ant , from Def Leppard to Danny Brown.

Chappell Roan's Big Year: The 'Midwest Princess' Examines How She Became A Pop "Feminomenon"

Just after Chappell Roan made her festival debut at Coachella, hear from the pop starlet about some of the defining moments of her career thus far — and how it all helped earn her a spot at one of music's biggest fests.

Before this year, Chappell Roan had never even been to Coachella. Now, not only can she say she's attended — she's performed in the desert, too.

Roan played an evening set on the Gobi Stage on April 12, and is set to return for Weekend 2. Fans clad in everything from cowboy boots, Sandy Liang-inspired bows and, perhaps most importantly, jorts, gathered to celebrate their shared love of Roan's radiance, karmic kink and gay cowgirl doctrine.

Throughout her performance, bubbles breezed through the air as Roan belted out her infectious (and aptly titled) track "Femininomenon," which speaks to lover girls forced to live in an online-dating hellscape. "Ladies, you know what I mean?/ And you know what you need and so does he/ But does it happen? No!" Following collective screams of pure joy, the already enlivened crowd roused to match Roan beat-for-beat, shouting back in perfect unison, "Well, what we really need is a femininomenon!"

In an era of bedroom pop and sad-girl music, Roan has been hailed by both critics and fans for bringing fun back to pop music. Along with her staunch sense of self, Roan's penchant for explicit lyrics that are equally parts introspective and horny makes her dance-pop anthems all the more infectious.

Roan's ambitiously experimental debut album, 2023's The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess , cemented her status as one of the most exciting pop stars on the rise. While she only recently landed her first single on the Billboard Hot 100 with "Good Luck, Babe!," her rapidly growing fan base — and an opening slot on Olivia Rodrigo's sold-out GUTS World Tour — indicate that she's on her way to superstardom .

Perhaps part of Roan's magic is that it was all on her own terms. After parting ways with her first label, Atlantic Records, she built a loyal following as an independent artist before signing with Island Records last year. Even as a major label artist, she's determined to only do things her way; her indefatigable commitment to her craft — as well as writing her own rules when it comes to fashion and makeup — is precisely why her fans are so enraptured by both her music and persona.

Her fearlessness was on full display during her first Coachella set, where the words emblazoned on her bodysuit read "Eat Me." She talks the talk, and walks the walk (in fabulous, knee-high boots, of course), matching her unabashed aesthetic with equally bold career moves; for one, the openers for her headlining tour are local drag queens.

With eyeliner winged to the heavens, near-perfect vocal stability and fiery curls ablaze, Roan's shimmering Coachella Weekend 1 performance proved that her stage presence is equally dynamic. And if she had any doubters, she had one thing to say to them: "B—, I know you're watching!"

In between rehearsals for her Coachella debut, Roan took a look back on her journey to one of music's most coveted stages. Below, hear from Roan about five of the most impactful milestones in her career — so far.

Releasing Her Debut Album, The Rise And Fall Of A Midwest Princess

I ended up signing [with Island Records in 2023] because this project honestly got too big to be independent anymore. I just wasn't willing to give up anything, any creative control or for any amount of money.

Being an independent artist was really special because I proved to myself that I could do all these hard things that I had never done. I built it with an entire friend group and many, many years of work. So it wasn't just me, but it proved a lot to me.

It proved I can make it through hard circumstances — with no money. You truly can. You do not need a label to do a lot of what an artist's career requires. You don't need a label to put on your own show, or make a music video, or even write a song, or find creative people. You don't need that s—t. I mean, a label is just money, you know? You don't need a lot of money to do this. To make it grow is, I think, where it takes a lot of money. That's what was difficult.

Music allows me to express anything, even things that I've never experienced before. It allows me to express queerness, even if it was only daydreams at that point. It allows me to express parts of me that I'm not even ready to accept yet.

I don't give a f— if you don't  f— with the music. You don't have to come to the concert. That's the whole point of it. You don't have to like it. I think throughout the year, I'm like, "What can I get away with?" Because right now it's pretty tame for what it is like to be a gay artist. But I just want to push it to see how far can I go — with the most controversial outfits or things to rile people up. I'm not really afraid to do that.

Having a song [like "Casual] with the lyric, "Knee deep in the passenger seat/ And you're eating me out," and it's being considered to go to radio. That's kind of a big thing to get away with.

It's not even that big of a thing. What's that song? Is it Flo Rida ? That's like, "Can you blow my whistle, baby/ whistle baby." Okay, that's obviously about like a f—ing blowjob. [ Laughs .] No one cares about that. To me, I'm like, Let's talk about eating out on the radio . I actually think it has to be bleeped, but still, if I can get away with it, that's cool.

