Snorkeling in Key Largo allows travelers to see a whole new world.

Key Largo , the northernmost and longest of the Florida Keys, is a top destination for divers and snorkelers alike. Bordered by Florida Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, the self-titled Dive Capital of the World is home to the first undersea park in the U.S., John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park . This subaquatic treasure features 70 nautical square miles of sparkling turquoise waters and the shallow-water living coral reefs of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary – the only living coral barrier reef in North America and the third-largest living coral reef in the world. These protected and vibrant reefs are home to an abundance of marine life: more than 6,000 species.

One of the most notable attractions when diving or snorkeling in Key Largo is the nearly 9-foot tall, 4,500-pound bronze sculpture known as Christ of the Abyss. It sits deep in the waters of John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park. The statue is the third in a series. The other two lie in the waters of the Italian Riviera and on land at a port in Grenada to honor those who lost their lives at sea. Florida's statue has been submerged since 1965.

After consulting both expert opinion and traveler sentiment, U.S. News identified the following snorkeling tours as the best available. In addition to vibrant reefs, shipwrecks and statues, snorkelers could see angelfish, parrotfish, sea turtles, spotted eagle rays and dolphins, among other marine life.

Note: Wearing sunscreen is encouraged, but you must wear reef-safe sunscreen that is not made with harmful chemicals like oxybenzone and octinoxate.

Key Largo Tour Guide

Getting there.

Air – You won’t be able to catch a commercial flight directly to the Keys, but you will be able to fly to Miami International Airport and be in Key Largo in around an hour! You can also fly into Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, if that’s easier for you. However, it will be around a 2-hour drive instead of a 1-hour from Miami.

From the airports, you can either rent a car or take a shuttle bus, which is more convenient for many people.

Car – From Miami International Airport, you can take LeJeune Road South to 836 West, then take the Florida Turnpike South toward Key West. It will end up at US 1 in Florida City, so you’ll take US 1 South all the way to the Keys.

Shuttle – The Keys Shuttle is the best one to take, offering 3 trips daily. Not only that, but their service runs door-to-door every day, so you don’t have to do much planning or pay extra for cabs/ubers to your destination. If you don’t mind paying a bit more, you could even do their private charter service from Miami and Ft. Lauderdale International!

Train – Did you know you can even take the Amtrak all the way to Ft. Lauderdale? This may be a more relaxing option if your main priority is sightseeing and you don’t want to drive. After arriving in Ft. Lauderdale, you can transfer to the Keys using the shuttle.

Sea – Yes, you can arrive to the Keys by sea! We recommend the Intracoastal Waterway, though if you are a more secure boater you could use the Atlantic side of the Keys as well.

Getting Around

If you’re staying in Key Largo, be prepared to use automotive transportation. Due to the low population, there’s no reason to have a local bus system. Driving a car is probably going to be the easiest way to get around.

Should you need to travel shorter distances, there are plenty of taxis and shuttles available. If you’re unsure of the options in your specific area, you can always ask your hotel concierge. You can also rent a bike, which is a great way to get to know Key Largo. However, there are places where bike paths aren’t complete, which can be inconvenient.

Where to Stay

There are all kinds of hotels, B&Bs, villas, and resorts in Key Largo to suit any taste or budget. Let’s take a look at some of them.

Coconut Palm Inn – This is a more upscale hotel located right on the beachfront. It gets its name from the beautiful coconut grove it’s nestled in the middle of. If you’re into water sports or simply want pristine views of the water, you’ll love it here.

Stay here, and you’ll have access to a pier, marina, fishing, diving, pool, patio, private beach, hammocks, grills, bikes, kayaks, and more!

Atlantic Bay Resort – This one also has its own private beach, beautiful palm trees, private patios, and more. However, the views depend heavily on which type of room you reserve. All of them come with kitchenettes, living rooms, and dining tables. This is great for longer stays or if you’re bringing the entire family along.

Dolphin Point Villas – This luxury resort involves 6 private villas located very close to the Key Largo dolphin rescue. Staying here means you have the chance to see them up close to these incredible beings! Dolphin Cove and John Pennekamp State Park are a mere mile away, and many other parks and notable places are within a few miles, too.

