dan seals tour

Experience the music of '70s rock duo Seals & Crofts in a whole new way. Hear the hits “Summer Breeze,” “Diamond Girl,” and “We May Never Pass This Way (Again),” artfully re-imagined with a reverent nod to the past. Seals & Crofts 2, comprised of Brady Seals (cousin to James “Jim” Seals) and Lua Crofts (daughter of Darrell “Dash” Crofts) will dazzle you on their debut album. The project will feature many popular Seals & Crofts classics, as well as new songs from Seals & Crofts 2.

Singer/songwriter/artist Brady Seals has a pedigree for success. You could say that music is “in his blood,” as he is related to numerous industry heavyweights that include Jimmy Seals (Seals & Crofts), as well as Dan Seals (England Dan & John Ford Coley), and Troy Seals (Songwriting Hall of Fame Member).

Throughout his career, Brady has sold over 11 million albums and Brady Seals is probably best known for his tenure in the 1990s as keyboardist and co-lead singer in the Grammy-nominated group Little Texas. Seals co-wrote three consecutive #1 songs for the band (“What Might Have Been,” “God Blessed Texas,” and “My Love”) winning him ASCAP’s Triple Play award.

In 1996 Seals pursued a solo career, collaborating with the legendary Rodney Crowell to co-produce his Warner Brothers album, The Truth. It features a duet with Wynonna Judd, “Another You, Another Me” that sold over 100,000 singles. A self-titled CD followed in 1998 with guest appearances by Vince Gill, Ricky Skaggs, Timothy B. Schmidt (The Eagles), Bela Fleck, and Max Carl (.38 Special).

Seals returned to his band roots and formed Hot Apple Pie in 2002. The band quickly made history when they became the highest-selling debut country group in the Neilson Soundscan era. Their entry single “Hillbillies Love it in the Hay” went Top 20. The video shot to #1 on VH-1 Country and was among CMT’s “Top 20 Sexiest Videos.”

In 2022 Seals signed with SM1 Music Group/Universal Music to release a brand-new musical project that he's been working on for years. Brady's first single, "I'd Really Love To See You Tonight" features John Ford Coley and Lua Crofts.

Talented and soulful vocalist Lua Crofts comes from the '70s era of rock royalty. The daughter of Dash Crofts of the hugely popular '70s duo Seals & Crofts, performers of such hits as “Summer Breeze”, “Get Closer”, and “Diamond Girl”, grew up in Los Angeles California right smack dab in the middle of the '70s and '80s music industry.

Deciding to follow in her father’s footsteps, her first experience as a session singer was at the tender age of 7 years old when she accompanied both her mother and father on a song that would

be featured on a popular children’s album. She would go on to become an in-demand session singer throughout the ’90s and early 2000’s in the Los Angeles area, singing background vocals on many popular R&B albums for artists like Rahsaan Patterson (MCA), Tevin Campbell (Qwest), Shanice Wilson (LaFace Records), Ray J (East West Records), Tamia Washington (Elektra Records) and many more. She was also featured on the smooth jazz track “Better Days” off of the legendary Producer/Guitar player Louie Shelton’s 1998 Jazz album “Hot & Spicy”.

In ‘96 she toured the world as a background vocalist for Rahsaan Patterson’s self-titled album tour and again for his ’99 “Love In Stereo” album tour. She also traveled with Brady Seals for his ‘97 solo album tour, “The Truth” and it is here that Lua and Brady first worked together musically.

She currently lives in Nashville Tennessee with her husband and children, continues to do studio session work, and sings/tours with the famous Nashville Gospel Choir, Eric Dozier and Friends.

REMAINING ALBUMS RELEASED ON CD IN SEPTEMBER OF 2007!! Wounded Bird Records released most of the remaining Seals & Crofts albums on 9/18/07, and they can be ordered at their website and several other online distributors. The Get Closer and Diamond Girl albums were released at Rhino's Flashback division on 9/18/07 and 2/8/05 respectively. Get Closer is also available for download at this link . However, those digital files may not be compatible with Apple computers. Until now, only a few of the lps from the 70's were released on cd. The ever popular Summer Breeze album has been available since 1995, with a reissue in 2004. The original Greatest Hits album has been available for years, but without a decent remastering and without the newer songs. For details on the past release issues, see the revised F.A.Q. section .

THE WAIT CONTINUES . . . Sadly, no Seals & Crofts tour is currently planned. No additional recording project is in the works either.

DAN SEALS (1948-2009). Jimmy's famous brother Dan, who succumbed after a long battle with Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. He was known to fans for the many hits that were charted by England Dan and John Ford Coley, and a long solo career in country music. He was known to those close to him for his warmth, generous spirit and engaging wit - he is sorely missed. Dan and Jim toured together following their appearance at the Grand Ole Opry in 2002, as Seals & Seals . They were also backed by Jimmy's sons Joshua and Sutherland, who have been in various bands, such as Hum Static .