Feeling Financial Freedom & Stability

Not making money at all just sucked. But I learned how to do my own makeup and bedazzle and sew a little bit. I think that the scrappiness came from [the idea that] it's scrappy if it's fun.

I think that's what kept me going — because if this wasn't fun, I would not even be here. But it was scrappy and fun, and it was with my friends. It didn't feel dire. I was also just working at a coffee shop, and I was a nanny, and I was working at a donut shop. I was doing part time jobs all on the side too. So it was all just rough [in the beginning].

I have freedom because now [singing] is my full-time job. It provides for me now. As the project grows, I can do bigger shows and be like, I want outfit changes now , and I want more lights, and I want confetti . I can afford confetti now!

It's about expanding the universe in a thoughtful way. And not just like throwing a s— ton of money at things to make things look expensive or wear all this designer s— for no reason.

I just try to look at how we are starting to gain momentum financially and see how can I intentionally use that to, one, pay the team in a way where they're not bare bones anymore, and two, [ask ourselves] how can we honor this project and this album and the queer community? Can we pay drag queens more? Can we bring drag on the road? Now, financially, doors have opened where we can walk through them with love and intention. Just recklessly, throwing money at s— to see if it works.

Opening Olivia Rodrigo's Arena Tour

Olivia [Rodrigo] just asked. It was official, we went through our management. But I was like, Oh my God .

Preparing a 40-minute set is a different vibe than headlining, obviously. You are going out to an audience that is not there for you and doesn't necessarily care if you're there or not.

This is, like, my fourth or fifth artist I've opened for. But for an arena tour, I just needed to gather my nerves. I think that's the difference between any other show. Like, F—, there's 20,000 people out there right now. I've never performed in front of that many people. I don't know what this emotion is, and I just have to tame it right now.

Standing Up For Herself Creatively, Even When There's Pushback

I stand up for myself, I would say, every day. Sometimes, you get this opportunity, a huge opportunity with a lot of money on the table. [Yet,] I'm just like, That just doesn't make sense creatively. That doesn't align with my values. I'm not doing that.

One huge creative decision was I stood up and pushed the entire headlining Midwest Princess tour back to the fall. The album was supposed to come out while we were on tour. I was like, "This is a horrible idea!"

That caused a big ruckus, but it ended up being fine, and I was right. I'm usually right. [ Laughs .] It's like a mother with her kid — a mother knows best. I feel like [that] when it comes to the integrity of my project.

I know how it is to not be able to afford a ticket or even f—ing food. A concert ticket, a lot of times, means multiple meals for someone. I get it, I couldn't afford some artists' tickets. That's why it's really important to me to try to keep them as low as I can and my merch as low as I can.

There's pushback of ticket prices being low and we're playing rooms that are so expensive. The fee to even play them is so expensive. So, you have to raise the ticket prices to just even be able to afford to play the room. There's always an argument [with my team] there, every tour. I'm in control of stuff and if I'm saying this is how it's going to be —- it's just going to be that way.

Performing At Coachella For The First Time

[After the first weekend of Coachella] I am feeling very relieved. I was so stressed about many things. How is the outfit going to work? Will the crowd really be engaged? It went so well, I have no qualms with anything. I loved every second of it.

It feels like I am partying with [my fans]. I am not performing to them; I’m performing with them. [I want people to remember] a really fun, freeing show. Very campy but very meaningful too.

How Andrew Watt Became Rock's Big Producer: His Work With Paul McCartney, Ozzy Osbourne, Pearl Jam, & More

Andrew Watt cut his teeth with pop phenoms, but lately, the 2021 Producer Of The Year winner has been in demand among rockers — from the Rolling Stones and Blink-182 to Elton John.

While in a studio, Andrew Watt bounces off the walls. Just ask Mick Jagger , who once had to gently tell the 33-year-old, "Look, I can deal with this, but when you meet Ronnie and Keith , you have to dial it down a little bit."

Or ask Pearl Jam 's Stone Gossard . "He really got the best out of [drummer] Matt [Cameron] just by being excited — literally jumping up and down and pumping his fist and running around," he tells GRAMMY.com.

As Watt's hot streak has burned on, reams have rightly been written about his ability to take a legacy act, reconnect them with their essence, and put a battery in their back. His efficacy can be seen at Music's Biggest Night: Ozzy Osbourne 's Patient Number 9 won Best Rock Album at the 2023 GRAMMYs . At the last ceremony, the Rolling Stones were nominated for Best Rock Song, for Hackney Diamonds ' opener "Angry."

On Pearl Jam's return to form, Dark Matter , due out April 19. Who was behind the desk? Take a wild guess.

"You want to see them live more than you want to listen to their albums, and they have the ability to look at each other and play and follow each other. I don't like my rock music any other way, as a listener," Watt tells GRAMMY.com. "All my favorite records are made like that — of people speeding up, slowing down, playing longer than they should."