The villas offer 1-bedroom, 3-bed, and 5-bed villas, along with a 1-bedroom suite option.

Amoray Resort – If you’re bringing the entire family along, this is another great option. It’s also a prime selection if you’re on a budget but still want some great features. It has a friendly staff, and a homey, welcoming feel to it.

Playa Largo Resort & Spa, Autograph Collection – With a welcoming staff and Caribbean feel, you’ll feel right at home here. The palm-lined outdoor pool, luxury spa, almost 15 acres of shoreline, and amazing views only add to the experience.

Restaurants and Eating Out

Key Largo actually has some amazing food with notable southern and Caribbean influences. However, you’re bound to find a wide array of cuisines, and there really is something for everybody.

Key Largo Conch House – This family-owned eatery makes it feel like you’re going to a friend’s house who happens to make incredibly delicious food. The ambiance is cozy, as it’s located in an actual house!

If you’re not a fan of conch, sorry, you have to try it here. It’s just too delicious. The Conch Fritters are the most popular dish, but the Cracked Conch Benedict is a must-try for breakfast or brunch.

Buzzard’s Roost – As one of the most popular restaurants in Key Largo, it offers amazing views of the Garden Cove Marina that jives perfectly with their tiki décor. Serving up fresh catches from the nearby sea, you’ll be able to enjoy delicious seafood dishes along with vegetarian options.

Mrs. Mac’s Kitchen – From it’s 1976 inception, this restaurant is a longtime crowd favorite. The kitschy café vibe is as interesting as it is inviting, adding another layer of interest to the already-tasty dishes. Home-cooked favorites like chili, crab cakes, and chowder are the most popular.

The Fish House – Specializing in seafood and offering a laidback place to enjoy it, it’s the epitome of “Florida”. It seamlessly combines nautical culture with a festive feel, while cooking up some fresh catches. Grab a delicious craft beer or specialty cocktail to wash it all down.

DiGiorgio’s Café Largo – For more authentic Italian eats, this place is the way to go. Over 50 years in business, they’re definitely doing something right. You’ll find a combination of traditional dishes combined with those that meld modern with the classic.

Hideout – Are you on the hunt for that warm and cozy southern hospitality? Then look no further! From biscuits and gravy and country benedicts to pulled-pork sandwiches and all-you-can-eat fish frys, it’s always a good choice.

Bayside Grille & Sunset Bar – This is a great choice for a date, or hanging out with friends. The amazing bayside views make it super popular around sunsets, but their food keeps it busy all day long. Seafood nachos are a must, though their calamari with orange chili sauce is fantastic.

Nightlife and Entertainment

During high season, you can expect not only a lot of tourists, but even celebrity spottings out on the town. During fall, it tends to calm down a bit, but there’s always something available for a fun night.

Breezers Tiki Bar and Grille – No time in Key Largo would be complete without a trip to a tiki bar. Breezers is one of the most popular, and it makes sense why. Locals love coming here, and tend to be inviting and happy to strike up a conversation. The air-conditioned bar inside is perfect on particularly hot days, though their floor-to-ceiling doors can be opened up for some fresh air.

Caribbean Club – This one will really take you back in time – to a simpler time. With Humphrey Bogart memorabilia hanging all over the walls (connected to his classic film, “Key Largo”), it’s perfect for watching a sunset or playing some pool.

Snook’s – This is another fun tiki bar, where you can grab some refreshing fruity cocktails and enjoy great live music!

Pilot House – After you go on a snorkeling tour, you have to stop at Pilot House! Located right next to a reef state park, they have such a fun vibe, great snacks, and seafood plates.

Sharkey’s Pub and Galley – Serving food from 11 am to 10 pm, it’s one of the most interesting places to fill up at. It’s not uncommon to see divers coming in after with all their gear, which always makes for a great conversation starter. Downstairs at the pub, you can play pool, darts, enjoy live music, and catch a football game.

