Harmonious Private Fireworks Cruise

Walt Disney World currently has nightly fireworks in both Magic Kingdom and Epcot.  Magic Kingdom offers dessert parties and private fireworks cruises. The Harmonious Fireworks cruise provides priority viewing of the nightly fireworks with snacks, privacy, and superior fireworks views.

Epcot currently offers private fireworks cruises and dining packages at Spice Road Table and the Rose and Crown to view Harmonious. My family experienced the Harmonious private fireworks cruise for 4th of July weekend. Harmonious is currently my favorite fireworks show at Walt Disney World. 

Fireworks Cruise

Private fireworks cruises are bookable 60 days in advance through the Enchanting Extras phone line.  Epcot and Magic Kingdom offer these nighty cruises.  A limited number of these charted boats are offered so make sure you book these in advance. 

For the Epcot cruise, guests view the fireworks at International Gateway between the France and United Kingdom pavilion.  

Pricing starts at $399 plus tax.  The boat seats up to 10 guests.  We were traveling with a group of 9.  Traveling with a larger group is a great way to split the costs to make the cruise more affordable.  Splitting the costs of most groups is actually cheaper than a dessert part if you have a larger group.

DVC members also receive a discount when booking the cruise. 

The Harmonious cruise departed from the Yacht Club dock.  We were told to arrive at 8 pm.  Once we arrived, children were provided with a lifejacket.  Disney provides included snacks and sodas. At the end of the cruise, you are encouraged to take all the snacks and sodas with you. 

We also received a printed photo of the fireworks as a souvenir keepsake.  

Pre-Show Cruise

Once we boarded the ship, our captain took us on a tour of Crescent Lake.  We were taken to Hollywood Studios and had commentary on Disney history of the resorts and attractions.  We then were taken to Epcot and docked off in International Gateway.  

Fireworks Show

Once we were docked at International Gateway, we were able to enjoy snacks and drinks.  We were docked for about 15 minutes prior to the show starting.  Each boat docks right next to each other so each boat has equally good views.  

The Harmonious show relies heavily on projections so I was worried that the view may not be the best.  I was wrong.  The only part of the show we had some difficulty seeing was the large circular screen, but we had a good view of the other screens.  

We had a great view of the show and enjoyed the privacy of our own boat.  We did not have to line up early to find the perfect viewing spot.  To us this was worth it with our small children.  Our captain even provided us with noise cancelling headphones for our 3-year-old.  

I would highly recommend booking the private Harmonious fireworks cruise.  If you split the costs between several families, the experience is also cheaper than buying individual tickets to a dessert party. 

We had a great viewing space, delicious snacks, and a relaxing experience.  We also did not have to contend with the crowds leaving the park after the fireworks as we were taken back to the Yacht Club dock.

Harmonious Fireworks Showtime, Location, and Tips: A Guide to EPCOT’s Newest Nightly Fireworks Show

Get info on EPCOT’s Harmonious fireworks showtime, location, and duration, plus tips for a successful viewing experience of EPCOT’s newest nightly fireworks show in the details below.

Harmonious is the newest fireworks show at EPCOT (and that’s simplifying things because it’s so. much. more! ), which debuted on October 1, 2021 , in honor of Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary. Although EPCOT’s 40th anniversary isn’t until next year, Harmonious is one of the first things to officially open as part of EPCOT’s big anniversary overhaul , which includes other new attractions, restaurants, experiences, and a totally reimagined Future World (now called World Nature, World Celebration, and World Discovery).

And talk about setting the bar HIGH . After not being able to visit the parks for over a year and a half, I can safely say that Harmonious was the best new thing I saw at WDW on my recent trip, and I cannot wait to watch it time and time again.

I’ll admit, when it comes to the previous nightly entertainment, I appreciated IllumiNations but wasn’t the biggest fan, and I enjoyed EPCOTForever (especially when I had the good fortune to view it from my room at Disney’s Riviera Resort ). But Harmonious has stolen my heart.

Along with KiteTails and Enchantment , I was fortunate to see Harmonious as part of a special media preview (thanks, Disney!), and I ran back to see it again a couple nights later. I love how much space there is around World Showcase Lagoon, and I do think it’s worth watching from inside EPCOT even without a front-row-center view to glimpse the video and fountain elements, but neighboring resorts offer nice views of the fireworks bursts too.

From those experiences, I’ve compiled these Harmonious tips for maximum viewing experience , as well as some basic details about EPCOT’s Harmonious fireworks  showtimes and the Harmonious   location within EPCOT.

