Katy Perry releasing new album in 2024 and planning world tour

Katy Perry is set to release her first new album for four years.

The 39-year-old pop superstar has almost finished her seventh studio LP - which will be her first release since 2020's 'Smile' - and the tracks have been described as her "most personal" yet.

A source told The Sun newspaper's Bizarre column: "Katy has been working on her most personal album ever for much of the past two years.

“She has been doing it on her own terms and it is quite different from anything she has released before."

Katy also intends to go on a world tour in support of the record, the first time she has been on the road since 'Witness: The Tour' which ran from 2017 to 2018.

For the past two years, the 'Roar' hitmaker has been performing her 'Play' Las Vegas concert residency at the Resorts World Theatre but now she is ready to take her songs around the globe to her fans.

The source added: "But after so long spent on the West Coast of the US, she feels ready to tour again.

“The demand is there because she has so many hits, so taking her show on the road is bound to be a big draw.

“The hope is that she can head out towards the end of 2024, but it is still being worked out.”

Earlier this year, Katy insisted she had been writing new songs but urged fans to be patient to hear them.

Appearing on 'Good Morning America', Katy - who has three-year-old daughter called Daisy with her fiancé, actor Orlando Bloom - said: "I haven't put any new material out since my darling Daisy.

"I think that I'm writing a lot and have written a lot from a place of love, because I'm feeling so much of it - so much unconditional love, that love you never knew existed.

"I'm always writing, I have been, but I think what's really important to me is to be celebrating the world that I've got to build with all of these wonderful songs and to be responsible for a life for a three year old.

"I will be back, but let me get this right."

Lionel Richie, Katy Perry perform at royal coronation concert in England

LONDON (AP) — A day after a  gilded coronation ceremony  watched by millions, King Charles III and Queen Camilla had a much more relaxing time Sunday as they took in a concert featuring Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and others at Windsor Castle.

Charles and Camilla appeared to enjoy the show as Richie performed “All Night Long,” at one point getting up on their feet and swaying along to the music. Other members of the royal family, including 8-year-old Princess Charlotte and Prince George, 9, waved Union flags along with a crowd of some 20,000 gathered on the castle’s east terrace.

Charlotte and her mother, Kate, the Princess of Wales, sang along as Perry, dressed in a gold foil ball gown, performed “Roar.”

“Top Gun” star Tom Cruise appeared in a pre-recorded video message, saying: “Pilot to pilot. Your Majesty, you can be my wingman any time.” Other stars performing at the concert included British boy band Take That, Nicole Scherzinger from the Pussycat Dolls, and opera star Andrea Bocelli.

Even Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog made an appearance, joking with host Hugh Bonneville.

Concert goers sang “God Save The King” as landmarks around the U.K., were lit up in colorful lights.

Earlier Sunday, thousands of picnics and street parties were held across the U.K. in Charles’ honor. The community get-togethers, part of a British tradition known as the Big Lunch, provided a down-to-earth counterpart to the gilded spectacle of the king’s crowning Saturday.

The events were intended to bring neighbors together to celebrate the crowning even as support for the monarchy wanes. Critics complained about the coronation’s cost at a time of  exorbitant living expenses amid double-digit inflation .

But plenty others took the opportunity to enjoy a party with friends and family. In Regent’s Park in London, Valent Cheung and his girlfriend showed up to cheer the new king with the neighbors who embraced them when they moved from Hong Kong. They dolled up their loyal and “royal” fluffy white dog, Tino, with a tiny purple crown for the occasion.

“This is a new era for U.K,” Cheung said. “We didn’t have these things in Hong Kong. Now, we are embracing the culture. We want to enjoy it, we want to celebrate it.”

Charles and Camilla didn’t drop in on any of the picnics, leaving that duty to other members of the royal family.

His son, Prince William, heir to the throne, and his wife, Kate, surprised people picnicking outside the castle before the concert. Dressed far more casually than the day before, they shook hands and Kate embraced a crying girl in a hug.