As such, Watt had a lightbulb moment: to not record any demos, and have them write together in the room. "They're all playing different stuff, and it makes up what Pearl Jam is, and singer Eddie [Vedder] rides it like a wave."

If you're more of a pop listener, there's tons of Watt for you — he's worked with Justin Bieber ("Hit the Ground" from Purpose ), Lana Del Rey ("Doin' Time" from Norman F—ing Rockwell ) and much more. Read on for a breakdown of big name rockers who have worked with Andrew Watt.

Pearl Jam / Eddie Vedder

Watt didn't just produce Dark Matter ; he also helmed Vedder's well-received third solo album, Earthling , from 2022. Watt plays guitar in Vedder's live backing band, known as the Earthlings — which also includes Josh Klinghoffer , who replaced John Frusciante in the Red Hot Chili Peppers for a stint.

The Rolling Stones

Dark Matter was a comeback for Pearl Jam, but Hackney Diamonds was really a comeback for the Stones . While it had a hater or two , the overwhelming consensus was that it was the Stones' best album in decades — maybe even since 1978's Some Girls .

"I hope what makes it fresh and modern comes down to the way it's mixed, with focus on low end and making sure the drums are big," Watt, who wore a different Stones shirt every day in the studio, has said about Hackney Diamonds . "But the record is recorded like a Stones album."

Where there are modern rock flourishes on Hackney Diamonds , "There's no click tracks. There's no gridding. There's no computer editing," he continued. "This s— is performed live and it speeds up and slows down. It's made to the f—ing heartbeat connection of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Steve Jordan.

"And Charlie ," Watt added, tipping a hat to Watts, who played on Hackney Diamonds but died before it came out. "When Charlie's on it."

Ever since he first picked up a mic and removed his shirt, the snapping junkyard dog of the Stooges has stayed relevant — as far as indie, alternative and punk music has been concerned.

But aside from bright spots like 2016's Josh Homme -produced Post Pop Depression , his late-career output has felt occasionally indulgent and enervated. The 11 songs on 2023's eclectic Watt-produced Every Loser , on the other hand, slap you in the face in 11 different ways.

"We would jam and make tracks and send them to Iggy, and he would like 'em and write to them or wouldn't like them and we'd do something else," Watt told Billboard . "It was very low pressure. We just kept making music until we felt like we had an album." (And as with Pearl Jam and Vedder's Earthlings band, Watt has rocked out onstage with Pop .

Ozzy Osbourne

You dropped your crown, O Prince of Darkness. When he hooked up with Watt, the original Black Sabbath frontman hadn't released any solo music since 2010's Scream; in 2017, Sabbath finally said goodbye after 49 years and 10 (!) singers.

On 2020's Ordinary Man and 2022's Patient Number 9 , Watt reenergized Ozzy; even when he sounds his age, Ozz sounds resolute, defiant, spitting in the face of the Reaper. (A bittersweet aside: the late Taylor Hawkins appears on Patient Number 9 , which was written and recorded in just four days .)

Yeah, yeah, they're more of a pop -rock band, but they have guitars, bass and drums. (And if you're the type of rock fan who's neutral or hostile to the 5, you shouldn't be; Songs About Jane slaps.)

At any rate, Watt co-produced "Can't Leave You Alone," featuring Juice WRLD , from 2021's Jordi . Critics disparaged the album, but showed Watt's facility straddling the pop and rock worlds.

5 Seconds of Summer

When it comes to Andrew Watt, the Sydney pop-rockers — slightly more on the rock end than Maroon 5 and their ilk — are repeat customers. He produced a number of tracks for 5 Seconds of Summer, which spanned 2018's Youngblood , 2020's Calm and 2022's 5SOS5 .

Regarding the former: Watt has cited Youngblood as one of the defining recording experiences of his life.

"I had started working with 5 Seconds of Summer, and a lot of people looked at them as a boy band, but they're not," Watt told Guitar Player . "They're all incredible musicians. They can all play every instrument. They love rock music. They can harmonize like skyrockets in flight. They just were making the wrong kind of music."

So Watt showed 5 Seconds of Summer a number of mainstays of the rock era, like Tears for Fears and the Police . The rest, as they say, is history.

A year after Britney Spears was unshackled from her highly controversial conservatorship, it was time for a victory lap with the God of Glitter. What resulted was a curious little bauble, which became a megahit: "Hold Me Closer," a spin on "Tiny Dancer," "The One" and "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" that briefly launched Spears back into the stratosphere.

"Britney came in and she knew what she wanted to do," Watt recalled to The L.A. Times . "We sped up the song a little bit and she sang the verses in her falsetto, which harkens back to 'Toxic.' She was having a blast."