Harmonious Fireworks Showtime, Duration, and Location

EPCOT’s Harmonious Soundtrack

Harmonious is aptly named because this is the most beautiful, emotional, soundtrack with seamless transitions and beautiful harmony —not only in vocals, but in how the the songs, projections, fireworks, and fountains work together.

Disney’s Harmonious soundtrack is epic. You can expect to hear these tunes:

• “Tulou Tagaloa” and “How Far I’ll Go”  from Moana
• “Circle of Life,” “ Hakuna Matata,” and “ Can You Feel the Love Tonight” from The Lion King
• “The Bells of Notre Dame”, “Out There,” and “ Someday” from The Hunchback of Notre Dame
• “Vuelie” from Frozen
• “Go the Distance” from Hercules
• “Arabian Nights” from Aladdin
• “I Wanna Be Like You” from The Jungle Book
• “Reflection” from Mulan
• “Prologue” from Beauty and the Beast
• “Touch the Sky” from Brave
• “Remember Me” and “El Mundo Es Mi Familia” from Coco
• “Dig a Little Deeper” from The Princess and the Frog

Harmonious Fireworks Viewing Tips

Unlike some other shows at WDW like Disney Enchantment or Fantasmic!, there is a huge amount of viewing area for Harmonious. It’s essentially performed “in the round” and you can watch anywhere from World Showcase (which also means your showtime snacks can range from croissants and kaki gori to Bavarian pretzels and avocado margaritas!).

There’s no “bad” spot to watch from , but not all viewing locations are created equal. So, where should you watch Harmonious from, what are the crowds like, and how early do you need to arrive?

Where to Watch Harmonious for the Best View of “The Ring”

The set pieces on World Showcase Lagoon that facilitate the videos, projections, lasers, fountains, and many of the fireworks used on the show include four barge, and a central piece I’m calling the ring (see the above photo for an example of what I mean).

You can enjoy Harmonious from anywhere, but a central view where you can see through the ring is pretty special . There are some effects that you won’t see from other vantage points.

If you want the best view of the ring, spot 1 in the diagram above can’t be beat.

However, this is often reserved for private events and dessert parties . If you have the opportunity to view from there, take it!

The walkway near the Odyssey, indicated by spot 2, is also a pretty good view . And I tested out a further-back but still central view at spot 3 that worked out very nicely . There are some trees and other guests in the way, but I showed up minutes before the official Harmonious fireworks showtime and still had a nice (partially obstructed) view of the ring.

Where to Watch Harmonious for the Best View of the Barges

The four barges provide the video screens seen in the show, along with some other cool effects. You should be able to see at least one of them no matter where you are, but more is better!

Let’s really get into those sight lines now. In the map above, you can see dotted lines. Those show viewing areas based on where you should be able to best see the videos on the barges and projections on the ring.

• The areas at the top and bottom between the sets of yellow lines are where you should be able to see through at least part of the ring and two barge screens .
• The two areas at the bottom between the sets of pink lines are where you might see the ring, but you’ll definitely see two of the four barge screens .
• The two areas on the left and right between the set of aqua lines are where you’ll see two barges but only the side arms of the ring (which is pretty cool too).
• Everywhere else you’ll see at least one barge screen , maybe or maybe not obstructed by trees, buildings, etc.

Here’s a more simple view of where to stand to land in the yellow, pink, or aqua zones.  Theses spots will fill up fastest, with yellow, pink, then aqua becoming crowded before guests start to fill in other areas around World Showcase Lagoon.

Where to Watch Harmonious for the Best View of the Fireworks

This one is easy! Any spot—and I do mean any spot— where you have a clear view of the sky around World Showcase Lagoon will provide excellent fireworks viewing.

Being in a more open spot (for example, near the Odyssey Pavilion or in the Morocco Pavilion) will provide a “wider” view than if you’re set back in the Italy or Japan Pavilion, but the effect will be stunning no matter where you sit or stand.

Where to Watch Harmonious Away from the Crowds

If you want to avoid crowds during the show , watch from further back. Spots on the bridge into World Celebration, further back in the Japan, France, Italy, and China Pavilions, offer nice views with fewer people too. As long as you can see the sky above World Showcase Lagoon , you’ll see the fireworks! The music is piped in everywhere.

A really big factor for me when it comes to crowds is what happens after the show. If you want to avoid crowds leaving the park altogether, you can have a nice slow walk out of World Showcase—watch from America or even Germany—and then slowly walk toward your transportation destination.

If you want to be the first out of the park after the show and on your way home or to your resort hotel, watch here:

• To get to the Disney Skyliner quickly, watch from France or the UK so you can rush out of International Gateway.
• To get to the m onorail, buses, or parking lot quickly, watch from Canada, Mexico, or World Showcase Plaza—or even on the bridge between World Showcase and World Celebration.