The king’s siblings, Prince Edward and Princess Anne and their spouses took on lunch duty for the royal family at events across England. The king’s nieces, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, the daughters of Prince Andrew, joined a lunch in Windsor.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak hosted U.S. first lady Jill Biden and her granddaughter Finnegan Biden at the Big Lunch party held in front of his office. Other guests included Ukrainian refugees and community activists.

Like the picnic in the park, Downing Street and Sunak’s spread — even his teapot — were festooned in the nation’s colors.

Sausage rolls and salmon were served along with coronation chicken — a dish cooked up for Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation 70 years ago — and coronation quiche, which was picked to suit Charles’ taste and has been the buzz of social media. often for the wrong reasons.

The lower-key events followed regalia-laden pageantry that saw the king and queen crowned together in Westminster Abbey. They were presented with  centuries-old swords, scepters and a jewel-encrusted golden orb  symbolizing the monarch’s power in a medieval tradition celebrated with liturgy, song and hearty cheers of “God save the king.”

WATCH: Pageantry and protests surround coronation of King Charles III

The couple then paraded through the streets in a gilded horse-drawn carriage led by the largest ceremonial military procession since the coronation of Charles’ mother. Some 4,000 troops marched in formation through the streets, their scarlet sleeves and white gloves swinging in unison to the sound of drums and bugles from marching bands, including one group of musicians on horseback.

Hundreds of thousands of spectators lined the route in the rain to see it in person. Nearly 19 million more watched on television in the U.K., according to ratings released by Barb, a research organization. That’s about 40% fewer viewers than had watched the  funeral of Queen Elizabeth II  in September.

Charles and Camilla said Sunday in a statement that they were “deeply touched” by the celebration and “profoundly grateful both to all those who helped to make it such a glorious occasion – and to the very many who turned out to show their support.”

Not everyone was there to celebrate, though, and criticism continued Sunday over arrests of more than 50 protesters, including members of a republican group shouting “Not my king” and environmentalists aiming to end the use of fossil fuels.

Graham Smith, leader of Republic, a group advocating for abolishing the monarchy, said he was arrested as he planned a peaceful protest and spent 16 hours in police custody.

“These arrests are a direct attack on our democracy and the fundamental rights of every person in the country,” Smith said. “Each and every police officer involved on the ground should hang their heads in shame.”

The Metropolitan Police acknowledged concerns over the arrests, but defended the force’s actions.

“The coronation is a once-in-a-generation event and that is a key consideration in our assessment,” Commander Karen Findlay said.

At Regent’s Park, champagne was on ice and celebrants talked about the novelty of what they had witnessed. But the coronation was nothing new for Rosemary McIntosh, 95, just a lot more vivid than the one she saw televised while living in Zimbabwe in 1953.

“We didn’t have TV all day and it was black and white, so it wasn’t as wonderful as has been this one,” she said.

Katy Perry at The O2

Katy Perry today announced that the UK & Europe leg of WITNESS: The Tour will stop at The O2 on 14 and 15 June 2018.

WITNESS: The Tour is Katy’s first run since the sold-out, 151-date Prismatic World Tour, which concluded in 2015 and was hailed by Rolling Stone as "a show to damage retinas and blow minds."

The tour follows the release of her new album, Witness. With Witness, Katy finds liberation, in the changes in her own life and in the world around her, delivering songs that inspire both thought and movement. The singles released thus far – the Platinum-certified “Chained to the Rhythm” featuring Skip Marley, and the new singles, “Bon Appétit” featuring Migos and “Swish Swish” featuring Nicki Minaj – hint at the breadth of the musical and thematic elements found on Witness.

Katy Perry Confirms Kick-Off of KP6 Era With Upcoming Release of Empowering ‘Woman’s World’ Single

  • Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later. More content below

After months of teasing, Katy Perry officially kicked off the countdown to KP6 on Monday (June 17) with the announcement that the first single from her upcoming sixth album, “Woman’s World,” will drop on July 11. The news was heralded with a brief snippet of the empowering pop song as well as the single’s eye-popping art, shot by British photographer Jack Bridgland.