Caribbean Club – Speaking of Humphrey Bogart, him and Lauren Bacall actually filmed some of “Key Largo” here at Caribbean Club. It’s also a great way to appreciate some of the local lifestyle and history, enjoy some craft beer, pizza, and more.

Weather in Key Largo does fluctuate a bit, but if you go in the summer you can expect it to be pretty hot. Even during the summer, however, rain and cloudiness isn’t out of the ordinary. Winters, on the other hand, are pretty clear and comfortable. However, they can be a bit humid and windy at times. Overall, you can expect around 80s so it doesn’t really get cold and unpleasant.

Attractions

John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park – We’ve already covered this state park quite a bit already in the tours reviewed above. Set up in 1963 in an effort to protect the country’s last living coral reef, it was named after John D. Pennekamp, who was the former editor of the Miami newspaper. He made quite the effort in preserving the area, which is why they chose his name.

African Queen Canal Cruise – This is one of the most popular activities in Key Largo. Starting through the Port Largo Canals to the beginning of the Atlantic Ocean, this boat has been in use for over 100 years. Originally it was used in what’s now known as the Democratic Republic of the Congo, so it actually was used in Africa!

Later on, it ended up being used in the movie “The African Queen” which became quite the hit. Since 1982, it has been used in Key Largo for tours and cruises.

USS Spiegel Grove Wreck – If you feel more adventurous and are interested in diving sites, check out this one. Measuring 500 feet long, it was once utilized for dock landings for 30 years by the Navy. Horse-eye jacks, coral, and barracuda (among other creatures) call this place home now.

Florida Keys Overseas Heritage Trail – Looking for an inexpensive way to enjoy the area? Maybe you’d like to get in some fresh air and exercise? Then check out the over 70 miles of trails where you can bike, walk, run, skate, and more.

Island Dolphin Care – This experience is a great way to see how amazing animals are. This program offers physical, emotional, and educational aid to people with special needs through “dolphin therapy”. However, there are also guided tours of the facility where you can watch these dolphins up close.

Florida Keys Wild Bird Rehab Center – Located 7 miles from downtown Key Largo, it rescues injured or harmed birds and rehabilitates them. If you take a tour, you’ll get to see rare birds and also learn all about keeping them safe.

Jules Undersea Lodge – Technically this is a hotel accommodation, which we do recommend if you’re up for something unique. However, it’s also a top tourist attraction as you are literally underwater! There are Mini Adventure Tours available if you don’t want to stay overnight. You just have to throw on a scuba suit to do so!

  • We recommend visiting between December and March. During this time, you’ll be able to escape the cold of many mainland US states while enjoying all the Keys have to offer. During the holiday season, they have all kinds of celebrations like their annual cook-off and a holiday boat parade!
  • Avoid hurricane season, which is between June and late October. If extra heat and the chance of tropical storms doesn’t bother you, however, it’s a great way to save some money on hotels.
  • Don’t feed manatees. Key Largo does have quite a few manatees that live in the area, and they do sometimes like to come up to kayakers and snorkelers to say “hi”. However, it’s completely prohibited to touch, feed, or disturb them in any way.
  • Rent a car. While there are taxis and shuttles available, if you don’t want to wait around for anyone else you can just rent a car. This will offer you more freedom to check out parks, grab some food, and see more remote locations as you wish.

Horseshoe Reef

Horseshoe Reef is one of our favorite dive sites within the Key Largo Dry Rocks Area. With depths ranging from 5ft to 25ft this makes an amazing dive site for Open Water Divers, Photographers and Snorkelers alike. Horsehoe Reef has surprises waiting around every corner – winding swim throughs, a large formation of elk horn coral and home to an abundance of Parrot Fish, Sergeant Majors and Lobsters!

key largo snorkeling tours

Fingers Reef

Southeast of the Elbow, this reef forms a spur and groove formation featuring coral ridges, topped by giant Elkhorn corals. These shallow coral colonies provide excellent habitats for schooling grunts and other tropical fish. This is a great site for photographers given the shallow depths and massive variety of marine life.

key largo snorkeling tours

Carysfort Reef & Carysfort Ledge

Located north of the Grecian rocks, Carysfort is one of the largest major reef systems in the sanctuary. The beautiful reef consists of acres and acres of shallow reef systems, edged by a steep drop off to 75 ft – Carysfort Ledge. Along the sloping wall there are beautiful arrays of Coral formations and marine life. If snorkeling make sure to swim near Carysfort lighthouse to visit the Elkhorn coral gardens.

Train Wheels Reef

Train wheels reef is the resting place of a an old sunken supply barge. While the wreck has become part of the reef, the cargo the ship was carrying that day – train wheels for the Flagler Railroad- are still found scattered around the ocean floor. Large Elkhorn Coral has adopted & grown from the wheels which protect large schools of fish!

key largo snorkeling tours

Anchor Chain Reef

Just south of the City of Washington dive site is the Anchor Chain Reef dive site. Upon first glance of this site, it’s easy to see how it received its name. A large fishing barge used to utilize these anchors as other ships came to unload their fishing hauls for the day. In 1960, Hurricane Donna caused irreparable damage to the barge, leaving wreckage that is still there to this day.

key largo snorkeling tours

Banana Reef

Banana Reef is on the most southern end of the Grecian Rocks area. Banana Reef gets its name from the long and sloped ledge that well, looks like a banana! It’s a beautiful place to dive in Key Largo.

key largo snorkeling tours

Benwood Wreck

The S.S. Benwood was a steam-powered cargo ship that was built in 1910. On April 9th, 1942, the Benwood was lost in a collision in Key Largo. It is believed by many that the shipwreck was then used for aerial target practice by the U.S. Army after WWII ended. It’s one of the most popular shipwreck dive sites in Key Largo. It is located just east of the molasses reef.

Christ of the Abyss Statue

Christ of the Abyss

Just North of the Grecian Rocks, widely considered one of the most popular dive sites worldwide, the Christ of the Abyss statue is the third bronze of the original mold, the “Il Christo Degli Abissi” from the Mediterranean Sea. Because the site is relatively shallow, the site attracts not only divers but snorkelers as well.

City of Washington Wreck

City of Washington Wreck

An iron-hulled steamer named the City of Washington, or S.S. City Washington, was launched in 1877. The ship was used for passenger transport and cargo trade, often traveling between New York, Cuba, and Mexico. During the Spanish-American war, the ship was used as a transport ship for troops. A tugboat was towing the City of Washington and another ship, but the ship ran aground, and the City of Washington, unfortunately, broke up and sank on July 10th, 1917.

N. North Ledges Reef

On the north end of the French reef above the molasses reef, the North Ledges provide beautiful views of spur and groove coral formations, and sand channels that are parallel to the main reef. Hawksbill, Green, and Loggerhead turtles are often found at this reef, as well as Southern Stingrays, Nurse Sharks, and Green Moray Eels. The ledges also are home to large schools of bait fish.

key largo snorkeling tours

S. South Ledges Reef

S. South Ledges reef is the deepest section of the reef, as well as the southernmost point. It’s a very steep drop-off, and another beautiful dive location in Key Largo. It’s relatively close to the City of Washington Wreck, north of alligator reef.

key largo snorkeling tours

Spiegel Grove Wreck

In June of 2002, the Spiegel Grove was sunk in Key Largo. Fascinatingly, the ship was turned upright by Hurricane Dennis in 2005, allowing divers an opportunity of a lifetime to see the vast marine life that call the ship home. The USS spiegel grove is becoming an entire reef ecosystem, located north east of the molasses reef.

How Do Snorkeling Masks Work?

A snorkeling mask creates a watertight seal against the face using a soft rubber or silicone skirt, allowing the wearer to see clearly underwater. The tempered glass lenses provide durability and clarity, while the nose pocket facilitates pressure equalization. Secured by an adjustable strap, the mask ensures a comfortable fit, enabling an enjoyable and leak-free snorkeling experience.

Can Snorkeling Cause Vertigo?

Snorkeling itself typically does not cause vertigo. Vertigo is often associated with inner ear issues or disturbances in the vestibular system, and snorkeling is not known to directly trigger these conditions.

