A destination that combines nature and culture

Malta is a European island state located in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. This small archipelago will surprise you with its rich historical and natural treasures. Located at the strategic crossroads of maritime routes, it bears the traces of every civilisation that has set sail from its coasts, which gives it a rich mix of cultures. Despite its small size, its landscapes are diverse and there is a wealth of things to do on the archipelago. There are also many incredible sites to visit on Malta’s smaller islands, such as the Blue Lagoon, a beautiful turquoise cove off the island of Comino. By contrast, the island of Gozo will astound you with its authentic wilderness. No matter where you look, Malta will seduce you with its multifaceted beauty.

A beautiful sun-drenched island at the crossroads of cultures

The island of Malta offers culture lovers a wonderful snapshot of 7,000 years of history. The Phoenicians, the Knights of Malta and the British have all left their mark on the island. Its capital, Valletta, is full of buildings that will astound you, as well as charming little towns to wander through, such as Mdina, the island's former capital. Malta’s northern coastline is also a popular destination for diving and beach holidays. For young people, it is a great place to party – especially St. Julian's, which is known for its lively nightlife and trendy nightclubs.

Despite being one of Europe's smallest capitals, Valletta has an exceptional concentration of over 300 monuments, which has earned it a place on the World Heritage List. It is located on the north-east coast of Malta, on the Xiberras Peninsula. Founded in the mid-16th century, its name is a tribute to the Knights Hospitaller of Saint John of Jerusalem, John of Valletta, who supported the Maltese siege against the Ottomans. Distance from the airport: 9 km.

The very modern appeal of the town of Sliema provides a vivid contrast with the cultural city of Valletta and its many historic monuments. It is Malta's largest city and a tourist hotspot bursting with hotels, shops, restaurants, nightclubs and other points of interest. Most of its attractions can be found on the two main boulevards, Tower Road and Strand. Highlights include Fort Manoel, Fort Tigne and Il Fortizza. Valletta can be reached by water taxi from the beach. Distance to the airport: 12 km.

St. Julian’s

St. Julian's Bay is an old fishing village that lies just above Sliema. Today, it is a popular seaside resort home to some of the most luxurious hotels on the island. It is also home to the famous Paceville area, the centre of Maltese nightlife, with its wide range of restaurants serving Maltese and international cuisine, as well as its many bars and nightclubs. Distance to the airport: 11 km.

Located 18 kilometres south of Valletta, Floriana is a small town perched on the heights of Malta. It was built in the 17th century to consolidate the country's defence and takes its name from the engineer who designed its fortifications. Despite its small size, it has enough to rival the capital –excellent gardens, a sublime panorama and the "Isle of MTV Malta" festival, which brings together world-renowned artists every year. Distance from the airport: 10 km.

St. Paul’s Bay

St Paul's Bay is named after the apostle of the same name who was shipwrecked on the Maltese coast on his way to Rome. Together with the towns of Qawra and Bugibba, it has become a lively area with many cafes, bars and restaurants, which are very popular with holidaymakers. Distance from the airport: 20 km.

The small town of Mellieha is bordered by one of the most beautiful beaches in Malta. The beach is covered with fine sand and has a gentle slope, making it ideal for families with children. The town is situated in the quieter northern part of the island and is also located 1 kilometre from the bay of the same name. Mellieha is also famous for the underground grotto of the venerated Madonna in the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Mellieha, whose apse dates back to the beginning of Christianity. Distance from the airport: 16 km.

• Don’t miss the Sunday market in Marsaxlokk , where you can watch small colourful boats known as luzzus returning from fishing to sell their catch on the stalls. 
• Gozo , known as Malta's little sister, is an unmissable island of stunning natural beauty and wild landscapes, which will delight hiking enthusiasts.
• Comino , another island in the Maltese archipelago, has a beautiful azure blue lagoon that will make you feel as if you’re in the Maldives. Its transparent waters are also perfect for diving .
• If you like to party, head to Paceville . This area is considered the nightlife capital of Malta due to its high concentration of bars, restaurants and nightclubs.
• Valletta is a capital city with historic charm that captivates visitors with its striking architecture and buildings. Take time to wander through the quiet streets and take in the beauty of this walled city. 
• The Upper Barrakka Gardens offer a breathtaking view of the Grand Harbour. Don't miss the impressive firing of the cannon at 12pm and 4pm. 
• Take a stroll through Popeye Village , a charming themed village with wooden houses. It was the film set for the 1980 musical production ‘Popeye’ and is now a popular open-air museum for children. 
• History buffs will enjoy Malta’s megalithic temples . The 17 ancient sites with 5,500 years of history will amaze history buffs with their incredible architecture and rich past.

Valletta and the Malta Experience

This guided tour through Malta's bustling streets will first take you to the Barracca Gardens, where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Grand Harbour. You will then head to St John's Cathedral, which is adorned with treasures from the time of the Knights of Malta. You will also visit the Grand Master's Palace and then see the "Malta Experience", an audio-visual tour tracing the history of the Maltese archipelago through the centuries.

Marsaxlokk Market and the Blue Grotto

This half-day excursion will take you to two of the most important places on the south of the island: the picturesque village of Marsaxlokk and the Blue Grotto. Marsaxlokk is known for its Sunday market selling fresh fish, brought in by fishermen in luzzus (traditional colourful fishing boats). You can also take a small boat out to visit the Blue Grotto, which part of a series of natural grottos whose various arches and caves create a natural spectacle where light reflects off the sea and brings out its shimmering colours.

Jeep Safari on Gozo

This jeep tour will take you off the beaten track to the most beautiful places on the island. You will avoid the usual tourist sites and embark on a day full of beauty and adventure. The expedition leader, who a specialist in the area, will guide you through the safari and show you some unusual sites. You will also have the chance to go swimming and stop for a typical Maltese lunch.

After a twenty-minute ferry ride, you will arrive on Gozo, an island with a very different feel to Malta. Gozo is more mountainous, greener and therefore arguably more picturesque. During the day you will visit the temples of Ggantija, the citadel of Victoria and Xlendi Bay. There will also be free time for shopping, so you can pick up some of the knitwear and handmade lace that Gozo is famous for.  Lunch is included.

Boat Trip to Gozo and Comino

Climb aboard the Fernandes, an impressive Turkish schooner, and set sail for the island of Gozo to discover its beautiful cliffs and hidden coves. The crew will anchor in a secluded bay on the island, where you’ll have the chance to swim, snorkel or simply sunbathe on deck. Afterwards, you can enjoy a hot and cold buffet served on board with unlimited drinks. After this delicious meal you will head to Comino, where you will have the opportunity to swim in the crystal clear waters of the famous blue lagoon before heading back to Malta.
