Location and contact.

Booked online for a dinner of six friends on a Saturday night in Avignon. Restaurant is located in the city centre, but a bit outside the crowded and noisy part. Location is very cozy, with very tasteful decoration. Menu is filled with French classics, with... both fish and meat present, and the wine list is interesting. Meat quality was very good and perfectly cooked. Service was correct, while a bit slow. More

We were a table of 5 who had dinner here. I had the set menu, which was delicious, the clams especially were delicious. At our table we also had a sharing plate, foie gras, steak, the iberian pork all of which were fantastic. The garden... is a lovely place to have dinner and the service was fantastic too. Would definitely recommend this restaurant. More

A restaurant away from the crowd, in a hidden alley where you feel the true Provençal spirit. Lovely local dishes (zucchini flowers, eggplants etc..) a huge selection of wines, and a delightful terrace. And what a pleasure to eat Al Fresco! We will be back!

Nice setting, but ended up with a big price surprise. We trusted the waiters recommendation of Cote de Boeuf, without being made aware of the pricing per gross weight. An enormous piece of meat was cut and served, of which the two of us struggled... to eat about 20% since it was tough and not very tasty either. Unusual wine list in the form of a scrapbook over many pages made it hard to grasp. Wine recommendation was not disclosed until fait accompli, and it turned out to be the most expensive, but not impressive, CdP on the list. This was a disappointment after several other agreeable, tastier -and- cheaper restaurant meals in Avignon. More

We decided to treat ourselves for our last evening in Avignon, Pollen was fully booked and Bernard the cheese supplier recommended this place. It started well, lovely setting, nice table, good waiting staff, nice cocktails. We shared the foie gras starter which was good, then... Hazel chose the lamb steaks and I treated myself to a cote de boeuf. Hazel's lamb was overdone, uneatable, my beef looked like it had been cooked with a blowtorch, completed charred I tried to eat it but it was tough and had a funny taste. We sent them back. The waitress returned with my beef sliced and asked me to try it again as it was just the nerve that was tough, it was still tough, had an unpleasant smell too. Hazels replacement was fine, my replacement was too but by then it was to late. I asked for some more fries to go with the second effort and was charged 5 euros! The next day I was terribly ill, I contacted the restaurant to let them know, the owner said the beef was probably too mature for me! It was basically rotten and had been overcooked in an effort to disguise this fact. We won't be going back More

My tour guide recommended this restaurant for me saying that it’s amazing. I came with a group of friends and everything was terrible from the start. As we sat down at our table we waited for 30 minutes to just receive the menus, and yet... another 30 minutes for our order to be taken. The starters (obviously came late) were simply not tasty, most of us had foie gras which was absolutely tasteless, while the some of the tomatoes in the salad had mould. But the whole situation got even funnier when we suddenly received the toasted bread when we already finished the foie gras (apparently the waitress forgot about it). As of the main dishes, the beef was tough and impossible to chew, and the risottos came ice cold. We did ask for the manager and explained the situation to her, to which her reply was simply “I know my meat, it’s biologique”. Moreover we had to queue at the front desk to pay for our bill in the end, but at that point nothing surprised us anymore. In total we wasted 3 hours at a place with no decent service or food. In the style of the manager of the restaurant I will conclude this review with a simple DO NOT RECCOMEND. More

We dined at Pascal Barnouin’s restaurant for lunch. It was by far our best meal in France. You can get some great meals at top rated restaurants, but we had the authentic taste of Provence here. Fresh cooked vegetables with divine sauces and fresh fish... ending with amazing lemon sorbet (best we ever had) on top of fresh fruits. Healthy and delicious! Wow! More

Good food, simple and incredibly good quality. Texture, taste, smell and presentation, warm atmosphere, staff, make you appreciate the restaurant and feel special as a customer.