Can You Snorkel When It’s Cloudy?

Snorkeling when it’s cloudy is completely possible and can still be an enjoyable experience. While sunny weather enhances visibility, cloudy conditions do not necessarily prevent snorkeling.

Is it Safe to Snorkel While Pregnant?

Snorkeling during pregnancy is generally considered safe for women with uncomplicated pregnancies. However, at Silent World Dive Center, we recommend consulting with a healthcare professional before engaging in any water-based activities while pregnant. Factors such as individual health, the stage of pregnancy, and water conditions should be taken into account to ensure the well-being of both the expectant mother and the baby.

Can Snorkeling Make You Sick?

Snorkeling itself does not typically cause illness, but factors like motion sickness and waterborne contaminants can affect some individuals. Silent World Dive Center prioritizes guest safety by providing guidance on preventing motion sickness, choosing snorkel sites with good water quality, and emphasizing hygiene practices. By following these measures, guests can enjoy a safe and enjoyable snorkeling experience with minimized health concerns.

Can Snorkeling Be Dangerous?

Snorkeling, like any water-based activity, carries inherent risks. However, with proper precautions and adherence to safety guidelines, the risks can be significantly minimized. At Silent World Dive Center, your safety is our top priority, and we take several measures to ensure a secure and enjoyable snorkeling experience for all our guests.

How Much to Tip a Snorkel Tour

The customary gratuity for a snorkel tour typically ranges around $10 per person or 15-20% of the total cost of the snorkeling excursion . Snorkel tour guides merit a gratuity when they elevate the tour into an exciting and enjoyable experience. You can guage how much to tip your snorkel tour guide by whether they go the extra mile and create an atmosphere of warmth and hospitality – but also ensure that their guests have a safe and pleasurable journey. Tipping is entirely optional, and individuals have the freedom to refrain from tipping, particularly if they are dissatisfied with the service provided.

Why Is Florida Keys Called The Dive Capital Of The World?

The Florida Keys is home to the last living coral reef in North America; and the 3rd largest barrier in the world. Because of this, many realize that this is a one-of-a-kind experience. The sites are also easily accessible to divers and snorkelers, making Key Largo snorkeling an experience to remember.

Why Take A Snorkel Tour In Florida Keys?

Our tours provide an unforgettable journey to the underwater world that can’t be found anywhere else. We provide care and attention to each person that visits these amazing coral reefs. Here at Silent World, our center is run by a 5-star PADI- trained instructors and staff that prioritize your enjoyment and safety. Our tours are small-group excursions that give all patrons the time and attention they need to truly capture the full experience of this amazing world below the surface. Our mission is to give you an amazing experience you will never forget!

What Is the Best Time to Snorkel in Key Largo

Key Largo's incredibly clear water and world-famous reefs make for fantastic snorkeling any time of the day. That said, as with most diving, sunlight penetrates the deepest when it is directly overhead, typically at or just after noon.

Can You Snorkel From the Shore in Key Largo?

There are two designated areas for beach-accessible snorkeling in John Pennekamp State Park. However, the most beautiful snorkeling locations are only accessible by dive boat. Let our team take you to life changing locations around the reef, like The Christ of the Abyss Statue, the Benwood wreck, and so much more.

How Warm is the Water in Key Largo?

In the Summer and Fall months, water temperatures can climb as high as 86°F (30°C). Winter temperatures typically range between 68°F (20°C) and 76°F (24°C).

Do I Need a Wetsuit to Snorkel in Key Largo?

With winter temperatures ranging between 68° F and 76° F, this depends on you. If you are accustomed to diving in cool mountain lakes, you probably wouldn't notice it if you were swimming sans wetsuit. If you are used to warmer snorkeling waters, you'll likely want a wetsuit. Silent World has wetsuits available for use.

Is It Safe to Swim in Key Largo?

Swimming in Key Largo is as safe as any other world-class snorkeling location - the safety depends on you! If you are a capable swimmer, and listen to the instructions of the Silent World Staff member, swimming the beautiful water of Key Largo is perfectly safe.