Choosing the Right Time to Arrive

As of publication, Harmonious is currently offered at 9:45 PM each day, every day, regardless of day of week. For the most up-to-date Harmonious fireworks showtime info, check My Disney Experience the morning of your visit to EPCOT.

Unlike Disney Enchantment and Fantasmic!, viewing locations don’t fill to capacity, leaving you without a spot to view. But you really want an incredible view of the ring or the barges , with no one in front of you, you’ll want to stake your claim to a waterfront railing spot an hour or more before showtime. If you want a seat on a bench away from the water, that’s also probably a good rule of thumb. But you’ll still get a pretty decent view of the fireworks from further back if you show up just as the show is starting!

Should You See Harmonious?

This might be my favorite show at WDW, but that doesn’t mean it has to be everyone’s cup of tea. If you’re a fan of fireworks, want to see cool new technology, enjoy Disney music, want to celebrate global cultures, and love messages of unity of the human spirit (and your family can stay up for a 10 PM+ bedtime without hitting meltdown-o-clock), see the show!

If you’d rather sneak on one last ride, close out your night a La Cava del Tequila, or spend extra time staring into the Spaceship Earth Beacon of Magic , go for it! Choose your own adventure, EPCOTstyle!

Best Viewing Spots for Luminous Fireworks at EPCOT

This EPCOT fireworks viewing guide highlights the best & worst viewing spots for Luminous: The Symphony of Us fireworks at Walt Disney World, which replaced Harmonious. Here we will provide some general tips about the best locations, and point out the best of these on a map of World Showcase. ( Updated January 24, 2024 .)

I’ve watched and photographed EPCOT’s fireworks way too many times and can say that not all viewing spots were created equally. For this post, I’m going to highlight my 5 favorite spots (see map below), along with some alternatives to those spots, and general discussions about choosing a spot for watching the EPCOT fireworks.

What we recommend doing is grabbing dinner from one of the best EPCOT counter service restaurants or festival food booths in World Showcase around about 8:15 pm. After that, stake out one of these spots, enjoy your meal, as well as the pre-fireworks ambiance along the promenade and in World Showcase lagoon…

Choosing a prime location for EPCOT’s fireworks is actually easier said than done, as certain variables, such as the direction of the wind and where there might be fireworks dessert parties or private events that eliminate potential viewings areas as options for regular park guests change often

Unfortunately, unlike my  Best Magic Kingdom Fireworks Viewing Spots post, which contained an easy to follow map with color coded areas of good, bad, and okay spots from which to watch Happily Ever After, the same really isn’t possible for EPCOT. This is because within a span of 10 feet, you might have both an awesome and awful viewing spot, due to trees, food carts, or other obstructions.

The latest update to this viewing guide comes after we’ve had several opportunities to watch Luminous: The Symphony of Us. This is the newest nighttime spectacular at Walt Disney World as of 2024; it’s the permanent replacement for Harmonious and the interim EPCOT Forever fireworks.

We mention both of those past shows because Luminous is somewhere in between the two in terms of viewing difficulty. In its return, EPCOT Forever was almost entirely high-level pyro with next-to-nothing on the lagoon itself. Accordingly, our prior advice was that you had a good-enough view of the fireworks so long as you could see the sky. EPCOT Forever was very low stakes and easy to see.

By contrast, Harmonious had a lot of low-level action that almost necessitated a front row view along the water’s edge. Not just that, either, as it had screens consisting of a giant Stargate and water tacos (for lack of better terms) that were only viewable from certain angles. Watching Harmonious proved a challenge, as certain angles were far more satisfying than others.

Like Harmonious, Luminous has barges on the lagoon and beautiful fountains and other effects rising out of those that you’ll want to be able to see. Unlike Harmonious, there are no screens in Luminous. Accordingly, there is nothing that you’re going to miss if watching Luminous from a certain spot. There are no “wrong” angles for the new nighttime spectacular.

In the most simple terms, if you can see the sky and you can see the water, you’re in pretty good shape for Luminous: The Symphony of Us. To be sure, there are some views of water and sky that are better than others for Luminous, but we’re talking incremental gains rather than outcome-determinative ones.

You won’t miss anything major with Luminous in one spot versus another, which was not necessarily something that could be said about Harmonious or even our beloved IllumiNations.

There is one minor exception to this, which is that we now prefer spots that also afford a view of Spaceship Earth. This isn’t a hard recommendation, but it is worth noting that the Beacons of Magic are now integrated into some segments of Luminous: The Symphony of Us.