The photo features Perry dressed in a skimpy white bikini, her legs encased in what look like metallic pegasus legs and her arms tucked into her voluminous black hair. “Woman’s World” is slated to drop at 7 p.m. ET on July 11, with the official music video to debut the next day.

Perry uploaded a 15-second preview of the song on Monday morning as well, in which she poses and flips her hair while wearing the outfit from the single cover accented by a chunky necklace while singing, “Sexy, confident, so intelligent/ She is heaven-sent, so soft, so strong,” over a bubbling electro pop beat.

At press time, no additional information was available on the title of Perry’s sixth full-length studio album, the follow-up to 2020’s Smile . Perry began ramping up excitement for her next era last month when, after finishing her seven-year run on American Idol , she changed her social media profile pic to a sleek, futuristic silver logo with her shiny initials floating inside a pair of parentheses.

In April Perry told  Access Hollywood  that her next album was going to be one of her  happiest LPs to date . “I just have yet to make a record from a place of feeling really happy and whole and full of love,” she said at the time. “Sometimes artists are like, ‘Oh, that’s boring, you want to make music from kind of like a tougher place,’ but actually it’s very bright and joyful, like pure joy and fun and playful and celebratory and a party.”

Last August during a show on her Las Vegas residency, Perry told the crowd, “If you can’t love me at my  Witness  and  Smile  era, then you  can’t love me in my KP6 era .” Technically, the upcoming album is the singer’s seventh, though she did release her debut LP,  Katy Hudson , in 2001 under her birth name, which had a more Christian rock-themed vibe than her subsequent major label albums.

Katy Perry has announced the release of her upcoming sixth studio album “143,” releasing on September 20.

The pop singer made the announcement on her socials shortly after fans sleuthed the album title, covers and release date on her official merch store. “143” is a code for “I love you,” often used in the early 1990s in messages sent on pagers.

“I set out to create a bold, exuberant, celebratory dance-pop album with the symbolic 143 numerical expression of love as a throughline message,” said Perry in a statement.

Taylor Swift Sings 'Football Helmet' Lyric in a Surprise Mashup of 2 Love Songs in Germany amid Travis Kelce Romance

Swift blended together 'Stay Stay Stay' and 'Paper Rings' during the acoustic segment of her July 19 Eras Tour show

Taylor Swift likes shiny things — like football helmets!

On Friday, July 19, the 14-time Grammy winner seemingly expressed just how much in love she is with NFL boyfriend Travis Kelce , 34, during her third Eras Tour show at Gelsenkirchen’s Veltins Arena in Germany.

Swift, 34, treated the crowd with a surprise mashup of two old love songs: “Paper Rings” from 2019’s Lover album and “Stay Stay Stay,” which came out in 2012 and was re-released in 2021 on Red (Taylor's Version) .

“I like shiny things, but I’d marry you with paper rings, that’s right, you're the one I want,” she sang before switching to “Stay, Stay, Stay,” which includes the lyric, “That’s when you came in wearing a football helmet.”

The “football helmet” lyric has taken on a new meaning since 2023 when Swift started dating the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, frequently attended his games and shared a kiss with him after his 2024 Super Bowl victory.

Kelce attended his 13th and 14th Eras Tour shows on July 17 and July 18, but he missed the romantic mashup moment from Friday's show because he was traveling back to the U.S. for Chiefs training camp in Missouri.

At Thursday’s show, the Super Bowl champ was seen with his arm around his girlfriend as they left the arena.

The couple have shared several sweet moments throughout the Eras Tour, including when Kelce surprised Swifties by  performing onstage  with Swift at the June 23 show in London.

For his cameo, Kelce rose onto the stage from a stage door on the floor with  Kameron Saunders  and  Jan Ravnik , who are the usual backup dancers for this part of the show, during the outfit change skit between “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” and “I Can Do It with a Broken Heart.”

Swift was lying on the floor at the end of “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived,” which is speculated to be about  ex Matty Healy . This is when Kelce symbolically picked up the heartbroken performer off the stage and carried her to a couch area to change outfits.

