Discovering the History and Future of Parle-G on an Industrial Tour

Parle-G is a popular biscuit brand in India, recognised for its low price and wonderful flavour. The company has been in business for almost 80 years and is well-known in many Indian households. An industrial tour of the Parle-G production facility is a good way to learn about the company’s history and future plans.

The tour begins with a brief overview of the company’s history, which dates back to its establishment in Bombay in 1929. The book contains fascinating tales about the company’s early days and how it rose to become one of India’s premier biscuit producers. Visitors may observe every stage of the Parle-G biscuit making process, from raw ingredients to the finished product.

The packaging room is the first stop on the tour, where guests can see how the cookies are packed using innovative technology. The packaging is intended to keep the biscuits fresh and safe to eat. Visitors may also witness how packaging has evolved through time to suit changing customer tastes and the most recent design trends.

The tour next goes to the manufacturing section, where guests can see the many machinery used to make Parle-G cookies. The basic components, which comprise flour, sugar, and other ingredients, are mixed first. After shaping the dough using a rotary moulder, it is cooked in a big oven.

Visitors may also see how the biscuits are quality controlled. To guarantee that the biscuits match the company’s high quality requirements, the inspection procedure combines human and computerised tests. Visitors may also learn about the various sorts of Parle-G cookies, such as its famed glucose biscuits and other popular variants such as Hide & Seek, KrackJack, and Monaco.

The research and development centre is one of the most exciting aspects of the trip, where guests can learn how the corporation innovates to match changing consumer tastes and preferences. The facility is outfitted with cutting-edge technology and equipment, and a team of skilled scientists and technicians is hard at work developing new and creative goods.

The tour also emphasises the company’s dedication to sustainability and environmental stewardship. The Parle-G business has undertaken many carbon-reduction efforts, including the use of solar energy and rainwater collecting. Visitors may witness these measures in action and learn more about the company’s overall environmental aims and practises.

The trip culminates with a stop at the Parle-G museum, where visitors may learn more about the company’s history and legacy. The museum includes exhibits and displays that highlight the company’s products, marketing activities, and contributions to the Indian food and beverage sector. Visitors may also see how the Parle-G brand and its famous packaging have evolved through time.

In conclusion, the industrial tour of Parle-production G’s facilities is an excellent method to learn about the company’s history and future plans. It provides an opportunity to learn about the manufacturing process, the most recent industry advancements, and the company’s commitment to sustainability. This tour is a must-see for any student, foodie, or someone interested in the food and beverage sector.

4 reasons why industrial visits are important for students

Pankhuri Bhardwaj · July 3, 2020

factory visit for students mumbai

UPES industrial visits are one of their kind – enriching experiences focussed on networking and learning practical lessons about work processes and business functions

Industrial visits are a great learning platform for students. They bridge the gap between classroom learning and practical working conditions. At UPES, there is a lot of emphasis on holistic learning. Industrial visits are, therefore, a crucial part of the university’s curriculum as they provide a practical perspective of the workplace environment to students.

I truly cherish my three-day industrial visit to Mumbai, which took place in January 2020 as part of my BBA General Management program . The trip was with my 52 classmates and our faculty members Ms. Preeti Aneja, Dr. Nitesh Adichwal and Dr. Deepak Bangwal to the city of dreams.

To help us understand the significance of industry-academia connection, our mentors ensured that we gave our 100% attention and effort in absorbing all the knowledge being shared with us.

Here are the four reasons why this trip was an enriching experience:

Bonds forever

From Dehradun to landing at the Mumbai airport, the endless chitchat, grabbing seats together in buses and planes to taking selfies at every location, made for happy memories and helped us foster bonds for life.

The bus games and late-night conversations with the faculty were such a delight. It made us see a new side of our faculty members – complete fun and equally caring at the same time. I also realised that there is a hidden talent in each one of us.

Industrial exposure

We visited two companies, Godrej & Boyce and Fork Media.

The industrial visits were truly about learning beyond the books. We visited the production units, interacted with managers, team leaders and supervisors. We listened to their experiences, their journey and the hard work they had put in to reach this pinnacle of success.

Fun unlimited

We started with the central mall of Navi Mumbai where we all could shop, play, eat, and relax. We visited almost all the popular places in the city within our reach like the Gateway of India, Juhu Beach and Marine Drive. We thoroughly enjoyed the boat rides, the street food and the sunsets.

