Ford Cars w/ Adaptive Cruise Control (19 Models: Full List)

Adaptive cruise control has been available mostly in luxury vehicles but is now common in many mainstream cars, including Ford.

The Ford cars, SUVs, and EVs in this post have adaptive cruise control or conventional cruise control system.

Check the corresponding tables to see the relevant model years when the system became available.

ford

Adaptive Cruise Control vs. Cruise Control

The more-basic cruise control in older Ford vehicles helps maintain a steady cruising speed for a relaxing highway drive.

Adaptive cruise control (ACC) enhances the conventional cruise control system by adjusting the car’s speed to match the vehicle ahead, slowing or accelerating accordingly in response to the driver’s set speed.

Newer Fords have the Co-Pilot360 technology, containing a suite of tech and safety features that keep the driver in command, including Ford Blue Cruise and Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control.

Rival mainstream car makers that produce popular SUV models with adaptive cruise control (ACC) include:

  • Toyota vehicles with ACC .
  • Kia vehicles with ACC .
  • Honda vehicles with ACC .
  • Hyundai vehicles with ACC .
  • Nissan vehicles with ACC .
  • Volkswagen vehicles with ACC .

Considering Ford’s strength in trucks and off-road four-wheel drives, the following manufacturers’ off-road capable vehicles with cruise control are worth checking out:

  • Ram vehicles with cruise control .
  • Jeep vehicles with cruise control .
  • GMC vehicles with cruise control .
  • Chevrolet vehicles with cruise control .

Ford Cars with Adaptive Cruise Control

#1 ford fiesta.

Most Ford Fiesta models from 2011 to 2019 had cruise control, including the SE, ST Line, and Titanium trims.

#2 Ford Focus

Most Ford Focus models in the higher trims from 2002 to 2018 had cruise control, including ST Line and Titanium.

Ford Focus in 2000 and 2001 with the Zetec engine did not have cruise control.

#3 Ford Mustang

This iconic coupe or convertible has been thrilling car enthusiasts for decades with its muscular powertrains and track-capable handling.

Cruise control has been standard for all Ford Mustangs since 2005, including the Mustang GT, Mach 1, Shelby GT350, and Shelby GT500.

Only the base model of the 2002, 2003, and 2004 Ford Mustang did not have the cruise control system.

No Ford Mustangs have the improved-spec adaptive cruise control.

Ford SUVs with Adaptive Cruise Control

#4 ford ecosport.

EcoSport is Ford’s smallest crossover, and the subcompact offers brand loyalists an opportunity to own an affordable Ford AWD .

Ford EcoSport has had the cruise control system as a standard provision since its 2018 debut.

Unfortunately, no Ford EcoSport has the more sophisticated adaptive cruise control.

#5 Ford Escape, Escape Hybrid, & Escape Plug-In Hybrid

In an ultra-competitive segment, the Ford Escape small SUV is a competent entrant, with a smooth ride and roomy interior among its notable pluses.

Ford offers the Escape SUV three powertrain options to broaden its appeal: gasoline-only, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid.

Since 2020, all Ford Escape models have had adaptive cruise control in the upper trims and conventional cruise control in the lower trims, including the Escape hybrid and Escape plug-in hybrid.

From 2009 to 2019, all Ford Escapes had standard cruise control, while older models only had the system in the higher trims.

2001 to 2008 Ford Escape models only had cruise control in the pricier trims.

#6 Ford Bronco Sport

The compact Bronco Sport represents the acceptable compromise if you want a more comfortable ride on-road and don’t need the larger, ultra-off-road-capable Bronco.

Most Ford Bronco Sport models have at least the conventional cruise control system, except for the pricier trims having the more-sophisticated adaptive cruise control from 2023 onwards.

#7 Ford Bronco

The Ford Bronco is one of the most capable 4WD off-roaders among midsize SUVs.

The 2021-revived Ford Bronco has had standard cruise control up to the latest model, with previous generations having none of the cruise-management systems.

No Ford Bronco has the more advanced adaptive cruise control.

#8 Ford Edge

Ford Edge is the American automaker’s two-row midsize SUV that travels better on-road than it goes off-road.