We found this restaurant in a quiet back street well away from the hustle and bustle. It had recently been taken over by a new chef. We sat outside under the candlelit trees and enjoyed great food and wine. Our waiter was most attentive and... the chef even came out to say a few words to us with the waiter translating. This restaurant is close to the wall around central Avignon and tucked away in a residential area but well worth finding. More

Maison de la Tour is one of the best kept secrets in old Avignon. It provides a great atmosphere of outdoor dining, with a classy menu. I required a gluten free meal so we showed the waiter and chef at Maison de la Tour the... gluten free card in French. They were effusive with their capacity and desire to provide options. The waiter, speaking fluent English, explained that most of their menu either was gluten free or could be adapted. We were certainly not disappointed, having one of the tastiest and best presented meals of our trip, in a pleasant outdoor setting, a zucchini flower, beef casserole and indulgent macaroon topped with lemon curd and berries. We visited this restaurant on a busy Saturday night and the staff’s attention to small details greatly impressed us. They had read the booking confirmation so they knew my wife was coeliac, so the plates they offered her were catered to her needs. It is... such a small detail but if makes such a difference. The food was superb, we had an Iberico sharing platter as a starter and it was amazing. It tasted fresh, flavoursome and it was beautifully presented. All the food and we had was divine, the little extras that staff brought over in between courses was a nice touch. Gluten free options were no problem. If only all restaurants were this good!!!! Un magnifique moment passer à deux dans un cadre chaleureux. De l'entrée au dessert en passant par le service tout était parfait. Nous reviendrons c'est certain ! Merci.

Cadre atypique et agréable , accueil sympathique mais attention au choix du plat , viande ++ mais cassolette de st Jacques et sole vraiment très chiche pour le prix (portion correspondant à une entrée avec un peu d’effiloché de poisson et une St Jacques baignent... dans la crème pour 28€, pas assez goûteux ni relevé) Je l’ai signalé à la serveuse qui m’a proposé un digestif mais je ne suis pas adepte et le cuisinier (ou patron ?) n’a pas proposé un autre geste. Booked online for a dinner of six friends on a Saturday night in Avignon. Restaurant is located in the city centre, but a bit outside the crowded and noisy part. Location is very cozy, with very tasteful decoration. Menu is filled with French classics, with... both fish and meat present, and the wine list is interesting. Meat quality was very good and perfectly cooked. Service was correct, while a bit slow. More

We were a table of 5 who had dinner here. I had the set menu, which was delicious, the clams especially were delicious. At our table we also had a sharing plate, foie gras, steak, the iberian pork all of which were fantastic. The garden... is a lovely place to have dinner and the service was fantastic too. Would definitely recommend this restaurant. More

A restaurant away from the crowd, in a hidden alley where you feel the true Provençal spirit. Lovely local dishes (zucchini flowers, eggplants etc..) a huge selection of wines, and a delightful terrace. And what a pleasure to eat Al Fresco! We will be back!

Nice setting, but ended up with a big price surprise. We trusted the waiters recommendation of Cote de Boeuf, without being made aware of the pricing per gross weight. An enormous piece of meat was cut and served, of which the two of us struggled... to eat about 20% since it was tough and not very tasty either. Unusual wine list in the form of a scrapbook over many pages made it hard to grasp. Wine recommendation was not disclosed until fait accompli, and it turned out to be the most expensive, but not impressive, CdP on the list. This was a disappointment after several other agreeable, tastier -and- cheaper restaurant meals in Avignon. More

We decided to treat ourselves for our last evening in Avignon, Pollen was fully booked and Bernard the cheese supplier recommended this place. It started well, lovely setting, nice table, good waiting staff, nice cocktails. We shared the foie gras starter which was good, then... Hazel chose the lamb steaks and I treated myself to a cote de boeuf. Hazel's lamb was overdone, uneatable, my beef looked like it had been cooked with a blowtorch, completed charred I tried to eat it but it was tough and had a funny taste. We sent them back. The waitress returned with my beef sliced and asked me to try it again as it was just the nerve that was tough, it was still tough, had an unpleasant smell too. Hazels replacement was fine, my replacement was too but by then it was to late. I asked for some more fries to go with the second effort and was charged 5 euros! The next day I was terribly ill, I contacted the restaurant to let them know, the owner said the beef was probably too mature for me! It was basically rotten and had been overcooked in an effort to disguise this fact. We won't be going back More