Employability enhancement

During our interaction with the HR managers and CEO of the companies, we expressed our willingness to intern and work with them.

The mentors of the industries liked our batch and offered us assistance for future internships and placements . They connected with us via their social media handles like LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook. The industrial visits proved to be a great platform for networking.

I am grateful for this opportunity that helped me see the world in a different and realistic manner. Thanks to my alma mater, UPES, for planning it so well and adding value to my BBA journey.

Manufacturing Industry

Industrial Visits and Production Tours- for Holistic Learning

L K Monu Borkala

  • What are industrial visits?
  • Importance of industrial visits for students

Industrial visits are now a part of the holistic educational process. Educational institutions are now realising the importance of industrial visits for college students.

So much so, the curriculum has now evolved to include industrial visits in the course syllabus.

What Are Industrial Visits and Why Industrial Visits Are Important?

Industrial visits are tours to manufacturing, production or business sites. They can be for a short duration of time lasting for just a few hours in a day, to long tours spreading over a few days.

The objectives of industrial visits are to establish a link between theory taught in a classroom and actual practical concepts .

The importance of industrial visits for college students cannot be undermined. Industrial visits contribute to the holistic learning development of students. Let’s look at some of the reasons why industrial visits are important.

1. Eliminates Misconceptions

false mark

Students may have certain pre-conceived notions based on what they see on television or hear through peer group stories. Having industrial tours can help students get the right perspective of the working of an industry.

2. First-Hand Experience

One of the reasons why industrial visits are important is because it gives first-hand experience of the work atmosphere in an industry.

Students can witness live events and activities in a business space through industrial visits.

3. Reduces the Learning Gap

A brick-and-mortar type of learning can offer only limited knowledge to students. Combining industrial visits and production tours with classroom teaching can fill the learning gap.

Students will be able to combine theoretical knowledge with practical experiences and use this additional knowledge to build their skills. This is why industrial visits for college students is important

4. Encourages Active Learning

Another importance of industrial visits for students is that it encourages active learning. Classroom learning requires sitting for long hours throughout the lecture.

However, on industrial visits students take tours of the different departments of the industry. Here, students walk and observe each department. Students become attentive and vigilant during industrial tours.

5. Improves Technical Know-How

One of the learning outcomes of industrial visits is that it improves technical know-how. Students can now observe the live working mechanisms of machinery and equipment.

Textbooks only provide a written procedure of the working of machines, but industrial visits can offer live demonstrations. These live demonstrations improve the technical knowledge of students.

6. Insight Into the Future

Future

7. Encourages Students to Study

Believe it or not but one of the reasons why industrial visits are important is because it encourages students to study. This happens in two ways

  • Some students are so mesmerised by the working of an industry that they too want to work in a similar place after college. This desire encourages them to study hard to get into an industry of their choice.
  • Similarly, students are encouraged to study hard after an industrial visit because of the interest that the industrial visit has kindled in them. On an industrial visit, students learn a lot of practical concepts. These practical concepts can kindle the interest of students in certain subjects.

8. Answers Directly from The Horse’s Mouth

The importance of industrial visits for students can be seen in the fact that students can directly clear any concept doubts that they may have, directly from the management or the person in charge.

In a classroom, the teacher will clear doubts of students . However, this information is limited to textbook information.

On industrial visits, students can clear doubts from the people directly working on the concerned matter.

9. Easy Identification of The Area of Interest

An industry has many departments. Each department works in coordination with each other to fulfil the objectives of the business. Every business or industry has more or less the following departments

  • Administration

Site visits demonstrate the working of all these departments. Students can get an idea about which department they would like to pursue a career in. They get a rough picture of their prospective job .

10. Witness Change in Policies

Different companies follow different company policies to achieve their goals . Through industrial visits, students can witness different policies of the companies and why they choose to follow these policies.

Inculcation of industrial visits in undergraduate and post-graduate courses is a part of interactive learning in Top universities in India . The benefits of such initiatives are as follows.

1. Interact and learn from experts in the industry:

The Industrial visits help students to meet and get influenced by the industry leaders, policymakers, and professionals and experience their share of wisdom and learning. It gives them a precise understanding of how the actual industry works and also helps them to get inspired by their management skills and leadership qualities. It equips students to get hands-on training on the latest technologies and trends in the industry.