Since its 2007 introduction, Ford Edge has had the cruise control system as a standard provision.

No Ford Edge models have the sophisticated adaptive cruise control, unfortunately.

#9 Ford Explorer & Explorer Hybrid

This three-row midsize SUV is available in gas-only and hybrid powertrains.

Ford Explorers have had adaptive cruise control in the more-expensive trims and conventional cruise control in the basic trims since 2016.

From 2002 to 2015, Ford Explorers had standard cruise control; older models do not have the system.

#10 Ford Expedition

Though it’s the American company’s largest SUV with impressive towing capability, and is expectedly a comfortable highway cruiser, surprisingly, adaptive cruise control isn’t available across the range.

Ford only began making adaptive cruise control available in 2018 at the Expedition large SUV’s higher trims, which has stayed that way.

Ford Trucks with Adaptive Cruise Control

#11 ford maverick.

Ford Maverick compact truck has cruise control in the XLT and Lariat trims but not in the XL for 2022.

Pricier trims of the 2023 Ford Maverick have the more-advanced adaptive cruise control.

#12 Ford Ranger

This midsize pickup is easier to park than full-size trucks and has enough towing and hauling capacities for the average user.

All Ford Rangers have had cruise control since 2021, while the 2020 model only has the system in the higher trims; the 2019 Ford Ranger did not have cruise control.

No Ford Ranger has the comparatively more-sophisticated adaptive cruise control.

#13 Ford F-150 & F-150 Hybrid

Since 2021, most Ford F-150 models (including XL, XLT, and Lariat) have had at least the conventional cruise control system, except for King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited Hybrid trims with the more-sophisticated adaptive cruise control (ACC).

Ford F-150s from 2001 to 2020 only had basic cruise control in the more expensive trims; none had adaptive cruise control.

#14 Ford F-150 Raptor

Since its 2017 introduction, the Ford F-150 Raptor, with superior off-road chops, has had standard cruise control.

Unfortunately, the Ford F-150 Raptor does not have adaptive cruise control.

#15 Ford F-250

This full-size heavy-duty truck is the F-150 alternative if you need greater strength for heavier chores.

Most Ford F-250s have had cruise control since 2019, except for the Limited diesel trim with the higher-spec adaptive cruise control.

Opt for one of the higher trim levels if you want cruise control in Ford F-250s from 2001 to 2018.

#16 Ford F-350

Since 2020, most Ford F-350s have had cruise control, except for the more-expensive Limited and Platinum trims having the adaptive cruise control system.

Cruise control is only available in the higher trims of F-350 models from 2001 to 2019, like XLT, Lariat, and King Ranch when available.

#17 Ford F-450

Similar to the F-350, the Ford F-450 Super Duty has cruise control as a base provision and adaptive cruise control in the upper trims like Platinum and Limited.

Ford Van with Cruise Control

#18 ford transit passenger van.

Since 2019, most Ford Transit models have had cruise control, except for the more-basic trims where the system is optional.

Ford Electric Vehicle with Adaptive Cruise Control

#19 mustang mach-e.

Enthusiasts who desire the muscular Mustang coupe but wish for a more versatile body will find plenty of appeal in the Mustang Mach-E electric SUV.

All Ford Mustang Mach-E models have had standard adaptive cruise control since the electric SUV’s 2021 debut, including the Mach-E GT.

Which Ford Models Have Adaptive Cruise Control?

Modern Fords are packed with technology, and one of the more important features for most drivers is adaptive cruise control. Cruise control systems have been around for decades, but we can remember when you’d have to constantly brake and restart the cruise control when you hit traffic or a slow driver in front.

Fortunately, with adaptive cruise control systems, those days are over. Like most manufacturers, Ford added adaptive cruise control to their model range a few years ago , and the system has been developed and improved ever since.

ford expedition cruise control

So if this feature is so great, you‘ll want to know which Ford models have adaptive cruise control right? Well, to answer that question, we’ve put together a list of every current Ford model, to show you which cars include this option and which don’t. We’ll also talk you through how it works , and if we think it’s value for money.

Let’s get started!

Table of Contents

How does Ford’s adaptive cruise control work?