For the most part, this is a little thing–a minor enhancement that’s like the cherry on top. Many guests may not even notice, as Spaceship Earth is in the background, and the Beacons of Magic are best enjoyed up close from within World Celebration (the front of the park). However, longtime EPCOT fans will appreciate this enhancement. In particular, the nods to IllumiNations are a brilliant touch. That’s just us, though. If it’s your first visit to EPCOT, we wouldn’t recommend camping out longer for a view that has Spaceship Earth in the background.

With that in mind, we do have favorite spots for viewing Luminous: The Symphony of Us. In no particular order ( numbers refer to the map at the bottom )…

#1 – Front of the House: The best view of the show is known informally as the “Front of the House,” and is located between the two gift shops at the entrance to World Showcase.

Note that this area is often reserved seating for special events. On other occasions, such as during the 2024 EPCOT Festival of Arts, there’s a giant performance stage that makes the dead-on view completely obstructed. In these scenarios, shift towards Mexico in the area behind the Disney Traders gift shop.

When available and unobstructed, I’m a fan of the Front of the House spot not only because it’s a centered viewing but also because it doesn’t require a front row spot for a great view. In fact, you’re better off towards the back (ignore the crowd that congregates up front) because of the way the area becomes elevated as you move away from the rail.

#2 – Mitsukoshi Department Store: This spot is a great combination of great and unique views. This view is available from the second story of the Mitsukoshi Department Store in the Japan pavilion, right outside the Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya (formerly Tokyo Dining) windows.

The torii at the edge of the water in Japan does obstruct the view a bit, but it also makes for more interesting photos, as does the elevated perspective. Word has really gotten out about this location (and it’s incredibly popular with photographers), so even though it’s off the beaten path, don’t expect to be able to show up here at the last minute.

This location in Japan often fills up ~45 minutes before the fireworks, so it does require a bit of a commitment–and one that may not be entirely necessary unless you want the perfect  elevated vantage for photos of the EPCOT fireworks. If you don’t care as much about photos, you can easily show up at the last minute and grab a great spot in the open courtyard or even an elevated one on the steps.

Ground level back deeper in Japan anywhere between the pagoda and department store provides a great view, with the torii gate in the foreground as an interesting photo-framing element. This is our new go-to last minute spot, and we typically snag somewhere here at the very last minute right after dining at Katsura Grill.

We love doing this because there’s rarely anyone else within 10 feet of us. It’s a perfect and somewhat secluded spot that requires minimal effort to snag. Above is the approximate view from this area, which we think is pretty good!

Some days, you can get a front-row spot at the water’s edge by the torii less than 30 minutes before the show. We also love this spot, and it’s often overlooked because guests assume it’s obstructed. It’s not. So long as you can see the barges, you have a perfect view of Luminous. We do recommend watching slightly off-center, to the right side of the torii ( see the top photo in this post for the perfect spot ).

Having a view of Spaceship Earth plus the range of options elevates Japan to our #1 recommendation for watching Luminous: The Symphony of Us. No matter how early or late you opt to arrive to secure a spot, there will be  something  that’s pretty good. Show up 30+ minutes in advance and you might be able to get a front-row spot on the second story of the department store. Roll up 30 seconds before Luminous, and there still should be something that’s fairly good, too. Japan also never hosts dessert or private parties, making it less of a wildcard.

#3 – France Bridge: The bridge between the United Kingdom and France is an incredibly popular spot and you’ll see people camping out here well before the Luminous fireworks begin. The France Bridge is a good spot because it provides a bit of elevation and an unobstructed view.

The biggest downside is that it’s often packed, and arguably not worth the wait or crowds on busier nights in EPCOT. Additionally, the location is a bit farther back than any of the other waterfront spots, making you feel a little less like you’re a part of the action.

For Luminous, we actually prefer the waterfront areas to the left and right of this bridge.

Try for the the lagoon seating area behind the Yorkshire County Fish Shop or Rose & Crown in the United Kingdom pavilion for stellar waterfront seating. Alternatively, the area to the right on the little island between the two bridges ( view above ) is up close and fantastic. The only problem with this area is that around half the time it’s closed for private parties. If it’s available, we highly recommend it. Note that this area is tiered–take the stairs all the way down to the lagoon level.

#4 – Mexico: This isn’t nearly as specific as the other recommendations on this list, but that’s because there is no single spot in Mexico that stands out. Rather, there are several really good spots, plus the entire area between Norway and Mexico, as it has little in the way of obstructions.

The best spots in Mexico are La Hacienda (the restaurant with the best view in World Showcase) and near the boat dock (if you’re lucky, you may actually be able to watch  from  the boat dock, as some guests are selected to sit out there each night).

#5 – Italy Isola – One of my absolute favorite spots for EPCOT’s fireworks is the Italy Isola, which is the raised part of the Italy pavilion near World Showcase Lagoon that juts out towards the water. It’s a very immersive location that feels close to the action. The photo above demonstrates the immersion of this area, but not really how great of a view it is.

Just one minor problem: it hosts private events about half the time. If you’re wanting to watch from this area but a dessert party is taking place, typically there will be some “free” space off to the left side (towards the American Adventure) that has nearly as good of a view. The only problem here is that it’s a small space and can be competitive. Still a great spot, and one that offers a clear view of the lagoon level and pyro in Luminous.

Or, you can simply step back a bit deeper in the Italy pavilion and still have a great view of the pyro. Along with the Japan pavilion, deeper in the Italy pavilion is a great low-stakes, last-minute spot for watching the fireworks away from the crowds!

There are other good locations for watching EPCOT’s fireworks all around World Showcase Lagoon, and really anywhere that offers a reasonably clear view to the center of World Showcase Lagoon is going to be perfectly fine–especially if you’re primary there for pyro and not low-level effects.

Other large areas of unobstructed viewing include Canada–even the elevated area in Canada isn’t half bad, Rose & Crown’s seating area, and portions of the waterfront between China and the Outpost.

One final bonus “spot” is really not a single spot at all, but rather, anywhere deeper in the World Showcase pavilions. If you step away from the rail at the edge of World Showcase Lagoon, you’ll get away from crowds and can have some potentially interesting photos of different parts of the world with fireworks exploding overhead.

With a lot of these spots, you’ll have far more breathing room and enjoy the show in a more intimate setting, and don’t really compromise much in terms of what you can see. Most guests flock to the railings, and those definitely offer a better view, but it’s not a huge advantage if all you care about is fireworks.

To that point, most of the pyro is visible even from the front of the park! The easiest location is simply straight backwards from World Showcase Lagoon, stopping before you get to the monorail track. This will also make leaving the park easier, as you’ll beat the crowd exiting. Just don’t try to watch up by Spaceship Earth, as it will mostly block the view of the fireworks.

The bottom line is that Luminous: The Symphony of Us fireworks are now much easier to see and significantly lower stakes than Harmonious or IllumiNations before it. This nighttime spectacular is definitely worth watching, but whether you want to camp out ~30 minutes in advance for a great spot with a view of the fountains and other effects  or  show up last-minute and simply be able to see the sky and hear the score is really up to you. While a bit more effort will be rewarded with enhancements, they’re relatively minor. The bottom line is that there’s no “wrong” way to watch Luminous. That is arguably the new nighttime spectacular’s biggest strengths over its predecessors!

Hi Tom, Have you experienced any of the dining packages for fireworks viewing yet? I was considering those since I’ll be with my 75 year old mother

I booked the Epcot firework cruise for my family of 6 as a surprise-. We arrived at the yacht club and boarded ( it actually can seat up to 10) snacks a soda was provided . We were driven around for about an hour before our very friendly captain parked up directly in front of the fireworks which provide a perfect view . It was one of the best memories off our holiday , my grandchildren loved it – if you are considering the firework cruise you won’t be disappointed & in my view much more cost effective and better experience than the dessert parties.

Are there good spots to view Epcot Forever from the Crescent Lake area, a la the Poly beach for MK fireworks?

I laughed at the “water tacos” description; albeit fitting. Do the NYE countdown fireworks use the stargate and tacos?

I am curious if you are aware of any handicap locations for viewing the fireworks, in both Epcot and Magic Kingdom. We are going over NYE this year and want to be prepared for where to go instead of walking around aimlessly trying to ask a cast member who may likely direct us in the wrong direction. Thanks!!

We sat near Norway and it was nice. I was able to find a bench for my mother who is in her 60’s to wait at until the show started. We got our spot about 1 hour ahead of time. All other straight on spots were taken well before that!

Where are the best spots if you are not inside Epcot?

What is the viewing like from the boats that you can reserve? We will be celebrating a birthday and the boat reservation looks like a great way to celebrate. Thoughts?

Harmonious is the new EPCOT fireworks spectacle. The show integrates, laser lights, neon, music, and fireworks in a stirring tribute to the nations of the world. It’s the climax of every EPCOT day, and not to be missed. Harmonious replaced the long-running-guest-favorite IllumiNations .

Getting Out of EPCOT after Harmonious (Read This before Selecting a Viewing Spot)

Harmonious ends the day at EPCOT. When it’s over, only a couple of gift shops remain open. Because there’s nothing to do, everyone leaves at once. This creates a great snarl at Package Pick-Up, the EPCOT monorail station, and the Disney bus stop. It also pushes to the limit the tram system hauling guests to their cars in the parking lot. It’s important, then, to decide how quickly you want to leave the park after the show, and then pick your vantage point.