My tour guide recommended this restaurant for me saying that it’s amazing. I came with a group of friends and everything was terrible from the start. As we sat down at our table we waited for 30 minutes to just receive the menus, and yet... another 30 minutes for our order to be taken. The starters (obviously came late) were simply not tasty, most of us had foie gras which was absolutely tasteless, while the some of the tomatoes in the salad had mould. But the whole situation got even funnier when we suddenly received the toasted bread when we already finished the foie gras (apparently the waitress forgot about it). As of the main dishes, the beef was tough and impossible to chew, and the risottos came ice cold. We did ask for the manager and explained the situation to her, to which her reply was simply “I know my meat, it’s biologique”. Moreover we had to queue at the front desk to pay for our bill in the end, but at that point nothing surprised us anymore. In total we wasted 3 hours at a place with no decent service or food. In the style of the manager of the restaurant I will conclude this review with a simple DO NOT RECCOMEND. More

We dined at Pascal Barnouin’s restaurant for lunch. It was by far our best meal in France. You can get some great meals at top rated restaurants, but we had the authentic taste of Provence here. Fresh cooked vegetables with divine sauces and fresh fish... ending with amazing lemon sorbet (best we ever had) on top of fresh fruits. Healthy and delicious! Wow! More

Good food, simple and incredibly good quality. Texture, taste, smell and presentation, warm atmosphere, staff, make you appreciate the restaurant and feel special as a customer.

We found this restaurant in a quiet back street well away from the hustle and bustle. It had recently been taken over by a new chef. We sat outside under the candlelit trees and enjoyed great food and wine. Our waiter was most attentive and... the chef even came out to say a few words to us with the waiter translating. This restaurant is close to the wall around central Avignon and tucked away in a residential area but well worth finding. More

Maison de la Tour is one of the best kept secrets in old Avignon. It provides a great atmosphere of outdoor dining, with a classy menu. I required a gluten free meal so we showed the waiter and chef at Maison de la Tour the... gluten free card in French. They were effusive with their capacity and desire to provide options. The waiter, speaking fluent English, explained that most of their menu either was gluten free or could be adapted. We were certainly not disappointed, having one of the tastiest and best presented meals of our trip, in a pleasant outdoor setting, a zucchini flower, beef casserole and indulgent macaroon topped with lemon curd and berries. We visited this restaurant on a busy Saturday night and the staff’s attention to small details greatly impressed us. They had read the booking confirmation so they knew my wife was coeliac, so the plates they offered her were catered to her needs. It is... such a small detail but if makes such a difference. The food was superb, we had an Iberico sharing platter as a starter and it was amazing. It tasted fresh, flavoursome and it was beautifully presented. All the food and we had was divine, the little extras that staff brought over in between courses was a nice touch. Gluten free options were no problem. If only all restaurants were this good!!!! More

Amazing experience and incredible local cuisine! Pascal is a wonderful host and the restaurant is stunning, beautiful atmosphere!

We accidentally come to this restaurant. They serve amazingly delicious food with friendly staff who speak good English. Great atmosphere. Perfect for celebration or group dinner.

Booked online for a dinner of six friends on a Saturday night in Avignon. Restaurant is located in the city centre, but a bit outside the crowded and noisy part. Location is very cozy, with very tasteful decoration. Menu is filled with French classics, with... both fish and meat present, and the wine list is interesting. Meat quality was very good and perfectly cooked. Service was correct, while a bit slow. More

We were a table of 5 who had dinner here. I had the set menu, which was delicious, the clams especially were delicious. At our table we also had a sharing plate, foie gras, steak, the iberian pork all of which were fantastic. The garden... is a lovely place to have dinner and the service was fantastic too. Would definitely recommend this restaurant. More

A restaurant away from the crowd, in a hidden alley where you feel the true Provençal spirit. Lovely local dishes (zucchini flowers, eggplants etc..) a huge selection of wines, and a delightful terrace. And what a pleasure to eat Al Fresco! We will be back!