Ford’s adaptive cruise control works similarly to most systems. The system is managed by a series of radars and cameras around the vehicle to monitor speed and distance from any objects. Once you set your desired speed and preferred distance from the car in front, the system will manage the rest.

This allows your Ford to slow down when the vehicle in front is slowing (so distance is maintained), and once the vehicle in front accelerates, your Ford will increase speed until it reaches the speed you set when you turned the cruise control on.

On some Ford models, the system includes a speed sign recognition system, which allows your car to monitor speed signs and slow down if necessary.

Do all Ford models come with adaptive cruise control?

No – most of the vehicles in the current Ford range include adaptive cruise control, but i t isn’t available on every model . Below we’ve listed every current Ford vehicle to show you:

Models with adaptive cruise control as an optional extra

Most of the Ford range includes adaptive cruise control as an optional extra . The cost of adding this varies across the Ford range, and in most cases the adaptive cruise control feature is included with a larger options pack.

As a result, some option packs can reach into the thousands , and you may end up paying for features you don’t need. Unfortunately, most manufacturers are selling options this way, so it’s no surprise to see Ford adopting the option pack model.

Models without adaptive cruise control

There are a small number of vehicles in the current Ford range without the option for adaptive cruise control. These are usually the entry level trims for most Ford vehicles, which are missing a lot of standard features.

There are still some high spec vehicles on here. The Mach 1 Mustang models and the F-150 Lightning Pro are expensive cars, and it’s disappointing to see that Ford don’t include adaptive cruise control here.

Ford Bronco

Is adaptive cruise control worth it?

If you’re expecting to do a lot of highway driving in your Ford , then the adaptive cruise control feature would be a no brainer for me. It makes longer journeys considerably easier and the adaptive tech makes freeway driving in traffic less stressful.

If you’re going to do most of your driving in built up areas (where you’ll be at lower speeds) or off-road, then the adaptive cruise control system won’t get much use. It’s still useful for any longer journeys, but I wouldn’t rush to add this feature.

Now we can talk about the cost . If you’re looking at a Ford model where adaptive cruise control is standard then great, you have that feature built in at no cost. If you’re looking at a mid-spec Ford, chances are you’ll have to pay for adaptive cruise control and buy an options pack.

Some packs are great value , like the Safe & Smart pack, but some are incredibly expensive for what you get. Our advice is to check all the features, and you might find upgrading to the higher-spec model is actually cheaper than adding a package.

What other Ford options should you look at?

Across the Ford range there are plenty of impressive (and not so impressive) options. We’ve put together articles on the most important features you should look into, covering the price, availability, and our thoughts. Check out the links below for more info:

BTW, the horn and radio work fine and the buttons though weathered, appear to be in good shape. They are not sticking or anything. The volume control buttons from the steering wheel do not work however.

Theirs a cruise control self diagnostic article online. You basically push the cruise on button along with turning key to on, cruise will go into self diagnostic mode through module. Go online you'll find it. Report your findings. http:// Sent from my N9131 using Tapatalk

Did you bother checking for power on both sides of the fuse or pulled it out and looked at it?

John Christopher

Try spraying WD40 all around the controls. Put the nozzle in the gaps between the controls and spray. Work the control several times and spray again. This always works for me and is worth a try. Wrap a towel around the wheel to keep from getting it all over,

If the above fails there are instructions about cleaning the controls on the forum. Good Luck. Let me know how you make out.

  • Press and release the remaining switches in this sequence: ON, RESUME, COAST and SET/ACCEL (for Expedition), ON RESUME, COAST and CANCEL (for Navigator). The speed control indicator lamp will flash after each switch is pressed and released. Press and release each switch in the sequence immediately after the indicator light goes out for the previous switch.
  • NOTE: There will be a slight delay when the last button is pressed and released and the lamp flashes. A lamp flash with the last button (SET/ACCEL) or CANCEL (for Navigator) indicates that the STATIC test passed. If the lamp does not flash with the last button and there are no additional flashes of the lamp, the switches are defective. If the lamp does not flash with the last button, and additional flashes occur, follow the chart below for trouble codes:
