Excellent communication

Excellent communication and post-service customer care. It was easy to communicate via email, with quick responses (within a day due to timezone differences i imagine) and when I thought I had a problem with the car hire company, Authentik was easy to contact and helped me resolve the problem.

A great tour organised by a knowledgable company

The basic tours are good & the agent was very efficient. Altering the tour to suit us was very easily done. Hotels were generally of a good standard. We had no problems with the arrangements which all went smoothly. We thought the areas where there could be improvements were perhaps, first, if the 'personalised guide' could be a little more personalised by giving extra information for eg the time of year, our interests etc and, second, where we could have been given some choice over the type of room in some of the hotels. We decided to pay a small amount for upgrades on a couple of occasions where the benefit was significant eg a view of the Rockies in Jasper.

For the rooms, we always chose the most economic rooms in the quotes to start with but we always offer the possibility to upgrade for a more luxurious one if the client would like, depending on its budget. A great trip with a few issues that were quickly addressed

Well organised trip under difficult circumstances, as we were unaware of the tourist season in Eastern Canada which appeared to close early this year. COVID also impacted on availability of restaurants etc. where we had a problem, Authentik Canada, made a genuine effort to help.

Hello Mike, It’s true that some sites have been severely affected by COVID, leaving no other choice than closing earlier because of labor shortage. We are sorry for the inconveniences this caused. It’s very important to us that we make sure to always provide the best support both before, during and after your trip! I used Authentik Canada to help with car hire. They provided a very competitive service and an error free experience. More importantly, I was impressed by their communication and general attitude. If had discovered Authentik Canada earlier I would have used them to plan more of our trip and will do so if we return in the future.

Campervan - issues with RVandB

Be careful who Authentic use to book your campervan. Ours was booked with RVandB and the campervan was not up to the standard expected. The age and condition of the motorhome were not as expected. Ours was built in 2014. As a result, we had a number of issues with the RV. When I pointed this out to Authentic just prior to collection, they too seemed surprised. They agreed to include a notice on their website, so please be careful. Unfortunately, we did not get the benefit of this warning, otherwise, we would not have booked with Authentic. I should add that the locations booked by authentic were amazing (have separately provided excellent feedback on all locations booked), and the administration with campsites by Authentic was excellent and without fault. However, despite the wonderful locations, the campervan spoilt it for us, and we would not book again.

Convenient but unoriginal

+ Friendly staff and ok communication - outdated information, unrealistic travel time and activity offered not always worth a detour. Overall it was convenient because we didn’t have time to plan, but very mainstream, no particular ‘insiders’ knowledge added. Some campsites seemed unhappy about having to deal with customer from authentik.

Authentik Canada checked all the boxes

We used Authentik Canada in June of 2022 to help us plan our Victoria to Banff trip. I had no idea how to find Canadian hotels or how long it would take us to get from point A to Point B. AC knew it all, even which excursions would be the best. The hotels they booked were great. The excursions were just what we would have picked. I can’t say enough good things about them.

Excellent but not just the deal

I was kind of desperate in renting a vehicle in a high season at a hot spot, but really lucky that I got a very good deal from Authentik, half the price yet a better model with coverage of even insurance. That's not all. I also would like to say my thanks to the customer services, very impressive, nice and helpful. Definitely I would recommend to everyone

Great experience. Very friendly and professional staff. Véronique was extremely helpfull, even though she had to manage our last minute tour enquiry. good advice according to our purpose, good preparation and road book for the trip

the advice were fully in accordance with what we intend to do and see. so quik understanding of what we want. clear documents given with the road book. every dialogue was sympathetic things to be improved: some distances on the roadbook are realy false. they need to be updated. an advice: a GPS is needed. very well recieved by all the canadians. very good dialogue with all the people we met.

Bonjour Monsieur Radet, Vous avez fait vraiment des commentaires très pertinents pour les autres voyageurs. Au niveau du roadbook, nous en sommes à un point ou il est difficile d'améliorer les indications routières, qui sont toutes calculées avec Google Map. Nous cherchons toujours à améliorer ce point mais bien sûr la solution ultime reste la location de GPS, qui vient appuyer les cartes et indications. C'est ce que nous recommandons à nos voyageurs. Merci encore pour tout et bonne soirée !