Watt has also worked with pop/punk heroes Blink-182 — but not after Tom DeLonge made his grand return. He produced "I Really Wish I Hated You" from 2019's Nine , back when Matt Skiba was in the band.

Where in the rock world will this tender-aged superproducer strike next? Watt knows.

In the wake of his big wi n at the 2024 GRAMMYs — Best Música Mexicana Album (Including Tejano), for GÉNESIS — Peso Pluma lit up Coachella 2024 with that signature fusion of folky guitar ballads and modern hip-hop, with special guests including Becky G and Arcángel . Lil Uzi Vert Previewed A New Song Onstage Ice Spice wasn’t the only act to preview new material at Coachella 2024. Enter four-time GRAMMY nominee Lil Uzi Vert, who performed a hypnotic and — again — unnamed track, one that seemed to be tailor-made for Coachella. A Mini-Fugees Reunion Went Down (Thanks To YG Marley) Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean are no strangers to reigniting the Fugees spirit onstage — they did so at Essence Fest 2022, while GRAMMY.com was reporting on site . This time, they kept it in the family; during Hill’s son YG Marley’s set, both Fugees came out, playing classics like “Killing Me Softly.” (The embattled Pras wasn’t present.) Blur Announced This Was Their Last Performance Together .tweet-container iframe { width: 100% !important; } .body-text { max-width: inherit; } .body-text strong > a { font-weight: 600; } Social media is currently abuzz at the allegedly unresponsive audience for Blur — but what’s a viral, out-of-context clip supposed to prove, anyway? Whatever the case may be, after their rollicking set, Damon Albarn and company declared that the Britpop icons were entering another hiatus. "Yo Gabba Gabba!" Showed Up To The Aquabats’ Pool Party

Christian Jacobs, lead singer of the Aquabats, co-created the "Yo Gabba Gabba!" TV show — and the colorful cast of costumed characters showed up to their pool party! This marks yet another example of ska picking up at Coachella — see the transcendent No Doubt and Sublime performances.

Sublime Made Their Coachella Debut With Jakob Nowell

As you may have read , Sublime are back, against the odds — not with Rome, but with Jakob Nowell , original Sublime frontman Bradley’s son. (It must be said: Bradley died at 28, ending the band’s original run; as he takes the guitar and mic, Jakob himself is 28.)

Speaking of the guitar — he wielded his old man’s, in an emotional and electrifying set that proved these songs’ durability and beyond.

Vampire Weekend Brought Paris Hilton Onstage To Play Cornhole

.body-text { max-width: inherit; } .body-text strong > a { font-weight: 600; } Life imitates Mad Libs! The beloved indie rockers are out promoting their new album, 2024’s Only God Was Above Us — and who better to cheerlead than the one and only Paris Hilton, to play the classic bean bag game with the crew? Dom Dolla Brought Out Nelly Furtado .body-text { max-width: inherit; } .body-text strong > a { font-weight: 600; } View this post on Instagram A post shared by Coachella (@coachella)

Sky Ferreira Made A Surprise Appearance With Kevin Abstract

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Stereogum (@stereogum)

If Sky Ferreira seems like an unlikely candidate to belt out a Lady A hit, think again. The singer/songwriter brought newfound heft to the five-time GRAMMY winners’ classic hit, “Need You Now,” with Kevin Abstract.

Does this foreshadow a reappraisal of the country mainstays’ catalog? Once the dust settles re: the ska revival, we’ll have that conversation.

Kesha Showed Up To Rock With Reneé Rapp (And Diss A Certain Disgraced Rapper)

“Wake up in the morning feeling like P. Diddy ,” Kesha once rapped, in her inescapable 2009 hit “Tik Tok.” Well, that didn’t age well, and Kesha knew that. So she changed “P. Diddy” to “me” — and if that’s just going to be the official lyric now, that’s fine by the music industry. Reneé Rapp, of Mean Girls fame , bolstered her.

Mac DeMarco Joined Forces With Lil Yachty

Mac DeMarco’s been a savvy chameleon at this stage in his career, prioritizing brainy collaborations over typical album release cycles.

He has two songwriting credits on Yachty ’s game changing 2023 album Let’s Start Here , and during Yachty’s performance, he showed up to perform two of his song songs: “On The Level,” from 2017’s This Old Dog , and “Chamber of Reflection,” from his decade-old album Salad Days .

Wallows Will Celebrate Album ‘Model’ With Their ‘Biggest and Best’ Tour Yet

By Tomás Mier

The boys of Wallows promised arena rock on their new album Model — and they are sticking to their word. On Monday, the alt-rock band announced tour dates in the United States and Europe for their upcoming Model World Tour, which includes stops at NYC’s Madison Square Garden and LA’s Kia Forum.

“I can confidently say this is the first time that I’m really anticipating a tour announcement ,” Dylan Minnette told Variety as they announced their tour dates, which include stops in Las Vegas, Boston, and San Diego. “I’m more nervous than ever — but not in a negative way. I know it’s going to go well. I know our fans show up but I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it every day.”

Wallows announced their album Model in an interview with Rolling Stone earlier this month, describing it as “very honest and authentic” and “imperfectly perfect.”

“We want this to be the most approachable album we’ve made. I want people to put this on if they’re not really a fan of us, and be gripped immediately,” Dylan Minnette said. “We don’t want to take too much of their attention, but we want to keep it. We keep them the whole time and make them want to come back.”

Joining the band on the road in the United States will be Benee, the Kiwi pop star responsible for “ Supalonely ,” “Glitter,” and “ Green Honda .”

Tickets for the shows go on sale to the general public on March 15 at 10 a.m. local time, while Wallows newsletter subscribers get first access to a presale starting on March 12 at 10 a.m.

How Often Do Artists Go on Tour? Exploring the Frequency of Touring in the Music Industry

Artists from various genres, be it pop, rock, hip-hop, or country, often embark on tours as a way to connect with their devoted fans, showcase their creative talents, and spread the magic of live music to different corners of the world. These extraordinary journeys allow artists to transcend the boundaries of mere recordings and bring their captivating performances to life on stage. Whether it's an established musician with a vast discography or an up-and-coming artist seeking to make a mark in the industry, tours serve as a pivotal platform for artistic expression and career advancement. But how frequently do these talented individuals take to the road? How often do they leave the comfort of their studios and homes to embark on whirlwind adventures, enthralling audiences with their mesmerizing shows? This question lingers within the minds of devoted fans and curious enthusiasts alike, as they yearn to witness their favorite artists in person and bask in the euphoria of a live concert experience. Delving into the intricate details of an artist's touring frequency unravels a fascinating story filled with artistic dedication, logistical complexities, and unwavering passion. So, let’s explore the captivating world of touring artists and the patterns that govern their nomadic lifestyles, ultimately answering the intriguing query: How often do artists go on tour?

How Important Touring Is for an Artist?

For artists, touring isn’t just an additional aspect of their career, but an integral part of their success. First and foremost, tours offer a unique and invaluable opportunity for artists to grab attention and build a fanbase. By performing in front of different audiences in various cities and countries, artists can showcase their talent, originality, and stage presence, ultimately attracting new fans and followers. The ability to connect with audiences on a personal level during live performances can greatly enhance an artists popularity and fan loyalty.

By regularly performing in different venues and festivals, artists have the opportunity to network with professionals in the music industry, including booking agents, promoters, label executives, and other artists. These connections can open doors for collaborations, support slots, and even potential record deals.

Financial Impact of Touring: Discuss How Touring Can Be a Major Revenue Stream for Artists, Including Ticket Sales, Merchandise Sales, and Sponsorships. Explore the Costs and Potential Profits Associated With Touring.

Touring is a significant source of income for artists as it allows them to generate revenue from various streams. Ticket sales constitute a major portion of an artist’s earnings during a tour. As fans purchase tickets to attend concerts, the collective sales revenue can be substantial, particularly for popular artists who can sell out large venues. Moreover, artists often generate additional income through merchandise sales, such as t-shirts, posters, and albums, which are typically available for purchase at concert venues. These items provide an opportunity for fans to support their favorite artists while also serving as a memento of the concert experience.

In addition to ticket and merchandise sales, sponsorships can also contribute to an artist’s financial gains. Companies may sponsor tours, offering financial support in exchange for promotional opportunities, such as displaying their logo on stage backdrops or having their products featured at concert venues. These sponsorships can provide artists with much-needed funding and enable them to offset tour-related expenses.

However, touring also incurs certain costs that artists must consider. These costs include travel expenses, accommodation, transportation, production costs (stage setup, lighting, sound equipment), and payments to crew members (such as tour managers, sound engineers, and roadies). Additionally, marketing and advertising expenses are necessary to promote the tour and attract audiences.

Despite the expenses, a successful tour can yield substantial profits for artists. By carefully managing costs, negotiating favorable sponsorship deals, and effectively marketing the tour, artists can maximize their financial gains and achieve considerable profits. Nonetheless, it’s essential to strike a balance between generating revenue and ensuring an enjoyable and memorable live experience for fans.

There are alternative avenues for musicians to pursue in order to sustain a successful music career without relying solely on touring. From the rise of digital platforms and streaming services to embracing virtual performances and collaborations, artists can still secure a respectable income while staying true to their personal circumstances and commitments.

Can You Have a Music Career Without Touring?

For artists who prefer to focus on studio work, there are numerous opportunities to create music and generate income without the need for touring. With advancements in technology, musicians can now produce high-quality music from the comfort of their own homes. This allows them to collaborate with other artists remotely, work as session musicians for various projects, and even compose music for film, TV, and commercials.

Additionally, the rise of streaming platforms has opened up new avenues for artists to earn lucrative royalties. By strategically promoting their music and building a strong online presence, musicians can generate a steady stream of income through digital downloads, streams, and licensing opportunities. This allows them to connect with a global audience, without physically leaving their homes.

Furthermore, many artists have found success by diversifying their income streams. They may offer music lessons or workshops, sell merchandise, or create exclusive content for dedicated fans. By leveraging their unique talents and building a loyal fanbase, artists can create alternative revenue streams that supplement their income and allow them to sustain a music career without relying on touring.

Moreover, live streaming has become increasingly popular in recent years, especially with the global pandemic restricting traditional live performances. Artists can host virtual concerts, Q&A sessions, and behind-the-scenes content, all of which can be monetized through ticket sales, donations, and sponsorships. This not only provides an income source but also allows artists to connect with fans and foster a sense of community.

Lastly, there are many opportunities within the industry itself that don’t require constant touring. Artists can explore careers in music production, songwriting, A&R, music supervision, and more. These roles allow them to contribute to the music community and have a fulfilling career while not having to constantly be on the road.

Source: Can you make a living as a professional musician without …

When it comes to earning money from tours, artists have the potential to make a significant income. Typically, musicians take home around 85% of their touring revenue from each venue, while the remaining 15% is allocated to promoters, covering venue fees and various expenses essential for the smooth execution of the tour.

Do Artists Make Money From Tours?

Artists have long relied on touring as a significant source of income. While album sales and streaming royalties play a part, tours offer a unique opportunity for artists to connect with their fans on a more personal level and generate revenue from ticket sales, merchandise, and sponsorships. However, it’s important to note that the financial breakdown of a tour can vary depending on various factors such as the artists popularity, the size of the venues, and the overall expenses involved.

It’s important to understand that the percentage an artist receives isnt set in stone and can vary based on individual circumstances. Established, headlining artists with a strong fan base and high demand can negotiate better deals and command a greater share of the profits. On the other hand, emerging artists or those who’re co-headlining may have to accept a smaller percentage due to shared expenses or the need to gain exposure.

However, this percentage can be subject to negotiation and may vary depending on the artists standing in the industry.

The length of an artist’s tour can vary greatly depending on their level of success. For hugely popular bands, it isn’t uncommon to be on the road for a year or even longer. However, for your average local band embarking on a tour, the duration is typically around two weeks with approximately 11 or 12 shows. Ultimately, the length of a tour relies on the band’s ability to secure bookings and financial stability.

How Long Is the Average Artist Tour?

The length of an artists tour greatly depends on their level of success and the demands of their fan base. For huge, internationally recognized bands, it’s not uncommon for their tours to last several months or even a year. These artists typically have a massive following, allowing them to fill arenas and stadiums in multiple countries, requiring an extensive amount of time on the road.

The duration of a tour can also be limited by various factors, such as budget constraints and availability. Artists need to ensure they’ve enough funds to cover transportation, accommodations, and other expenses associated with touring. Additionally, they need to consider the availability of venues and suitable tour dates that won’t clash with other events or potential conflicts.

Being a touring musician requires more than just musical talent. It involves building connections, networking, and proving oneself in the industry. Beginning musicians may have to audition for opportunities, while established musicians may rely on their reputation and past experiences to secure touring gigs.

What Does It Take to Be a Touring Musician?

Regardless of how they land the gig, touring musicians must be proficient in their instrument and be able to adapt quickly to different musical styles and genres. They must also have the ability to read and interpret sheet music and play in sync with the rest of the band. Being able to play by ear and improvise is also essential, as touring musicians often need to learn and perform new songs on short notice.

They must be able to take direction and work well under pressure, as touring can be a high-stress environment with tight schedules and last-minute changes. Being able to problem-solve and think on their feet is also crucial, as issues such as equipment failure or venue problems can arise during a tour.

In terms of career advancement, touring musicians can build their reputation and network by playing gigs, recording sessions, and collaborating with other musicians. They can also take advantage of opportunities to showcase their skills, such as participating in music festivals or competitions. Additionally, having a strong online presence and utilizing social media platforms can help touring musicians connect with potential employers and fans.

It’s a challenging career path that can be physically and mentally demanding, but for those who’re passionate about music and live performance, the rewards are often worth it.

