Entrance to Ithaca College

Ithaca College is a moderately selective school whose campus has easy access to the gorges, wineries, and lakes of Central New York.

Located on Route 96b just up the hill from downtown  Ithaca  and across a valley from  Cornell University ,  Ithaca College  is in the heart of one of Upstate New York's cultural centers.

View of Cayuga Lake from the Ithaca College Campus

Student life at Ithaca College is enriched by the school's enviable location on the hillside overlooking the south end of Lake Cayuga. Here you can see practice fields in the foreground and the lake in the distance. Downtown Ithaca is just a short way down the hill, and Ithaca College also has a great view of Cornell University . Beautiful gorges, movie theaters and excellent restaurants are all nearby.

Ithaca College Center for Health Sciences

This relatively new building (built in 1999) is home to the Department of Exercise and Sport Sciences, as well as the Division of Interdisciplinary and International Studies. The clinic for occupational and physical therapy can also be found in the center.

Muller Chapel at Ithaca College

Muller Chapel occupies the most picturesque spot on the Ithaca College campus. The chapel sits on the bank of the campus pond, and attractive green spaces, benches and walking trails surround the building.

Ithaca College Egbert Hall

This multi-purpose building is part of the Ithaca College Campus Center. It houses a dining hall, a cafe, and the administrative center for the Division of Student Affairs and Campus Life. The Center for Student Leadership and Involvement (CSLI), the Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA), and the Office of New Student Programs (NSP) can all be found in Egbert.

East Tower Residence Hall at Ithaca College

The two 14-story towers at Ithaca College -- East Tower and West Tower -- are the most easily recognizable feature of the campus. They are visible rising above the trees from nearly anywhere in the city of Ithaca or the Cornell campus.

The towers are coed by floor and each building features single and double rooms, study lounges, a television lounge, laundry and other amenities. The towers also have close proximity to the library and other academic buildings.

Lyon Hall Residence Hall at Ithaca College

Lyon Hall is one of the 11 residence halls that make up the Quads at Ithaca College. The Quads feature single and double rooms as well as a few other types of apartments. Each building has a television and study lounge, laundry facilities, vending and a kitchen.

Most of the buildings in the Quads are conveniently located near the Academic Quad.

Garden Apartments at Ithaca College

Five buildings on the east side of the Ithaca College campus make up the Garden Apartments. These residence halls are slightly more removed from the center of campus than the Quads or Towers but are still an easy walk to class.

The Garden Apartments feature 2, 4 and 6 person living spaces. They are ideal for students who want a more independent living arrangement -- each apartment has its own kitchen, and students in the apartments do not need to have a meal plan. The apartments also feature balconies or patios, some of which have amazing views of the valley.

Terrace Residence Halls at Ithaca College

The Terraces are made up of 12 residence halls at Ithaca College . They are located on the south edge of campus near some of the academic buildings.

The Terraces feature single, double and triple rooms as well as a few suites for 5 or 6 students. Each building has a television lounge, study lounge, kitchen and laundry facilities.

Freeman Baseball Field at Ithaca College

Freeman Field is the home of the Ithaca College Bombers baseball team. Ithaca competes in the Division III Empire 8 Athletic Conference . The field is named after Coach James A. Freeman who retired in 1965.

Ithaca College Tennis Courts

The Ithaca College Bombers tennis teams, both men and women, play on this six-court complex on the north side of campus. Ithaca College competes in the Division III Empire Eight Athletic Conference.

Emerson Residence Hall at Ithaca College

Emerson Hall is a residence hall located on the northeast edge of the campus. The building features double and a few triple rooms. Rather than shared hallway bathrooms, each room in Emerson has its own bathroom with shower. The building is also air conditioned.

Pond at Ithaca College

Located on the north side of campus adjacent to the Muller Chapel, the pond at Ithaca College offers a picturesque spot for students to read, relax and escape the bustle of campus.

If you want to see more photos of Ithaca College, check out the photo tour of academic buildings.

Ithaca College Park Hall, School of Communications

Park Hall is home to the Roy H. Park School of Communications. Students who study radio, television, photography, film and journalism will all spend a lot of time in this facility.

The building is home to ICTV, Ithaca College Television, the oldest student-run television production organization in the country, as well as WICB radio and the weekly student newspaper, the  Ithacan .

Ithaca College Library - The Gannett Center

The Gannett Center is home to Ithaca College's library as well as the Department of Art History, the Department of Anthropology and the Office of Career Services. The building features a language center and a state-of-the-art e-classroom for art education.