Swift, still in performance mode, then begrudgingly changed clothes, while Kelce and the two dancers tried to hype her out of her fictitious funk. At the first note of “I Can Do It with a Broken Heart,” Swift put on a happy face.

Some concertgoers have even have gone so far as to dress as the NFL star.

Throughout Swift's tour, some fans have donned Chiefs' jerseys at her shows, including in England and in Germany.

At her Amsterdam show July 6, Swift gave a lyrical nod to Kelce's jersey number during a surprise mashup of "Mary's Song," "So High School" and "Everything Has Changed” — with an emotional Kelce watching in person .

At the end of the mashup,  Swift sang  the closing lyrics to 2006 classic "Mary's Song," which like "Stay Stay Stay" has taken on a new meaning because of her romance with Kelce: "I'll by 87, you'll be 89 / I'll still look at you like the stars that shine / In the sky, oh my my my."

Fans cheered knowing Kelce’s jersey number is 87 and Swift was born in 1989 (and has an album named  1989 ).

At another show on June 21 in London, Swift also pulled out a surprise move  that her boyfriend often employs during football games:  using an invisible bow to release an arrow .

While performing  “So High School,”  a love song with pointed lyrics, Swift did the gesture and sang, “You know how to ball, I know Aristotle,” referring to his football talents and her songwriting prowess.

Katy Perry Cosplays as a Risqué Rosie the Riveter in ‘Woman’s World’ Teaser

  • By Tomás Mier

Katy Perry is sharing another glimpse of her upcoming single “ Woman’s World .” On Tuesday, the singer shared a teaser of the music video, which sees Perry dressed as Rosie the Riveter in what seems to be a women-empowering single.

“Celebrate,” sings Perry. “We ain’t going away.”

The video splices clips of Perry pouring “Whiskey for Women” into her mouth, and playing with a bedazzled hammer while wearing a toolbelt and Timberland workboot-inspired heels. Another scene flashes a close-up of Perry’s cleavage under a sparkly American Flag top she shared on Fourth of July. The visual ends with a giant anchor falling on Perry’s head and crushing her.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by KATY PERRY (@katyperry)

Late last month, Perry revealed the lyrics to her new song by wearing a red dress with a 500-foot train that revealed all the words to the song. “Sexy, confident/So intelligent/She is heaven-sent/So soft, so strong,” read the lyrics. “She’s a winner/Champion/ Superhuman/Number one.”

The new video will arrive several weeks after  Rolling Stone  broke the news  that Perry reconnected with Dr. Luke, Max Martin, and Stargate (who helped make hits on her albums  Teenage Dream  and  Prism ) for her forthcoming album. “Katy knew exactly the album she wanted to make and put together the team to make it happen,” a Capitol Records source told  Rolling Stone  at the time.

The news of Perry collaborating with Luke arrives a year after the producer settled his defamation lawsuit with singer Kesha, who accused him of sexual, physical, and emotional abuse years prior. Last June, Kesha said that “only God knows what happened” on the night she claimed she was raped, while Luke maintained his innocence.

I saw Katy in concert for the Witness world tour for my birthday. It would be a lie to say I wasn’t completely blow away. I’ve been a fan since 2014 but fell out of interest for a little while. After seeing Witness in concert though I was immediately hooked on again.

Katy keeps your attention and makes your experience about more than music. She makes even people who aren’t fans have a great time and enjoy themselves. My cousin went with me and doesn’t even like Katy yet she was dancing and singing along.

It was a rewarding experience and definitely worth your money! From the lights, to the music, to the stage, to the effects, to dancers, to just Katy herself everything was on point.

Over all I can’t wait to seeing her again!

Two words: SO AWESOME. The lights, the outfits, the love. She came on stage with a sparkly red outfit and came out of an eyeball. She sang some songs in the outfit like Chained to the rhythm and Dark Horse. Then she sang a lot of throwback songs all at once, she sang hot n cold (with a bra that changed from hot to cold) , California Gurls, Last Friday night, E.T, teenage dream, and I kissed a girl. Then she got a huge almost desert setup, I even think there was a stripper pole for Bom appetit. Then she was flying on a planet while in a sparkly white outfit. She sang wide awake, power, thinking of you, and she invited a fan onstage. It was cute. Then she got in a blue outfit and sang Swish Swish, hey hey hey, and roar. Then she went off stage. Then came back for the encore, which was a slower version of Firework. Definitely recommend seeing her live.