Very good trip in Québec

A very complete, varied and enriching route filled with beautiful landscapes, with beautiful discoveries and with beautiful meetings ... We wished soak us with Quebec and we were very satisfied with various places and accommodations chosen by Authentik Canada: of the tent Utopia, via the chalet, at the inhabitant up to the hotel ... The bears, the whales, the beavers were there ... A natural atmosphere but also cultural for a getting fresh ideas and fascinating route! All this organized very well.

They did not quote the drop off charge…

They did not quote the drop off charge in a different location when I booked the car rental. As this can be one of the costliest parts of renting a car it is ridiculous to exclude this. The over charge was huge and it really screwed up my budgeting. They try and talk about honesty and transparency but clearly not when the biggest cost is excluded! Don't trust these guys On your reply, not sure about that either. Intermediaries like Kayak and Expedia quote the drop off fee in their prices. So you are either lying or your company is incompetent.

You are simply paying the entire amount at the counter, and not paying Expedia directly. On our end, we have chosen to indicate them in the detailed price section, as you are paying your rental directly to us. However, taking your comments into consideration, we will be changing the pricing descriptive on our website to make it even clearer and ensure our future guests are not met with the same frustrating realization. Our IT team is already working on the project and adjustments will be up shortly. We want to kindly reiterate that these fees were clearly noted in the ‘’ Important notes ‘’ section, found right next to the total price. Additionally, we would like to precise that your e-mail confirmation (containing your exchange voucher) stated the following : ''IMPORTANT - DROP-OFF FEES : We would like to remind you that, as mentioned in your booking quote, some one-way rentals are subject to a drop-off fee to be paid at the rental office.'' A great way to travel to Canada !

Good advices, reactive and flexible ! Listen carefully to your needs and propose solutions which match very well. The roadbook is really great and well organized with great advices for each stop ... proposed restaurants were very good. Not enough options for hotels and for car rental.

Excellent customer service and advice whilst arranging our holiday. The campgrounds and hotels chosen for us were very good with no booking hitches. The road book and the loaded GPS provided for our journey were an added bonus to our amazing Canadian adventure.

The car has been very good very …

The car has been very good very confortable but not the GPS. The GPS didn't work all time. The destination wasn't never found by the GPS. I don't understand why they put a crazy GPS on a super category car.

Pour un voyage d'été , il est possible de partir entre la mi-mai et la mi-octobre mais la haute saison est définitivement entre la mi-juillet et la mi-août. Pour un voyage d'hiver , la saison se déroule entre noël et la mi-mars . Le temps des fêtes est très occupé ainsi que les 2 dernières semaines de février en raison des vacances scolaires.

Our history

The Founders

Simon and Jason, two childhood friends, founded Authentik after traveling across Canada together. At the age of 27, they will give themselves the mission of helping travelers from around the world to discover their neck of the woods.

Our first office

It all started in Simon's apartment, located at 652 2e Avenue in Verdun (Montreal). The great ideas were brainstormed around the kitchen table.

Aventour Canada

Before we were Authentik, we went by the name of Aventour. We were forced to change our name in the spring of 2003, as the name Aventour had already been registered in the trademarks register. It was part of the learning process !

Our first travelers

We welcomed our first customers on December 21st, 2002. A group consisting of 8 French people passing through Montreal, who wanted to leave the next day for a day of snowmobiling. At the time, we were distributing leaflets by hand to all the concierges of Montreal hotels (image above). We were concentrating our offer around snowmobile and dog sledding day trips, including round-trip transportation from Montreal.

The start of a revolution

It was by creating our first Authentik website that we came up with the idea of targeting international travelers directly via the Internet. This new business model subsequently revolutionized the distribution network of the tourism industry. Let us remember that, at the time, the Internet was not yet a very popular tool.

Finally ! A real office space.