The Physical and Mental Challenges of Being a Touring Musician

  • Constantly being on the road and away from home
  • Dealing with long hours of travel and jet lag
  • Living out of a suitcase and constantly moving hotels
  • Maintaining a healthy lifestyle on the road
  • Managing relationships and personal life from a distance
  • Dealing with the pressure to perform night after night
  • Being away from loved ones and missing important events
  • Dealing with the uncertainty of income and job security
  • Navigating different cultures and social dynamics on tour
  • Finding time for rest and self-care amidst a hectic schedule

In addition, band members who aren’t session musicians have their own unique set of activities when they aren’t on tour. While touring is a significant part of their work, they also dedicate time to various pursuits, such as writing songs, recording new material, collaborating with other artists, and engaging in promotional activities. Moreover, they may attend music festivals, industry events, and workshops to enhance their skills and stay connected with the music community. Their time off the road is precious and allows them to explore creative endeavors and recharge for their next tour.

What Do Band Members Do When Not Touring?

When band members aren’t touring, they often engage in various activities that contribute to their personal and professional growth. Firstly, they may invest their time in honing their musical skills by practicing their instrument or exploring new techniques. This continuous improvement allows them to evolve as musicians and experiment with different sounds and genres.

Additionally, band members may spend their off-tour time working on new material. They might write songs individually or collaborate with other artists, aiming to create innovative and captivating music. This creative process helps them stay inspired and ensures a steady stream of fresh material for future albums or performances.

Furthermore, band members also participate in recording sessions for other artists or bands. They may be hired as session musicians, lending their talent and expertise to enhance the sound of various albums. This role grants them the opportunity to work with different artists, experiment with diverse musical styles, and expand their professional network.

Apart from musical endeavors, band members take part in various promotional activities during their downtime. They may engage in interviews, photo shoots, and media appearances to generate buzz for their band and maintain a strong presence in the industry. These efforts help create anticipation for upcoming tours or releases and keep the band relevant in the eyes of their fans.

They may pursue other artistic endeavors, such as painting, writing, or acting. Some band members even venture into entrepreneurial pursuits, starting their own record labels or side projects that allow them to explore different creative avenues.

This multifaceted approach ensures their continuous growth and development as musicians, as well as their ability to maintain a strong presence in the ever-evolving music industry.

How Band Members Maintain Their Physical and Mental Well-Being When Not Touring

Band members prioritize their physical and mental well-being by engaging in activities that help them stay healthy and grounded when they aren’t touring. They might exercise regularly, eat a balanced diet, and practice mindfulness or meditation to manage stress and maintain mental clarity. They could also devote time to pursuing personal hobbies and interests, spending quality time with loved ones, and seeking professional support when needed. By taking care of themselves during their downtime, band members ensure they’re in top form and ready to bring their best to the stage when touring resumes.

In conclusion, artists embark on tours with varying frequency depending on their career trajectory, demand, and personal preferences. While some artists may engage in extensive touring schedules, hopping from city to city and country to country, others may opt for more targeted or sporadic tour plans. The frequency of tours can be influenced by numerous factors like album releases, promotional cycles, and market demand. Ultimately, the decision to go on tour rests with the artist, their team, and their goals for reaching and engaging with audiences worldwide.

NEW YORK, NY - JUNE 21: Harry Styles performs onstage during Harry Styles: Live On Tour - New York ...

It’s been a rough year for live music, but there’s a light at the end of the tunnel!

The sudden halt of live music in 2020 as the coronavirus took hold was devastating for music fans. Artists and fans alike lost out on over a year of the live music experience as the virus spread and many venues closed their doors. The touring industry took such a big financial hit that many live venues shut down permanently, and artists releasing new music had to promote solely online. Thankfully, the live music community is slowly being rebuilt as vaccines roll out. Everyone from major artists to indie artists are gearing up to finally hit the road once again. The industry is still on shaky ground, so many tours are being delayed until 2022, but the show will go on. These 12 artists are ready to rock the stage and head out on tour.

Some artists who have confirmed tours are playing brand new, recently-released music. For example, Kacey Musgraves announced a brand new tour on Aug. 30 and will be playing music from her new album, Star-Crossed . On the other hand, some of these tours have been in the works for a long time. The Jonas Brothers, Justin Bieber, and Dua Lipa all had to reschedule tours , so the chance to play for fans will be extra special this time around.

At this rate, you’re probably used to livestream concerts and Zoom events. But these 12 artists are playing live in flesh and you won’t want to miss it.

On July 14, Styles announced he would be hitting stages across America in fall 2021. While he sadly had to postpone his European dates, he promised U.S. fans an epic show. “LOVE ON TOUR will be going out across the USA this September and I could not be more excited for these shows,” he captioned the announcement. “As always, the well-being of my fans, band, and crew, is my top priority.”

Maroon 5 are elated to be hitting the road again in fall 2021. That being said, they’re taking the utmost caution at their shows and are requiring all attendees to be fully vaccinated. “What a blast kicking off our 2021 tour last night, thank you to all the fans for making our first show back special!” they said on Instagram after their first show in Washington on Aug. 11.