The concert was a disappointment.

Having purposely flown over to singapore to see her, leaving my toddler and baby behind with my parents in the hotel, we were expecting an entertaining performance based on reviews on her tour. However, It has proven otherwise.

Felt that her effort wasn't there and that there's not much stage presence. Keeps disappearing behind stage for her attire etc.. We don't get to see her enough on stage. She didn't really captivate the crowd and seems like she's only doing the concert for the sake of doing it only. The singing was pre-recorded at some parts - dancing was not energetic.

The part where a fan was invited to stage was pretty interesting. That made everyone smiled. Wish she could have done more like that - connect with the crowd with her singing. Thought the prismatic effect was very cool. Aside from that, this is by far the most boring concert we've been to :(

Katy Perry suffers another blunder over England’s 2024 Euro defeat after new single panned

A picture of Katy Perry drinking from whiskey bottle in Woman's World video

Katy Perry has had another howler just days after her new single got slammed by critics.

Now, she’s caught the eye of England football fans after trying to share a message of support to the Three Lions before Sunday’s heartbreaking loss to Spain in the Euro 2024 final.

Hours before kickoff, the Roar hitmaker excitedly tweeted ‘FOOTBALL IS COMING HOME’ – so far so good.

However, the issue came with the flag emoji she used for her post on X, as she went with the Union Jack, which obviously represents the UK as a whole, rather than St George’s Cross for England.

‘This is the flag,’ wrote fan @JonBerghal alongside the correct flag, adding: ‘You’re welcome.’

‘England ≠ United Kingdom,’ pointed out @ionafyfe, while @DBW77 helpfully explained: ‘That’s the wrong flag Katy. Not everyone in the UK will be supporting England.’

Katy Perry tweet

Not everyone was quite so kind, as @NicholasLissack ranted: ‘You clearly don’t care – you didn’t even get the flag right. Stop latching onto trends to try and be relevant. It’s pathetic.’

And several people replied: ‘Thanks sis next time try to use the correct flag.’

It comes after Katy claimed that her widely criticised come back single is actually ‘satire’- but many fans aren’t so sure.

Her new track, Woman’s World, opens with the line ‘It’s a woman’s world and you’re lucky to be living in it’ and is accompanied by a music video that depicts Katy and her dancers doing traditionally masculine jobs while scantily clad.

Many people feel the song – her first since 2021 – offers surface level, reductive feminism combined with a video catered to the male gaze.

Critics have also slammed it, with The Cut not seeing Woman’s World as nostalgic, but as the result of a ‘2010 relic’ and ‘faded pop star frantically attempting to clamber back to relevance’.

The Guardian called it ‘garbage’ while admitting the track was ‘infernally catchy’ and gave it one star.

Pitchfork said the video indicated Katy ‘had to have feminism explained to her by the top half of the first page of Google.’

Katy Perry on beam flexing muscles with other women in Woman's World video

‘Defying all sense of taste, the pop singer’s comeback single is too dispiriting to even approach camp. It’s abysmal,’ it continued.

Seemingly in response to all this bad press, Katy recently took to X to claim that the song is actually satire. She wrote: ‘YOU CAN DO ANYTHING! EVEN SATIRE!’

YOU CAN DO ANYTHING! EVEN SATIRE! pic.twitter.com/aHFTqcvCVm — KATY PERRY (@katyperry) July 13, 2024

In the accompanying video, which appears to have been taken behind the scenes on the music video set, Katy says: ‘Girl boss shit! You can do it! You go girl! You were born to shine! And we’re kind of just having fun being sarcastic with it, its very slapstick and very on the nose.

‘And with this set it’s like “oooh, we’re not about the male gaze but we really are about the male gaze!” and we’re really overplaying it and on the nose because we’re about to get smashed.