It is clear that business is going well. At least well enough to pay for real offices on Wellington Street, in Verdun. During the summer, it gets really hot without air conditioning. The bosses go on slushies trips to keep our soldiers refreshed in. It was, nonetheless, our 1500 square feet of paradise.

We are getting a makeover

Our little web revolution is very successful and we have to re-think our website to meet the needs of our travelers. That year, we will make our first million in sales.

Our first Authentik outing

We are now 6 full-time employees and we see it as an opportunity to have our first team building activity in order to get to know each other a little better. To do so, nothing felt more right than going on a 3-day canoe-camping adventure in the meanders of L'Assomption River.

We're moving...again

Our 1500 square feet are no longer large enough to accommodate everyone. We are now 15 employees making the dream of thousands of travelers who want to explore our great wilderness come true.

Gold Laureate Grands Prix du Tourisme

We take great pride in having won the ultimate recognition of tourism in Quebec . That evening, we walked chests-out as the whole Authentik team went up on the stage to receive the Grand Prix du Tourisme. We saw it as a real pat on the back from the Quebec tourism industry, which only encouraged us to continue on our path to greater innovation.

Authentik, growth leader in Quebec

Each year, the renowned business magazine L'Actualité lists the companies that have experienced the strongest growth in Quebec over the past 5 years. In 2009, Authentik came in second place of this prestigious list, thanks to an explosive growth rate of 3557%.

Authentik USA

2011 marked the launch of Authentik USA , our sister company offering road trips across Western United States. This new venture is part of the strategies leading to the relaunch of the company following the financial crisis of 2008, which had its toll of damage on us

First Authentik Forest

In 2011, we planted our first Authentik Forest, in which we were committed to plant 1 tree per customer. The objective was to offset the CO2 emitted by our travelers in order to contribute to the fight against climate change.

Brand new website

The 2011 version of our website has truly enabled the company to grow exponentially and then overcome the psychological barrier of 10 million in turnover. The web is now more than ever part of our DNA.

Office Christmas party

We are now more or so 20 employees and we always have memorable Christmas parties. Here, in 2011, we celebrated it as a team at the Petit Sacacomie chalet in Mauricie. We even had a visit from our now famous Authentik Santa.

We need more space !

We are now over 40 employees and our turnover exceeds 15 million. We need more space to manage all of this great growth.

Our first travel guide

Authentik publishes its first  travel guide , which visitors can download for free on the website.

Authentik camping trip

The team is growing still! This year, we are going camping in the Mauricie National Park, where we will once again create lasting memories. The feeling of becoming a real family is now evident.

After 15 years in the game, the time has come to adapt our visual identity to the current times. The new logo places more emphasis on the Authentik brand.

Launch of our road trip planner

After a few years of innovation, Authentik is launching the very first "road trip planner" in the world. This is a new generation of website where one can plan a tailor-made road trip from A to Z, by hand-picking accommodations and destinations, and where it is also possible to add vehicle rental and air tickets to build a complete trip.

Grand Prix de l'Innovation

Authentik is awarded the Grand Prize for Innovation for the launch of its new road trip planner. The industry rewards the company for its years of innovation in trying to change the way of planning an online trip.

The 2018 Authentik Forest

The team is more than ever involved in the fight against climate change. In 2018, we came together to plant 1762 trees on the Ferme 5 Étoiles site in the  Saguenay Fjord  region.

Authentik donates 1% of its sales to the planet

After the Authentik Forests initiative, where the company planted trees to offset the CO2 of its travelers, Authentik now believes it will become more efficient by donating 1% of its sales to the organization 1% for the planet.

Las Vegas Office

Authentik USA inaugurates its new office located at 3960 Howard Hughes Parkway in Las Vegas. The company thus wants to better position itself to help its eager clientele to realize their American dream.

Pandemic hits the tourism industry

From 2020 to 2022, the COVID-19 pandemic impacted the global tourism industry in a devastating way. Authentik was particularly hard hit by travel restrictions and border closures.

Authentik World

In 2023, we launched Authentik World. We are now offering trips all over the world and thus have become the largest road trip planner in the world. This is in some ways our answer to the global pandemic aftermath.