If you’re staying at an EPCOT resort (Swan, Dolphin, Yacht & Beach Club Resorts, and BoardWalk Inn & Villas), watch the show from somewhere on the southern (US Pavilion) half of World Showcase Lagoon, then leave through the International Gateway between France and the United Kingdom. You can walk or take a boat back to your hotel from the International Gateway. If you have a car and you’re visiting EPCOT in the evening for dinner and Harmonious , park at the Yacht Club or Beach Club. After the show, duck out the International Gateway and be on the road to your hotel in 15 minutes.

The same plan works for those at Caribbean Beach, Pop Century, or Art of Animation, where you can use the International Gateway to board the Skyliner. The line will be long if you aren't near the Gateway, but it moves steadily.

If you’re staying at any other Disney hotel and you don’t have a car, the fastest way home is to join the mass exodus through the main gate after Harmonious and catch a bus or the monorail.

Those who have a car in the EPCOT lot have a more problematic situation. To beat the crowd, find a viewing spot at the end of World Showcase Lagoon nearest Future World (and the exits). Leave as soon as the show concludes, trying to exit ahead of the crowd (note that thousands of people will be doing exactly the same thing). To get a good vantage point between Mexico and Canada on the northern end of the lagoon, stake out your spot 60–100 minutes before the show (45–90 minutes during less-busy periods), or use FastPass+. Otherwise, you may squander more time holding your spot before Harmonious than you would if you watched from the less-congested southern end of the lagoon and took your chances with the crowd upon departure.

More groups get separated and more kids get lost following Harmonious than at any other time. In summer, you’ll be walking in a throng of up to 30,000 people. If you’re heading for the parking lot, anticipate this congestion and preselect a point in the EPCOT entrance area where you can meet if someone gets separated from the group. We recommend the fountain just inside the main entrance.

For those with a car, the main problem is reaching the parking lot. Once you’re there, traffic leaves the parking lot pretty well. If you paid close attention to where you parked, consider skipping the tram and walking. If you walk, watch your children closely and hang on to them for all they’re worth—the parking lot is pretty wild at this time of night, with hundreds of moving cars.

Best EPCOT Fireworks Viewing Location

The best place to be for any presentation on World Showcase Lagoon is in a seat on the lakeside veranda of the La Cantina de San Angel in Mexico. Come early (at least 90 minutes before Harmonious ) and relax with a cold drink or snack while you wait for the show.

La Hacienda de San Angel in Mexico, the Rose & Crown Pub in the United Kingdom, and Spice Road Table in Morocco also have lagoon-side seating. Because of a small wall, however, the view isn't quite as good as from the Cantina.

If you want to combine dinner at either location with Harmonious , make a dinner reservation for about 1 hour and 15 minutes before showtime. Report a few minutes early for your seating and tell the host that you want a table outside where you can view Harmonious during or after dinner. Our experience is that the staff will bend over backward to accommodate you. If you aren't able to obtain a table outside, eat inside, then hang out until showtime. When the lights dim, indicating the start of Harmonious , you'll be allowed to join the diners to watch the show.

Because most guests run for the exits after a presentation, and because islands in the southern (US Pavilion) half of the lagoon block the view from some places, the most popular spectator positions are along the northern waterfront from Norway and Mexico on around to Canada and the United Kingdom. Although the northern half of the lagoon unquestionably offers excellent viewing, it's usually necessary to claim a spot 60-100 minutes before Harmonious begins.

For those who are late finishing dinner or don’t want to spend an hour or more standing by a rail, here are some good viewing spots along the southern perimeter (moving counterclockwise from the United Kingdom to Germany) that often go unnoticed until 10–30 minutes before showtime:

• International Gateway Island. The pedestrian bridge across the canal near International Gateway spans an island that offers great viewing. This island normally fills 30 minutes or more before showtime.
• Second-floor (Restaurant-level) Deck of the Mitsukoshi Building in Japan. An Asian arch slightly blocks your sight line, but this covered deck offers a great vantage point, especially if the weather is iffy. Only La Hacienda de San Angel in Mexico is more protected. If you take up a position on the Mitsukoshi deck and find the wind blowing directly at you, you can be reasonably sure that the smoke from the fireworks won’t be far behind.
• Gondola Landing at Italy. An elaborate waterfront promenade offers excellent viewing. Claim a spot at least 30 minutes before showtime.
• The Boat Dock Opposite Germany. Another good vantage point, the dock generally fills 30 minutes before Harmonious . Note: This area may be exposed to more smoke from the fireworks because of Epcot's prevailing winds.
• Waterfront Promenade by Germany. Views are good from the 90-foot-long lagoon-side walkway between Germany and China.