‘Which is like a reset, a reset for me and a reset for my idea of feminine divine and its a whole different world we got to after this. We wanted to open this video making it look like a super high gloss popstar video and that’s what it is.’

Katy Perry wearing white bikini and looking up in Woman's World video

But fans aren’t so sure that Katy’s claims of satire are believable.

X user @eternalcumslime wrote: ‘she heard the critics and thought what load of nothing can i say to defend myself😭😭😭’

@lamborghinibank fired back at Katy: ‘Without any discernible critique of the system that creates the circumstances ostensibly being “satirized” in the first place, it isn’t “satire,” it’s just aimless caricature.’

@moorehn posted: ‘Hey quick question, why are you “satirizing” women for trying to survive in a system that is hostile to them while not critiquing the men who created and benefit from that system? It’s a tough question so ask Dr. Luke if you need help with it.’

To be fair to the singer, there is no way of interpreting the video as anything but extremely campy. At one point, she and a number of other women pose on scaffolding in a picture mimicking the famous shot, Lunch Atop a Skyscraper, taken in New York in 1932.

Katy Perry posing with drill in Woman's World video

She also recreates the Rosie the Riveter poster of a woman flexing her muscles, representing women who worked in factories during World War II.

Midway through the video, Katy is crushed but inflates herself as a ‘super human’ robot, and proceeds to fill herself up with gas via her bum cheek. Nice.

It also sees an appearance from YouTuber Trisha Paytas, who miraculously drags a huge monster truck using just a rope. The star then then drives said jeep – after presumably sorting out the mechanics – with Katy in the passenger seat, haphazardly applying makeup all over her face.

The star struts around in a white bikini and armour leggings, before flying off on the side of a helicopter and exclaiming: ‘I’m Katy Perry!’

Some fans loved the song and video, taking to social media to express their excitement.

‘The jet black hair, the slightly weird music videos, the dance pop sound. Oh Katy Perry is BACK!!!’ raved @EthelJung-j5w.

YouTube user @TACHAYA wrote, ‘KATY PERRY is BACK,’ while others were in bits over Trisha’s appearance as @genshinF2Play said: ‘Trisha, the only youtuber who manage to stay relevant since the inception of youtube. Now thats a f***king flex.;

‘It’s Katy’s world and we’re lucky to be living in it,’ wrote @MystyLena.

‘NEW KATY PERRY ERA IS STARTING.’ wrote @claudiajordan336, while @Vishav02 said: ‘I can’t get over how amazing this chorus is!’

Trisha Patyas dragging monster truck in Woman's World video

‘”I’m Katy Perry,” is actually emotional. no mother we never forgot you,’ said @shakuntalashakuntala1849.

Regardless of fan’s sentiments, the Roar singer’s sixth studio album 143 will be released on September 20, and this first single from it feels like a sign of things to come – for better or worse.

The release of Woman’s World comes after Katy was slammed as ‘morally bankrupt’ when it was reported that controversial producer Dr Luke, 50, is attached to her upcoming album.

Vulture said Dr Luke’s presence on the album ‘negates the song’s entire message’ of feminism and said fans can ‘hear more compelling takes on womanhood’ from other stars.

Katy Perry flexing muscles in Woman's World video

A report from  Rolling Stone  named some of Katy’s collaborators on the new project, and many fans were shocked and appalled to see the music producer and songwriter’s name among them.

Dr Luke previously worked with Perry on many of her songs, including I Kissed a Girl and California Gurls.

Responsible for dozens of massive hits over the past couple of decades, Dr Luke’s name became most notorious for the allegations made against him by pop superstar Kesha , who accused him of years of sexual and emotional abuse.

Dr Luke sued her for defamation shortly after, sparking several years of legal battles that resolved in both parties  agreeing to settle  and move on last year.

Katy Perry deflated on floor in Woman's World video

The entertainment industry seemed to mostly support Kesha, with singers like Kelly Clarkson , Miley Cyrus , and Lady Gaga all rushing to back the We R Who We R singer.