What Is A National Marine Sanctuary?

A National Marine Sanctuary is a zone where marine life has special protection. These sanctuaries were made in response to the speedy destruction of many marine ecosystems. Here we proudly protect and promote the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary! Key Largo snorkeling allows you to view how we protect the area so it can grow and flourish.

Where Are Coral Reefs Found?

Other than the Florida Keys, coral reefs are found on the borders of Australia, India, Fiji, the Phillippines, Papua New Guinea, and the Maldives. Reef systems are typically found in tropical and subtropical waters and usually need strong waves to bring nutrients and oxygen to the reef.

What Animals Live In The Coral Reef?

All of our Key Largo snorkeling sites have such a diverse spectacle of marine life. You’ll be able to experience seeing the exotic array of tropical fish, lobsters, nurse sharks, barracudas, sting rays, and even endangered sea turtles! When you snorkel at Key Largo, you’ll be able to see this rare, beautiful creature in its protected and natural habitat.

What Is An Artificial Reef?

An artificial reef is a man-made structure that is built to promote marine life in the area. When snorkeling at Key Largo, one of our largest artificial reefs is the Speigel Grove site, which is a Landing Ship Dock that sunk in 2002, creating its own reef system. The ship is full of hundreds of tropical fish, coral, and sponges, twisting and combining itself with the human-made structure. It is a mysterious and challenging site for those who want to test their skills. This is one artificial reef you won’t want to miss!

How Does Pollution Affect Sea Life?

Our lives on land are interconnected with the lives of our friends in the ocean. More than 8 million metric tons of plastic waste make their way into the ocean each year, causing marine animals to either swallow large amounts or become entangled in our man-made trash. This leads to the deaths of millions of sea creatures by starvation or severe injury. The rest of the plastic waste then breaks down into even smaller pieces and absorbs toxic chemicals that kill off coral reefs and other ecosystems in the ocean. We each must do our part to protect the ocean and its creatures. Just as their lives are tied to us, our lives are tied to their survival as well.

How Many Keys Are In The Florida Keys?

There are over 800 keys in total! These low-lying coral islands stretch for over 120 miles, varying in size and accessibility. Coral reefs are found at each of these sites. Some of these are very small islands, but the larger ones, like Key Largo and Key West, are quite busy and popular sites.

What Are The Names Of The Florida Keys?

The Florida Keys are made up of hundreds of keys; sorting through all the names is quite the challenge! However, the largest and most popular isles of the Florida Keys are divided up into five main regions: Key Largo, Islamorada, Marathon, Big Pine, and Key West.

What Is The History Behind The Grecian Rock?

Grecian rocks are a coral reef that is right off the side of the Christ of the Abyss snorkeling site. It’s one of the most popular and studied reefs within the Florida Keys Marine Sanctuary and is known for its unique structure and look. It’s a favorite diving site due to the amazing coral diversity, the clear waters, and the calm back-reef area.

We specialize in snorkel tours in Key Largo to John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park to see the amazing underwater world. The John Pennekamp underwater park is the only underwater sate park in the USA and is a smaller part of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary that was from in 1990. The park stretches from the shoreline out to the 6 mile point on the other site of the reef system. We travel to the park twice a day from our dock in the Pilot House Marina.

In the park you will see our amazing reefs covered in fish of all shapes and sizes.  The visibility is often crystal clear and you can see the bottom before you get off our boat. Most of the reef systems are in around 25 feet of water and in some places as shallow as 8 feet of water. The magnificent turquoise color of the water is an amazing sight to see and worth going out on a boat just to see it. bring your family and friends for a morning or afternoon on the reef and you won’t be disappointed even if you don’t get in to the water.

Located close to the water our boats have a purpose built swim step on the back that makes it real easy to get into the water and a large ladder with 4 steps to ensure you can get back on easily. No jumping off from a big boat.