SUMMER BREEZE REMIX A HIT ON THE ADULT CONTEMPORY BILLBOARD CHART! We've had a number of inquiries about the Gap ad that featured "Summer Breeze." It appeared on "American Idol," "Friends," and other prime time shows. The single is not the updated version of the song that appears on Traces . It is in fact the original version of the song, edited and remixed by Philip Steir and Leah Simon. It was on Billboard's AC chart for several weeks and peaked at no. 15. There is a limited release of the single on cd, and you can download it at itunes.com . It was also re-released on the Warners Brothers compilation, "What Is Hip." There have been, incidentally, a number of good cover versions of "Summer Breeze" over the years, beginning with the Isley Brothers' hit rendition. Diverse interpretations have been done by Spiral (house), DJ Geoffe (trance), Ramsey Lewis (lounge jazz), One Love (reggae), Wayman Tisdale (soul), Type O Negative (metal) and Bad Haggis (weird electronic bagpipes). Dan Seals has died aged 61

The smooth tenor voice of Dan Seals, who has died aged 61 of cancer, only briefly troubled British airwaves when I'd Really Love to See You Tonight spent seven weeks in the Top 40 in the autumn of 1976. While that song has since gone on to be a staple of soft-rock radio and Valentine's Day-themed marketing, Seals enjoyed much greater success in the US.

Seals was born into a musical family in Pleasant Grove, west Texas - his father played with the country singer Ernest Tubb and he had two older brothers, Jim and Eddie, who were also musicians. Eddie played with the country singer-songwriter Jim Reeves and would enjoy a taste of success as part of the Champs, who scored a 1958 pop hit with Tequila. Dan played string bass in the family band.

After his parents divorced when he was 10, Seals moved with his mother to Dallas. Here he formed several high-school bands, the last of which, Southwest FOB, developed a local following, opening for groups including Led Zeppelin and signing with the Memphis soul label Stax/Volt. With his fellow band member John Coley, Seals formed England Dan & John Ford Coley in 1969, the duo deciding they wanted to pursue a softer sound than their bandmates. Seals had been given the nickname England Dan because he loved the Beatles so much that he affected an English accent.

Moving to Los Angeles, the pair quickly won a recording deal with A&M, but while they scored a No 1 hit in Japan in 1971 with the song Simone, the US market remained unimpressed and A&M dropped them. Dan's older brother Jim was experiencing huge US success as part of Seals & Crofts in the early 1970s, and this encouraged Dan and John Coley to keep trying, even though they were not offered a recording deal for four years. In 1975 their manager suggested they record a song he had found on a demo from the Mississippi songwriter Parker McGee. That song was I'd Really Love To See You Tonight, and it not only won the duo a new recording contract but reached No 2 in the US and became a worldwide hit, selling more than two million copies.

The duo went on to enjoy several more US Top 10 hits, but by the 1980s tastes had changed; realising that their soft rock would not appeal to the MTV generation, the pair split. Seals released a solo album, but it flopped, and his house, van and bank accounts were seized because his management had not paid his taxes.

Signing to Capitol, Seals shifted to Nashville and began to record as Dan Seals. He initially struggled, but his voice and sentimental manner suited Nashville at a time when country music began to soften its rural styling. Seals started scoring hits on the country music charts in 1984. A 1985 duet with Marie Osmond, Meet Me in Montana, reached No 1 and Seals followed this with a run of eight chart-toppers. More hits followed, including his 11th country No 1 with a cover of Sam Cooke's Good Times in 1990.

Just as the pop-rock market had changed radically in the 1980s, so did country music in the 1990s with the arrival of Garth Brooks' turbo-charged anthems. Seals devoted more time to his family and his Baha'i faith, though he continued to record and tour; he performed at the Baha'i World Congress in 1992.

He is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters.

Remembering Dan Seals, Rock Star Turned '80s Country Hitmaker

Born in McCamey, Texas in 1948, it was clear from the beginning that Danny Wayland Seals was meant for music. After all, his older brother Jim Seals was in the rock group Seals & Crofts , so he had music in his blood.

It was Jim who gave Dan the nickname "England Dan" as a child. Dan was an avid fan of the Beatles and would even use a British accent. It was also Jim's idea to use the childhood nickname as part of his first musical collaboration with John Ford Coley.

Coley was a former high school classmate of Dan Seals . The two joined together in Dallas, forming the group Southwest F.O.B. ('Free On Board'). They eventually became England Dan & John Ford Coley and were signed by A&M Records in 1970. Unfortunately, they were dropped a couple of years later before being picked up by Big Tree Records. The duo had a few top 40 hits including their biggest success, "I'd Really Love to See You Tonight" which hit No. 2 on the charts. They had a solid career as a rock group before Seals decided it was time for a change. England Dan and John Ford Coley officially disbanded in 1980 and Seals made the decision to reinvent himself as a solo artist. A country singer to be exact.