Ithaca College Whalen Center for Music

Ithaca College  is well known for the quality of their music program, and the Whalen Center is at the heart of that reputation. The building features 90 practice rooms, almost 170 pianos, 3 performance centers, and numerous faculty studios.

Ithaca College Peggy Ryan Williams Center

This new building first opened its doors in 2009 and is now the home of Ithaca College's senior administration, human resources, enrollment planning and admissions. The Division of Graduate and Professional Studies is also headquartered in the Peggy Ryan Williams Center.

Ithaca College Muller Faculty Center

The Muller Faculty Center, as it name implies, is home to numerous faculty offices. The Office of Information Technology is also located in the building. In this picture you can see the Tower residence halls in the background.

Ithaca College Park Center for Business and Sustainable Enterprise

The Park Center for Business and Sustainable Enterprise is a new facility on Ithaca College's campus built with environmental stewardship in mind. The building received the highest certification awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council.

Students interested in business will find state-of-the-art classrooms where real-time data from Wall Street and 125 other exchanges stream across the wall.

Ithaca College Center for the Natural Sciences

Ithaca College's Center for the Natural Sciences is an impressive 125,000 square foot facility that houses the Biology, Chemistry and Physics Departments. Along with extensive laboratory and classroom space, the building also features a greenhouse with local and tropical plant species.

Academic Catalog

Admission to Ithaca College is selective. Applicants are carefully considered on the basis of individual qualifications, both academic and nonacademic. No decision to deny admission will be based on age, disability, marital status, national origin, race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or military status.

Ithaca College accepts only the Common Application. Students should submit their application online, along with the $60 application fee, through the Common Application website .

Most students have followed traditional college preparation programs in secondary school; however, applicants from nontraditional schools are encouraged to apply.  Applicants are required to submit official transcripts of all their secondary school and college-level coursework, and letters of reference. Auditions, portfolio reviews, or department interviews are also required in certain programs.

Students applying for admission have the option to submit SAT or ACT scores as part of their admission file. Students who send scores should have them sent directly from the appropriate testing agency. Home schooled students and students who attend high schools that provide only descriptive report cards (rather than alphanumeric grades) must submit SAT or ACT scores.

The Office of Admission reserves the right to request standardized test scores or other information about an applicant should the admission committee determine that additional information is necessary to make a decision.

Office of Admission

The Office of Admission strongly encourages prospective students and their families to engage with the Ithaca College community. Virtual and on-campus visit opportunities are available on most weekdays and select Saturdays while the College is in session as well as throughout the summer. See ithaca.edu/visit for additional information. Please contact the Office of Admission at [email protected] or 1-607-274-3124 if you have any questions.

Early Decision

The Office of Admission encourages qualified candidates who have selected Ithaca College as their first choice to consider applying under the early decision program. Applications must be filed by November 1, with all supporting materials in place by November 15.

Early decision applicants to majors outside of music and theatre will be notified of the admission committee’s decision by December 15. Given the timing of auditions and interviews, music and theatre applicants may be notified a few days after December 15.

Early decision is a first-choice, binding agreement, and those offered admission will be expected to submit an enrollment confirmation and nonrefundable advance payment by February 1. Students offered early decision admission agree to withdraw applications submitted to other colleges or universities.

Early Action

Ithaca College offers a nonbinding early action option for students who complete their application to Ithaca College by December 1, with all supporting materials in place by December 15, and select early action on their Common Application. Early action applicants will be notified of an admission decision by February 1. It is important to note that due to the timing of the audition and interview process, early action is not offered to applicants in Music or Theatre.

Music and Theatre Arts

Early Decision applicants to the School of Music, Theatre and Dance apply by November 1, with all supporting materials in by November 15, and must audition or interview on the first available date.

Acting, Musical Theatre and Stage Management applicants may not apply early decision.

Early action is not an option for applicants to the School of Music, Theatre and Dance.

The regular decision deadline for applicants to Acting and Musical Theatre is December 1, with all supporting materials in by December 15.

The regular decision deadline for applicants to Drumset, Sound Recording Technology and Voice majors is December 1, with all supporting materials in by December 15.

Ithaca College resumes in-person campus tours

Junior+Stephanie+Krauss%2C+a+tour+guide+on+the+Presidents+Host+Committee%2C+leads+a+tour+for+prospective+students.+The+college+began+offering+in-person+campus+tours+April+10+for+invited+accepted+students.

Prospective students are once again able to visit the Ithaca College campus as the college resumes in-person campus tours.