“We want you to know that our top priority is the safety and well-being of our fans as well as that of the hard-working men and women who make these events possible,” they continued. “To that end we want to convey our support of recent news around shows starting to require additional protocols for entry, therefore starting on Aug 16th and in the following markets, proof of a negative test result within 48 hours of your show OR full vaccination will be required to attend.”

Their current tour will continue into October 2021.

The Jonas Brothers’ Remember This tour began making its rounds across America in August 2021. With special guest Kelsea Ballerini joining them on the road, it’s sure to live up to its title and be a memorable run.

The Biebs is going back on tour! Fans who hoped to see the singer in 2021 will now have to wait until 2022, but the show will go on... eventually. Bieber’s Justice World Tour officially kicks off in San Diego on Feb. 18, 2022.

European fans of Lipa rejoice! The “Levitating” singer will be hitting major cities across Europe in spring 2022. The dates were originally rescheduled from 2021.

Eilish is gearing up to rock stages on her Happier Than Ever tour and she’s got an epic lineup planned. She’s bringing Jessie Reyez, Duckwrth, Willow, and Girl In Red on the road. It all kicks off Feb. 3 in New Orleans.

Star boy is bringing his star energy on the road in 2022. Fans who have been waiting to catch Abel live can do so when he hits major cities across the U.S. in January and February.

Lorde is harnessing her Solar Power and is hitting the road. After the release of her new album, Lorde knew it was time to bring her musical magic back to the stage. Her Solar Power World Tour kicks off on Feb. 26 y’all.

Miss Musgraves has a new set of tunes and a new set of tour dates. After the release of her singles “Justified and “Star-Crossed,” the singer announced a full-fledged tour. Titled Star-Crossed: Unveiled , the tour dates will take place across North America in January and February 2022.

Bridgers is confirmed to go on tour in fall 2021, but is making a point to only play outdoor stages to keep fans safe. Additionally, proof of vaccination will be required for entry.

Mayer released his eighth studio album Sob Rock on July 16 and announced a tour of the same name soon after. Yep, Mayer is hitting the road to play alllllll the sad bops and the action will kick off on Feb. 17, 2022.

Those hungry for a little early 2000’s nostalgia can catch the Backstreet Boys on the road next year. The boy band was supposed to hit the road in 2021, but ultimately postponed their shows until 2022 . Nevertheless, the show will go on!

The world looks much different after being a band for more than a decade. But some things will always remain the same. It’s finding that right balance of nostalgia and freshness that brings me the most joy in the studio. We had a lot of fun making this one and hope you enjoy it too.”

Steven Tyler, Aerosmith announce rescheduled farewell concert tour: New dates and ticket info

when do artists announce tour dates

Aerosmith will be back in the saddle again this fall.

The veteran rockers, who postponed their Peace Out farewell tour after only a few shows in September, will return for a 40-date run starting Sept. 20 in Pittsburgh. The tour wraps Feb. 26, 2025 in Buffalo, NY.

The bulk of the dates are rescheduled, but the band added three cities: Pittsburgh, Orlando and Philadelphia, where their goodbye run kicked off last September.

All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new dates, while tickets for the new shows will go on sale at 10 a.m. local time April 12 via ticketmaster.com . For those who previously purchased tickets and cannot attend the rescheduled concerts, refunds will be available at point of purchase. A series of VIP packages are also available at aerosmith.com/VIP.

As with the original dates, The Black Crowes will open for Aerosmith.

More: Aerosmith Peace Out: See the setlist for the iconic band's farewell tour

Why did Aerosmith postpone their farewell tour?

After playing only a handful of concerts in September, the “Walk This Way” heroes had to hit pause after singer Steven Tyler damaged his vocal cords. He also fractured his larynx and was given doctor’s orders not to sing for 30 days.

But Aerosmith opted to give Tyler ample time to recuperate and scuttle all of their shows until 2024.

The wiry frontman known for his searing rock yowls, said at the time that the injury occurred at a Sept. 10 show in New York and that the vocal cord damage “led to subsequent bleeding.”

What songs can fans expect to hear at Aerosmith’s farewell shows?

USA TODAY was there for opening night of the Peace Out tour Sept. 3 in Philadelphia. As the tour is also a celebration of the band’s 50 years in the music industry, the setlist reflected their vast catalog.

The band – Tyler, guitarist Joe Perry, bassist Tom Hamilton and guitarist Brad Whitford, along with drummer John Douglas filling in for Joey Kramer – sounded in peak form for their deserved victory lap.

Songs ranged from singalong rock smashes “Livin’ on the Edge,” “Sweet Emotion” and “Rag Doll” to the rarely played album track “Adam’s Apple” and a dip into Aerosmith’s blues roots with “Hangman Jury.”