None of the EPCOT fireworks viewing locations are reservable, and good spots go early on busier nights. But speaking personally, we refuse to hold down a slab of concrete for 2 hours before Harmonious as some people do. Most nights, you can find an acceptable vantage point 15–30 minutes before the show. Don’t position yourself under a tree, an awning, or anything that blocks your overhead view.

Everything We Know About EPCOT’s NEW Fireworks Show

Can you believe it?! It’s almost time!

December 5th is the day! It’s a huge day for EPCOT because it’s the premiere of Luminous: The Symphony of Us ! We’ve been following the news on this new nighttime spectacular all year and now as we’re less than a month away, let’s go over all we know about it!

Luminous: The Symphony of Us will have its first performance at EPCOT on December 5th, 2023!!

We know, from Disney, that the show is meant to “reflect the commonality in all of us,”  and that the show invites  “everyone to gather around World Showcase Lagoon for a show that will unite us through commonalities of the heart in a dazzling display of fireworks, lasers, music and light. Featuring an original composition along with select songs from the Disney songbook, this new spectacular will remind us that we’re more alike than different, connecting our hearts together as one.”

Luminous Barges in World Showcase Lagoon

This new dramatic show is located in World Showcase at EPCOT and will feature a pageantry of fireworks, fountains, music, and lights set to original composition. The show will feature new music mixed in with Disney classics in an effort to remind audiences that “we are more alike than we are different.” Luminous will be replacing  EPCOT Forever .

Luminous promises to be a special communal event that brings the audience together with an overhead spectacle, possibly making it a must-attend on day one.

Luminous will feature a series of movements, and throughout those movements, you’ll hear two original songs, as well as new arrangements of classic Disney songs . The show begins with voices from around the World Showcase welcoming you to the gathering, followed by the original song, “Heartbeat Symphony.” Disney shared a preview of this new song.

Disney also shared a list of songs that will be included in the show:

• “You’ll Be in My Heart”
• “Proud Corazón”
• “You’ve Got a Friend in Me”
• “Friend Like Me”
• “So Close” (from  Enchanted )
• “When She Loved Me”
• “Remember Me”
• “Into the Unknown”
• “I See the Light”

After those songs, the show ends with another original number for the finale — “Beating of Our Hearts.” Disney worked with Pinar Toprak to make the score, which features the vocal talents of artists Sheléa and Katharine McPhee.

Look, I loved Illuminations as much as anyone, probably more than most. But for as great as it was (and it was great) it was time for something new. EPCOT is all about looking forward, not holding on to the past. I was deeply saddened to see it go but was looking forward to what came next. Harmonious was amazing, but it left way too soon. So, I’m eagerly looking forward to Luminous. I listened to the sneak preview of the music, and I was blown away! I REALLY REALLY want to be there on Tuesday night, but I have to work, But I will be there Thursday night, ready to be wowed!!

For the first time Rosatom Fuel Division supplied fresh nuclear fuel to the world’s only floating nuclear cogeneration plant in the Arctic

The fuel was supplied to the northernmost town of Russia along the Northern Sea Route.

The first in the history of the power plant refueling, that is, the replacement of spent nuclear fuel with fresh one, is planned to begin before 2024. The manufacturer of nuclear fuel for all Russian nuclear icebreakers, as well as the Akademik Lomonosov FNPP, is Machinery Manufacturing Plant, Joint-Stock Company (MSZ JSC), a company of Rosatom Fuel Company TVEL that is based in Elektrostal, Moscow Region.

The FNPP includes two KLT-40S reactors of the icebreaking type. Unlike convenient ground-based large reactors (that require partial replacement of fuel rods once every 12-18 months), in the case of these reactors, the refueling takes place once every few years and includes unloading of the entire reactor core and loading of fresh fuel into the reactor.

The cores of KLT-40 reactors of the Akademik Lomonosov floating power unit have a number of advantages compared to the reference ones: a cassette core was used for the first time in the history of the unit, which made it possible to increase the fuel energy resource to 3-3.5 years between refuelings, and also reduce the fuel component of the electricity cost by one and a half times. The FNPP operating experience formed the basis for the designs of reactors for nuclear icebreakers of the newest series 22220. Three such icebreakers have been launched by now.