In 2014, Kesha reportedly texted Lady Gaga that the producer had raped Perry,  a claim that Perry herself denied in court  and which was ruled as defamation by the New York Supreme Court.

Perry has had five UK number one singles over the years, including I Kissed A Girl, California Gurls and Roar, as well as two number one albums in Teenage Dream and Prism.

Her last album was 2020’s Smile which reached number five in the UK albums chart.

Taylor Swift

From a VIP tent on the floor to seats up in the rafters, there’s no telling where Travis Kelce will watch Taylor Swift ‘s Eras Tour performances whenever he attends. But the second the show is over, you can pretty much count on him being one place: at his superstar girlfriend’s side, lovingly escorting her off the premises.

The New Heights host has been to more than a dozen Eras Tour concerts since he first came to one of her Kansas City shows last summer. Prior to Swift’s stops in Germany, he attended her concert in Amsterdam with Patrick and Brittany Mahomes, as well as made a surprise onstage cameo in London.

“I’ve seen the show so many times at this point, I’ll find myself in the crowd doing the choreography,” he joked on a recent episode of his podcast.

His appearances at the shows may become less frequent, however, as the Chiefs are set to return for training camp later this month. Swift has one more concert slotted for Gelsenkirchen before she moves on to Hamburg and Munich. After finishing her European leg at the end of the summer, she’ll return to the U.S. and Canada for one final lap before ending the Eras Tour for good in December.

LONDON (AP) — A day after a gilded coronation ceremony watched by millions, King Charles III and Queen Camilla let others take the center stage Sunday as they took in a star-studded concert featuring Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and others at Windsor Castle.

The newly crowned monarch and his wife appeared to enjoy the show as Richie performed “All Night Long,” at one point getting up on their feet and swaying to the music. Other members of the royal family, including 8-year-old Princess Charlotte and Prince George, 9, waved Union flags along with a crowd of some 20,000 gathered on the castle’s east terrace.

Charlotte and her mother, Kate, the Princess of Wales, sang along as Perry, dressed in a gold foil ball gown, performed her pop hit “Roar.”

“Top Gun” star Tom Cruise appeared in a recorded video message, saying: “Pilot to pilot. Your Majesty, you can be my wingman any time.” The mixed program also saw performances by the Royal Ballet, Nicole Scherzinger from the Pussycat Dolls, opera singer Andrea Bocelli and British band Take That.

Even Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog made an appearance, joking with host Hugh Bonneville.

Image

The entertainment was interspersed with more serious moments. A message from Charles on the importance of environmental conservation was played, and the show was accompanied by a light and drone display with a nature theme.

Prince William, heir to the throne, took to the stage to pay tribute to his father’s dedication to service. “Pa, we are all so proud of you,” he said.

Concert goers sang “God Save the King” as landmarks around the U.K. were lit up in colorful lights.

William and his wife, Kate, surprised people picnicking outside the castle before the concert.

Like the picnic in the park, Downing Street and Sunak’s spread — even his teapot — were festooned in the nation’s colors of blue, white and red.

Sausage rolls and salmon were served along with coronation chicken — a dish cooked up for Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation 70 years ago — and coronation quiche, which was picked to suit Charles’ taste and has been the buzz of social media, often for the wrong reasons.

The lower-key events followed regalia-laden pageantry that saw the king and queen crowned together in Westminster Abbey . They were presented with centuries-old swords, scepters and a jewel-encrusted golden orb symbolizing the monarch’s power in a medieval tradition celebrated with liturgy, song and hearty cheers of “God save the king.”

The couple then paraded through the streets in a gilded horse-drawn carriage led by the largest ceremonial military procession since the coronation of Charles’ mother .

The Metropolitan Police said officers detained 64 people Saturday, with four suspects charged with offenses including a religiously aggravated public order offense and drug possession.

At Regent’s Park, celebrants talked about the novelty of what they had witnessed. But the coronation was nothing new for Rosemary McIntosh, 95, just a lot more vivid than the one she saw televised while living in Zimbabwe in 1953.

“We didn’t have TV all day and it was black and white, so it wasn’t as wonderful as has been this one,” she said. ___