Seals signed with Capitol Records in 1983 and moved to Nashville to record country music. Though it was a slow start for Seals to get used to the country scene, his career started to pick up with "God Must Be a Cowboy" on his 1984 album, Rebel Heart . This is where everything really turned around and lead to 16 consecutive top 10 country hits for Seals that lasted until 1990.

One notable hit in 1985 came from his duet with Marie Osmond, "Meet Me in Montana," which was followed by eight chart topping hits. His duet with Osmond also earned the Vocal Duo of the Year Award at the CMAs. Other No. 1 hits in the '80s included "You Still Move Me," "I Will Be There," "Three Time Loser," " Addicted ," and "Love on Arrival." "Addicted" performed so well it even helped the songwriter, Cheryl Wheeler, get her own record deal with Capitol. In 1986, Seals released "Everything That Glitters (Is Not Gold)." The song, penned by Seals and Bob McDill, follows a heartbroken single dad raising his daughter on the rodeo circuit and is one of Seals' most beloved hits.

Seals' last number one hit was a cover of "Good Times" by Sam Cooke in the early '90s. He continued touring through the '90s, releasing a few more albums with smaller labels. His last album, Make It Home, was released in 2002.

Seals spent the better part of the 2000s touring with his brother Jim under the name Seals & Seals. Their group included Jim's two sons with setlists covering everything from Seals solo career to England Dan and John Ford Coley and Seals & Crofts.

The country singer lost his battle to lymphoma in 2009. But we'll continue to look back on his career fondly and remember his greatest hits like  "Big Wheels in the Moonlight,"  "Bop," "Nights Are Forever Without You," "My Old Yellow Car," "They Rage On," and "My Baby's Got Good Timing."

Pop singer turned country star Dan Seals dies at 61

Social sharing.

Pop singer turned country star Dan Seals has died of complications of cancer. He was 61.

Seals died Wednesday at his daughter's home in Nashville, after a battle with lymphoma.

The brother of Jim Seals of Seals & Croft, Dan Seals sang under the name England Dan in the 1970s in a duo with John Ford Coley.

They had several hits, including I'd Really Like to See You Tonight, Nights are Forever and Love is the Answer.

Seals and Coley met in Dallas in 1968, playing in a rock band before perfecting their soft pop sound. The duo disbanded in 1980.

Seals then began a solo career, climbing the country charts with hits such as God Must Be a Cowboy, My Baby's Got Good Timing, Bop , and You Still Move Me.

His duet with Marie Osmond, Meet Me in Montana , was a chart-topper in 1985 and earned the pair a Country Music Association Award for best vocal duo.

Seals enjoyed a successful country career throughout the 1980s and early 1990s, but his soft country sound fell out of fashion in the 1990s and his popularity waned.

He continued to tour and released his last studio album, Make It Home , in 2002.

Born Danny Wayland Seals on Feb. 8, 1948, Seals grew up in a music-oriented family in McCamey, Texas.

He learned to play bass and both his brothers — Eddie and Jim — became musicians.

Go beneath the streets on this tour of the spectacular, mind-bending Moscow Metro! Be awed by architecture and spot the Propaganda , then hear soviet stories from a local in the know. Finish it all up above ground, looking up to Stalins skyscrapers, and get the inside scoop on whats gone on behind those walls.

Know More about this tour

We begin our Moscow tour beneath the city, exploring the underground palace of the Moscow Metro. From the Square of Revolution station, famous for its huge statues of soviet people (an armed soldier, a farmer with a rooster, a warrior, and more), we’ll move onto some of the most significant stations, where impressive mosaics, columns, and chandeliers will boggle your eyes! Moreover, these stations reveal a big part of soviet reality — the walls depict plenty of Propaganda , with party leaders looking down from images on the walls. Your local guide will share personal stories of his/her family from USSR times, giving you insight into Russia’s complicated past and present. Then we’re coming back up to street level, where we’ll take a break and refuel with some Russian fast food: traditional pancakes, called bliny. And then, stomachs satiated, we are ready to move forward! We’ll take the eco-friendly electric trolleybus, with a route along the Moscow Garden Ring. Used mainly by Russian babushkas(grannies) during the day, the trolleybus hits peak hours in the mornings and evenings, when many locals use it going to and from their days. Our first stop will be the Aviator’s House, one of Stalin’s Seven Sisters, followed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs — and you’ll hear the legends of what has gone on inside the walls. Throughout your Moscow tour, you’ll learn curious facts from soviet history while seeing how Russia exists now, 25 years after the USSR.