2. Opens new venues for learning by seeing:

The industrial visits offer an opportunity for students to experience the real machines, workstations, systems, plants, assembly lines, etc., and get to learn how the system works from the experienced experts in the industry. Such practical training is important for students who have always been learning through imagination. The students also get to learn about the production and operational policies of the company and can relate to them from what they have learned in the curriculum.

3. Learning management concepts:

During the industrial visits, students get to learn how professionals perform at work and they implement certain industry-specific concepts such as benchmarking, quality analysis, just-in-time production, etc. They get to learn how professionals handle hundreds of workers at the same time, but still maintain the quality norms and targets of the organization. They also learn how the different segments of professionals such as workers, engineers, and managers work in harmony to achieve a common target.

4. Improves their job prospects:

Students can utilize the opportunities of industrial visits to build good relationships with the companies. It can help them while seeking jobs and while approaching these organizations for training and internships. Positive interaction between the students and the HR managers of the organization can help them in their future job hunt.

5. Helps them explore the other end of the horizon:

Students who have been always attending lecture sessions of the concepts, can now take a break from the monotony and engage in practical learning. They get a chance to learn out of the four walls of the classroom and have a free conversation with the faculty members and the industry experts. This helps to prepare them for their future.

Bottom Line:

The industrial visits serve as the first point of interaction between the student and the working industry they belong to. It serves as a platform for students to enhance their interpersonal skills and students should make the best use of these trips to enhance their intellect.

Our skilled Program Leaders are certified in wilderness medicine and/or CPR and receive extensive training online and in-country. We maintain a student-to-leader ratio of no more than fifteen-to-one. All countries also have comprehensive safety and risk management plans to address potential issues. We offer 24-7-365 emergency response coverage for students and their families and partner with International SOS, the leading provider of emergency travel services. In addition, our dedicated health and safety team ensures all programs are actively monitored.

As a part of our Risk Assessment we carefully examine what could cause harm to members of the Group, so that you can consider whether you have taken enough precautions or should do more to prevent harm. Within the context of travel involving groups of children, teenagers and / or adults, a risk assessment sits alongside a group management plan. In other words, the means by which leaders ensure their group arrive home safely. Accident, Hazard, Likelihood, Impact, Control Measures

We take students to remote destinations, expose them to unfamiliar surroundings, and encourage personal growth through exploration. When conducted responsibly, these experiences transform students in ways that are impossible to replicate inside the classroom, and for this reason, the health and safety measures we take are a fundamental part of our travel programs.

Happymiles Select Restaurant/Chef prepare meals and are trained to make necessary adjustments for specific dietary needs and allergies. Some meals will take place at trusted local restaurants. All water is bottled or purified.

Many of our Program Leaders have backgrounds in teaching, experiential education, or international development. All full-time leaders are Wilderness First Responders and seasonal staff are First Aid and CPR certified—at a minimum. All Program Leaders receive additional specialized training annually in country before each summer travel season begins.

Our Program Staffing Team also conducts a four-month vetting process for applicants to identify the most talented and passionate Program Leaders.

Happymiles audits all external vendors and partners regularly to assess whether they are reputable and safe. We review business infrastructure, hiring and training processes, and emergency management systems. All accommodation, transportation, and activity vendors and partners meet happymiles safety standards.

We work to create a safe environment for children and young adults and to protect them from harm, abuse, neglect, and exploitation in any form. All staff undergo comprehensive background checks and receive our annual child protection policy training. At Happymiles students also learn about child protection and how to interact with local children during their programs.

Top Educational field trips (ideas) for school students

November 15, 2017 by studymumbai Leave a Comment

nehru science centre entrance

Fun and educational field trips for school children provide students a memorable day outside of the school’s classroom.

Elementary field trips can be arranged to teach kids about science, business, animals and more. These trips can teach children important fundamentals outside of the classroom while staying safe on the field trip and having fun visiting one of these locations.

GET INSTANT HELP FROM EXPERTS!

Hire us as project guide/assistant . Contact us for more information

Planetarium The planetarium is an excellent way to introduce elementary students to the solar system. Students will love the shows and exhibits that will teach them about space and astronomy. Call the planetarium’s admission office to schedule a tour.

Aquarium You may visit the aquarium all the time. But have you ever been behind the closed doors of the aquarium? Many of the larger aquariums have more aquatic life on the premises than they can possibly display and they would be happy to take the kids on a private tour to show you how the aquarium works. Call the aquarium director’s office to set up a tour.