The college began hosting in-person tours of the campus again April 10. The tours are offered to accepted students who have received an invitation to tour the college. The college is prioritizing students who have not previously visited campus but may invite more students as it is able to accommodate more visitors, Nicole Eversley Bradwell, executive director of admission, said. Prior to going on the tour, visitors must complete an electronic screening for COVID-19 symptoms and exposure and comply with the New York State Travel Advisory .

The campus was previously only open to current students, faculty and staff as outlined in the “ Return to Campus ” plan. Prospective students who are interested in touring the campus can submit a campus visit interest form to be notified when more tours are available.

The goal of the tours is to allow accepted students and family members to experience the college while maintaining the health and wellness of the college community and visitors, Bradwell said.

“We’ve been hearing from accepted students who have never visited campus that they are eager to experience the campus for themselves in a safe way,” Bradwell said via email.

Junior Tsedale Forbes, a co-chair of the President’s Host Committee, said accepted students are allowed to bring one supporting visitor for their tour. They said each tour is limited to four families and one tour guide, and everyone is required to wear a mask and stay distant from others throughout the tour.

Abby Bertrum, an accepted high school senior from Edina, Minnesota, toured the college earlier this month. She said she received an invitation for a tour during an accepted students day event. She said her tour was a one-on-one tour, and her group included herself, her mother and her grandmother.

“My overall experience was fantastic, and just being on campus really made me want to come here in the fall even more,” Bertrum said.

Forbes said tours have been adjusted to fit the New York state, Tompkins County and Ithaca College COVID-19 guidelines. She said the tours have been shortened and are mostly outside, going through as few buildings as possible. They also said all tours now take the same route — unlike how they were conducted prior to the pandemic — and are staggered throughout the day so that no tours cross paths.

Although campus tours are currently only being offered to accepted high school seniors, there are options for online engagement located on the college’s website. Forbes said the Office of Admission offers virtual Q&A webinars and panels for prospective students. They said almost all virtual engagement is open to students of all backgrounds and ages, except for the virtual a ccepted student s ocial events, which are only open to accepted students.

Bradwell said over 1,760 prospective students attended the Accepted Students Day programs, which include financial aid sessions, an academic and student services fair and social events. The Accepted Students Day programs began in February 2021 , and the final program is being held April 22.

Forbes said that as an extrovert, she enjoys engaging with visitors again, and the Office of Admission is ecstatic to be able to invite visitors on campus again.

“A lot of planning went on behind the scenes to make this happen , and if any of it would have caused harm to our campus community, the p ublic h ealth and e mergency p reparedness t eam would not have approved our proposal,” Forbes said.

Bradwell said the Office of Admission is excited to be welcoming prospective students to campus and will continue to assess its engagement opportunities as COVID-19 guidelines change.

“Our President’s Hosts and admission team members have enjoyed every moment of welcoming our accepted students to South Hill to see for themselves why Ithaca College is a place we call home,” Bradwell said.

Junior Emma Robinson, a tour guide on the President’s Host Committee, said that she is grateful that the committee has found a safe way to conduct tours that prioritizes health and connection.

“It’s so nice to be able to be connecting in person with prospective students again,” Robinson said. “It’s been such a long time of just webinars and blank video boxes, but to connect with students going through such a difficult time and being able to help them even a little bit is so energizing and a great reminder to me of why I’m in college and what I’m working toward.”

Fun facts from our Moscow Metro Tours:

From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.

At a depth of 50 to 120 meters lies the second, the coded system of Metro-2 of Moscow subway, which is equipped with everything you need, from food storage to the nuclear button.

According to some sources, the total length of Metro-2 reaches over 150 kilometers.

The Museum was opened on Sportivnaya metro station on November 6, 1967. It features the most interesting models of trains and stations.

Coffee Ring

The first scheme of Moscow Metro looked like a bunch of separate lines. Listen to a myth about Joseph Stalin and the main brown line of Moscow Metro.

Zodiac Metro

According to some astrologers, each of the 12 stops of the Moscow Ring Line corresponds to a particular sign of the zodiac and divides the city into astrological sector.

Astrologers believe that being in a particular zadiac sector of Moscow for a long time, you attract certain energy and events into your life.

Paleontological finds

Red marble walls of some of the Metro stations hide in themselves petrified inhabitants of ancient seas. Try and find some!

  • Every day each car in  Moscow metro passes  more than 600 km, which is the distance from Moscow to St. Petersburg.
  • Moscow subway system is the  5th in the intensity  of use (after the subways of Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul and Shanghai).
  • The interval in the movement of trains in rush hour is  90 seconds .