For the first time the power units of the Akademik Lomonosov floating nuclear power plant were connected to the grid in December 2019, and put into commercial operation in May 2020. The supply of nuclear fuel from Elektrostal to Pevek and its loading into the second reactor is planned for 2024. The total power of the Akademik Lomonosov FNPP, supplied to the coastal grid of Pevek without thermal energy consumption on shore, is about 76 MW, being about 44 MW in the maximum thermal power supply mode. The FNPP generated 194 million kWh according to the results of 2023. The population of Pevek is just a little more than 4 thousand, while the FNPP has a potential for supplying electricity to a city with a population of up to 100 thousand people. After the FNPP commissioning two goals were achieved. These include first of all the replacement of the retiring capacities of the Bilibino NPP, which has been operating since 1974, as well as the Chaunskaya TPP, which has already been operating for more than 70 years. Secondly, energy is supplied to the main mining companies in western Chukotka in the Chaun-Bilibino energy hub a large ore and metal cluster, including gold mining companies and projects related to the development of the Baimsk ore zone. In September 2023, a 110 kilovolt power transmission line with a length of 490 kilometers was put into operation, connecting the towns of Pevek and Bilibino. The line increased the reliability of energy supply from the FNPP to both Bilibino consumers and mining companies, the largest of which is the Baimsky GOK. The comprehensive development of the Russian Arctic is a national strategic priority. To increase the NSR traffic is of paramount importance for accomplishment of the tasks set in the field of cargo shipping. This logistics corridor is being developed due regular freight voyages, construction of new nuclear-powered icebreakers and modernization of the relevant infrastructure. Rosatom companies are actively involved in this work. Rosatom Fuel Company TVEL (Rosatom Fuel Division) includes companies fabricating nuclear fuel, converting and enriching uranium, manufacturing gas centrifuges, conducting researches and producing designs. As the only nuclear fuel supplier to Russian NPPs, TVEL supplies fuel for a total of 75 power reactors in 15 countries, for research reactors in nine countries, as well as for propulsion reactors of the Russian nuclear fleet. Every sixth power reactor in the world runs on TVEL fuel. Rosatom Fuel Division is the world’s largest producer of enriched uranium and the leader on the global stable isotope market. The Fuel Division is actively developing new businesses in chemistry, metallurgy, energy storage technologies, 3D printing, digital products, and decommissioning of nuclear facilities. TVEL also includes Rosatom integrators for additive technologies and electricity storage systems. Rosenergoatom, Joint-Stock Company is part of Rosatom Electric Power Division and one of the largest companies in the industry acting as an operator of nuclear power plants. It includes, as its branches, 11 operating NPPs, including the FNPP, the Scientific and Technical Center for Emergency Operations at NPPs, Design and Engineering as well as Technological companies. In total, 37 power units with a total installed capacity of over 29.5 GW are in operation at 11 nuclear power plants in Russia. Machinery Manufacturing Plant, Joint-Stock Company (MSZ JSC, Elektrostal) is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of fuel for nuclear power plants. The company produces fuel assemblies for VVER-440, VVER-1000, RBMK-1000, BN-600,800, VK-50, EGP-6; powders and fuel pellets intended for supply to foreign customers. It also produces nuclear fuel for research reactors. The plant belongs to the TVEL Fuel Company of Rosatom.

Rosatom develops nuclear fuel for modernized floating power units

Rosatom has completed the development of nuclear fuel for the RITM-200S small modular reactor designed for the upgraded floating power units.

The FNPP includes two KLT-40S reactor units. In such reactors, nuclear fuel is not replaced in the same way as in standard NPPs – partial replacement of fuel once every 12-18 months. Instead, once every few years the entire reactor core is replaced with and a full load of fresh fuel.

The KLT-40S reactor cores have a number of advantages compared with standard NPPs. For the first time, a cassette core was used, which made it possible to increase the fuel cycle to 3-3.5 years before refuelling, and also reduce by one and a half times the fuel component in the cost of the electricity produced. The operating experience of the FNPP provided the basis for the design of the new series of nuclear icebreaker reactors (series 22220). Currently, three such icebreakers have been launched.

The Akademik Lomonosov was connected to the power grid in December 2019, and put into commercial operation in May 2020.

Electricity generation from the FNPP at the end of 2023 amounted to 194 GWh. The population of Pevek is just over 4,000 people. However, the plant can potentially provide electricity to a city with a population of up to 100,000. The FNPP solved two problems. Firstly, it replaced the retiring capacities of the Bilibino Nuclear Power Plant, which has been operating since 1974, as well as the Chaunskaya Thermal Power Plant, which is more than 70 years old. It also supplies power to the main mining enterprises located in western Chukotka. In September, a 490 km 110 kilovolt power transmission line was put into operation connecting Pevek and Bilibino.