Factory (Aarey Milk) See how candy is made, cars, guitars, soda and more. There are factories all over the country that offer tours. Some are even free. Contact the factory directly to schedule a tour.

Zoo Taking a group of kids to see zoo animals is always fun. But you can also schedule a tour to see how the zoo’s staff works behind the scenes. Educational docents can give your tour group a one-on-one experience with all sorts of animals. Call the zoo’s front office to get more information.

Fire Station Kids will love touring a working fire station. Firefighters can show students the fire engine, turn on the sirens and educate the children on fire safety to keep your family safe. One of the most valuable lessons kids will learn is how a firefighter will look in full uniform, complete with mask, if he or she ever enters a burning house. Seeing firefighters fully dressed teaches kids that they don’t have to be scared. Call any local fire station and ask to speak to the station commander to set up a tour.

Police Station Tour the police station to learn crime prevention tips, how a police department functions, police equipment that’s used and how patrol cars work. Contact the station’s crime prevention officer.

Museum Any kind of museum presents an opportunity for kids to learn and have fun. Take the kids to art, children’s, natural history, technology and science museums, to name a few. The museum director can schedule your group for a behind-the-scenes tour.

Farm A farm is a great idea for a field trip because there are so many types of farms to visit. One week you can visit a dairy farm and visit with cows. The next week you can visit a crop farm to see how cotton, fruits, grains or vegetables are grown. Contact the farmers themselves to ask if your group can come out for a tour or call your state’s agricultural department to find out more about the types of farms in your city.

Veterinary Hospital Veterinarians are usually happy to show off their hospitals. Kids can see the operating rooms, equipment used, recovering patients and learn all about the field of veterinary medicine. Contact any veterinary hospital to set up a tour.

TV Station What goes into producing a newscast? Take the kids to a TV station to find out. Children can get a firsthand look at the sets, meet the TV personalities and see the many types of equipment used to get a newscast on the air. Many stations will even put the kids on the news just for dropping by. Call the program director to set up a tour.

Radio Station It’s easy to think a radio station and TV station would be too similar to tour. But you’ll notice a lot of differences when you visit both. You may even get to watch as the radio personalities play music or host a local call-in show. Contact the radio station’s program director and tell him you’re interested in a tour.

Newspaper The inner workings of the newspaper industry are something every child should see. Meet the reporters who write the stories, learn about the history of newspapers, see how newspapers are laid out and watch the newspaper roll off the printing presses. Call the city editor to let him know you’re interested in a private tour.

Hospital Hospital administrators have worked hard to arrange tours that introduce kids to the hospital environment without giving them a scary experience. This helps prepare them for what to expect should they ever need to visit a relative or become a patient themselves. It’s also an educational experience because children can see how the doctors and nurses work together and use high-tech medical equipment to treat their patients. Contact the hospital’s main number to request a tour. If your local hospital doesn’t allow in-person tours, type “hospital tours for kids” in your favorite search engine to take the children on a virtual field trip from home.

Library The system that keeps the library up and running is worthy of a field trip visit for kids. Kids not only develop a deeper appreciation for books, they also get to learn about the catalog system, how a book is entered into the system so it can start getting checked out and how the staff operates the library. Contact the head librarian at your local library branch to schedule a tour.

Movie Theater Kids love the movies so take them behind the scenes to see how a movie theater operates. They can visit the projection room, see how the concession stand operates and they may even get to sample a movie and popcorn. Call the movie theater manager to arrange a tour.

Because of concerns around the safety of students, most schools have decided to keep their educational field trips in the school itself. The students will have a 3-D movie show in the school along with the Children’s day celebration.

Mumbai Schools to take their students for educational / rural trip once every year

Taking into consideration the request of Maharashtra state tourism department, the state has requested schools to take their students for an educational or rural trip once every year, in order to give Maharashtra’s tourism policy a boost.

“Schools of all mediums and affiliated to all boards are being permitted to take students of class V to X on one educational or rural tour every year to help students learn about the history, geography, culture and other educational things by witnessing them first hand,” said Suvarna Kharat, deputy secretary, school education department in the GR.

While most schools in Mumbai take their students to amusement or water parks , there is nothing educational about it. A rural trip is something that should add value to a child’s learning.

Tt will not be compulsory for students to go for such trips though. The school have to take the consent of parents and students for any such trips organised.