Avoiding the crowds

We believe that smaller groups are better for both the safety of our customers and the impact on the reefs. Having smaller groups enables us to provide individual attention to every customer and keep a watchfull eye whilst your in the ocean. We offer private snorkel charters for individual groups up to 12 snorkelers. This ensures that it will only be your group on the boat. You can sit back and relax between your snorkel excursions and can get on and off the boat as many times as you like. Don’t want to go too far away from the boat? You can just get in and hold on to our safety line and float around with one of our noodles.

Snorkel Tours depart at 8am and return around 11.30am  and again at 1pm returning around 4.30pm .  It takes around 35 minutes each way to get to the reef and back giving plenty of time to snorkel.  We go to two separate snorkel sites and spend up to an hour at each site.

Snorkel Tours include Mask, snorkel, fins, safety vest. Wetsuits if required can be rented per person @ $10 each trip. On board we also provide Iced Water, reef safe sunscreen and a great sense of humor.  We know that you will have a great time!

How will we see the best wildlife

swimstep

If you have not snorkeled before our crew will give you expert instruction before you get into the water. You will be briefed on what the reef looks like but you can be sure you wont have to go far from the boat to see all the cool wildlife.  If you would like to have a guide in the water with you we can arrange this at a small additional charge of $100 for 1 person and $10 for each additional person up to 6 people.

Our snorkel boats are licensed 22 snorkelers but we usually carry between 10 and 12 so comfort and service levels are high!

How do we book a tour?

We advise that you make reservations at least a day in advance. During busy periods in the summer book a week or two in advance as we can be pretty sure the weather will be good for you to go out most days. Our private and exclusive snorkel tours are $599 per group and you get the boat just to your group of up to 12 passengers(you do not have to snorkel if you do not want to!). The booking process is quick and all online if you choose, we just need your name, telephone number, email address and credit card details to secure your reservation.

Either call or email us or for an instant reservation use the book now button on this website!

Ray by Statue of Christ of the Abyss

Where else do we go?

One of the most popular Snorkel trips is to the statue of Christ at Key Largo Dry Rocks.  A great site with lots of reef fish and we often see Stingrays there. Make sure to let the crew know that you want to go to the statue when you get on the boat and we will head out that way for sure!

Our crews know the reef and will not just take you to the standard places but will assess conditions of the whole reef and take you to a great snorkel site that will have the least crowds on it.

If the Weather is not good to go to the reef?

When weather does not allow our Snorkel Trips to go to the reef we run eco tours out on the Bayside where we take you to the mangrove Islands and you can snorkel Key Largos fish nursery.  We can often see baby sharks, Sea Horses and all manner of small interesting critters.  This tour also includes passage through Adams Cut and under the US1.

Want to try SCUBA diving on the reef?

We can teach you the basics of SCUBA diving in our local pool and take you out for two dives on the magical Key Largo Coral reef in the afternoon!  Check out our Discover SCUBA Diving program.

Wow what a fantastic kayak trip! Captain Jeff was so knowledgeable about the area, made sure we were safe, and made the trip so personalized and interesting. He took us through some amazing mangrove tunnels in Pennekamp State Park that were secluded...we didn't even another person during the entire trip.! Highly recommended.

This was the most fun we had while visiting the keys. Jeff was an amazing host and very knowledgeable about the area. Highly recommend this company.

Look no further than key largo water fun!!! This is the best thing money can buy. Completely private boat tour. Captain Jeff had everything spotless and seamless during our trip. 100000% recommend don't even look at other companies this is the best boat company in the keys. Took us to 2 reefs and 1 sand bar! Even had floats, water bottles, and towels ready for us as we returned to the boat. Can't get over this experience and may never will. Could not recommend this company more.

One of the largest artists' communities in the Florida Keys is Stock Island in the Lower Keys, just about three miles from the commercial area of Key West. What was once a shrimping boat marina is now a blend of fishermen and painters, sculptors and other artisans who have created an energetic and supportive community.

For history buffs, in addition to Pigeon Key in Marathon and the Civil War–era Fort Jefferson in Dry Tortugas National Park, other must-stops in Key West include the Audubon House & Tropical Gardens, Harry S. Truman Little White House and the Southernmost Point in the continental United States.