Nice setting, but ended up with a big price surprise. We trusted the waiters recommendation of Cote de Boeuf, without being made aware of the pricing per gross weight. An enormous piece of meat was cut and served, of which the two of us struggled... to eat about 20% since it was tough and not very tasty either. Unusual wine list in the form of a scrapbook over many pages made it hard to grasp. Wine recommendation was not disclosed until fait accompli, and it turned out to be the most expensive, but not impressive, CdP on the list. This was a disappointment after several other agreeable, tastier -and- cheaper restaurant meals in Avignon. More

We decided to treat ourselves for our last evening in Avignon, Pollen was fully booked and Bernard the cheese supplier recommended this place. It started well, lovely setting, nice table, good waiting staff, nice cocktails. We shared the foie gras starter which was good, then... Hazel chose the lamb steaks and I treated myself to a cote de boeuf. Hazel's lamb was overdone, uneatable, my beef looked like it had been cooked with a blowtorch, completed charred I tried to eat it but it was tough and had a funny taste. We sent them back. The waitress returned with my beef sliced and asked me to try it again as it was just the nerve that was tough, it was still tough, had an unpleasant smell too. Hazels replacement was fine, my replacement was too but by then it was to late. I asked for some more fries to go with the second effort and was charged 5 euros! The next day I was terribly ill, I contacted the restaurant to let them know, the owner said the beef was probably too mature for me! It was basically rotten and had been overcooked in an effort to disguise this fact. We won't be going back More

My tour guide recommended this restaurant for me saying that it’s amazing. I came with a group of friends and everything was terrible from the start. As we sat down at our table we waited for 30 minutes to just receive the menus, and yet... another 30 minutes for our order to be taken. The starters (obviously came late) were simply not tasty, most of us had foie gras which was absolutely tasteless, while the some of the tomatoes in the salad had mould. But the whole situation got even funnier when we suddenly received the toasted bread when we already finished the foie gras (apparently the waitress forgot about it). As of the main dishes, the beef was tough and impossible to chew, and the risottos came ice cold. We did ask for the manager and explained the situation to her, to which her reply was simply “I know my meat, it’s biologique”. Moreover we had to queue at the front desk to pay for our bill in the end, but at that point nothing surprised us anymore. In total we wasted 3 hours at a place with no decent service or food. In the style of the manager of the restaurant I will conclude this review with a simple DO NOT RECCOMEND. More

We dined at Pascal Barnouin’s restaurant for lunch. It was by far our best meal in France. You can get some great meals at top rated restaurants, but we had the authentic taste of Provence here. Fresh cooked vegetables with divine sauces and fresh fish... ending with amazing lemon sorbet (best we ever had) on top of fresh fruits. Healthy and delicious! Wow! More

Good food, simple and incredibly good quality. Texture, taste, smell and presentation, warm atmosphere, staff, make you appreciate the restaurant and feel special as a customer.

We found this restaurant in a quiet back street well away from the hustle and bustle. It had recently been taken over by a new chef. We sat outside under the candlelit trees and enjoyed great food and wine. Our waiter was most attentive and... the chef even came out to say a few words to us with the waiter translating. This restaurant is close to the wall around central Avignon and tucked away in a residential area but well worth finding. More

Maison de la Tour is one of the best kept secrets in old Avignon. It provides a great atmosphere of outdoor dining, with a classy menu. I required a gluten free meal so we showed the waiter and chef at Maison de la Tour the... gluten free card in French. They were effusive with their capacity and desire to provide options. The waiter, speaking fluent English, explained that most of their menu either was gluten free or could be adapted. We were certainly not disappointed, having one of the tastiest and best presented meals of our trip, in a pleasant outdoor setting, a zucchini flower, beef casserole and indulgent macaroon topped with lemon curd and berries. Found this restaurant on trip advisor, really great food, great staff, spoke some English but not much Is really a restaurant for locals , extremely clean , great vide and delicious fresh food I’ll go back again Gavin

We visited this restaurant on a busy Saturday night and the staff’s attention to small details greatly impressed us. They had read the booking confirmation so they knew my wife was coeliac, so the plates they offered her were catered to her needs. It is... such a small detail but if makes such a difference. The food was superb, we had an Iberico sharing platter as a starter and it was amazing. It tasted fresh, flavoursome and it was beautifully presented. All the food and we had was divine, the little extras that staff brought over in between courses was a nice touch. Gluten free options were no problem. If only all restaurants were this good!!!! More

There are only two places I eat in Avignon - here at La Mason de la Tour and La Mirande - two best chefs in Avignon - La Mason de la Tour is managed by chef and owners / husband : wife team that will... treat you like family. More