However, parents are not happy with the order. The state has not mentioned anything related to safety of the students on such trips. Besides, parents will be forced to pay high charges on such trips, and some also fear that they will be forced to sign undertakings which state that they will not be responsible in case of a mishap.

Top 10 Places to Visit as a Student in Mumbai 2019

Mumbai is much more than the shimmer, glitter and glamour of so called ‘mayanagri’. Along with the sumptuous architecture and splendid culture, the ‘city of dreams’ has also enfolded the trend of perfect hanging out places in the past few years. Mumbai has long been known worldwide for its film and entertainment industry. Home to RK Films and Studios, the the yash raj studio and Bollywood Boulevard, this area delivers a wealth of famous sites. Once main center of art, culture, music, dance and theatre, Mumbai is now a dynamic, cosmopolitan city that has been running for so long hitherto, solely on the indomitable and resilient spirit of the Mumbaikars.Instead of shoppers at the mall, try gifting yourself an experience of visiting the rejuvenating places at Bombay. In a city so filled with icons of antiquity and the Marathi faith, it’s hard to decide the genesis of trip. Report ON INDUSTRIAL VISIT for MBA 1st Year students to “BISLERI”

Report of INDUSTRIAL VISIT for MBA 1st Year students to “BISLERI” Date: 21st October 2016 Venue: Sahibabad Industrial area, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh 201010, NearKaushambi Metro Station Delhi Technical Campus, Greater Noida affiliated to GGSIPU, organized an Industrial Visit for 1st year MBA students to Bisleri under the supervision of Mr. Deepak Bansal .  Industrial visits provide an excellent opportunity to interact with industries and know more about industrial environment. These visits are arranged by colleges to students with an objective of providing students functional opportunity in different sectors like IT, Manufacturing and services, finance and marketing. The main objective of the trip was to give first hand industrial exposure to students as to how a brand like Bisleri carries out its manufacturing activities. This Industrial Visit was directed towards understanding about Bisleri’s manufacturing capabilities and infrastructural competencies. The representative of Bisleri was Ms. Geetika .

The visit had four phases

  • AD of BISLERI shown
  • Company presentation.
  • Plant visit by the students facilitated by company officials.
  • Question answer session

The students asked their queries during the plant visit and clarified their doubts according to their specialization area as well.

Students were introduced to the history of organization, its vision, mission & business functions across the country. Through presentation students became aware of various facts related to the set-up. “Bisleri was “first introduced in Mumbai in 1965 by Bisleri pvt ltd , a company of Italian origin . This company was started by “Signor Felicia” BISLERI who first though the idea of selling bottled water in India. Parle bought over Bisleri (India) ltd in 1969 and started bottling water  under the brand name “BISLERI”. Students were explained the reason of changing the color of Bisleri from Blue to Green in year 2006. It was done to be different from Kinley and Aqua-fina. Vedica also came in year 2006 reinvented in 2012 and also to highlight the difference between packed green bottle Bisleri and Bisleri vedica. Bisleri vedica water comes from mountain and green bottle Bisleri comes from underground and both get filtered through sand and carbon filtration process.

The process of packaged water includes extracting water from the well, processing, ozonization and packaging. Social responsibilities are: They use PET bottles instead of plastic bottles because the pet bottles are converted into jeans, pillow, helps in making roads, footwear etc.

Products of Bisleri: • Packaged drinking water • Natural mineral water • Urza (Energy Drink) • ‘Bisleri POP’ in four flavours of soft drink yet to come in market.

After presentation the students were taken to Bisleri manufacturing plant which consists of 3 units-

  • Filtration of water,
  • manufacturing of bottles,
  • Filling and packaging of the same.

Throughout in the plant all are required to wear head and mouth masks to avoid contamination of the product. The students were also told about the unique pack sizes provided by Bisleri for the convenience of customers. They are 250ml, 1ltr, 2ltl bottles,5 ltr bottles ,15 ltr bottles and 20ltrbottles. The bottles are made using preforms, which go through a blowing process where the bottles attain the desired shapes and sizes. These bottles are then used for filling the purified water and are thenmechanically sealed and packaged.

This gave the students a deep insight into the production and methodology of Packaged drinking water that we drink very frequently. As evident Hygiene factor had been given the highest priority in the factory and its surroundings.  It gave the students exposure to current work practices as opposed to possibly theoretical knowledge being taught at college Industrial visit helps to combine theoretical knowledge with industrial knowledge.
